12 Cheap Cruises Under $500 Per Person

When it comes to affordable vacations, it can be hard to beat cruising. Yes, you can spend as much as you want (including tens of thousands of dollars on the fanciest rooms, if you feel so inclined). But on the other end of the spectrum you can spend very little to get a great vacation .

Case in point: Our list of cruises under $300 .

In that list you’ll find a dozen trips that can take you to some of the world’s nicest beaches for less than three bills per person. However, while those cruises are popular, you usually can only cruise for a few days to meet that sort of budget.

That’s why we expanded our search with this list of cruises under $500 . With just a couple of hundred dollars extra per person, your list of options expands dramatically. Perhaps best of all, many week-long cruises are now within your budget.

What follows below are not necessarily the cheapest cruises you can take. Instead, we’ve highlighted a number of vacations that are under $500 and unique or good deals for varied reasons. This includes a trip aboard one of the largest cruise ships in the world, and some of the cheapest trips aboard a newer ship that we’ve seen.

The fares shown below are at the time of writing and subject to change . All fares are on a per-person basis for interior cabins, before taxes and port fees.

6 Night Caribbean Cruise From Miami on Carnival

Carnival Horizon in port in Nassau

Date: October 22, 2023 Ship: Carnival Horizon | Ports: Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Price: $369

Take a cruise to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Mexico on this six-night journey from Miami. Oh yeah, did we also mention that it’s aboard Carnival Horizon — one of the cruise line’s newest ships?

That’s right. For less than $400 per person (for an interior cabin), you can get a great vacation aboard one of the cruise line’s newer ships. Most of the time the rates on the newest ships are much higher as they are more popular with passengers. Learn more about this trip .

6 Night Caribbean Cruise From Tampa on Carnival

Date: December 3, 2023 Ship: Carnival Pride | Ports: Cozumel, Belize City, Costa Maya Price: $409

This list isn’t meant to be the absolute cheapest cruises you can buy. Instead, it’s a roundup of affordable cruises across destinations and ports. So while this cruise from Tampa isn’t the least expensive you will find, it is a good deal if you want to sail from the port.

For six nights you’ll sail to Cozumel , Belize City, and Costa Maya — three great ports in the Caribbean in December. It’s a great time to relax right before the holidays kick into high gear. Learn more about this trip .

5 Night Mexico Cruise From Los Angeles on Norwegian

Date: October 31, 2023 Ship: Norwegian Bliss | Ports: Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada Price: $497

In terms of overall price, this cruise may not be the hottest deal as you can sail for longer on other cruise lines for less money. Still, NCL is known for charging a premium, especially on their newer ships.

This trip is a quick getaway from Los Angeles, heading to the Pacific side of Mexico. You’ll stop in Cabo San Lucas, and Ensenada before returning home to Los Angeles. The cruise is aboard Norwegian Bliss, one of the line’s newer ships, being built in 2018. Learn more about this trip .

7 Night Caribbean Cruise From Galveston on Royal Caribbean

Date: October 15, 2023 Ship: Allure of the Seas | Ports: Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel Price: $441

Liberty of the Seas in Cozumel

Royal Caribbean is historically a little pricier than its main rival Carnival. However, there are still deals to be found. In this case, it’s aboard one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

This cruise aboard Allure of the Seas sails from Galveston (near Houston) for a seven night trip at just $441 per person. Along the way you will make stops in popular ports Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.

Allure of the Seas is part of the Oasis-class ships, which rank as the biggest in the world. Due to the size, they are able to offer an experience that’s unlike any other class of ships on the planet. And it’s all within driving distance for cruisers coming from Houston, which is a short drive away. Learn more about this trip .

7 Night Bahamas/Mexico Cruise From Port Canaveral on MSC

Date: September 17, 2023 Ship: MSC Seaside | Ports: Ocean Cay, Costa Maya, Cozumel Price: $399

Many American cruisers may not be familiar with MSC, which has a large presence in Europe. If you’re looking for deals, however, they are a good cruise line to consider as they have a number of inexpensive trips from Florida.

This sailing departs Port Canaveral near Orlando, heading to the cruise line’s private island — Ocean Cay . From there, it heads southwest to the Yucatan for stops in Costa Maya and Cozumel before returning home. Learn more about this trip .

