How to Visit Camp Nou: Barcelona Stadium Visit Info 2024

a view of the pitch at camp nou barcelona

Wanna know how to visit Camp Nou? Camp Nou Stadium tours can take this already historic stadium to a new level.

Home to legendary FC Barcelona, aside from taking the field yourself (you actually can!) the Nou Camp tour is the best way to experience world class football.

In fact, this Barcelona stadium tour is the second biggest tourist attraction in Catalonia behind the epic Sagrada Familia.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to visit Nou Camp in one handy guide.

Can You Visit Camp Nou?

ATTENTION (01/29/24): On May 29th 2023 Camp Nou started an aggressive renovation project. During the renovation it won’t be possible to book traditional Camp Nou tours. There is only one, which I’ll get to below.

Yes, you can visit Camp Nou, the iconic home stadium of FC Barcelona.

There are several ways to visit Barcelona football stadium:

  • Camp Nou Immersive Tour : This is the only way to visit Camp Nou in 2024 . It includes access to the museum, an audio guide, some looks into the construction, and the Spotify Camp Nou Live immersive room.
  • Match Days : Attending a live football match at Camp Nou is an incredible experience, but in 2024 you won’t be able to! They’re currently playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys until November 2024.
  • Guided Tours : Opt for a guided tour if you want a more in-depth and informative visit. These will return in November 2024!
  • VIP Experience : For a premium visit, consider VIP packages that offer exclusive access, premium seating, and hospitality services.

How to Visit Camp Nou: Visiting Barcelona Football Stadium

Again, from June 7th 2023 the only tickets you can get to visit Camp Nou are for the Immersive Tour .

This includes the museum visit with an English audio guide + access to the audiovisual space Spotify Camp Nou Live.

You’ll find many online ticket resellers, but we recommend relying on our collaborator Tiqets, which help us to keep this blog (which we’ve dedicated 1000’s of hours to) free.

Here’s a link to book the only current Camp Nou tour left:

Every Camp Nou booking helps us get closer to doing this blog for a living, so thank you 🙏

Visit Nou Camp: The Museum

It’s here in this modern and interactive space that you appreciate just how good this club is.

You’ll start off listening to the team anthem with a translation in just about any language needed.

It’s in the museum where you can flip through touch screens with tons of info on the club’s greatest players. You’ll also get a great snapshot into the team’s history watching a video presentation of some of the club’s biggest moments on a massive screen.

⚠️  Warning ⚠️ : Barcelona’s top two attractions must now be booked in advance .

You can book fast track tickets to both individually or get them as part of a discount pass:

  • ⛪ Buy now:  Sagrada Familia Fast Track Admission (skip the lines)
  • 🏞️ Buy now:  Park Guell Fast Track Admission  (skip the lines)
  • 🎟️  Buy now: Best of Barcelona Bundle (Sagrada + Park Guell + 10% discount code for all else)

You will not be able to book these tickets on site – lock in your tickets ASAP or you could miss out.

You can visit Barcelona football stadium and take a selfie with the 22 League trophies and 4 Champions League trophies .

There’s just a ton of memorabilia and equipment spanning the club’s 100+ years of history.

Top it all off with a visit to the largest official FC Barcelona team shop.

Camp Nou Visit Prices

Adding the camp nou museum audio guide.

The audio guide to visit Nou Camp, available in English , is not included in the standard ticket and  must be added during the booking .

It costs €6.00 and I recommend it only to those who are truly interested in curiosities about Barça.

You can request earphones or bring your own headphones .

The duration of the audio guide is about 1 hour and is concentrated in the museum part, so if you are accompanied by someone who has little patience, perhaps it is not for you.

During this visit of Barcelona Football Stadium it’ll go into deep detail about:

  • Paulino Alcantara’s shoes (the first Messi of 1910)
  • The history of the first FC Barcelona stadium
  • What happened during the Franco dictatorship
  • Anecdotes about the goalscorer Kubala in the 1950s
  • The construction of Camp Nou
  • Tidbits about Johan Cruijff, Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Messi

guest scoring a goal against the robokeeper on the camp nou tour in barcelona spain

This is our favorite part of the Camp Nou visit! Here you can try to beat the world’s best keeper – which is actually a robot.

Three shots cost €6 . 00 and you can pay it straight to the guy at the start of the queue.

There’s really only one way to score here, and that’s burying it Beckham-style into the top corner 😉

In fact, there’s a video online of Messi and Neymar missing – so good luck!

Oscar naturally buried his first shot, then decided to retire.

Final score: Barcelona Hacks 1 – FC Barcelona 0.

Camp Nou Stadium Tour History

By the late 1940’s rising football power FC Barcelona had outgrown the Camp de Les Corts and needed a new stadium to house all the new fans generated by star striker Ladislao Kubala .

