The trip with Zicasso’s tour operator was truly unforgettable. From the moment we booked with them to the very last day of our vacation, everything was seamlessly organized and executed. The attention to detail was impeccable, ensuring we could relax and fully immerse ourselves in the beauty and culture of Vietnam and Thailand without any worries. The itinerary they crafted for us was well-balanced, offering a perfect mix of sightseeing, cultural experiences, and relaxation. The accommodations were luxurious and exceeded our expectations, providing a comfortable retreat after each day's adventures. The tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly, enriching our experiences with their insights and local expertise. They made sure we didn't miss out on any hidden gems and helped us navigate through each destination effortlessly. Overall, our travel company exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a premium travel experience in Asia. Their attention to detail, personalized service, and dedication to customer satisfaction truly set them apart.

I enjoyed working with Zicasso’s tour company. They were very responsive to my request and planned the perfect itinerary for my family. All the day tours and the guides were highly experienced and a lot of fun to spend time with. The elephant sanctuary was clearly a highlight, as were both boat tours of the amazing islands off Phuket. All the hotel accommodations and services were top-notch. We especially enjoyed the restaurant recommendations in each area. The trip app was very helpful and we appreciated the daily communication and document sharing of boarding passes. Overall, we truly enjoyed our first visit to Thailand. It is a very beautiful country, but more importantly, we found its people very friendly and welcoming. This was my fifth trip using Zicasso and they have never disappointed me or my grandchildren, who have accompanied me each time. They introduced me to our travel company and fulfilled all our needs and beyond.

My husband and I booked our honeymoon in Thailand with Zicasso's travel agency. We worked with our travel agent to plan it and the itinerary was incredible! I barely had to do anything. He booked all of our activities, hotels, and transfers. Transportation: We went to four locations (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and Krabi) and each time we traveled internally, a guide would drop us off and pick us up. Truly door-to-door service! We also had a private guide and driver for each of our planned activities. Our domestic travel was so incredibly easy and we were super lucky to have all of them be on time and seamless! Our tour operator monitored all the flights and before our honeymoon, made sure to update a couple whose times had changed to ensure we got to our destinations with enough time. Activities: We wanted our honeymoon to be equal parts adventure and relaxation. We spent the first half of our trip in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. We toured temples, did a street food tour, took a day trip to a floating market, spent a day learning to cook with a local family, spent a day with rescue elephants, and visited a gorgeous national park, to name a few things. All were private tours with private guides! A shout-out to our amazing guides in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. We then spent intentionally unstructured time at the beaches of Koh Samui and Krabi (I’d recommend Krabi over Koh Samui (I was the one who added Koh Samui to the itinerary, but should have listened to our travel agent!). Krabi was so perfect for a honeymoon. Accommodations: All were five stars and beautiful! We had cute honeymoon welcome gifts everywhere we went. In summary, it was so worth working with our travel team to plan a stress-free honeymoon. We had an incredible time and couldn’t have loved it more!

Although frequent travelers, this was our first trip to Asia. We greatly wanted to visit Thailand, but were uncertain how to proceed in planning our trip. Through Zicasso, we came into contact with our travel agent. We had great conversations with him about our interests, what we were hoping to experience in Thailand, and our travel style. He put together an initial travel itinerary, which we subsequently modified in follow-up conversations. Our agent was great to work with and we felt very involved in the process of setting up our trip. We have now returned from the trip and it was wonderful, or as my wife keeps telling people, magical. The attention to detail was impressive. The accommodations were first-rate. Travel occurred as planned, with air and land travel within Thailand going without a hitch. My wife has food allergies and was very concerned about how she would manage in Thailand. Our agent made sure our hotels and excursion providers were well informed of her dietary restrictions ahead of time and she was able to relax and enjoy herself without worry. As an example, when we went to the breakfast buffet at our hotel in Bangkok, a staff member approached us and went over their buffet, telling my wife which dishes to avoid. The best part of our trip was our guide. He was a wonderful person who took great joy in sharing his vast knowledge of Thailand with us. The excursions we took were enriched by his presence. Our agent was readily available to answer any questions we had as our travels progressed. We felt that his company’s resources were available to us throughout our travels and that he had our backs. I would like to emphasize that we were extremely pleased with the company and are highly recommending them as we recount our trip with friends and family. I would not hesitate to work with them again in planning future travels.

