Trafalgar - Never Again!

Do not travel with this company because they have no Covid protocol. Basically their attitude is ‘don’t make your problem our problem’. I began my tour of Sicily and Italy on 25 April. On day one I was seated behind a young man who coughed constantly. I was seated behind him for five days and on day six I got sick. By day seven we had arrived in Rome and I spent 55 out of our 60 hours in Rome sleeping. I had brought covid test kits with me and I tested positive on day seven. I sent my travel guide my test results and was told to keep them quiet so as not to ‘disturb the mood of the bus’. I spent two days in Rome without any food and no help. After Rome we were off again at a dizzying pace. I was sick, tired and weak with no option to rest and recover. Not only did I miss out all the extra excursions I paid for but I missed out huge chunks of the tour because I was too weak to participate. The reason I was sick was 100% the fault of Trafalgar who allow sick people to join the tour and do nothing to warn or protect any of the other travelers. I was masked from the time I fell ill but other people also fell ill at the same time I did and they did not mask. By the end of the tour at least 60% of the travelers on the bus were sick, all of it being played down by the travel guide calling it a bit of flu, despite knowing very well that it was Covid. Subsequent to the tour I have been in communication with other people from my group all of whom now have Covid. So, if you feel like a dose of Covid, by all means, travel with Trafalgar because once they have your money they couldn’t care less about what happens to you on their tours and you will be unprotected and uncared for by them. All that money wasted on a tour I could hardly participate in because the tour company has no policy to protect their clients. I would like to say a big thank you to our driver Simone who was very kind and helpful to me while I was sick. This was not his job, nor his responsibility but he did it out of human decency, something quite lacking from anyone else at the company.

Reply from Trafalgar Travel

We deeply understand and empathise with your feedback about your recent trip. We are truly sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations and that you had to endure discomfort during the tour. We want to reassure you that we take the safety of our guests very seriously. While it is possible to contract Covid-19 while travelling between countries, we have comprehensive protocols in place for ill passengers. Our Travel Directors are trained to identify and encourage unwell guests to wear masks, although we cannot control their actions. We understand the challenges of preventing illness spread and advise guests to take personal responsibility by carrying any necessary protective equipment and sanitisers. This information is provided to guests before travelling when we issue the final travel documents. We apologise if you found the single supplement option expensive. We understand that visiting multiple cities and attractions within a limited timeframe can be overwhelming, and you may wish to spend more time in certain places. In response, our operations team will review the pace of the tour and consider providing more free time at significant sites listed in the itinerary. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to email our Guest Department at [email protected]. Our team will be happy to address any concerns you may have.

Will never travel with Trafalgar again

Will never travel with Trafalgar again. Just got back from the Contrasts of Australia and New Zealand trip that started Apr 11 2024. The Australia portion was great, but when we got to New Zealand they added more people to the tour, many of whom were sick and hacking, coughing, and sneezing. The Tour Director did not mandate or issue effective masks to the sick people (the few who wore a mask wore cloth) and since he insisted on a mandatory seat rotation plan, the sick people just kept moving around the bus exposing everyone. I ended up getting Covid from one or more of them!! Fortunately it happened towards the end of the trip. Thought i was coming down with a cold but tested when I got home and tested positive twice. I’ve notified Trafalgar with no response. Also for solo travelers…don’t count on getting your own seat, Trafalgar will put you with someone else so you are rubbing up against some stranger for 3-9 hours every day on the bus. Priority for single seats will go to overweight people who don’t fit on their half of the seat. When we asked the Tour Director to make sure it was fair and to rotate the singles through the single seats, he wouldn’t. Having said all that, the Australian Tour Director was wonderful and all the hotels were very good!

Date of experience : April 10, 2024

Thank you for providing us with feedback regarding your recent travel experience. We appreciate that you opted for the single supplement rate as a solo traveller. However, this rate does not guarantee a single-person seat on the coach. We follow a daily seat rotation system that allows all guests to enjoy scenic views and get to know their fellow travellers. At Trafalgar, we prioritise the health and safety of our guests. We take the cleanliness and ventilation of our coaches seriously and have implemented measures to ensure they are well-maintained. While our Travel Directors will advise unwell guests to wear masks, we cannot force them to act responsibly. We understand that preventing the spread of illnesses can be challenging. Therefore, we request guests take responsibility while travelling by carrying personal protective equipment and sanitisers they may require. This information is also communicated to guests before the travel date when we provide them with their final documents. Thank you for your review; we hope you have fully recovered.

