Where Is Disneyland Paris

Despite the name, Disneyland Paris is actually around 20 miles outside of Paris city centre. Paris is a busy and crowded city so it makes sense that the sprawling Disneyland Paris parks would need a bit more space. But Disney, and Paris, are aware that you might want to spend some time in Paris whilst you are visiting, so they have made it super easy to travel from Paris to Disneyland Paris.

How Long Does It Take To Get From Paris To Disneyland Paris?

This depends on where you are staying in Paris, but from the city centre it takes roughly 45 minutes using the RER train, 1 hour and 30 minutes getting the Disney shuttle bus and 40 minutes to drive. Taking the bus or driving yourself to the parks is dependent on traffic conditions so bear that in mind when you’re planning your journey, especially if you are travelling during rush hour (Monday- Friday, between 7:30-9:00am and 5:00-6:00pm).

If you are going straight to the parks from the airport, it takes around 1 hour by shuttle bus from either Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports. Alternatively, you can take the express train from Charles de Gaulle and be at Disneyland Paris in around 15 minutes, although there are some issues with using this method as we’ll explain.

Transportation Options For Getting From Paris To Disneyland Paris

Paris has a pretty comprehensive train and metro system that allows locals and tourists to travel conveniently to various destinations by public transport. The RER is slightly different from the Paris Metro as it links Paris with other destinations rather than inside Paris city centre.

The RER has lettered lines, rather than the numbered lines of the Metro, and these have a corresponding colour on the train map, which can be found in stations, on the trains and on various apps and websites as well as paper copies being available. To get from Paris to Disneyland Paris you need to take the RER A line, the red line, east ( ost ) to Marne-la-Vallee–Chessy. In most stations, although not all of them, the sign for this route will feature a prominent Mickey head so you know it’s heading to Disneyland.

The RER A splits into two paths so make sure you board the train going to Marne-la-Vallee. The platforms at the station will tell you the destination the next train is going to, and the train itself will display its final destination. Again, most of these signs will feature a Mickey head, but not all so pay attention to the trains destination before you board.

Using the system is very similar to any metro/train system that uses automated turnstiles, which means you need to have your ticket available at the start, and the end, of your journey. You will need to scan your ticket to exit the station at Disneyland, so make sure you don’t lose it on your journey and keep it somewhere easy to access so you can move through the station with ease.

Parisians use the metro a lot and there are a number of unwritten rules that they tend to abide by. These will likely be lesser on the RER A line as it is often filled with tourists heading to Disneyland Paris but it is good to be aware of them nonetheless. For one, it is considered rude to eat on the train so try not to plan on eating your breakfast on the train on the way there. It is also considered rude to talk on the phone or have loud conversations whilst you’re on the train, as well as to sit on the foldable chairs whilst other people are standing.

You will need to get to a station that is serviced by the RER A line but once you’re on it, it’s a straight shot to Disneyland and the station is right at the gates to the park so this is one of the simplest ways to get to the parks from Paris city centre.

How To Buy Train Tickets From Paris To Disneyland Paris

There are a number of ways to purchase train tickets to travel from Paris to Disneyland Paris. The system works on a zone system so the ticket price depends on your starting destination and your final destination. However, you buy your tickets you will need to specify where you are travelling to so that you can buy the right type of ticket.

The easiest way is probably to buy a ticket from an attendant at the station. There are automated machines in the stations to purchase tickets but they can be a little funny about taking card payments, especially if you have a card without a chip and pin option, and some machines can only take cash payments.

The attendants are able to take different payments much easier but there can be longer queues to purchase tickets this way.

A lot of locals who use the trains use a Navigo Pass which they can add season tickets to or top up with money so they don’t have to worry about buying tickets every day or for specific destinations. For tourists, or for people who use the metro infrequently, there is the Navigo Easy Pass which can be purchased for an additional 2€ and topped up whenever you need to.

This can be a more convenient way of having tickets if you’re making a number of trips as you don’t need to keep track of a bunch of paper tickets.

The Paris metro is attempting to become paperless so in 2019 they rolled out the ViaNavigo app which allows users to purchase tickets through the app and use their phones as their tickets.

This is a super convenient way to travel as the app can be used in a number of different languages however currently it is only available to Samsung users. The app is available on Apple devices but does not allow for ticket purchase within the app.

Paris does run public buses but if you are looking for a public transport option to get from Paris to Disneyland Paris then the RER is a lot cheaper and much simpler. Disneyland Paris do offer a shuttle bus service, however, that services the city centre.

It is called the Disneyland Paris Express and can be added on when you are purchasing park tickets. You cannot buy this service on its own, it can only be purchased with park tickets, so if you already have tickets then this is not the best option for you.

Disneyland Paris Express offers 2 shuttle services. One has pickups/drop-offs at Gare du Nord , Opéra and Châtelet and the other is from the Eiffel Tower area. Shuttle 1 has pickups at Gard du Nord at 8:20am, Opéra at 8:30am and Châtelet at 8:45am. Shuttle 2 picks up at the Eiffel Tower at 8:10am.

Both shuttles arrive at the parks by 10am but this is dependent on traffic so could be earlier. The shuttle then departs the park at either 8 or 9pm depending on the seasonal opening hours. It is advised that you arrive at the pickup points at least 15 minutes before the departure time to make sure everyone has enough time to get on board.

Mickey standing in front of the Disney Express bus

It is possible to drive from Paris to Disneyland Paris and Disneyland has a large area devoted to carparks but driving in Paris can be a bit of a pain. If your trip to France includes more than Paris then hiring a car can be a good way to save money. Some areas of France are quite remote and offer beautiful driving routes so having a car can be an advantage.

However Paris itself is not particularly car-friendly due to narrow streets, lots of roundabouts and angry Parisian drivers. If your only excursion outside of Paris is Disneyland then hiring a car may not be the best idea.

It’s a 40 minute drive from Paris to Disneyland Paris and involves driving for roughly 34 miles on the A4 motorway. The route features signs to Disneyland and once you exit the motorway it is a 2-minute drive to the parks.

If you do hire a car in Paris there are a number of things you need to know. It is a legal requirement in France that your car has an emergency stop sign, a reflecting jacket for every passenger, and a single-use breathalyzer.

Your hire company should provide all of these items but make sure you check and know where they are in case you are asked. If you are driving your own car in Paris then you will need to pack these items for yourself.

All cars driving in Paris are also required to display a clean air sticker which shows how much pollution the car produces. These will already be on a rental car if you hire it in France but you would need to have one produced for your own car if you choose to drive that to Paris.

Children under the age of 10 are not allowed by law to ride in the front seat and no hands-free or Bluetooth devices can be used in the car at all. Cars are also not permitted to carry speed camera detectors or use Satnavs with a speed camera function.

It is also worth noting that gazole in French is diesel, whilst petrol is essence . So make sure you’re filling up your car with the correct fuel type to avoid any breakdowns.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from Paris Airports

If you are travelling to Paris exclusively to visit Disneyland Paris then there are transport options that will take you straight from the airports to the parks. Disney run a Magical Shuttle airport bus which picks you up from either Charles de Gaulle or Orly Airport and takes you straight to the various Disneyland Paris hotels. This takes roughly an hour and can be added when you are buying your holiday package or added separately later.

There are also commercial shuttle bus options which follow a similar route and may be cheaper than the official Disney option. Some airlines offer this service as an additional extra when booking your flights.

Charles de Gaulle also has an express train service which connects the airport with Marne-la-Vallee. The TGV train is a highspeed train that travels between the different cities of France. Due to its speed, it only takes 9 minutes from Charles de Gaulle airport to the Marne-la-Vallee station at the entrance to Disneyland Paris.

If you are flying into CDG airport, make sure to check out our post about how to get from Charles De Gaulle to Disneyland Paris!

However, the trains run at odd times throughout the day and there can sometimes be up to a 2 hour gap between trains, so if you miss your train you could be in for a long wait at the station. It therefore depends when your flight arrives if this is a feasible option for you, but if you can get one of these then it is by far the quickest option.

Disneyland Paris is such a magical place and it’s important that you are able to make the most of your time there, so having a worry-free journey is the best way to start. This guide should provide you with everything you need to know to travel smoothly between Paris and Disneyland Paris so your entire trip is as wonderful as possible.

Heading out on a magical journey to Disneyland Paris and trying to figure out the best way to get there?

You’re in the right place!

disneyland paris

Whether you’re landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport with your eyes wide or waving goodbye to the Eiffel Tower from the center of Paris, the labyrinth of train tickets, RER lines, and finding the right platform can feel like you’re trying to navigate a maze without a map.

That’s where this guide comes in.

Imagine me as your friendly neighborhood GPS, minus the annoying rerouting voice. Forget about being lost in translation at ticket offices or wondering if your own car will turn into a pumpkin.

I’m here to lay out all the travel options to Disneyland Paris – from the direct train that zooms you faster than Aladdin’s magic carpet, to navigating the metro stations like a pro.

First time or not, whether you’re clutching debit cards or waving your credit cards, I’ll guide you through the purchase of that golden ticket (or billet Ile-de-France) to getting to Disney’s wonderland.

In this post, you'll find...

Understanding Your Starting Point in Paris

First, you’ll need to pinpoint your starting location. Are you staying near the  Eiffel Tower , hitting the shops in central Paris, or catching a train from  Gare du Nord ?

It’s essential to know your point A so you can efficiently find your way to point D – Disneyland!

Suppose you’re landing in one of the airports, like  Charles de Gaulle  or  Orly . In that case, you’ll want to hop on the train or shuttle to the Paris city center, whichever is more convenient for you.

If you’re starting from the city center already – good news, the journey will be much easier for you!

Public Transportation Options

Navigating public transportation can feel like a maze sometimes, especially when you’re in a foreign country. Fear not! I’ve got your back.

I’ll help you find your way from Paris to Disneyland Paris using different options.

1. Taking the RER Train (RER A)

Let me introduce you to your new best friend in Paris: the RER train. Think of it as the superhero that swoops in to save you from getting lost in the City of Love.

To reach Disneyland Paris, you’ll need to hop on the RER A train line towards Marne-la-Vallée station.

disneyland paris travel from paris

This red train line will take you directly to Disneyland Paris from the center of Paris (approx 1 hr).

You can get to the RER A line from multiple stations, but the two most common are Châtelet-Les Halles and Charles de Gaulle – Étoile .

  • From Châtelet-Les Halles (5 minutes from Gare du Nord )
  • From Charles de Gaulle – Étoile (10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower )

Here’s your action plan for getting to Disneyland Paris via the RER train:

  • Find the nearest RER station ticket window or billet Île-de-France ticket machines
  • Purchase a ticket to Marne-la-Vallée station
  • Follow the Mickey head signs to reach the Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy station (the last stop), which is just a 10-minute walk from the Disneyland park
  • Keep your ticket handy, you’ll need it for the exit gates.
💡 Remember : During rush hour, trains can be crowded – so always be mindful of your belongings and take safety measures to keep your bags safe.

2. Metro and Tram Services

You might have heard people mention using the metro and tram to get to Disneyland.

Well, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it won’t be the fastest or most efficient option.

disneyland paris travel from paris

To reach Disneyland Paris via this method, you’d need to switch between metro line 7, tram T4, and finally the RER A.

Sounds like a wild goose chase, doesn’t it?

💡 Your best option is to take the metro or the tram to a station that connects directly to the RER A train line.

This includes the following stations:

  • Charles de Gaulle-Etoile
  • Chatelet Les Halles
  • Gare de Lyon

Once here, hop on the RER A line towards Marne-la-Valée station. You’ll ride the train all the way to the end of the line, and get off at Marne-la-Valée which leads you right into the park.

Private Transportation Choices

Sometimes, you just want to kick back and let someone else take care of the driving.

Private transportation options are perfect for you if you’re looking for a stress-free way to get from Paris to Disneyland Paris.

Let’s dive into some options like hiring a taxi or ride-share service and renting a car.

Hiring a Taxi or Ride-Share Service

Your first option for private transportation is grabbing a taxi or using a ride-share service like Uber .

uber in paris

Taxis are readily available in Paris, and you can simply wave one down, just like in the movies! If you prefer the comfort of your smartphone, ride-sharing apps are also popular in the city.

The journey takes around 90 minutes to an hour depending on traffic, so you’ll have time to practice your best Disney character impressions!

💡 Keep in mind that prices for taxi or ride-share services can vary, so it’s essential to budget accordingly. Expect to pay anywhere from €60 and upwards for a ride from the center of Paris to Disneyland.

Alternatively, if you’re traveling with the whole family or a larger group, consider arranging for a private transfer. This option offers a more comfortable and convenient way to reach Disneyland, as well as giving you the peace of mind knowing your magical adventure is starting on the right foot.

Renting a Car

If you want the ultimate freedom to explore Paris and beyond, renting a car might be your best option.

There are numerous car rental agencies available near Gare de Lyon and other locations around the city.

Remember that driving in Paris is an adventure on its own, so make sure you’re confident navigating the Parisian streets like a champ!

When renting a car, you’ll typically be handed the keys to your own magic carpet to glide through the city at your leisure. Just make sure you return it by the agreed time, or you might find your fairy godmother charging you extra fees.

