The Tour Coach

The Tour Coach

Welcome to my website. You are probably here as you are serious about improving your golf. If you are then I hope you find something here to help you. Having coached and for many years assisted with Dennis Sheehy (Who was then David Leadbetter’s Director of Instruction for Europe DLGA) on various professional Tours all around the World, I have seen the difference I can make to golfers of every level. I am often asked why I am different. I guess it is that I have worked with all levels of golfer that play the game. From absolute complete beginners right up to standing on practice grounds at big events with a Pro who is trying to make a living. I have also coached and helped coach players that have won on Tour and by this I have learned what it takes to win at the ultimate level. To me every golfer is unique.

SEVE-BALLESTEROS

Over the last 30 years I have been privileged to coach, advise, play, help coach, and work closely with many Tour Professionals, some of whom are considered to be amongst the World’s very best players including Seve Ballesteros ( pictured above ) David Frost, Ian Woosnam and Stephen Ames, as well as Tournament Winners and Ryder Cup players like Phillip Price, Paul Way, Peter Baker and Per Ulrik Johansson.

I also have experience of coaching top lady Professionals having worked and helped several on the LPGA and Ladies European Tour including Tiffany Chan, Peiyun Chien and Winners like Na Yeon Choi, Elisabeth Esterl and Nicole Gergely. I have travelled to all over experiencing and watching teaching at the highest level, understanding trends, learning cultures and leaving no stone unturned in using this knowledge to deliver and pass on this information .

Whether I am at a Tour event, or in the middle of a driving range working with junior golfers, the one thing I do is always give the same level of attention and passion to everyone I am with. I love the game and I hope you do to.

the tour coach

Everyone’s game is important to them so it is more than important to me. Here on this site you will find out more about my ideas on current trends I use like Trackman 4 and ground reaction force learning, as well as my teaching philosophies and some useful information on how to improve your golf. So your golf improvement definitely starts here and I hope to see you somewhere soon on the practice tee.

How Trackman 4 Works

Trackman 4 is a dual radar which basically works like a microwave, reflecting waves from the movement of a golf club head and the resulting ball flight. The change in frequency of these receiving waves is what makes it possible for us to track what happen...

How do i purchase a tour bus from master's transportation.

Master’s Transportation uses a low-pressure, consultative sales approach. Our goal is to match you with the right bus or buses to suit your needs.   If you would like to learn more about our available inventory, we invite you to browse our online catalog and submit a quote request. You can also contact our sales team by phone for more personalized service.

How much do tour buses cost?

Master’s Transportation’s large inventory allows us to offer extremely competitive pricing on all new and used motor coaches and travel vans. Our prices are some of the lowest in the industry because we receive volume discounts from our long-standing partners in manufacturing.

With that being said, several factors will impact the cost of your bus or van. These factors include the model, age, mileage, equipment package, and financing method you select.

Can I finance a new or used travel bus?

Yes, Master’s Transportation offers several financing and leasing options , including:

  • Operational leases
  • Short-term lease
  • Financed leases
  • Trac leases
  • Purchase financing

Our tour buses can be leased for seasonal or yearly time frames, depending on your needs.

Leasing is an excellent choice due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage, which has limited the in-stock inventory of our tour buses for sale.

If you are looking for a way to unlock additional savings, take advantage of the Section 179 IRS deduction to reduce your tax obligations.

Do you offer repair services or parts for tour vehicles?

Of course we do! Beyond sales and rentals, we also serve as a reliable partner for tour bus repair and maintenance services, in addition to having access to thousands of parts for commercial vehicles spanning a wide range of makes and models.

How many passengers can a tour bus hold?

The seating capacity of your vehicle will vary greatly depending on which model you choose. For instance, our tour vans typically carry between 10-15 passengers whereas our large motor coaches can accommodate as many as 75 tourists. We also offer intermediate-sized tour buses that can accommodate 15-30 guests.

Do tour bus drivers need a CDL?

Tour bus drivers must possess a CDL if they are operating a vehicle that can accommodate more than 15 passengers. Tour vans or buses that carry 15 passengers or less do not require a CDL to drive.

Can I buy a tour bus that is located in another city or state?

Of course! Master’s Transportation offers nationwide delivery. If you have found the perfect tour bus, but it is located outside of your state of residence, give us a call. We can arrange for the vehicle to be delivered straight to you.

Can I rent one of your tour buses or vans?

Yes! Master’s Transportation is the nation’s largest commercial bus rental company. Whether you need a short-term or long-term rental, we will be glad to assist.

