The Eagles are saying a lot of farewells on their Long Goodbye Final Tour — not just to life on the road, but also to the countless friends they’ve lost along the way.

Eagles Add 6 More Dates to The Long Goodbye Tour: Here’s How to Score Tickets

Trending on billboard.

Throughout their 21-song set, the Eagles sprinkled in tributes to peers they’ve lost, including bandmates Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner. Of course, Frey died back in 2016, and his son Deacon Frey, now 31, has been filling in for his late dad (alongside Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill) in the band since their Classic West performance at Dodger Stadium in 2017 . Founding member Meisner — who left the band after 1976’s Hotel California album — died this past summer , so this is the band’s first tour since.

“We’re going to dedicate this to the memory of Mr. Randy Meisner,” Henley said to introduce “Take It to the Limit,” which was the band’s only single to feature the bassist on lead vocals and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976 and spent 23 weeks on the chart — their longest-charting hit on the tally. “Sing it with him,” Henley implored, as Gill took over on Meisner’s sky-high vocals.

Frey tributes were sprinkled throughout the night — basically any time Deacon and Gill took the lead on his signature songs — and after the mellow “Peaceful Easy Feeling” wrapped up, Glenn’s picture appeared on the big screen.

Steely Dan served as the opening act, doing a robust 12-song set and remembering some friends of their own, with lead singer Donald Fagen making sure to shout out his band co-founder Walter Becker, who died in 2017 .

The Long Goodbye Final Tour picks back up Tuesday at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, Calif., and wraps up March 16 at Charlotte, N.C.’s Spectrum Center.

The Eagles announce ‘Long Goodbye’ farewell tour: ‘This is our swan song’

The Eagles have taken it to the limit.

The legendary rock group has announced its final tour, dubbed “The Long Goodbye.”

“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful,” the band said in a statement . “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.”

Thirteen shows have initially been announced, with more to come.

“During ‘The Long Goodbye,’ the Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025,” a press release for the tour said.

The Eagles plan to give their fans one final thrill in their last tour.

The band says “the difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights” may result in returning to select cities for additional dates, if the interest is there.

“Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music,” the group said. “At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

The Eagles are one of music's most enduring acts. Formed in 1971, they have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide and won six Grammy Awards, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Their album "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" is the bestselling album in history, certified 38 times platinum.

Where will the Eagles perform during their farewell tour?

The first batch of shows will kick off Sept. 7 in New York City. Here is the full slate of dates that have been announced so far.

  • Sept. 7 — New York City — Madison Square Garden
  • Sept. 11 — Boston — TD Garden
  • Sept. 16 — Newark, New Jersey — Prudential Center
  • Sept. 20 — Belmont Park, New York — UBS Arena
  • Oct. 5 — Denver — Ball Arena
  • Oct. 9 — Indianapolis — Gainbridge Fieldhouse
  • Oct. 13 — Detroit — Little Caesars Arena
  • Oct. 17 — Cleveland — Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
  • Nov. 2 — Atlanta — State Farm Arena
  • Nov. 7 — Charlotte, North Carolina — Spectrum Center
  • Nov. 9 — Raleigh, North Carolina — PNC Arena
  • Nov. 14 — Lexington, Kentucky — Rupp Arena
  • Nov. 17 — St. Paul, Minnesota — Xcel Energy Center

Who will join the Eagles on their farewell tour?

Steely Dan, who, like the Eagles, is in the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame, will join the band on the tour.

How do I get tickets to the Eagles' farewell tour?

Presale tickets and VIP packages will go on sale July 12 for all announced shows, while a general on-sale will begin July 14 at 10 a.m. local time.

Eagles Join Parade of Acts on Final Tours With a ‘Long Goodbye’

The band, which performed a “farewell” tour in 2003, will begin what’s billed as a last run of dates in September.

Five men stand in a line onstage in front of a drum set and other instruments with their arms around each other, as though saying goodbye at the end of a concert.

By Ben Sisario

Eagles are touring for the last time. Again.

The band, whose country-tinged rock hits in the 1970s like “Hotel California” and “Life in the Fast Lane” made it one of the biggest-selling acts of all time, announced the Long Goodbye on Thursday, booked as the group’s final tour.