Once you hop in your rental car, it’s about a 90-minute drive from Paris city center to Disneyland Paris.

Parking is available at the resort, so you’ll know your trusty steed has a safe place to rest after your journey. Keep in mind that while driving to Disneyland Paris offers flexibility, it also comes with the responsibility of adhering to French traffic rules and regulations.

Practical Tips for Travelers

Best times to travel.

Traveling from Paris to Disneyland Paris can be super fun, and you might be tempted to grab your Mickey ears and hop on the first train out. But timing can make a world of difference, especially if you want to avoid crowds.

To maximize your experience, consider heading out during off-peak hours, such as early morning (before 9 am) or late afternoon.

I highly recommend leaving as early as possible, to maximize your time in the park.

Disneyland Paris closes at 10pm daily, so leaving in the early morning gives you the most amount of time to explore the park and its surrounding shops before closing time.

Here are some important details you’d want to know:

  • There are wheelchair and scooter rentals available, should you need them. Check the  Disneyland Paris website  for more details on accessibility services.

RER A Paris Stations Line Map

RER A city trains travel from central Paris to Disneyland throughout the day at roughly 15 minute intervals from five large central Paris RER A Stations: Charles de Gaulle Etoile (at Arc de Triomphe), Auber (at Galeries Lafayette shopping center), Chatelet Les Halles (massive underground shopping centre and largest underground/subway station in the world), Gare de Lyon (largest Paris train station), and Nation.

Tickets & Passes – RER Paris to Disneyland Paris

A single one way ticket, a billet Ile-de-France , from central Paris to Disney costs 5€ ( as of January 4, 2024). You can buy these tickets from any metro or RER station ticket window or from the automated ticket vending machines (using coins or smart-chip enabled credit cards) within stations. You can start your journey from any Metro / RER station within central Paris ( Zone 1 ) using this one ticket and simply transfer to the RER A train line if you’re not already on it. You don’t need to buy a separate ticket just for the metro portion of your trip. The normal metro ticket t+ will not work for this trip since Marne la Vallée / Parc Disney is in Zone 5 .

The following passes are accepted for traveling from Paris to DisneyLand:

  • Paris Visite card 5 zone (not 1 – 3 zone),
  • Pass Navigo or Pass Navigo Decouverte with 5 zone, week/month (semaine/menseul) pass,
  • Navigo Day pass 5 zone (RER/Metro/Bus/Tram day pass)

Inside an RER Station

From inside any of the above mentioned Paris RER stations, you’ll want to take RER A train in direction Marne-la-Vallée, but keep in mind that the direction may also read Boissy-St-Léger such as in the photo below.

disneyland paris travel from paris

You’ll find station panels and signs similar to the one above at any of the above RER A stations. Follow these signs to the correct RER A train platforms. At certain stations, Chatelet Les Halles and Gare de Lyon for example, these RER train signs & panels will lead you to a single central platform with RER trains running along either side in opposite directions. To avoid confusion as to which side is the correct direction look up at the RER station stop panels hanging above each side of the train platform such as the one shown here:

RER A Station Panel Direction Poissy, Cergy-Le Haut

Each station along the line will be shown on these panels, but the next train to arrive will only stop at stations names lit with a yellow square (the left half in the previous photo). Thus, these panels serve two purposes:

  • to indicate that you’re on the correct side of the platform: if you see your arrival station on the panel, you’re at least on the correct side of the platform. In this case you’d want to see Marne La Vallée – Chessy as one of the stations.
  • to indicate whether the next train will stop at your desired station. If Marne La Vallée – Chessy is lit with a yellow square, take the train. If not, wait for a train that will stop at Marne La Vallée/Parc Disney.

Once on board a RER A train to DisneyLand Paris, remember to keep your ticket handy throughout your trip as you may be asked to show it to ticket checkers, known as controllers in France. If you fail to produce a valid ticket the controller will charge you a fine somewhere in the range of €40 payable on the spot through credit or debit card. And even though ticket vending machines don’t take non-smart chip credit cards, the mobile credit card swipe machines these controllers carry, definitely do. At the end of your trip you’ll also need your ticket or pass to exit through the turnstiles when you arrive at Marne La Vallée / Disney.

This is the Marne La Vallée train platform at DisneyLand Paris when you arrive:

disneyland paris travel from paris

Once you exit the RER A train make your way up the escalator or stairs in the direction of the Sortie signs. This leads you to the exit (and entry) turnstiles for the RER trains as show in the following photo:

disneyland paris travel from paris

Using your billet Ile-de-France in the turnstiles allows you to pass through into the main section of the station which has an information booth, ticket window, and various shops selling newspapers/magazines and snacks.

After exiting Marne La Vallée–Chessy station, you’ll notice the motif of the station itself is Disney-like with its castle like spires.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Here’s a panoramic photo of Marne La Vallée–Chessy RER/TGV station amongst some attractions at DisneyLand Paris.

disneyland paris travel from paris

When it’s time to return to Paris, you’ll be making this trip in reverse. Within Marne La Vallée–Chessy train station, you’ll need to again purchase a Billet Ile-de-France to Paris (5€) either from a ticket vending machine or from the ticket window, pass through the turnstiles, and descend down onto the RER A train platform. The platform will be well marked with a sign indicating which train will depart next for Paris:

Planning a day trip to Disneyland Paris? This guide will tell you everything you need to know, including how to get from Paris to Disneyland for a day trip, how to get the best deal on tickets, and more.

There are few things in this world that get me as excited as Disney.

Seriously – mention the name and I regress into a sugar-crazed child, Mickey ears magically perched on my head before you can blink.

And so, living in Europe, one of my favourite days out has become the day trip from Paris to Disneyland Paris, a trip that I have now done three times… once even for my 22nd birthday, an adequately grown up way to ring in adulthood.

And throughout these visits, I have learned a thing or two about how to plan THE perfect day trip from Paris to Disneyland Paris, and having the most magical day ever without splashing out thousands on a parkside hotel (along with countless Paris tips in general).

Save this post for later on Pinterest:

So, if you’re planning your own trip to Disneyland Paris from Paris, this guide is for you, with plenty of tried and tested wisdom to help you conquer your day trip with the swiftness of a coursing river and the force of a great typhoon.

… : D

… Not sorry. Let’s begin!

*** Buying Tickets for Your Disneyland Paris Day Trip ***

Park tickets:.

If I could offer you a single tip, it would be to buy your tickets in advance here , 100%.

Lines get long, and the last thing you want to do during your Disneyland Paris day trip is rot in line while anonymous children sneeze on you.

You can get tickets easily online.

Personally, I’ve always found the official Disneyland Paris site to be overwhelming as a day tripper because they usually try to upsell you on packages and hotels, but here’s a trick – you can actually buy day passes (1 park and 2 park) quickly here on GetYourGuide for the same price as the official site, except it’s much faster and less confusing.

Transport tickets:

Later in this post, I’ll detail step by step how to buy the right ticket to get from Paris to Disneyland Paris, but first I want to warn you against common ticket scams.

Due to the high volume of tourists they receive, it’s an unfortunate truth that there are a lot of scammers in Paris who are keen to take advantage of unsuspecting visitors.

SO let’s get this out of the way, if someone random comes up to you at the train station and tries to help you buy a ticket, beware.

Often they are trying to sell you a fake ticket and pocketing the profit, or will be distracting you while someone else comes to pick your pockets.

Be on guard, because sometimes these scammers even have fake employee badges!

First – How Far is Disneyland Paris from Paris?

Alright – now let’s get to the good stuff.

To start, you should know that Disneyland Paris is located 32km east of the Paris city center, with plenty of transportation links that bring you there in about 40 minutes.

Driving takes a similar amount of time, but keep in mind you’ll need to find parking.

More conveniently, the train station is a 2 minute walk from the park gates, which means you can pretty much run from the train to the park and be there in a solid minute, undoubtedly leaving a trail of drool in your blaze of magical glory.

Getting to Disneyland Paris: Step by Step

Getting to Disneyland Paris is really easy, whether you choose to book a tour for convenience or do it yourself with public transportation. Below I’ll break down the different options for getting to Disneyland Paris, whether you’re coming from central Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport or ORLY airport.

1. How to get from Paris to Disneyland

If you’re already in Paris and simply want to add a day in Disneyland Paris as part of your itinerary, then here are the different ways you can get to Disneyland Paris.

OPTION A (Easiest!): Book a private transfer

Of course, the easiest and most stress-free way to reach Disneyland Paris from Paris is by booking a private transfer.

There are many options out there for this, but this highly rated option includes a private chaffeur, pickup/drop-off from your Paris accommodation and a park ticket all in one easy package.

disneyland paris travel from paris

OPTION B (Cheapest!): By RER A Train

The Disneyland Paris train station is known as Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy Station (sometimes abbreviated as MLV – Cheesy) , and is linked to central Paris by the RER A train which you can catch from the following stations in central Paris: Charles de Gaulle Etoile, Auber, Chatelet Les Halles, Gare de Lyon and Nation.

Overall, it takes about 40 minutes and cost €7.60.

This is the option I go for because to be honest with you, many private transfers/tours to Disneyland Paris are overpriced and every time I’ve visited Disneyland Paris, I have done so on my own by taking the RER A train.

This should be an easy enough option if you’re an experienced traveller and are travelling light.

That said, I would strongly consider a private transfer instead if you are new to Europe, to Paris, are travelling with large bags or have kids/older folks in your party.

Train travel in France isn’t difficult, but it can be intimidating for newbies and certainly not worth the stress if your goal is to simply have the most magical trip possible to Disneyland Paris.

BUT hey if you want an easy and affordable way to reach Disneyland Paris from central Paris, the RER A is a great option.

Below I’ll break down how to buy the right ticket!

disneyland paris travel from paris

How to Buy the Right Paris to Disneyland Paris Train Ticket

The Disneyland Paris train from Paris is (besides a tongue twister) known locally as the RER A. This is what you should be looking for on any signage or ticket machines, and the station you want to end up at is known as Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy Station.

Getting tickets at the machine can be deceptively confusing at first, so here’s a little guide on how to 100% buy the right ticket.

Choose English (or your language of choice) to avoid any linguistic confusion.

Many of the screens are touch-activated these days but some machines still rely on a rolling bar thing below the screen.

If your machine has one of these rolling bars, all you need to do is roll it to highlight your selection, then press the button adjacent to the bar to select it.

Sorry for babying you, but I got really confused by this on my first visit so I want to give you mega-thorough instructions juuust in case ; )

disneyland paris travel from paris

Choose “Tickets for Paris region”. Disneyland Paris, despite its name, is not in the actual Paris city center, so you need to choose region.

Alternatively, depending on what stop you’re at, you might see the option “Tickets for MLV Chessy Disney” like in the photo below.

You can also select that for a shortcut, but it isn’t available on all machines.

disneyland paris travel from paris

STEP THREE:

If you have chosen the “Tickets for Paris region” option, you will now need to type in your final destination to get the right ticket, which is Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy.

Usually just typing the first few letters will be enough to get the option to pop up.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Choose either “Full Fare” or “Reduced Fare”. Most of you will be Full Fare, but Reduced Fare applies to children aged 4-10, and a variety of other groups. Click here to see a full list.

TIP: You might want to consider buying two tickets per person so that you have your return ticket already.

This is fine because tickets aren’t validated here until you feed them through the machine.

If you choose to pre-purchase your return tickets, just make sure to keep them somewhere safe and don’t mix them up with your other tickets!

disneyland paris travel from paris

Pay up and dance! You should now have the correct ticket. Make sure you hang onto it because you’ll need it to exit the fare gates at the Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy Station.

NOTE: It goes without saying, but make sure you are getting on the right train! The RER A has two routes, only one of which will get you to Disneyland Paris (the one that says it’s going in the direction of Marne-la-Vallée).

At the stations, look for a sign that indicates the direction/final destination of the train, or even a light-up sign that shows you which stops the train will be stopping at like in the photo below.

The last thing you want is to end up somewhere faaaar away from the park!

OPTION C: Drive

I have never personally driven from central Paris to Disneyland Paris but I have heard it is a reasonably easy drive as Disneyland Paris is connected to the city by the A4 Motorway.

Click here for info from the official website about parking fees and logistics.

OPTION D (Not Recommended!): The Disneyland Paris Express

Lastly, I’m including this option as a bit of a cautionary tale to not book it (haha – don’t fight me for being honest!)

I see a lot of sites recommending the Disneyland Paris Express bus as a good option to get from central Paris to Disneyland Paris but at 109 euros a head, I don’t really see it as good value, especially since (according to the product description) you return to Paris at 8:30pm which means you miss the amazing Disney Illuminations show.

You could take public transportation for half that price, or pay a little bit extra to get a private transfer with pickup/dropoff at your own Paris accommodation here.

There are also quite a few reviews that say the buses can get full and are a bit of a logistical nightmare, so I would honestly refer to one of the options I recommended above instead.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from Charles de Gaulle Airport

If you’ll be visiting Disneyland Paris straight from Charles de Gaulle airport, then here are the different options at your disposal:

By far the most convenient way to get from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Disneyland Paris is booking a private transfer, especially if you have a lot of luggage in tow or perhaps young kids/older individuals in your group.

