Cruise Drink Packages

Explore cruise offerings for cocktails, wine, beer, soda and more.

Cruise drink packages can provide incredible value for people who plan to regularly imbibe on their voyage and want the convenience of an unlimited open bar package – whereas they may not be a good deal for light drinkers. Other options include alcohol-free drink packages, which let cruisers indulge in soft drinks, hot chocolate, specialty coffees and a range of other nonalcoholic beverages.

Whether or not to get the drink package is a question all cruisers face, and there's no perfect answer for everyone. Read on to learn about the drink packages offered by the major cruise lines and what each beverage package includes.

Expert tip: The price of each beverage package will vary from sailing to sailing and may change at any time. Also note that cruise drink packages are almost always nontransferable and nonrefundable, and that everyone in your cabin needs to buy a package. If kids are cruising with adults who purchase an alcoholic drink package, a nonalcoholic package must be purchased for them.

  • Soft drinks, coffee and tea during meals
  • Nonalcoholic beverages offered at drink stations throughout the ship
  • Soft drinks served at the Vibe lounge for teens

Disney also lets cruisers prepay for specialty packages of wine, Champagne, beer or seltzers, although available packages can vary by departure port. As an example, cruise passengers departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, can pre-purchase a seven-bottle premium wine package for $330, a six-pack of beer for $36.25, or a six-pack of Truly seltzers for $32.50, among many other options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drink packages can be worth it on a cruise if you consume enough beverages to justify the cost of a package. If a drink package you're considering costs $85 per day, for example, you can try to estimate whether you would drink enough alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees and sodas to add up to or exceed this cost.

If you're a light drinker, these packages may not be a good deal for you at all.

Because drink packages are frequently discounted before a cruise, it makes sense to buy one pre-departure if you can. Also note that some cruise lines only offer drink packages on the day of embarkation and stop offering them for the rest of the cruise.

Cruise drink packages can never be shared. With all the major cruise lines, each guest in your cabin must purchase a package.

Matador Original Series

The best cruise line drink packages for every budget.

I t can be a total buzzkill to constantly pull out your wallet on vacation. If you’re planning a cruise one way around that is to take advantage of cruise line drink packages. Going all-inclusive means you pay a flat daily fee upfront for all the wine, beer, soda, coffee, tea, and cocktails you can possibly drink.

Cruise line drink packages are a way to take financial worries out of the equation and simply kick back and relax. And there’s no denying that drinking is a big part of vacationing on a cruise line, especially since you don’t have to worry about finding a designated driver. Cruise lines put as much attention on their bars and lounges as they do restaurants, with many organized by theme — such as a nightclub, piano bar, wine bar, or romantic lounge. Bar-hopping on board is as much an activity as a shore excursion off the ship. So if you enjoy letting loose on a cruise ship, you might want to seriously consider looking into the cruise line drink packages on the ship of your choice.

These drink packages are not just about alcohol and sodas: some provide unlimited specialty coffee and espresso drinks, a big plus if you’re a java addict, as well as non-pressed juices. Some include gratuities while others do not. It’s worth checking when pricing these out.

In planning a cruise vacation, so much is decided weeks before you hop on board, including the cabin category and shore excursions. Why not remove one more decision and start focusing on what to pack instead? Here is your complete guide to the major cruise line drink packages, and all the information you need to decide which one is right for you.

Carnival Cruises

Couple at bar with cruise line drink packages and food

Photo: Carnival Corp

There are two options for drinks packages available on Carnival Cruises: Bottomless Bubbles (soft drinks and juices only, $6.95 child and $9.50 adult, per day) and Cheers! (as the name implies, this one offers wine, beer, and cocktails—in addition to soft drinks, juices, teas, and coffee, starting at $59.95 per day).

Pros: While wine-by-the-glass and cocktails (under $20 on the menu) are included in the Cheers! package, you also get 25 percent off a bottle of wine or Champagne, and glasses on the menu over $20, in case you want to splurge a night or two.

Cons: Carnival Cruises’ cocktail and beer lists are more in-depth than its wine selections. If you’re more of a wine drinker, looking for higher-end labels, this might not be too enticing.

Celebrity Cruises

Bartender and bar on Celebrity Cruises

Photo: Celebrity Cruises

There are two alcohol packages on Celebrity Cruises: Classic (covers drinks up to $10, for $89 per day) and Premium (covers drinks up to $17 for $109 per day), and three non-alcoholic options, too.

Pros: The Premium Non-Alcoholic Package expands beyond soda, coffee, and teas. Coconut water, normally a costly choice, is also unlimited. There’s also a Wines by the Bottle option, sold in three, five, or seven bottles in each package — perfect if you’re traveling in a group.

Cons: In some of the spirits categories, there are twice as many options with the Premium Package, which is more expensive.

Cunard has four main drinks packages available. For those looking for a non-alcoholic option, there’s the Premium Soft Drinks bundle. For $30 you can enjoy soft drinks, small bottled waters, juices, hot drinks, and non-alcoholic cocktails. For coffee and tea lovers, a hot drinks package includes illy specialty coffees, Tea Forté infusions, and hot chocolates for $12.50. If you want unlimited soft drinks, that’s $10.