6 Night Caribbean Cruise From Fort Lauderdale on Celebrity

Date: December 3, 2023 Ship: Celebrity Reflection | Ports: Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Bimini Price: $428

Celebrity is a luxury cruise line that’s a step above mass-market lines like Royal Caribbean or Carnival. In other words, you usually have to pay a bit extra to sail the line. This trip departs Fort Lauderdale for Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Bimini in The Bahamas. At just $428, it’s an inexpensive way to get a taste of a higher-end cruise to see if it’s right for you. Learn more about this trip .

6 Night Caribbean Cruise From Miami on Royal Caribbean

Date: April 9, 2023 Ship: Explorer of the Seas | Ports: CocoCay, Grand Cayman, Falmouth Price: $431

This cruise comes in at less than $450 for six nights of sailing. It also features a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island CocoCay . The cruise company spent hundreds of millions to renovate the island to a full-blown destination, complete with its own waterpark.

From there, it makes stops in Grand Cayman, and Falmouth, Jamaica before returning home to Miami. Learn more about this trip .

7 Night Caribbean Cruise From Port Canaveral on Carnival

Date: December 2, 2023 Ship: Mardi Gras | Ports: San Juan, Amber Cove, Grand Turk Price: $539

This cruise is slightly above the $500 price tag, but it is one that we think is too good a deal not to mention. This trip is $539 for an interior cabin on a week-long cruise, but it’s aboard Mardi Gras. That’s Carnival’s newest Excel-class of ship and a completely different style than anything else in its fleet. The ship even includes the first roller coaster at sea.

While the ship will definitely be a highlight, you’ll also sail to San Juan, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk. Learn more about this trip .

5 Night Caribbean Cruise From New York on Norwegian

Date: November 10, 2023 Ship: Norwegian Escape | Ports: Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda Price: $442

Think of cruising and it is unlikely to imagine New York. However, all the major lines cruise from there. Given the distance from The Bahamas, trips tend to be longer (and thus more expensive). Still, we found this trip aboard Norwegian Escape headed to Bermuda for just five days. That means a lot of time on the ship, but Escape is large and new enough to find plenty to do. Learn more about this trip .

Date: November 5, 2023 Ship: Harmony of the Seas | Ports: Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Price: $471

A 7-night cruise is a great time, but this trip takes it up a notch. That’s because it is aboard Harmony of the Seas, which is among the largest cruise ships in the world. That size gives you access to an experience unlike any other on a cruise ship. This includes things like the Flowrider standing wave, the Aqua Theater, and the massive Solarium for adults on this class of ships.

Meanwhile, passengers will stop in Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. It also sails in November, giving passengers a chance to escape the start of winter back home and get some sunshine before the holidays. Learn more about this trip .

7 Night Caribbean Cruise From New Orleans on Carnival

Date: September 3, 2023 Ship: Carnival Glory | Ports: Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Price: $469

You can find inexpensive cruises from more than just southern Florida. This cruise aboard the Carnival Glory departs from New Orleans in September. During the cruise you’ll have stops in Montego Bay (Jamaica), Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. It’s especially good for those without kids since its right after school returns to the classroom. Learn more about this trip .

Bonus Cruise:

7 night caribbean cruise from new york on msc.

Date: February 4, 2024 Ship: MSC Meraviglia | Ports: Port Canaveral, Ocean Cay, Nassau Price: $299

MSC Seaside docked in Costa Maya

The final cruise on our list is aboard the MSC Meraviglia, a relatively new ship that is one of the most beautiful cruise liners at sea. This cruise will take you from New York — during the peak of winter — for a week with stops in sunny Florida, as well as Ocean Cay — MSC’s private island and Nassau. And getting away for a week doesn’t have to cost a fortune. We found rates starting at $299 per person to escape the brutal winter. Learn more about this trip .

I don't know why they say there is a "booking window". You can book up to three years from purchase.

Unless this is the window to purchase the special $500 promotion and it ends January 4th??

The booking window is the double amount. It’s usually not 500 dollars.it comes and goes, now it’s here 😉

That's pretty much what I said in regard to the promotion.

My issue was with them using the term "booking". You book a cruise...you purchase a certificate.

Ok, let’s call it purchasing window. My point is that the 500 hasn’t been around for awhile and now it’s back.

