MICHAEL JORDAN’S FAMILY HOME

The Jordan family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, when Michael was very young. Michael’s rivalry with his older brother Larry fueled his desire to be the better player. If the backyard court provided the canvas for Jordan to develop his basketball genius, then it was the presence of its other regular occupant that unleashed the beast of his competitive spirit.

MICHAEL JORDAN’S HIGH SCHOOL

Michael Jordan’s high school basketball career is best known for what didn’t happen. In the fall of 1978, Jordan didn’t make the varsity team as a sophomore at Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C. After growing six inches, he made the junior varsity team and starred for two seasons before signing with the University of North Carolina

michael jordan tour

MICHAEL JORDAN’S COLLEGE

Michael Jordan was a freshman on the 1982 North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team, and he played a pivotal role averaging 13.5 points per game. He also hit the game-winning shot against Georgetown in the title game. The University of North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team is one of the most prestigious programs in college basketball, led by legendary coach Dean Smith, and with a roster boasting some of the greatest players ever – indeed, perhaps the greatest player ever.

Michael Jordan's Chicago mansion has been on the market for 10 years. See inside — and why he can't sell it

  • Michael Jordan's Chicago-area mansion is still on the market after 10 years.
  • He's cut the price nearly in half and tried various ways to sweeten the deal — like Air Jordans.
  • The house was recently back in the news when an 18-year-old and a juvenile were arrested and accused of trespassing and causing damage to Jordan's abandoned mansion .

Insider Today

Michael Jordan's Chicago mansion is still on the market after 10 years.

Jordan has tried to sweeten the pot by cutting the price nearly in half and throwing in a complete set of Air Jordans with the purchase of the house. And yet, it remains unsold and he pays more than $100,000 in annual property taxes.

The house was originally listed for $29 million and has every bell and whistle you can think of. Some "over-improvements" and the house's location are making it hard to sell the property.

Below, we take a closer look at the house and why it's struggling to find a buyer. Most images are from footage provided by Concierge Auctions .

Tony Manfred contributed to this post and it has been updated.

Michael Jordan's 56,000-square-foot, 7-acre compound in Highland Park, Illinois, looks massive even from the air.

michael jordan tour

Anyone who approaches from the ground can tell right away that this estate belongs to the legendary No. 23, Michael Jordan — and that might be what's keeping it from selling.

michael jordan tour

"It's clearly his home," said Bruce Bowers of Bowers Realty Group, adding: "There's a lot of work that would have to be done to make it your own."

The price on the house has dropped several times and is now going for $14.9 million, or about $265 a square foot — that's a far cry from the original price of $517 a square foot. The exact price is $14,855,000, and the numbers in that price add up to 23 — Jordan's basketball jersey number.

michael jordan tour

The long drive from the gate and the full-grown trees ensure that the house has privacy.

michael jordan tour

Jordan had the house — and the surrounding property — built from scratch to his personal tastes.

michael jordan tour

The outdoor space proves to be spectacular. There's a tennis court ...

michael jordan tour

... an infinity pool with a grass island in the middle ...

michael jordan tour

... which lies in the center of a large patio ...

michael jordan tour

... and down on the lawn, there's a putting green.

michael jordan tour

The putting green is complete with Jordan Brand flag sticks.

michael jordan tour

There's also a pond stocked with fish.

michael jordan tour

While the outdoor space is sprawling and undoubtedly impressive ...

michael jordan tour

... the inside is equally spectacular. When guests first walk in the front door, they are greeted by this view, which includes a piano in the background.

michael jordan tour

The piano room doubles as one of many sitting rooms in the house.

michael jordan tour

And here's a look at another sitting area dubbed the "great room" — this isn't the only great room around the house, though.

michael jordan tour

Jordan's luxurious taste even shows itself in details like doorways. The set of doors seen below are from the original Playboy Mansion in Chicago.

michael jordan tour

They lead to a game room with a pool table.

michael jordan tour

Of course, since this is the former home of Michael Jordan, there is a full-court basketball court. It's the centerpiece of the house.

michael jordan tour

The court has the legend's name at both ends ...

michael jordan tour

... and the Jumpman logo at center court, which includes the names of his children — his daughter's name is out of view.

michael jordan tour

While guests wait for their turn on the court, they can hang out in this sitting area.

michael jordan tour

Moving along to the dining room, guests were able to eat at this "Baghdad table."

michael jordan tour

That grid seen on the tabletop is based on the streets of Baghdad.

michael jordan tour

Detailed eating areas are somewhat of a theme. Here we can see a beautiful skylight positioned perfectly over the kitchen table.

michael jordan tour

In one of the dining areas just off the kitchen, there is a large aquarium built into the wall.

michael jordan tour

The house has nine bedrooms ...

michael jordan tour

... and 19 bathrooms.

michael jordan tour

There is also a cigar room, which has been decorated intricately with a detailed ceiling.

michael jordan tour

Even the railing in the cigar room is ornate.

michael jordan tour

The cigar room also has plenty of card tables where we're guessing Jordan played some high-stakes poker games — he is known for his love of gambling, after all.

michael jordan tour

The home also features a full gym.

michael jordan tour

Jordan's Bulls teammates used to work out there every morning, according to an interview shared by Concierge Auctions.

Another luxurious part of Jordan's estate is the expansive wine cellar.

michael jordan tour

The library upstairs was said to be MJ's favorite room. It features a drop-down movie screen.

michael jordan tour

Between the house and the patio, there's another TV room with a 110-inch screen.

michael jordan tour

This area used to be an indoor pool. Jordan renovated it after he moved in and added sliding walls to both sides that can make the gathering room either indoor or outdoor depending on the mood and the weather.

michael jordan tour

There are plenty of media rooms throughout the house. Even the seemingly random nooks like this one below have TVs.

michael jordan tour

The property also boasts a three-bedroom guest house ...

michael jordan tour

... which has its own family room and kitchen.

michael jordan tour

MJ himself lived in the main house for 19 years.

michael jordan tour

The house comes fully furnished, although some of the pieces may be a tad dated.

michael jordan tour

Despite how awesome the house seems, it's been on the market since 2012. Jordan tried to auction the house in 2013, but the minimum bid of $13 million was never met.

michael jordan tour

Jordan said, "Many of the world's most desirable items are sold at auction, and Concierge Auctions is the hands-down leader when it comes to auctioning one-of-a-kind real estate."

michael jordan tour

MJ's estate remained unsold despite attempts to get creative, including marketing to wealthy people in basketball-crazed China.

michael jordan tour

Source: Maxim

In 2015, the agent working to sell the house at the time promised that the buyer would also receive every edition of Air Jordans in his or her size — but that didn't work either.