Surprisingly, this can be quite affordable if you’re travelling with several people.

This company for instance offers private transfers with pickup at Charles de Gaulle for less than 80 euros, which evens out to just over 26 euros per person, a small price to pay for a private pick-up and ease of mind in my opinion. Click here to browse prices and availability.

NOTE: I would recommend going with a pre-booked transfer rather than getting a taxi on the spot because I have heard a lot of nightmare stories about taxi scams in Paris and people being forced to pay well over 100 euros for a taxi ride because of factors like traffic. It would make a lot more sense to pre-book and have it at one fixed rate.

OPTION B (Fastest!): Take a TGV Train

Get this: if you hop on a TGV train from Charles de Gaulle Airport, you can be at Disneyland Paris in 10 minutes! 10 minutes! You’d usually spend more time than that waiting for your luggage or trying to find your way out of the airport.

This is how I got to the airport after my latest Disneyland Paris trip and it was very simple, albeit quite crowded.

If you are travelling light, and don’t mind potentially standing for the duration of the ride (I had to, as all seats were reserved), then this is an amazing option for less than 20 euros.

I always use Omio to compare/book options because they can show you alternative routes and times at a glance.

OPTION C (Cheapest!): Use public transportation

If you don’t mind a little bus travel, here is a secret trick to getting from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris for under 6 euros!

Catch a bus from Charles de Gaulle Terminal 3 to Torcy, then take the RER A from Torcy to Charles de Gaulle.

This might not be ideal if you have giant suitcases or impatient kids, but it’s great for saving a few bucks.

Otherwise, take the RER B and transfer onto the RER A at Chatelet Les Halles station to reach Disneyland Paris, which should cost €17.30 at full price according to the official RATP website.

disneyland paris travel from paris

OPTION D: Book a shuttle bus

Lastly, if you want a more convenient transfer but don’t want to cough up the high price tag of a private transfer, there’s a shuttle bus company called Magical Shuttle that offers one-way rides from Charles de Gaulle Airport for 23 euros one way.

Click here to check prices and availability for Magical Shuttle.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from Paris Orly Airport

And if you’ll be visiting Disneyland Paris straight from Orly airport, then here are the different options at your disposal:

By far the most convenient way to get from Orly Airport to Disneyland Paris is booking a private transfer, especially if you have a lot of luggage in tow or perhaps young kids/older individuals in your group.

This company for instance offers private transfers with pickup at Orly Airport for less than 80 euros, which evens out to just over 26 euros per person, a small price to pay for a private pick-up and ease of mind in my opinion. Click here to browse prices and availability.

OPTION B (Cheapest!): Use public transportation

For a much more affordable option, you can take public transportation to get from Orly Airport to Disneyland Paris. The downside here is of course that you have to transfer twice, and it takes longer than a private shuttle.

To get to Disneyland Paris from Orly, you would need to take the Orlyval express train to Antony (direction: Antony), hop on the RER B to Châtelet les Halles (direction: Charles de Gaulle 2), then transfer onto the RER A Marne La Vallée Chessy station (direction: direction Marne La Vallée Chessy).

Going Home – How to get from Disneyland Paris to Paris

Alright, if you’ve made it to Disneyland Paris without a hitch, I have every confidence that you’ll make it back to Paris just fine.

What you need to be mindful of though (if you’re travelling by train) are the final train times. On my last visit, I was having a bit too much fun around Disney Village and almost missed the last RER A train out of Marne la Vallée Station.

SO, don’t make the same mistake as me, make sure you know the final RER A train departure back to Paris from Disneyland Paris. The full (and confusing timetable) can be found here.

Definitely double check the timetable for yourself, but the final RER A trains from Marne la Vallée – Chessy appear to be as follows:

Monday – Friday (non holiday): 12:24am

Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 12:20am

NOTE: There are annoyingly many exceptions and random changes which is why I would advise to double check on the day of by asking a staff member or by consulting the official RATP website here.

Tips for your Disneyland Paris Day Trip

I have already written a list of my top Disneyland Paris tips , but in terms of coming up with a game plan for a 1 day Disneyland Paris day trip, I do have a few more words of advice to offer.

Since creating the perfect itinerary will vary hugely depending on your priorities (e.g. rides, attractions, meeting characters, etc.), I want to give you some loose tips rather than a structured breakdown of where to go and when… so here are my best tips for creating that perfect one day itinerary for yourself!

  • Read up on Fastpasses and create a plan around them
  • Pick your top priority rides/attractions then organize your day around them
  • Remember Walt Disney Studios closes earlier, and Disney Village is open late, so work around that
  • Download the Disneyland Paris app in advance so you can see ride times/attractions at a glance

Disneyland Paris Day Trip FAQ

Alright – almost to the end now. I assume most of your questions should be answered at this point, but if you have any more questions, here are some frequently asked questions about doing Disneyland Paris as a day trip:

Is Eurodisney the same thing as Disneyland Paris?

Short answer: yes! You might know Disneyland Paris as Eurodisney, but that’s simply an old name that isn’t really used anymore.

Is Disneyland Paris actually in Paris?

It’s in the Paris region, but you won’t find Disneyland Paris anywhere near the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe.

Instead, Disneyland Paris is officially in Marne-la-Vallée, about 32km east of Paris.

disneyland paris travel from paris

How much will a day trip to Disneyland Paris cost?

This 100% depends on your willpower!

Any day out at a Disney park is bound to be expensive, but there are of course ways to save.

At minimum, you should expect to spend 100 euros total for the day, and this is assuming you’re extremely frugal and don’t buy any souvenirs.

A 1 park ticket alone costs 56 euros, and the cheapest transport option will be about 15 euros roundtrip.

Assuming you bring your own food/snacks and refrain from buying any merch, you’ll be spending about 75 euros minimum for the day.

Of course, that’s not a realistic estimate for most!

After all, where’s the Disney magic if you don’t buy some food to eat and some souvenirs to take home?

If you plan to indulge a bit, your costs will stack up quickly.

The cheapest possible meals you can get will still be about 10-15 euros, with high end options being easily 7x that! Even the most iconic souvenir (Mickey ears) will set you back 13-20 euros depending on the pair you get.

I hope that gives you an idea of how much a Disneyland Paris day trip will cost! It’s not cheap, but I assure you that Disney is fun on any budget, and even just being there is enough to make for the most magical day.

When is the best time to visit Disneyland Paris as a day trip?

Weekdays and non-holidays in shoulder and off-season are always the best time to visit Disneyland Paris. If you’re hoping to avoid crowds, a good rule of thumb would be to avoid any times that there might be school holidays.

Otherwise, the Christmas season is especially magical with all the Christmassy decor. Click here to learn more about Christmas festivities at DLP.

disneyland paris travel from paris

What considerations should I make if I/a member of my party are differently abled?

Luckily, Disneyland Paris is very proactive on the accessibility front, with a wide variety of programs in place to help ensure that all guests have a magical time.

These programs include wheelchair rentals, priority access cards, and more.  Click here to learn more about the different accessibility measures in place at the park.

Can I rent a stroller or pushchair during my Disneyland Paris day trip?

Yes! Disneyland Paris offers (paid) stroller and pushchair rentals in two locations: 1) the Town Square Terrace near the Disneyland Park entrance and 2) at Studio Services at the Walt Disney Studios Park entrance.

Any more questions about doing a day trip from Paris to Disneyland Paris?

This was a long and thorough read, but I hope you found it helpful! Feel free to let me know in the comments if you have any more questions about planning the perfect Disneyland Paris day trip. Safe travels!

#3 Paris to Disneyland by Magic Shuttle

book your seat on the Magic Shuttle from Paris here

If you are keen on starting your Disney Adventure already with the ride to Disney, the Magic Shuttle might be a good option for you. You can book a Magic Shuttle that leaves from one of the many departure points in Paris, but also from the two airports, CDG and Orly.

When considering the Magic Shuttle for your trip to Disneyland Paris, keep in mind that only the Shuttle leaving from the Airport is serving as well the Disneyland Hotels. The Magic Shuttle that comes from Paris heads directly to the parks, without any extra stops.

Traveling by shuttle can be a low-cost option to get directly from the airport to your hotel or the park. Especially if you are traveling alone. If your group consists of 3 or 4 people, booking a Welcome Pick-up is the better option.

The Magic Shuttles are having clearly many strong points. They are relatively cheap, booking is straightforward, and they bring you right to the gates of Disneyland Paris .

However, they do have a few downsides . The shuttles are often fully booked, and you have to expect waiting times to load and unload, which can add time to your trip.

The Magic Shuttle is also not great if you plan to stay late or have dinner in the Park. The Magic Shuttle heads back to Paris at 8 pm.

The average travel time depends of course on your pick-up points and destination, but on average, it takes about an hour of travel time plus additional time for waiting and unloading.

Cost:  €23 is the cost to take the Magic Shuttle from the Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports to Disneyland. The entrance ticket for the Park is not included in the airport routes.

Travel Time : It’s about an hour of travel time to Disneyland, plus waiting and loading times.

Disneyland Entrance - how to travel from Paris to Disneyland

#4 Drive from Paris to Disneyland by Car

If you happen to be in Paris with your own or a rental car , it is of course as well an option to drive out to Disney on your own. If your hotel is having a parking place , it is certainly convenient. Especially if you are traveling with children to Disney or have a lot of luggage.

But! If you go to Disney on a day trip from Paris by car, you need to park in the parking place of Disneyland Paris and this will cost you €30. Hence, it is not worth renting a car to visit Disneyland.

Cost:  The current cost of gas plus 30€ parking (yes, thirty)

Travel Time : 40 minutes with light traffic, but easily much longer depending on departure point and peak times.

Taking a trip to Disneyland Paris is a memorable and magic experience where you want to make the most of your time. Choosing a mode of transportation that provides you with a worry-free experience is the best way to kick off your adventure from the start.

How to Get from CDG to Disneyland Paris

Here is a detailed guide on how to get from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris to help you make an informed decision.

1. How to Get to Disneyland Paris from CDG By Magical Shuttle

Me at its a small world attraction - disney

The Magic Shuttle is a very convenient shuttle bus from CDG to Disneyland Paris that offers daily connections (7 days a week) between the airport and the various hotels in or outside the park.

This shuttle also connects to other train stations and partner hotels near Disneyland Paris, which can be very convenient if you are not sleeping in one of the official Disney Hotels.

The shuttle is a large red and yellow bus with 75 comfortable seats, air conditioning, free wifi on board, and a luggage compartment to make sure that your journey is comfortable.

The departure of this magical shuttle from the airport is at terminal 2 E/F on the arrivals level, gate 8.

However, if you are not landing at Terminal 2, below are the instructions you need to follow.

How to take a train from Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris.

  • If you are in Terminal 1, you’ll have to take the airport shuttle called CDGVAL (free of charge) to get to Terminal 2F.
  • If you are in terminals 2 A/B/C/D, follow the directional signs to walk to terminal 2F.
  • Note that if you are in terminal 2G, you will need to take the N2 bus to get to terminal 2E/F to catch the magical shuttle.
  • If you are in terminal 3, take the CDGVAL to get to terminal 2F.

The Magical Shuttle has a fixed schedule! There are 4 departures in the morning at 09:00, 09:30, 10:00, and 11:00, and 7 in the afternoon at 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, and 18:45.

This magical bus from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris takes an hour on average to reach the Disney hotel area after leaving the airport.

Though you can buy the bus ticket directly from the bus driver or at the Magical Shuttle office located at the departure area, I recommend booking it here online to be guaranteed a spot.

How much does a transfer from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris by bus cost?

  • Adults and children 6 years and older: 23 €
  • Children from 3 to 11 years old: 10 €
  • Children under 3 years old: free of charge.

Who is the Magical Shuttle Perfect for?

The Magical Shuttle is ideal if you don’t want to deal with Parisian public transportation.

The price remains reasonable, but the cost can significantly increase if you’re traveling with many people.

Though there is a downside of being stuck in traffic depending on the time of the day, it is its convenience that makes it one of the best ways to travel from CGD to Disneyland Paris.

2. How to Get to Disneyland Paris from CDG By Private transfer

A private transfer is one of the ways on how to get from CDG to Disneyland Paris.

Transfers from CDG to Disneyland Paris by private car are undoubtedly some of the most luxurious and comfortable ways.

This option offers the benefit of premium service. After arriving at the airport and collecting your luggage, your driver will be waiting for you directly outside your gate to provide a personalized welcome, help you carry your luggage, and then drive you to the hotel of your choice in a luxurious and comfortable car or van.

The drive from CDG airport to Disneyland Paris takes about 45 minutes depending on the traffic conditions.

This option is certainly the most expensive but also the easiest and most comfortable for a smooth trip.

Note that the Magical Shuttle also offers a private chauffeur service and even the possibility of booking a limousine, if you can afford it!

So, if you’re all about comfort and luxury, then this is the CDG to Disneyland Paris private transfer I recommend .

3. How to Get to Disneyland Paris from CDG By High-Speed Train (TGV) And Train

If you are wondering how to get from CDG to Disneyland Paris by public transportation, then there are two existing alternatives to consider — the TGV and the suburban train.

