Connecticut’s metal/hardcore favorites Hatebreed will set out on their previously announced European and North American tours, marking a continuation of their 30th-anniversary celebrations.

Beginning in June, Hatebreed will head overseas for a series of European festivals, including ‘Rock Im Park,’ ‘Rock Am Ring,’ ‘Copenhell,’ and more, as well as headlining shows featuring special guests Crowbar.

Afterward, Hatebreed will team up with the legendary Carcass, as well as Harms Way and Crypta, for a comprehensive North American tour scheduled for September and October.

“ We are extremely grateful to have hit this milestone and to be able to celebrate it with the some of the best bands and fans in the world! We cannot wait to see everyone on the road ,” said Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta.

Drummer Matt Byrne added, “ 30 Years of Hatebreed! What a wild ride it has been! The ups, the downs, and all of the in-betweens… I have nothing but gratitude towards my bandmates and each and every one of our fans WORLDWIDE. We’re coming to see you all. Stay tuned .”

Hatebreed is an American metalcore band from Connecticut, U.S. They have long been associated with the 1990s metallic hardcore scene and were founded in 1994.

Hatebreed started out by producing a three-song demo and selling it to local people in Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut, U.S., and was eventually released in 1995 on a split seven inch with fellow band New York’s Neglect. Consisting of Jamey Jasta on vocals, Lou Richards on guitar, Chris Beattie on bass, Sean Martin on guitar and Rigg Ross on drums, the band self-released the critically acclaimed EP “Under the Knife” in 1996 which has been re-released by all of Hatebreed’s subsequent labels.

The band’s aim was to identify what was important about hardcore music; the thrashing guitars, the screamed vocals, the huge, heavy drums and make that the soul of their sound. The band’s 1997 release “Satisfaction is the Death of Desire” did exactly that, released on then the most reliable hardcore label Victory Records, the album was the highest selling album the label had ever witnessed.

The influence of touring with mainstream metal bands Deftones, Entombed and Slayer was evident on Hatebreed’s following two albums “Perseverance” released in 2002 and 2003’s “The Rise of Brutality”. 2004 saw the band join Slayer, Slipknot and Mastodon on the Unholy Alliance tour of Europe and introduced the band to a wider audience. In 2004 the Hatebreed was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, ultimately losing out to Motörhead.

Prior to the band’s 2006 full-length album “Supremacy” released on Roadrunner Records, Hatebreed performed at Download Festival in Donnington, UK, and Ozzfest with the likes of Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold.

Guitarist Frank Novinec was added to the line-up in 2006 as well as Wayne Lozinak in 2008 and both played on the covers album “For the Lions” which dropped in May 2009 as well as the band’s self-titled album in September 2009. “The Divinity of Purpose” Hatebreed’s sixth studio album was released on January 25, 2013 and was another in long line of successes for the band, who have sold over 1.1 million records worldwide.

Live reviews

I saw Hatebreed live in concert, after never hearing or seeing anything about them, at a show with a friend of mine. They play heavier metal songs, which I am usually not a fan of, but this band turned me around on my thinking.

They had great beats and guitar riffs. Their songs have a faster beat than I’m used to. The lead singer spoke to the crowd a lot throughout the show and encouraged audience participation. I think this added to my enjoyment of the show, the lead singer never let up and kept the audience as part of the show for the entire show, it was great.

They opened with This Is Now, and played quite a few of their songs, such as A Call for Blood, To The Threshold, Empty Promises and Destroy Everything. They played for just over an hour and didn’t take any breaks during their set. The audience was really in to the show and there was moshing and dancing throughout the show. They played on a large stage that had a lot of lighting but they didn’t use it much.

I wasn’t a fan of the band before the show, but I definitely am now.

Report as inappropriate

There are few bands that conduct their live shows with a similar amount of aggression as Connecticut metal core band Hatebreed. Having worked the circuit for over two decades, their live show has not become anymore slick than when they first set out yet this level of garage jam session mentality really appeals to their mass fanbase.

They have been consistently releasing albums whilst being on the road so the setlist is always varied and the fans who continuously come to see the show always get something a little different. The pace remains pretty consistent throughout though as they storm through a blistering set of what they consider to be their best music along with some of the fan favourites such as 'As Diehard as They Come'. The fans remain as pacy, jumping, moshing and chanting throughout with their fists high in the air performing to lead singer Jamey Jasta's every command. By the final drum thumps of 'Destroy Everything' neither band or audience could have asked for anything more.

When I saw Hatebreed live for the first time, it was an amazing experience, and after the show I was really stunned by their performance. It was also a show at a really great venue with great supporting acts, but when Hatebreed came on stage, you could feel, that it was one of these concerts, where the whole crowd is going crazy. A lot of people, including myself, moshed like there was no tomorrow, others were jumping and singing along the lyrics, and there was also a lot of crowd-surfing going on, but no one stood still. When Jamey yelled at the crowd: "Are you tired?", everyone was screaming "No!!", and when he then asked "Do you want some more?", the crowd yelled back "Yes!!" and you could feel, that they meant it. To sum things up: Hatebreed is one of the best live bands I've ever seen and they're definitely a band, that you should've seen in your life. Oh, and their best live songs are in my opinion "Destroy Everything", "Looking down the Barrel of Today" and "Everyone Bleeds Now".

AWESOME CONCERT!!! This was my first time ever seeing Hatebreed in a concert venue suit to fit the adrenaline pit junkies who love to mosh and surf...Hatebreed was a welcomed performance that seemed to feed the frenzied pit their desired pleasure...and in return the pits frenzied acceptance fed Hatebreed as well... It was a beautiful shared mutual love between crowd and band....may their traveled path be half as wild and frenzied as our beloved Jersey pit at the Starland Ballroom - then their tour will be well worth traveling and their fans well fed!!!

Hope they're return to Jersey soon !!! Great show!!!

Making you pump your fist and roar along since forever, hatebreed were pretty phenomonal. the whole crowd had fists and horns in the air readily everytime jamie jasta screamed the bouncing lyrics out from in front of the hardcore sound wall that is Hatebreed. In a big Venue like the roundhouse, with most of the patrons there to see the headliners Volbeat, they certainly stirred up their loyal fanbase into circlepits moshing and having the crowd sing back everyword to a selection of their tunes Definetly recommend going to a hatebreed concert though make sure your in the pit for the best bits!

It was the best fucking concert i've ever been to, and i've been to many! The hall was rather small and not filled so everybody had enough room, the mosh and circle pits were brutal but fun and the two bands were amazingly good! A lot of interaction with the crowd what i love!! Would totally do it again!!

I had an unbelievable night, I wasn't really feeling Twitching Tongues, but The Acacia Strain and Crowbar were amazing and Hatebreed brought down the house!! I always have an unbelievable time when I come to First Ave., it is one of my favorite venues to go to no matter what band/bands I see.

Being from NY, there is a lot of history with Hatebreed so every show they get so much love. The crowd is always rowdy and you will get beer thrown on you. This show was just as good as any other, they let us pick some songs and they played back to back...no b s.

Hatebreed is always the BEST to see live! The 25th anniversary tour was all you could hope for! Took me back to better times. I was almost as good as seeing them for the first time like i did in 2001! Can't wait to see these guys come through Chicago again!

It was crazy good! The mosh pit was in full force. It looked like a riot at times, but at the end of every song it was all smiles.what a great way to spend a monday night.

Devildriver was awesome as well, so much so that I bought the cd at the club.