Thanks for the reminder of the sale. I saw @laudergayle had mentioned the sale on another thread, and after I saw it, I was ready to pull the trigger. But being the old guy that I am, I went into the NCL site and couldn't remember what I went there for.  🤪

Just went back to the site and "purchased" one. Now I'll have to "book" another cruise.

I hate when that happens...

Haha

it comes and goes quite frequently. or as dorothy gale quipped "[cruise first certificates] come and go so quickly here."

i think the black friday "sale" was the last time we saw it and it lasted about a week. so, it's been about three weeks. i've been waiting for it to return, as i was unable to purchase last time due to web site login snafus.

what's interesting is that the terms say a cruise of six days or more is required. i remember it as being five days previously, but perhaps i'm misremembering. not a concern, as most of my cruises are seven days or more... still, that caught my eye.

So, if the price of your cruise drops and you rebook, instead of $500, you only get the $250 you purchased the certificate for?

Typically it is not a cancel/rebook just a price adjustment and the booking number stays the same.

Thanks

It would be nice if somebody who has done this, with a CruiseFirst applied, could educate us.

I’ve done this without any issue.  I did ask my PCC before doing it and she said it was not a new booking, just a change.  I know you reprice when possible, if you look at your booking #, my guess is that it doesn’t change.

Despite what some say…we have also used $500 CF and later applied $500 CN…not intentionally.  We don’t use our PCC when applying our certs, so there was no human intervention.  I wouldn’t recommend trying this as I worried the entire time they would cancel our booking.  They did not, thankfully.

They had them for a Black Friday sale last month.  I bought one a couple of days after booking a cruise and using a $250 Cruise Next for that.  It’s nice having that $500 certificate; it makes a cruise almost seem like a bargain!

Am I missing something here?  I buy a $500 cruisenext certificate for $250?  I've been away from NCL for awhile, is this the way this promotion works?

Yes.  Still a 50% savings but you don’t get as much.

I got one cruise first yesterday and i have another from last year. In my account they don't show any expiration date but the terms still says 3 years ? Will they expire or not ?

no, they do not expire. 3 years is old information

mistertomatoe

Typical NCL mess. Their people are saying CruiseFirst and CruiseNext certs don't expire anymore but don't update their website. I suspect other things are changing for the worse.. (since I doubt they will let the certs go on forever without some way for them to end).

I don't worry about expiration dates on the certs. I'll probably expire before they do.

My guess is NCL removed the expiration dates for accounting purposes.  Without expiration dates they have an indefinite time to reduce projected revenue.  In other words, they can claim revenue today for selling certs, but don’t have to reduce future revenue projections on a three year model.  It’s really just a smoke and mirrors tactic for NCL bottom line.

how often do they do the $500 offer. i just got one and booked for 2024. is it worth it to grab another for 2025? or will there be aother opp before then?

not that often. It is only done 1-2 times a year

i haven't kept track, but i think it's done a bit more often than once or twice a year.

they did it for black friday, and here we are, about five or six weeks later and, oops, they've done it again.

Best Tips for First-Time Cruisers to Make Cruising Fun

I recently returned from my first cruise and I’m pretty sure I did more research for this trip than I did for my doctorate degree! I combed numerous websites, subscribed to multiple YouTube channels, talked to several different cruise line employees, and polled almost every friend (and stranger) that I encountered looking for tips for first-time cruisers .

Embarking on your first cruise is exciting but can be a bit overwhelming.  There’s so much information out there. To ensure you make the most of your cruise, here are some essential tips to help you navigate the seas and create memories that will last a lifetime.

This site may contain links to affiliate websites, and we receive an affiliate commission for any purchases made by you on the affiliate website at no extra cost to you.

How do I prepare for my first cruise?

So, you’ve decided to take a cruise vacation. Now what? Here are my top tips for planning to cruise for the very first time.

1. Do Your Research

Before booking your cruise, take the time to research different cruise lines, itineraries, and ships. Consider the atmosphere, amenities, and activities offered by each cruise line to find one that aligns with your preferences. Reading reviews from fellow travelers can provide valuable insights and help you make an informed decision.

The Points Guy has a comparison of several popular cruise lines.