michael jordan tour

Adam Rosenfeld, of the luxury-real-estate startup Mercer Vine, told Marketwatch in 2016 that Jordan was likely struggling to sell the house because of all of the personalized customizations.

michael jordan tour

Source: Marketwatch

Rosenfeld said the house also just isn't in an area where wealthy celebs are looking for houses. Gail Lissner of Integra Realty Resources called the area "much more modest" than what Jordan's property suggests.

michael jordan tour

There is no need to worry about the house rotting while remaining unsold, though. The house is still occupied by staff who Jordan employed to keep it looking fresh.

michael jordan tour

Jordan is still paying a lot in property taxes. The annual bill is more than $130,000, and Zillow estimates that he has paid over $2.5 million in property taxes since he put it on the market in 2012.

michael jordan tour

Source: Zillow

One problem is that Jordan may feel his celebrity status adds value to the house, but, according to Stephen Shapiro of the Westside Agency, people do not pay more for a house just because somebody famous owned it.

michael jordan tour

"But you know who tends to think a property is worth more because a celebrity lived there?" Shapiro said. "The celebrity trying to sell it."

michael jordan tour

Another issue is the location. Most of the homes in this price range in this area are closer to Lake Michigan, a few miles east of Jordan's former house. "Buyers at that level in that area tend to want to be closer to the lake," Missy Jerfita of Berkshire Hathaway Homes Services told The Real Deal.

michael jordan tour

Since Jordan put his Chicago home on the market, he has since purchased a lakefront house in North Carolina in a golf-course community.

michael jordan tour

The house is in Cornelius, about a 30-minute drive from the Charlotte Hornets' arena — Jordan owns the NBA team. MJ purchased the house for $2.8 million after it was originally listed for $4 million.

michael jordan tour

Source: Fox Sports

Jordan also reportedly bought a house on a golf course in Jupiter, Florida, for $4.8 million in 2013 and spent $7.6 million on renovations.

michael jordan tour

Source: Jeff Realty

He also owns a condo in downtown Charlotte, in the same building as Cam Newton. The condos reportedly go for between $1.5 and $3.5 million.

michael jordan tour

Source: Charlotte Agenda

Most recently, Jordan listed his 10,000-square-foot home in Park City, Utah, for $7.5 million. Experts think it will likely sell faster than the Chicago compound.

michael jordan tour

Source: Forbes , Business Insider

He continues to wait for a buyer for the Chicago-area home. Of course, MJ is estimated to be worth $1.9 billion, so he can afford to wait for the right owner to come along on his old Chicago digs.

The basketball icon’s Highland Park, Illinois home was recently re-listed for $14.9 million (roughly half its original $29 million ask price). On the market since 2012, 2700 Point Lane has attracted some renewed interest following ESPN’s critically-acclaimed Michael Jordan documentary.

The 56,000 square foot property-equipped with every conceivable luxury amenity-is a physical monument to his tireless dedication and hard work. The custom designed property includes a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, circular infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room, each with Michael Jordan's signature touch.

Set in a prestige suburb of Highland Park, the modern mansion is enclosed by more than 150 trees – the perfect setup for someone in need of complete privacy.

At the entrance of the private driveway is a grand entry gate bearing Michael Jordan’s famous Chicago Bulls shirt number 23. This level of personalisation is perhaps the reason why the property has failed to sell. The gate is a point for attention, and is very much Jordan's home.

The home was completed in 1995 after Jordan bought its seven-acre lot in 1991, and is strategically hidden behind a wall of 40-foot evergreens.

The focal point of the home is a full basketball court, painted with the Jumpman logo. And outside, there’s a tennis court, a putting green, and an infinity pool with a grass island in the centre.

Besides his successful business empire, he's famously known for his time in the Chicago Bulls as the basketball king and NBA legend— the name's Michael Jordan. He is chairman of the NBA team, Charlotte Hornets, and 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. As a galvanizing sports figure, when Michael Jordan buys or moves to a new house, we want to know all about it. So, where does Michael Jordan live?

Before getting into Michael Jordan's house, it's prudent that we get to know a little more about him.

What's On This Page?

What You Probably Didn’t Know About Michael Jordan…

Jordan started playing basketball in college with North Carolina Tar Heels; he practiced under Coach Dean Smith.

He joined the Chicago Bulls in 1984, which skyrocketed his basketball career. Jordan joined as the third overall pick, but as one of the best defensive players, and with such epic scores, he quickly rose as a league star. In addition, his slam dunks, leaping ability, and movements earned him nicknames such as ‘His Airness’ and ‘Black Cat.’ Michael Jordan is also popularly known as the No. 23.

Michael Jordan first won his NBA championship with Chicago Bulls in 1991 and had two more wins in 1992 and 1993.

He retired in the 1993-94 season but returned to the Chicago Bulls in March 1995. Against all the odds, he won three more championships in the following years; 1996, 1997, and 1998. He retired a second time in January 1999 and then joined a new team, Washington Wizards, for two NBA seasons, from 2001 to 2003.

As one of the most famous athletes in basketball and professional sports, the Jordan brand brings Jordan roughly $130 million annually. Michael Jordan’s current net worth is estimated at $1.7 billion , making him one of the richest athletes in the world.

Michael Jordan’s Early Life

Michael Jordan, also known as Michael Jeffrey Jordan or MJ, was born on February 17, 1963, to his parents James R. Jordan Sr. and Deloris Peoples. He was born in Cumberland Hospital in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, United States.

In 1968, when Michael Jordan was five years old, the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where Jordan enrolled at Emsley A. Laney High School. He played basketball, football, and baseball. The irony is that Jordan tried to join the varsity basketball team in his second year, but he was 5’11” at the time, and they thought he was too short to play.

That didn’t deter him because he eventually became Laney junior’s varsity team star and was recruited into several college basketball programs. These include the South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Duke, and Syracuse programs. Finally, in 1981, he accepted a scholarship to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he played and majored in Cultural geography.

Michael Jordan’s Family Life

Michael Jordan married his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, in 1989. Together, they had three children; Jeffrey Michael Jordan, Marcus James Jordan, and Jasmine Mickael Jordan.

After 17 years of marriage, Jordan and his wife divorced in December 2006. However, on April 27, 2013, Jordan married Yvette Prieto, a 35-year-old Cuban American model, at the time.

Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette have twin girls, Ysabel Jordan and Victoria Jordan, who are now aged eight as of 2022.

The twins were born on February 9, 2014, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Understandably, their parents keep them out of the limelight in such private lives.