The TGV is without a doubt the fastest and cheapest way to reach Disney Park from the airport.

There are currently 18 TGV trains running between CDG airport and Disneyland Paris daily. To catch one of them, you must go to the “ Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV ” SNCF  train station in terminal 2.

If you are arriving at terminals 2C/D/E/F, follow the GARE TGV signs to locate the station.

If you are at Terminal 1 or 3, you’ll have to take the free CDGVAL shuttle bus to the “ Terminal 2 Gare ” stop.

If you are arriving at Terminal 2A, take the bus N1 and get off at the “ Terminal 2 Gare ” stop.

However, if you are arriving at Terminal 2G, take the free bus N2 and get off at “ Terminal 2 Gare “

Taking a TGV is one of the best ways to transfer from Paris CDG to Disneyland Paris.

The train station is divided into 5 levels which can be intimidating, but you only have to care about levels 1 and 2. You can find the Ticket booth and information desk on level 2 and the platforms and trains on level 1.

The price of a train ticket is only 19€ per person which you can buy on-site on level 2 by either using the machine or queue at the cashier desk, but I would advise booking in advance on the official website SNCF connect .

Once on the train, you will hardly have time to sit down since the ride takes only 10 to 15 minutes to reach Disneyland at the main train station called Marne La Vallée Chessy which is only a few minutes away from the park’s main entrance.

Once you arrive at this train station, you can simply walk to your hotel or take a free shuttle if it’s too far away. To choose what is best for you, just follow the directions provided by the hotel you booked.

To summarize, I believe the TGV has by far the best price/time ratio making it the best way to transfer from Paris CDG to Disneyland Paris.

Another possible solution is to take the suburban train . I strongly advise against it since you will have to go from CDG airport to the center of Paris and then from Paris to Disney, extending your travel time by more than 80 minutes!

Plus, the whole trip can be a bit complicated and exhausting if you’re carrying your luggage around. I honestly don’t think this is a good way to get from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Disneyland Paris, especially since it’s so easy with the TGV!

Psst… Before going to Disneyland Paris, make sure that you buy this entry ticket in advance to avoid wasting time in queues.

4. How to Get From CDG to Disneyland Paris By rented car

How to get from CDG to Paris

If you’re planning a road trip, then renting a car to get from Paris airport to Disneyland Paris is undoubtedly the most flexible solution as it will give you the freedom to drive wherever you want without having to follow a specific schedule!

I won’t bother to give you the price of a car rental since it varies a lot depending on the options you choose, the duration of your rental, the type of car, the number of kilometers included, the insurance, the accessories, etc.

About fifteen rent-a-car companies, including the major ones such as Hertz, Avis, Sixt, and Thrifty have an office directly at the airport in every terminal so it’ll be up to you to compare quotes. Most, if not all of them are open all day and all night from the first to the last plane.

However, I suggest booking online and using one of the many comparison websites like Kayak, Rental Cars, Liligo, or Skyscanner to find for the best deal.

Cars Road Trip is one of the best Disneyland Paris best rides.

Getting from CDG to Disneyland Paris by car is essentially possible via the A4 Motorway and is relatively easy with no significant difficulties.

The only real challenge will be when exiting the airport. It is an absolute maze and can be really intimidating. There are so many different roads here and there and if the traffic is dense, it might be quite stressful.

The GPS is absolutely essential, and I would even advise asking your travel partner to become your temporary co-driver for the duration of the trip to help you get away from CDG!

Once on the highway, the direction to Disneyland Paris is well indicated along the road.

There are about 45 kilometers (27.9 miles) between the airport and Disney, and it will take about 35 minutes to 1 hour to complete the trip, depending on the traffic conditions.

Pro tip* Hiring a car just to go from Charles de Gaulle airport to Disneyland Paris and return doesn’t really make sense budget-wise since parking at Disney also comes with a hefty price tag.

However, it is ideal if Disney is only a stopover on a long road trip through France! You can read more about my best Disneyland Paris tips here.

5. How to Get to Disneyland Paris from CDG By taxi/Uber

Taking an Uber/taxi is one of the best ways to travel from CDG to Disneyland Paris.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from CDG airport by Parisien Taxi or Uber is an excellent alternative, halfway between a private transfer and a car rental.

It is ideal if you want to enjoy the comfort of a privatized car at a moderate price while avoiding driving on French roads and dealing with French drivers!

If you want to use shared transportation services, several companies like Uber, FreeNow, Heetch, or Bolt will be at your disposal.

Each one offers more or less the same service at a closely related price. All you have to do is compare the rates on the various apps and choose one that suits you.

I would suggest booking online beforehand via the company app, but be careful when you select your pick-up time because you will need to consider the time required to get your luggage back and walk to the meeting point.

If you don’t want to book in advance, you can use the free wifi available at the airport to get your ride at the last moment.

As opposed to the Parisien Taxis, Uber/ FreeNow/Bolt cars are not allowed in the official airport taxi park, so check where your pick-up location is beforehand because your driver will not wait for you forever!

how to get to Paris from Cdg by taxi.

The best thing would be to call your driver ahead and agree on a meeting point. Still, it can be tricky if you don’t speak the language, so it’s best to check on the transporter’s application or website!

For taxis, the whole process is a bit easier. Once landed, follow the TAXI signs to reach any taxi lane available in every terminal. Once in the waiting lane, all you have to do is climb aboard the first Taxi and ask your driver to go to Disney!

But what about the price? Well, a taxi from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris will charge between 70€ to 90€ while an Uber will be slightly cheaper, around 60€ to 70€ depending on the duration of the ride.

Note that in the airport, you may be approached by people offering a taxi ride. If that happens, just politely decline and continue on your way.

These drivers are not official Parisian cabs and even if their rates may seem interesting, it is better to avoid any chance of being scammed!

You can see how both solutions offer advantages and disadvantages on how to get from CDG to Disneyland Paris.

Uber is the right choice if you don’t want to spend too much, but if you want peace of mind and keep things simple, then you should go for a Parisien taxi!

This Disney Park Is One of the Most Beautiful in the World — How to Visit

Here’s our magical guide to visiting Disneyland Paris.

Elizabeth Rhodes is a special projects editor at Travel + Leisure , covering everything from luxury hotels to theme parks to must-pack travel products. Originally from South Carolina, Elizabeth moved to New York City from London, where she started her career as a travel blogger and writer.

Disney Village

Getting there, disneyland paris day trip itinerary.

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

Since 1992, Disneyland Paris (then called Euro Disney) has welcomed more than 250 million guests to its magical theme parks and hotels. Made up of two parks (Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park), seven hotels, and a dining and shopping district called Disney Village, the theme park resort has grown into a full-blown vacation destination, and it’s only getting better. Fresh off its 30th-anniversary celebration, the opening of Avengers Campus, and the reimagining of Disneyland Hotel, Disneyland Paris recently announced big plans to completely transform Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World.

I’ve visited 10 of the 12 Disney theme parks around the world, and Disneyland Park in Paris is the most beautiful iteration of the classic castle park I’ve visited, with gorgeously crafted immersive worlds surrounding a stunning pink castle inspired by French chateaux. I went back to Disneyland Paris last month to see everything new and exciting (and re-ride everything I loved the first time) to curate a new guide featuring the best of the resort. With unique interpretations of classic Disney attractions and a few memorable rides you can’t find anywhere else, the resort is a worthwhile day trip from Paris or a multi-day getaway. From can’t-miss rides to the best restaurants and places to stay, here’s everything you need to know about visiting Disneyland Paris.

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

When it comes to high and low seasons, Disneyland Paris is similar to its U.S. counterparts: Crowds are largest during school breaks and public holidays. The summer months, long weekends, and the winter holiday season are all among the busiest times to visit Disneyland Paris, and mid-January through mid-March and mid-April through mid-May are typically less busy times to visit. This summer will undoubtedly be extra busy for Disneyland Paris as tourists worldwide flock to the French capital for the Olympics. To avoid the heaviest crowds throughout the year, plan to visit Tuesday through Thursday (and avoid weekends).

Thanks to the lineup of festive annual events, a fall trip to Disneyland Paris is always a good idea. Each year, Disneyland Paris hosts Halloween and Christmas events with seasonal decorations and eats; this year, Disney Halloween Festival will take place from Oct. 1 to Nov. 3, and Disney Enchanted Christmas will last from Nov. 9 to Jan. 6.

It’s worth noting that American tourists are likely used to the warm weather found year-round at the domestic parks in California and Florida, but Paris experiences all four seasons. Be sure to check the forecast and pack appropriately — it was very chilly when I visited in February one year, and we had to buy Mickey beanies to stay warm.

Disneyland Paris sells dated and undated tickets, with several variations depending on how many days you visit and which parks you want to visit. You can buy dated tickets for one to four days for both parks (or a single-day, single-park dated ticket). You can also purchase a single-day undated ticket to one or both parks, but these are typically more expensive. Disney uses dynamic ticket pricing, so you can check out the ticket calendar to see when you could visit to save a few bucks on admission. (Hint: cheaper days mean lower crowd levels.) For 2024, the cheapest one-park, one-day ticket currently ranges from $73 to $148.

Annual Passes

Disneyland Paris also offers three tiers of annual passes: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Bronze is 289 euros and allows holders to visit 170 days a year. The Silver Pass is 499 euros and allows guests to access the parks 300 out of 365 days each year. Silver pass holders can also enjoy 10 percent discounts at shops and restaurants. The Gold Pass is 699 euros, allows entry every day of the year, offers a 15 percent discount at shops and restaurants, and includes Extra Magic Time and an annual PhotoPass.

Disney Premier Access

Want to skip the line for the most popular attractions? Disney Premier Access works similarly to the old FastPass or newer Genie+ at the U.S. parks in that it allows you to skip the main standby line, but there are some nuances you’ll want to know before you purchase. Yes, purchase — this is an additional cost, just like Genie+ Lightning Lanes in the U.S. You can buy Disney Premier Access One for individual attractions to gain a time slot for the Premier Access queue on the day you visit via the Disneyland Paris app. Or you can splurge on the Disney Premier Access Ultimate, an all-day pass that allows you to skip the line once for every participating attraction. You can buy the Ultimate pass the day of or in advance.

I tested Disney Premier Access Ultimate during my recent trip, and I could ride everything I wanted during my two-day trip, even while fighting jet lag. Of course, if you’re a single rider, you can also take advantage of the dedicated single-rider queues, but even those had long waits for some of the top rides, like Crush’s Coaster.

Disneyland Park

Is this the most beautiful Disney theme park in the world? It just might be, with its dazzling pink castle inspired by Mont St. Michel and intricately themed lands that feature fantastic versions of classic Disney rides . Disneyland Park is France’s “castle park,” a term used in the theme park community to describe the Disney parks centered around the main princess castle with a hub-and-spoke layout featuring lands like Adventureland and Fantasyland (think Disneyland Park in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida ). Disneyland Paris has five main lands — Discoveryland (similar to Tomorrowland), Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Main Street, U.S.A. Don’t miss the nightly Disney Electrical Sky Parade featuring drones, projections, and fountains for a fun new take on the beloved parade.

You can find classic attractions like It’s a Small World, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Autopia at Disneyland Park. Still, I recommend prioritizing the one-of-a-kind rides you can’t find in the U.S. parks and the unique versions of attractions you’re already familiar with if you’re short on time. I loved Phantom Manor, a spookier version of the Haunted Mansions in Florida and California. I also enjoyed the European park’s take on Pirates of the Caribbean and Big Thunder Mountain. Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain is a thrilling, Star Wars -themed take on the classic indoor coaster. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is an intense outdoor roller coaster unique to this park (though Tokyo DisneySea has a similar ride).

Take the time to tour Sleeping Beauty Castle (the views from the terrace are beautiful, as is the stained-glass depiction of the fairy tale) and the Dragon’s Lair (home to an impressive audio-animatronic dragon).

Best Restaurants

Many table and quick-service restaurants are located around the park, from French meals with princesses at Auberge de Cendrillon to Tex Mex at Casa de Coco. I enjoyed my meal at Walt’s, an American restaurant themed to Walt Disney’s life, with dishes inspired by his favorite foods, like his famous chili. Get a table by the window to enjoy great people-watching on Main Street, U.S.A. Find Mickey-shaped pizza at Pizzeria Bella Notte, or try the French version of a Dole Whip at Cafe de la Brousse. If you plan to eat at a table-service restaurant that accepts reservations, make reservations as soon as possible to ensure you can dine when you want.

Walt Disney Studios Park

Walt Disney Studios Park will be transformed entirely into Disney Adventure World — construction kicked off in April. This new version of the park will see significant changes, including the addition of World of Frozen, but Walt Disney Studios Park is still open amid the transformation. That said, because so much is changing at this park, we’re just going to hit the highlights for visitors who plan to visit soon before the park is complete.