The tour — featuring the core Eagles members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, along with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey (whose father was Glenn Frey, an original Eagle) — is set to open at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 7. That is the first of an initial batch of 13 dates mostly on the East Coast through Nov. 17, with Steely Dan as the opening act. In a statement, the Eagles floated the possibility of longer runs at each venue, saying they would “perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands.” The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

As longtime Eagles fans know, this is not the first time the band has signaled a sunset run. Back in 2003, it embarked on a tour called Farewell I . But there is good reason to believe they may be nearing the end. Glenn Frey, one of the group’s founding members, died in 2016 . Henley, the only member from its founding in 1971 who is still in the band, is 75; in an appearance before a Congressional committee in 2020 about copyright law, he said he was “in the final chapter of my career.” (Or maybe not. Bob Dylan, who is 82, is on a tour planned into 2024 , and the 86-year-old blues guitar hero Buddy Guy is on his own goodbye outing.)

Farewell tours have a way of winding on for years, and can be huge moneymakers. Kiss did its first in 2000 and has had more than a dozen tours since then; its End of the Road Tour started in 2019 and has dates booked through December. Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour began in 2018 and is set to finally conclude this weekend in Sweden, with at least $910 million in ticket sales, according to Billboard.

Among others now on their self-described final tours are Aerosmith, Foreigner, the punk band NOFX and Dead & Company, featuring original members of the Grateful Dead with John Mayer.

LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye”  will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan,  will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.  In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.  Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum.  After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

After more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles are bidding a fond farewell to life in the fast lane.

The legendary rock band has announced that their upcoming tour, The Long Goodbye, will officially be their last.

"Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle," the group said in a statement. "The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round."

The "Hotel California" crooners, who will be joined on the road by fellow Hall of Fame inductees Steely Dan , will kick off their tour in September with a performance at Madison Square Garden. Although the current show dates will feature the Eagles — members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey — rocking out until November across the East Coast, the band anticipates the tour will actually carry on much longer, as they plan to "return to certain cities depending on demand." A press release notes that the tour is expected to continue into 2025.

"We hope to see as many of you as we can before we finish up," they said. "Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on."

The Eagles, known for their California sunshine–infused singles like "Take It Easy" and "Tequila Sunrise," have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and won six Grammys over the course of their 50-year career. The band's compilation album, titled Greatest Hits 1971-1977 , is the best-selling album of all time.

The Eagles are officially coming to the Las Vegas Sphere: Dates and ticket details

eagles last concert tour

The Eagles’ long and winding road to goodbye will go through Las Vegas this fall.

The band will become the fourth act to play the snazzy Sphere when their farewell tour, The Long Goodbye , pulls into the venue for eight dates: Sept. 20-21; Sept. 27-28; Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 18-19.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 21 at eagles.com. Tickets start at $175 (all-in pricing).

Registration for the band's presale is available now on the Eagles' site. The presale begins at 1 p.m. ET June 18, while a Live Nation presale starts at 1 p.m. ET June 20. A limited number of VIP packages will also go on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 18 on the band's website.

The Eagles playing the Sphere hasn’t been the best-kept secret . In May, James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment Co., mentioned on an earnings call the Eagles would be the next act to explore the creative and visual opportunities that come with playing the nine-month-old venue.

The band, which kicked off its farewell tour in September, will follow rapturously received residencies by U2, who christened the venue last fall, Phish and, currently, Dead & Company .

The Grateful Dead offshoot band fronted by Bob Weir and including John Mayer and Mickey Hart, are in the midst of a recently expanded 30-date run that will wrap Aug. 10.

All three of the acts who have parked at the Sphere have captivated crowds with awe-inspiring visual elements – rolling video that makes the room feel as if it’s moving, band images incorporated into TV sets, walls of backstage passes that envelop the inside of the venue – projected onto the 160,000-square-foot LED screen that wraps the interior.

The Eagles , currently touring Europe, have a set list stocked with their more laid-back hits in the first half (“Take it Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “Take it To the Limit”) that builds to rollicking rockers including “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Already Gone” as the show continues.

The Eagles Announce 'The Long Goodbye' Final Tour: 'The Time Has Come to Close the Circle'

The band's last ever tour begins on Sept. 7 in New York City

The Eagles are soaring one final time!

On Thursday, the band announced that after more than 50 years of touring and 150 million albums sold worldwide, their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” tour will be their last.

“Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages,” the band said in an emotional statement.

"The Long Goodbye" tour will feature Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — son of the late Glenn Frey , one of the founding members of the band — and begins on Sept. 7, 2023, in New York City.

