I was very very disappointed. Elizabeth was who I had been seeing and had been happy with the way she was doing my hair, until yesterday. I thought I was getting my blonde highlights I had been getting. She knew I liked the blonde with darker underneath. She didn't even ask before she started she just mixed some dark up and started putting it on. Told her I was growing the back out and only need less then 1/2 inch she cut it all off. Also told her I thought it was going to be more blonde when she was done. All one color with very light highlights. Disappointed that she doesn't ask her clients before just doing what she wants to do. Will not recommend her to family or friends also will not return myself. Paid $110.00 for highlights and cut. I have short hair to begin with and she just cut it shorter. Disappointed and hope the owner would call and make it right. Funny I always thought that the client should be happy when they leave after getting there hair done. I was not and did not make a return appointment.

Plane passenger called ‘incredibly rude’ for refusing to switch seats hours into transatlantic journey

A passenger on a plane from Europe to the US was called “incredibly rude” after refusing to switch seats for a woman who wanted to get away from a crying baby .

An unidentified man wrote about the kerfuffle on Reddit last week in a post that has now gone viral. According to the forum site, the man, 34, and his wife, 36, were flying back from Dublin to Washington DC. They had been assigned the middle and window seats but ended up having the entire row to themselves when one of the passengers didn’t show.

Before the aircraft left the gate, the man took the aisle seat and his wife took the window seat. About five hours into the flight, a woman who had been sitting across from the couple approached them with a friend and demanded that the friend sit in the row’s middle seat.

“She did not ask - she told us this was happening,” the man wrote.

The passenger asked if a flight attendant agreed to the change and the woman said yes. Not sure whether to believe her, he called over a flight attendant who said that the agreement was that the friend could take an available aisle seat but could not disrupt anyone’s seating arrangements.

The female passenger then started to complain about how the man wasn’t assigned the aisle seat and shouldn’t have been sitting in it anyway. He said he had been sitting in the seat for five hours when she approached him, adding that he and his partner had their items all over the area.

The woman and the friend then went to speak to the flight attendant in private for about five minutes. She returned and then yelled at him, saying “Her friend would not be sitting there - not because she was not allowed to, but because I was so incredibly rude”. She proceeded to call him a “f*****g a*****e”.

The man said he kept his eyes on the show as she berated him.

“The only thing I did this entire time was ask to talk to the flight attendant. I did not say anything else to this woman, though I would have liked to,” he said.

Reddit commenters were divided on how to respond but a few noted that had the woman asked politely, the situation might have had a different outcome.

Nicole Campoy Jackson, a travel expert, writer and advisor for Fora Travel, said that asking the flight attendant for help “was the right move” in an interview with People .

“I am always in the camp of getting a flight attendant involved for sticky in-flight situations,” she said. “Tensions run high when we’re traveling plus they would know, for example, if there was another aisle seat or another solution to this problem. They have more context than we, the passengers, do.”

Igor Rikalo is President and COO at o9 Solutions .

2024 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs. This year, more ESG requirements and regulations are coming into effect that will impact companies on a global scale . Whether companies are driven by adhering to regulations, stakeholder pressures or wanting to gain greater transparency into their suppliers’ sourcing, many companies are still incorporating sustainability goals and ESG reporting into their core business purpose.

It’s no different at my company, o9. Depending on the industry, 80% or more of a company’s emissions footprint can come from its supply chain , and helping organizations gain a greater understanding of how they are planning and deploying resources within their supply chain has been part of our mission from the start.

We began our ESG journey in 2021 and have experienced the challenges and triumphs of incorporating stewardship of our planet’s resources into our core business operations and solutions. While we are still in the early stages of what is a decade-long journey, I believe that the following four areas of focus can set a strong foundation and can be applied to any organization’s ESG program.

1. Be clear about your "why."

In order for ESG initiatives and strategies to gain strong buy-in across the business, it’s key to understand your organization’s specific “why” in prioritizing ESG. By taking the time to define your focus on ESG and gain insights into how this aligns with your mission, culture and business objectives, you’ll establish the foundation needed to develop a "North Star" that will be beneficial in determining how the business will move forward.

Google Chrome Deadline 72 Hours To Update Or Delete Your Browser

The fed quietly ‘admits’ gold is replacing the dollar as collapse ‘fear’ predicted to trigger a $15.7 trillion etf bitcoin price gold flip, apple loop iphone 16 pro details ios 18 s ai plans iphone 14 pro special offer.

