Leicester City Stadium Tours: When Are They & How Much Do They Cost?

English football is home to many impressively modern stadiums, but few, if any, come with such a triumphant and tragic recent history as Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. First, there was the spinetingling sight and sound of Andrea Bocelli belting out Nessun Dorm to mark the most remarkable title success in the history of the Premier League in 2016. Then came the heartbreaking helicopter crash just two years later, which devastatingly took Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha way before his time. It’s fair to say that the King Power has already experienced the full spectrum of emotions despite only opening in 2002.

As the former club owner and the man responsible for the building of the King Power Stadium, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is suitably remembered, with both a Memorial Garden and a statue located in the vicinity of the ground. Given that history of glory and pain, it is no surprise that a visit to the King Power Stadium features on the to-do list of many Leicester City supporters and football fans in general. Of course, thousands of Foxes fans fill the stands on match day, but the view from the seats to the pitch reveals only a fraction of what this exceptional facility has to offer.

Thankfully, those good folks at Leicester City are only too happy to oblige, with tours scheduled throughout the year. Here, we look at what is on offer as part of your stroll through the home of the Foxes, when tours take place, prices, and more.

Stadium Tour Itinerary

Tours commence at the Player’s Entrance to the King Power Stadium. Leicester City provide a friendly guide to act as your tour host and take you around the following areas.

• Players Lounge – Curious about where Jamie Vardy and co hang out when not receiving their instructions in the changing room or strutting their stuff out on the pitch? Now’s your chance to find out.
• Reception Area – Next stop, the impressive glass-fronted reception area, complete with memorabilia from the triumphant 2015/16 campaign and subsequent Champions League adventure
• Directors Lounge – Having seen where the players like to chill out, the third stop gives you the inside view of the exclusive Directors Lounge
• Champions Club – One of the newest areas of the stadium, the Champions Club is the destination for those who like to do their match day in style. Combining a high-end dining experience with access to an attached area in the stands, the swish facility impressively blends the past and present of Leicester City.
• LCFC TV Studio – Leicester City fans will no doubt be familiar with LCFC TV, thanks to the array of match highlights and interviews provided by the in-house broadcaster. This next leg gives you the chance to see where it all comes together.
• Players Entrance – Make your entrance into the stadium in the style of Leicester City’s first team and Women’s side.
• Press Room – Nigel Pearson, Claudio Ranieri, Enzo Maresca, and more have all fielded questions in this auditorium. You have probably seen it on the TV, now see it in real life.
• Home & Away Changing Rooms – The excitement builds throughout the tour, with the final three legs being the most anticipated for the majority of fans. First up, the ultra-modern circular changing room. This is the site of the most influential team talks in the club’s recent history, and where all your heroes don that famous blue shirt.
• Filbert Way Tunnel – Ever wondered what it feels like to walk down the tunnel ahead of a top-level football game? Wonder no more in the iconic Filbert Way Tunnel, complete with huge wall-mounted images of the Foxes’ finest moments.
• Pitchside – Having made it down the tunnel, you are now where the real action takes place – within touching distance of the hallowed green turf. See the stadium as the players see it and recall your most memorable Foxes moments. And if the urge to channel your inner Ranieri proves too strong, why not take your seat in the dugout?
• Foxes Fanstore – Tour complete, your guide will drop you off in the excellent club store. Pick up a replica shirt or souvenir to remember your visit.

Each tour lasts around 90 minutes – pretty fitting for a football-related experience.

Meet the Legends

The club provides an excellent guide to oversee most tours. However, things move up a notch with the special Legends Tours. Taking place regularly throughout the year, these Stadium Tours are led by one of the following three Leicester City heroes.