Our family of four traveled to Japan, visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and the Hakone area. The Zicasso travel agency put together great properties. We loved the locations of each and their amenities. We had excellent seats on the bullet train. Our driver and tour guide in Kyoto were outstanding! We felt there was definitely a communication misstep with our plans for Tokyo however. Our driver/guide was very lovely, but not very definitive on what we were doing each day. We felt we had communicated with the driver and the travel company as to what we wanted to do, but for example, when we went to do our food tour of Tokyo, it was paired with a visit to the fish market. We asked if the food tour was after the market, to which our guide said yes. However, about two hours into the fish market we realized that was his idea of the food tour. There was no specific plan of what we were to try and no explanation of the items. Instead, we walked around and bought a few things we wanted to try. We shared everything as we were saving room for the food tour that really never happened. It was frustrating as we felt our guide was more of a driver and less of a guide. Communication was definitely a factor, which is why we hired the travel agency.

We had a very interesting 18-day trip to Laos and Vietnam in February. We worked closely with our Zicasso tour operator to plan a customized trip that included a number of stops and different experiences. We started in Laos, with the monasteries, waterfall/hiking, cooking classes in Luang Prabang, and outdoor activities in beautiful Vang Vieng (hiking, caving, and kayaking). We spent the next 13 days in Vietnam – chaotic Hanoi; beautiful Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh, with the fantastic limestone karsts; historic Hue, the Imperial City; picturesque Hoi An, with the serene and spectacular resort; ending up in Saigon for a day. We had three knowledgeable guides with different personalities and backgrounds – Laos, northern Vietnam, and central Vietnam. We had interesting and detailed discussions which enhanced our understanding of the history of the region, as well as the US impact on Laos and Vietnam. Although we liked our guides, we realized they were independent contractors and did not really have any input in our day-to-day itinerary (which did have changes from the original). Although most of the changes were fine, we would have liked better communication – letting us know about the changes and options. As a result, we spent more time managing each day's itinerary with our guides to ensure we liked the next day's itinerary. In summary, we truly liked and enjoyed our well-planned trip.

THAI returns to travel agency roots

BANGKOK, 15 December 2021: Thai International is rebuilding business relations with tour operators and travel agents, particularly in Europe; the airline’s top management told a networking conference under the theme “THAI Networking: Discover Brand New Sky.”

Hosted in Bangkok last week, key local and overseas travel agencies attended the confidence-building event sponsored by Mastercard.

thai airways travel agent rate

THAI chief commercial officer, Nond Kalinta reassured tour operators that the national airline, which is undergoing a painful restructuring, “was ready to move forward to regain confidence and trust amongst local and overseas travel agencies, especially those from Europe who represent important revenue share to THAI.”

THAI relied heavily on tour operator bookings in its early days pioneering new destinations such as Bali and Kathmandu, Nepal. The role of tour operators supplying group bookings declined and in recent years the emphasis switched almost entirely to generating direct bookings driven by digital, online booking services and online travel agencies.

thai airways travel agent rate

The conference agenda highlighted THAI’s readiness as the national carrier to focus on sales, marketing and revenue strategies to coincide with the country’s reopening policy.

In a summary of its rehabilitation plan, Nond focused on the key pillar marketing strategies, focusing on tour operators and travel agencies, particularly in Europe.

Sales and Revenue Optimisation

THAI will focus on potential revenue-generating destinations that will enable THAI to maximise sales and profit, working in close cooperation with Star Alliance partner airlines and THAI Smile Airways to extend the route network.

In support of the government’s reopening policy for Q1/2022, THAI plans services to 19 destinations in Asia, nine destinations in Europe, one destination in Australia and 14 domestic destinations operated by Thai Smile Airways. The daughter airline will also fly to neighbouring destinations such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Vientiane, Yangon, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

Feasible Products & Improved Services

New products and services will also be introduced, such as exclusive privileges for Royal Orchid Plus members, pre-selected meals service for Royal Silk Class passengers and enhanced inflight entertainment. THAI is also collaborating with Doi Tung, The Mae Fah Luang Foundation, to create “Black Silk Blend,” a special coffee exclusively blended for THAI, which will be served on board to Royal Silk Class passengers.

Pricing and Distribution Channels

Sales distribution will be further enhanced through collaboration with travel agencies and online channels. Pricing will be simplified and dynamic to market demand.

Marketing Communications

Digital Marketing will be extensively used based on customer network core behaviours to engage and deliver always-on content through social media and a CRM platform with AI capabilities.