Cunard’s Beers, Wines, and Spirits option allows you to order an array of beers, wines, spirits, liqueurs, and cocktails costing up to $13.50 per serving. This includes soft drinks too and you’ll also receive a 20 percent discount on drinks priced above $13.50. The package costs $70 for voyages over five nights and $85 for trips under five nights. For those passionate about wine, you can choose between two signature collections, or create your own. Bottles can be enjoyed in restaurants, bars, or the comfort of your stateroom. This varies in price and offers up to 20 percent off regular wine list prices.

Pros: The Beers, Wines, and Spirits Package also gives you 20 percent discount to Cunard Wine Academy and Cocktail Master Class activities. Double measures for spirits and premium mixers are available on request. Packages include a 15 percent service charge, so that’s another thing not to worry about.

Cons: It seems a little unfair to charge more to those taking a voyage under five days.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney is one of the few cruise lines that do things a little differently. Rather than having an unlimited package, you can purchase a set number of drinks at a discounted price. Overall this saves you money compared to purchasing beverages individually on-board. And while this might not be great for those looking to sink trays of pina coladas by the pool, Disney is family-centric, so this is no serious booze cruise.

That said, there are some packages you can choose from. There are two wine options available, the Classic Wine and the Premium packages. Each offers a superb selection of bottles. Prices vary. For seven bottles the Classic will set you back $199, and the Premium $309. You can drink all seven in one night if you’d like, and you can take any open bottles back to your stateroom. The beer option ultimately offers you six beers for the price of five. And there’s a pretty long list to choose from.

Pros: If you don’t manage to drink all of your bottles of wine, you can take up to two with you when you disembark. Both the wine and beer lists are extensive. Drinks overall are not expensive either. A glass of wine ranges from $8 to $17, and a beer will set you back around $6.50 to $9. Prices include gratuity.

Cons: For those looking for unlimited drinks, this is not the best option. However, it could also be a good thing as Disney is quite magical enough.

Holland America Line

This cruise line’s Signature Beverage Package ($54.95 per day) includes drinks priced at $15 or lower, such as alcohol (wine, beer, spirits, and cocktails) and non-alcoholic beverages (sodas and specialty coffees).

Pros: Fold the Signature Beverage Package into Holland America Line’s Have It All Cruise Package (which also includes — for a week or less sail — one shore excursion, one specialty-dining experience, and Wi-Fi throughout, $60 — $100 per day) and it’s even more of a tempting deal.

Cons: There’s only one drinks package so if you really want the premium tiers of drinks you may have to pay a la carte for those.

Norwegian Cruise Line

what cruise line offer drink packages

Photo: Norwegian Cruise Line

Five drinks packages are offered by Norwegian Cruise Line, two of which are non-alcoholic (Unlimited Soda Package, at $9.95 per day; and Unlimited Starbucks Package, at $12.95 per day). Then, for alcoholic options, there’s the Premium Beverage Package (covers up to $15 drinks for coffee, wine, beer, spirits, fountain sodas, coffee, and teas for $109 per day) and the Premium Plus Beverage Package ($138 per day). The differences between the two come down to lower-end and higher-end wine and spirits.

Pros: Although the lower-priced of the two, there’s nothing left to be desired with the Premium Beverage Package, including 20 wines by the glass and hundreds of spirits and cocktails options.

Cons: For some, sipping a flute of Veuve Clicquot makes or breaks the sailing. If that’s you, then get the Premium Plus Beverage Package.

MSC Cruises

Couple on couch drinking from cruise line drink packages on MSC

Photo: MSC Cruises

Two of MSC Cruises ’ five drink packages (Alcohol-Free Package and Minors Package) cater to dry sailors, too with mocktails, sodas, energy drinks, mineral and flavored waters, fruit juices, coffee drinks, hot chocolate, and tea. For the Easy Package (starts at $42 per day), Easy Plus Package (covers drinks up to $10 from $58 per day), and Premium Extra Package (covers drinks up to $16 from $79 per day), you get all that plus the alcohol.

Pros: Just like kids sail free on many MSC Cruises sailings, two drinks packages (Minors and Alcohol-Free) cater to little ones, too.

Cons: Only two beer brands are covered in the Easy Package — Heineken and Miller Lite — and no frozen classic cocktails.

P&O Cruises

Like most cruise lines, you get a discount if you book before you leave. With P&O this is a generous 10 percent. The packages are available on any route of five nights or more. Each person is limited to 15 drinks within a 24-hour period (which begins at 6:00 AM). If you exceed this, you’ll have to purchase drinks with a 20 percent discount. There are four tiers beginning at an average price of $13 up to around $67 for the Delux. The cheapest package includes Pepsi, juice, and lemonade, and the most expensive allows you to choose from an extended range of cocktails and wines, craft beers, and dessert and fortified wines.

Pros: The new Deluxe Package was launched in 2023 and offers a much wider range of spirits, wines, and cocktails.