Cue the aptly named Camp Nou (‘New Camp’).

The city broke ground on this UEFA five star stadium on March 28th, 1954.

When the last brick was laid Camp Nou had a capacity of 99,354 . The ground was set for some of the greatest teams in football history to frustrate opponents – like hated rivals Real Madrid.

Long before any tours of Camp Nou the stadium hosted the Olympics, World Cup (with 120,000 spectators including added standing tickets), the Champions League Final , and even the Pope.

A €600 million Camp Nou renovation project is currently underway – but the games go on!

So, make sure to make your Barcelona football stadium visit in 2024 count 🙂

Barcelona’s Camp Nou rebuild is ‘on schedule’. It can’t come soon enough

Barcelona’s Camp Nou rebuild is ‘on schedule’. It can’t come soon enough

At half past one on a March afternoon, workers rebuilding Barcelona ’s Camp Nou stadium take off their white helmets and parade to their chosen place for lunch.

Some of them head towards Carrer d’Aristides Maillol, an area full of restaurants and cafes. Others prefer to eat their sandwiches under the shade of the pine trees on Avinguda de Joan XXIII near La Masia de Can Planes — the legendary former site of Barca’s youth academy (which is now located at the club’s training ground on the city’s outskirts).

For the past eight months, one of the most prestigious arenas in world football has been their workplace. The esplanade in front of the Camp Nou used to be a gathering place for Barca fans. Now it is a territory defined by dust and noise.

Tourists still come here, though. A boy of about eight years old seems disappointed by Europe’s biggest stadium as it appears today. His mother tenderly comforts him by stroking his head and saying: “We’ll have to come back when it’s finished.” The boy does not seem entirely satisfied with this proposal.

Barcelona have said they plan to return in time for their 125th anniversary (the club was founded on November 29, 1899), with the revamped Camp Nou due to open at two-thirds capacity. But that seemed to slip slightly when at the end of last season president Joan Laporta said: “On our return in December 2024, assuming no unforeseen circumstances, we will have the best stadium in the world.”

Capacity is planned to increase to 90 to 95 per cent for the 2025-26 season, and Barcelona and builders Limak have agreed a date of June 2026 for the ground to be completed — with current costs for the project at €900million (£766m; $984m at present rates).

However, costs for the wider Espai Barca project — of which the stadium renovation is the most significant part — were most recently estimated at €1.5billion (£1.3bn; $1.6bn). And given how that project has advanced so far over the last two decades, setbacks and delays cannot be ruled out.

Special report: Inside the chaos and controversy of Barca's Camp Nou rebuild

“Being on time is the most important thing,” Laporta said on a visit to the Camp Nou site in November. When asked by The Athletic this week, Barcelona said the Camp Nou works are indeed “on schedule”.

Local pensioners come every day to keep an eye on how things are progressing. They know the vantage points that give you the best view over the high metal fences surrounding the construction. “Stand over there,” one man says, pointing towards the Municipal de Les Corts cemetery, on slightly higher ground.

Some 1,200 workers are currently employed on the site. That number has grown from around 250 during the first phases of demolition and is expected to grow further still.

Back in November, Spanish newspaper El Periodico published an investigative report into the Camp Nou reconstruction, alleging some employees hired by subcontractors had not been paid for overtime.

Following the report, regional government inspectors visited the site. An investigation by Catalonia’s Inspeccio de Treball (Labour Inspectorate) is ongoing, and they have been making monthly visits since. Barcelona are themselves not the subject of any investigation, and no safety issues have been found on the site. Limak has been approached for comment.

Barcelona have installed a temporary section of shops and attractions, linking out to the other spaces they also plan to renovate as part of the wider Espai Barca project. The walkway leading towards venues still housing Barca’s basketball, handball and roller hockey teams play looks like something out of a theme park. Below looms the ghostly shape of a deconstructed football ground.

Right now, the main focus of the Camp Nou works is on the pillars that will support the stadium’s new third tier. Enormous cranes have been assembled to help lift them into place. The cranes are 85 metres tall and were shipped in from Kuwait.

The ground’s old lower two tiers have already been cleaned up and restored. They were built in 1957, and few recent visitors to the ground would disagree that they were showing signs of wear and tear.

It is vital that Barca return as soon as possible because their temporary stay at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys does no favours to the club’s finances. Last year it was estimated that playing this season on Montjuic would cost them about €90million (£77m; $98m), taking into account lost revenue and money spent to get the ground match-ready.

can you visit camp nou during renovation

Attendances have been lower than expected, and the club also had to cut ticket prices in an attempt to boost demand. Of the 80,274 season-ticket holders at Camp Nou, only 17,552 took up the option to move to Montjuic when the club had made 27,385 places available to them.