Michael Jordan currently lives with his wife, Yvette Prieto, and their young twin girls, Victoria and Ysabel Jordan, in the sunshine state, Jupiter Island, Florida. The home in Bear’s Club serves as Michael’s main residence at the moment.

Jordan bought this property in 2010, and it cost him $12.4 million in price. As you’d expect, Michael Jordan’s home is nothing short of pure luxury. It took two years to complete, six months of planning, plus eighteen months of construction to create MJ’s luxury dream home .

Bear’s Club is the ultimate golf course community concept developed by the famed golfer Jack Nicklaus.

Bear's Club Jupiter Entrance

The Bears club community hosts 55 estate residences as a celebrity hot spot that’s completely out of sight and offers plenty of privacy . So, it wouldn’t be surprising why Michael Jordan’s opted for this place.

The 3-acre homesite land in Bear’s Club cost Jordan $4.8 million, while the construction of this 28,000 square feet house cost roughly $7.6 million. So after construction and all personalized customizations are done, Jordan’s mansion racks up more than $20 million in worth.

This makes Jordan’s property one of the most expensive houses in Palm Beach with no waterfront. Moreover, since the home sits in the Bear’s Club community, known to host most celebrity residences, it gets extra credits.

Michael Jordan’s House Exterior

Michael Jordan’s home has a forest landscape, further ensuring privacy in his massive 28,000-square feet mansion. The whole property is primarily made up of separate sections – the main house, guesthouse, the guardhouse, and the pool house.

The two-story guardhouse in the compound is fully equipped with state-of-the-art security appliances and an incredibly huge media room. Jordan’s house maintains a modern detached architecture, with a detached guest house and pool.

The main house has been separated into different wings. The roof tiles are slate-colored and made of concrete for a more traditional Mediterranean type of architecture .

As one of the richest athletes, would it be surprising for you to know that one of the wings in Jordan’s house is dedicated to an athletic wing with a full-size basketball court? This athletic wing also consists of an impressive workout facility.

Similarly, the compound also consists of an exotic spa and gigantic pool for some downtime. We all know of Michael Jordan’s love for cigars and gambling, so there’s a cigar-friendly media room in Jordan’s house with state-of-the-art ‘cigar friendly’ appliances.

The Interior of Jordan’s Mansion

This 28,000-square-foot house is surrounded by a forest which works perfectly for MJ since it adds to its level of privacy. Unfortunately, Michael Jordan and his wife live quite a private life, so we have yet to get the full scoop on how they’ve designed the inside of the house. Although, we’ve been doing some digging, and here’s what we know.

MJ’s $12.4 million house has 18 distinct roof structures that intimately partition this massive mansion into different rooms within the house.

The house has 11 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, plus one-half bathrooms. The modern architecture is also maintained inside, with a more open floor layout. An open floor architecture means that the rooms are more defined by the furniture used and less defined by the walls.

The family room has large windows that pour the outdoor atmosphere into the indoor space; this also helps ensure that there’s plenty of light.

From the house design, it’s clear that Michael Jordan prefers the familiar clean break brought about by the Mizner Traditional Mediterranean architecture. This architectural design is popular in the Palm Beach area and has been used for the past 80 years. Most neighboring celebrities in the area, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, are also incorporating this architectural design.

This design incorporates concepts such as using more glass structures, clean lines, disappearing doors, and slide pockets. In addition, instead of regular polished marble and stone, the marble and stone here are honed. More specifically, the honed marble and stone are mostly used on kitchen cabinets, while the white or cream granite is used on the rest of the surfaces.

The layout inside this 28,000-square-foot house is in an open floor plan, so different spaces perfectly merge into each other to create 11 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, one-half bathrooms, a well-equipped athletic wing with a full-size basketball court, and a cigar-friendly media room.

The Rest of Michael’s Real Estate Portfolio on Sale

We can all agree that the house in Jupiter, Florida, is a next-level-class luxury home. In addition, Michael Jordan also owns two other real estate properties, one in Chicago and the other in North Carolina, where the NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, is based.

a) Lakefront North Carolina Mansion

Michael Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets basketball team, so naturally, he acquired a house just close by. His $2.8 million lakefront mansion is located on the Peninsula Golf course in Cornelius, North Carolina. This 12,310-square-foot house has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a lovely infinity pool.

Lake Norman surrounds this $2.8 million lakefront mansion on its three sides.

There’s an enchanting front view of the lake for the magical sunsets.

The house also has a private dock to lake Norman where the family can enjoy water sports or a leisurely Sunday afternoon walk.

Inside the house is a lovely foyer that directs you to the living spaces.

Grand Foyer to the Living Area

The house has an open floor plan with large windows for a spacious, light-filled space. The living area connects to a large quaint kitchen with ceiling-to-floor windows that merges with the outdoors.

Spacious Open-plan Floor Kitchen

The house is personable, to say the least, but interestingly, this might be the only NBA Hall of Famer’s house with no basketball court.

B) Highland Park City Mansion

Michael Jordan has a second house is in Highland Park, roughly 25 miles north of the Chicago area. The 56,000-square-foot house sits on a 7.39-acre lot. Michael Jordan bought it in 2013 and lived here when he led the Chicago Bulls to six championships.

Outside, this massive property is surrounded by more than 260 trees and also houses a 15-heated garage space and a well-stocked pond.

There’s a lovely infinity pool and a minimalist pool set-up to compliment it.

Exterior View of Michael's Mansion

Besides the circular infinity pool, the property has a well-maintained outdoor tennis court and a sprawling golf course.

Inside, the mansion has five lounges with so many ceiling-to-floor windows for plenty of natural light.

The mansion has three kitchens with multiple floating islands.

Besides, the multiple kitchens are elegant dining rooms that are well lit and designed.

In addition, it has two incredible additions; a cigar room that’s entirely dedicated to cigars and an entertainment lounge that looks like a casino hall.

Jordan's Cigar Room

The house also has a cinema room— otherwise known as the Air Jordan home theater.

Like the rest of Michael’s properties, it has the classic staple; a full-size basketball court. In addition, the basketball court is fully equipped with custom sound systems, locker rooms, and showers.

Besides the basketball court regulation, the house has a full fitness studio with treadmills, StairMasters, ellipticals, etc.

MJ's Fitness Studio

In addition, there’s a card room and a golf putting green that has allowed Michael Jordan to pass the time in his favorite ways.

As you step inside the lower level of the Highland Park home, it houses a walk-in humidor, a fully equipped beauty salon, and a gigantic wine cellar that holds 500 bottles. Next to the wine cellar is an exquisite wine-tasting room to complement the wine cellar.

