For students that are learning about transportation, or perhaps want to dream up an exotic vacation getaway to Timbuktu, drawing a giant cruise ship might be just the ticket. This one is full of large and simple shapes and could even include a little lesson about perspective. After all, seagulls that are closer will always look larger than those that are far away. Itâs what perspective is based on, and teaches students to pay attention to the size and scale of things in their drawing too.

How To Draw A Cruise Ship | in 8 Easy Steps
Hereâs how to ace the perfect drawing of a realistic cruise ship using eight simple steps! This engaging tutorial will not only teach you how to sketch this robust vessel, but also how to enhance it with the use of background elements and color.
A cruise ship is a large boat used to transport passengers on various kinds of journeys. Cruises are meant to be relaxing, scenic and fun for all guests.
This is probably why most of these ships often feature ameneties including pools, parks, dining lounges and sometimes even concert halls. Thatâs a pretty good indicator of how big these oceanic vehicles can get.
What you will need
- A4 sheet of paper
- Pencils (HB, 2h and 3b)
- A ruler (optional)
- Coloring kit
- 30-35 minutes
how to Draw a Cruise Ship
I recommend studying the outline before you begin drawing. This is a great way to get yourself familiar with each step beforehand! Also, make sure you have all of the required drawing tools with you. Because this drawing is fundamentally a combination of shapes put together, a ruler and eraser will definitely be needed!
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-10-1024x765.jpg)
Step 1: Draw the cruise ship body
Start by flipping your paper in a landscape orientation to gain more drawing room. Tackle the cruise shipâs body first, seeing as you will be adding all of the other components onto it later on.
Draw an inverted trapezoid in the middle of your paper. To achieve this shape, youâre going to have to draw a horizontal line at the base of the paper first. Then, draw two diagonal lines from each end of the horizontal line. These lines should be slanted outward, and the line on the left should be longer than the right.
Finally, draw a horizontal line on the upper side to close the structure. As the slanted lines are of unequal lengths, there will be a slope in the middle of the upper line, as shown in the image below.
- Flip your drawing paper in a landscape orientation to ensure more space
- Draw an inverted trapezoid in the center of your drawing paper
- Make sure your shape matches the one in the image below
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw a cruise ship body](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-01-1024x582.jpg)
Step 2: Draw Two decks
The decks are the upper part of the ship thatâs usually seen above water. This is where passengers go out to get some fresh air, take in the oceanic views, and make use of the amenities.
To complete this step, draw a long horizontal rectangle on top of the shipâs body for the first deck. Because weâre adding two, draw another rectangle above it. Ensure the upper one is smaller and has diagonal sides, and youâre good to go!
- Draw a long horizontal rectangle on top of the shipâs body for the first deck
- Add the second deck by drawing a smaller rectangle above the first one
- Ensure the smaller deck has diagonal lines on the sides
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw Two decks of a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-02-1024x668.jpg)
Step 3: Draw two smoke stacks and wind tower
Draw two wide vertical rectangles next to each other on top of the right sideâs upper deck. The length of both of these rectangles should be the same to execute a sleek design. Add a little horizontal rectangle on top of each smoke stack to cap it off and make it look a bit more realistic.
Lastly, draw a thin vertical rectangle on top of the left side of the upper deck to represent the wind tower. You want to make sure the length of the wind tower is longer than the two smoke stacks, as this is how it often appears on real-life ships.
- Draw two rectangles on the right side of the upper deck for the smoke stacks
- Draw a vertical rectangle on the left side of the upper deck for the wind tower
- Ensure the wind tower is longer than the smoke stacks for a realistic look
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw two smoke stacks and wind tower of a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-03-1024x661.jpg)
Step 4: Draw windows on the Two decks
The decks usually have several rooms on them to provide passengers with scenic views of the ocean, so theyâre a great addition to consider for your cruise ship sketch!
To add the windows, draw a series of small rectangles within the width of both decks. Draw nine small rectangles that are all the same size and aligned on the same spot on the bottom deck.
Then, draw six small rectangles on the upper deck that are relatively the same size as the ones added to the bottom deck. For this deck though, draw three rectangles next to each other on the left, and three next to each other on the right.