Privacy Overview

  • Most purposes explained in this notice rely on the storage or accessing of information from your device when you use an app or visit a website. For example, a vendor or publisher might need to store a cookie on your device during your first visit on a website, to be able to recognise your device during your next visits (by accessing this cookie each time).
  • A car manufacturer wants to promote its electric vehicles to environmentally conscious users living in the city after office hours. The advertising is presented on a page with related content (such as an article on climate change actions) after 6:30 p.m. to users whose non-precise location suggests that they are in an urban zone.
  • A large producer of watercolour paints wants to carry out an online advertising campaign for its latest watercolour range, diversifying its audience to reach as many amateur and professional artists as possible and avoiding showing the ad next to mismatched content (for instance, articles about how to paint your house). The number of times that the ad has been presented to you is detected and limited, to avoid presenting it too often.
  • If you read several articles about the best bike accessories to buy, this information could be used to create a profile about your interest in bike accessories. Such a profile may be used or improved later on, on the same or a different website or app to present you with advertising for a particular bike accessory brand. If you also look at a configurator for a vehicle on a luxury car manufacturer website, this information could be combined with your interest in bikes to refine your profile and make an assumption that you are interested in luxury cycling gear.
  • An apparel company wishes to promote its new line of high-end baby clothes. It gets in touch with an agency that has a network of clients with high income customers (such as high-end supermarkets) and asks the agency to create profiles of young parents or couples who can be assumed to be wealthy and to have a new child, so that these can later be used to present advertising within partner apps based on those profiles.
  • An online retailer wants to advertise a limited sale on running shoes. It wants to target advertising to users who previously looked at running shoes on its mobile app. Tracking technologies might be used to recognise that you have previously used the mobile app to consult running shoes, in order to present you with the corresponding advertisement on the app.
  • A profile created for personalised advertising in relation to a person having searched for bike accessories on a website can be used to present the relevant advertisement for bike accessories on a mobile app of another organisation.
  • You read several articles on how to build a treehouse on a social media platform. This information might be added to a profile to mark your interest in content related to outdoors as well as do-it-yourself guides (with the objective of allowing the personalisation of content, so that for example you are presented with more blog posts and articles on treehouses and wood cabins in the future).
  • You have viewed three videos on space exploration across different TV apps. An unrelated news platform with which you have had no contact builds a profile based on that viewing behaviour, marking space exploration as a topic of possible interest for other videos.
  • You read articles on vegetarian food on a social media platform and then use the cooking app of an unrelated company. The profile built about you on the social media platform will be used to present you vegetarian recipes on the welcome screen of the cooking app.
  • You have viewed three videos about rowing across different websites. An unrelated video sharing platform will recommend five other videos on rowing that may be of interest to you when you use your TV app, based on a profile built about you when you visited those different websites to watch online videos.
  • You have clicked on an advertisement about a “black Friday” discount by an online shop on the website of a publisher and purchased a product. Your click will be linked to this purchase. Your interaction and that of other users will be measured to know how many clicks on the ad led to a purchase.
  • You are one of very few to have clicked on an advertisement about an “international appreciation day” discount by an online gift shop within the app of a publisher. The publisher wants to have reports to understand how often a specific ad placement within the app, and notably the “international appreciation day” ad, has been viewed or clicked by you and other users, in order to help the publisher and its partners (such as agencies) optimise ad placements.
  • You have read a blog post about hiking on a mobile app of a publisher and followed a link to a recommended and related post. Your interactions will be recorded as showing that the initial hiking post was useful to you and that it was successful in interesting you in the related post. This will be measured to know whether to produce more posts on hiking in the future and where to place them on the home screen of the mobile app.
  • You were presented a video on fashion trends, but you and several other users stopped watching after 30 seconds. This information is then used to evaluate the right length of future videos on fashion trends.
  • The owner of an online bookstore wants commercial reporting showing the proportion of visitors who consulted and left its site without buying, or consulted and bought the last celebrity autobiography of the month, as well as the average age and the male/female distribution of each category. Data relating to your navigation on its site and to your personal characteristics is then used and combined with other such data to produce these statistics.
  • An advertiser wants to better understand the type of audience interacting with its adverts. It calls upon a research institute to compare the characteristics of users who interacted with the ad with typical attributes of users of similar platforms, across different devices. This comparison reveals to the advertiser that its ad audience is mainly accessing the adverts through mobile devices and is likely in the 45-60 age range.
  • A technology platform working with a social media provider notices a growth in mobile app users, and sees based on their profiles that many of them are connecting through mobile connections. It uses a new technology to deliver ads that are formatted for mobile devices and that are low-bandwidth, to improve their performance.
  • An advertiser is looking for a way to display ads on a new type of consumer device. It collects information regarding the way users interact with this new kind of device to determine whether it can build a new mechanism for displaying advertising on this type of device.
  • A travel magazine has published an article on its website about the new online courses proposed by a language school, to improve travelling experiences abroad. The school’s blog posts are inserted directly at the bottom of the page, and selected on the basis of your non-precise location (for instance, blog posts explaining the course curriculum for different languages than the language of the country you are situated in).
  • A sports news mobile app has started a new section of articles covering the most recent football games. Each article includes videos hosted by a separate streaming platform showcasing the highlights of each match. If you fast-forward a video, this information may be used to select a shorter video to play next.
  • An advertising intermediary delivers ads from various advertisers to its network of partnering websites. It notices a large increase in clicks on ads relating to one advertiser, and uses data regarding the source of the clicks to determine that 80% of the clicks come from bots rather than humans.
  • Clicking on a link in an article might normally send you to another page or part of the article. To achieve this, 1°) your browser sends a request to a server linked to the website, 2°) the server answers back (“here is the article you asked for”), using technical information automatically included in the request sent by your device, to properly display the information / images that are part of the article you asked for. Technically, such exchange of information is necessary to deliver the content that appears on your screen.