• Gerry Taggart – Leicester’s King Power Stadium- Tough tackling Taggart racked up 117 appearances for Leicester between 1998 and 2004, winning the League Cup in 2000, suffering relegation in 2002, but remaining with the side to regain their Premier League status at the first time of asking.
• Matt Elliott – The hero of that 2000 League Cup final was Taggart’s defensive partner, Matt Elliott. Powering a header in off the bar in the 29th minute, Elliott then glanced in another nine minutes from time to hand the Foxes the trophy. All told, Elliott made 245 appearances for the Foxes between 1997 and 2005.
• Steve Walsh – Beginning life as a centre forward under Brian Little, former club captain Walsh is best remembered for his steely presence at the heart of the Foxes defence. Hitting 62 goals in 449 appearances, he lifted the League Cup in 1997 and picked up a second winners medal in that competition in 2000.

When Do Tours Take Place?

Standard stadium tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays, with most months seeing 1-3 weekends set aside for tours. The following four start times are available: 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Legends tours are usually held on the final Thursday of the month. Those attending are advised to arrive around 30 minutes before the advertised start time. How Much Does a Stadium Tour Cost?

In 2024, tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £8 for concessions with discounts available to Season Ticket and Fox Membership holders. The King Power Stadium, located in Leicester, East Midlands of England, is the iconic home of Leicester City Football Club. With a seating capacity of 32,262, this all-seater stadium has been the club’s home since 2002, replacing their previous home at Filbert Street.

In the early 1990s, following the Taylor Report’s requirement for all clubs in the top two divisions to have all-seater stadiums, Leicester City’s directors considered building a new stadium. The project came to fruition in 2000 when construction began on the ambitious stadium. By the summer of 2002, the King Power Stadium was completed on time, just as Leicester City were unfortunately relegated from the Premier League and facing debts of over £30 million.

Leicester City fans fondly remember the historic 2015-2016 season when their team defied the odds to lift the Premier League title at the King Power Stadium—an achievement that will forever be etched in the annals of English football. The stadium has also welcomed the Leicester City Women’s team since 2021, further solidifying its position as a central part of the club’s history and future.

However, tragedy struck the King Power Stadium on 27th October 2018 when a helicopter carrying the club’s owner, Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and four other passengers crashed shortly after taking off from the stadium. In memory of those who lost their lives, a beautiful memorial garden has been established at the stadium.

As Leicester City continues to grow and compete at the highest level, the club has recently conducted a consultation process to expand the King Power Stadium’s capacity to 40,000 and develop the surrounding area. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the King Power Stadium for both players and fans alike.

In the New Year, members of the Blue Army are invited to see the inner workings of Leicester City Football Club’s famous home in the company of former pros who have written their names into Foxes folklore.

Matt Elliott – whose 2000 League Cup Final heroics against Tranmere Rovers remain etched in the memories of many fans – shares hosting duties with fellow centre-back and cup-winner Gerry Taggart and celebrated ex-skipper Steve Walsh, a versatile captain who spent 14 memorable years at City and lifted various pieces of silverware during his Foxes career.

After beginning their Legends Stadium Tour with one of our ex-pros in the Players’ Lounge, guests will make their way to the reception area, where Club memorabilia documenting previous European adventures, the 2015/16 Premier League triumph, plus days gone by at Filbert Street, can all be viewed.

As with standard tours, fans can experience the inner sanctum of the stadium in the Directors’ Lounge, view nods to our decorated history in the Champions Club - plus pay a visit to the Foxes Hub studio for a glimpse of how matchday audio-visual operations run at the home of the Foxes, all accompanied by the unique insight of a Leicester City icon.

Guides will then direct guests to the Players’ Entrance, used by the Men's and Women’s teams on Sky Bet Championship and Barclays Women's Super League matchdays, before a visit to the press room - where further stories from our former playing stars await supporters.

Space in each tour will be dedicated to a mini Q&A format, where questions from guests can be put to our legends while a break in navigating the stadium’s confines takes place.

After each tour, supporters are invited to take their own photographs with their legend host, serving as a timeless reminder of a memorable evening at King Power Stadium.

Go behind the scenes!

Stadium tours are back at Elland Road this February and March giving you the opportunity to go behind the scenes at our famous ground.

Guided tours give access to the inner sanctum of Elland Road, including the players changing rooms and dugouts, along with the iconic walk out of the tunnel to the side of the hallowed turf.