The Lluis Companys’ official capacity is 54,367 — although almost 10 per cent of those seats have limited visibility. Only 49,472 have 100 per cent pitch views for a football match.

Over 50,000 attended October’s El Clasico defeat by Real Madrid (50,112), while 46,229 watched January’s defeat by Villarreal . The worst attendances so far have been for the December games against Almeria (34,471) and Atletico Madrid (34,568). Their average gate is 40,959. The atmosphere has not been terrible at home matches, but it is not Camp Nou.

go-deeper

Barca members aren't attending games at Montjuic - where have they gone?

On Monday, Barcelona released new projected images of the completed ground in a presentation made at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia. Executives described the project as “a benchmark for the city and for the world”. A story covering the event on Barcelona’s official website did not mention the 125th anniversary in November, instead noting their return was “planned for the end of this year of 2024”.

With the club so far enduring a season to forget (on the domestic front at least — Tuesday’s key Champions League match against Napoli is to come) on Montjuic, the prospect of moving back to Camp Nou is an exciting one.

Fans are hoping it comes as quickly as possible — especially those who decided against following the team across town.

Inside Barcelona’s ambitious plan to reinvent the Camp Nou

Future Camp Nou

FC Barcelona has entrenched ties with the city’s locals and the Camp Nou stadium ranks among Barcelona’s top tourist attractions; considering the abundance of cultural riches in Catalonia, it shows just how intertwined football has become with the region’s capital.

But, like many other clubs’ stadiums, there comes a time when renovation is necessary. For FC Barcelona this has meant a €360m (£318m) investment in Camp Nou, part of a larger €600m (£530m) project dubbed Espai Barça to ensure that the club equals, and even improves on, the world’s best football arenas. The Espai Barça project’s completion is scheduled for the 2022-23 season.

Although consideration was made to move into other premises, the fact that the club has 85,000 season ticket holders meant that this would not be welcomed by its loyal members. Therefore, the club was tasked with a challenging concept of renovating a 60-year-old stadium, which has only received three additions in its history: the addition of a third tier in time for the 1982 World Cup, a new first tier in 1994, and a club museum.

The swathe of changes include an upgrade of Wi-Fi technology to support the surge in data usage, improvements in VIP hospitality services and an increase in capacity by 6,000 seats.

The changes are also focused on improving the quality of the stadium rather than the quantity of seats. This will be facilitated by constructing an underground parking area to improve access for fans, making the first tier of the stadium more vertical to improve visibility and adding Catalan experiences to the stadium before and after the match.

“This means that coming to Camp Nou would mean more than just a 90-minute game, which is what it is now,” says Jordi Moix, the commissioner of Espai Barça.

A roof will be installed onto the stadium to ensure the home atmosphere is captured to spur on Barça, but more importantly, to ensure that the fans watching inside are protected from rain or even sunlight on the hottest days.

And, in keeping with the fact that the Camp Nou is a sightseeing attraction in a country with a warm climate, visitors will have an open view of the stadium from the outside.

“Most stadiums are covered with a façade, which makes sense for cold climate countries, but Barcelona has a good conditions so we wanted to provide a good city view for the many tourists that come here” explains Takeyuki Katsuya of Nikken Sekkei, the lead designer of Future Camp Nou.

ARENA : Multi-purpose arena with a main hall capacity of 12,500, seating an additional 2,000 in an adjoining hall

ICE RINK : At 30m x 60m, Future Palau Blaugrana boasts an olympic sized rink

PITCHES : Two new replacement football pitches for FCBEscola, the flagship FC Barcelona football school aimed at girls and boys between 6 and 18 years of age

BUS STATION : Buses will now be able to park on the Barcelona campus on match days, without obstructing pedestrian walkways

ESTADI JOHAN CRUYFF : A new 6,000-seat capacity stadium at Barcelona's training facilities at Les Corts campus, 8.5km from Future Camp Nou. The stadium will be served by a surface parking facility with space for 700 vehicles

The trick is in the tech

Yoshiyuki Uchiyama, an architect who worked on the Future Camp Nou project, says that back when it was first constructed in the mid-50s, the designing process was completed using paper and pens. Since then, there has been huge developments in architectural design with building information modelling (BIM) and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Without any digital information about Camp Nou infrastructure, the design team had to rely on 3D camera scans of the building as a starting point.

“This was an excellent start, but it didn’t help us to know what element was a wall or a column and so a human still had to add those attributes onto our system,” says Uchiyama.

Once this information is added, the architects and engineers know the measurements, materials, safety requirements and a number of other details which can help them with the construction process.