The Complete Guide to Thai Airways Business Class

Thai Airways is the flagship carrier of Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s most popular tourist destinations. The Star Alliance partner offers up to three classes of service depending on the route: First Class, business class, and economy.

Marketed as Royal Silk Class, Thai Airways’s business class cabin can be found on all international flights and on most regional routes as well.

In this guide, we’ll explore Thai Airways Royal Silk business class and dive into everything you can expect before and during your business class flight, as well as a look into cabins, aircraft, and current routes.

Additionally, we’ll check out the best ways to redeem points to fly Thai Airways in its Royal Silk business class at a significantly reduced rate.

The Thai Airways Business Class Experience

While Thai Airways’ Royal Silk class may be a step down from its First Class product , you’ll still be able to enjoy a bed in the sky on certain routes, as well as excellent Thai Airways services before and during your flight.

If you’re departing from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), a unique perk that’s offered with your Royal Silk ticket is the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary pre-flight massage, before further relaxing in one of the Royal Silk lounges.

Onboard your flight, you’ll have access to a spacious seat, delicious Thai cuisine, and attentive service, all of which we’ll go over in more detail a little later.

Ground Experience

As a traveller in the Royal Silk class, you’ll have an expedited check-in and security lane to help speed through these processes.

You’ll also have access to Thai Airways Royal Silk lounges, as well as the Royal Orchid lounges. In these lounges, you’ll be able to relax before your flight and enjoy buffet-style snacks and simple meals, as well as a full bar to help you further unwind.

If you’re flying out of Bangkok, by far the highlight of Thai Airways’ ground experience for business class passengers is the Royal Orchid Spa located at concourse D.

Available exclusively for Thai Airways premium class travellers and elite status members, you’ll be invited to benefit from a complimentary massage before your flight.

As a business class passenger, you’ll be able to choose between a 30-minute neck and shoulder massage or a 30-minute foot massage. The spa also offers 60-minute full-body massages, but these are reserved for First Class travellers.

While most Royal Silk class seats are similar, there are some exceptions to be aware of, primarily on the regional routes.

First, if you’re flying internationally, you’ll most likely be flying on an Airbus A350 or a Boeing 777-300.

On these aircraft, you can expect to find a seat that reclines into a completely lie-flat bed. You’ll also receive a personal seat-mattress and duvet blanket on long-haul flights to make your sleep more comfortable.

Amenity kits are provided and equipped with toiletries and accessories such as socks, slippers, and moisturizers.

If you’re flying on a Boeing 777-200ER, you may get an older Royal Silk business class seat.

While the service will be the same, each seat will only be able to recline to between 160–170 degrees. This is still great for relaxing, but may not be as comfortable if you were hoping to get a proper night’s sleep.

Thankfully, Thai Airways doesn’t fly the Boeing 777-200ER on their longer routes.

Most Royal Silk seats have a seat pitch of 41 inches, with a seat width of 20 or 21 inches. This is certainly an increase from the 31- to 32-inch seat pitch and 18-inch seat width you’d find in Thai Airways economy class.

Food & Drink

While you won’t get caviar, you’ll definitely still get a delicious choice of pre-selected meals.

In fact, all Thai Airways passengers can pre-select their meal options before departure, and when you’re flying Royal Silk class, you’ll also have a choice of champagne or juice prior to take-off.

Once in the air, you can expect a multi-course meal from a rotating menu that changes month-to-month.

If you’re curious about the food and drink options that you may find available on your flight, Thai Airways has an online menu you can view prior to your departure to help you work up an appetite.

Some of the menu highlights include local dishes such as tiger prawn in panaeng curry, as well as international choices, like beef sukiyaki or Indian-style vegetarian meals.

Thai Airways Business Class Cabin

Thai Airways has six different aircraft types that have a business class cabin: Airbus A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER (77B), Boeing 777-300ER (77Y), Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 787-9, and Boeing 787-8.

Airbus A350

The Airbus A350-900 has 32 Royal Silk class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Rows alternate with window seats either pressed right up against the window or closer to the aisle, and middle seats either being right next to each other or further away.

With this layout in mind, if you’re a solo traveller and you want the most privacy possible, seats A or K will be the best since they are both window seats situated farthest from the aisle.

If you’re travelling with a companion, then seats E and F will allow you to easily enjoy your time together, as they are two seats right next to each other in the middle.