When beginning o9’s ESG journey, we closely analyzed our reasons through the lens of supply chain and business planning. We realized we wanted to establish a best-in-class approach to understanding our environmental and social impacts and how to bring sustainability goals into the end-to-end supply chain planning process.

We established a dedicated sustainability team to drive this function of our business and consulted with key stakeholders and leaders within the company to set priorities and expectations for the program. We then established social impact as a core value of the organization so that our workforce understood that this is a key aspect of our culture.

2. Establish working groups and an executive committee.

Building buy-in and engagement across the organization is a critical aspect of a strong ESG program. This can be accomplished by forming a dedicated department focused on ESG, as well as working groups and executive committees to support and guide initiatives.

For example, our working groups of cross-departmental stakeholders are able to bring specific expertise to help meet compliance requirements, align ESG and business goals, identify potential risks and opportunities and maintain accountability for achieving the project’s KPIs.

We established a Sustainability Executive Committee of key senior leaders within the company and also developed an initiative to tie a portion of executive pay to meet each phase of our ESG plan. To ensure that ESG initiatives took hold across all departments and that we were progressing toward our intended goals, we established a sustainability council in 2024 whose members come from our legal, HR, finance, procurement, R&D, product and services teams to enable greater visibility into how we are executing our ESG strategy.

3. Collect internal ESG data.

Gathering internal data to establish an ESG program’s baseline and path forward is critical but is also very time-intensive. Even before collecting internal data, organizations should determine which frameworks (for example, CDP , GRESB , GRI , SASB , SBTi ) and metrics (carbon footprint, water usage, energy efficiency, ethical conduct, privacy and data security, DEI, employee wellbeing and more) they will measure, track and report on within their organization and with external suppliers and vendors.

Once these aspects have been established and internal data collection begins, working groups and committees come in handy to collaborate to collect and organize data and to more equitably share in the responsibility and actionable steps.

One of the initial steps we took on our ESG journey was to sign a letter of commitment to STBi and begin collecting data to set targets and create a carbon reduction strategy. To work toward this, we collaborated closely with our sustainability and product management teams to build a tool to help us visualize emissions hotspots across our business and, therefore, identify and address potential issues early on. Since 2022, we’ve evaluated and monitored sustainability risks associated with working with our vendor network.

4. Engage with third parties to verify data.

Another essential step is to work with third-party assurance providers to ensure that the relevant data that is measured, tracked and included in ESG reports is reviewed and verified for accuracy. By verifying data and results through a reputable third party, organizations can reduce the risk of greenwashing while also gaining an unbiased perspective of where there is room for improvement. Additionally, working with third-party assurance providers signals to your business partners that your organization’s data is accurate, and this helps create greater transparency across the full value chain.

In 2022, we submitted our data to a third-party assurance provider, and our data received limited assurance, which is a more restricted assurance. Throughout this process, we consulted with external parties and our investors. To ensure greater accuracy and transparency, we decided to develop a supplier engagement program to gain a better understanding of our suppliers’ carbon footprints and ESG journeys.

On any ESG journey, there will be challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities to improve and expand. As we continue to evolve our program, we’re focused on creating a positive legacy through our company’s mission.

Our new North Star is to become a "Net Positive" company —a concept created by Paul Polman and Andrew Winston—and strive to improve the planet as well the lives of all who our company touches, from customers and suppliers to employees and communities. In the end, we feel that this approach allows our ESG initiatives to act as a catalyst for positive transformational global outcomes.

Invisalign: Transforming Smiles, Unveiling the Journey’s Timeline

How Long Does Invisalign Take To Work?

Braces? Been there, done that. If you’re dreaming of a straighter smile but traditional braces aren’t exactly your idea of fun, there is some good news for you. Modern orthodontics now offers clear, plastic teeth trays called aligners, and the most famous brand is Invisalign. Many people now ask: How long does Invisalign take to work?

What is Invisalign?

How Long Does Invisalign Take To Work?

Forget the metal mouth flashbacks. Invisalign is the new way to straighten your teeth, and it’s a game-changer. Instead of bulky braces, you get a set of clear, custom-made aligners. These bad boys are practically invisible, so you can smile wide without anyone knowing you’re undergoing a dental makeover.

Plus, comfort and flexibility are built in. Unlike braces, the aligners are removable. Brushing and flossing become a breeze (no more working around brackets and wires!). They also pop out for meals and snacks, making life a lot less restrictive.

Invisalign isn’t just for teenagers anymore. This treatment is a great option for adults too, whether you’re dealing with crowded teeth, stubborn gaps, or even some bite problems. The aligners gradually shift your teeth into place over time, with each new set getting you closer to your dream smile. It’s a slow and steady process, but the results are worth it.