Here’s a quick comparison of several top cruise lines, each known for its unique offerings and distinct cruise experiences:

Royal Caribbean International:

  • Known For: Innovation and Adventure
  • Highlights: Quantum and Oasis-class ships, rock climbing, Broadway-style entertainment, diverse dining options, and high-energy activities like FlowRider and zip-lining.

Carnival Cruise Line:

  • Known For: Fun and Lively Atmosphere
  • Highlights: “Fun Ships” with vibrant décor, extensive entertainment, WaterWorks water park, casual dining options, and themed cruise events.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL):

  • Known For: Freestyle Cruising
  • Highlights: Freestyle dining with no set dining times, Broadway-caliber entertainment, The Haven luxury suites, and a variety of specialty restaurants.

Disney Cruise Line:

  • Known For: Family-Friendly Magic
  • Highlights: Themed cruises for families, classic Disney characters, Broadway-style shows, rotational dining, and private island Castaway Cay.

MSC Cruises:

  • Known For: European Elegance
  • Highlights: Modern and elegant ships, diverse international cuisine, partnerships with celebrity chefs, and a variety of entertainment options.

Holland America Line:

  • Known For: Classic Cruising Experience
  • Highlights: Premium service, classic décor, extensive art collections onboard, Culinary Council featuring renowned chefs, and in-depth destination experiences.

Princess Cruises:

  • Known For: Relaxation and Romance
  • Highlights: The “Movies Under the Stars” experience, traditional dining, diverse itineraries, and the Royal-class ships with innovative amenities.

Celebrity Cruises:

  • Known For: Modern Luxury
  • Highlights: Modern and stylish ships, gourmet dining, Canyon Ranch Spa, premium accommodations, and diverse entertainment options.

Costa Cruises:

  • Known For: Italian Flair
  • Highlights: Italian-themed cruises, diverse dining options, extensive spa facilities, and themed parties.

Viking Ocean Cruises:

  • Known For: Destination-Focused Cruising
  • Highlights: Small and intimate ships, inclusive excursions, enrichment programs, and a focus on cultural experiences.

Remember, the “best” cruise line depends on individual preferences, interests, and the type of experience you’re seeking. Whether you crave adventure, family fun, luxury, or cultural exploration, there’s a cruise line tailored to your needs.

2. Plan and Book in Advance

Cruises are popular vacation choices, and activities and dining reservations can fill up quickly. To avoid disappointment, it’s a good idea to plan and book as much as possible in advance. This includes shore excursions, specialty dining, and spa treatments. Early planning ensures you secure the experiences you desire and allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable cruise.

3. Pack Wisely

Packing for a cruise requires a balance between preparation and simplicity. Be sure to pack comfortable clothing, swimwear, and formal attire for special evenings. Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, medications, and travel adapters. Most cruise lines provide detailed packing lists to guide you, so take advantage of these resources.

First-time cruisers, in the excitement of planning their voyage, may occasionally overlook essential items that can enhance their cruise experience. Here’s a sample list of items often forgotten by cruise newcomers:

Power Strip or Extension Cord:

  • Cruise cabins may have limited power outlets, so bringing a power strip or extension cord can be invaluable for charging multiple devices.

Travel-Sized Laundry Detergent:

  • A small amount of laundry detergent can be useful for washing swimwear and other garments in the cabin sink.

Highlighter:

  • Bring a highlighter to mark important activities and events on the daily cruise schedule provided in your cabin.

Reusable Water Bottle:

  • Staying hydrated is crucial. Bring a reusable water bottle to fill up at water stations on the ship and take with you on excursions.

Sunscreen and Aloe Vera:

  • Protect your skin from the sun’s rays with sunscreen and have a soothing aloe vera gel on hand for any sunburns.

Motion Sickness Medication:

  • Even if you don’t typically experience motion sickness, it’s wise to have medication or remedies just in case the seas get rough.

Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer:

  • This can be a handy way to keep small items organized in your cabin, as cruise cabins often have limited counter space.

Small First Aid Kit:

  • Include basics like pain relievers, band-aids, seasickness medication, and any prescription medications you may need.

Waterproof Phone Case:

  • Protect your phone during water-based activities and shore excursions with a waterproof case.

Snorkel Gear:

  • If your cruise includes snorkeling destinations and you have your own gear, bringing it along can save you rental fees and ensure a better fit.

Travel Alarm Clock:

  • While most cruise cabins have alarm clocks, having your own can be reassuring, especially if you’re exploring different time zones.