Future Camp Nou

There are other technologies being used too; for the installation of lifts and escalators that will help the fans easily get to and from the second and third tiers, the design team used crowd-simulation technology. This helped them to understand how fast a visitor can get from their seat to the outside plaza, ensuring that the new stairs, lifts and escalators were located properly for safety and general ease of use.

The sustainability of the stadium has also been considered with new technologies including a rainwater harvesting system to water the pitch, and photovoltaic panels to help power floodlights. Meanwhile, the roof will use innovative fabrics with varying transparencies to ensure that there isn’t a strong shadow on the pitch – a nuisance for TV viewers when matches are played during the day.

With an eye to the future, Moix mentions the idea of automated vehicles in the years to come that can further improve the mobility to and from the stadium. This is what many designers believe football stadia will be like in ten or 20 years’ time – more than just about the sport, but about part of the city’s larger ecosystem.

Espai Barça has taken this on board with its idea to have experiences outside of the Future Nou Camp, along with shops, restaurants, a team store, museum and environmentally friendly parks.

Stadiums of the future will have advanced VR and AR enabling spectators to experience the match from multiple angles or different seats, while AI will manage the logistics of every aspect of a fans’ day out – from transport, to hospitality to additional fan experiences, FC Barcelona is taking the first steps in getting there.

LED BOARDS : Four state-of-the-art HD LED boards will be positioned around the roof edge, displaying video content, sponsorships and the match score

MEDIA WALLS : Displaying full-motion graphics and text messages, the new media walls will be used to engage crowds, enhancing the atmosphere of the match

Wi-Fi ACCESS POINTS : Already one of the most connected stadiums in the world, an increased number of access points combined with the open architectural style of Future Camp Nou will raise standards of connectivity within stadiums worldwide

DISTRIBUTED SOUND SYSTEMS : Speakers equipped with onboard electronics work together to distribute sound evenly and coherently through the stadium

LED PITCH LIGHTING AND THEATRICAL LIGHTING : Enhanced LED pitch lighting will improve broadcast images of the games, whilst theatrical light shows will be used to create an atmospheric experience for fans, before and after the game

Barcelona Reveal Revised Details On Project To Remodel Camp Nou

Building on previously revealed plans, Barcelona have now unveiled new renderings that progress the proposed development of the Camp Nou site.

Despite recent form and club turmoil, Barcelona are still one of the biggest and best clubs in the world, and they deserve a stadium that is fitting of that status. While Camp Nou is world renowned, a hallowed place within which some of the finest players ever to play theme have performed, it is also old and in need of a refit – one that would enable the club to compete financially with their rivals throughout Europe. It’s a plan that’s been on the cards for over half a decade now , the last update coming back in 2018 with seemingly little to no movement since, but now the club have released revised details of ‘Espai Barça’ –the project to remodel Camp Nou, build a new Palau Blaugrana and a Campus Barça – to make it viable and sustainable financially and to turn it into the biggest and most innovation sports and entertainment space within a European city.

barca 2-min.jpg

Most of the club's biggest competitors around Europe already have state-of-the-art stadiums or they are under construction. The modernisation of the Barça’s sporting facilities is a crucial project, but one that arguably comes more than 15 years too late, and is now of unavoidable urgency for the future feasibility of Barça. It is a vital project necessary to reflate the Club’s finances and maintain Barça at the forefront of world sport because only with facilities worthy of a Club like FC Barcelona can the organisation compete financially and on the field with their European competitors.

Espai Barça continues to be an unfulfilled dream after the members approved the project in a referendum back in 2014. Seven years later the Club has invested 145 million euros and only carried out 5 percent of the project. So seven years on and the original Espai Barça, the plan to modernise Camp Nou and the club’s sporting facilities, itself needs modernising, taking into account the latest technology and sustainability aspects. But it needs another referendum, which started on 17 October, had to be suspended, and is now set to be concluded on 23 October. Talk about long winded.

barca 4-min.jpg

As for the stadium itself, the updated plans retain the Mediterranean character with wide terraces that are typical of the Nikken Sekkei construction project , the Japanese studio that came out as winner in the international architecture competition. Updates to the proposal include the fact that the first tier would not be rebuilt, which would allow all season ticket holders there to retain their places, as well as moving the VIP boxes up to between the second and third tier and doubling their number. The capacity of 105,000 would not change under the new plans. If approved, the board are hoping to finance the required 1.5 billion euros, 900 million of which are reserved for the stadium, over a period of 35 years.

Camp Nou FAQ

Answers to your most frequently asked questions about the Camp Nou visit.