Cons: Every adult in the same cabin must have the same drinks package, which means no sharing.

Princess Cruises

Among the simplest of the cruise lines’ drink packages (in terms of deciphering all the options), Princess Cruises offers only four options : Zero Alcohol Package (covers non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks up to $20 on the menu, for $84.99 per day), Premier Coffee and Soda Package (coffee and teas, hot chocolate, sodas, mocktails, energy drinks, smoothies and milkshakes, for $29.99 per day) and Classic Soda Package (sodas, fruit juices, mocktails and smoothies, for $14.99 per day).

Pros: Got a sweet tooth? Milkshakes and coffee frappes are covered in the Premier Beverage Package. You also get 25 percent off bottles of wine with that package. Another add-on value is with the Premier Coffee & Soda Package: a 25 percent discount on bottles of water and cans of soda or juice (otherwise they are fountain drinks).

Cons: Even with the drinks package, wine-by-the-glass selections are limited if you’re not in a specialty-dining restaurant, so plan your meals accordingly.

Royal Caribbean

From the Classic Soda Package (from $12.99 to $15 per day) to the Deluxe Beverage Package (includes alcohol and non-alcohol drinks, from $56 to $105 per day), everyone’s palate is covered in the cruise line’s four different drinks packages , including one where Evian water can be bought by the case and brought to the room.

Pros: Wine drinkers love the 40 percent discount on bottles with the Deluxe Beverage Package.

Cons: A lot of cruise lines include coffee and soda in the same drinks package, but not here. For specialty coffee in your package, you’ll need to upgrade from the Classic Soda Package to the Refreshment Package (from $29 to $38 per day).

Seabourn offers complimentary beer, wine, Champagne, and spirits at all times during the cruise. They also have Wine Collector Packages , which are available for an additional cost. This added extra allows you to order from the Reserve Wine Menu. The menu includes a hand-selected collection from the world’s most exceptional wine-producing regions. There are three tiers starting at $350 each offering a bonus amount towards an extra bottle of your choice.

Pros: The included cost means you don’t have to worry about the differing tiers of drink packages. The onboard sommeliers purchase local wines along the route so expect a nice variety onboard.

Cons: This is luxury cruising, so expect a hefty price point for your standard ticket.

Richard Branson’s cruise line offers Essential Drinks on Us for free on every sailing. This includes filtered still and sparkling waters, non-pressed juices, sodas, teas, and coffee. There isn’t a drink package per se like other cruise lines with daily fees but you can drop $300 on a pre-paid tab which gets you an extra $50.

Pros: Virgin Voyages hired top-notch mixologists (like James Beard Award winner Charles Joly, the Academy Awards’ official bartender) to develop a drinks menu. Also, you can use this pre-paid bar tab for others in your party.

12 Best Cruise Drink Package Tips & Things to Know

Drink packages couldn’t be simpler at first glance. You pay a set daily fee, and then you get your choice of drinks on the ship. It makes things very easy.

But cruise passengers should understand there’s a lot of fine print with these packages that many people simply don’t know about. This includes where you can use them, how to get discounts, and more.

As well, with the rules and fine print, there are plenty of tips and tricks that you can use to help get your money’s worth.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a complete list of tips and things to know about cruise line drink packages…

Buy the Package Before Boarding for a Big Discount

The easiest way to save on a drink package? Buy it early. Just about every cruise line will offer the ability to book the package at a discount before boarding. You can either call the line or purchase through your online account after booking the cruise.

In return for booking early, you can save a decent chunk. For instance, we’ve seen Royal Caribbean offer 30-50% off a second drink package when one is bought ahead of time. And Carnival charges $57 per person, per day for their CHEERS! Package. But if you buy it before boarding, then the price is just $52.

If you know that you’re going to be buying a drink package, then it’s a no-brainer to save some cash by simply buying beforehand.

Everyone in the Cabin Has to Buy a Package if One Person Does

Stocked bar on a cruise ship

Think you can just buy one drink package? Think again.

Say a husband and wife are on a cruise. The husband wants the package, but the wife doesn’t drink. In this case, they would either have to both get the drink package or neither get it. That’s because in general (there are always some exceptions), cruise lines require that if one person in a cabin buys a drink package, then everyone must buy it.

You’ll need to keep this in mind in deciding if the package is a good deal for you. If one person uses the package and the other one doesn’t, it’s essentially paying double for one package. That’s throwing money down the drain.

One other thing to know is that this applies to kids in the cabin as well. In that case, the cruise lines usually require the child to have a non-alcoholic package be purchased.

Have a Cabinmate That Doesn’t Drink? Give the Cruise Line a Call

As mentioned, one of the important things to know about packages is that everyone in the cabin needs to purchase it if one person does. If you are sailing with someone who doesn’t drink much, that can be a lot of money to spend.

There is some hope, however. If you are in a situation like this — especially if someone can’t drink due to a medical issue — then definitely give the cruise line a call. It’s possible that you can be given some leeway, such as having a less-expensive non-alcoholic package instead of the typical drink package.