Worst on line company I have ever dealt…

Worst on line company I have ever dealt with. Did not explain things, said look at your flights without explaining that I would have to be staying an extra day with NO FREE Airport shuttle. After I had paid second instalment received 4 emails requesting payment …more concerned with $ than helping. Refused to post documents, even though I ad expressly asked…do NOT book directly, use a travel agent, who will explain, print out documents and HELP:

We understand that your experience with our Reservations team may not have been as satisfactory as we strive for, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. At Trafalgar, we want you to have as easy and convenient a journey as possible, so we offer airport transfers to and from your tour hotel on the first and last days of your itinerary for most destinations. If you arrive earlier or leave later than your scheduled itinerary dates, you can purchase your transfer from us, provided you've also bought your extra hotel night(s) through us. We appreciate your request for your travel documents to be printed and posted to your home address. Per our Treadright policy, we are constantly trying to reduce our carbon footprint. One way to do this is by providing our guests with electronic travel documents. Also, our Travel Director is responsible for handling all the travel details to ensure our guests have a stress-free vacation without worrying about the paperwork. We appreciate your trust in Trafalgar and thank you for being our guest.

I booked my Highlights of Australia &…

I booked my Highlights of Australia & NZ in June 2023. A short time before the holiday was due to start, I logged on to the Trafalgar website to check I had entered all my details and saw a pop-up message that said 'your itinerary may have changed'. Yes, it had, but no-one had notified me. If I hadn't logged on, I would have gone on holiday totally unaware that a new stop at Alice Springs had been added, and one of the days at Sydney had been deleted. Totally unacceptable. The American travelers on the tour also had a similar experience, and found that activities they had specifically booked this tour for had been deleted from the program. Apparently Trafalgar review their itineraries and may make changes on 1 April each year. Beware if you have booked your holiday at an earlier time because they won't notify you nor will they let you seek an alternative holiday. There were good parts of the holiday: Good hotels, or the best possible in remote locations Amazing sights Australia had an excellent tour guide (Tony) Bad points; Pretty tiring schedule, too much was packed in, especially for odd activities that not everyone welcomed but had to go on as they were on the way to the next location I will never book with Trafalgar again. They can't be trusted to deliver the itinerary they promise

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of your recent travel experience. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Australia and New Zealand's beautiful sights and that our professional Travel Director enhanced your experience with excellent service. We understand that the long coach rides and dynamic trip pace may have been challenging for you. However, we hope the incredible attractions we planned for you made up for it. We always strive to provide a relaxing holiday experience, and our Contracting Team works diligently to select comfortable and well-located hotels for our guests. We appreciate your comments about the itinerary change and have taken note of them. However, sometimes circumstances beyond our control require us to make necessary changes to the itinerary, and we reserve the right to substitute or change itinerary elements, as we have in this instance. We apologise for any inconvenience. Once again, thank you for your feedback and for choosing to travel with Trafalgar.

Poor customer service

We have not commenced our Great European Tour to depart London on 19/5/24 and already have had poor customer service and disappointment. Our travel agent in Australia received an email stating that the hotel in London had changed. Our agent last October tried to reserve a room at The Tower Hotel but it was booked, so booked a room at Lalit within walking distance and non refundable. We now find out the new hotel, Thistle Marble is over 30mins away by taxi. The travel agent and I both requested either a shuttle or taxi to collect us but were rudely declined.

Date of experience : April 16, 2024

Thank you for sharing your review with us. We apologise that you are not satisfied with your pre-tour experience so far. We strongly recommend that you book your accommodations directly through us at Trafalgar. However, we understand that availability can be limited and may not always be possible. We understand your travel agent has attempted to secure a room at The Tower Hotel. However, if circumstances beyond our control require changes or if we can make improvements, we reserve the right to substitute hotels, as we have done in this instance. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are glad to hear that our Reservations team has been able to assist you with your travel requirements. We look forward to welcoming you on the tour.

