Why should I take the 290 Wine Shuttle over a private tour?

We can sum it up in one word – FREEDOM! Our shuttle gives you access to 15 wineries and breweries with pickups every 15 minutes. You can visit as many, or as few, as you would like on your own schedule. You can’t say the same with a private tour, where you are at the mercy of the tour guide, dawdling guests, and a tight schedule! Choose the option that gives you flexibility, both logistically and economically!

Does the wine shuttle follow a specific route?

Yes, we visit 15 wineries along the 290 Wine Trail and 1 on our Bonus Route. Take a look at the wineries on our route to see which ones you’d like to see.

How long can I stay at each winery?

You can stay at each winery as long as you’d like! With 290 Wine Shuttle, you’re not confined to a schedule. When you’re finished at a winery, just hop on the next shuttle arriving every 15 minutes to get a ride to your next destination. Our shuttle service runs from 10am to 6pm every Saturday.

I forgot to book a pass, can I still use 290 Wine Shuttle?

Maybe. We accommodate walk-ups on a first come, first served basis, but cannot guarantee available space.

Do you accommodate bachelorette parties?

Yes! 290 Wine Shuttle is the perfect activity for bachelorette parties . Our spacious shuttles accommodate groups of all sizes. Best of all ‒ for parties of six or more, brides ride free! With over 100 vineyards and beautiful wineries in the area, it's no wonder that Fredericksburg area wine tours are a top attraction for travelers. Our popular grapes are those grown in the European regions of Tuscany Italy, Provence, and France, as well as Spanish and Portuguese varietals. These include Viognier, Tempranillo, Mouvedre, Marsanne, Rousanne and Malbec. The Texas Hill Country is also becoming famous for its blends.

History buffs have plenty to explore in small-town Fredericksburg. Founded by German immigrants in 1846, you'll see the German influence in the architecture, culture, and food. Fredericksburg Texas is one of the few remaining present day German cultural communities in the US. The 36th President of the United States was born and raised here, and the Lyndon B Johnson National and State historical parks are dedicated to the preservation of early Texas life as they offer a look at the life and times of LBJ and his wife Lady Bird Johnson.

What is your exact location.

Tours may be booked online or over the phone. We do not have a public ticket office. The majority of our tours begin at the Visitor Center in Fredericksburg Texas. Meeting locations are posted in the tour descriptions on the website. Once you have booked your tour you will receive an email confirmation with exact meeting locations and pickup times. Some tours offer local pickup at your location for a small fee.

Do you offer private tours?

Yes. Private Vehicles are available for every tour. Trolleys are also available for weddings , shuttle services, reunions, parties, corporate events, and more. Contact Us for more details.

May I store a stroller on the trolley?

We are required to keep the aisle clear for the safety of all passengers. Most of our guests choose to store their larger belongings in their personal vehicles.

Are the trolleys handicapped accessible?

We currently have two trolleys that are equipped for mobility-impaired individuals. These trolleys are used for our most popular tours. Trolley tours are generally handicapped accessible. Not all tour vehicles are equipped for the mobility-impaired. Please contact us if you have questions about a particular tour.

Can we sit together?

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The trolley is generally open for seating 15 minutes prior to departure.

Are the tours a step-on, step-off service?

No. Tours offer continuous narration. Some tours have pre-planned stops determined as part of each tour that includes narrative. For those passengers requesting to leave the trolley during the tour for special circumstances (unruly children, need for public restroom facilities, etc.) we are unable to make arrangements to let you re-board, and refunds are not provided. We strongly recommend that you make any necessary arrangements before boarding at the beginning of the tour. Tours lasting longer than one hour do include stops that have public restroom facilities.

Are the trolleys air-conditioned?

Absolutely. All of our vehicles are heated and air-conditioned. This is Texas!

Are the trolleys heated?

Yes. Our luxury small coaches will feel as warm as a standard passenger vehicle.

Can we eat or drink on the trolley?

For the consideration of fellow passengers, food and snacks are prohibited aboard the trolley to avoid noise, trash and food smells. Bottled water and coffee cups with lids are fine. By Texas law, no alcohol is allowed to be consumed aboard any of our vehicles.

Do you offer discounts?

We do offer ticket discounts for groups greater than 20 adult persons. We also offer discounts to Military, Retired Military, schools and non-profit organizations when they purchase Group tickets ONLY. Contact us directly for details.

Are group rates available?

Group rates vary by tour. Hourly rates are also available for private transportation for those who are not taking a specific tour posted on our website. Please contact us concerning group or hourly rates.

Where can we park downtown?

There are several options when parking:

• Visitor Center: There is ample free parking behind the Visitor Center where you can park if space is available.
• Street: Parking on the streets is at no cost, subject to availability.

What is the cost for the tour?

The adult ticket fares are listed with each tour. Tickets for children are also listed – please read each tour as age restrictions vary per tour. Children who are younger than three ride for free. However, they will need to sit on a parent’s lap if the trolley is full. We do not have storage for strollers except on the back balcony, nor will we be responsible for strollers. Aisles must be kept free and clear for all tour vehicles. Our 12-passenger luxury coaches have rear storage for small strollers, please let us know in advance if children under three will be riding.

Is there a place on the vehicles to store wine or shopping bags?

The rear balcony of each trolley can hold a limited amount of shopping bags if they do not fit beneath your seat. Please keep in mind that you are solely responsible for your bags and carry on items. Wineries and retailers also offer shipping to most states. We are happy to store your purchases and carry on items on board but have limited space.

Are pets allowed?