We’ve heard of cruise lines working with people before, so it’s definitely worth a shot.

If You Pre-Purchase, Packages Work the Moment You Get on the Ship

One advantage of buying your drink package early isn’t just that you can get a discount, but it’s also ready to go once you are on the ship. You can walk on with your suitcase, hit the bar, and get a drink. There’s no waiting in line to sign-up for the package.

This isn’t the case in all places. Namely, Texas and New York have some laws regarding alcohol that can limit cruise lines from making drink packages available while still in port. Even so, most ports allow you to start using the package as soon as you board. That can mean you’re ready to let loose even before you’ve even unpacked.

Drink Packages Often (But Not Always) Extend to Private Islands

CocoCay bar

One of the biggest things to understand about drink packages is that they don’t extend to most ports of call. So if you are on a week long trip and out in port for three of those days, that’s a lot of time that your package won’t be in use.

The one exception to know is that often — though not always — the drink package will extend to the private islands the cruise ship visits. So for instance if you are on Royal Caribbean and visit CocoCay, you can use the package just like on the ship. Same thing for Great Stirrup Cay for NCL. Carnival, notably, doesn’t have packages that extend to its private destinations.

Visiting the island and having the drink package in use is essentially like having an extra day added back on the package. Instead of paying for a full day and not being able to use it when you’re off the ship, you are able to still get your money’s worth.

Don’t Forget Non-Alcoholic Drinks in Deciding Whether to Buy

Before you buy a drink package, it’s always smart to do the math to figure out if it’s worth it. ( See Cruzely’s drink package calculator here .) How much will you drink compared to how much does the package cost? But while everybody thinks of beers and cocktails when figuring what they might enjoy on the cruise, non-alcoholic drinks can play a factor as well.

Things like bottles of water, sodas, energy drinks, specialty coffees, and juices are included in packages as well. And while they are considerably cheaper than alcoholic drinks on the ship, the prices still add up. For instance, if you have a cup of coffee in the morning and a couple of bottles of water during the day, that can easily be $8-10.

Over the course of the entire cruise, that can be serious money. If you aren’t factoring in these amounts, then you may be selling the drink package short.

Take Advantage of the Package to Try New Drinks

Colorful mix of drinks on a cruise ship

A good tip if you have the drink package is to use it to try drinks that you might not otherwise order. Normally people are creatures of habit — we order what we know that we will like. After all, who wants to spend $12 on a cocktail, only to take a single sip and realize you don’t like it at all?

With a drink package, however, you don’t have to worry about that. If you order the drink and it’s terrible, you’re not out any money. You can simply toss it and try something else. That’s a big advantage to having the package if you’re the sort of person that likes to mix things up and try something new. There’s zero risk to trying something you’d otherwise not order.

Remember: Not Having to Watch a Budget Has Value

Even if you don’t technically get your money’s worth each day with the drink package, there is a hidden value that you should consider. That’s the fact that you don’t have to budget your drink. When on vacation, the last thing many people want to think about is every nickel and dime that’s hitting their onboard account. With the drink package, you don’t. You already know exactly what you’ll pay.

So instead of watching what you’re spending, you can just let loose. Want to tie another one on in the evening? You don’t have to let the math spoil the fun.

Sure, it may be that some days you don’t spend enough to make the package worth it, but there’s something nice about being able to let loose without thinking about a budget.

Be Aware of Any Drink Limits

Oversized bar drink

As we said, there is some fine print that you should be aware of when it comes to the drink package. Case in point are limits on how many drinks you can order and at what price.

Cruise lines place limits on the menu price of what you can order with the packages. It’s usually around $15 and it will cover most drinks on the ship. So normally you don’t have to worry too much about the limit. That said, if you order something more than the drink limit, you’ll have to pay the difference in price.

There are also limits on the number of drinks you can order with some lines. Now, expect any cruise line to cut you off if you look like you have had way too much. But Carnival and Princess, for instance, have a 15-drink limit per 24 hours. You can order all the non-alcoholic drinks you want, but you’re limited on the daily number of alcoholic beverages.

There May Be a Waiting Periods Between Ordering Drinks

One thing to know about your drink package is that it can sometimes have a waiting period between drinks. For example, Carnival has a five-minute waiting period between orders.

So if you are wanting to order a drink for yourself and someone else, then it’s not going to work. As well, if you’re wanting to get two drinks at once so that you don’t have to go back and wait in line for another so quickly, that may not be the case either.

Each line is a little different and some don’t mention a waiting period at all. Still, it’s something that you should be aware of that could come up.

Gratuity Is Already Included With the Package

Drink tips for sailing on a cruise

Normally when you go to a bar on the ship and order a drink, there is an automatic gratuity included. So a $10 drink would actually be closer to $12 when it’s all said and done.

With drink packages, you pay this gratuity on the daily cost of the package. So a package advertised at $70 per day is actually around $82 if you add in an 18% gratuity. But when you go to get your drink from the bar, the drink and the gratuity is already covered.