The gentleman’s retreat suite has a billiard parlor, a lovely fireplace, a fully stocked library, a wet bar, and a video screen. Interestingly it has the original doors used in the Playboy Mansion in Chicago.

Upstairs, the 504 square-foot main suite has a three-sided fireplace and private lounge to help Michael Jordan relax after a long day. In total, the house has five fireplaces.

Michael Jordan has worked long and hard to achieve his stellar athletic performance and business mogul status; understandably, he achieves no less in all his homely spaces. We truly hope you can draw some homely design inspiration from MJ’s spaces— but it’s okay if you’re just here for the tea… wink !

Take a Tour of Michael Jordan's Chicago Mansion That's Been on the Market for 10 Years and Why He Can't Sell it Michael Jordan has tried to sweeten the pot by cutting the price nearly in half and throwing in a complete set of Air Jordans with the purchase of the house.

By Cork Gaines and Rachel Askinasi Aug 9, 2022

Michael Jordan's 56,000-square-foot, 7-acre compound looks massive even from the air.

Anyone who approaches from the ground can tell right away that this estate belongs to the legendary No. 23, Michael Jordan — and that might be what's keeping it from selling. "It's clearly his home," said Bruce Bowers of Bowers Realty Group. "... There's a lot of work that would have to be done to make it your own."

michael jordan tour

The price on the house has dropped several times and is now going for $14.9 million, or about $265 per square foot — that's a far cry from the original price of $517 per square foot. The exact price is $14,855,000, and the numbers in that price add up to 23 — Jordan's basketball jersey number.

michael jordan tour

The long drive from the gate and the full-grown trees ensure that the house has complete privacy.

michael jordan tour

Jordan had the house — and the surrounding property — built from scratch to his personal tastes.

michael jordan tour

The outdoor space proves to be spectacular. There's a tennis court ...

michael jordan tour

... an infinity pool with a grass island in the middle ...

michael jordan tour

... which lies in the center of a large patio ...

michael jordan tour

... and down on the lawn there's a putting green.

michael jordan tour

The putting green is complete with Jordan Brand flag sticks.

There's also a pond stocked with fish.

While the outdoor space is sprawling and undoubtedly impressive ...

michael jordan tour

... the inside is equally spectacular. When guests first walk in the front door, they are greeted by this view, which includes a piano in the background.

The piano room doubles as one of many sitting rooms in the house.

Of course, since this is the former home of Michael Jordan, there is a full-court basketball court. It's the centerpiece of the house.

michael jordan tour

The court has the legend's name at both ends ...

... and the Jumpman logo at center court, which includes the names of his children — his daughter's name is out of view.

While guests wait for their turn on the court, they can hang out in this sitting area.

michael jordan tour

Moving along to the dining room, guests were able to eat at this "Baghdad table."

michael jordan tour

That grid seen on the tabletop is based on the streets of Baghdad.

Detailed eating areas are somewhat of a theme. Here we can see a beautiful skylight positioned perfectly over the kitchen table.

michael jordan tour

In one of the dining areas just off the kitchen, there is a large aquarium built into the wall.

The house has nine bedrooms ...

... and 19 bathrooms. 19!

There is also a cigar room, which has been decorated intricately with a detailed ceiling.

michael jordan tour

Even the railing in the cigar room is ornate.

The cigar room also has plenty of card tables where we're guessing Jordan played some high-stakes poker games — he is known for his love of gambling, after all.

The home also features a full gym.

Jordan's Bulls teammates used to work out there every morning, according to an interview shared by Concierge Auctions.

Another luxurious part of Jordan's estate is the expansive wine cellar.

The library upstairs was said to be MJ's favorite room. It features a drop-down movie screen.

Between the house and the patio, there's another TV room with a 110-inch screen.

michael jordan tour

This area used to be an indoor pool. Jordan renovated it after he moved in and added sliding walls to both sides that can make the gathering room either indoor or outdoor depending on the mood and the weather.

There are plenty of media rooms throughout the house. Even the seemingly random nooks like this one below have TVs.

michael jordan tour

The property also boasts a three-bedroom guest house ...

... which has its own family room and kitchen.

MJ lived in the main house for 19 years.

The house comes fully furnished, although some of the pieces may be a tad dated.

Despite how awesome the house seems, it's been on the market since 2012. Jordan tried to auction the house in 2013, but the minimum bid of $13 million was never met.

Jordan said, "Many of the world's most desirable items are sold at auction, and Concierge Auctions is the hands-down leader when it comes to auctioning one-of-a-kind real estate."

MJ's estate remained unsold despite attempts to get creative, including marketing to wealthy people in basketball-crazed China.

In 2015, the agent working to sell the house at the time promised that the buyer would also receive every edition of Air Jordans in his or her size — but that didn't work either.

Adam Rosenfeld, of the luxury-real-estate startup Mercer Vine, told Marketwatch in 2016 that Jordan was likely struggling to sell the house because of all of the personalized customizations.

Rosenfeld said the house also just isn't in an area where wealthy celebs are looking for houses. Gail Lissner of Integra Realty Resources called the area "much more modest" than what Jordan's property suggests.

There is no need to worry about the house rotting while remaining unsold, though. The house is still occupied by staff who Jordan employed to keep it looking fresh.

Jordan is still paying a lot in property taxes. The annual bill is more than $130,000, and Zillow estimates that he has paid over $2.5 million in property taxes since he put it on the market in 2012.

One problem is that Jordan may feel his celebrity status adds value to the house, but, according to Stephen Shapiro of the Westside Agency, people do not pay more for a house just because somebody famous owned it.

"But you know who tends to think a property is worth more because a celebrity lived there?" Shapiro said. "The celebrity trying to sell it."

Since Jordan put his Chicago home on the market, he has since purchased a lakefront house in North Carolina in a golf-course community.

The house is in Cornelius, about a 30-minute drive from the Charlotte Hornets' arena — Jordan owns the NBA team. MJ purchased the house for $2.8 million after it was originally listed for $4 million.

michael jordan tour

Jordan also reportedly bought a house on a golf course in Jupiter, Florida, for $4.8 million in 2013 and spent $7.6 million on renovations.

He also owns a condo in downtown Charlotte, in the same building as Cam Newton. The condos reportedly go for between $1.5 and $3.5 million.

Most recently, Jordan listed his 10,000-square-foot home in Park City, Utah, for $7.5 million. Experts think it will likely sell faster than the Chicago compound.

He continues to wait for a buyer for the Chicago-area home. Of course, MJ is estimated to be worth $1.9 billion, so he can afford to wait for the right owner to come along on his old Chicago digs.