"Fabulous! I just returned from Bindlestiff's Grand Canyon & more 3 day tour. It was Fabulous! It provided a well-planned itinerary of fascinating places (Zion National Park, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon (optional & a must!), Monument Valley & the Grand Canyon. We were a perfect size group of twelve international travelers in a comfy van plus our delightful Tour Guide, Jade. We had enough time to immerse ourselves in each location and enjoy each experience. When on the road, Jade played upbeat themed music, weaved interested facts into a story and allowed quiet snooze time; plus the rest stops were well-spaced. On the first day we actually were in 3 states!!! Jade's yummy restaurant selections served the needs of each of the travelers' dietary requirements and the overnight accommodations were clean, comfortable & provided a nourishing breakfast. A special shout-out to Jade for her ability to ""herd cats"" while being attentive to each traveler's personal needs. She engaged with each of us in conversation and was delightful with a good sense of humor. A warm Thank You to Jade and Bindlestiff Tours!!!

Electric Buses

Big bus tours adds 40 electric sightseeing buses to its fleet.

Avatar for Michelle Lewis

Global open-top tour bus operator Big Bus Tours has added 40 electric sightseeing buses to its fleet in time for the summer holiday season.

Big Bus Tours is introducing 20 brand-new Ankai electric buses in Paris and Vienna and retrofitting 20 buses in London by converting 20 of the existing diesel fleet to electric.

The new electric tour buses in Paris and Vienna are purpose-built electric sightseeing buses supplied by Ankai Anhui. The buses have 315 kW battery packs, sending power to the road through a ZF hub-motor axle. The buses can DC fast charge within four to six hours, depending on the grid load.

In London, the original buses are 2012 Ankai tri-axle diesel converted to fully electric by Equipmake. The conversion entails fitting a 327 kW battery pack that sends power to a single motor driving directly into the existing axles. The buses can be charged either AC or DC. The London buses are only used during the day, so they’ll be charged overnight on 22 kW chargers.

“We are thrilled to welcome these new electric buses as part of our investment in sustainability,” said Pat Waterman, executive chairman of Big Bus Tours. “This EV expansion is a major step forward in reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing the tour experience for our customers.”

The electric buses in all three European cities will hit the road this summer, bringing the company’s total electric fleet to 51 (just over 10% of its global fleet).

The Best Tours of Buckingham Palace

Tourists outside Buckingham Palace in London after gathering to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony. (Photo by: Loop Images/Jason Wells/Universal Images Group via Getty Images)

Getty Images

On a visit to London , some of the top attractions are linked to the royal family. But nothing is quite as iconic as a visit to the one of the three official residences of the monarchy – Buckingham Palace . While it's only open to the public on select dates, you can relish in its beauty from the regal gates, snap a selfie and catch a Changing the Guard ceremony.

How to Tour Buckingham Palace

For about 10 weeks every summer (select dates from July 11 to Sept. 29, 2024), Buckingham Palace opens its elaborate gates, welcoming visitors to explore its lavish State Rooms, grounds and Royal Collection artworks. The Royal Mews is also open to visitors from March to October, showcasing the Royal Family's real working stables and ornate, historic carriages – including the Gold State Coach used for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Coronation in 2022.

If you aren't here at the right time, fear not; this extravagant, 18th-century royal residence is just as impressive from the outside, making it worth a visit any time of year. Check online for a current schedule of the Changing the Guard ceremony – when the red-and-black-clad Royal Guard marches toward the palace, accompanied by striking military music – and see a tradition that's been running for more than 300 years. Combine it with explorations in the surrounding area of Westminster to see London at its most quintessential.

You can explore all of this independently, of course – but if you're looking to dig a little deeper, hear about the king's coronation and uncover local secrets, consider a guided London tour . Insider experts can point out the best photo spots, take you to the must-see sights and show you the ins and outs of the area, while sharing knowledge of the country's royal history along the way.

There are tons of options out there, so where do you start? Based on local knowledge and traveler review sites, here are some of the most highly rated tours.

Changing of the Guard Walking Tour

Tourists and domestic visitors at Buckingham Palace watch in huge numbers as Changing of the Guard takes place. (Photo by Mike Kemp/In Pictures via Getty Images)

Price: From $13 Duration: 2 to 3 hours Standout perk: Witness the pomp of the iconic Changing the Guard ceremony.

Watch the Royal Guard march toward Buckingham Palace as you witness this historic, quintessentially British spectacle on a tour of Westminster's highlights. Accompanied by a military band, you'll see the Old Guard (soldiers on duty) switch to the New Guard as they arrive at the palace from Wellington Barracks. Your guide will explain which regiment is which, before taking you on a guided walking tour past other world-famous, attractions, including Big Ben, Clarence House, the Houses of Parliament , St James's Palace and Westminster Abbey .

Recent travelers gave high ratings to the tour, saying guides were able to take them to the best photo spots for the ceremony while offering a wealth of historical and entertaining insight.

Tours leave at 10 a.m. and depart from the Victoria Palace Theatre. The outings end at Parliament Square.