So you don’t have to worry about having the drinks be free but having a bunch of small gratuity charges to pay at the end of the trip. It’s all included.

You Can Get a Drink Package Included With Some Cruise Sales

What’s better than getting a discount on a drink package? What about getting it included with your cruise?

A number of lines like Norwegian, Celebrity, and Princess offer fares that include drink packages for passengers. This way you can get your cruise and have your drinks as well, without the extra charge. In addition, things like wi-fi and gratuities can also be included.

It’s definitely nice to snag one of these packages and have everything included. Just be careful before you buy and do the math. There will also be a “bare bones” fare without drinks included that costs less. You want to make sure that the cost of the cruise fare with drinks included isn’t more than what you’d pay if you bought the cruise and the drink package separately.

Is it Worth Getting the Drink Package on a Cruise?

Disney Cruise drink package options are a great way to save some money and not overspend on alcohol. If you choose one of the wine or beer packages, you will end up saving money if you would have otherwise just purchased them individually.

You will have to figure out how much you think you would drink onboard the ship. If you are on a 3-day cruise, do you really need seven bottles of wine? Probably not.

Buying alcohol on the ship is way more expensive than going into your neighborhood grocery store for it, so you don’t want to buy more alcohol than you will drink.

The majority of other cruise lines do offer drink packages, and while it may seem like a good idea, you need to ask yourself if you really need that much alcohol.

Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy

Each guest, 21 years and older, can bring two bottles of wine or champagne or six beers when they board the ship.

They cannot be checked and have to be put in carry-on bags. No hard liquor is allowed on the ship, and you cannot bring any open containers on.

If you consume the alcohol in one of the dining rooms, there is a $25 corking fee per bottle. Be aware if you purchase a Disney Cruise drink package, you cannot consume any alcohol in public areas of the cruise ship.

If you purchase any alcohol while in port, you will check them in with a staff member and pick them up at the end of your trip.

In addition, if you bring more than the allowed amount, it will be stored until the end of your trip. You must pick up any unused alcohol before you get off on your last day. It is not advised to try to sneak extra bottles of alcohol on board the ship. The crew will find it and then have to confiscate it.

If you have any additional questions regarding the Disney Cruise Alcohol Policy , take a look at the entire policy online.

Benefits of Purchasing a Wine Package on your Disney Cruise

Purchasing a wine Disney Cruise drink package onboard will save you 25% off the cost if you would have bought the bottles individually. You can purchase either the classic wine package or the premium wine package. You have the option to select either 3, 4, 5, or 7 bottles.

Since you can preorder the wine package, it gives you time to do some research. There are several bottles to choose from, so it’s nice to have some time before to think through your selections.

As you are selecting your options, remember to keep in mind how much you actually think you will drink.

You will receive a message card in your stateroom to bring to your dinner in order to redeem your bottle of wine. Your selection is then served right to your dinner table. It’s always nice knowing exactly what you are going to get when you sit down for dinner.

You are allowed to drink more than one bottle of wine a night, and you can take any leftover wine back to your stateroom. In addition, you are able to take up to two bottles off the ship.

An 18% service charge is added to all wine packages.

There are four options in the classic wine package. You can purchase:

3 bottles for $100

4 bottles for $130

5 bottles for $156

7 bottles for $210

The available wines in the classic Disney Cruise drink package are:

The below brands of imported beer are available in a 6 pack for $36.25 each.

How to Order a Disney Cruise Drink Package

It is very easy and convenient to order a Disney Cruise drink package. You can either pre-order your drink packages ahead of time from your reservations page or order them right from the ship. It comes down to what your personal preference is.

While ordering a drink package, you can also pre-order room decorations, cigars, flowers, or sweets. Disney Cruise Line robes are also available.

To sign up for a beverage package, you can either pre-purchase one through  Onboard Gifts .

If you booked using a Disney travel agent , just let them know and they can add it for you.

Non-Alcoholic Drinks

If you decide not to get a Disney Cruise drink package, you can still enjoy the drink of the day on your trip. Each day, you will bring a new drink to choose from. The drink of the day will be listed on the front page of the Personal Navigator you receive each day. There will always be an alcoholic and non-alcoholic option to choose from.

The drink of the day is a great deal at $5.46 (alcoholic) and $4.89 (non-alcoholic). For an extra charge, you can get a fun, plastic souvenir cup. The price of the cup and the drink is right around $16.

You aren’t required to get the souvenir cup in order to buy the drink of the day. You can use it for refills (not free, of course), and you will get slightly more if you were to have ordered the drink without the cup.

Examples of the drink of the day:

Non-Alcoholic

  • Parrot Song
  • Espresso Chiller
  • Bahama Mama
  • Paradise Punch

A non-alcoholic drink of the day in a souvenir cup would be a fun gift for children!

Disney Cruise Beer Mug

If you want a beer but don’t want to purchase the Disney Cruise drink package, consider the beer mug deal. You can buy a Disney Cruise Line beer mug for $16.95 at one of the various pubs and bars.