Formal Night Attire:

  • Check the dress code for formal nights and bring appropriate attire if you plan to participate in these special evenings.

Travel Adapters:

  • If your cruise visits different countries, ensure you have the right travel adapters to charge your electronic devices.

Lanyard or Passport Holder:

  • Keep your cruise card, ID, and key documents secure and easily accessible with a lanyard or passport holder.

Backpack or Day Bag:

  • Useful for carrying essentials during shore excursions, such as water, sunscreen, a camera, and any purchased souvenirs.

Phone Charger:

  • Though I highly recommend unplugging while you’re on your cruise, you will need your phone to capture pictures and videos to look back on after the cruise.

4. Budget for Extras

While cruises often include meals and entertainment, there are additional expenses you should budget for, such as gratuities, room service, excursions and onboard purchases. Plan ahead and allocate funds for these extras to avoid any unexpected financial stress during your cruise. (It’s also recommended to use a credit card rather than a debit card while you’re traveling.)

Here are some common examples of “extras” on a cruise:

Gratuities:

  • While some cruise lines automatically include gratuities in the overall fare, others add them as a daily charge. Be aware of the tipping policy and budget accordingly for tips to service staff.

Alcoholic Beverages:

  • Most cruise lines charge for alcoholic beverages. Some offer a drink package, but these are often separate from the initial cruise fare.

Specialty Dining:

  • Cruise ships typically include dining options in the main dining room and buffet. But many also offer specialty restaurants that come with an additional fee.

Excursions:

  • Shore excursions, while a fantastic way to explore the ports of call, are usually not included in the cruise fare. Budget for guided tours, water activities, and other excursions you may be interested in.

Internet and Communication:

  • Internet access on cruise ships is often an extra cost. While some cruise lines offer packages, the internet speed may be limited, and additional charges can apply for premium plans.

Spa and Fitness Services:

  • Spa treatments, fitness classes, and personal training sessions are often available onboard for an extra fee.

Photography Services:

  • Professional photos taken by the ship’s photographers during formal nights and other events come with a price tag. Be prepared for the cost if you choose to purchase them.

Casino and Gambling:

  • Casinos on cruise ships are popular, but gambling comes at an additional cost. Set a budget if you plan to try your luck in the onboard casino.
  • Onboard shops offer a variety of merchandise, from clothing to souvenirs. Budget for any onboard shopping you may want to do.

Art Auctions:

  • Some cruise lines host art auctions onboard. While attendance is free, purchasing artwork can add up.

Special Events and Shows:

  • While many entertainment options are included, some cruise lines have premium shows or events that come with an extra charge.

Laundry and Dry Cleaning:

  • Laundry services are typically available, but they come with a cost. Consider bringing travel-sized detergent to do some handwashing in your cabin.

Medical Services:

  • Medical services provided by the ship’s medical staff, including medications and consultations, may come with an extra charge.

Arcade and Video Games:

  • If the ship has an arcade or video game area, playing games usually incurs additional fees.

Port Fees and Taxes:

  • While not an onboard expense, it’s essential to be aware of any port fees and taxes that may not be included in the initial cruise fare.

By planning ahead and budgeting for these potential extra expenses, cruisers can ensure a more enjoyable and stress-free experience.

5. Stay Healthy and Safe

Cruises are generally safe, but it’s important to prioritize your health and safety. Wash your hands regularly, use hand sanitizer, and follow any health guidelines provided by the cruise line. Familiarize yourself with the ship’s layout and emergency procedures to ensure you’re prepared for any situation.

6. Embrace the Ship’s Culture

Each cruise ship has its own unique atmosphere and culture. Whether you’re on a family-friendly cruise, a luxury liner, or an adventure-focused vessel, embrace the ship’s culture and participate in onboard activities. From themed parties to Broadway-style shows, there’s always something exciting happening on a cruise ship.

7. Disconnect and Reconnect

While many modern cruise ships offer Wi-Fi and connectivity, consider taking this opportunity to disconnect from the digital world and immerse yourself in the cruise experience. Spend quality time with travel companions, engage in onboard activities, and savor the breathtaking views without the distraction of constant notifications.

