Mull and Iona trip

This trip was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. We picked up our tickets without problem from prompt and efficient staff. The trip across Mull was fascinating and made even more enjoyable through the commentary of Sheila, who is not only very knowledgeable and informative but hilarious to listen to. She was definitely better than Katrina the audio guide on the bus back. Mull is beautiful but Iona was spectacular and we were blessed with sunny weather. A magical day made better by your excellent staff. Big up for Sheila and Colin

Thank you for taking the time to give us such excellent feedback. It sounds like you had a fantastic time. I'm glad the weather treated you well (Scotland is of course notorious for showers). I'm delighted our staff made your trip extra special. We hope to welcome you on a tour again soon.

Did the 3 isles tour of Staffa, Iona, and Mull. Very enjoyable way to spend a full day. Only disappointment was not being able to go into Fingals Cave on Staffa - can only now get to the entrance (in fairness we did know this before we sailed). Special shout out to Chris the coach driver on Mull. He gave an interesting and informative commentary on a wide range of things associated with the island. His delivery was great and extremely amusing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and give us great feedback. I'm delighted you enjoyed the tour. Our coach drivers are full of local knowledge, history and stories about the Isle of Mull and are always a favourite among our customers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Early Bird Tour, booked through Staffa Tours, to visit Mull, Staffa & Iona. Each island was unique and beautiful. I recommend eating a large breakfast or on the ferry out as lunch may be a long time away. They aren't kidding when the say you need to pick up the tickets ahead, leaving it to the morning of was stressful as there was a line and the large ferry was going to leave with or without you. The number of tickets needed seemed daunting but the process was very well-run and easy to follow. In order to see the sites, a significant amount of walking/hiking was required and if weather conditions were as usual in Scotland, a bit slippery at times. This didn't bother us, we welcomed the exercise, but I did feel badly for many of the tour who were unable to get everywhere physically. We saw puffins and Fingal's Cave was truly amazing on Staffa. The water, sandy beaches, and ruins on Iona were stunning. The narrated bus tour of Mull was beautiful, showing off Scotland's fine and contrasting landscape of lochs and mountains. Well worth the full day tour!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and giving us a fantastic 5* review. It sounds like you had a great day. We recommend you pick up your tickets from our Oban shop the day before your tour wherever possible. You've provided lots of great advice which I'm sure other customers will find very helpful. We hope to welcome you on another tour soon.

On the way from craignure to Tobermory our coach was very quiet. However the return service at 3.50pm on a Sunday was overfilled, and around 10 passengers couldn’t get on, me being one of them. The next bus was 6pm meaning we would miss our dinner reservations in Oban, and so the driver phoned another driver to see what he could do. Another driver who lived locally came to collect us all on his day off in a minibus to ensure we’d make the ferry. And we did! Thanks graham for putting your foot down, and Michael for making it happen. Excellent service!

Thank you for your 5* review and your kind words. Our team are locals and often go above and beyond to provide an excellent and memorable experience for customers. I'll be sure to pass your feedback on to our team on Mull.

Fantastic tour with ferries and buses perfectly timed. Bus driver was excellent and had lots of helpful and interesting local knowledge. We visited Mull and Iona and absolutely loved it. I think this tour is excellent value for money.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. It sounds like you had a great day! We work with CalMac Ferries and Staffa Tours to ensure our customers have a seamless experience.

Excellent trip. Great value too. The really knowledgeable coach driver made the trip for me. Lots of information as we drove over Mull - saw lots of things I would have missed! Iona as beautiful as ever. Nice coach, comfortable and clean - Thanks for a good day out.

Thank you for your 5* review, I'm delighted you enjoyed our Mull and Iona tour. Our driver's are truly a wealth of information about Mull and make the trip through the island entertaining and informative. We hope to welcome you on another tour again soon.

Great tour to Staffa and Iona

We took the early bird our over to Staffa and Iona on a rather windy and wet day but we enjoyed it. The trip to Staffa was exhilarating especially on the way back: we got wet from the spray coming over the side of the boat! Staffa was all I expected it to be but not for anyone uncertain on their legs. The trip to Iona was a good taster and I really felt I wanted more time there without the wind which was quite strong by then. But I cannot fault the tour company the travel arrangements worked without problem and they provided the opportunity to visit places I have long wanted to visit. I also felt that the experience on Staffa brought out the best in the travellers who help other along the uncertain path to Fingal's cave.

Thanks so much for your 5 star review!

West Coast Tours does a great job with this tour, we did the early bird tour. Not having to drive the road from Craignure to Fionnphort was especially nice because it’s all single track with quite a bit of traffic and buses, it would have worn me out. We really liked how adaptable the Staffa Tours folks were as the weather was lousy but there was a chance of improvement in the afternoon so they took us to Iona first rather than the original plan of Staffa first. Sure enough, the weather improved enough to head the Staffa which was remarkable! Overall, a fantastic day!

Thanks so much for your lovely review!

Went to Oban on September 18th the day before my Birthday. I'd booked the Three Isles tour which included Iona for the 19th. I'd always wanted to visit Iona and my 70th birthday seemed a good time to do it. On the evening of the 18th I received an email informing me the tour was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. My wife emailed the company and told them I was gutted and would it be possible to get on another tour which took in Iona. Maureen Cormack emailed the next morning at 7.13, which I presume is outside normal working hours, to inform me she'd got us on a tour for that day! She saved my birthday and indeed our whole trip! Just one minor detail, for last minute changes like that I think a phone call would help as I only looked at my emails an hour before we were due to leave! Still we had a fabulous day, the tour was extremely well organised and ran like clockwork. Thanks again to Maureen!