Michael Jordan retired in 2003 but he never really left, as if suspended in midair over popular culture. He became a majority investor in the Charlotte Hornets, formerly the Bobcats. (He sold it but retains a minority share.) He was the subject of the Netflix docuseries “The Last Dance.” He draws a reported $250 million annually from Nike’s Jordan Brand of footwear and apparel, a bonanza for the Swoosh and Jordan that is the subject of the Ben Affleck feature film “Air.”

Jordan, 60, no longer lives in Chicago, but The Spirit, a 12-foot bronze statue of Jordan going in for a dunk, will soar as usual at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls, during this week’s BMW Championship at Olympia Fields, 30 miles south of the city. His presence will be felt at the second stop of the FedExCup Playoffs just as it is so often on the PGA TOUR, because while he remains part of the wider conversation, he’s become an especially potent force in golf.

His trademark Air Jordans have been transformed into golf shoes worn by TOUR players like Keegan Bradley and Tony Finau. Jordan also designed the lux Grove XXIII (his trademark "23" in Roman numerals) near Jupiter, Florida; Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas are among its members. Safe to say, the global icon’s reach at the game’s upper echelon has grown significantly.

Fowler, whose victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last month broke a four-year win drought, told PGATOUR.COM he has tried to take on some of Jordan’s renowned competitive edge.

Luke Donald said he borrowed an MJ mind trick to reach world No. 1.

Bradley cites perhaps the greatest motivator of all: They know he’s watching.

“I know he was such a hard worker, and he respects hard work,” said Bradley, a two-time winner this season who also counts the 2018 BMW among his six TOUR titles. “So, for me, it’s important to go to The Grove and put the work in and use the facility that he built us.

“I try to think,” continued Bradley, who’s an ambassador for Jordan Brand, “when I’m tired and want to go home, what would MJ do in this situation? And then he’s there, and I can talk to him. It’s really fun.”

Keegan Bradley recounts playing basketball with Michael Jordan and Tom Brady

Bradley and others already had won major championships prior to joining the club. Koepka and Thomas have each won a PGA Championship since becoming members, while Johnson won the 2020 Masters.

“One of his goals,” Grove XXIII architect Bobby Weed said of Jordan, “is to have all four major championship trophies at the club, won by his members. I wouldn’t bet against it.”

Grove XXIII: The center of everything

The Posse does not dawdle.

Jordan likes to play a certain kind of golf. He might be part of a sixsome or a sevensome or an eightsome, with everyone in his own cart and listening to his own music. And playing very fast. No one is throwing the grass up into the air. The Posse, as his crew is called, moves fast.

This style of play wasn’t well-received at other clubs, so he built his own on a former citrus grove in Hobe Sound. He hired renowned architect Weed, whom he’d befriended at nearby Medalist Golf Club and who first had to first clear out a few cows before their collaboration began.

“Michael couldn’t have been better to work with,” Weed said. “He was involved, engaged, active. I set him up in a big off-road truck to survey everything. He was out there every week. At one point he put his arm around me and said, ‘You know. I could be anywhere in the world, and there’s no place I’d rather be than right here.’ Deep down he’s a great individual.

Michael Jordan's best PGA TOUR moments

“He also seemed to show up in a different car every time I saw him,” Weed continued. “He has an amazing car collection. Other times he’d arrive on one of his motorcycles.”

Grove XXIII opened around the time of the 2019 Super Bowl, and lately the club seems to be popping up everywhere. After a round at the Genesis Scottish Open, Thomas pulled from his pocket a handful of Grove XXIII tees. A bidder put up a reported $150,000 to play with retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady and Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh at Grove XXIII. Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney was spotted wearing a purple Grove XXIII polo.

“The pro shop does well,” Donald said with a smile.

In the middle of it all is Jordan, letting nothing escape his notice. When he wins, Bradley said, he has to scroll up on his phone; Jordan, an avowed golf nut since Davis Love III got him into the sport at the University of North Carolina in the 1980s, is always one of the first to fire off a text.

The Jordan factor is perhaps felt most via the chaotic matches at Grove XXIII. There are bets, side bets, presses. Jordan is there with his friends, everything a roiling mass of golf carts and cigar smoke and action. He gets 10 strokes against TOUR pros, and they have learned the hard way that without a fast start, it’s nearly impossible to win.

“He presses on the sixth tee,” said Fowler, “because he might stroke once in the first five holes, and for the most part any of the pros would be up at that point, so it’s pretty automatic that the press is coming on six tee because he strokes on, I think, six, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, and that’s like the gauntlet – you’re trying to hang on for dear life.

“He knows what he’s doing,” added Fowler, who admits he has never bested Jordan at Grove.

Considering Fowler has been a member since before it opened, that’s saying a lot. He’s lost count of how many times they’ve played together but doesn’t take it for granted; he loves seeing the wide-eyed expressions on his friends’ faces when he brings them to the course.

Meeting one of the most famous people on the planet can have that effect. Bradley said it was “jaw dropping” when Jordan spoke to members of the 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup Team.

“I was awed for a few years, I think,” said Donald, who used to live in Chicago but now resides in South Florida, two doors down from Jordan. “Even now, I’m very good friends with him, but he has a presence. He’s sort of sports royalty, isn’t he?

“He always told me to break down things that seemed quite far away and hard to achieve and make them simpler,” Donald continued. “The way he put it was he knew he would need to average 32 points a game to win the scoring title, which seems like a lot, but if you look at it like you just need eight points per quarter, four field goals, it feels more manageable. When I was No. 1 in the world, I was good at that sort of thing, managing my practice.”

As for how to beat Jordan on the golf course, Donald said MJ tends to start slow, so it’s possible to win the first 18 and bow out of the second, when he’s at his best and doubles the bet.

The other savvy move is to be on his team. (Just ask Scottie Pippen.) That’s what happened to Justin Thomas, who caddied for Jordan at Harmony Landing C.C. in Goshen, Kentucky, when Jordan came to town annually for the Kentucky Derby (Justin’s father, Mike, was Harmony Landing’s head pro).

“He just kind of took a liking to me,” Thomas said. “We didn’t have caddies, but they wanted caddies and sometimes I would go with his group. One year he asked me to play. He knew I played golf, but he knew nothing about a 15-, 16-year-old junior golfer from Kentucky, so I grabbed my clubs, and he basically was like, ‘All right, I got Little Man. Who wants us?’”

What happened next would make a good story for Jordan’s pals, playing with a spindly kid who would win 15 times on the PGA TOUR, including two majors, by age 30.

In the moment, though, they were not thrilled.