The Boeing 777-300ER (77B) and 777-300ER (77Y) aircraft have 42 and 40 Royal Silk class seats respectively, making them the largest of the fleet.

The seating arrangements are nearly identical to the Airbus A350, and so are the best seat selections.

As before, seats A or K are best if you’re travelling solo, and seats E and F are best if you’re travelling with a companion.

On the other hand, the Boeing 777-200ER business class cabin has 30 Royal Silk class seats, also in a 2-2-2 configuration.

However, the seats in the Boeing 777-200ER are fairly outdated and can only recline to between 160 and 170 degrees.

Additionally, similarly to the 787s, you won’t be able to get any true privacy regardless of which seat you select due to the 2-2-2 seating configuration; however, seats A and K are the window seats.

With the Boeing 777-200 aircraft being the oldest, you’ll want to do what you can to avoid it.

Keep in mind that airlines do have equipment swaps, and even if you book another aircraft, it’s possible that you’ll still get stuck with the Boeing 777-200.

That being said, regardless of which aircraft you’re on, you’ll still get the same service, food, and attention to detail as you would on any other aircraft.

thai airways travel agent rate

Next, the Boeing 787s have a 2-2-2 configuration. With this style of seating arragement, you won’t be able to choose a seat with as much privacy as the other aircraft, because regardless of which seat you choose, you’ll have someone sitting next to you.

That being said, seats A and K are the two window seats, so they may provide some additional privacy.

Thai Airways Business Class Routes

Unfortunately, Thai Airways doesn’t fly to or from North America. If you’re hoping to fly on a long-haul Thai Airways business class flight, you can either fly to or from Australia or to or from Europe.

If we only look at flights that are over eight hours long, Thai Airways flies its Royal Silk business class between Bangkok and the following destinations:

  • Munich, Germany
  • Frankfurt, Germany
  • Zurich, Switzerland
  • Paris, France
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Stockholm, Sweden

Thai Airways also operates their Royal Silk class product to many destinations within Asia, including as far west as India, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, and as far east as South Korea and Japan.

How to Redeem Points for Thai Airways Business Class

Thai Airways is one of the founding members of Star Alliance. This means that you can use other Star Alliance loyalty programs to book Thai Airways Royal Silk class seats.

That being said, Thai Airways doesn’t release much award space to partner programs, and you may have to wait until only one to three weeks before the departure date for award availability to show up.

With regards to partner programs, popular Star Alliance airline loyalty programs include Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, ANA Mileage Club, and United Mileage Plus.

The easiest way to book a Thai Airways business class flight is with Air Canada’s Aeroplan points. Aeroplan points are fairly easy to earn, since Air Canada is a transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards.

What’s more, there’s also a ton of co-branded Aeroplan credit cards to choose from.

One-way business class flights range from 80,000 Aeroplan points between Bangkok and cities in Europe, to 45,000 Aeroplan points for travel between Bangkok and Australia or Bangkok and Seoul.

As an added benefit, with Aeroplan redemptions, you can also potentially add a stopover to your flight for only 5,000 extra Aeroplan points.

thai airways travel agent rate

Avianca LifeMiles

Avianca LifeMiles aren’t as easy to earn as Aeroplan points, but they do hold some of the best award sweet spots among the Star Alliance airline loyalty programs.

In fact, the cheapest way to fly a one-way, long-haul Thai Airways business class route with points is with Avianca LifeMiles.

A one-way Royal Silk class flight between Bangkok and Seoul can be booked for 36,000 LifeMiles.

You can also book flights to and from Europe for 78,000 LifeMiles, and flights to and from Australia for 50,000 LifeMiles.

ANA Mileage Club

ANA Mileage Club also provides excellent value when booking Thai Airways business class.

Unfortunately, one-way award flights aren’t allowed, making the program not quite as flexible as others on the list.

What’s more, ANA Mileage Club redemptions come with higher taxes and fees, as ANA passes on the fuel surcharges to the traveller.

That being said, if you’re looking to book a round-trip flight to or from Bangkok, then ANA Mileage Club may still be the best choice.

From Bangkok, a round-trip Thai Airways Royal Silk class flight can be booked for 94,000 ANA miles to or from Europe, 72,000 ANA miles to or from Australia, and only 60,000 ANA miles to or from Seoul

United MileagePlus

Despite being one of the most popular Star Alliance loyalty programs, redeeming United Miles for Thai Airways business class flights doesn’t provide value equivalent to that of Air Canada Aeroplan or Avianca LifeMiles.

A one-way Thai Airways Royal Silk class flight will cost you 115,000 United Miles from Europe to Bangkok, 66,000 miles between Bangkok and Australia, and 49,500 miles between Bangkok and Seoul.

You’re much better off redeeming Aeroplan points or Avianca miles for your Thai Airways business class flights.

