Tour Pack Wiring for Speakers

For those of you that added a tour pack to your non-Ultra RG, what did you use for quick release wiring to the speaker pods? Did you buy a HD harness or just get some connectors from the auto parts store? I’m thinking making my own harness shouldn’t be too bad. One pair of connectors with enough pins for 2 speakers and some extra for possible tour pack lighting. (I don’t have any lighting on my tour pack now, but may add). So maybe a 10 or 12 pin connector. I’m not opposed to making my own; I can crimp and poke, and If the alternative is a $150 harness from HD it may be the way to go. But I’m interested what others have done. Pics and part numbers or links would be appreciated, too! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk  

Molex connectors. I use them on my saddlebag big speakers. I don't know how many pins you can get with them. Ebay has a ton of them  

If you buy the HD speaker pods they come with the complete harness.  

But would you use that harness, intact, if you’re doing after market components? How do you connect to that harness from an after market amp’s speaker outputs? Something has to be custom made, doesn’t it? And can’t you buy the pods without the harness and save some $$$? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk  

It was the other end of the amp to which I was referring. The amp to speakers. That harness has to be customized somehow. That’s what I’m asking about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk  

I ran speaker wires back from my amp and then used a 4 pin trailer hitch plug for my speakers. Lighting is done on another harness that goes through a grommet on the side of the TP.

Check out the NAMZ website. They make harnesses to hook right up to the factory stuff. I have a 2015 RGS and added a tour pak to it at the dealer before I took delivery. NAMZ didn't make the speaker harness then so it was done at the dealer. Plugs into factory harness. I also got the harness from an Ultra for the tour pak so I could add lights, although the people at the dealership were too dumb to find it, I got the parts catalog for an Ultra and gave them the numbers. Have never regretted doing this and have all the same lights as an Ultra would have. You need all you can get with the idiots out there. No such thing as too many lights to get their attention.

I just installed the Exact system you are talking about. my system was a new RF system, so I had to cut and split the rear speaker harness because it has 8 wires and you only need 4 (since non ultras don’t have speaker harness to the rear). And then you have to find the rear speaker output wires up front on the molex plugs that aren’t being used and splice that to the amp. I just used 16ga. Weather proof connectors to make the splices. Seems to work fine.

Consider starting a new thread for your question. This one's pretty old but you're going to need to get your radio flashed to open up the rear channels on your head unit. EVen if you have the correct wiring harness to get back to the pods, your radio is only set up to feed the front two speakers.

Adding a tour pack to a Street Glide...

I found a 2010 CVO StreetGlide in Spiced Rum that I love! I was looking for a CVO Ultra Classic in Crimson Black.. but the jacked up prices (44k :eek) the dealers are demanding is outragous! If I add a tour pack to the Street Glide, do they come with the rear speakers like the Ultra Tour Pack?... if not, can those rear speakers be added? Thanks in advance, Maladjusted  

Thanks for the response HomeBrew... yea, I agree, the Spiced Rum on the CVO SG looks great. I gotta make it comfortable for the wifey, hopefully I can get something similiar to an Electra Glide tourpack and passenger backrest system. Recommendations on pipes? Leaning towards Rinehart true duals and a remap... certainly don't want to go down in torque numbers. Mal  

No, just the kingtour pack does not come with speakers unless you buy them from the dealer that way. There are cheaper ways to get the rear speaker pods, like ebay for used ones or an aftermarket types like hogtunes but you will need to add an amp as well for the additional two channels.  

I added the king tourpack to my 2008 SG. I had to purchase the tourpack, mounting system, back rest pad, speakers. wiring harness for speakers to radio and then had to have the radio programmed for the rear speakers in order to have everything functional as factory.

I added a Tour Pack to My 09 Road Glide, I found one on Ebay New Take Off from a Ultra with Rear Speakers and Luggae Rack on top, Matches the Bike Perfect, Look around there are some out there!

Is there wiring provided for speaker pods under the seat or do I to remove the the front of the fairing to access the radio  

Try going to the New to the Community section and introducing yourself first.  

I added a tour pak for my 2013 SG. It's very expensive to add speaker pods, docking kit, back rest, locks, and brake lighting. If I had to do it again, definitely an Ultra Classic. However, I got my bike looking exactly how I wanted.  

Do you mind mentioning ball park how much that cost? I am debating on doing the same thing vs selling and buying an Ultra ans switching the trunk mount to detachable.  

I bought my king tourpak at a swap meet for $400 with a small crack behind the backrest pad which I repaired with some plastic weld epoxy. It does not have speaker pods or lighting, but came with everything but the quick detach mount. Between the QD mount and getting it painted black I have about $650 in it, which isn't bad considering it is HD and not aftermarket. I hardly ever use it though, pretty much just when my wife rides with me which is about 3 times a year maybe. Great for road trips though!  

You are more then welcome to ask. But on a three year old thread, you may not get an answer. And the original post was made 8 years ago. :dunno  

this is what 2 dealers top me when i Bought my first Harley, I wanted the tour pack and cb and speakers, and I wanted the Road glide, at the time, 2009, 2010 were just launched, they did not have a road glide ultra like they do now. so both dealers told me, you would have to buy a matching Tp, speakers, pods, back rest, lights, and a different radio head unit, since the head unit in the Road glide and Street Glide dont have the capability to hook up 4 speakers, they only support 2 speakers, andadd the cb module to them, so I opted for the ultra classic. hope that helped  

Detachable Tour Pak, go with the speaker lids for the saddle bags, and the saddle bag lights, that way you aren't unplugging stuff each time you remove the Tour Pak. Plug-n-play wiring harness, have to flash the radio for the 4 speakers, the saddle bag lights just plug into the factory harness.

Complete Tour Pack Wiring Harness

• 1997-2023 Touring models
• Plug-n-play wiring harness with Ultra lights

This is the complete wiring harness to plug any 2014-2023 model year Tour Pack assembly onto your 1997-2023 Touring model. This harness plugs in underneath the bike's seat and runs into the Tour Pack where it plugs into the 5-pin connector for the OEM-style "wraparound taillight." This harness also has separate 2-pin connectors for attaching a side marker light. The harness also features an additional 2-pin connector for attaching a charging port.

Note: A complete plug-n-play harness is already included in all orders of Bad Dad's Tour Pack Lid with LEDs and Bad Dad's Tour Pack Assembly with LEDs. You do not need to order this or any additional wiring if you're using one of Bad Dad's LED products.

Note: Our harness functions as an OEM replacement harness (which is not available through Harley-Davidson). We do not guarantee that this harness will be compatible with anyone else's products. Please see the product images for reference.

This harness is different than the Basic Tour Pack Wiring Harness because the Complete Harness includes the complete plug-n-play connections for the OEM-style taillights. Our Basic Tour Pack Wiring Harness does not feature these additional connections.

An optional 12-volt power port is available separately. Each Tour Pack Wiring Harness features an additional 2-pin connector for plugging in this optional 12-volt power accessory, which is perfect for charging mobile electronics and other devices.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
