  • Page 139 Driving Drive cautiously to avoid vehicle damage from concealed objects such as rocks and stumps. You should either know the terrain or examine maps of the area before driving. Map out your route before driving in the area. To maintain steering and braking control of your vehicle, you must have all four wheels on the ground and they must be rolling, not sliding or spinning.
  • Page 140 Driving If your vehicle gets stuck If your vehicle gets stuck in mud or snow it may be rocked out by shifting between forward and reverse gears, stopping between shifts, in a steady pattern. Press lightly on the accelerator in each gear. Do not rock the vehicle if the engine is not at normal operating temperature or damage to the transmission may occur.
  • Page 141 Driving Vehicles with a higher center of gravity such as utility and four-wheel drive vehicles handle differently than vehicles with a lower center of gravity. Utility and four-wheel drive vehicles are not designed for cornering at speeds as high as passenger cars any more than low-slung sports cars are designed to perform satisfactorily under off-road conditions.

Page 203: Fuel Information

  • Page 204 Maintenance and Specifications Automotive fuels can cause serious injury or death if misused or mishandled. Gasoline may contain benzene, which is a cancer-causing agent. Observe the following guidelines when handling automotive fuel: • Extinguish all smoking materials and any open flames before fueling your vehicle.
  • Page 205 Maintenance and Specifications When refueling always shut the engine off and never allow sparks or open flames near the filler neck. Never smoke while refueling. Fuel vapor is extremely hazardous under certain conditions. Care should be taken to avoid inhaling excess fumes. The flow of fuel through a fuel pump nozzle can produce static electricity, which can cause a fire if fuel is pumped into an ungrounded fuel container.
  • Page 206 Maintenance and Specifications be void for any damage to the fuel tank or fuel system if the correct genuine Ford or Motorcraft fuel filler cap is not used. Regular maintenance is necessary for every car. How often the car needs maintenance and what exactly needs to be done can be found in the maintenance instructions. For major periodic service, this should generally be done every 2 years or after 30,000 kilometres.

When should I change the brake fluid of my Ford?

It is recommended to change the brake fluid every two years.

What is the difference between E10 and E5 petrol?

My car radio does not turn on, now what?

How can I properly operate and maintain the diesel-powered version of the Ford Excursion?

To properly operate and maintain the diesel-powered version of the Ford Excursion (2003), follow these steps: 1. Read the 7.3 Liter Power Stroke Direct Injection Turbo Diesel Owner's Guide Supplement: This supplement provides specific information on the correct operation and maintenance of your diesel-powered Excursion. It covers important details that are specific to the diesel engine. 2. Understand the differences from passenger cars: The Excursion is not a passenger car, but a utility vehicle. It is important to recognize this and operate the vehicle accordingly. Failure to do so may result in loss of control or accidents. 3. Avoid snowplow installation: The Excursion is not recommended for snowplow installation. Ford does not guarantee its suitability for snowplowing due to factors such as weight limits, airbag deployment sensitivity, crash integrity, and powertrain durability. The Snowplow Package Option is not available. 4. Refer to the Middle East/North Africa supplement: If you are in the Middle East/North Africa region, your Excursion may have features and options that differ from those described in the Owner's Guide. Use the provided supplement to identify unique features, recommendations, and specifications for your vehicle. Remember to consult the Owner's Guide for all other necessary information and warnings related to operating and maintaining your Ford Excursion (2003) diesel-powered vehicle.

What should I be aware of when driving a pickup truck or utility type vehicle like the Ford Excursion?

When driving a pickup truck or utility type vehicle like the Ford Excursion (2003), there are several important things to be aware of: 1. Higher rollover rate: Utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate compared to other types of vehicles. It is crucial to understand that in a rollover crash, an unbelted person is significantly more likely to be fatally injured than a person wearing a seat belt. 2. Handling differences: Utility and four-wheel drive vehicles, including the Excursion, have a higher center of gravity than passenger cars. This means they handle differently, especially when it comes to cornering at high speeds. It is important to avoid sharp turns, excessive speed, and abrupt maneuvers to reduce the risk of vehicle rollover, personal injury, and death. 3. Loaded vehicle precautions: Loaded vehicles, with a higher center of gravity, may handle differently than unloaded vehicles. Take extra precautions such as driving at slower speeds and increasing stopping distance when driving a heavily loaded vehicle. 4. Weight limitations: Always ensure that the weight of occupants, cargo, and equipment being carried is within the weight limitations established for your vehicle. Exceeding these limitations can result in serious damage to the vehicle and personal injury. 5. Calculating load capacity: If you plan to haul cargo or tow a trailer, use the appropriate maximum gross combined weight rating (GCWR) chart to determine the maximum weight your vehicle can handle. Weigh your vehicle without cargo and subtract the loaded vehicle weight from the maximum GCWR to determine the maximum trailer weight your vehicle can tow. By following these guidelines, you can safely operate and drive your Ford Excursion (2003) pickup truck or utility type vehicle.

Can I install a snowplow on the Ford Excursion?