How Long Does Invisalign Take to Work

How long does Invisalign take to work? The duration of Invisalign treatment varies based on individual dental needs and the complexity of the case. On average, Invisalign treatment takes about 12 to 18 months. However, some patients may see significant results in as little as six months, while more complex cases might extend beyond 18 months.

Several factors influence the length of your Invisalign treatment:

Complexity of Your Case

If your dental issues are minor, such as slight overcrowding or small gaps, your treatment may be shorter. More complex problems, like significant misalignment or bite issues , will typically require a longer treatment period.

Adherence to Wear Schedule

For optimal results, it’s crucial to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. Consistently following this schedule ensures that your teeth move as planned and helps keep the treatment timeline on track.

Regular Check-Ups

Keeping up with scheduled check-ups with your Invisalign provider is essential. These appointments allow your provider to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments, helping to avoid delays in your treatment.

Switching Aligners

You’ll typically switch to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks, as directed by your provider. Sticking to this schedule is vital for maintaining steady progress.

While the average treatment duration provides a general idea, your Invisalign provider will give you a more accurate estimate based on your specific dental needs.

Treatment Process & Timeline

Stage 1: initial consultation.

Alright, let’s break down the Invisalign initial consultation. This first meeting is where you meet a certified provider who assesses your teeth and discusses your goals. It’s crucial to determine if Invisalign is the right fit for you.

The provider will conduct a thorough exam, likely including X-rays, photos, and even 3D scans of your teeth. These scans create a detailed digital model, essentially a blueprint for your personalized treatment plan.

This consultation is your chance to learn the ropes. The provider will explain how Invisalign works, the estimated duration, and the associated costs. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and voice any concerns you might have. Transparency is key.

The highlight? Using the 3D model, the provider will map out a precise plan for your teeth’s movement, even offering a virtual glimpse of your future smile. By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of the process and the potential outcome.

Stage 2: Fitting & First Set of Aligners

After your initial consultation, the next steps are fitting and receiving your custom aligners. These are built specifically for you based on the 3D scan from your consultation. Once the fitting is good, you’ll get your first few sets of aligners, each designed to be worn for two weeks.

Wear time is key. Aim for 20–22 hours a day, only removing them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Consistency is crucial for smooth progress. New aligners might feel unusual at first, sometimes causing pressure. This is temporary, usually lasting a few days. It simply means the aligners are working to move your teeth.

Gradual progress with steady results. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place, with a new set every two weeks. Regular check-ups with your provider ensure everything’s on track and allow for adjustments if needed. This is your roadmap to a straighter smile, one aligner at a time.

Stage 3: The Treatment Process

How long does Invisalign take to work? The treatment process with Invisalign involves wearing your aligners daily and following a structured schedule. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, gradually moving your teeth closer to their final position. Here’s what you can expect during this phase:

Daily Wear and Care

You need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. Only remove them when eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, and flossing. It’s essential to clean your aligners regularly by brushing them gently and rinsing them in lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the plastic.

Managing Common Experiences

It’s normal to experience some discomfort when starting a new set of aligners. This discomfort usually means the aligners are working. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help if needed. Some people also notice slight changes in their speech when they first start wearing aligners, but this usually improves as they get used to them.

Staying On Track

Sticking to the recommended schedule is key to the success of your treatment. Missing days or not wearing the aligners for the recommended amount of time can extend the overall treatment duration. Set reminders if needed, and keep your aligners in their case when not in use to avoid losing them.

Stage 4: Monitoring Progress and Adjustments

Throughout your Invisalign treatment, monitoring your progress is essential to ensure everything is on track. Here’s what you need to know about this stage:

Adherence to the Treatment Plan

It’s important to follow the treatment plan outlined by your provider. Wearing the aligners as prescribed—20 to 22 hours a day—ensures your teeth move as planned. Consistency is key to achieving the desired results within the estimated timeline.

When to Contact Your Provider

If you encounter any issues, such as significant discomfort, broken aligners, or if an aligner doesn’t seem to fit properly, contact your provider promptly. Addressing these issues quickly can prevent delays in your treatment and ensure your teeth continue to move as planned.

In addition to at-home monitoring, regular check-ups with your provider are necessary. These appointments allow your provider to assess your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and provide you with your next sets of aligners. These check-ups are typically scheduled every six to eight weeks.

