Visitors can enjoy various tasty items here and the signature dishes include Rang biryani seekh, Tandoori Choosa, Paneer Tikka Tawa masala, etc. Here, the Amritsari Food Festival is the most popular one! Though the restaurant has closed its operation for some time but soon will resume.

· Citco Da Vehra: Another amazing place managed by the corporation is this traditional Punjabi Haveli adorned with Courtyard and impressive allas. The motifs offer classy mini rural Punjabi style to the place. Though their operations are closed for some time but soon will resume.

· Glassy Bar: For happening people, Glassy Bar offers special DJ system and lighting arrangements. It hosts theme based parties and get-togethers. Though the Bar has closed its operation for some time but soon will resume.

· Industrial: CITCO also functions as Chandigarh Small Industries Development Corporation and deals regulating the industrial affairs, distribution of iron and steel raw material, etc.

· Petrol Pump: The CITCO Corporation was allotted with land in 1992 to set up a Petrol Pump in Sector 9. Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) came into being as a company in 1974 under the Companies Act 1956. The Corporation attained additional duties of promoting tourism and other associated activities in 1982.

CITCO is responsible for making Chandigarh an attractive spot for tourists from across the nation and the world.

A Nature Delight

The place, in itself, is bestowed by the beauty of nature. One such beauty is embedded in Asia’s biggest Rose Garden located here. It is sprawled in an area of 27 acres. It boasts of over 17,000 plants with about 1,600 rose varieties. The garden also has fountains.

For nature lovers, this is one of the best places to be in India. The city actually has a green side to it. Gardens like the Botanical Garden, Fitness Trails, Hibiscus Garden, Terraced Garden and Garden of Fragrance take your heart to bliss.

The Plaza Carnival organized in Sector 17 of Chandigarh on most Saturday evenings witnesses crowds gather at this place. This cultural show is filled with songs, plays, dance, and other attractions.

The Chrysanthemum Show, organized at the Terrace Garden, located in Sector 33, is an outstanding show to attend. It is held in December. It exhibits a large number of varieties of flowers. Gardening competitions are also held at this place.

The Sukhna Lake features toy train, boat rides, fishing spots, machine toys, and other events that make tourists flock to this place. People coming here are greeted by a variety of geese and ducks. Lots of migratory birds from Japan and Siberia visit the lake during winter. Last year’s winter saw snowfall at this place. There is also a golf course just adjacent to the lake.

CITCO privilege card holders will be entitled to discounts

The chandigarh industrial and tourism development corporation board of directors has approved a discount on food for room service on paid privilege cards.

The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) Board of Directors has approved a discount on food for room service on paid privilege cards. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Board held today.

CITCO will issue the Gold Card for Rs 3,000 and its holders will get a 25 per cent discount on food and rooms. The Silver Card,priced at Rs 1,500,will allow customers a 15 per cent discount on food and rooms.

The meeting,presided by UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas,approved the filling up of posts of general manager (hotels) and chef on a contract basis.

It was also decided that the employees would be paid a bonus as per their performance records. The gratuity to be paid to CITCO employees would be enhanced from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs10 lakh.

The Board also gave administrative approval for the installation of a Rs 56 lakhs sewerage treatment plant at Hotel Mountview.

CITCO’s overall financial performance,including that of Hotel Mountview,Hotel Shivalikview,Hotel Parkview,the sales depot,petrol pumps and other units,was discussed. It was announced that the Corporation had made a profit of Rs 6.12 crore during the first four months of the current financial year,which is 11 per cent higher than the cash profit of Rs 5.51 crore achieved in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

There is resentment among the employees about the bonus policy and the CITCO Employees Union has demanded a uniform bonus for all employees.

Farida Jalal and Rajesh Khanna, who began their careers together as joint winners of a talent show, worked together in the hit film Aradhana. Despite initial conflicts due to Rajesh's arrogance on set, they became friends during the film's post-release tour, where Farida witnessed his intense stardom.

Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation’s old petrol pumps struggling to maintain profit

Two of four old petrol pumps operated by chandigarh industrial and tourism development corporation’s (citco’s) have reported a dip in profit, indicating that they are struggling to bring in customers and maintain sales.

Two of four old petrol pumps operated by Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation’s (CITCO’s) have reported a dip in profit, indicating that they are struggling to bring in customers and maintain sales.

At the CITCO petrol pump in Sector 38 (West), profit dipped to ₹ 28 lakh between April 1 and July 31, 2022, a dip of 20% from the corresponding period in 2021, when it was reported at ₹ 35 lakh.

Similarly, it dipped from ₹ 23 lakh to ₹ 22 lakh at the Sector 17 petrol pump for the same period. Collectively, the four older stations, have reported dip in profit from ₹ 1.93 crore to ₹ 1.89 crore.

In total, CITCO operates seven petrol pumps, of which three started operating last year and all of them clocked profit.

The petrol pumps in Industrial Area, Phase 1, and Dhanas reported profit of ₹ 73 lakh and ₹ 45 lakh, respectively. The Raipur Kalan petrol pump also reported a jump in profit from ₹ 57 lakh in the last fiscal to ₹ 87 lakh.

When contacted, Sudhir Gupta, deputy general manager of petrol pumps under CITCO, refused to comment on the issue, stating that he does not remember the figures.

On downward trajectory for 4 years

A deep dive into the figures reveals that the downward trajectory of profits at the old petrol pumps started four years ago.

At the fuel station in Sector 9, profit has plummetted from ₹ 1 crore in 2018 to ₹ 70 lakh this fiscal, a dip of 30%. The situation at the Sector 38 (West) fuel station isn’t faring much better, where profit has seen a sharp drop from ₹ 97 lakh in 2018 to ₹ 28 lakh now.

The Sector 56 facility has also seen dipping profitability from ₹ 88 lakh in 2018 to ₹ 66 lakh this year .