A 22 oz glass of beer is given, and refills are then offered for the price of a 16 oz mug of beer. You don’t have to keep your beer mug with you at all times. (It’s heavy, so you won’t want to!)

The bartender will give you a paper beer mug token, and each time you order, you show your token, and they will give you a clean mug. When your cruise is over, turn in your token for a new beer mug to take home.

If you don’t plan on buying more than one beer a day, the beer mug deal might not be for you. Unless of course, you’re only in it for the collectible mug. You can, however, bring your token back on a further trip to get the same deal.

Disney Cruise Drink Specials

In addition to selecting a Disney Cruise drink package, consider trying one of the daily drink specials. The best way to find out if there are any available drink specials is to ask your bartender. While some specials are announced, they aren’t always advertised, so the best way to find out is to ask.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink specials will be available. Examples of Disney Cruise Drink Specials:

  • Conch Coolers
  • Mimosas and Bloody Marys
  • Screwdriver
  • 2 for 1 deal
  • Mocktails

Disney Cruise Free Soda

You don’t need a Disney Cruise drink package to receive a free soda. The beverage is free throughout the ship at specific beverage stations. There is a soda machine located on the pool deck that is open 24 hours a day. Soda is also available at the buffet.

You will have to pay for soda at the theater concessions stand and any bar or lounge. If you know you will be going to see a movie, stop by the soda machine ahead of time to get your free drink.

Drinks available at the soda machine are:

  • Coke and Diet Coke
  • Sprite and Sprite Zero

There is no need to have a Disney Cruise drink package to receive included beverages. The only drinks included in the price of your Disney Cruise are non-alcoholic beverages. This includes soda, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

It’s important to note you are able to bring your own sealed cans or bottles of soda and water onto the ship. A 6 pack of bottled water will cost you about $10 onboard, so it’s wise to bring your own.

There is no limit to how many non-alcoholic beverages you can bring on the ship. If you don’t see your favorite soda is available on the ship, you may want to consider bringing your own. Pack them carefully so they are not damaged during the handling of the bags. The last thing you want is your soda to get all over your packed clothes.

That being said, there are plenty of opportunities for free drinks, so try not to overload your suitcase too much. If your room isn’t ready when you board, you’re going to have to lug that around the ship.

Hacks to Save Money on Drinks with Disney Cruise Line

Bring your own drinks.

To save money on your Disney Cruise Line drinks, it’s important to know that you can bring your own alcoholic beverages on board.

Each guest aged 21 and over is allowed to bring two bottles of unopened wine or champagne (750 ml) or six beers (12 oz) on board at embarkation and at each port of call.

This is a great way to save money on drinks during your cruise and to enjoy the beverages that you prefer.

Happy Hours

Happy hour on a Disney cruise is a great way to unwind and relax after a busy day of exploring the ship and participating in activities. During happy hour, guests can enjoy discounted drinks and appetizers at select bars and lounges on the ship.

Drink of the Day

The Disney Cruise Line is known for its excellent dining options and onboard entertainment, but it’s also famous for its Drink of the Day. Every day, guests can enjoy a specially crafted cocktail at a discounted price.

Concierge Lounge

When you opt for a concierge-level room on any of Disney Cruise Line’s ships, you can enjoy a range of additional amenities and perks. One of them is complimentary beverages. You can have access to bottled water, soft drinks, milk, and juice all day long. As the evening sets in, lounge bartenders are ready to serve you beer, wine, and spirits.

Sommelier Bin Wine

When you’re on board a Disney Cruise Line ship and visiting one of the bars, you’ll come across a menu that has a special section called the Sommelier Bin.

By choosing this option, you can ask your server or bartender to bring you a glass of white, red or sparkling wine from the bin. The wine they select will be based on what’s already open, and you won’t know exactly what you’re getting until it’s poured for you.

If you’re feeling adventurous or in the mood to try something new, the Sommelier Bin is a great way to sample wine at a discounted price.

Disney cruise drink packages: How to save on beer, wine, cocktails and coffee

Megan duBois

If you're looking for a Disney cruise drink package, you might be disappointed. That's because Disney Cruise Line doesn't sell a traditional all-inclusive beverage package like other cruise lines do. Still, passengers have plenty of ways to get alcohol or other specialty drinks on the ship at a discount.

Guests who look forward to a glass of Chardonnay with dinner, umbrella-clad drinks by the pool or a nightcap on their balcony can save with wine- and beer-focused packages or even by bringing their own drinks on board with Disney's generous policy.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

After sailing on seven Disney cruises, I've tried just about every trick to get a deal on drinks. Here's what you need to know to decide if any of Disney's cruise drink packages or money-saving hacks are worth it for your family.

Which drinks are included on a Disney cruise?

what cruise line offer drink packages

Your Disney cruise fare includes some beverages but not others; alcohol is not included, so a glass of wine, beer or cocktail will cost you extra.

One of the biggest perks to a Disney cruise, however, is that soda from specific onboard locations is included in the cost of your sailing. Soft drinks can be found at the beverage station on Deck 9 of Disney Magic and Disney Wonder and at two beverage stations on Deck 11 of Disney Wish , Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Teens can also find complimentary sodas in the teen-only lounge, Vibe. Soda is included at meals, as well.