Installing a snowplow on the Ford Excursion (2003) is not recommended. According to the manual, Ford does not guarantee the suitability of the Excursion for snowplowing. There are several factors to consider: 1. Weight limits: Installing a snowplow can exceed the vehicle's weight limits, which may affect its performance and safety. 2. Airbag deployment sensitivity: The installation of a snowplow can potentially impact the sensitivity of the airbag deployment system, compromising the vehicle's safety features. 3. Vehicle crash integrity: The addition of a snowplow can affect the crash integrity of the vehicle, potentially compromising its ability to protect occupants in the event of a collision. 4. Powertrain durability: Snowplowing puts additional strain on the vehicle's powertrain, potentially leading to premature wear and damage. Given these considerations, it is advised not to install a snowplow on the Ford Excursion (2003). It is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure the safe and optimal operation of the vehicle.

It contains information such as the world manufacturer identifier, brake type and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), vehicle line, series, body type, engine type, check digit, model year, assembly plant, and production sequence number. 2. Engine number: The engine number, which is the last eight numbers of the VIN, is stamped on the engine block, transmission, frame, and transfer case (if equipped). 3. 2003 Ford Excursion -11 Passenger!- Eddie Bauer Sport Utility 4-door 6.0l on 2040-cars

Moscow, Idaho, United States

Moscow, Idaho, United States

This is a private party sale of our 2003 4x4 6.0 Diesel, 11 Passenger Eddie Bauer Ford Excursion with 155,000 miles We recently had half of the injectors replaced and everything works perfectly. These 6.0's are great except for the injectors, which if you have to do them are costly. Thankfully we just did them for you! Just look at all the listings on here for this same truck with 250k+ on Ebay, this is an amazing vehicle. We added a custom DOT approved 4th row seat that brings the passenger count to 11. (Yes it goes to 11).  It also comes with our extra set of excursion specific wheels for snow tires, so you don't have to pay to have your winter tires switched between rims every season. Has the factory tow package plus added trailer brakes with multi-port trailer connectors. Comes with an SCT tuner and installed chip. This allows you to boost mileage or performance depending on your application. We have used it to get better mileage (diesels are already better than gassers, but this brings it up even higher). We have only used the truck to tow a couple times, but the truck barely notices when a boat or trailer is attached, lots and lots of power. Has newer brakes and ball joints. Features: 4-Wheel Drive (Low and High) 4-Wheel ABS DVD Heated Seats Heated Mirrors (with built-in turn signals) Backup Sensors 2nd Row Bench 3rd Row Bench 4th Row Bench (Custom installed DOT approved rear facing seat) Almost new 80,000 mile Michelin tires (Costco - about 3,000 miles on them) 4 extra rims for snow tires Full set of Excursion weather mats (in trunk also) Towing Package - plus trailer brakes (with mulit-port for most any trailer connection) If you've been looking to get a 10 passenger or 12 passenger van, but don't like the look or lack of safety or the lack of a reasonable 4x4 option, then this is a great alternative. We have six kids and this has accommodated our family perfectly, allowing us to take our kids and their friends to school or on trips. It's also nice to have the DVD player and rear heat/AC controls. With the full set of weather mats (that can hold a tremendous amount of liquid) It's great for snowy days or beach days or muddy days. The leather is also great for kids, since they clear right off.

Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile. Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride. After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

Ford evaluating new Fiesta RS?

Word coming in from across the pond has it that Ford is working on developing the business case to create a new Fiesta RS. The development is encouraged by the extremely positive reception the existing Fiesta ST has garnered to date, and the emergence of the above-pictured Fiesta RS WRC rally car, but it'll take more than goodwill to make a more extreme version a reality. According to Auto Express, a new roadgoing Fiesta RS would almost certainly be based closely on the ST version, albeit with some vital differences. Its 1.6-liter turbo four would be increased from 180 horsepower to somewhere around 230 hp, and that powertrain would be accompanied by lightweight alloys inside blistered wheel arches, a stripped-out interior and possibly lightweight bodywork. The vehicle's approval would reportedly require a strong business case in Europe, and not just in the UK where Ford hot hatches traditionally enjoy a strong following. It's unclear whether the Fiesta RS would potentially make the transatlantic voyage to American showrooms, but between it and the larger Focus RS, hopefully the Blue Oval wouldn't leave its home market out of the action altogether.

Ford Escort returns, just not for US

Ford is set to give the burgeoning Chinese market its very own C-segment model, while also reviving one of the brand's more notable nameplates. The new Escort, which will make its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show will be built in the People's Republic at the Changan Ford joint venture facility. The Escort's exterior is best thought of as a mix of the finer points from the US market Focus and Fusion, with the Aston Martin-ish grille and narrow, wraparound taillights presenting a clean look at either end of the car. It's all fairly true to the concept car from last year's Shanghai Motor Show. That said, this exterior job is almost too clean. There doesn't seem to be a lot of character or substance beyond the typical Ford looks. There's a similar issue in the cabin - it all looks pretty nice, but the design is rather plain, particularly when viewed alongside the display-filled cabin of a US-spec car. Still, there looks to be a fair amount of space in both the front and back seats, and the trunk isn't exactly tiny, either.