Pray you don't get sick on a Trafalgar Tour with Aon Affinity Trip Insurance

We have traveled extensively with Trafalgar. Our last trip, the wonders of Patagonia, was a bust due to getting Covid and being dropped by our tour immediately. We bought trip insurance from Trafalgar and they used Aon Affinity Trip Insurance as their travel insurance provider. We read the contract and expected to have our hotel near the hospital paid and the 2.5 hour taxi ride to airport to get home covered as the Trafalgar tour director said we could not ride the bus to the airport and Trafalgar had made no arrangements for us, We were on our own. We thought Aon would pay for the hotel and taxi, but no, they said they would pay for neither. Trafalgar has made a poor choice in misleading customers that Covid illness is covered in their company sponsored trip insurance. We fault Trafalgar for the poor level of help and dropping us at the end as well as selecting a carrier for insuance that deceivingly excludes taxis as a common carrier. When you are in a very remote area as we were, you have no options. When we were dropped by Trafalgar we has extreme issues with language as no one spoke English and no one took credit cards. Trafalgar needs to revise their Aon Trip Insurance plan to be more customer friendly and support customers in real terms as it is terrible to get sick, but worse to be abandoned so far from home and then return home thinking you will be reimbursed and find out the trip insurance is weaseling out of paying what we consider a valid covered expense. We purchase this insurance in good faith trusting Trafalgar to have a top notch trip insurance carrier. Terrible insurance, terrible support on illness.

Trafalgar Tours really let us down on…

Trafalgar Tours really let us down on our South American trip. Poorly spoken guides, dirty busses , a very dangerous bus ride and a very boring itinerary with very few extras on offer. The Peru portion was great but the Chille, Brazil portion was very poor and the only reason why we enjoyed Argentina was because we had been to Buenos Aires a few times. The guide in Bariloche was seagull and uninspiring. I have done many trips with Trafalgar and Insight and this one was seriously lacking. What was even more disappointing is I wrote in my review all the complaints and no one apologised or adressed the issues hence my review here.

so-so experience

Had a problem with the travel portion of a tour I just booked. I called immediately to cancel literally minutes after I did an online deposit and they refused to refund the deposit which was probably not even processed yet. However, I tried a different number and a nicer person who told me non-refundable, but hold I will check with my manager. The manager did authorize the refund so I did not lose the $400.00. I thought it was nice of them but it should not have been so difficult and it took me a half hour to accomplish.

Date of experience : April 01, 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We would like to remind you that our booking terms and conditions state that all deposits are non-refundable. However, we are happy to inform you that an exception was made for your booking, and the deposit refund was processed on April 2nd, 2024. Please check the last invoice you received from our Reservations Team for confirmation.

Gorgeous Greece

Gorgeous Greece. Moraig, our guide and Dimitri were excellent, they provided the best service- nothing was too much and the attention to detail was second to none. Brilliant tour, well organised, interesting and jam packed- awesome value for money. They were helpful, thorough, thoughtful and considerate. The local experts were phenomenal and passionate, our tour was the best of Greece and that’s definitely what we got.

We are delighted to receive your feedback and happy to know you had a wonderful experience. It's great to hear that you received exceptional service from our On The Road Teams, who are a valuable asset to our company. We are pleased that they provided outstanding service, enabling you to connect with the local people, contribute positively to the local ecosystem and economy, and fully immerse yourselves in the culture. We appreciate your feedback and want you to know that it has not gone unnoticed.