- Draw nine small rectangles on the bottom deck for the bottom windows
- Draw six small rectangles on the upper deck for the top windows
- Make sure the top windows have three on one side and three on the other
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw windows on the Two decks of a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-04-1024x679.jpg)
Step 5: Draw the railings on the main body
To add this cool safety feature, draw two horizontal lines parallel to the upper line of the main body. Then, draw several vertical lines connecting these parallel lines to the main body of the cruise ship. There should be a short gap between the vertical lines for a neat design.
- Draw two horizontal lines above the upper line of the main body
- Add a series of short vertical lines between the main body and horizontal lines
- Ensure thereâs a small space between each vertical line for a neat design
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw railings on the main body of a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-05-1024x669.jpg)
Step 6: Draw the main body windows
The decks are not the only part of a cruise ship that contain rooms. Seeing as cruise ships often transport thousands of passengers at a time, there are also rooms below deck, and these rooms require windows, as well.
So for this step, draw a total of nine small circles along the center of the main body. To avoid making them too clustered, separate the circles in a pair of three . Draw three circles next to each other on the left, three in the middle, and three on the right, and youâre good to go!
- Draw a total of nine small circles on the center of the main body
- Separate the circles in a pairing of three to avoid overcrowding the space
- Draw three on the left, three on the center and three on the right
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw main body windows of a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-06-1024x653.jpg)
Congratulations! Your Cruise ship Drawing is complete
If you followed along and completed all of the steps in one go, well done! Use this time to give your drawing hand a well-deserved break as you evaluate the outcome of your sketch.
Compare your drawing with the image below and make any necessary adjustments. Itâs best to get this out of the way now so you can devote all of your attention to the remaining steps. You surely donât wanna miss out on those!
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-07-1024x638.jpg)
Taking your cruise ship drawing to the next level
As you are probably already aware, cruise ships donât fly in the air or run on the streets as other vehicles do. They float on sea.
Right now, thereâs not really much perspective in your drawing. The viewer may not easily realize that itâs a cruise ship since the surrounding doesnât really give off that vibe. For that reason, you need to upgrade your drawing and add more details to it.
Step 7: Adding a background
Draw multiple waves under the shipâs body to pull off the oceanic scenery. To do this, first draw a large wavy shape surrounding the bottom part of the cruise ship. Then, add a few wavy strips within the width of the round shape. These strips are going to transform into waves once theyâre colored in.
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-09-1-1024x1024.jpg)
step 8: Adding color
To spice up your drawing, add some vibrant colors to improve the appeal and realism of it. This will definitely give your drawing a lively look. Use a combination of your favorite colors to differentiate between each element on the ship.
We used dark blue to color the shipâs body in our drawing. Red color for the smokestacks and wind tower. Black color for the railings and a light blue color for the windows. You can use similar colors in your drawing or customize it according to your taste . Just make sure to color the drawing in a tidy manner.
![mini cruise ship drawing How to draw a cruise ship](https://edits101.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Cruise-ship-08-1024x850.jpg)
You can add a flag at the top of the second deck for a nice personalized touch.
Feel free to create a name for your ship and then add it somewhere along the bottom of the cruise ship.
To give your drawing even more context, add a sun and a few birds above your ship to depict the time of day. If youâre going for a night time scene, draw a moon and a few stars surrounding the ship.
Interact with other artists on YouTube to share your experience drawing a cruise ship and possibly gain some extra tips.
Conclusion
This guide explains how to draw a cruise in eight simple steps. First, we drew the cruise ship body. Then we made two decks, two smokestacks, and the wind tower. After that, we drew the windows on the two decks and the railings on the main body. Finally, we upgraded the drawing.
All these steps are quite simple. Weâre confident your drawing will be amazing if you follow these steps. You might have to keep practicing for a better result, so go for it again if you think your drawing doesnât look that good. Ultimately, youâll have a beautiful cruise ship in no time!