Walt Disney Studios Park is home to some of Disneyland Paris’s top attractions, including rides you won’t find anywhere else. At Avengers Campus, you can sling webs at Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure (which also exists at Disney California Adventure Park) or go on a high-speed mission on the unique Avengers Assemble: Flight Force featuring Iron Man and Captain Marvel. (Fun fact: this ride used to be Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, so expect a thrilling launch start and multiple inversions.) Finding Nemo -themed Crush’s Coaster is a super-popular spinning coaster mostly indoors; it’s worth purchasing Premier Access if you visit during a busy time. The original Ratatouille: The Adventure can be found in this park, along with Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and some smaller attractions perfect for kids in the Pixar area of the park. This park also features several shows, including The Disney Junior Dream Factory, Stitch Live!, Mickey and the Magician, and Frozen: A Musical Invitation.

Bistrot Chez Rémy is hands-down the best restaurant in Walt Disney Studios Park. Shrink down to the size of a rat at this “Ratatouille”-themed restaurant serving up dishes like steak and roast cod with sides of ratatouille, of course. There are also several food trucks throughout the park and some superhero-themed eateries at Avengers Campus.

Disney Village is Disneyland Paris’s version of Downtown Disney with several shopping and dining outlets, including American favorites like Five Guys and Earl of Sandwich and sit-down restaurants. Stop by the Disney Store to grab some souvenirs before heading out.

Disneyland Paris has seven themed hotels (listed here from most luxurious to most affordable): Disneyland Hotel, Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, Disney Newport Bay Club, Disney Sequoia Lodge, Disney Hotel Cheyenne, Disney Hotel Santa Fe, Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. All except Disney Davy Crockett Ranch offer free shuttles or are within walking distance of the parks. Many hotels have U.S.-inspired themes, like nautical New England at Disney Newport Bay Club and Old West at Disney Hotel Cheyenne. I stayed at the recently reimagined Disneyland Hotel ; it’s one of the best Disney hotels in the world, located right at the entrance of Disneyland Park.

Disneyland Hotel

The pink Disneyland Hotel feels like a castle in its own right, with a lobby that looks like a royal library and a host of amenities that guarantee a magical vacation. Walking through the lobby, I’d spot Disney princesses waving to guests — and little princes and princesses who just had makeovers at the Royal Collection Boutique waving back.

The hotel also has a free Royal Kids Club, a pool, a fitness center, a spa by Clarins, a bar, and two character dining restaurants, Royal Banquet and La Table de Lumière. I had the chance to visit both restaurants during my stay and loved my experience at both; if I had to choose a favorite, I’d pick La Table de Lumiere for the adorable character interactions. I’m always blown away by how the characters can communicate in many languages at the international Disney parks, and these interactions with the princes and princesses were so fun and memorable.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Disneyland Hotel. The recently renovated rooms had upscale decor inspired by iconic Disney fairy tales (mine had a Snow White theme) and thoughtful details that provided a five-star experience. Plus, it took me just a few minutes to walk from my room to the park entrance — an incredible perk you won’t find at many Disney hotels.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from the city is surprisingly easy. Take the RER A (an express train line) to the Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy/Parcs Disneyland stop just a few minutes from the park gates. You can also take the Disneyland Paris Express shuttle bus, but I highly recommend taking the RER. You can also take a TGV train to this stop from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport; I did this on my recent trip, and it took about 10 minutes to take the train from the airport stop to Disneyland Paris (though it was very crowded on the weekend).

Although the resort has lovely hotels that are well worth a stay for travelers who want to explore the parks for more than a day, many visitors come to Disneyland Paris for a day trip from the capital. I recommend planning to arrive at the theme parks before opening so you can rope drop any of your top-priority attractions. Get a two-park pass, and consider paying for Premier Access (for one or all attractions) to make the most of one day. I’d recommend starting at Walt Disney Studios Park to ride Crush’s Coaster, Tower of Terror, the Avenger’s Campus attractions, and Ratatouille: The Adventure. Schedule a sit-down meal at Bistrot Chez Remy or Walt’s for lunch, then spend the rest of the day in Disneyland Park and watch the Disney Electrical Sky Parade before you leave.

9 things to know about visiting Disneyland Paris if you've only been to US Disney parks

Leslie Harvey

In between touring the Louvre, strolling the banks of the Seine and ascending the Eiffel Tower, many visitors to the City of Light also pay a visit to Disneyland Paris. Situated to the east of the city, the resort is home to Europe's largest (and most visited) theme park.

With China still closed to tourism and Japan only starting to reopen, Disneyland Paris is the international Disney resort that is currently the most accessible to the traveling world. Combine this with the fact that Paris is set to host the Summer Olympics in 2024 and it's safe to say that many visitors will likely soon pass through the theme park's gates.

While Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, is my family's home park, we frequently visit Disney destinations around the world. So, when we had the chance to spend several weeks in France and the United Kingdom this summer, we knew we had to set aside a little time to see what France's version of Mickey Mouse had to deliver.

Not surprisingly, we found that Disneyland Paris does a lot of things in a slightly different way. However, one detail remains a constant across all the parks, Disneyland Paris included: Guests who pre-plan, know what to expect and understand the rules will surely have a magical vacation.

Disneyland Paris basics

Before delving into all you need to know about experiencing Disneyland Paris, it's important to have a lay of the land and understand the logistics of getting to the property.

Located about 25 miles east of Paris ' city center in Chessy, France, Disneyland Paris is easy to reach by train. The Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy train station sits a few steps away from the park's entrance and is accessible via Réseau Express Régional routes departing from downtown Paris and Trains à Grande Vitesse routes that leave Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and other destinations in France.

Once at the property, you'll notice that Disneyland Paris has a similar layout to Disneyland Resort. Two theme parks — Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park — comprise the resort, with each within walking distance of the other. There is also an adjacent shopping and entertainment district known as Disney Village, as well as multiple themed hotels with additional services and dining locations.

Like all the Disney parks, Disneyland Paris is a bucket list experience for Disney fans, regardless of when you visit. However, now is an especially magical time to check out the resort, as it's celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, with celebrations set to continue until Sept. 30, 2023.

Essential Disneyland Paris tips

disneyland paris travel from paris

If you are considering or planning a visit to Disneyland Paris, it's vital to know about the resort's unique rules and tricks. Even as a seasoned Disneyland and Walt Disney World visitor, I had to learn a lot of new things while at Disneyland Paris. Fortunately for us, the pieces ultimately fell into place once we identified the major differences. Here's what you need to know:

Related: How to use miles to fly to Paris

Logistics are easier

Recently, Disneyland and Disney World have received a lot of negative press for their complicated post-pandemic rules and procedures. While Disneyland Paris did implement a few changes after its reopening that have stuck, nearly everything is much easier to navigate for the casual visitor.

For example, Disneyland Paris does require park reservations for some guests, but if you are booking a Disneyland vacation package for a stay at an on-property hotel, then no park reservations are required.

Ticketing options are simpler, more flexible and overall less expensive as well. Guests who purchase park tickets as part of a vacation package will find ticketing to be as easy as showing up and entering. If you are not purchasing a ticket as part of a package, it's still a fairly straightforward process. Once you know how many days you'll be visiting, all that's left to decide is whether you want a dated or an undated ticket. (Dated tickets are cheaper but require picking your entry dates when you book, whereas undated tickets are pricier but let you choose your park dates after booking.) If you pick a dated ticket, you can then opt for a park hopper or one-park option. That's about it. Should your plans change, tickets are fully refundable up until three days prior to their valid date.

Thankfully, tickets are cheaper than in the U.S. with one-day, one-park tickets starting around $70-$80, depending on the date. In the U.S., they can be roughly double that price.

Disneyland Paris also doesn't have arbitrary time limits on its park hopping hours. If you've purchased a park hopper ticket, you are free to go back and forth between the two parks at any time of day.

In short, there are fewer opportunities at Disneyland Paris to make a mistake and find that you've run afoul of some obscure new rule. We found that assurance comforting, especially when dealing with the greater logistical challenges already inherent in an international trip.

Ride lines are mostly manageable

disneyland paris travel from paris

The most common complaints about theme parks around the world are the crowds and long lines. Disneyland Paris certainly has its fair share of both, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that standby queues for attractions were not as painfully long as guests might fear.

My family visited during a peak time of year (the U.K.'s summer recess from school), so we experienced ride lines at close to their worst. Lines were a little longer than I like to stand in but were by no means as terrible as lines you'll find at Disneyland or Disney World on a very busy day. If you can time your visit for a weekday when kids are not on break, you'll likely have an even more manageable time at Disneyland Paris.

Of course, there are tricks to finding shorter lines, including arriving early for rope drop or staying late after many guests retire for the evening. Disneyland Paris also has single-rider lines for a number of popular attractions that can save you time. We used all of these tricks to great effect.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Additionally, Disneyland Paris has a skip-the-line FastPass-style program of its own for select rides, with two paid options available: Disney Premier Access One and Disney Premier Access Ultimate.

With the more affordable Premier Access One program, you pay between 9 and 18 euros (roughly $9-$18) per ride for expedited access at a particular time via the attraction's fast lane. Meanwhile, the Premier Access Ultimate program automatically gives you access to each ride's fast lane whenever you want for a higher price (usually well above 100 euros, or $100, per person, per day).

Since fewer guests use these pay-to-play options at Disneyland Paris, they don't have as great of an impact on standby lines for non-paying guests. As a result, my family decided to skip the high cost of the upgraded Premier Access option and instead purchase three regular Premier Access One passes during our three-day visit. We found them to be far less complex than Disney's confusing paid Genie+ and Lightning Lane systems currently in operation at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Our most valuable purchase was for Crush's Coaster, which historically has the longest line at either park.

The second park is weak

disneyland paris travel from paris

Disneyland Paris includes two parks, but guests should know before deciding how to divide their time that the parks are far from equal. Disneyland Park is the property's main draw and where most guests spend the bulk of their time. There's also Walt Disney Studios Park, which only has a couple of major attractions mixed in with a lot you can skip, making it the much weaker of the two parks.

Recognizing this lack of star power at the latter, Disney has started making incremental changes to Walt Disney Studios Park. Earlier this summer, a brand new land called Marvel Avengers Campus debuted in the park.

Like its counterpart in Anaheim, the land has a new "Spider-Man"-themed attraction and a lot of new characters and dining locations. Avengers Campus delivers a solid product just like it does in Anaheim, but it's not enough to redeem the park as a whole. Walt Disney Studios Park still has a long way to go.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Thankfully, there is more coming, with a "Frozen" land set to debut in 2024. Still, until that area opens, Walt Disney Studios Park remains a half-day park at best. If you're a frequent Disneyland visitor like me and my family, odds are you'll want to allot even less time for the park, as Paris' Avengers Campus isn't that different from what you'll find in Anaheim.

It can be done as a day trip

With so many other can't-miss attractions in the City of Light, it's understandably hard to justify spending too many days at a theme park. So, a lot of travelers visit Disneyland Paris as a day trip from the city, as it's only about a 40-minute train ride away from the city center.

If your time will be limited when you visit, know that it's still possible to get a solid overview of the parks in a single day. You'll be able to ride quite a few of the headliner attractions in that time, especially if you budget for a couple of Premier Access One passes. Since Walt Disney Studios Park lacks the same wow factor as Disneyland Park, you can easily get by with a single-park ticket instead of the park hopper upgrade.

That said, Disney fans would be remiss if they didn't set aside a little more time for the parks.

Disneyland Paris is nearly as large as Disneyland Resort, so you'll need more than a day to truly see it all, especially if you want to ride every unique attraction available. We allotted a full day and two half days (an evening on our arrival and a morning before flying elsewhere in Europe) for our Disneyland Paris visit and found it was just about the right amount of time for a family of Disney fans.

The food is not on par with the US parks

disneyland paris travel from paris

Travelers come from around the world to experience France's magnificent food scene. Unfortunately, there is very little of that fine cuisine at Disneyland Paris.

I had heard from friends and fellow Disney experts for many years that the food in Disneyland Paris was terrible, so my family had low expectations when it was time for our visit. Much to my surprise, everything wasn't inedible slop: Every quick-service meal and buffet we had was entirely adequate. In fact, the food was pretty similar in quality to an average quick-service meal you'll get at Disneyland or Disney World. Prices weren't excessively high, either.

Where the food faltered most was in the sit-down establishments. For example, my husband and daughter ate at Captain Jack's, a fine dining restaurant overlooking the Pirates of the Caribbean ride that reminded them of Disneyland Resort's Blue Bayou. They found the meal was quite expensive, especially since both of their dishes were extremely overcooked. I've heard similar complaints from friends who've dined at Bistrot Chez Rémy in recent years as well.

We found some other food inadequacies at Disneyland Paris, too. The parks simply don't have a lot of snack options or variety, a strange state of affairs given how the U.S. parks churn out new, Instagrammable treats for every holiday or special event under the sun.

Disneyland Paris also doesn't keep all its in-park restaurants open full-time. A number of quick-service options close before the dinner hour, leaving pretty slim pickings for guests who haven't made reservations at pricier sit-down restaurants.

To avoid being disappointed during your visit, do as we did and make food as little of a focus of your trip as possible. Skip the expensive table-service restaurants and instead plan in advance to eat some utilitarian theme park basics like chicken fingers, pizza and burgers at quick-service establishments. As long as you check in advance so you know which options are open, particularly later in the day, you'll have no trouble filling empty stomachs.