• Pets are not allowed unless they are used as Service Animals for the disabled. We do not have accommodations for pets.
• Since March 15, 2011, only dogs are recognized as service animals under titles ii and iii of the ADA.
• Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

Sandy Road Vineyards: Private Treehouse Tasting

Sandy Road Vineyard’s  exclusive, private treehouse experience includes seated wine tastings of six wines with a small food pairing. The treehouse is built on a platform accessed via stairs and nestled underneath beautiful oak trees overlooking the vineyard. The experience lasts one hour.

The owners or winemakers offer education through a tasting experience. This highlights the hill-country scenery. It also provides an authentic taste of Texas terror.

Please note that the treehouse experience is outdoors. In the case of rain, your tasting will be held in the pavilion.

I had no idea that wine country in Texas was so amazing! The wines are really good and the people are down to earth and friendly. Hiring a driver was awesome because I had no idea where to go, wasn't familiar with the area and everyone that wanted to go also wanted to drink. It made for a safe and worry free day. We had been on a wine tour with Wine Tour Pros at their other location in Napa and loved it. They told us about Texas wine country and we knew we had to check it out. They are really different from each other as expected and enjoyable in different ways. The Texas Wine Collective is one place we went where you could taste a great variety of wines. Hye Meadow Winery was our favorite stop of the day. The wines are fantastic and the chill vibe and attentive staff made us feel special during out visit. They had a lot of local there too which is a good sign. They have great sandwiches and cheese boards too. Our driver made sure we stayed hydrated with waters and made great conversation about the area. It's surprising how much development is happening in the Fredericksburg area. Really cool stuff going on and it's really up and coming. I will definitely go back again to explore more vineyards.

We will go where you like and start when it is convienient for you and atay with you as long as you like.

This tour will visit three wineries and includes all tasting fees. This tour includes 5 hrs for 3 winery option and 6 hrs for 4 wineries. After that a charge of $125/hr will be added.

Texas Wine Tours provides experiences that are perfect for bachelorette parties, friend getaways, or large gatherings who want a relaxing, fun tour as part of their Fredericksburg, TX getaway. However, to qualify for a private tour we require 10 or more persons. Less than 10 persons will be paired with other groups going out at the same time. This is a great way to make new friends.

Our regular tours run daily, giving guests a taste of Texas Hill Country wineries, breweries, and distilleries with an emphasis on the greater Fredericksburg area. Guests may choose a 3-stop tour; a 3-stop with lunch; a bachelorette 3-stop tour, or a customized tour tailored just for you.

And of course, we can accommodate private, large group tours, which are perfect for corporate retreats, family reunions, and any large group looking for an experience to bring everyone together.

Tours are hosted in our step-up luxury coaches by our friendly staff who are excited to share their wine knowledge with you and make sure you have a great time. Each tour includes pick up from your local lodging within city limits, beverage tastings, and a comfortable ride. We can even accommodate last minute bookings! If it’s within 48 hours of your desired tour date, please call us to help book your tour.

Want one of our step-up luxury coaches and hospitable guides all to yourself? In addition to our Standard Tours, we also offer private Texas Hill Country wine tours. Our private tours can accommodate up to 25 persons per luxury coach, with the option to rent multiple vehicles and even the entire fleet, which can hold a total of 150 persons. These are great for bachelorette parties, friends’ weekends, corporate outings, and more! Private tours are great opportunities for groups to bond and get to know each other better in a safe environment where every detail is accounted for. Our staff will work with you to ensure your winery tour is exactly what you want to make for a truly memorable occasion.

Please remember we require 10 or more persons to qualify for a private tour. Less than 10 persons will be paired with other groups.

The Sapphire Tour is one of our most popular tours. Taste wine at three wineries in the Texas Hill Country and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant on Main Street, Fredericksburg. All tasting fees and lunch are included in this package.

This tour starts at 11:30 a.m., allowing guests time to sleep in and/or enjoy breakfast in town, when we pick everyone up from their hotels or B&B’s and then plot a course for the Fredericksburg Texas Hill Country Wine Trail.

We begin at each winery with a wine tasting, usually consisting of a sample of 5 or 6 wines, and as guests finish their individual tastings, they may spend a little time browsing around gift shops, picking out bottles of wine, or purchasing a glass of wine to sit and be social, while enjoying the ambiance of the venue.

Live music is offered at many local wineries on Saturdays afternoons and on some holidays, and depending on the venue, the music can range from a soulful soloists or a fun duet, to a full band bringing everyone to their feet to dance and celebrate.

After folks have had a little time to enjoy the atmosphere at each winery, your guide will round everyone up and get back on the road toward your next great destination.

After a wonderful afternoon filled with sipping wine at some of the best Texas Wineries, we’ll take you back to your lodging, usually between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., in plenty of time to freshen up before dinner and whatever nighttime adventures you have planned in Fredericksburg, Texas or the surrounding areas.

• Tasting Fees Included

All of your tasting fees are included in this package. Your guide will take care of the fees, you should only need money if you wish to purchase a glass or bottle of wine, gifts or to tip your server.

Hotel and B&B Pickup & Drop-off

Pick-up from your hotel or B&B located within 5 miles of downtown Fredericksburg is included with this tour, and pickup from areas as far off as San Antonio or Austin may be arranged as well.

Professional Guide

Our guides will be with you throughout your tour. We will give you space to enjoy your tour, but be close enough to answer questions and ensure that you are enjoying your time at the wineries.

Lunch Included

Lunch at a local restaurant in Fredericksburg is included with this package. We pickup the food tab. Beer, wine and cocktails are also available for guests who wish to purchase an adult beverages.

We maintain preferred status with all of the wineries and schedule appointments ahead of time, so you don't waste time waiting for the service that you deserve.

We want our guests to enjoy their tours, and to feel great when they are done too. We bring bottled water with us on our tours to keep you hydrated and quench your thirst.