Embarking on your first cruise is a journey filled with anticipation and wonder. By doing your research, planning in advance, packing wisely, budgeting for extras, prioritizing health and safety, embracing the ship’s culture, and disconnecting to reconnect, you’ll set the stage for a memorable and enjoyable cruise experience. So, pack your bags, leave your worries behind, and get ready to sail into the adventure of a lifetime!

I recently returned from my first cruise and I’m pretty sure I did more research for this trip than I did for my doctorate degree! How my family of 4 spent $10,000 on a Caribbean cruise — and what we'll cut next time even though we had a blast

  • My family of four splurged on a seven-night Caribbean cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy .
  • We stayed in an inexpensive class of stateroom, but paid $7,000+ to cruise during spring break.
  • We didn't watch our onboard spending and money spent on excursions, which quickly added up.

Insider Today

My family of four – my husband, two teens, and myself – sailed on the Disney Fantasy this spring. Our cruise was seven nights and left from Port Canaveral , Florida, near Orlando.

Our ship stopped in Grand Cayman, Falmouth, Jamaica, Cozumel, Mexico, and Disney's island, Castaway Cay . This was our first time sailing on the Fantasy and our ninth Disney cruise.

Our trip cost just over $10,000. Perhaps surprisingly, this is on par with the higher end of what a family can expect to spend on a seven-night Caribbean cruise: about $270 to $2,600 a person .

Here's a rough look at what we spent:

Cruise: $7,300 (includes interior room, meals, and entertainment)

Excursions: $1,160

Alcohol: $334

Bingo: $152

Here's the value we felt we got and what we might do differently next time.

We got the cheapest room type but would've saved by sailing at a different time of year

Even though we stayed in the cheapest stateroom category — interior cabins — our cruise was still pricey because we sailed during spring break.

We could've saved $3,000 on the cruise if we'd went in September, which is during hurricane season and while school is in session for our kids. In the end, we couldn't justify our sons missing that week of school.

Related stories

Sadly, there's not much getting around this cost in the next few years. It's hard for us to travel during cheaper times since cruises almost always cost more during spring break, summertime, and over the winter holidays when most kids are out of school.

I don't regret our WiFi or bingo budgets

We bought an intermediate WiFi package for $490 and spent $152 on bingo.

We don't usually spend money on WiFi while cruising, but decided to get a package since this was a longer sailing . This allowed my kids to play their online games at night and me to keep an eye on my inbox.

No one was glued to their device, and even though this was quite a chunk of change, I'd consider it again for a longer cruise like this one.

The bingo turned out to be an OK investment since we won $145 and almost broke even. We usually play at least one round of bingo and usually don't win much, but my kids enjoy it, and it's something we do as a family.

Still, excursions, spa treatments, and drinks added up

We booked excursions in Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Cozumel, and my husband and I had a couple's massage on the beach at Castaway Cay.

We didn't book super elaborate excursions, but costs added up for four people. Even so, I don't regret any of the experiences or the time spent with my family.

We could've cut back on our excursions budget by not booking directly with Disney Cruise Line or finding a spot to snorkel on our own, but I liked the ease and security of booking directly with the cruise line.

We've heard a lot of horror stories lately about cruise-ship passengers getting left behind in ports , and we always figure our odds are better if we're on an excursion arranged by the ship.

Next time, we might cut back on drinks and spa treatments

Since we're limited by when we can travel, we're honing in on alcohol and spa treatments as areas we can spend less money on.

We're not huge drinkers, but my husband and I enjoy having a glass of wine with our dinner and a couple of cocktails on deck or while lounging on the beach at Castaway Cay.

On future trips, we may cut back. When we looked at our bill, we saw that some of the wine we ordered was as much as $18.50 per glass!

And, as much as we loved the massages on the beach, they cost $289 a person (including automatic gratuity). Getting a massage in a beachside cabana while on vacation was super relaxing, but we can get massages at home for a fraction of that price.

Overall, we loved our cruise and have no regrets

The longer cruise with four ports of call was pricier than we realized, and we got a bit of sticker shock when we saw the final bill with our onboard extras.

I don't have any regrets since my family has always been more focused on experiences than stuff : We don't drive fancy cars or wear expensive clothes, but we prioritize nice vacations.

Although we know we need to curb the spending in a few areas and be a little more aware of what things cost when charging things to our room, we came away with fond memories that were worth every penny.