Yes, it is necessary to book the visit to Camp Nou as soon as possible. The number of tickets is limited for sanitary reasons (Covid19) but also to guarantee the comfort of the visitors. Our advice is to buy your ticket on this page as soon as you know the dates of your stay in Barcelona. However, you can also buy tickets at the stadium's ticket office, but you will have to wait in a queue and you will not be sure to get your ticket in the end.

The entrance for the Camp Nou visit closes one hour and a half before the official closing time of the whole site. This is the ideal time to visit the stadium and the museum. For example, if the official closing time is 7:30pm, you must arrive at 6pm to do the tour.

The average length of the visit to the Camp Nou - stadium and museum - is between 1h30 and 2h. None of the tours are time-limited, so you can stay as long as you like!

No, the price of the ticket at the stadium ticket office is higher than the ticket purchased online because it includes additional management fees. On the other hand, Camp Nou advises buying your ticket online in order to avoid queues depending on the availability of the different time slots.

Yes, you can show your Camp Nou tour ticket on your smartphone or tablet.

Unfortunately not. Once the "Camp Nou Experience" tickets have been issued, it will not be possible to postpone the visit, cancel it or get a refund.

The entrance to the Camp Nou Tour - stadium and museum - is in front of the FC Barcelona ice rink. The access is between the Barça Café and the Barça Store Camp Nou.

Yes and no, on match days, some of the Barça facilities are reserved for the match. The full tour or guided tours are not possible:

Please note: On Champions League days, this restriction extends from the day before as well as the price reduction applies.

Unfortunately you will not attend a training match of the Barcelona football club players during the visit of the Camp Nou. Since 2008 the training is no longer done at Camp Nou but at La Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper which is located in Sant Joan Despi, 8.5 kilometers from Camp Nou. These training sessions are not open to the public. The only way to meet the champions now is to go to the Mini Estadi around January 5 of each year, date on which the blaugranas train for the only time of the year in public. The entrance ticket is 10€. Ticket to be found on the spot that day. (Check the date of this match which may be moved due to Liga calendar).

The visit of the Camp Nou is not suitable for the people in wheelchair due to a very large number of stairs throughout the course. Nevertheless the museum with the trophy room, the historical frieze, the Messi space as well as the panoramic view of the stadium are wheelchair-friendly.

The club also offers a special service for the disabled - The Specialized Services Office (OAE) available on +34 902 1899 00

Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium Renovation on Track for June 2026 Opening

Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium is undergoing a significant reconstruction, with completion scheduled for June 2026 at a cost of €900 million. Despite initial plans for a 2/3 capacity opening in 2024, a full capacity of 90-95% is now expected for the 2025-26 season following delays and increased costs.

The renovation of Camp Nou is part of the larger Espai Barca project, estimated at €1.5 billion, aiming to revitalize the iconic stadium and its surroundings.

  • 1,200 workers currently employed on the Camp Nou reconstruction site.
  • €900 million allocated for the Camp Nou renovation project.

An ongoing investigation into unpaid overtime allegations among subcontractor employees on the site raises concerns despite Barcelona affirming the project is "on schedule.".

  • Workers progressing on the new third tier support at Camp Nou.
  • Temporary installations and shops aiming to maintain fan engagement during the revamp.
  • Barcelona's financial strain due to playing at a temporary venue, impacting attendance and revenue.

Completion of the Camp Nou renovation by June 2026 is anticipated, aiming to restore the stadium's allure and boost fan engagement.

The Camp Nou reconstruction project, while facing financial and timeline challenges, remains a pivotal endeavor to rejuvenate the iconic stadium and enhance the overall Barcelona fan experience.

Barcelona to play away from camp nou during stadium renovation.

BARCELONA, Spain -- Barcelona will play at another stadium for up to a year when the club starts its planned renovation of Camp Nou stadium, president Joan Laporta said Friday.

[ MORE: Barcelona audit shows club was technically bankrupt ] Laporta said that he wants to begin the long-delayed overhaul of Camp Nou in the summer of 2022. He added that the work will last three to four years, but that the team will only need to find another home for a maximum of 12 months.

“We are considering different possibilities, but the strongest candidate is the Johan Cruyff Stadium,” Laporta told Catalan radio Rac1 on Friday.

Johan Cruyff Stadium is where the women’s team plays and forms part of the club’s training complex on the outskirts of Barcelona.

With a capacity to seat only 6,000 spectators, Laporta said the club wants to increase that to 50,000 if the men’s team plays there.

[ MORE: USMNT 2-0 Jamaica: 3 things we learned | Player ratings ] Another option, Laporta said, would be for the team to play at the city’s Montjuic Stadium. The municipal facility hosted the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Summer Olympics and was home to Barcelona rival Espanyol for several years.

Camp Nou is already Europe’s largest soccer stadium with 99,000 seats. The club wants to increase its capacity to 110,000 while also refurbishing its surrounding area, which includes a pavilion for the club’s other sports, the museum and stores.