Try to keep the lines simple and avoid smudging. If you want to add any details such as windows or flags now is the time to do it in light hatching.
Step 2: Prepare the Colours
Now that you have a tidy outline of your ship sketch, it’s time to prepare the colours. To get a convincing effect, use a base layer and then an additional layer with highlights and shadows. A good tip is to use slightly darker shades of the same colour.
Step 3: Shading
![How To Draw A Cruise Ship How To Draw A Cruise Ship](https://www.learnabout-art.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/composing-art-035.jpg)
You need to create the illusion of shade and texture to make the ship look realistic. To do this, use several different pencil grades, ranging from soft to hard. Create a gradual transition of tones with the pencils and finish with a light touch of black charcoal.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
Your ship is almost ready! Now it’s time to add the finishing touches. Examine your reference image and figure out where to place white highlights on the hull. Try to get creative in the placement of these highlights for an even more impressive effect. Finally, complete the port and starboard sides of the ship with painted windows and coloured flags.
Step 5: Final Touches
To complete your drawing, add any additional details you want with a fine-tipped brush and some black ink. This can include rivets and other intricate details. Temporarily cover the unwanted highlights with masking tape and intentionally blend the surrounding shades. Finish by erasing any unwanted lines and smudges.
Step 6: Check for Mistakes
Have a look at your drawing from different angles and double check for any mistakes or overlooked details. Make sure that your picture looks the way you want it and all elements of the ship are in the correct order. If everything is as it should be, all that’s left to do is to admire your work and show it off to your friends.
Step 7: Experiment with Your Drawing
![How To Draw A Cruise Ship How To Draw A Cruise Ship](https://www.learnabout-art.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/singing-art-110.jpg)
Now that you have the basics down, it’s time to experiment a bit. Try to use various pencil grades and colours to get different effects and textures. Carve out a few waves with shading and draw in clouds to create an even more impressive atmosphere. Play around with perspective and make the ship look bigger or smaller depending on the desired effect.
Step 8: Have Fun with the Drawing
Don’t be afraid to have fun with your drawing. Create an environment with some wildlife or ships in the background to give your cruise ship a context. Add some decorations to the ship to make it look more alive and vibrant. Pull out your inner artist and make something that you can be proud of.

Introduction to Mini Cruises
The allure of mini cruises.
The concept of a mini cruise, a shorter version of the traditional cruise experience, has gained immense popularity in recent years.
These compact sea adventures typically range from a single night to five nights, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and luxury without the commitment of a longer voyage.
Ideal for those with time constraints or budget considerations, mini cruises provide a snapshot of the cruising lifestyle.
Why Choose a Mini Cruise?
Mini cruises serve as an excellent introduction to cruising for newcomers. They offer a taste of life at sea, including gourmet dining, entertainment, and stops at interesting destinations, all within a shorter timeframe.
For the experienced cruiser, they provide a quick getaway or an opportunity to explore new ships and cruise lines without a long-term commitment.
Additionally, mini cruises are often more budget-friendly, making them an attractive option for those who want to enjoy the cruise experience without the larger expense of a longer voyage.

The Growing Popularity
The rise in the popularity of mini cruises can be attributed to various factors. Firstly, the busy nature of modern life means that many people find it difficult to take extended vacations.
Mini cruises fit perfectly into long weekends or short breaks. Secondly, there is a growing trend towards experiential travel – trips where the journey itself is part of the experience, rather than just the destination. Mini cruises excel in this area, offering a variety of onboard experiences.
Finally, the increasing diversity in cruise offerings – from themed cruises to luxury experiences – means there is something for everyone, even in a shorter format.
What to Expect on a Mini Cruise
A mini cruise is like a sampler of what longer cruises offer. Passengers can expect to enjoy a range of amenities such as swimming pools, spas, fitness centers, and various dining options.
Entertainment on board ranges from live shows and music to casinos and themed parties. Accommodations might be more compact compared to longer cruises, but they are no less comfortable or well-appointed.
Each mini cruise itinerary offers something unique, whether it’s a day in a bustling port city, an afternoon on a sun-soaked beach, or an excursion into nature. The destinations are as diverse as the ships themselves, ranging from cozy coastal towns to vibrant cities.

