Captain & Owner Jens Kalwa

Growing up on the East Coast of Vancouver Island and on the water since he was 13 years old, Jens knows the ocean like the back of his hand. "learning from my father how to drive boats, catch fish and behave around ocean wildlife, was the start to my big interest in everything that involved the ocean. It became my passion to be in or on the water wether it was surfing and getting to know the changes of ocean swells and tides or being on the boat to observe marine wildlife". He made his passion to his Career in the year of 2007 when he moved to Tofino and started Adventure Tofino Wildlife Tours. With so many larger tour operators already established in Tofino, my goal was to provide a different wildlife experience for my guests, tours in smaller groups and with a more personal touch. "Right from the start I received great support. Friends which already worked in Tofino as tour guides would share their knowledge with me and people who liked what I was offering would sent their guests my way. This was a very positive start and I am very thankful for that".

Now with two boats in operation and with the support of a small team of great people, I am excited that together we can let people from all over the world be part of this adventure."

Captain Jeffrey Warden

Jeff joined our team in 2018 after guiding tours in Tofino's waters since 2016. Jeff is a real adventurer with a great personality and a huge love for the ocean and  wildlife.

When you are on a tour with Jeff and you listen to how he talks about the animals, with passion and in his deep and calm voice, you just don't want to stop listening!

His love for the ocean makes him want to be on, in and above it. He loves scuba diving,  flying airplanes and skydiving.

When Jeff is not on the water he is in 10000ft hight skydiving over Long beach and spotting whales from up there as a Tandem Instructor from Point Break Skydiving in Tofino.

Captain Jordan Koroll

Jordan was born and raised in a beautiful small lakeside town in Central Ontario, Canada. From an early age, watersports were an avid passion of his and through his travels wildlife became a great focus in his life. He paired the two by studying an Honors Bachelor of Health Sciences with a specialization in mammalian anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.

His inquisitive nature and deep passion for both the cultural and natural history of many areas of the world have allowed him to guide in some incredible places. Bouncing from Canada’s Sub-Arctic with the King of the North’s beautiful polar bears, to the ends of the earth guiding kayak expeditions around the Antarctic continent. Jordan always looks forward to heading back to BC’s beautiful West Coast for the summer seasons. The Pacific Northwest wildlife draws him back time and time again, but when he is not skippering on the water you can find him running along the local trails, enjoying a nice early morning paddle, or sipping a delicious cup of coffee in town.

Our two boats "Azonic" and "Guardian 2" which we use for all of our tours are open 26 ft Zodiacs which take up to 12 passengers.

UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURES ON THE SUNSHINE COAST

a close up of a sign

"We enjoyed seeing beautiful scenery and hearing from our guide/boat captain, Brent, information about the history of the inlet with stops along the way for points of interest. The Chatterbox Falls were beautiful and we enjoyed the fire Brent built in the covered picnic area along with the snacks provided."

"We booked this last minute. A RIB trip across the inlet to see some spectacular falls and an exploration of some of the bays and inlets. Our guide/captain was knowledgeable, friendly and safe as we shot across the water at 30 knots."

"We booked our party of 4 on the Princess Louisa Inlet to chatterbox falls. This bucket list item has really topped my list of places to see. One will not be disappointed at all to do this trip. Not only is the boat ride full of fun and excitement - the scenery going up and back was fantastic."

"Our captain was very friendly and knowledgeable and there isn't one thing they could have done better for us. PS the water is too calm. This is the easiest and most laid back kayaking you will ever do. It's suited for anyone, including if you have never kayaked."

Hello Nature Tours is a family run business, locally owned and operated by Kevin and Alicia Bradshaw. We started Hello Nature to share the connection we have to the islands, culture, and history of the remarkable wilderness we call home.

We are based in Ucluelet, British Columbia- the gateway to some of the West Coast’s best kayaking destinations – the Barkley Sound, Broken Group Islands, and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve . We respectfully recognize that we operate on Nuu-cha-nulth First Nations traditional territory.

We started this company to make a change in the industry, focusing on our belief that environmental stewardship and local partnerships that protect our home and environment are at the heart of what we believe in.