Thai Airways Business Class Award Availability

There are certainly quite a few loyalty programs that you can use to book your flights. However, finding award availability in the Royal Silk cabin on Thai Airways can be quite tricky.

As is the case with any hard-to-book award seat, you’ll need a bit of luck if you’re hoping to enjoy the seat, food, and service on Thai Airways. You’ll have the best chances of booking a seat in a Royal Silk cabin by being flexible and by booking either as far out as possible or quite last minute.

If you do find a Thai Airways business class seat, it’s best to book it immediately, as it may not be available for long.

Tips & Tricks for Thai Airways Business Class

The best way to experience Thai Airways business class is by flying out of Bangkok, which will allow you to get the most out of the ground experience, including your choice between two different 30-minute complimentary massages.

Additionally, even though Thai Airways doesn’t fly directly to North America, by using Aeroplan to book, you can take advantage of their stopover rules to combine a Thai Airways business class flight with another partner airline’s business class flight.

For example, booking through Aeroplan, you could fly Air Canada Signature Class from North America to Hong Kong, perhaps enjoy a stopover in Hong Kong, and then continue on to Bangkok afterwards on Thai Airways.

Similarly, you could design an itinerary where you fly to your preferred European city and enjoy some time there, before continuing on a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok.

One final thing to keep in mind when booking a Royal Silk class seat is that you’ll want to be aware of which aircraft type you’re booking on.

If the seat layout is 2-2-2, you may be on an older aircraft, which will come with significantly less privacy than the newer aircraft and configurations.

Make sure that you’re booking on an Airbus A350 or a Boeing 777 with a 1-2-1 seat configuration to enjoy the newer products and the increased privacy.

Thai Airways business class product, its Royal Silk Class, provides an excellent ground and onboard experience.

You’ll be able to enjoy a bed in the sky alongside delicious Thai cuisine and free-flowing Champagne.

Finding award space can be a challenge, but if you’re patient and flexible, you’ll certainly be rewarded for your efforts.

Are these airlines really the best and worst for business class travel?

Qatar-Airways-Boeing-787-9-Business-Class-Zach-Griff-43-1

From the ergonomics of tray tables to the types of cheese one can devour in an airport lounge, the small details matter when flying business class.

And why not? You want to make sure those carefully saved points go as far as possible.

Luggage storage company Bounce recently decided to separate the best and worst experiences in the sky, ranking airlines across seven business class criteria including cabin and seat, cuisine, amenities and facilities.

These aggregated scores come courtesy of user reviews on online travel agent Business Class, with Singapore Airlines emerging as the overall champ with a total score of 9.57 across all categories, finishing just above Qatar, which managed an impressive 9.29. Egyptair is at the bottom of the list with a score of 5.71.

Which airlines performed well, which ones disappointed, and should you take these scores with a pinch of in-flight salt? Here at TPG, we've flown business (and more) with all of these airlines. Scroll down to see how each one measured up when we flew with them.

Note: amenities and seats can differ from plane to plane, and if some of the reviews appear to be two or three years old, there's a COVID-19 reason for that and we'll be sure to update with the latest reviews once they're in.

Now read on to see our thoughts on the best and worst business class services.

10 best-rated business class airlines

1. singapore airlines.

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 9.57

What tpg says:.

"After experiencing 18 hours of Singapore's legendary service, it was clear how this carrier continually wins awards for the best service of an airline though the biggest issue with the flight was the seat itself: though the seat is oversized compared to competitors, it's not comfortable for relaxing or sleeping, especially if you prefer a soft mattress or have trouble sleeping at an angle. Do whatever you can to select a bulkhead seat on this flight. If you can't, rest assured knowing that there's enough IFE content to keep you entertained for multiple trips from New York to Singapore."

2. Qatar Airways

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 9.29

"Qatar Airways' business class on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner offered a top-notch onboard experience, even though it wasn't the airline's signature Qsuite product. No matter where you sit, the seats feel comfortable and stylish.

"With a comfortable seat and ample privacy thanks to the sliding door, I didn't want the six-and-a-half-hour flight to end. Add in the plethora of amenities I was given and a delectable culinary experience, and I had an excellent experience in this new product."

3. Cathay Pacific

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 9.00

"A stellar ground experience, fantastic seat, top-notch IFE and a near-unbeatable points redemption overshadowed the hit-or-miss food and inconsistent service that lags behind some East Asian and Middle East competitors.

The bed itself didn't disappoint, especially with the amenities Cathay provided. The mattress pad, while not out of this world, was appreciated. Meanwhile, the duvet and pillow were both quite comfortable (though it was no Saks Fifth Avenue bedding that you'd find on United)."