Choosing the Right Mini Cruise
When selecting a mini cruise, consider factors such as the departure port, destinations, onboard amenities, and the overall theme of the cruise. Some cruises focus on relaxation and wellness, while others might be geared towards adventure or cultural exploration.
The choice of cruise line is also crucial. Each line has its unique style and target audience. For instance, some cater to families with children, offering kid-friendly activities and facilities, while others might target adults with a more sophisticated or romantic atmosphere.

Choosing Your Mini Cruise: Key Considerations
Embarking on a mini cruise is an exciting endeavor, but with so many options available, choosing the right one can be daunting.
This section outlines key considerations to help you select the perfect mini cruise that aligns with your preferences and expectations.
Duration: Understanding Mini Cruise Lengths
Mini cruises vary in length, typically ranging from a quick overnight trip to a more leisurely five-night journey. The duration of your cruise will significantly impact your experience.
Shorter cruises are great for a rapid escape, often not stopping at any ports, while longer mini cruises allow for more time to explore and enjoy onboard amenities. When choosing the duration, consider how much time you can comfortably be away and what you hope to achieve on your cruise.
![mini cruise ship drawing](https://www.elliestraveltips.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/cruise-lines.jpg)
Destinations: Popular Mini Cruise Routes
The destinations visited on a mini cruise are a major draw. These cruises can take you to a variety of places, from bustling cities to serene islands.
Some popular routes include the Mediterranean for its rich culture and beautiful coastlines, the Caribbean for its tropical beaches, or even scenic river cruises in Europe. Consider what type of destination appeals to you – are you looking for cultural experiences, natural beauty, or perhaps a mix of both?
Budgeting: Costs and Value for Money
One of the advantages of mini cruises is their affordability compared to longer voyages. However, costs can vary based on factors like the cruise line, ship, destination, and type of cabin. It’s important to understand what is included in the price of your cruise.
Some cruises are all-inclusive, covering meals, entertainment, and even some shore excursions, while others may charge extra for certain amenities. Setting a budget beforehand and understanding what it covers will help in making an informed decision.
![cruise lines-27 cruise lines-27](https://www.elliestraveltips.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/cruise-lines-27.jpg)
Seasons: Best Times of Year for Mini Cruises
The time of year you choose to cruise can greatly affect your experience. Weather, crowds, and pricing vary significantly across seasons. For instance, cruising in the Caribbean during hurricane season might be cheaper but comes with certain risks.
Similarly, cruising in Europe during the summer offers great weather but can be more crowded and expensive. Consider what balance of weather, price, and crowd level you’re comfortable with when planning your trip.
Choosing the right mini cruise involves considering several key factors, including the length of the trip, destinations, budget, and the time of year.
By carefully weighing these considerations, you can select a mini cruise that not only fits your schedule and budget but also fulfills your travel desires. With the right planning, your mini cruise can offer an unforgettable blend of relaxation, adventure, and exploration.

Booking Your Trip: Tips and Tricks
Once you’ve chosen your cruise line and ship, it’s time to book your trip. Here are some tips to consider:
- Early Booking: Often, booking early can secure you better deals and a wider choice of cabins.
- Last-Minute Deals: Conversely, if you’re flexible, last-minute bookings can sometimes offer significant discounts.
- Cabin Selection: Think about what type of cabin you prefer. While interior cabins are budget-friendly, ocean-view or balcony cabins offer better views.
- Travel Agent vs. Direct Booking: Consider using a travel agent who specializes in cruises. They can offer valuable advice and may have access to exclusive deals. Alternatively, booking directly through the cruise line’s website gives you more control over your choices.
Packing Essentials for a Mini Cruise

- Clothing: Pack according to your destinations and planned activities. Include swimwear, formal attire if required, and comfortable walking shoes.