Service isn't quite up to Disney standards

disneyland paris travel from paris

While I hate to be a stereotypical American complaining about French service, the reality is that there are subjective cultural differences that many visitors to Disneyland Paris will probably perceive when it comes to service. France just doesn't have the same tradition of effusive, overly friendly customer service that guests who frequent the American (or even the Asian) Disney parks are used to.

That's not to say that the customer service in Disneyland Paris is poor. We found most cast members quite courteous and even had a couple of magical moments with a select few. We were also impressed by the fact that every cast member we encountered spoke English, which we found helpful since none of us speak French.

Still, cast members were noticeably more blunt in tone and less visible everywhere in the parks. I got the distinct impression that there were fewer cast members per capita in the Paris parks than in other Disney parks I have visited. This was especially evident at the park entrances, where cast members were in short supply for morning rope drop. Clueless guests were trying to scan their tickets and passes at the turnstiles only to encounter errors and slow down the lines considerably at a pivotal time.

Ultimately, park operations felt a little more like a regional theme park in America than the gold standard of Disney efficiency and warmth.

The parks' beauty is its own attraction

What Disneyland Paris lacks in customer service it more than makes up for in beauty.

Disneyland Park is easily the most beautiful theme park I've visited. It feels like a microcosm of the well-designed city of Paris itself, with wide pathways surrounded by colorful, meticulously maintained landscaping. Many of the ride buildings have bold theming that commands your attention, such as the Jules Verne-inspired Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain.

disneyland paris travel from paris

This unique atmosphere means that guests should approach a visit to the resort a little differently. Disneyland Paris is a park that is meant to be savored. If you run from ride to ride all day, you'll miss a major part of what makes the property so special.

We slowed down during parts of our trip and made time to explore some of the non-ride attractions and specially themed play areas (which are far more ubiquitous than in the U.S. parks). We found these areas sparked the curiosity of our kids, who enjoyed wandering the meandering pathways and playing in spaces like Alice's Curious Labyrinth and Skull Rock.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Another visual delight was the arcades — enclosed pathways that run behind the shops of Main Street U.S.A. These pathways serve the practical purpose of moving big crowds but in a visually stunning setting. Of course, the awe-inspiring Disneyland Paris castle is another gorgeous feature that no guest should miss.

Many attractions are familiar — but uniquely different

A quick glance at the map of Disneyland Paris may give the impression that the park is largely a clone of the Magic Kingdom in Florida or Disneyland Park in California . Sure, quite a few attractions, such as Peter Pan's Flight and Mad Hatter's Tea Cups, are similar to what you'll find in the U.S., but a number of rides at Disneyland Paris actually have unique twists all their own despite looking like carbon copies of their American counterparts.

For example, two thrill rides, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, are far more intense than those in the U.S. As such, roller coaster lovers should make a beeline for them. Parents, on the other hand, will probably need to pause and consider whether more cautious kids in the family are ready for the more intense experience.

Additionally, spooky rides like Phantom Manor (similar to the Haunted Mansion) and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror have very different storylines than the ones in the U.S. Both have an edgier and more morbid vibe thanks to the French influence.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Even some children's rides have new angles. Casey Jr., for example, is actually a mild kiddie coaster rather than the slow-moving train that sits in Anaheim. Storybook Land Canal Boats brings guests through different fairy-tale scenes than the ones that appear at Disneyland Resort, too.

Given how many rides vary here despite their similar theming, you should err on the side of riding as much as possible while at Disneyland Paris. Though you may think you've experienced a ride before in Florida or California, chances are it will offer a very new experience.

On-property hotels fall short

For guests who plan to visit for more than a day trip, there are seven on-property hotels to choose from.

As you may expect, Disneyland Paris is no exception to the price premium you'll pay to stay on property when visiting Disney. Still, there are a couple of key benefits, including the proximity to the parks and the early entry benefit (known here as Extra Magic Hours), that swayed our family to stay at the on-site Disney Sequoia Lodge.

A moderately-priced hotel with national park lodge theming, the Disney Sequoia Lodge's rooms and common areas felt extremely tired and dated. In fact, the hotel was nowhere near as nice as the newly renovated value resorts at Walt Disney World such as Disney's Pop Century Resort , despite being more expensive. As a result, it didn't seem to offer as much value as what we're used to getting when staying at American Disney properties.

disneyland paris travel from paris

Other properties like the flagship Disneyland Hotel, which sits right above the Disneyland Paris park gates, may provide more value but are currently unavailable due to an extensive renovation expected to wrap up in 2024.

In the meantime, the most luxurious option is the newly renovated Disney Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel. While it is visually stunning, my family couldn't justify paying peak summer prices of more than $800 a night to stay in a small hotel room that had two double beds and was a 15-minute walk from the gates.

Given the shortcomings of these hotels, you may find it hard to stomach spending hundreds of dollars on a room that's officially on property. So, if you're on a tighter budget, you may be better served by staying off-property, especially if you wouldn't use the early entry benefit.

Bottom line

While there were a couple of ways in which the French parks underdelivered, Disneyland Paris is mostly a positive and enjoyable experience.

Disneyland Paris has a number of surprising and delightful differences that Disney fans will enjoy, from its beautiful grounds to unique attraction variations. Visiting Disneyland Paris also requires less preparation and touring the parks there feels less stressful.

In a way, we found our trip replicated the experience of visiting the U.S. parks a decade or more ago when the costs and the stakes of taking a theme park vacation weren't quite so high. Because of this, Disneyland Paris is well worth a Paris detour.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT DISNEYLAND PARIS?

The weather’s different, the holidays are different, and the busiest peak-season periods are very different from the USA. You won’t want to arrive in France and second-guess if you’ve timed it right. How many days do you need to see everything?

When you think about planning your visit, keep these guidelines in mind:

You’ll probably want three days to see the parks. | If you’re a major Disney fan — like many Wishful Thinking clients — you’ll probably want at least three days to properly explore Disneyland Paris two parks. Two at a minimum.

Theme park entry is INCLUDED with any Disney resort hotel stay. | See our explanation below, but Paris is simply set up differently than the USA’s parks. You’ll have admission into both theme parks (including free Park Hopping) from the opening minute of your check-in day all the way to the closing minute of your check-out day. Park entrance is simply a perk of your resort stay. Learn more ▸

Disneyland Paris’s shows, restaurants, parades, and shops are completely unique. You’ll want to see as many as you can. Other one-of-a-kind attractions — like Phantom Manor, Crush’s Coaster, and Rhythm of the Pride Lands — are so cool that you’ll want to experience them more than once to notice new details!

If you only have a day or two, we’ll help you prioritize what to see. If this might be your one and only visit, give yourself sufficient time to explore everything.

Plan for major jet lag. | If you’re arriving from North or South America, It isn’t wise to visit Disney immediately upon arrival. Why? Because you’ll be dealing with significant jet lag symptoms. For the first two days or so, you’ll probably be foggy-brained, having trouble falling asleep at night. Mornings are extra rough.

Plan for Paris sightseeing first. | At the start of your trip, give yourself a few full days in Paris. Fill your itinerary with flexible sightseeing plans. Book a comfy, centrally-located hotel  — we’ve got a terrific shortlist — where you can sleep in or take mid-day breaks without fearing that you’re wasting the precious time you’re supposed to be in the parks. Save your Disney days until after your body has had time to adjust. | Yes, we can book your Paris hotel, too ▸

The Disneyland Paris parks are designed for four seasons. | They’ve got quite a lot more indoor attractions, indoor queue space, and indoor dining than the North American parks. The parks are still enjoyable when it’s cold or rainy. Paris’s climate is similar to Seattle, Washington — rainy days are very common, even into the summer months. Snow is rare. It typically melts quickly. Sub-freezing temperatures? Rarely more than a day or two, even in the depths of winter.  The most comfortable months of the year are May through early October. But if you’re wondering when to visit, take it from Audrey Hepburn’s character in Sabrina: “Paris is always a good idea.”

Weekends are more crowded during warm weather months. | On Saturdays and Sundays — from Spring through early Autumn — you’ll see quite a few local French families and annual pass holders who come for the day. If you can visit during the week, it’s a good idea. Mondays through Thursdays are best.

The holidays are delightful — but potentially crowded. | October is one of the best times to visit Disneyland Paris. Their Halloween decorations are divine, and their new Halloween Party is an absolute smash. The days just before and after Easter are extra crowded, and hotels are pricy.  The Christmas period at Disneyland Paris is beautifully decorated and delightfully charming. Holiday festivities typically begin in late November. But if you visit from about December 22nd through New Year’s Day, expect significant crowds. That said, it’s nowhere near as crowded as Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

In a typical year, avoid August. |  Normally, we say that it’s wise to avoid the entire month of August — when nearly all of Western Europe collectively goes on vacation. Many of Paris’s best independently-owned restaurants, cafes, and bakeries close their doors so their entire staff can take a vacation. A visit during August means you’ll miss out on many of Paris’s local charms. The parks are the most crowded that they’ll ever be, and the Disneyland Paris hotels are the most expensive during this time. August of 2024 will also coincide with the Olympic and Paralympic Games, so Paris’s typical patterns will be askew. Many local mom & pop shops will give their staff extra time off to enjoy the Games (or take vacation), while very touristy destinations will want to capitalize on the world’s visitors.

WHAT ARE THE BEST HOTELS AT DISNEYLAND PARIS RESORT?

Let’s explore the Disneyland Paris resort hotels — nearly all of which are within walking distance from the theme park entrances. The newly-renovated Disneyland Hotel has just reopened, offering a royal setting with true 5-star luxury accommodations. Other Deluxe hotels like Disney’s Newport Bay Club or Disney’s Hotel New York – the Art of MARVEL also   offer top-notch accommodations. Which hotels are the most unique?

THE LAY OF THE LAND

Before you think about where to stay, let’s cover some navigational basics.

Disneyland Paris is much more compact than Walt Disney World, but much more spread out & expansive than Disneyland. The resort is not technically located in Paris; rather, it’s the suburban towns of  Chessy / Marne-la-Valée , about an hour from Paris by train. The whole resort area is officially called Disneyland Paris Resort — not EuroDisney — it contains 7 resort hotels, the Disney Village dining district, and two theme parks. Disneyland Park  is often called  Parc Disneyland, its French equivalent.  Walt Disney Studios Park is the name of the second theme park, which recently welcomed Avengers Campus and will soon see the arrival of Arendelle — the World of Frozen.

Here are the hotels we recommend for our clients:

DISNEYLAND HOTEL  | Get pricing ▸

  • Luxury hotel (5 stars) | Built directly above the park entrance of Disneyland. 4-minute walk to Walt Disney Studios Park.
  • Now reopen, it’s become the crown jewel of Disneyland resort hotels worldwide.
  • NEW theming features Disney royalty around every corner: each guest room is themed to a different Disney princess story, with rooms themed to Elsa, Moana, Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, and more.
  • NEW on-site kids club, offering up to 2 hours of supervised childcare for guests 3 – 12, in a magical library setting with secret passageways and Royal surprises!
  • NEW Crystal Pool, an indoor pool with gleaming marble that’s open year round
  • NEW on-site character dining; the Royal Banquet with Mickey, Minnie & pals in medieval garb, and La Table de Lumière, with princes and princesses and décor reminiscent of the Palace at Versailles famous hall of mirrors.
  • NEW Castle Club Suites, the creme-de-la-creme of Disney accommodations, featuring eye-catching views directly overlooking Disneyland park.

DISNEY’S HOTEL NEW YORK – THE ART OF MARVEL |  Get pricing ▸

  • Deluxe hotel (4 stars) | 5-minute walk to the Disney Village entrance
  • A swanky, stylish, genuinely cool, modern hotel full of art inspired by MARVEL characters — created by working MARVEL artists. The restaurants & lounge are extra good — currently the best on property. Guests here enjoy exclusive character appearances and photo opportunities with MARVEL characters. MARVEL-themed photo studios & kid-friendly art workshops. It’s a terrific property.

DISNEY’S NEWPORT BAY CLUB |   Get pricing ▸

  • Atlantic yacht club with a seafaring theme, with a relaxing waterfront boardwalk and a tawny club lounge. Very reminiscent of Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World. The indoor-outdoor pool is extra transporting.

DISNEY’S SEQUOIA LODGE |  Get pricing ▸

  • Moderate hotel (3 stars) | 7-minute walk to the Disney Village entrance
  • Themed around the California state park lodges around Giant Sequoia National Park, with an embrace of mid-century furniture and animal trophy kitsch. Not nearly as luxurious as Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, but the vibe is similar. Think comfortable, casual atmosphere, with perhaps a touch of Wes Anderson flair.

DISNEY’S HOTEL CHEYENNE |  Get pricing ▸

  • Value hotel (2 stars) | 10-minute walk to the Disney Village entrance
  • Themed around the old Western towns. It looks less like Frontierland than you might expect; the design details can be inconsistent. There’s no pool, but the recently renovated rooms have fun-filled details from Toy Story’s Woody’s Round-Up.

DISNEY’S HOTEL SANTA FE |  Get pricing ▸

  • Themed around Pixar’s “Cars” franchise, with a Southwestern Americana theme — think cowboys & desert cactuses. It’s cute, but undeniably downmarket. Be advised: there’s no pool, no elevators, and no air-conditioning.