“I made four birdies in seven holes and basically helped pay for my first car,” Thomas said. “We were teammates. There were a bunch of guys he still plays with; I remember Kenny Lofton was out there, Charles Oakley would come. There were a couple of other baseball guys, people he’d take to the Derby and play with. The other guys were not happy. They thought it was cute to start, that I was playing from their tees, but they didn’t think it was so cute afterward.

“We have a couple of pictures,” he continued. “MJ is just pissing himself laughing walking off the greens because I made a couple long putts and they’re so mad and he’s laughing so hard.”

An invitation too good to decline

Jordan is a good player in his own right. He got a sponsor exemption into the 1991 Western Amateur, and while he missed the 36-hole cut, one of his playing partners, eventual winner Phil Mickelson, said, “He makes a nice smooth swing.”

He also has a deadly short game.

“What always surprises me is his touch,” said McIlroy, “which for quite a big guy is quite impressive. He has great hands. Inside of 6 feet I’d take him against pretty much anyone.”

Added Bradley, “I’d say from 30 yards and in – his chipping is as good as a lot of pros, I think.”

Jordan Spieth, who was named after the basketball legend – dad Shawn Spieth was a fan – was at his vacation place at Chileno Bay Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when he ran into Jordan in 2017. The NBA legend was there for an off-site with his Jordan Brand athletes and, true to form, wasted little time setting up a match with the 2015 PGA TOUR Player of the Year.

“He said they were playing the next day with some other people that I knew,” Spieth said. “It was me against one of these guys I didn’t know, and I gave him a certain number of shots, and (Jordan) was backing me. But there was also a group match; I mean, there was friendly fire everywhere. He hits it really nice, doesn’t miss many fairways.

“That was just fun,” Spieth added, “playing really fast, and playing a game. I lost the match to his friend, so I don’t know what he put on it or whatever, but it certainly wasn’t ideal for him.”

You get the feeling he could afford it. Jordan’s reach in elite-level golf extends from Florida to Texas, major winners to mini-tour pros. But it’s not limited to the pros. He’s inspired high-profile amateurs to try the game for themselves just to see what all the fuss was about.

“I give him a lot of credit for popularizing golf for other athletes,” said Adam Scott. “Kelly Slater got very into it, and now there’s like a small golf tour amongst the guys in the World Surf League. I might be drawing a long bow there, attributing it all to Jordan, but he and Tiger Woods did quite a lot to make the game cool for those guys and a lot of others in sport.”

Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan

Like virtually anyone who has been in the game’s elite for any length of time, Scott has a Jordan story. It’s from about 10 years ago, the Monday after the old Western Open at Cog Hill, when he was asked by a friend who is a pro if he wanted to play with Jordan. The friend knew the pro at Jordan’s club in Chicago, and all four of them went out to play the closed course.

“I didn’t win our match; it felt like he was very crafty for his handicap,” Scott said. “And when I hit a bad or so-so shot, or he hit a good one, he got in my ear like you would in other sports but not so much golf. (Laughs) Lots of chirping. Was I star-struck? I had never met him, so I suppose I was a bit awed. The NBA in the 1980s and '90s was big even in Australia, and I had a hoop outside. He’s one of the five biggest athletes of all time in any sport.

Scott smiled. “It felt like I’d been invited into a very exclusive club.”

Scottie Pippen, more ex-Bulls to address Michael Jordan beef, ‘Last Dance' drama on tour

Scottie Pippen, more ex-Bulls to address Michael Jordan beef, ‘Last Dance' drama on tour originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Scottie Pippen is bringing his beef with Michael Jordan to an international audience.

Three members of the Chicago Bulls from the 1990s announced they are going on tour to discuss their side of "The Last Dance" documentary. Pippen, Horace Grant and Luc Longley partnered with Australia's National Basketball League to share an in-depth, first-hand account of Michael Jordan's championship dynasty.

"It's gonna be a no bulls--t tour," Grant said.

The tour, titled "No Bull," will begin Feb. 23 in Tasmania before heading to Melbourne and Sydney.

Pippen served as Jordan's right-hand man for all six championship runs. Grant was a Bulls' big man from 1987-1994, while Longley joined the team in 1994 for the second three-peat.

''This is going to be a no bull***t tour'' 👀 You won't want to miss this... 13 rings, 1 stage and absolutely NO BULL 🐂 It all starts this weekend, get your tickets now - https://t.co/bZYgB6rFTw ✨ pic.twitter.com/1g2CSazaRU — NBL (@NBL) February 21, 2024

It appears the trio won't be holding back as they share behind-the-scenes insight from the Bulls' dynasty days.

"The Last Dance" premiered on ESPN in 2020 to universal acclaim, though, some of Jordan's teammates weren't thrilled with how certain aspects of the era were portrayed. Pippen, in particular, has made it clear in recent years that he and Jordan no longer get along, while Grant took exception to Jordan's "false" claim that he leaked information to Sam Smith when he wrote "The Jordan Rules."

"A lot of people really want to ask us questions about that bulls--- documentary, but just come out and get the tickets and you'll hear a lot," Grant said this week at the NBL24 Andrew Gaze Award Night.

Michael Jordan and Woody Harrelson: Tales from the Kenny Rogers Classic Weekend

Kenny Rogers, the white in his beard matching the color of his jersey, took the pass at the left elbow. The famous country singer, playing on his home court at his farm near Athens, Ga., squared and looked at the basket. He saw what was coming.

A 25-year-old Michael Jordan leaped to block the shot, his right hand extended high. Rogers pulled back. “A fake!” famed broadcaster Chick Hearn said on the telecast. “Kenny Rogers puts Jordan in the popcorn machine.” Rogers took a step to his left and swished a 21-foot jumper.

The Gambler had just roasted MJ.

The crowd erupted. Rogers smiled. Teammate Dominique Wilkins rushed over to slap five. Thirty-six years later, this remains the most popular highlight from an event seldom duplicated.

For three years, Rogers hosted the “Kenny Rogers Classic Weekend” at Beaver Dam Farms. He invited 15 sports stars and television celebrities for a weekend competition of basketball, golf, tennis and bass fishing. And NBC televised it.

Jordan was there. Larry Bird was there. Julius Erving, Isiah Thomas and Charles Barkley participated at different times. Tennis legends John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors. Golf pros Raymond Floyd and Payne Stewart. Actors Mark Harmon and James Caan, as well as R&B and soul singer Smokey Robinson.

In 1989, Woody Harrelson, who played the affable bartender on the sitcom “Cheers,” skipped the Emmy’s — when he was nominated for best supporting actor in a comedy series (and won!) — to attend the Rogers event.