You will be escorted by our knowledgeable tour guides who will talk you through the history of the club and the stadium and share some fascinating insights with you.

The tour meeting point will be at Billy's Bar and will finish at the Superstore. All tour guests will receive a tour lanyard which gives the guest 10% discount in the Superstore on the day of their tour.

Tours last approximately 90 minutes and prices are £15 for Adults, £10 for Seniors and £5 for Juniors.

With so much to see within the stadium and behind the scenes, Elland Road is the place to be.

Please note, these are standard stadium tours and will NOT include a Leeds United legend.

Graham Potter has been the odds-on favourite to become the next Leicester City manager for a few days now.

The former Brighton and Chelsea boss is certainly a candidate and has been the subject of long-term admiration at City. There is a decent possibility that he could be the next man in the dugout, with Carlos Corberan and Steve Cooper also under consideration.

But how would that appointment be received? How would Potter fare at the King Power Stadium? To answer, LeicestershireLive’s City writers gathered their thoughts on the good and bad of his potential arrival.

Amie Wilson

When Enzo Maresca first moved to Chelsea the name who initially came to mind as a replacement was Potter. He seems like the ideal fit and with the added bonus that he is currently without a club.

It’s not the first time that City have been linked with the former Brighton boss, with the hierarchy long-term admirers. I did however think that a move for him this summer would be ambitious, given the other jobs that he is said to have turned down and the ones available.

If City can complete a deal for Potter, then I think it could be a big coup. He has Premier League experience with Brighton, playing a major part in their growth over the last few years, and he was praised for the football he got them playing.

Having changed the style of play completely under Maresca, the club need someone who will continue with a similar philosophy. While every manager will have their own style, changing the way the team play would be less than ideal as City look to secure survival.

His experience at Chelsea could also add to that determination to prove himself in the Premier League again. Leicester could be the ideal place to do that.

Josh Holland

Potter has been my first choice manager the previous two times Leicester have been searching for their next appointment (after Brendan Rodgers and Dean Smith). This time is no different. There’s enough reason to be optimistic about his possible appointment with his football easy on the eye and past experience with Brighton speaking volumes.

However, even though he would arrive on a free, I do have concerns over his commitment to the club. It’s been reported that he’s unsure over the role and that he’s holding out for the England job after the Euros. If Leicester get their man and he arrives, how long will it be until a club comes sniffing for him and he jumps ship?

Premier League experience is pivotal for Leicester and a similar style to the one that graced LE2 last season will be something the club will be looking for. Potter ticks both of those boxes and would arrive with a point to prove after failing at Chelsea. A move does make sense for both parties and the time does feel right for him to finally return to club football.

Jordan Blackwell

Given the links to big jobs like that at Manchester United, given he turned down City previously, and given the predicament the club are currently in, with a points deduction potentially on the way, it would feel like a big statement to appoint Potter. Even before considering the managerial qualities he would bring to the club, welcoming Potter as the new boss would galvanise the fanbase and the squad.

And when the initial excitement dies down, City will still have an excellent manager, and one that crucially provides continuity from where the squad was last season under Maresca. City do not need to rip up the blueprint.

Potter has shown throughout his career that he gets his teams playing high-quality possession football that fashions a lot of chances. That was particularly the case at Brighton, who would have fared even better than their run of 15th, 16th, ninth if they’d had better finishing at the top end.

He’s not committed to one formation either, preferring different shapes at Ostersund, Swansea, Brighton, and Chelsea, and so there’s a level of adaptability there too. Plus, he has experience of winning relegation battles, as he did in his first two seasons at the Amex.

It’s hard to think of a better appointment City could make in the position they’re in. There are barely any notable downsides. It seems quite likely that Potter wouldn’t stick around if City did go down, which would leave them on the hunt for a third manager in three seasons, while an up-and-comer making their Premier League managerial debut, such as Corberan, would perhaps be better able to harness an ‘us against the world’ attitude that may help City’s fight against the drop. But those are minor quibbles and would hardly diminish what a fine appointment Potter would be.