A decent tour with room for improvement

Overall, the tour was pretty fun, but there were some things that could have been done better in Milan. The hotel that was provided was fine, but it didn't have as many amenities as the other hotels that were part of the tour package. still, the itinerary was complete, including a lot of interesting things to see in the short amount of time that was available. The hotels were only average, but that's because they were on a tight budget. the coaches used for transportation were always clean and comfortable during the tour.,

Thank you for sharing your review with us. We are delighted that you had a fantastic experience with us and that our On Road Team contributed to your unique itinerary. We understand that ensuring our guests experience all the beautiful attractions in our itinerary can result in busy schedules and full days. However, we are aware that our guests would like to visit all the sites mentioned in the itinerary. Our Contracting Team puts a lot of effort into selecting the hotels we work with to ensure we offer comfortable, well-located accommodation at a great value. Nonetheless, we acknowledge that hotel standards vary from country to country. Some hotels may differ in size, character, and amenities from what our guests are accustomed to. However, we expect all our appointed hotels to meet our high standards. We have shared your comments with our Quality Control team to ensure our accommodation continues to offer our guests the best experience. Thank you for choosing to travel with Trafalgar. We appreciate your feedback.

Never again with Trafalgar Tours

We booked a Splendors of Japan Tour with Trafalgar and my husband was medically unable to go. We gave them 3 months notice and had to write 23 emails and make over 12 calls to get a partial refund. Their service is so poor and the right hand does not know anything about the left hand. We would NEVER use them again and tell all our friends how poorly they treated us. We mostly received these automatic, "no reply" emails and when you actually speak to someone, they put you on hold several times, for a lengthy hold and have nothing to offer except lip service! Terrible business, terrible service and we booked, they never shared with us they would penalize us for canceling 3 months advance!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge receipt of your concerns and express our apologies for the level of service you have received from our Contact Centre that did not meet your expectations. We would like to acknowledge the cancellation you submitted three months prior to your scheduled travel date. We understand that you are aware of our booking conditions, which stipulate the industry standard cancellation fees. We cannot investigate the conditions surrounding your booking as we need your booking information. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of service. As such, our Guest Relations Department would be happy to assist you with any necessary documentation required to claim your travel insurance. Once again, we would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Never will we travel with Trafalgar…

Never will we travel with Trafalgar again. Paid top price and got budget tour from Madrid to Barcelona bus tour. Very little stopping to take pictures and shown very little tourist attractions. All about going from start to finish and nothing in-between. So disappointed after travelling hard way around the world.

Thank you for your review. We hope you had the chance to immerse yourself in the Spanish culture during your trip and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of the locals, the delicious cuisine and the country’s rich history, which is all unique to this beautiful country. However, we were concerned to learn that you felt certain aspects of the trip could have been improved. Exploring this beautiful country in a condensed amount of time can be quite an adventure, and we strive to include the perfect amount of time at each location for in-depth discovery; there are certain towns where we wish to stay longer. We have shared your feedback with our Operations team as we constantly strive to see where our itineraries can be improved. That said, we still hope you have taken some lasting highlights during your time away with us.

Trafalgar Splendors of Japan Tour was very dissapointing due to inexperienced tour guides

My wife and I recently returned from Trafalgar's Splendors of Japan with Hiroshima Tour and we were very dissapointed with the quality of the Tour Director, local tour guides and optional excursions/activities. The guides and tour director were extremely inexperienced, they could not elaborate or provide details on site visits, activities, meals, alternative things to do. Please consider hiring and or sub-contracting local vendors with more experience and better communication skills.

Date of experience : April 03, 2024

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Our Travel Directors play a crucial role in ensuring our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable trip experience. We carefully select team members who are passionate about travel and service. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We have shared your feedback with our operations manager so that we can make improvements for future trips. Although this is rare, we hope you still have beautiful memories of your trip to Japan.

Trafalgar overcharged us for pre paid…

Trafalgar charged us for pre paid gratuities. Suggest you don’t pay these in advance to Trafalgar. We found Trafalgar asked for almost NZ$80 ( allowing for local currency exchange rate) more than the tour leader and driver expected or would have got. So far Trafalgar hasn’t responded to our request for a refund of the overpayment. Also the ‘included’ meals at local venues were very poor quality with the exception of one. Only one hotel had air conditioning. Very few USB charge points on the bus worked. However The tour itinerary and tour leader were great.