We do not recommend Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch, because it offers no transportation between its cabins and the theme parks.

WHAT ABOUT STAYING AT A HOTEL / VACATION HOME IN PARIS?

Contemplating heading out to the parks from a hotel or vacation home in Paris? We don’t recommend it. Here’s why:

  • It can take over an hour to get to Disneyland’s parks from the center of Paris on board the RER A train. The morning pre-work rush hour on the RER train isn’t exactly comfy. A ride in a car — with traffic — is usually longer. You’ll probably arrive well after the parks have already opened to the Disney resort hotel guests, so lines may be long by the time you make it in.
  • The trains don’t run overnight. At the end of the day, it can be very difficult to make it onto the final train from Marne-la-Valée back to Paris, especially if it’s summertime when fireworks don’t happen until 11 PM. If you do luck out with that final train, you should expect standing room only for your commute. Not fun after a day on your feet.
  • You’ll need to purchase your Disneyland Paris theme park tickets a la carte, directly from Disneyland Paris. Those tickets are non-refundable.
  • Most significantly, Wishful Thinking cannot assist you. Disney only authorizes us to help those who book a Walt Disney Travel Package with a Disneyland Paris resort hotel or select Disneyland Paris partner hotels: Hôtel l’Elysée Val d’Europe, B&B Hotel, Adagio Marne-la-Vallée Val d’Europe, Explorers Fabulous Hotels Group, or Campanile Val de France.

DISNEYLAND PARIS BREAKFAST & MEAL PLANS

Because there are very few breakfast options at Disneyland Paris, most guests add breakfasts to their hotel reservations — you’ll get to enjoy a buffet breakfast each morning. But many guests here opt to add additional pre-paid meals, which Disney calls Half Board and Full Board. Here’s how it works:

  • HALF BOARD  | Breakfast + 1 additional meal per day
  • FULL BOARD  | Breakfast + 2 additional meals per day

Worth it? Yes, if you expect to eat at Table Service restaurants. Because most of Disneyland Paris’s table service restaurants only offer a pre-fixe, set price menu, the meal plan typically saves you money. More than anything, it’s lovely to simply have more of your vacation paid for before you even show up. Pricing varies, depending on your resort hotel stay.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK?

This is where some personalized help from Wishful Thinking really comes in handy. Disneyland Paris is already booking into 2025, and with the excitement of the Summer Olympic & Paralympic Games in Paris, it’s smart to plan well ahead. We can send current pricing, hotel recommendations and more, customized just for you.  As always, our help is free.

HOW DO THEME PARK TICKETS WORK AT DISNEYLAND PARIS RESORT?

With any Disneyland Paris resort package, you’ll enjoy multi-day theme park tickets as a perk of your stay — but the access & pricing are very different from the American parks. Especially if you’re staying off-property. We’ll explain. Is  Premier Access Ultimate  worthwhile to skip the standby queue wait times? What about add-ons like PhotoPass or a VIP Tour?

THEME PARK ACCESS & THEME PARK TICKETS FOR RESORT HOTEL GUESTS

At Disneyland Paris, Theme Park entry is included with Disney resort hotel packages, as a perk of your accommodations. You’re welcome to enter the parks from the opening minutes of your arrival day through to the closing minutes of your departure day. Also, unlimited park hopping is included all day, every day.

Some Americans’ jaws drop when they learn this — this is very different from Walt Disney World and Disneyland. To put it simply, Disneyland Paris has a different business model than the American parks.

WHY CAN’T I REDUCE THE NUMBER OF THEME PARK DAYS WITH OUR RESORT HOTEL STAY?

After contemplating this perk, some guests ask, “What if we won’t arrive at Disneyland Paris resort until late on our first day? Or need to leave early on our check out day? Wouldn’t we be wasting theme park tickets? What’s what’s the price if we do it a la carte? Can we do a five night hotel stay and a three day ticket?”

All perfectly reasonable questions!

The answer, quite simply, is that Disney makes it much more expensive if you try to do it this way. The included theme park entry perk is an incentive to draw guests to stay at the Disneyland Paris hotels, and Disney prices those incentives accordingly! Realistically, even with this perk, a 5-night Disneyland Paris resort hotel stay is typically more affordable than, say, a 5 night hotel stay + 3 days of theme park tickets at a Disneyland or Walt Disney World resort hotel. Enjoy the perk, we say, and enjoy the feeling that heading into the parks is free!

PREMIER ACCESS

Rather than Genie+ (or FastPass), Disneyland Paris’s skip-the-lines privilege is called Premier Access, and it’s offered at the 15 most popular attractions between the two parks. There are two ways to do it:

PREMIER ACCESS (standard)

  • Pay within your app (8 to 15 Euros per guest per attraction)
  • You must select from a limited number of return time windows
  • You may not prepay for the service before your visit
  • Pricing is dynamic. Expect around 15 Euro (per guest) for Crush’s Coaster or Spider Man WEB-SLINGERS, and around 8 Euro for something like Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast.

PREMIER ACCESS ULTIMATE

  • Enjoy access to ALL 15 of the attractions that accept the privilege — no advance booking windows are required.
  • Use the privilege once per attraction; you simply walk up and enter. (And if you want to re-ride, you’re always free to wait in the Standby queue.)
  • The price of Premier Access Ultimate varies by the day (typically between $140 – $190 USD per guest per day).
  • NOTE: It’s always best for us to add this to your package if you anticipate that you’ll want a day (or multiple days) with Premier Access Ultimate. You can remove it (up until your balance payment date) if you change your mind.
  • A LIMITED NUMBER OF GUESTS MAY PURCHASE THIS PER DAY. You may add this on the day of your visit — IF there are still Premier Access Ultimate bookings available.
  • We can add Premier Access Ultimate to any package for one day or multiple days. To book, we must select the specific day or days you’d like the service.

Similar to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, you can pre-pay to pose with Disney’s professional photographers throughout both parks. They’re primarily found near character meet & greets. One price covers all the days and all the guests within your vacation package. It’s about $85 USD, and we’ll add it to your vacation package when you book.

For those who want the crème de la crème of the Disneyland Paris experience, we can add an exclusive VIP Tour to your vacation package.

  • Enjoy 6 hours with an expert VIP Guide, inviting you to skip all lines and waits, guaranteeing you premium viewing areas for all parades, shows & spectaculars.
  • Learn exclusive behind-the-scenes secrets of the Disney Imagineers’ most charmingly designed park, plus Avengers Campus and more.
  • Choose a morning or afternoon start time: 10 AM or 2 PM. Each tour is scheduled for 6 hours, but you can add additional time if you like.
  • May be booked up to 2 weeks before arrival (but availability is limited).
  • To book a Disneyland Paris VIP Tour, contact us for pricing.

PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC GAMES & DISNEY PLANNING TIPS

Should I visit Disneyland Paris during the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games? How busy will it be? Is it better to visit during, before, or after the games?

WHAT WE KNOW / WHAT WE DON’T KNOW | Disneyland Paris has just opened its entire calendar for bookings through March of 2025, and many international guests are booking hotels at Disneyland Paris during their visits. Rates are in-keeping with previous summer periods, and we’re already booking many clients who have tickets to various Olympic sporting events. We still don’t know how transportation to this part of Paris might be impacted, but it’s reasonable to assume that the RER A train will be running often. We also don’t know if Disney will be doing anything unique during the games as part of their own on-site celebration.

HISTORICALLY, TOURIST SITES ARE NOT BUSY DURING THE SUMMER GAMES | Talk to anyone who visited Rio de Janeiro in 2016, London in 2012, Beijing in 2008 or Athens in 2004. Although the Olympic venues were busy, the tourist areas were not. Why? Because nearly all the city’s hotels & lodging are occupied by visiting athletes, delegations, corporate sponsors, and their families, who are laser-focused on the Olympics. Regular ol’ tourists tend to stay away. Sometimes they assume the city will be jam-packed (although it isn’t), or they’re unable to find affordable lodging (because, see above).

Therefore, although Disneyland Paris is the #1 most-visited tourist destination in France — with twice as many visitors as the Louvre — it’s reasonable to assume that no, the parks won’t be super crowded.

SHOULD I VISIT DISNEYLAND PARIS BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER THE GAMES?

If we’re looking at historical patterns, then we need to note something else: Rio de Janeiro, London, Beijing and Athens were all very busy just BEFORE the games. Many tourists jam-packed the tourist areas in the hopes of seeing everything before the masses showed up.

If you’ll be visiting for the Olympics and you’d like to add some Disney days before or after, go ahead and get in touch now via the link below. We should book your resort hotel ASAP.

TRAINS & TRANSPORTATION

How do I get to Disneyland Paris by train from the center of Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), or London ?  I’m staying in Paris, how easy are the trains to go and visit for one day?

PLAN YOUR ARRIVAL BY TRAIN  | Most guests arrive at Disneyland Paris by train (see arriving by car, below, for other options). To plan travel to the train station at the resort, it’s wise to use the Google Maps app. (The native app, not the website version). You’ll travel to Marne-la-Valée / Chessy. This station is located literally steps away from the security entrance for Disneyland Paris Resort.   Please note that there are many train lines which travel here from across France, Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, and beyond.

TRAVELING TO / FROM THE CENTER OF PARIS  | The train which takes you between Paris and the resort is the  RER train, line A.  (Please note that this is different from the Paris metro, and requires a separate ticket than the standard subway lines in Paris). From the center of Paris — such as Châtelet–Les Halles — the trains arrive about every 10 – 15 minutes, and the travel time is just under an hour.

TRAVELING TO / FROM CDG AIRPORT |  The train which travels between the resort and Charles de Gaulle Airport is the  TGV line . It’s incredibly easy. Trains depart about once an hour. The travel time is less than 15 minutes .

DISNEY EXPRESS LUGGAGE SERVICE | Disney Resort hotel guests who add this enhancement to their package may leave their luggage and bags at the Disney Express welcome desk inside the train station and head right into the parks. Disney Cast Members will porter them to your Disney resort hotel for you. (And on your check-out day, they’ll return them to the station.) This pre-paid enhancement must be reserved several days in advance; it’s available exclusively for Disney resort hotel guests, regardless of how you arrive at the Marne-la-Valée / Chessy station. Get pricing ▸

BUYING YOUR TRAIN TICKETS | If you’re traveling from Paris or CDG, you do not need to purchase train tickets before your travel day.  Rely on the automated ticket kiosks within the train stations, which accept major credit cards. Take note that not every kiosk sells all ticket types, so be sure that your kiosk has the RER logo (or sells TGV tickets, if traveling from CDG).

VERY EARLY / VERY LATE | If you expect to arrive or depart very early in the day — before 7 AM or after 10 PM — the trains may not be operating on a timely schedule to get you to your destination. It may be advisable to book a private transfer instead.

TRAVELING FROM / TO LONDON | If you’ll be traveling between Disneyland Paris and  London , it’s advisable to purchase your Eurostar train ticket at least 4 weeks in advance. Tickets get much more expensive as the date nears. Pre-pandemic, many direct trains  traveled directly between London and Disneyland Paris. As of 2022, however, direct trains are only offered on peak travel dates. On other days, you’ll often need to transfer at Paris’s Gare du Nord station. Catch an RER train to travel between Gare du Nord and the resort.

ARRIVING BY CAR / TAXI / PRIVATE TRANSFER | If you’ll be driving your own car, you may either enter via your resort hotel or be dropped off at the train station. The resort hotels all offer guest parking. If you plan to catch a taxi, you’re most likely to find a taxi at the airports (CDG or Orly) or in the center of Paris. If you’d like to take a rideshare, it won’t be difficult to get an Uber pickup in the center of Paris, but finding an available Uber driver is very, very rare in the suburban area of Disneyland Paris. For a pickup at the Disneyland Paris area on your departure day, it’s best to schedule a private ground transfer from a service like Disneyland Paris Transfer .

WHAT SHOULD I SEE & DO IN PARIS?

How many days do I need for sightseeing? How far in advance do I need to get tickets for the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, or the Palace of Versailles? Can I see these sights during my stay at Disneyland Paris?

It typically takes more than an hour to travel from Disneyland Paris resort to the heart of the city. For that reason, we suggest booking a separate hotel in Paris when you’d like to see the city. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a group of friends, a couple on a romantic getaway or a family looking to save some Euros, we’re thrilled to help our Disneyland Paris clients also book their perfect Paris hotel. We’ve got an excellent shortlist of hotels that we’ve personally visited and our clients adore.

Only have one extra day? Disneyland Paris provides a selection of guided tours that pick you up right at your Disneyland Paris resort hotel, take you to a few must-see sights, and return you in time for dinner. Keep in mind, they’re not offered every day of the week or every week of the year. So, get in touch if you’re curious about including one during your Disneyland Paris stay.

SIGHTSEEING RECOMMENDATIONS IN PARIS

For those who can include at least 2 or more days of sightseeing in the City of Light, here are our top recommendations. Note : each link sends you to its official ticketing / information site.