To finance the operation, Barcelona is in talks with Goldman Sachs for the investment bank to loan the cash-strapped club $1.74 billion. The financing plan needs to win a vote by the club’s members.

Goldman Sachs was heavily involved in the financing of Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium.

[ MORE: USMNT World Cup qualifying schedule ] Laporta inherited a club near bankruptcy when he won elections in March. He had also led the club from 2003-10.

"(The new Camp Nou) is fundamental for the viability of the club and its immediate future,” Laporta said. “The impact it will have for Barca is critical so that we can compete with our competitors who have already done what is needed.”

Real Madrid took advantage of last year’s pandemic lockdown, when no fans could attend matches in Spain, to spruce up its Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona’s plans to redo Camp Nou have met with several delays over the past decade.

Even when it’s not a game day, a visit to Camp Nou is always exciting. Get to know Barça’s history at the museum, get a custom FC Barcelona jersey with your name on it at the FCBotiga, and tread the same path football titans like Johan Cruyff, Maradona, and Messi walked through the players’ tunnel and onto the pitch of the stadium.

What is the Camp Nou and why should you visit it?

Camp Nou is the home of Football Club Barcelona, and the biggest stadium in Europe.

As one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport, the Camp Nou has seen great players like Kubala, Cruyff, Maradona, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Xavi, and Iniesta grace its pitch…

Not to mention the greatest of them all, Lionel Messi .

The stadium has over 98,000 seats, and it will soon be expanded up to 105,000 in an upcoming renovation.

The project is estimated to cost 600 million euros. You can see what it will look like in the following video:

If you’re a football fan visiting Barcelona you can’t miss the opportunity to visit one of the most storied football stadiums in the world.

Looking up into the stands from the players’ tunnel, you’ll see the same view many great players had before the whistle blew and the ball started rolling.

Plan your visit to Camp Nou

Would you like to go to a FC Barcelona match during your visit?

Check the program and find out when the home matches are, but keep in mind that the exact date and hour will not be confirmed until two weeks before the game.

You can still buy tickets further in advance, just be ready to be slightly flexible.

If you are planning on doing the Camp Nou Experience (the stadium + museum tour), know that on days that FC Barcelona plays at home, the museum remains open but certain parts of the stadium will be closed, such as the playing field and dressing rooms.

The tribune, which offers a fantastic view over the field, will close two hours before the match for visitors of the museum. So in order to not miss anything, check the program before your visit.

The tour lasts more or less one hour and a half.

Our personal tips

  • If you attend a match in the stadium, keep in mind that it can get quite chilly during the winter months, make sure you bring an extra sweater or blanket, and an umbrella is there’s a chance of rain. Most of the seating is not covered.
  • Bike to the stadium! From the centre it’s not far at all and you can park your bike easily and safely at the stadium. For the route, check ‘How to get to Camp Nou’ further down this article.
  • Forgot a supporter scarf? No worries, around the stadium you can buy all sorts of Barça stuff. If you prefer to buy it in advance, you can do so at various locations in the city centre.

Tickets for matches and the Camp Nou Experience

With a ticket for the Camp Nou Experience you can explore Camp Nou on your own, taking all the time you need.

You will have access to the FC Barcelona museum, the stadium (including the changing rooms for visiting teams, players tunnel and tribunes), and the multimedia zone.

You can buy tickets for the Camp Nou Experience at the ticket box of the museum, but if you order them in advance online you get a €2.50 discount.

After the purchase you will receive a voucher via email which you can use to pick up your tickets at the Camp Nou when you arrive.

The standard Camp Nou Experience is self-guided, but there is an audio guide available with a lot of interesting information on FC Barcelona, the Camp Nou and the Museum.

For Messi fans, there is the so called Leo Messi Tour, which gives unique insights into Messi’s life and story at the club.

Going to a FC Barcelona game

Many visitors come to Barcelona especially to attend an FC Barcelona match.

There are several locations throughout the city where you can purchase tickets, but the price is generally higher than buying them online.

One website that is very reliable is Viagogo, which allows you to select from multiple tiers of seating from all areas of the stadium.

Keep in mind: the further away from the pitch, the cheaper the tickets, but the less you can see — Camp Nou is much bigger than most other football stadiums so if you get seats near the top you’ll be really high up.

Practical information

Tour tickets and prices.

  • Adults: €25.
  • Children until the age of 13 and 70+ seniors: €20 (20% discount)
  • Children under 6: free.

Game ticket prices for FC Barcelona depend on the quality of the opponent.

Generally speaking, the better/more famous the opposing team, the more expensive tickets will be.