Traveled all night USA to Fr

Traveled all night USA to Fr, can’t wait to get to see the hotel to freshen up and do some sightseeing. When I arrive with 4 pieces of luggage, at 9am, I am told, with an attitude, check in is 2pm, so here I am sitting in the lobby with my luggage, my very, very costly vacation is already ruined, never again

Date of experience : September 24, 2023

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that during your booking process, you were not well informed that the official check-in times vary from hotel to hotel. Should your flight arrive in the early morning into the city where your trip begins, you may find yourself arriving at the hotel before noon, and it could be early afternoon before your room is ready (Two pm or Three pm). Hotels try to prevent this from happening, but check-in times cannot be guaranteed. The hotel can suggest how any spare time could be used to sightsee, relax or enjoy local restaurants while your room is being prepared. When arriving at your first hotel, check in at the main reception desk. The reception staff will need to know your name and that you are travelling with Trafalgar. When your trip begins, check-in will be managed by the Travel Director, who will advise you on procedures and hotel features before arrival. They will secure keys and oversee the delivery of your luggage to your room. Thank you for choosing Trafalgar as your travel partner, and we hope that you have an unforgettable travel experience.

Best of Italy Tour for 13 days, really 11 days. Recommendation: Do NOT take a Trafalgar Tour of any kind!

Best of Italy Tour for 13 days--actually 12 days. This was our 2nd Trafalgar tour--1st was Egypt---also terrible! 1) Could ONLY understand about 10 % of the travel director's harangue. Her name was Frederica. The same situation occurred in Egypt. 2) The bus driver named Theo was surly and rude. 3) The Travel Director constantly sold the extra excursions. These were 2.5 times more expensive then privately-made tours. Example in Rome--Crown Tours. 4) The food was terrible. 5) The hotels were at best 2-3 star. NO AC, low water pressure, and the breakfasts were poor. 6) Many hours were spent most days on the bus--4-8 hours. There were 49 passengers on this bus! You could not relax on the bus because the tour director constantly was speaking and selling optional excursions. Again, could not understand but 10 % of what she said. 7) We pre-paid gratuities, but wished that we had not done so. Neither the driver nor Travel Director thanked us. We will not prepay again, however, we will NEVER take another Trafalgar Tour.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We value your honest opinion and are sorry to hear that certain aspects of your trip did not meet your expectations. Our On The Road Team is integral to ensuring our guests have an enjoyable and comfortable experience during their travels. We carefully select team members who are passionate about travel and possess extensive knowledge of their respective regions. We are disappointed that your experience did not reflect this. Your feedback has been shared with our Operations Manager, and appropriate measures will be taken. We understand that our guests appreciate having the freedom to explore and engage with the local culture, which is why we provide a range of Optional Experiences. These experiences are designed to enhance our guests' understanding of the places we visit and are separate from the itinerary. Our Contracting Department ensures that our accommodations are of a four-star standard or higher. We apologise if the hotel standards did not meet your expectations. Similarly, we apologise for any disappointment caused by the meals provided during your trip. We appreciate that the cuisine of Italy is world-renowned, and we will investigate your feedback to ensure we offer only the best to our clients. We understand that the long coach rides may have been tiring, but we hope that the unique attractions outlined in the itinerary made up for it. Our luxury coaches can accommodate up to 52 guests, although we typically have an average of 40-48 guests. However, if additional space is required, our sister company, Insight Vacations, offers specially reconfigured coaches with only 40 seats, providing business-class legroom. A Classic Insight Vacations tour has a maximum of 40 travellers, whereas their Small Group departures have just 24. We understand that guests may have different preferences when it comes to gratuities. Therefore, we offer the option to prepay gratuities or pay during the trip. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our future departures. We hope to host you again and provide an authentic Trafalgar experience.

Dont risk your money with Trafalgar

Trafalgar cancelled our tour booking without our consent because I asked about if there was availability on another tour. Never did they mention that enquiring about another tour they cancel your existing booking. Now the tour is full and I have spent $18,000 on Qantas airfares and accom. Tour booked in Jan 2023 for Sept 2023 tour. Nobody takes responsible and nobody will call me to discuss. Family of 4 holiday ruined,.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Trafalgar cancelled my trip too Santa Fe (which is understandable and accepted as their may not have been enough people booking, or COVID or whatever). The 90-100 days quoted to get a refund for the trip the company cancelled is NOT ACCEPTABLE. It has now been six weeks and Trafalgar still has my $3300. Calls to the service center take HOURS on hold. Horrible customer service. Horrible refund policy. Definitely disappointed.