“There wasn’t a lot of thought that went into it,” Harrelson said at the time. “I wanted to play some hoops with my boys.”

Part of it was the setup. This was a first-class event with big sponsors. Rogers sent a helicopter to pick up the stars from the Atlanta airport. Everyone stayed on his 1,200-acre ranch, which featured an 18-hole golf course, two clay tennis courts and several stocked lakes.

Kenny Rogers with Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.

And part of it was the camaraderie. A chance to hang with stars from different arenas. After competing during the day, everyone hung out at night. Rogers had a sit-down dinner. He performed. Robinson performed. Dolly Parton and Gladys Knight came in and performed. One year, Harrelson got on stage and sang “Jailhouse Rock.” McEnroe jammed on the guitar.

Pro athletes are used to big events. This was different.

“One morning I went up to Kenny’s house for breakfast and it was me, Michael Jordan and Smokey Robinson sitting there eating breakfast together,’’ golfer Tim Simpson said. “And I’m like, ‘This is pretty damn cool right here.’ ”

“One night, we went out to the golf range at 2 a.m. and watched Jerry Pate hit golf balls off beer bottles,” said tennis pro Mikael Pernfors, referring to the golfer who won the 1976 U.S. Open. “He cleaned those babies like you wouldn’t believe. There was not a bottle broken until the rest of us tried.”

Harrelson made a putt to clinch a victory for his team and called it “the single most exciting event in my entire life.”

Bird was no-nonsense, always intense. Or maybe annoyed. It was hard to tell.

“I had just won the British Open and I kind of thought I was a little bit of a big deal,” golfer Mark Calcavecchia said. “I was in the kitchen looking in the refrigerator for something to eat and Larry Bird walked around the corner. I’m a big fan of his. I said, ‘Hey, Larry. Mark Calcavecchia.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ and kind of pushed me out of the way. That was my first introduction to Larry Bird.”

And, of course, everyone was in awe of Jordan, not just for what he did in the basketball competition but also in the other sports (and the side bets he made with Barkley). MJ was just entering his prime.

“That was one of the cooler events I’ve done just because of the type of event it was,” said Wilkins, the nine-time NBA All-Star and basketball Hall of Famer. “To be there with stars in different professions, that was cool because you never saw anything like that. It was special.”

The idea sprouted not long after Rogers had moved from Southern California to Georgia. In addition to his singing and acting careers, Rogers, who died four years ago at 81, also had been a sports nut.

Rogers was so serious about tennis that he had a pro named Kelly Junkermann travel with him while he was on tour. At each stop, he and Junkermann would visit a club and play doubles against the club pro and his assistant. Eight times out of 10 they would win.

Rogers also enjoyed golf and called himself “obsessive-compulsive.” Once he tried something, he couldn’t stop until reaching a respectable level. At Beaver Dam Farms, he had an 18-hole golf course built, making it as difficult as possible.

One day, Rogers asked Junkermann: “How well do you think a professional golfer would enjoy this course?”

“I don’t know,” Junkermann said, a scene captured in Rogers’ memoir, “Luck or Something Like It.”

Junkermann suggested having a “Gambler’s Invitational,” similar to what they had done when Rogers had lived in Beverly Hills.

For that tennis tournament event, Rogers invited talk show host Johnny Carson, who lived three houses down, musician/singer Lionel Richie, game-show host Bert Convy, actor Robert Duvall and former Olympian Bruce Jenner, along with their accompanying pros. Each person put up $500 in a winner-take-all format.

Junkermann said they could expand the concept at Beaver Dam Farms.

“Remember when we were all kids?” Junkermann said. “Every kid was good at something, right? One kid was good at basketball. One kid was good at tennis. One kid became a singer. So, I said, ‘What we’ll do, we’ll all be kids. But everybody has to play everybody else’s sport.’ ”

Let’s do it, Rogers said.

Steve Wynn, the casino mogul, put up $500,000. Prize money was set at $400,000. Ticket prices ranged from $40 to $75 with proceeds going to the construction of a homeless shelter.

Junkermann said the first call went to Jordan, hoping the golf aspect would appeal to him.

“Back then you could call an athlete and have an athlete call you back,” Junkermann said.

Jordan said he was in. The next call went to McEnroe. He said he was in. Bird, a big Rogers fan, said he would come.

“You know the only guy we didn’t get?” Junkermann said. “We had the big three, right? We had Jordan. We had Bird. We had Isiah Thomas, who had just won the NBA title. It was Magic (Johnson). Magic was the one guy — he was like too big.”

Once the stars and celebs arrived at Rogers’ ranch, they were floored. Beaver Dam Farms was incredible.

“I was absolutely gobsmacked,’’ tennis pro Kevin Curren said. “Kenny was obviously making a lot of money in those days. The place that we stayed, we thought it was a spectacular home. They said, ‘No, no. That’s just one of like three or four places on the estate.’ And the fact that he had this horse barn that was for very high-end horses, and he could put a basketball floor and the whole thing in there with stands, it was phenomenal.”

Especially the golf course.

“The first tee, when you stepped out of Kenny’s kitchen door, I mean, literally right beside his table, when you stepped out his door you stepped onto the first tee,’’ Simpson said. “I’m like, ‘Kenny, you could not have made this any more convenient.’ ’’

Before the competitions began, the athletes and celebs — the 15 invitees along with Rogers — were divided into four teams. Outside of bass fishing, the other three sports were set up so that the star in that sport could not dominate. For example, in basketball, the pros could score only 12 points in a game to 22.

On the basketball court, tennis pro Roscoe Tanner was matched up against Calcavecchia. Tanner relaxed and thought: “ He’s a golfer. I can handle this.”

But then the ball moved and the tennis pro found himself matched against Bird.

“He looks down at me and starts laughing,” said Tanner, who won the 1977 Australian Open. “I felt like a little kid guarding their dad.”

Tanner played off the Celtics legend and dared him to shoot.

“No, no. I’m waiting for you,” Bird said.

So Tanner rushed out, grabbed Bird’s gym shorts and said: “If you shoot, your shorts are coming down.”

“Not a problem,’’ Bird said.

“He stood dead still,” Tanner said. “Shot a 3-pointer, made it and looked at me like, ‘What an idiot.’ ’’

McEnroe, the tennis Hall of Famer, grew up in New York. He could hoop. Harrelson had game. Calcavecchia and fellow golfer Lanny Wadkins weren’t bad. Most everyone else was just trying to survive against NBA stars. It wasn’t easy.