The band said they hoped to see as many fans as possible on the final tour and announced 13 initial dates across America, along with support act Steely Dan .

Never miss a story — sign up for  PEOPLE's free weekly newsletter  to get the biggest news of the week delivered to your inbox every Friday.

In their announcement, the band also noted the long, and at times challenging, journey since they formed in 1972.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” they said, adding thanks to their management team, road crew and backup musicians.

Deacon, 30, rejoins The Eagles for the final tour after it was announced last year that he was leaving the band after 4 and a half years to “forge his own path.” He initially joined the band in 2017 after his father Glenn died in 2016 at 67 years old.

During an illustrious career spanning more than five decades and six No. 1 albums, the band's 1976 album “Hotel California” and its eponymous title track remain their most well-known and well-loved music. “Every band has a peak, and that was ours,” drummer and vocalist Henley told Rolling Stone in 2016 .

Despite winning two Grammy awards, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and receiving the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016, the band made it clear that, for them, it’s all about the fans.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades," they said in their release.

“This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”  Presale tickets and VIP packages for 'The Long Goodbye' are available from July 12 for all announced shows. General ticket sales open Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m.

The Eagles announce final tour, including Detroit show in October: ‘This is our swan song’

We’re getting to the end of the long run: The Eagles will play Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 13, part of a fall U.S. tour as the band begins to wrap up a half-century career.

Don Henley and company announced Thursday morning the Eagles are embarking on a farewell tour dubbed the Long Goodbye, starting with 13 cities this autumn and expected to run through 2025. Steely Dan has been tapped to open.

“Everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle,” the band said in a statement.

Tickets for the LCA date and the other fall shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. July 14 through Ticketmaster. A presale will start July 12.

This won’t necessarily be the final Detroit show for the Eagles, whose Motor City concert career began in 1972 as a support act for bands such as Yes and Mahavishnu Orchestra. The band indicated Thursday it plans to “perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands.”

The current Eagles lineup includes vocalist-drummer Henley, guitarist Joe Walsh and bassist Timothy B. Schmit. Also aboard is Vince Gill, who joined the group in 2017 following the death of cofounder and Detroit native Glenn Frey.

The band's full statement:

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years.

“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.  So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set.

“The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

The Eagles are touching down in Las Vegas.

The long-running rock band announced Thursday that it will play eight shows at Sphere, the $2-billion venue with the wraparound video screen just off the Vegas Strip, over four weekends this fall starting Sept. 20. Tickets for the concerts, the last of which is scheduled for Oct. 19, are set to go on sale June 21 (though presale access will be available to various groups as early as June 18).

The Sphere residency ostensibly comes as part of the Eagles’ so-called Long Goodbye, a farewell tour that launched in September — seven years after the death of co-founder Glenn Frey — and stopped at Inglewood’s Kia Forum for four nights in January.

A victory lap 50 years in the making: The Eagles say goodbye (maybe) at the Forum

The Eagles, with some help from special guest J.D. Souther, began their Long Goodbye to L.A. audiences with a sold-out show at the band’s ‘home field.’

Jan. 6, 2024

“Welcome to whatever this is,” singer Don Henley said with a smile to greet the crowd at the first of those Forum gigs. The band has said it will keep adding dates according to audience demand.

The Eagles will become the fourth musical act to play Sphere following U2 , which opened the building last year, Phish and Dead & Company, which is in the middle of a 30-show residency set to run through mid-August.

Last week the venue made news when a Phish fan said he’d received a letter from Sphere prohibiting him from entering the venue after he posted a video of himself taking a bong hit during a concert. Sphere later said it had rescinded the ban.

Jason Kelce Shared Priceless Moment With Young Eagles Fan at Taylor Swift Concert

Former Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce was in London, England this past weekend where he was seen taking in some Taylor Swift concerts with his wife, Kylie, and his brother, Travis Kelce, who has been dating the pop star since last year.

Kelce, who retired from the NFL shortly after last season, still has fans all over the world and he ran into one while heading into one of Swift's shows. The young fan was wearing Kelce's Eagles jersey and his reaction to running into him was too good.

Look at the kid's face during this priceless interaction:

Just wanna say a massive thank you to @JasonKelce if we did not already know it what a legend you are and for your wife to record it. We will be forever greatful for this interaction, even the shock it caused 😂 #newheightsshow #eagles @newheightshow #kelce #gobirds pic.twitter.com/5vTUb75JEh — baz (@bjw007) June 24, 2024

Never change, Jason Kelce.