Wish I had read the reviews before…

Wish I had read the reviews before booking with Trafalgar - I will NEVER travel with this tour company again. In September 2023 myself and a travel companion traveled to Northern Spain. The experience for the most part was awful. Some hotels were lovely, some meals were good, wine was plentiful but other hotels and meals were terrible. Biggest complaint was the pressure and fast paced walking to keep up with the tour director. It was rush, rush, rush with little to no time to explore, take pictures, etc. There were 52 passengers on the bus and little time to use the restrooms when we stopped, get a refreshment or look around. The whole trip was exhausting and grueling and it was clear the tour director just had a schedule to keep (not his fault). I was so glad when the tour came to an end.

Date of experience : September 02, 2023

Thank you for your feedback during your time spent in Spain. We aim to provide the best travel experience for our guests, and it is only through your valuable feedback that we can continue improving the standards we are known for. Our team strives to provide the most unique and enjoyable guided vacations for all our guests, and we’re saddened to read that you feel we missed the mark in this instance. We understand that an active itinerary can be tiring and that some valuable guests prefer smaller groups. We apologise that you were not well informed regarding the group size for this trip at the time of the booking. We have designed our Trafalgar tours to accommodate up to fifty-two guests on our luxury coaches, although we average forty to forty-five guests. If smaller groups are a must and a leisure itinerary is what you prefer, our sister company, Insight Vacations, has small group departures with a maximum of twenty-four and offers some selected itineraries at a leisurely pace. That said, we still hope you have taken many lasting highlights away from your time in Spain.

Best of Italy

Best of Italy, Best of my trips! This trip exceeded my expectations! The tourist guide, Romeo, was a 10! The hotels were very comfortable,(a couple of them luxurious, a couple of them excellent and a couple of them very good./ Food offered pretty good. Dinner in the Tuscany Hills unbelievable. Coach very comfortable and clean. I traveled with the "other " company before, the one starts with "G", and definitely Trafalgar was the best (My second tour with them).Hopefully I can make many more tours with them.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback during your time in Italy, and it's always great to learn our frequent travellers continue to explore the world with us. We are pleased you had the opportunity to witness the breathtaking attractions in Italy and immersed yourself in Italian culture. It pleases us to learn that our Travel Director demonstrated exceptional knowledge of the destination and provided a high level of service to ensure your enjoyable experience. Our team of Travel Directors are passionate about travel, and we are happy to know that they continually strive to provide professional and outstanding service to our valuable guests. It was great to read that our coaches met your expectations and that you travelled comfortably, as this is a crucial factor in enjoying your time on the road. That said, we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future; in the meantime, please know that we are committed to providing the best possible experience for our guests.

Booking the trip was so incredibly easy!!!! The representative on the phone was very nice! Very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. Booking was insanely easy! We did The Best of Ireland and Scotland with Andrew Speed and Eoin Lynch. They were both so incredibly amazing and a huge factor in making our trip memorable. Andrew was such a bundle of knowledge! the way he told us the history of the land and all the various stories throughout the trip felt like such a treat! I could listen to him for hours! HE also worked very hard to time everything perfectly. Somehow ever single stop we made, we were able to see the beautiful sites and shop all the stores before the other tour buses ruined the scenes with all the people or before the weather turned bad. He was like the tour guide/ weather doppler all in one. Eoin Lynch was also a huge factor in our amazing trip! He managed to get us on time at every stop I believe! I also have never trusted anyone more than him to drive me or a bus full of rowdy people through the country, or small cramped winding city roads, or across narrow cliff sides. His driving skills truly are impressive! But the dedication he took every single day to keep the bus clean was also something he should be commended for! Those people were gross and messy, yet every single day he THOROUGHLY cleaned that bus no matter how long it took. Jim Bug and Ashley

Missed first two days of Britain & Ireland vacation - strongly advise using a different company. Trafalgar booked flights too close together so the slightest delay caused missed connection. We could have booked with a different airline but was not permitted.. so we miss two days of a 10 day tour so disappointing to start off a vacation soo poorly.