Thanks so much for your lovely review, so glad it all worked out in the end and we will pass on your thanks to Maureen.

The WCT Three Island Tour covers Mull, Staffa, and Iona. From Oban you ferry to Mull and pick up your coach. Long drive through Mull. Our coach driver was a cheerful man from Kent but he knew his tour 100% and was very informative, pointing out everything interesting along the route and keeping us entertained. After this leg we transferred to a small boat and on to Staffa. We saw dolphins and seals. Then on to Iona, and finally back to catch another ferry back to Oban. It is a LONG day, not returning until about 8.30pm. But very enjoyable and wonderful scenery. Dress for the weather and bring snacks and water. Oh yes, no toilets on Staffa but the boat had a basic one below decks. The Americans did not seem too enthusiastic about it. 😄😄 But, this tour is excellent.

Thanks so much for your 5 star review.

The Wildlife Tour was absolutely AMAZING! Seeing all of the puffins on Lunga was the highlight of our whole trip to Scotland. We could have spent DAYS watching the puffins. Visiting the unique geological formations of Staffa was breathtaking. It was easy to get aboard all of the buses and ferries you took from each island. I will caution anyone with mobility issues or small children to be especially careful if taking this tour. There are NO guard rails next to the cliffs and a lady on our tour did fall down a cliff. Luckily there were other people on the tour nearby to assist her back to safety, but it was a terrifying experience. Even with that scare, this tour was a highlight of our trip and we would definitely recommend anyone visiting Scotland to take this tour.

Many thanks for your 5-star review, we will most definitely take your feedback onboard.

The Wildlife tour was incredible and worth every penny! The organisation was fantastic and the whole day ran like clockwork! Of course the puffins stole the show but Fingal's cave, rock formations, stunning scenery of all the islands and the hard working staff on the boats made for a special but long day! A special mention must go to our coach driver Adrian who was informative, amusing, entertaining and took very good care of us with his safe driving on the winding roads! He is a credit to the company. We highly recommend this tour!

Thanks so much for you 5 star review. We will most certainly pass on your comments to Adrian, we also love his commentary :).

Isle of Iona Tours

Tours to the isle of iona.

We reach the tiny, sacred Isle of Iona by a 10-minute ferry. Crossing over azure waters from the Isle of Mull. It’s been a place of Christian worship and pilgrimage ever since St Columba and his companions came from Ireland. They established a monastery here in 563 AD.

You can visit this special island with us on our four day small group tours to Mull, Iona and the Highlands and on our six day island hopping tours to Mull, Iona, Skye, the Highlands and Loch Ness. All of these tours leave from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Visitor vehicles are not permitted on the Isle of Iona. You’ll therefore travel on the ferry as a foot passenger. This only adds to its tranquillity.

Visit Iona Abbey , still a place of worship, and take a stroll up the small hill above it, Torr an Aba, where St Columba’s writing hut is thought to have stood. You can encounter St Oran’s Chapel and Reilig Òdhrain. It’s said to be the burial place of 48 ancient kings of Scotland, including Macbeth.

It’s worth rambling to the Iona’s highest point at Dun I for panoramic views to other Hebridean islands such as Tiree, Coll and the Treshnish Islands. On a really clear day you’ll glimpse Rhum, Eigg and Skye and even the Irish coast.

While in Iona, why not take a sip from the Well of Eternal Youth, believed to hold the blessing of St Brigid of Ireland.

As you arrive back on Mull from your Isle of Iona Tour you’ll feel restored and at peace.

An Multi-Day Vacation Package to Oban, Mull and Iona

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the West Coast of Scotland through our immersive multi-day tour. This unique journey will take you to three of Scotland’s most captivating destinations – Oban, Mull, and Iona.

Oban, often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, holds the distinction of being the seafood capital of Scotland. It offers an intriguing mix of rich heritage and gastronomic delight. Its bustling harbour serves as a gateway to the enchanting islands of Mull and Iona.

Visitors are often enticed by the freshest seafood delicacies straight from the ocean to the plate. Make sure to taste the local speciality – succulent langoustines and plump scallops, which are the epitome of Scotland’s seafood fare.

Visit Scotland's West Coast

Just a short ferry ride from Oban, you’ll discover the rugged beauty of Mull, the second-largest island of the Inner Hebrides. Mull captivates its visitors with its diverse landscapes ranging from towering mountains to dramatic sea cliffs, and serene sandy beaches.

The island is home to a rich array of wildlife, including white-tailed eagles, otters, and seals, providing ample opportunities for nature lovers to immerse themselves in Scotland’s untamed wilderness.

Mull also boasts enchanting coastal villages, such as Tobermory, with its brightly coloured buildings providing a striking contrast against the natural hues of the landscape.

The tour’s pièce de résistance is the sacred Isle of Iona. Located off the southwest coast of Mull, this small island is steeped in Christian history and is known as a tranquil sanctuary for spiritual reflection.

Its clear, turquoise waters offer a mesmerizing view, providing a serene backdrop to the island’s historic landmarks.

The centrepiece of these is undoubtedly the Iona Abbey, an iconic structure with roots stretching back to the 6th century.

As we journey through these remarkable destinations, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the diverse character of Scotland’s West Coast, experiencing firsthand the natural splendours, the vibrant local culture, and the rich historical legacy that makes this region such a wonderful travel destination.