However, if you order a soft drink from a bar or lounge, you will be charged a per-drink fee. Be careful about what you order so you don't pay for a drink that's free elsewhere on the ship.

Besides soda, other free-of-charge, non-alcoholic options available at beverage stands include coffee, milk and juice. At dinner, you can get soda, coffee and tea for free.

Disney cruise drink packages for wine

what cruise line offer drink packages

Wine lovers don't have the option of an all-inclusive drinks package, but they can take advantage of discounted pricing for pre-purchasing wine bundles. Disney Cruise Line says the packages offer a 25% savings over ordering bottles a la carte on board.

Wine packages range from $105 to $220 for three, four, five or seven bottles of wine from a pre-selected "classic" list of white, red or sparkling wines. The package goes up in price to $155 to $330 for three to seven bottles of wine from the premium wine list.

You can choose different vintages or the same for each night of your cruise. One perk of this package is that you don't have to order the number of bottles corresponding to your sailing length. You can order more than one bottle per night, and what you don't finish can be taken back to your cabin or enjoyed the following evening in the dining room. Or, you can order just a few bottles for a weeklong cruise if you'll easily split a bottle over two dinners.

Disney cruise drink packages for beer

what cruise line offer drink packages

If you want a beer package, the options are slightly more limited than the wine offerings. You can choose from seven different beers, including Blue Moon, Corona and Heineken, and each comes in a six-pack for the price of five beers at $36.25.

If you're a hard seltzer fan, you can also order a six-pack of Truly pineapple or wild berry for $32.50. These can be delivered to your cabin for you to enjoy at your leisure around the ship.

How to book Disney's beer and wine packages

You can book Disney's cruise drink packages for beer and wine online before your sailing or after you get onto the ship.

To book before boarding your cruise, go to Disney's onboard gifts webpage and choose the beer or wine package that works for you. According to Disney Cruise Line, most of the items can be delivered to your cabin on embarkation day, but you can also choose to have them delivered to a dining room to enjoy at dinner.

Once you're on the ship, you can order packages in the main dining room on the first night of your restaurant rotation, from crew selling beverage packages at kiosks around the ship or by calling guest services or room service.

Disney Cruise Line's bring-your-own alcohol policy

If you're looking for additional ways to save on cruise drinks, you might want to consider bringing your own alcohol.

Compared to most cruise lines that allow guests to bring only a small amount of wine with them upon embarkation only, Disney's alcohol policy for guests is generous. Every person 21 or older can bring two bottles of unopened wine or Champagne or six 12-ounce beers on board at the beginning of the cruise and at each port of call.

All drinks that you are bringing with you must be put in your carry-on bag. If you accidentally pack these drinks in your checked luggage, they will be removed and not returned, even at the end of the sailing.

If you bring wine with a cork, your stateroom host can provide you with a corkscrew and glasses to use. Those who want to enjoy the wine they brought on board in the dining room must pay a $26 corkage fee per bottle, so plan to drink your own bottles in your cabin to save money.

Other ways to save money on drinks with Disney Cruise Line

Even without an all-inclusive drink package, you can save money on drinks on a Disney cruise. These are our six tried-and-true tips for ordering fun cocktails and specialty beverages for less.

Find happy hours across the ship

While alcohol isn't free on board any Disney Cruise Line ship, you can take advantage of daily happy hours to save money. You can find out when and where happy hour is by browsing through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app each day. Happy hour is listed under daily events, and the app will tell you when and where you can find drink specials.

On my most recent Disney cruise, happy hour rotated around the various adults-only bars and lounges, though times did change depending on the bar. Select drinks were half-priced.

Try the drink of the day

If you're into tropical drinks, you'll want to try your ship's drink of the day every day, including on port days at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. This rotating menu of drinks is offered at a discount.

Additionally, you can purchase a drink of the day souvenir cup, which is usually a plastic hurricane-style cup, to use throughout your cruise. This cup can only be used for a drink of the day purchase, but with the cup, you do get a larger serving of the daily cocktail special.

Check out the Sommelier Bin wines

Select bars on all Disney Cruise Line ships feature a menu with a small section called the Sommelier Bin. With this, you tell your server or bartender you want a glass of white, red or sparkling wine from the bin. They will select a wine based on the already open bottles, but you won't know exactly what you're getting until it's poured and delivered.

If you want to try something new or feel adventurous one evening, the Sommelier Bin is a great way to sample wine at a discounted price.

Enjoy free drinks in the concierge lounge

If you splurge and book yourself a concierge-level room on any of the Disney Cruise Line ships, you're privy to a host of extra amenities and benefits. One of them is free drinks.

All day, bottled water, soft drinks, milk and juice are available, and in the evening beer, wine and spirits are served by lounge bartenders. Upon arrival, you will get an information sheet with times for the daily food and beverage offerings so you know when your family should show up for meals or drink service. If you do get a cocktail or mocktail, you can take it outside the lounge if you have somewhere else to be around the ship.