Kevin and Phill have been passionate about sharing the West Coast through kayak tours, and through Hello Nature Adventure Tours they are pleased to offer tours ranging from short half-day tours to week-long adventures – an opportunity for all to experience the wildness of Vancouver Island.

To immerse yourself in nature is to fully be here and experience the remarkable wilderness of British Columbia. Whether you are an experienced or novice sea kayaker looking to experience something new, we will find the right experience for you. We look forward to sharing our backyard with you.

A Commitment to Environmental Protection

Kayaking the west coast means protecting the west coast. Ocean kayaking relies on clean oceans, healthy ecosystems, and partnerships with environmental stewards to make what we do possible. Take only memories, leave only footprints.

Hello Nature Adventure Tours has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge , to demonstrate our commitment to improving the sustainability performance of our business between now and 2030.

The UN World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities.”

Each year, we commit to measuring and improving our sustainability performance in the following ways:

increasing the amount of beach clean ups we offer every year by converting our day trip into an adventure with a purpose; supporting our community with subsidized youth programs; tracking and reducing our water and electricity usage; promote our leave no trace ethics; educate our guest about the local environment and culture; build meaningful partnerships with local communities and take measurable steps towards reconciliation.

Low Impact Wildlife Watching Tours

Wildlife viewing by kayak provides remarkable opportunities to quietly watch, observe, and witness the breathtaking beauty of animals in their natural habitat.

The team behind Hello Nature Adventure Tours has spent decades building up knowledge, learning the patterns and habits of the wildlife, and practicing responsible tourism through kayak touring to ensure we keep our wildlife safe and happy in our waters.

Sustainable Tourism for the Future

Responsible tourism is the key to a healthy ocean ecosystem. Each year, Hello Nature Adventure Tours donates a portion of its profits to local environmental groups to support the work that they do to protect our ecosystems. These groups include Surfrider Pacific Rim , Raincoast Education Society , and Clayoquot Action .

Through beach cleans, wildlife guidelines and low impact standards – each destination visited must be left better than we found it.

Kayaking Protected Waters with Kayak Guides

The Broken Group Islands and Barkley Sound offer unprecedented access to nature’s finest. The islands have numerous archaeological sites, protected waters, and abundant intertidal life.

Our guides are knowledgeable and connected to these areas, practicing low impact best practices and “Leave No Trace” principles.

British Columbia Sea Kayaking and Whale Watching Tours

Kayak with orcas  in the BEST spot on the planet: Johnstone Strait in British Columbia.  Over 220 fish-eating killer whales congregate in this Vancouver Island Passage each summer to feast on the prolific salmon that are concentrated in the strait. The sheltered waters of Johnstone Strait create ideal conditions for any anxious paddler looking for a sensational British Columbia sea kayaking experience, as these waterways are generally calm, and host phenomenal marine life like dolphins, humpback whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions, sea birds, and a myriad of fascinating tidal animals as well as the famous orcas.

In addition to killer whales and humpbacks , there are miles upon miles of forested shoreline where bald eagles perch and tall trees reach to the sky. In general, the birding on our kayaking tours is spectacular. Sea lions and seals swim in the waterways along with otters and a multitude of seabirds. Along this magical shoreline, we set up our camps beneath towering cedar, spruce and fir trees.

Our camps feature stand-up, walk-in canvas tents, set up with cots for your comfort. The kitchen is set up underneath the trees while logs and stumps nearby make the perfect seats to accompany the kitchen. Temperatures are moderate throughout the summer months and our camps are chosen for their spectacular locations, and perfectly spaced out for each day’s paddling journey.

We offer a variety of trip lengths, from our 4-day orca or 4-day humpback base camp tours, to our 6-day Blackfish Waters tour and 6-day Broughton Archipelago Expedition .

Additionally, we offer an exclusive lodge-based tour at God’s Pocket Resort – We are the only sea kayaking company on Vancouver Island to offer a kayaking tour based at God’s Pocket Resort. Set in an isolated bay in God’s Pocket Provincial Park, the resort features individual cabins, delicious meals, and is the ideal base for daily sea kayak explorations.

British Columbia Sea Kayaking Tours

Blackfish waters.