Not for seasoned travelers, or people who need detail. First and last tour with Trafalgar. We did the Imperial Europe tour, and they don't provide any details as to bus travel time or when you'll be free to do whatever you want until the day of. You will spend about half the tour on a full bus. A quarter of the bus came down with COVID (including us) and there were no rules to ensure that everyone else wouldn't get sick. Hotels were good (except Salzburg), provided meals were awful. We didn't get to do the one additional tour that we actually wanted to do. It was canceled on the way, and we wasted the entire day waiting to move on to the next city. Barely had any time to do our own thing. Were hustled from one city to the next, and didn't have one morning to sleep in.

Horrible customer service. So sad that Costco is represented by them! No call backs! Tried contacting them but no response. Have read many horrible reviews on their packages. Not taking a chance with them! AAA has better in person service.

My Trafalgar experience-So after losing the entire amount of trip to Trafalgar they graciously sent me 2 vouchers for $600 ea. REALLY- like i would use this company again quite the scam going on here

Sirs, I booked a tour (B860570) with your company last May as an 42nd Anniversary present. The trip is coming up in March. We had a family crisis as we had to take temporary custody of a 9 yr old girl from an abuse family . I contacted your customer service as this issue with the child would not be resolved before our trip hoping to change the dates. The representative stated my options would be to pay a cancellation penalty at $876.50 or he could change dates of our travel, which I wanted to do. I stated that I would contact Airlines then reach back and change the dates of travel. After arrangements with Airlines, I called Trafalgar back to change the dates. The young lady now assisting me stated the I could not change dates that I had to pay cancellation rate of $1753.00. I explained that the previous agent a few days earlier stated I could change dates. I had a reference number from the initial conversation as I wrote everything down and He said that he would apply notes of what we discussed. This did not matter to the young lady, she stated that this was NOT an option now. My only option now was to pay the inflated cancellation price. I explained all this to her, but it didn't matter to her. Now we have lost the trip as well as $1753.00. I know this most likely doesn't matter to a large company like yourself. I was not trying to take advantage of any situation but only had a little girl's best interest at heart. We trusted your company with a once in a lifetime trip and this is what we received in return. Well I never thought that I would be writing a bad review but I am. Back in June of this year the wife and I booked a three week (the best of Greece) vacation tour to through Trafalgar. We paid for travel insurance not knowing we would need it. Traveling from Los Angeles we arrived in Greece and was informed that our luggage was lost. We filed a claim with the airport and when we walked out to get our ride to the hotel, there was no one there. I called the trafalgar number for transportation and was told that we had to take a taxi to the hotel because the driver couldn't wait any longer. The taxi was about $60 dollars total, whereas I paid trafalgar $50 per person. Since we had no luggage or clothes, we went shopping for a suitcase and clothes just to get by. We made the best of a bad situation. I even called my travel agent who said everything will be taken care of when we returned home just save receipts. At the end of our Athens site seeing trip, we took a 6 hour fast ferry from Athens to Santorini for the next three days. We had a great time. We took an island hopper back to Athens for a one night stay at the hotel and then to the airport to travel back to Los Angeles. Well, while on the flight from Santorini the travel guide informed us that we didn't have transfer vouchers to board the bus to the hotel. So we took another taxi to the hotel. When we made it home, I filed my insurance claims with the insurance company for luggage and clothes and I filed a claim with Trafalgar for the two taxis that we had to use. The insurance company paid right away. But being a repeat customer of Trafalgar I was SCHOCKED that they had refused to reimburse me for my out of pocket cost. I even said I paid for a service that I didn't receive and wanted a refund for that. Again denied. My travel agent felt so bad that she eventually came out of pocket and paid us. I WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

We did the Wonders of Egypt Tour. Overall the tour was very good. Our Tour Guide Adel was Outstanding- knowledgeable caring kind funny and made sure we all stayed safe. We learned so much not just about ancient history but about Egypt, Islam and the world in that area. We were there when the war broke out with Hamas. The busses were excellent as well. My one major complaint was that they said our trip on the Nile would be on one of three ships and then it was not. It was on a much smaller older ship and the rooms were super tiny. It was clean but the rooms felt "unclean" in a sense, the carpets being old and just no room to move around wiht two people. But the staff and service was the best I"ve ever had anywhere.