Save with the Disney Cruise Line beer mug

For those who like to sip on a cold beer while enjoying a show, time at the pool or playing trivia, the beer mug savings package could be worth buying. You can buy the mug online before your cruise from the Onboard Gifts and Amenities area of the Disney Cruise Line website for $15.25. You can also purchase it once you're on the ship from one of the kiosks with crew selling drink packages.

The package allows you to get a 21-ounce refill of beer for the price of a 16-ounce beer from any bar on the ship that offers draft beer.

You also get a beer token with the package, which entitles you to all of the benefits of the package without having to carry the glass around with you. If you choose to go with the beer mug token, you can swap it in for a mug on the last night of your cruise. The mug makes a great souvenir to take home.

Get a coffee punch card

what cruise line offer drink packages

Just like other cruise lines, specialty coffee drinks are an added cost on Disney Cruise Line ships. You can find these drinks in the Cove Cafe, an adults-only coffee spot on every ship, or at the inside coffee bars near the main atrium.

If you plan on drinking more than five specialty coffee beverages throughout your sailing, ask the crew member making your drink for a punch card. Every time you visit the Cove Cafe or one of the atrium coffee bars and order a coffee-based drink, you can get your card punched. After five punches, your sixth drink is free.

Pro-tip: Put your card in your lanyard or wallet with your room key so you always have it with you. You don't want to go to pay for your coffee order only to find out you don't have your punch card with you.

Will you really miss the drink package if you're sailing on Disney Cruise Line?

If you've sailed on other cruise lines and bought the drink package, you might think that you will miss its benefits on Disney Cruise Line. The truth is that because Disney offers so many ways to enjoy specialty drinks and alcohol that are free or discounted, including being able to bring your own alcohol on at every port of call, you might end up saving money on drinks while sailing with Disney, compared to other lines.

Should you choose to have cocktails or specialty drinks, just be sure to set a daily drink budget and check yourself daily to be sure you're not spending too much on beverages.

The bottom line is that even though Disney doesn't have a traditional all-inclusive drink package, you can still find ways to save money on beverage purchases. Whether you bring your own alcohol on board at every port, try your luck with the Sommelier bin or save with a beer or wine package, you'll never go thirsty on Disney Cruise Line.

CHEERS! Beverage Program Q&A

What is the price for individual drinks on board? Sample of beverage prices - prices and product availability are subject to change without notice.

  • Beer: starting at $6.50 (mostly 16-ounces)
  • Wine by the glass: starting at $9.50
  • Mixed Drinks: $7.50 - $20.00
  • Specialty Cocktails: starting at $10.50 (excluding souvenir glassware and premium selections)
  • Soft Drinks: $2.75
  • Specialty Coffees: $2.50 - $4.25
  • Energy Drinks: $4.95
  • Water (San Benedetto bottled water and Coconut Water): $1.50 - $5.00

I understand there is a maximum of 15 drinks a day for the CHEERS! program. With the enhanced program, do non-alcoholic drinks count toward this total? Sodas and other applicable non-alcoholic beverages remain unlimited and will not be counted toward the 15 alcoholic beverages limit, and all other policies and procedures remain the same. Guests are expected to enjoy alcohol responsibly and staff members are trained not to serve guests who appear to be intoxicated. Do you have procedures in place that keep guests from drinking too much?   Carnival has a number of procedures in place to monitor guests’ alcohol consumption and bartenders are trained to look for signs of intoxication and will discontinue serving guests who appear to be intoxicated. Certain flags have been built into the system that are designed to monitor guests’ alcohol consumption and encourage responsible use of the program. Does the package have to be purchased for the entire week or can it be purchased on a daily/a la carte basis? The beverage package can only be purchased for the entire voyage at a rate of $59.95 USD  per person, per day plus 18% service charge, via Carnival’s website and $64.95 USD  per person, per day plus18% service charge, if purchased once on board.  Why aren’t full bottles of wine and champagne included in the enhanced program? The program allows guests to purchase drinks on an individual basis at a convenient flat rate and not purchase multiple drinks at one time or bottles of wine and champagne. The program does include a feature that allows guests to purchase full bottles of wine and champagne at a 25 percent discount. I don’t drink alcohol.  Am I still able to purchase the Bottomless Bubbles all-inclusive soda program? While guests who purchase the enhanced CHEERS! program receive all of the benefits of the Bottomless Bubbles program, CHEERS! does not replace the Bottomless Bubbles soda program which continues to be available to children at a cost of $6.95 USD per person, per day and adults at a cost of $9.50 USD  per person, per day plus 18% service charge, Please note : If one guest (21 or older) in a stateroom purchases CHEERS!, then each adult assigned to the same stateroom must also purchase the program.

Cruise Drink Packages: Your Options by Cruise Line

C ruise drink packages can provide incredible value for people who plan to regularly imbibe on their voyage and want the convenience of an unlimited open bar package – whereas they may not be a good deal for light drinkers.