"On this flight, cabin crew members were courteous and generally pleasant, but they were generally not proactive or assumed everyone wanted to sleep the whole flight, often lacking the personal touches that make other carriers' business products really shine."

4. Turkish Airlines

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 8.86

"Turkish operates two versions of the 777-300ER. Unfortunately, on my New York-JFK to Istanbul (IST) leg, I was on the older version, with a lower-resolution video screen and more dated finishes.

"While privacy is sorely lacking on Turkish's 777, these forward-facing, lie-flat seats do have one plus: a significant amount of legroom. With an open layout, there is no concern about the tight footwells you might find in such seats as Delta One suites or even Singapore's A350-900.

"I was a bit underwhelmed by the meal itself, from the single-tray service to the limited menu entries. I had just been expecting a bit more, pandemic or not."

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 8.71

"Overall, the seat was very comfortable and I could have stayed far longer than this almost 7-hour flight. I also tested it out in its fully flat position. It was soft and wide enough around the shoulders for any type of sleeper, although the footwell felt a little small, and if you like to wriggle your legs in your sleep, you might find your range of motion hindered.

"Etihad's new business-class seat does indeed feel very similar to the British Airways Club Suite but I would consider this to be an upgrade due to the fabric upholstery, the cabin colors and the high-end finishes such as the marble effect on the seat's flat surfaces.

"Etihad's A350 is a beauty and, in particular, the new business-class product has a lot to make a passenger comfortable and happy."

Average rating: 8.57

"Asiana's A350 is a comfortable way to get between Asia and the US. Pros: new A350 aircraft, solid hard product and attentive service. Cons: distinct misses in the food department and so-so choices for entertainment.

"While there are some things that Asiana could do to improve its product, like upping its catering to something more consistently good, I would absolutely fly this product again."

7. Japan Airlines (JAL)

thai airways travel agent rate

"Overall, I was impressed, but not blown away by this product. Sure, the quasi-suite was private and afforded me a good rest, but the lack of storage space was definitely noticeable. JAL continued to impress with its food-and-beverage program. All of it was delicious and much of it unique.

"Its business class remains a great points-friendly option for crossing the Pacific and connecting onward in Asia. Bring your own entertainment and know that you aren't stepping foot into a cutting-edge hard product, and you'll be set for a great flight."

8. All Nippon Airways (ANA)

thai airways travel agent rate

"With the introduction of The Room, ANA has set a new gold standard for international business class. The cabin is stunning and the seat is simply the best in the skies, offering copious amount of personal space and tons of privacy. Everything about the seat is well designed, including the fancy new lighting and adjustable tray table.

"ANA didn't just hit a home run with the seat. The new product was packed with some top-notch amenities too. The most noticeable is the highest-quality monitor I've ever seen on a plane. The 24-inch 4K screen is so crisp that it made working on my MacBook Pro with Retina display feel like I'd gone back to the 2000s.

"As it stands, The Room is a phenomenal business-class product. If ANA were to improve the ground experience and modify the service flow, it would even compete with some international first-class offerings."

9. Air New Zealand

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 8.43

"I found the Air New Zealand business-class experience on this route to be perfectly comfortable, though definitely not at the top of the pack. I loved the bedding and the fact that I had a lie-flat seat, but the configuration is less than ideal, the seats themselves feel cramped and face away from the windows.

"Food and amenities were generally on par with a standard business-class offering while not offering any single thing that helped set the carrier apart from its competition. Where Air New Zealand's business-class offering really excels, though, is with its service. And because of that alone, I would consider flying with the carrier again on this fifth-freedom route."

10. Thai Airways

thai airways travel agent rate

"I definitely think the airline deserves more credit than it gets. The passenger experience on the A350 is tough to beat: quieter engines, higher cabin-air quality and an overall smoother ride. What left the biggest impression, though, was Thai's phenomenal soft product. From the luxurious massage treatments on the ground to the delicious food and world-class hospitality in the air, the entire experience was nothing short of unforgettable.

"The main difference I noticed with Thai was the warm, family-like atmosphere that their incredible flight attendants bring on board. It felt as if I were being welcomed into someone's home rather than aboard an aeroplane — once again, a nod to their 'guest' rather than 'passenger' service mentality

AND HERE ARE THE 10 WORST rated Business Class airlines

1. egyptair.

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 5.71

"EgyptAir has made a phenomenal choice in aircraft. This Dreamliner represents a huge leap forward, and there's no question that the carrier's hard product — the cabin and seat — is top-notch.

"But the awful Cairo lounge, the lackluster catering (though I understand the lack of booze), weird lavatory blocking and inconsistent service severely hurt the overall experience. That said, given the price, $1,216 for a lie-flat seat all the way from Egypt to New York plus the connecting flight from the Middle East, I'd almost certainly book EgyptAir's Dreamliner again."