- Onboard Activities: Review the ship’s schedule for shows, events, and activities so you can plan your onboard experience.
Planning a mini cruise involves careful consideration of several key factors: selecting the right cruise line and ship, booking your trip, packing appropriately, and understanding the itinerary. By following these steps, you can ensure a well-prepared and stress-free cruise experience.

A cruise ship is a large passenger ship that sails from one port to another, carrying people on vacation. They are often used for pleasure cruises, but they can also be used for business or educational purposes. Cruise ships come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have a few things in common. They typically have a large number of cabins, restaurants, bars, and other amenities. They also have a pool, a gym, and a casino.
Drawing a cruise ship can be a fun and challenging project. It is a good way to learn about the different parts of a cruise ship and how they work together. It can also be a great way to relax and de-stress.
In this tutorial, I will show you how to draw a simple cruise ship. I will use a pencil and paper, but you can also use other materials, such as colored pencils or markers.
Materials and Tools
- Tracing paper
- Colored pencils or markers
1. Draw the hull of the ship. The hull is the main body of the ship. It is shaped like a long, narrow rectangle. Start by drawing a straight line for the bottom of the hull. Then, draw a curved line for the top of the hull. The curve should be wider at the front of the ship and narrower at the back. 2. Add the decks. The decks are the different levels of the ship. They are stacked on top of each other. Start by drawing a horizontal line for the main deck. Then, draw another horizontal line for the next deck. Continue drawing horizontal lines until you have drawn all of the decks. 3. Add the superstructure. The superstructure is the part of the ship that is above the decks. It includes the bridge, the funnels, and the masts. Start by drawing a rectangle for the bridge. Then, draw two triangles for the funnels. Finally, draw a few lines for the masts. 4. Add the details. Add details to the ship, such as windows, doors, and lifeboats. You can also add decorations, such as flags and banners. 5. Color the ship. Color the ship using colored pencils or markers. You can use any colors you like, but it is important to choose colors that are complementary.

If you are interested in learning more about drawing cruise ships, there are many resources available online. You can find tutorials, books, and videos that will teach you how to draw different types of cruise ships. You can also find websites that offer free printable templates of cruise ships.
With a little practice, you will be able to draw beautiful and realistic cruise ships.
Draw a basic outline of the ship
The first step in drawing a cruise ship is to draw a basic outline of the ship. This will help you to establish the overall shape of the ship and to make sure that it is proportional.
To draw the basic outline of the ship, start by drawing a large rectangle. This will represent the hull of the ship. Then, draw a smaller rectangle on top of the large rectangle. This will represent the superstructure of the ship. Finally, draw a series of lines to represent the decks of the ship.
Here are some tips for drawing the basic outline of a cruise ship:
- Make sure that the proportions of the ship are correct. The hull should be about twice as long as it is wide, and the superstructure should be about one-third the height of the hull.
- Use light lines when drawing the outline of the ship. This will make it easier to make changes later on.
- Be patient and take your time. Drawing a cruise ship takes practice, so don’t get discouraged if your first few attempts don’t look perfect.
Here is an example of a basic outline of a cruise ship:

Add details to the hull, superstructure, and deck
Once you have drawn the basic outline of the ship, you can start to add details to the hull, superstructure, and deck.
To add details to the hull, start by drawing the windows and doors. Then, draw the railings and other features. Finally, add some shading to give the hull a three-dimensional appearance.
To add details to the superstructure, start by drawing the masts and funnels. Then, draw the windows and doors. Finally, add some shading to give the superstructure a three-dimensional appearance.
To add details to the deck, start by drawing the chairs, tables, and other furniture. Then, draw the people. Finally, add some shading to give the deck a three-dimensional appearance.
Here are some tips for adding details to the hull, superstructure, and deck of a cruise ship:
- Use a variety of line weights to create a sense of depth.
- Use shading to create a three-dimensional effect.
- Add details such as windows, doors, railings, and furniture to make the ship look realistic.
- Be patient and take your time. Adding details to a cruise ship takes practice, so don’t get discouraged if your first few attempts don’t look perfect.
Here is an example of a cruise ship with details added:

MS Rotterdam, Holland America Line
The 2,668-guest MS Rotterdam is the third in the Pinnacle Class series for Holland America Line. At 984 feet (300m) in length, the craftmanship used to create the classic nautical lines of the shipâs exterior reflects almost 150 years of expertise within the company. Her interiors dazzle too, with fluid lines, vibrant colours and airy, light-filled spaces from the shared areas to the staterooms and suites.
Music is the ship's main inspiration, on show everywhere from the atriumâs dramatic harp-like sculpture to the impressive World Stage, where musicians play against a wraparound LED screen. Thoughtfully curated art is displayed throughout the decks and staterooms too, from museum-quality antiques and works by the masters to avant-garde sculptures and thought-provoking photography by emerging artists. Together, they make up a floating gallery of 2,645 pieces of work ranging in value from around ÂŁ400 to ÂŁ512,000 ($500-$620,000).
Silver Moon, Silversea
Silversea's Silver Moon maintains the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation that the cruise line has become known for â yet takes it to a whole new level. The ship's high-end suites have been enriched with elegant decor, premium amenities and luxurious details such as handcrafted beds by Savoir. Bespoke crystal panels by luxury French brand Lalique have been incorporated into the brand's signature restaurant, La Dame.
The innovative new culinary enrichment programme Sea and Land Taste (SALT) is designed to immerse guests in culinary experiences, from classes and market trips to extra-special meals. Dining spaces are filled with unique objects and arts and crafts pieces that draw on influences from all over the world, while colour palettes throughout are used to enhance the dining experience. Lighter tones brighten the demo area, the main restaurant has rich details and accents, while the bar has a darker, more mysterious feel.

The Ownerâs Penthouse Suites are even more incredible, each with its own spacious curved terrace, private spa pool and sun loungers, plus a private lounge and dining area.
The shared spaces are pretty decadent too. There's the 550-square-foot (51sqm) Senses Spa, emblazoned with gold leaf, and multiple pool areas. The stylish Whisky Bar has a floor-to-ceiling translucent quartz display case with 110 varieties of the spirit, while a sculpture of a gown â consisting of 5,400 spoons â marks the entrance to French Champagne bar Lumière.

The Wish Tower Suite, set high in the forward funnel of the ship (which displays the cruise lineâs Micky Mouse logo), is a 1,966-square-foot (183sqm) penthouse in the sky and the most unique Disney Cruise Line accommodation yet. Royal Clipper, Star Clippers
Royal Clipper is one of Star Clippersâ three tall ships and officially the largest square rigger in service. The elegant vessel cuts through the water gracefully, just like the legendary clippers from a bygone era. The five-masted, fully rigged tall ship, which has 42 sails, is beautiful to look at. Her Clipper heritage is reflected in polished brass and gleaming brightwork, expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, a convivial tropical bar and a comfortable piano bar.
The balance of maritime nostalgia and modern cruising is spot-on. Passengers can recline in the bowsprit net suspended above the sea or climb the mast to the Crow's Nest for stunning panoramic views as they sail. The 18,944 square feet (1,760sqm) of open deck and three swimming pools create an expansive outdoor environment. Another notable feature is the Captain Nemo Lounge, the ship's spa and health club, with underwater glass portholes.
Seabourn Encore, Seabourn
Seabourn Encore is the newest striking ship in the cruise line's ultra-luxury fleet. Modelled on the trio of ships introduced with Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Encore represents another stage in the evolution of small ship cruising. There are 300 suites in total, including 16 penthouse suites and five penthouse spa suites, all with verandas facing the ocean.
Seabourn Square, designed to be an innovative concierge lounge, invites guests to access every shipboard service in a relaxed, living-room atmosphere. The Square's thoughtful layout includes a library, upscale shops, an outdoor terrace and a coffee bar, all arranged across a light-filled space with dark-wood accents, a subtle colour palette and striking blue velvet armchairs.
Le Ponant, Ponant
Le Ponant  is the flagship vessel of French cruise company Ponant. The three-mast cruise yacht, which relaunched in summer 2022, has undergone a complete refit and refurbishment. Designed by French studio Jean-Philippe Nuel, her common areas have refined, clean lines with an elegant finish. The colour palette â consisting of off-white, taupe and caviar grey â reflect the classic, sophisticated style, with no need for embellishments or bling.
The accommodation is equally streamlined and elevated, with the number of staterooms and suites halved to just 16, housing a maximum of 32 guests. These are spread over three decks, each benefiting from large windows, and include a particularly lovely and spacious Owner Suite. The company has chosen to place the emphasis on space and freedom aboard Le Ponant, giving guests the sense of being on their own private yacht.