He’s back to making her feel “So High School.”

Travis Kelce was spotted at Taylor Swift’s first London Eras Tour stop at the famed Wembley Stadium on Friday after not being publicly seen with the pop star since last month.

An excited fan recorded the NFL star signing her “New Heights” hat from the VIP tent — where he stood with pals — before the concert began.

Kelce, 34, was joined by his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Kylie, who took in their first show of the world tour.

Travis’ look-alike pal, Ross, also made the trip across the pond to watch Swift do her thing.

“Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan , “Queer Eye” alum Jonathan van Ness and model Cara Delevingne were also in attendance.

The retired Eagles center was seen wearing a slew of friendship bracelets on his wrist as he graciously traded them with excited Swifties in the audience.

Fans learned Jason, 36, might be attending the event earlier in the day after he was spotted taking photos with fans at a pub in London following a quick jaunt to the South of France for the Cannes Lions Festival .

The Kansas City Chiefs star — who joined his brother at Cannes Lions to record their “New Heights” podcast — entered the venue after his brother and sister-in-law, but still managed to make it before the 34-year-old pop star hit the stage.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

“We do have a lot of new football fans coming in,” Travis shared. “So not just talking football like we would in the locker room, trying to, like, necessarily dumb it down or make it more simple so that everybody can follow along and still enjoy the show.”

Jason chimed in, adding that the podcast has brought together fathers and daughters as young girls want to “get involved in a sport where previously there wasn’t much interest.”

Meanwhile, the last time Travis attended the international leg of Swift’s tour was May 12 in Paris.

At the time, pals Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper joined the three-time Super Bowl winner as they showed their support for the pop icon.

Following the concert, Swift and Travis headed south to Italy for a romantic getaway to Lake Como.

They stayed at a $21,000-per-night villa and were spotted enjoying a romantic dinner and taking a private boat ride around town.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

The couple is approaching their one-year anniversary. They’ve been dating since last summer after the NFL star attempted – and failed – to give his girlfriend his phone number at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, Mo., in July 2023.

They took their romance public in September 2023 as Swift attended her beau’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Sources previously told Page Six the “Cruel Summer” singer and Travis plan to get engaged this summer.

Madonna has the highest-grossing worldwide tour of 2024 thus far, according to Pollstar’s mid-year report , thanks to the success of her “Celebration Tour.” With average ticket prices of $208.85, the pop icon had an average gross of $2,794,007 with 13,378 average tickets sold, making for a total of 856,247 in ticket sales across 34 reported shows out of 65 dates.

Not all promoters or tours report their numbers, or all of their numbers, to Pollstar, which was acquired by Irving Azoff and Tim Lieweke’s Oak View Group in 2017, but its statistics certainly reveal a large number of trends.

Bad Bunny trails closely behind Madonna with $174.6 million from his “Most Wanted Tour,” while Luis Miguel follows him with $169.4 million, U2 ranks at No. 4 with $135 million from the band’s Sphere residency and Karol G rounds out the top five with $111 million. The top 10 continues with Bruno Mars ($102 million), Coldplay ($100 million), Seventeen ($74 million), Eagles ($69 million) and Nicki Minaj ($66 million).

On a macro scale, overall global gross in 2024 topped $3 billion for the first time, up from $2.83 billion in 2023. Last year had exponential growth over 2022, which touted a global gross of $1.87 billion. Average gross in 2024 was slightly down from last year, with $1.37 million versus $1.47 million, while ticket sales remained nearly the same (24.1 million in 2024 versus 24.3 million in 2023). Average ticket prices increased from $116 to $127 year over year, even though average tickets sold per show dipped from 12,655 to 10,767.

In North America, Bad Bunny topped the total gross tally with $174.6 million. Madonna sits behind him with $148 million, followed by U2 ($135 million), Luis Miguel ($100 million) and Eagles ($69 million). Overall gross in the region totaled $2.33 billion, a boost of 18.7 percent over last year’s $1.96 billion. Total tickets sold was up 17.6 million compared to 2023’s 16.32 million, while average number of tickets sold dipped from 2023’s 9,071 to 8,252.

The report comes amid a year of strong ticket sales contrasted by reports of major artists canceling their tours. In the past few months, the Black Keys nixed their international arena tour , while Jennifer Lopez followed suit in the wake of rebranding her tour from focusing on her new album to a greatest hits show.