2. Copa Airlines

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 6.71

"There's only so much you can do on a vanilla 737 with standard recliner seats, and Copa did the job well, with no obvious failings. Friendly crews made getting from New York to Guatemala the long way easy.

"However, a less impersonal lounge at Copa's Panama City hub — with warm food — and more options for the inflight entertainment would have made for a much better experience. That said, Copa proved it can win my business again for flights to Latin America. If nothing else, the introduction of lie-flat seats on its 737s should put it on your radar too."

3. AIR China

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 7.14

"The food wasn't exceptional, there wasn't any Wi-Fi, and the dated seats could certainly benefit from an overhaul, but I walked away with a very positive impression of Air China and the 747-8.

"Of course, I can't discount the fact that I didn't have someone sitting next to me — with limited privacy, having a stranger so close by would have certainly impacted the experience quite a bit. If you do fly Air China's 747-8, I recommend a seat on the upper deck, and perhaps closer to the back. It seems that's your best shot at having a more enjoyable flight."

4. Royal Air Maroc

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 7.29

"The lounge, IFE and meal service won't leave you feeling disappointed, but you likely won't come away thinking it was the best flying experience you've had. If the airline invested a little more in the soft product and installed Wi-Fi on its aircraft, I think it could be a real contender for one of the better ways to hop across the Pond."

"For now, though, perhaps its best selling point is the fact that it's the only way to fly nonstop between the U.S. and Morocco, and it offers a slew of connections to many other destinations in Africa. And for that, it's a more than suitable option to get the job done."

5. Ethiopian Airlines

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 7.43

"The weakest aspect of Ethiopian's product is surely the 2-2-2 business-class configuration, placing it a bit behind the standard for premium cabins today. That said, the seats are comfortable, and the duvet and pillow will serve you well.

"The lounge in Addis wasn't gorgeous and the Cloud Nine seats aren't what you'll get on some airlines like Qatar, but overall it was a good flight with excellent cabin crew and IFE, good amenities and decent food. Plus, considering the value, I really can't complain."

"Overall, this was a good flight with a comfortable seat, and I would definitely fly Iberia again. Relatively small enhancements to the ground experience (better directions and signage and allowing Iberia passengers to use the premium preflight dining service in a lounge maintained by the same parent company) as well as a warmer service, however, would make this flight more memorable than a typical business-class flight."

7. Kenya Airways

thai airways travel agent rate

"Kenya Airways' flagship service should be on your radar, especially if you are a Delta/SkyTeam flyer. My experience on it was not flawless, but KQ got me to Nairobi in a flat-bed seat smoothly without any real issues, and demonstrated a willingness to compete for real — take the excellent customer service I got before departure. I would fly the carrier again without hesitation.

"What did bug me, though, was the bed length, not quite enough for my 6-feet, 2-inch frame. I would have loved an extra inch. The fleece blanket was lightweight, very warm and long enough."

8. American Airlines

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: 7.57

"American Airlines has come leaps and bounds since the days of strangely angled rotating lie-flat seats in a 2-4-2 configuration and cheese cubes in the Admirals Club being considered appropriate premium food for international business class.

"I am a big fan of their new lounges and the food offering available, particularly outside of breakfast hours. The hard product, seat, bedding and cabin layout are now up to the international standard. On board, the inflight entertainment system is very good, as is the Wi-Fi. Food and service is decent.

"Still, it doesn't overly 'wow,' and maybe that's exactly what one would want from a business-class product. I am certainly not a fan of bling or gimmicks. The best word to describe it might be 'solid,' and I suspect a bit more personalized and attentive service could push this easily into 'very good'."

 9. Polish Airlines

thai airways travel agent rate

"These particular seats offer little in the way of privacy, as I also experienced on Turkish's A330 and Air India's 787 . There isn't a slide-out divider, and they're exposed to the rest of the cabin. Seats 4A and 4F seem to offer the most privacy, since they're right up against the window with a bulkhead wall behind. I didn't find the galley noise to be disturbing either, even though that had been flagged on SeatGuru.

"Aside from the lack of privacy, I was also disappointed in the amount of storage space. Did I have the time of my life? No, not at all, but the friendly crew and interesting food and beverage selection did make up for my lousy boarding experience in Warsaw."

10. Royal Jordanian

thai airways travel agent rate

Average rating: (7.57)

"This Royal Jordanian Crown Business flight experience wasn't anything special — I'm not sure how it could have been considering it was only a 45-minute flight, but nothing about it remotely justified the ridiculous cost. In fact, now that economy award availability has opened up, I don't see a good reason to book business class. Royal Jordanian has a monopoly on this route and prices it as such.

"The Pros: A spacious, open air lounge with fresh, delicious croissants. The Cons: High carrier-imposed charges on award tickets, limited economy award availability and no in-flight service of any kind."