Our signature  6-day Blackfish Waters kayak tour makes use of our three permanent camp set ups, where our standing-height canvas tents are set up for the duration of the season. Placed on cedar decks, the tents boast spectacular views of the sea. This trip spends one or two nights at the same camp we use for our orca basecamp tour and your chances of seeing both orcas and humpbacks is very good.

For kayakers with prior experience, we also offer a  sea kayaking tour in Broughton Archipelago Marine Park , complete with a water taxi ride deep into the Broughton Archipelago and a 6-day paddle back to Johnstone Strait, BC. On this trip we spend about half our days in whale waters, and the other half weaving among the enchanted islands of the Broughton Archipelago. For two nights we set up camps in remote, undeveloped areas, so this trip has more of an expeditionary nature to it.

Orca Base Camp

If you are more interested in whale watching than kayaking, and/or you just want to kayak a bit less, then our basecamp tours are an excellent choice. We have semi-permanent camps in two locations. Earlier in the season, before the orcas or killer whales have arrived, we offer our 4-day Humpback Basecamp tour located on Swanson Island. This is a beautiful setting and we often view whales swimming, blowing, and even breaching just in front of camp.

From mid-July and onwards, our orca basecamp is the perfect adventure. On this tour our camps are set up just in front of an orca "rubbing area." This is a pebble-bottomed area of the sea where the orcas come to rub their bellies and sides, making our camp a fantastic place to whale watch. The water is quite clear, and it’s a real thrill when the orcas come by camp.

God's Pocket Resort

For those who prefer warm beds and real showers, our all-inclusive lodge-based trip  at God's Pocket Resort  is just a bit further north in BC inside God's Pocket Provincial Marine Park (rated by Jacques Cousteau as THE best cold water SCUBA dive spot in the world). Our God's Pocket Resort trip is designed for those who wish to experience diverse wildlife, marine mammals and kayaking without having to camp. This 6-day trip spends nights at the remote, tranquil resort and each day we head out for paddles and walks among the islands of the archipelago. Sea Kayak Adventures in British Columbia operates exclusive use of the lodge for our mid-summer kayak tours.

Why kayak bc with us.

Your vacation is our livelihood. Sea Kayak Adventures was born from the sheer love of sharing wilderness adventures with people like you. Our lives are devoted to creating the very finest kayak tour in British Columbia, which we have perfected since 1993. You itinerary is streamlined to maximize your orca and wildlife sightings and relish this natural world. You will be accompanied by charismatic guides who are knowledgeable, committed to your safety, and devoted to giving you memories you will treasure for life. Best of all, our respect for the wild orcas extends to our camping and touring practices. We operate under the strictest, “ Leave-No-Trace ” ethics. Even our Orca Base Camp remains eco-friendly without permanent structures or fueled devices, so you can enjoy the killer whales without harming their habitat.  Rest assured that on a Sea Kayak Adventures trip, you will leave BC as pristine as you found it. ( Read More about SKA Sustainability & our 100% Carbon Offsetting )

Green doesn’t mean lean! Camping with SKA means “getting away from it all,” without “leaving it all behind.” Our tours in British Columbia are fully-catered with gourmet meals prepared daily from scratch like our fresh salmon bake, and daily happy hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres. We provide all of the camping and kayaking gear, from handcrafted fiberglass Seaward Southwind kayaks to easy-to-manage tents, sleeping bags, and sheets. You just need to bring your clothing! Read more about Camping Plus . Better still, all tours include a hydrophone so that when you see the orcas you can listen to their vocalizations while watching them breach and play in the Strait. Sea Kayak Adventures proudly adheres to all Be Whale Wise regulations.

Testimonials.

Over the years, we've provided ‘trips of a lifetime’ for countless travellers from around the world. See what our past guests have to say about their experiences with us.

“Trips on the COLUMBIA III have now become a necessity rather than a passing fancy. Thanks to the splendid crew, the wonderful chef and of course, my esteemed Captain Ross. I will rise again and organize another venture!”

–  Paddy  Victoria BC Whole boat charter, 2011, 2015

“We are truly in awe of the experience you shared with us. The attention to detail and the quality of care you show your guests is outstanding. Fern, the food was incredible, kayaking will always bring back memories of the smells coming from your galley and the camaraderie shared at the table. Ross, your love and enthusiasm for the COLUMBIA III and Mothership Adventures always shows in the stories and knowledge you so freely share. Thank you all for one of the best vacations we’ve ever had, along with the opportunity to share a week in your lives. We can’t thank you enough.”