Calcavecchia thought he would set a screen on Jordan — a legit basketball play. Jordan responded with an elbow to the golfer’s abdomen. “Right where it knocks the wind out of you,” Calcavecchia said. “On the old VHS I had of (the event), you could hear me go ‘WHOOYA,’ right when he elbowed me. The whole crowd heard it. I could barely move after that.”

“They took it pretty seriously,’’ said former University of Georgia basketball coach Hugh Durham, who officiated the basketball games. “Michael drove in one time and he says, ‘That guy fouled me.’ I said, ‘You’re the best player in the world. Just think what that guy’s got to think for the rest of his life.’ And Michael said, ‘We’re playing for a lot of money!’ ’’

On the tennis court, Jordan made up for his inexperience with athletic ability. (And confidence. One year, Curren, the tennis pro, remembered Jordan and Barkley arguing over who was the better athlete. They decided to play a set of tennis for $10,000. Jordan won easily.)

“It was the absolute dream to play basketball with Jordan, and then I played tennis with him,” said Curren, who won doubles titles at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. “That was even more fascinating to witness his movement on the court.

“As a tennis player, you can see when a shot is hit, before it’s hit, how it’s developing. They would do a drop shot and I would have like a two-step start on him. Next thing I would see this guy coming past me and his steps are like three times the size of my steps.”

The only place Jordan’s explosiveness didn’t translate — the fishing competition. Each team had a bass boat along with a fishing guide. Jordan had no interest. The water made him nervous. However, golfer Raymond Floyd put the basketball star’s mind at ease.

“Michael, if you fall overboard, just stand up,’’ he said. “It’s only 5-feet deep. You’ll be fine.”

As it turned out, Jordan caught the biggest bass his first year, which netted him $5,000. According to Rogers’ memoir, the world’s greatest basketball player offered Floyd half of the prize money to take the fish off the hook.

The 1989 event came down to Harrelson. Instead of attending the 41st Primetime Emmy Awards, the “Cheers” star stood over a 5-foot putt, needing to sink it to give his team, which included Jordan, the event championship.

Through the years, the Rogers weekend featured light moments. In his memoir, Rogers wrote about shooting dice with Thomas and losing $1,000 in about three minutes. Simpson said his 8-year-old son Chris slipped a frog inside the pocket of Barkley’s workout pants.

“And I tell you what, Charles lost it ,” Simpson said. “I mean, you would’ve thought he put a rattlesnake in his pocket. It was hilarious .”

One year, Tanner missed a putt, costing his team $10,000, and then-wife Charlotte stormed over and hurled his putter into a nearby lake.

But this was serious.

Simpson watched Harrelson line up the putt. It was all wrong.

“He’s lining up a foot and a half to the right, and it’s a dead straight putt,’’ Simpson said. “And I said, ‘Ho, ho, ho.’ I squatted down behind him and said, ‘I’m going to line up the putter’. And it was just like the movie “Caddyshack.” Larry Bird and my buddy Payne Stewart are over there saying, ‘Miss it! Miss it! Miss it!’ I told Woody: ‘Now take one look and hit it.’ ”

With his blue hat pulled backward, Harrelson holed the putt. He raised his arms and yelled. Jordan, Calcavecchia and Curren rushed over and embraced him.

“They’re jumping around like they had just won the NBA championship,” Junkermann said.

To this day, Simpson has a photo of the Harrelson putt displayed in his basement. Curren still has the miniature trophies he won. Tanner said it was one of the best weekends he’s ever had. Which begs the question:  Could something like this happen today?

Celebrity golf tournaments are common, but events like the Rogers Weekend are not. Years ago, Junkermann considered a similar event with country star Garth Brooks but the idea didn’t get far. Without Beaver Dam Farms, which Rogers sold in 2003, location was an issue.

“Yeah, there’s probably no way,’’ Wadkins said. “The money has gone up so high. They probably wouldn’t do something like this and in a lot of ways jeopardize their career by doing something out of the norm for a pretty small amount of money compared to what people get paid today.”

Others disagree.

“Basketball players, I know they have contracts and things that kind of prohibit them from doing things where they might get hurt,” Calcavecchia said. “But a little half-court game and golf, fishing and tennis, the odds of getting hurt are pretty slim, quite honestly. Basketball’s probably the most risky of the four. But you could even throw bowling in there. I know (basketball star) Chris Paul loves to bowl and he has a celebrity tournament.”

Maybe someday everything will line up again. The timing. The host. The celebs. The location. Until then, the Rogers event will live on through memories.

“It was a blast,” Wadkins said. “It really was. Just a one-of-a-kind thing.”

Gatorade revives ‘Is It In You?’ ad with Caitlin Clark, Michael Jordan and more athletes

Caitlin Clark / Michael Jordan

Caitlin Clark has some pretty heady company in a new Gatorade commercial.

The Indiana Fever star , ratings magnet and No. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft , who also has a multiyear deal with Wilson Sporting Goods , stars in a new ad for Gatorade narrated by Michael Jordan with music by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti.

The spot also features other standout athletes, including Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, five-time NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and two-time track and field Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

“Everything about the game has changed, except for the most important thing: what you have inside,” Jordan says over a montage of athletes playing that also features Clark dribbling and a closeup shot of her with Gatorade-colored sweat on her face.

“It is what drives the game,” he continues over a black-and-white clip of Clark draining a deep shot.

The ad then shows a flurry of clips featuring Allen, McLaughlin-Levrone, Tatum and Wilson practicing and excelling in their respective sports.

“It refuses to be ignored. It sweats everything, turns an athlete into a legend. It demands respect. The game will always change, but it never will,” Jordan continues.

The commercial then ends with a black-and-white shot of Jordan, with beads of orange Gatorade on his face.

“Gatorade: Is it in you?” he says as the spot draws to a close.

Gatorade is reviving the '90s tagline “Is It In You?” — and that famous Gatorade-colored sweat — in this new commercial, called “IT Hasn’t Changed,” ahead of the brand's 60th anniversary in 2025.

The spot will premiere during Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on May 29 and highlights the next generation of athletes who have “IT,” according to Gatorade.

Jordan, of course, has long served as a Gatorade pitchman and famously appeared in a similar “Is It In You?” commercial years ago.

This is also not the first time the NBA legend has revived a popular Gatorade ad campaign, either.

In 2021, he and soccer great Mia Hamm returned for an update of their classic 1997 “Anything Y ou C an D o” commercial . The new version also featured American soccer legend Abby Wambach and Jamaican track and field star Usain Bolt.

In the original commercial, Hamm and Jordan square off in basketball and soccer before drinking Gatorade and continuing to battle in fencing, tennis and track, with “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)” playing underneath them.