EIFFEL TOWER | The iconic symbol of Paris stands tall. Take the elevator ride and feel the breeze on your face while you admire panoramic views. Fun fact: there are 1,665 steps to the top, but don’t worry, elevators are available! Get your tickets at least a month in advance — even earlier if you’re hoping for a sunset visit.

MUSÉE DU LOUVRE | Home to Mona Lisa’s mysterious smile and more masterpieces than you could possibly see in a day. Art and history galore, it’s a place to taste Parisian history and immerse yourself in culture. Tip: fewer crowds on Wednesdays and Fridays, but it’s smart to buy your tickets at least a few days in advance. Longer for weekends or peak travel season.

CATHÉDRALE DE NOTRE DAME | A Gothic masterpiece boasting intricate gargoyles and stunning stained glass. Once you see it with your own eyes, you’ll understand why Quasimodo found sanctuary here. It’s stunning. Through 2024, its devastating fire- damage restoration is in progress, but the undeniable heart of Paris beats strong.

SACRÉ-COEUR | The white-domed beauty atop Montmartre hill offers 360° views that make you feel on top of the world. On warm afternoons, the hillside lawn welcomes street musicians and a global sing-a-long full of bonhomie. Its views of the city are unrivaled. Bonus: hop on the nearby miniature carousel for a joyful spin.

MONTMARTRE | This bohemian, artsy neighborhood invites you to stroll cobblestone streets, spot countless artists, and visit buzzing cafes. Taste a fresh croissant and listen to street musicians, and keep an eye out for chef Gusteau’s ghost! History nugget: Picasso, Van Gogh, and Amelie Poulain once roamed here!

LE MARAIS | The central neighborhood where medieval charm meets modern chic. Countless quaint boutiques, trendy galleries, and delightful eateries. Get delicious falafel, select a colorful batch of macarons, or simply sit at a corner bistro. People-watching here is an art. Paris’s LGBTQ+ community rules the nightlife in the Marais; by day, you’ll see lots of families with kids enjoying its beautiful playgrounds and parks. Don’t miss the charming Place des Vosgues.

RIVER SEINE | Paris’ lifeblood meanders through the city, offering romantic strolls along its banks. A must-see if you’re up for a little l’amour. Family tip: take an enchanting boat cruise and enjoy the twinkling city lights. You can typically book one just a few days in advance.

CHÂTEAU DE VERSAILLES | Showcasing royal opulence and grand gardens, a gilded palace that Cogsworth would be proud to call home. Marvel at the Hall of Mirrors and imagine Marie Antoinette’s reflection. The gardens and fountains are an extravagant delight on summer Sundays. Plan on at least half a day here, with ample travel time out & back. Get tickets at least a week in advance. Fun fact: Versailles housed 20,000 people in its heyday!

CATACOMBS OF PARIS | Venture beneath the city streets to explore an eerie labyrinth of bones, a chilling adventure for the brave at heart!  More than six million skeletons are still buried beneath the city, dating back to the 1700s. Age recommendation: 10+ and above. Buy your tickets at least a week in advance; longer during peak travel season.

MUSÉE D’ORSAY | A former train station turned world-class art museum, housing innumerous gems from Impressionist painters like Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Caillebotte.  Smart to buy tickets a day beforehand, & check to see what’s on during your visit. Some exhibitions are extra kid-friendly.

CHAMPS ÉLYSÉES & ARC DE TRIOMPHE | The iconic avenue may suffer from an overkill of store-brand flagships, but the boulevard itself is stunning. Get tickets to visit the top of the Arc. It’s extra cool when a setting sun casts an arc-shaped shadow on the boulevard.

This is just the beginning. We’ve got far, far more tips to share.

Wondering where to find the cutest Instagram-worthy macarons, the coolest unique French fashions, the tastiest Bretonne crepes & galettes , or some swoon-worthy gourmet dining that won’t break the bank?

Wondering which hotels are perfectly located so you’ll be in the heart of all the sights, but not stuck in a tacky tourist trap?

We’ve been to Paris countless times, and we’d love to tell you. We know the city like the back of our four-fingered white gloved hand.

If you plan your trip with Wishful Thinking, we can provide a shortlist of our favorite restaurants, the coolest shops, most unique nightlife, and the best locations for family-friendly sights in the city. The nearest hotels to Disneyland Paris for a fun family trip to the theme park

Our favourite places to stay for theme-park fun and short breaks at Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park

nearest hotel to disneyland paris

Well worth a mini-break so you can make the most of both of its theme parks – Disneyland Park and the movie-themed Walt Disney Studios Park – Disneyland Paris is surrounded by an array of hotels. Some of them are Disney’s own options, which means they feature exciting appearances by costumed characters and other themed jollity. Others are unaffiliated with it but provide plenty of Disney-inspired fun or interesting alternatives for a more grown-up stay – especially good for Disney lovers coming without children.

Several of the nearest hotels to Disneyland Paris are within walking distance of the park, with one of the very closest, Disney Hotel New York , being just 10 minutes’ walk away. If they're a little further away, most hotels also offer free shuttles to the park for an easy journey into the centre of the action. Many hotels near Disneyland Paris also have entertainment where you'll be staying – think pools and activities keeping the fun running even when you’re away from the rides and attractions. They're also often close to other local sights and attractions, such as the SEA LIFE Paris Val d’Europe Aquarium, so there's more than enough to keep everyone entertained.

With Eurostar running direct trains to Marne-la-Vallée station just minutes from Disneyland Paris during popular times including school holidays and bank holidays, it takes only two hours and 49 minutes to make the journey from London St Pancras International. And remember that staying at a hotel near Disneyland Paris is also great for day trips into Paris itself.

Whether you're travelling with your children or grandchildren, there's a hotel near Disneyland Paris for you. You'll find Marvel, Cars and Toy Story -themed Disney hotels, non-Disney options with heated swimming pools and huge gardens, plus eco-friendly options with forest-themed activities.

When it comes to sleeping arrangements, there are plenty of family rooms available in the hotels near Disneyland Paris and things are geared up for larger groups. There are rooms with bunk beds, quadruple rooms with two double beds and interconnecting rooms for larger families travelling as a group.

Check out our favourite places to stay near the theme park, including hotels within walking distance of Disneyland Paris and the ones offering free and paid-for shuttle services.

Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel

nearest hotel to disneyland paris

One of the best Disney hotels at the French theme park, a 10-minute walk through Disney Village or just a couple of minutes’ free shuttle-bus ride away, this Manhattan-styled option features the world’s largest collection of Marvel artwork (more than 350 pieces) plus a Marvel Design Studio where kids can create their own masterpieces to their heart's content.

The real draws of Disney Hotel New York , however, are the heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, kid's pool and hot tub, and outdoor Hero Training Zone. Parents, meanwhile, can also take some well-deserved time out in the sauna and steam room. Two restaurants and bars between them offer Italian dining, crafts beers, organic wines and more.

Walking distance to Disneyland Paris: 10 minutes

Disney Hotel Santa Fe

While not the most modern of Disney properties, this fun, neon-lit and colourful homage to Route 66 and the American Southwest (and to the Pixar movie Cars ) remains a popular option, especially for those on a slightly more restricted budget.

A 20-minute walk from the theme parks but also offering a free shuttle, Disney’s Hotel Sante Fe features car-themed rooms (some by the riverside), a Tex Mex/global cantina and an indoor play area. There's also the brilliant Chuck Wagon Café, which dishes up delicious home-smoked chicken and a host of specials.

Daily Guest Restrictions Enforced at Disney Parks Until 2025

in Disney Parks , Disneyland Paris

A Million Splashes of Colour at Disneyland Paris

If you are planning on visiting Disneyland Paris, get ready to see the parade in an all new way, with areas of the show restricted from guest view.

A horse-drawn trolley travels down a bustling street in a theme park with a castle in the background. The street is lined with colorful buildings, and people are walking and enjoying the scenery. Two people are riding on the trolley, which has festive decorations.

Nestled in Marne-la-Vallée, a mere 40 minutes from the bustling heart of Paris, lies Disneyland Paris, a captivating theme park and entertainment resort. Since its grand opening in 1992, it has reigned supreme as Europe’s most popular tourist destination, enchanting millions of visitors with its immersive blend of Disney magic and European flair.

Disneyland Paris offers a unique dual park experience. Disneyland Park, a loving tribute to its Californian counterpart, transports guests to a world of timeless fairytales and beloved Disney classics. Here, iconic lands like Fantasyland and Adventureland come alive with vibrant attractions. Guests can soar through the skies with Peter Pan, embark on a swashbuckling adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow, or journey through the whimsical world of “it’s a small world.”

Walt Disney Studios Park offers a different kind of magic. Dedicated to the captivating worlds of film, animation, and show business, this park delves behind the curtain, revealing the secrets of Disney storytelling.

Thrill-seekers can brave the heart-stopping loops of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, while animation enthusiasts can explore the whimsical world of Cars or dive into the fantastical Toy Story Playland. While the park is typically a fun change from Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park is a little less than ideal at the moment as it is undergoing a massive change.

Crowds outside the theater at Walt Disney Studios Park

The park is going to be rebranded as Disney Adventure World, to become a park all about the stories that Disney has told. No longer will the park be about the filming and production side of Disney, but rather, the outcome of the plot. Studio 1, which is the massive sound stage entrance is currently closed, and will remain so until next year, which cuts out multiple dining and shopping locations, as well as an excellent themed environment.

There is also a ton of construction for the expansion of World of Frozen, the new land that will extend the park. We will also see a new Tangled -themed spinner ride added to the land. The Star Wars expansion which was meant to be connected to this land, as well as the Toy Story Playland expansion, were both cut.

Disneyland Paris extends beyond exhilarating attractions. From captivating parades featuring beloved Disney characters to dazzling nighttime spectaculars that illuminate the Parisian sky, the resort offers a continuous tapestry of enchanting experiences. Guests can indulge in exquisite culinary delights at a variety of restaurants or commemorate their visit with a unique souvenir from the resort’s extensive selection of Disney-themed merchandise.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in the end of Main Street, U.S.A, at Disneyland Paris

Parades are some of the most coveted forms of entertainment at Disneyland Paris.

Right now, and through to the end of September, A Million Splashes of Colour. Performed along the front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and the rest of the Disneyland Paris parade route in the park, the show brings to life Disney’s animation creations from the page to the stage.

The parade has had some difficulties during its run, with emergency evacuations, and show stop removals, but each of those issues were remedied and the show was always able to return to normal.

Now, following the most recent change, a normal Disneyland Paris parade may not return until 2025. Right now, the castle stage is undergoing a big refurbishment, which means that the parade route has had to be altered. The parade route will return to its original route when the park opened years ago; however, due to that new route, guests will likely be blocked from standing on the sides due to spacing.

🔧 During the transformation project of Castle Stage, to last until Spring 2025, the parade will use this detour (which was actually the park’s very first parade route). Due to the limited space, it’s expected Guests will not be allowed to stand in this area. pic.twitter.com/Qv3ZAM8xdQ — DLP Report (@DLPReport) June 21, 2024

While the new restricted area will likely cause guests some confusion, the best part about parades are that they are not static so that you can pick a different spot on the parade route to get the full view still.

Disneyland Paris has certainly been undergoing quite a few hiccups as of late.

Disneyland Paris, a beloved European destination known for its immersive Disney magic, has recently encountered challenges related to park capacity. This situation has led to guest frustration and highlights the need for strategic crowd management solutions.

The recent audio announcements advising guests to postpone their visit to Walt Disney Studios Park until later in the day are not an isolated incident. Last summer, the resort faced similar issues, prompting guest access restrictions to be implemented during peak hours. This recurring theme of capacity constraints underscores the need for proactive measures to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse wave from a colorful parade float adorned with various decorative art, while Timon smiles at the camera. In the background is a fairytale castle and bubbles floating in the air, creating a magical atmosphere.

The reopening of the extensively refurbished Disneyland Hotel further exacerbated the capacity issues. An influx of visitors eager to explore the revamped hotel, exceeding initial expectations, created logistical hurdles. Paid guests even encountered difficulties gaining entry, highlighting the need for improved crowd control strategies within the hotel itself.

Additionally, the upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympics adds another layer of complexity. While 326,000 tickets are allocated for the opening ceremony, security concerns may limit opportunities for tourists to witness the event. This influx of visitors to the city further strains resources and necessitates effective crowd management across Paris, including Disneyland Paris.

The coming weeks may present ongoing challenges for Disneyland Paris. Enhanced communication with visitors is crucial, providing clear information about park capacity and alternative attractions or activities during peak periods. This could involve digital signage updates, mobile app notifications, and improved communication with guest services staff.

A Million Splashes of Colour at Disneyland Paris

Adapting marketing strategies to target local and regional visitors during peak seasons could also alleviate pressure on park capacity. This approach would maintain a dedicated visitor base while ensuring a manageable guest volume.

To add the cherry on top, much of Disney Village is also undergoing a construction transformation at the moment, adding to the less-than-magical  construction walls around the resort.

Ultimately, Disneyland Paris must prioritize guest experience, safety, and effective crowd management. By implementing these measures, the resort can navigate these challenges and continue to offer the magical experiences that have captivated European audiences for over three decades.