We have now used Trafalgar for three trips. Booking a trip could not be easier. They booked our trip to Italy, a 15 day excursion to Greece, the Greek Isles, and Turkey and also a trip to some of the National Parks i.e. Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, and also some great stops in Az to start the tour and ended the tour in Las Vegas. Every trip was outstanding with everything being taken care of from start to finish. The cost were reasonable and the service from the booking agent to our guides, transportation, and hotels were all superb. Trafalgar leaves nothing to chance and since covid have added wellness directors to be available on the trips. I don't think you can beat the service and the experiences that Trafalgar provides. We are in the planning stages our next two trips one to the Holy Land and Jordan, and taking our adult children and spouse for a family vacation to Italy. Do yourself a favor and look into Trafalgar for all your travel needs.

Just returned from Trafalgar's Best of Greece tour. I can not say enough about how wonderful this experience was for me and my son. Our tour director Ioannis was the absolute best for every aspect. His knowledge of the sites, the history, the local foods, and people were far above what I expected. His organization of the trip was unparalleled. He made sure we left on-time, got to the sites before all the crowds, and created a schedule where you never felt rushed but felt like you saw everything you could. We did not take the optional tour of Santorini instead of opting to go to Mykonos for the sandy beaches and night life. The only hiccup to the trip was Air Canada who I will now call Air Cant-ada. Our luggage was left behind in Denver and we had to spend the first 4 days scrounging for necessities and additional clothes that we washed in the sink. Again, Ioannis came to the rescue. When the bags finally arrives in Greece, he coordinated with AC to have them meet us in Delphi and with the hotel to pick them up at the local bus station and bring them to our room. We also never took any of our pre-booked flights on AC. They were either delayed for equipment issues our outright cancelled. When booking this trip from the US or Canada, specify you DO NOT want to fly with AC. If you are looking at this trip, please understand it is NOT for those with mobility issues. My fitness app said I climbed over 112 flight and walked over 50 miles. The paths are often uneven and the stones can be slippery as these are over 4000 years old. The bus was new and the driver was amazing. We went to a olive oil farm and tried different flavors with a great dinner. There was a trip to a honey farm where we donned bee keepers suits and learned about bees and honey production also tasting many varieties. Ignoring AC, I'd give this tour a 10/10. YAMAS!!!

Is Trafalgar tours worth it?

Now that we know a little more about what Trafalgar Tours offers, the next question is - are their tours worth it?

The short answer is yes!

Trafalgar Tours is an excellent choice if you're looking for an all-inclusive tour. Choose Trafalgar if you want someone else to take care of everything from accommodation to transfers to meals. With over 70 years of experience, they know how to create unforgettable vacations.

However, trips can get strenuous, especially with daily train travel. Discuss your interests with Trafalgar's customer service if you're looking for a more relaxed vacation. They can help you create a more customized trip that still includes all the best parts of a Trafalgar tour.

There have been reports of departure delays and itinerary changes. While this is rare, it's best to prepare yourself for the possibility. Make sure you have travel insurance and read reviews before booking anything.

But overall, we think Trafalgar Tours is worth it! But only if you're looking for a stress-free tour that's well-organized. But if it's a more relaxed vacation you're after, consider other travel organizers like  Intrepid Travel  and  EF Go Ahead .

Our ratings: 3.6/5

  • Tours in 72 countries
  • All-inclusive tours
  • Experienced and passionate local guides
  • Committed to responsible travel
  • 24-hour customer service
  • Poor accommodation choice
  • Frequent trip postponements
  • Poor customer service support
  • Failure to refund upon cancellation

All set to book your Trafalgar tour?

Now that we've answered whether Trafalgar tour's worth it, it's time to consider whether a tour is the right travel option for you. While tours like Trafalgar takes care of everything for you, planning your own trip can be so much more worth it.