Matches against Real Madrid always sell out and good tickets can cost hundreds of euros, while a regular league game against a team like Eibar or Málaga you’ll be able to find plenty of tickets for under €100.

If you manage to get a seat for 50 euros, you have a good deal.

Insider tip: Every Barça game has the potential to be magical, but if you want to experience a special atmosphere try going to a game against Español or Athletic de Bilbao.

Español is Barcelona’s city rival, and the atmosphere whenever these two teams play is electric.

Athletic de Bilbao is a quasi-rival and a good team that always plays hard against Barcelona.

Tickets to these two games will be cheaper than a Barça-Madrid, but the experience will better than most other La Liga matches.

  • Apr to Sep: 9.30 am — to 7.30 pm
  • Oct to Mar: 9.30 am to 6.30 pm
  • Sundays and holidays: 9.30 am to 2.30 pm

You can visit Camp Nou every day of the year except for December 25 and January 1st.

Important note: on game days and the day before Champions League matches (which are played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) there is limited access to the stadium and museum.

It’s best to check the official site of FC Barcelona and find out whether the museum and stadium is accessible.

How to get to Camp Nou?

Camp Nou’s address is Carrer d’Aristides Maillol, 12, 08028 Barcelona, Spain . The stadium has abundant parking space, but unless you’re a “socio” (a club member) it may be difficult to access. If you’re driving, just input the stadium’s name into your GPS and it will give you the best route and location.

  • Metro: It’s easy to reach Camp Nou by metro. The two nearest stops are Badal and Collblanc, both on the blue line (Line 5). The stadium is a 5 minute walk from the either, and there are signs on the street that tell you how to get there. You can get the blue line at Sagrada Familia, Diagonal, or at Sants Estació.If you are heading to Camp Nou from the center, you should take the green line (Line 3) and get off at Maria Cristina or Palau Reial, both of which are 5 to 10 minutes from the stadium. You can get the green line at Passeig de Gracia, Plaça Catalunya, or Liceu.
  • By bike: From the center (Plaça Catalunya) it will take you 30-45 minutes to get to Camp Nou. The fastest and best route is the following: bike from Plaça Catalunya to Rambla de Catalunya (on the corner you will see the clothing shop Desigual). Bike uphill until you reach the busy street Avinguda Diagonal. Cross Diagonal and take the bicycle lane on this avenue to the left. From here head straight until you get to Palau Reial. Cross the Diagonal and take the Carrer de Martí i Franquès downhill and you’ll see the stadium ahead.

What to see and do during your visit to Camp Nou?

These are the most important highlights in and near Camp Nou, the museum and the stadium are included in your ticket for Camp Nou Experience:

Museu FC Barcelona President Nuñez

FC Barcelona doesn’t just own the biggest stadium, it also has the best club museum in the world.

The pictures, paintings and trophies attract more people than any other museum in Barcelona: between 1 and 2 million visitors every year.

At the museum you’ll learn everything there is to know about the club: the dozens of trophies it has won, its most famous historical players, the individual accolades collected by its stars, and many other interesting things.

The Stadium

Camp nou pitch with fc barcelona logo

The Camp Nou Experience gives you access to the titular stadium. Such a storied location as Camp Nou has many interesting places to see and explore:

  • The press room where players and trainers give press conferences before and after a game.
  • The changing room of the visiting team.
  • The presidential box. The part of the tribune where ‘friends of the club’ watch the game. These are often politicians, important sponsors or former players.
  • The playing field. The field where games are being played is fenced off with railings, but you can walk around the edges of the pitch.
  • You can also sit in the Barça dugout and see the pitch and the stadium from the perspective of the coaches and players.

For the real fans: you can actually buy a piece of Barça grass!

La FCBotiga – The FC Barcelona Shop

You can find official FC Barcelona stores and loads of shops selling merchandise throughout the city, but the FCBotiga at Camp Nou is something else — a Barça megastore.

Besides the usual souvenirs and Barça jerseys, which you can customize with your name on the back, you can also find rarer items like old vintage t-shirts that are not stocked anywhere else.

Near Camp Nou, on Carrer de la Maternitat, is the old football school where hundreds of young players have trained since 1979.

Xavi Hernández, Lionel Messi and Andrés Iniesta, as well as many other famous Barcelona players, spent their formative years here.

In 2011 the FC Barcelona youth school moved to the training complex Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, in the village of Sant Joan Despí, just outside of Barcelona.

The former academy building is not to the public but you can see it from the outside. No ticket is needed.

The ice skating rink

For the ones who prefer a little action while your fellow travellers enjoy themselves at Camp Nou, there is the ice skating rink.

The rink is used for figure skating and ice hockey, but anyone is allowed to skate there during visitor times.