MSC Virtuosa, MSC Cruises
MSC Virtuosa was named in homage to the skill and expertise of the architects and shipyard partners who designed and built it. The ship carries all the signature features of an MSC Cruisesâ ship. At its heart are glamorous, gleaming mirrored surfaces in the atrium, centred around a sparkly Swarovski-studded staircase linking all three decks of the ship.

The ship has 21 bars and lounges all with their own style and unique decor, from the futuristic white and blue of the Starship club featuring Rob, the first humanoid robotic bartender at sea, to the earthy colours of traditional pub Masters of the Sea.
Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Apex is part of Celebrity Cruisesâ Edge Series. The ship showcases the talents of British designer Kelly Hoppen CBE, American designer Nate Berkus, Paris-based design firm Jouin Manku and British architect Tom Wright. Hoppenâs inspiration for the accommodation was to create an outward-facing design emphasising the outdoor scenery. Each of the ship's two Iconic Suites, positioned high above the bridge, have more than 2,500 square feet (232sqm) of opulent indoor and outdoor space, complete with private terrace and hot tub.
The Grand Plaza is one of the ship's most interesting spaces, inspired by the piazzas of Italy. Other beautifully imagined areas are the Rooftop Garden and the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered, floating platform set 13 storeys above sea level.

Each of the beautifully appointed suites has a private balcony, while the palatial Regent Suite â perched on the 14th deck â has a wraparound veranda over the shipâs bow. Its custom-made Treesse mini-pool spa is situated on the front balcony, while the king-sized Vividus bed was handcrafted by upscale Swedish brand, Hästens.
Viking Octantis, Viking Cruises
The new Polar Class Viking Octantis  is imagined by the same interior designers, nautical architects and engineers who designed the cruise lineâs longships and ocean ships. An integrated bow creates a longer waterline for the ship, featuring the companyâs signature Scandinavian influence. Each stateroom has a Nordic-style balcony and a sunroom, while floor-to-ceiling, distortion-free glass allows guests to take in the views and keep the elements out. The top of the panoramic glass lowers to transform the stateroom into a sheltered lookout.
The stunning Explorersâ Lounge, pictured, has two decks at the bow of the ship with double-height windows to take in the scenery. Other cleverly laid-out areas include the Finse Terrace, an outdoor lounge area just above sea level with has recessed couches and lava rock fire pits, and the Aquavit Terrace and pools, set under a retractable glass dome. The design of the spa and fitness centre is in keeping with Vikingâs Nordic heritage, featuring a thermal suite with traditional Norwegian badestamp (wood-sided hot tub).
Emerald Azzurra, Emerald Cruises
Emerald Cruisesâ first-ever luxury superyacht, Emerald Azzurra , launched in March 2022. She stretches to 361 feet (110m) in length and carries just 100 guests across 50 deluxe suites and staterooms. There are six suite and stateroom categories on the Emerald Azzurra, each wonderfully luxurious (though some a little more so). The oversized Ownerâs Suites are the most opulent, with separate bedroom and lounge areas. Best of all, guests can soak up the sun from the large private curved terrace with uninterrupted views. Designer wing chairs and footstools are a fixture in the Observation Lounge, and can be taken outside on clear days and for cinema evenings.