– 2012  Joan and Michael Collins , Publishers, Sea Kayaker Magazine

“Another amazing trip aboard my favorite boat. It’s like taking our home into the middle of a vast, wild, beautiful wilderness, and then getting to quietly be a part of that natural world. A gentle spirit bear, sparring grizzlies, breaching whales and gorgeous paddling water! And then great food, good humor, amazing stories and wonderful friends. Thank you everyone for a unique and fantastic trip.”

–  Mary, Cour D’Alene  Idaho. 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and whole boat charter 2018, and returning in 2022

“So we travel all the way from England with hope and expectation for a great adventure and what did we get? A bl**dy fantastic adventure! The mix of wildlife, including the elusive Spirit Bear, grizzlies, black bears, wolves, sea otters, eagles and all the rest. Plus guides who know everything about everything!!!!! Plus food that was so, so, so, good, never a scrap was left, plus such great friendship and humour from all the guests and crew. Shame about the Skipper, but can’t have everything I suppose! So many thanks to Ross, Luke, Steve and Farlyn for the best time ever. Such great friends.”

  • How to get to Sunshine Coast, British Columbia?" Sunshine Coast is a Peninsula however there is no bridge to connect with the Mainland Vancouver. It can only be accessed by water or by air. The trip to get here is part of the adventure! If you bring your own car, you must take car ferry through BC ferries’ scheduled service from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to Lansdale in Gibson. During busy summer and holidays, the long waits at both terminals without a ferry reservation could be very frustrating. However, there are two other options that allow you to explore pristine Sunshine Coast hassle-free and more time to enjoy what an authentic West Coastal community has to offer. Option 1. Travel by bike or foot. If you are leaving from Vancouver Downtown area, you can hop on the Bus #257 Horsehoe Bay Express on West Georgia Street. It takes around 45 min depending the traffic and the bus will drop you off in front of the ticket booth. Just make sure to check the ferry departure time ahead. There will be extra $2 for taking a bike. Option 2. Travel by air. A short flight to Sechelt via Habour Air from Vancouver Downtown (March to October) or Sunshine Coast Air from Vancouver International Airport (year around) is very enjoyable. Not only it is quick and convenient, but the scenery is breath-taking.
  • Do you offer pick-up and drop-off service for the tours operated by 7 Adventures? Yes, we offer pick-up & drop-off service in Vancouver Downtown area including all hotels for our tours in Vancouver, Sea to Sky and Okanagan region. We also offer the same service for the tours on the Sunshine Coast. We will pick you up & drop off at Sunshine Coast ferry terminal (Langdale) or at Habour Air / Sunshine Coast Air terminal in Sechelt.
  • Are 7 Adventures tours kid-friendly? Most of tours are kid-friendly except Stawamus Chief Hike & Brewery tasting, Joffre Lakes Hike and Ladies only tours. We also have child seat available. Kindly request prior booking.
  • Does 7 Adventures Tours offer private and customized tours? Yes we do! Just let us know your date of traveling and the time span, area of interests and age of group, we will take care of the rest so you can focus on creating some of the best memories either traveling with your family or friends. The maximum size of the group is six.

We are a group of active like-minded individuals who shares a passion and love of nature. We have been so fortunate to be living in beautiful British Columbia with its outdoor that is second to none in the world. We are extremely proud of our little slice of paradise here on the west coast of Canada, and so we have set out to share it with as many people as we can, thus 7 Adventures was born.

Our company provides unique experiences to any outdoor activity lovers. Feel mentally and spiritually recharged after joining one of our tours, led by our experienced hosts. Enjoy activities of every level safely under their supervision and learn about each location from their in-depth knowledge. We truly believe that the best way to enjoy our beautiful province is with friends, and that is how we see our clients….friends.

Sunshine Coast Escape

Ria is an outstanding host and guide.  She is extremely well organised and informative.  The tour I did with Ria on the Sunshine Coast was exceptionally well planned.  Ria chose just the right moments to stop and observe.  The Smugglers Bay area was a gem.  I strongly recommend tours led by Ria if you value personal service and visits to memorable vistas and places.