Opening hours: Monday-Thursday from 10am-2pm and 5pm-8pm, Saturday & Sunday from 11am-2pm and 5.30pm-8.30pm.

The skate rink is next to Camp Nou. Note that gloves are compulsory and children under 13 have to wear a helmet. The entrance is €13,40 and this includes skates. Gloves cost €3.00 and a helmet also €3.00. You can buy your tickets at the door.

History of Camp Nou

After many years of use, Barça’s previous stadium “El Camp de Les Corts” had become too small to fit all the club’s fans. To remedy this the club began construction of Camp Nou in 1954.

It was completed in three years, and officially inaugurated on September 24th 1957, during Barcelona’s local holiday La Mercè.

The first match that took place in the new stadium was against the Polish team Warschau. FC Barcelona won the game with a 4-2 score, in what would be first of hundreds more victories that would come over the following years.

At first, there was room for 93.053 supporters, but the stadium’s capacity has been expanded with an additional 6000 seats since then. The cost of construction was 288,088,143 pesetas (over 1.7 million euros).

Aside from football, the Camp Nou also used to be a concert venue. Nowadays it no longer holds concerts, but in years passed world-famous artists such as Michael Jackson, Julio Iglesias and U2 performed in the stadium to crowds of tens of thousands of people.

The President Nuñez museum, named after the former club president Josep Lluís Núñez, was opened in 1984.

The idea for a FC Barcelona museum dates back to the nineteen twenties, but it took sixty years for it to actually be built.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “camp nou” mean.

Camp Nou translates to “New Stadium”. Originally, the stadium was called “Estadi del FC Barcelona” –Stadium of FC Barcelona–, but the fans always called it Camp Nou. The club decided to hold a vote on the issue, and the members overwhelmingly voted for Camp Nou, so the stadium’s nickname became its official name.

Are there discounts on Camp Nou tour tickets?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Certain groups can purchase tickets at a lower rate (children, students, seniors), but there are no special discounted tickets to visit the Camp Nou.

Is it worth it to reserve tickets in advance?

You can buy tour tickets when you arrive at the stadium, but the queues can be quite lengthy so we recommend you book online in advance. If you pre-book you’ll get to skip the line at the ticket office.

Spotify Camp Nou project going to plan

Spotify Camp Nou project going to plan

The work on Spotify Camp Nou is progressing well and has entered a new stage. Speaking at the Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, FC Barcelona vice-president Elena Fort said "we still have a long way to go, but we are well under way."

Fort reviewed all the work the club has done since signing the agreement with Barcelona City Council and B:SM for the move to the Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys until November 2024. The third tier had already been demolished during the period when La Liga was paused for the World Cup last year, and then construction contracts were signed for both Spotify Camp Nou and Montjuïc, and the Barça Immersive Tour opened its doors in June, which she insists "is a very important project for everyone at the club, a groundbreaking museum that will be the basis of the future Spotify Camp Nou and that helps us to tell our story to everyone who comes to visit us."

As for the schedule for the Espai Barça, the vice-president explained that as of today "we can assure you that we have all the permits to be able to start the final works and to be able to finish the stadium". She thanked Barcelona City Council for all their support with getting the licence approved, the result of the joint efforts with municipal experts and the Espai Barça team. Likewise, with the demolitions already practically completed, the bulk of the work will proceed with the development of the foundations, as well as the construction of the new third tier, including the two hospitality rings.

"In November 2024 we will return to Spotify Camp Nou with an approximate capacity of 65,000 spectators between the first and second tiers, with 50% of the VIP capacity and the definitive museum open. The bulk of all the work will be carried out in 2024, including the core main structure and the roof."

Positive experience at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

As for the temporary transfer to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, Fort is very positive, with fans "filling the stadium, and for us it is essential that it is full to support the team". She also made it clear that the team and coaching staff are very happy too. As part of the transfer of use of the facility agreed with Barcelona City Council through the company Barcelona de Serveis Municipal (BSM), manager of the Olympic Stadium, the club had to carry out works to adapt the stadium to the club's needs and to the requirements of La Liga and UEFA.

Spaces that have particularly undergone transformation are the hospitality rooms, the ticket office, the press boxes, the changing rooms and the pitch, as well as aspects related to drainage, irrigation and the water treatment system, including a new water tank, as well as all the broadcasting systems.

Updating the census

The vice-president also seized the opportunity to remind listeners of the importance of updating their membership records, which is absolutely necessary in view of the modernisation that the club envisages and new operations at of Espai Barça. "It is very important to have a census that is real so that the operation of returning to the Spotify Camp Nou in November 2024 will be easier."

The updated census agreed by the Board of Directors a few months ago with the main objective of streamlining the control of members and having a truly accurate record of the club's members.