Stage 5: The Final Steps

As you near the end of your Invisalign treatment, you will transition into the final stages, which are crucial for ensuring long-lasting results. Here’s what to expect during this phase:

Transitioning to the Last Set of Aligners

The final set of aligners plays a key role in refining the last details of your teeth alignment. It’s important to continue wearing them as prescribed until your provider confirms that your treatment is complete. This set helps solidify the movements achieved throughout the treatment.

Final Check-Up and Assessment

Once you’ve worn your last set of aligners for the recommended period, you’ll have a final check-up with your provider. During this appointment, your provider will assess the overall results of the treatment, ensuring that your teeth are aligned correctly and that your bite is properly adjusted. They may take new X-rays or impressions to verify the outcome.

Potential Need for Refinement Aligners

In some cases, slight adjustments may still be necessary after the initial treatment period. Your provider might recommend refinement aligners to address any minor corrections needed to perfect your smile. These additional aligners are typically included in your treatment plan and are an important step in achieving the best results.

Ensuring the Best Results

Following your provider’s instructions during this final phase is critical. Wearing the aligners as directed and attending all scheduled appointments will help ensure that your teeth are in their optimal position at the end of the treatment.

Stage 6: Post-Treatment Care

Once you’ve completed your Invisalign treatment, maintaining your new smile is essential. Proper post-treatment care ensures that your teeth remain in their new positions and that your investment in a straighter smile lasts.

Importance of Retainers

After your final aligner, you’ll need to wear a retainer. Retainers prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original positions. Your provider will guide you on how long and how often to wear your retainer, which is crucial for maintaining your new alignment.

Types of Retainers

There are different types of retainers, including removable and fixed options:

  • Removable Retainers: These are similar to your Invisalign aligners and can be taken out when eating or brushing your teeth.
  • Fixed Retainers: These are bonded to the back of your teeth and stay in place permanently, providing constant support to keep your teeth aligned.

Caring for Your Retainers

Taking care of your retainers is important for both your dental health and the longevity of the retainers:

  • Clean removable retainers regularly by brushing them gently and rinsing them in lukewarm water.
  • Avoid using hot water, which can warp the plastic.
  • For fixed retainers, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing around them carefully.

Maintaining Oral Hygiene

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is vital after Invisalign treatment. Continue with regular brushing and flossing, and visit your dentist for routine check-ups and cleanings. Good oral hygiene will help preserve your new smile and prevent any dental issues.

Long-Term Care Tips

To ensure your smile stays beautiful:

  • Wear your retainer as instructed by your provider.
  • Maintain regular dental visits.
  • Avoid habits that can damage your teeth, like chewing on hard objects.

Monitoring Your Smile

Keep an eye on any changes in your teeth alignment. If you notice any shifting, contact your provider to address the issue promptly. Early intervention can prevent more significant problems and ensure your smile remains perfect.

Post-treatment care is a vital part of your Invisalign journey. By following these guidelines and staying diligent with your retainer use and oral hygiene, you can enjoy the results of your treatment for years to come.

Dentofacial Orthopedics

You may have noticed that  Dr. Brian Hohlen  is a specialists trained in “Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.” While most people have heard of orthodontics, many are confused by the “dentofacial orthopedics” part of the title. We can explain!

Every orthodontist graduates from dental school. Upon completion of dental school, some graduates immediately go into general practice as dentists. Others choose to pursue a dental specialty, which requires advanced training in a two- to three-year speciality program.

There are nine specialties sanctioned by the American Dental Association. Some you are likely familiar with are Pediatric Dentistry (dentistry for children), Periodontics (dentistry focusing on the gums), and Oral Surgery.

One of the nine specialties is “Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.” You probably know that an orthodontist straightens teeth, and indeed: “ortho” comes from the Greek for “straight” or “correct,” and “dontic” from the Greek for “teeth.” But what about dentofacial orthopedics? “Dentofacial” is “teeth” plus “face” while “ortho” again means “straight” and “pedic” is from the Greek for “child.”

Essentially, while orthodontics entails the management of tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics involves the guidance of facial growth and development, which occurs largely during childhood. In both cases, appliances are frequently used – the more familiar braces for orthodontics, and other specialized appliances like expanders depending on what facial abnormalities are present.

Sometimes orthopedic treatment may precede conventional braces, but often the two are accomplished at the same time. So if your child gets braces and a growth modification appliance, he’s undergoing orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics!

Because Dr. Hohlen is a trained specialist in both areas, he is able to diagnose any misalignments in the teeth and jaws as well as the facial structures, and can devise a treatment plan that integrates both orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments.

Remember, a general dentist is not a specialist in orthodontics or dentofacial orthopedics.