Local tip: Look at the Horse Guards Clock on the Horse Guards Parade – the official entrance to Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace – to see a dark stain above the 2 (II, in Roman numerals). It marks the time King Charles I was executed outside the Palace of Whitehall in 1649, after being charged with treason.

Price: From $161 Duration: 8.5 hours Standout perk: Get a rare chance to explore the State Rooms with Buckingham Palace tickets, and tick off two of the United Kingdom's grandest royal residences in one day.

This twin-castle tour offers the opportunity to enter Buckingham Palace and see its State Rooms, Royal Collection artwork and other treasures, with commentary from an audio guide. After you've toured the palace, you'll travel by coach about 25 miles west of London to Windsor Castle – the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and the family home of the monarchy for more than 900 years. Explore the castle's lavish State Apartments and grounds, and visit St George's Chapel – the burial place of Queen Elizabeth II alongside many other monarchs, and the spot where Prince Harry married Meghan Markle.

Recent travelers said the tour was a great opportunity to see inside both palaces. Several commented on the extensive art collection at Buckingham Palace, and many enjoyed hearing insights from the guides, although some complained about long lines.

The tour takes place from July through September on select Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and leaves from Victoria Coach Station at 7:45 a.m.

Local tip: Windsor Castle has its own Changing the Guard ceremony, as well as its own extensive art collection. The ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. on select days of the week.

Best of London Tour Including Tower of London and Changing of the Guard

The illuminated Millennium Wheel (or London Eye) at night.

Price: From $144; with optional London Eye or Harrods cream tea for an additional fee Duration: 9 hours Standout perk: You'll see many of London's key attractions in one day, and enjoy a river cruise thrown in for good measure.

If you want to combine a visit to see Buckingham Palace's Changing the Guard ceremony with stops at several other London spots, this is a great choice. The full-day trip begins at the UNESCO listed Tower of London where you'll have the chance to see the crown jewels.

From here, you'll visit Buckingham Palace to witness the famous pomp and pageantry of the ceremony and get the chance to admire the palace's impressive architecture from the outside. The day includes a tour of the elaborate St. Paul's Cathedral (not available on Sundays), before embarking on a boat tour of the Thames, passing key attractions including Tower Bridge and Shakespeare's Globe. The day also includes a photo stop at Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Kate Middleton married in 2011, and a brief walking tour of Parliament Square. Travelers can choose to add a ride on the famous London Eye observation wheel (or opt for a quintessentially British cream tea at Harrods instead).

Recent travelers loved the tour and praised the guides as highly knowledgeable and entertaining. Many were impressed with how much they saw in a day and said it gave them a great introduction to London (although it's worth noting a few felt there was quite a bit of walking involved).

Tours leave from Victoria Coach Station at 7:45 a.m. and finish at the London Eye.

Local tip: If you fancy delving deeper into the Tower of London in your own time, book a ticket to see the Ceremony of the Keys. Dating back seven centuries, this nightly ceremony is when the castle gets locked up for the night, with a special exchange between the sentry and Yeoman Warder taking place at 9:30 p.m. between the atmospheric battlements – both eerie and magical.

London: Explore the Parks and Palaces on a Morning Bike Tour

Price: From $37 Duration: 3.5 hours Standout perk: Get active on two wheels, and combine a Buckingham Palace stop with a visit to Kensington Palace and other royal sights.

This half-day guided cycling tour is a great option to get active on your London trip. You'll start at Kensington Gardens – the home of Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana lived with the now King Charles, and Queen Victoria's birthplace. From here, pedal to the Royal Albert Hall to check out this elaborate concert hall, opened by Queen Victoria in 1871. Afterward, cycle through Hyde Park and on to Green Park to reach Buckingham Palace, where your guide will regale you with little-known stories about the palace. Continue on to Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben as you take in some of the capital's key highlights, before returning to the Royal Parks.

Recent travelers raved about the tour and were impressed by the guides' knowledge. Many enjoyed the small group size and said the cycling was a good, leisurely pace, with plenty to see along the way, and iced tea and snacks included as a bonus.

The tour leaves from outside the main entrance at Hilton London Hyde Park. The recommended minimum age is 9 – you can pre-book junior bikes and child seats. While the bicycle and helmet for use during the tour are included, attraction entry fees are additional.

Local tip: If you've got time after the tour, it's well worth exploring Kensington Palace a bit more. Admire the elaborate, Georgian-era King's Staircase and the King's State Gallery with its fine art collection, see the Queen's State Apartments where Mary II would come to relax or welcome guests, and visit the Sunken Garden, once a favorite spot of Princess Diana's. After, enjoy afternoon tea or lunch at the Kensington Palace Pavilion amid the gardens.

The Premier Classic London: Private 4-Hour Tour in a Black Cab

The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben across the River Thames at sunset.

Price: From $482 Duration: 4 hours Standout perk: You'll see many of London's must-see attractions, and as it's a private tour, you can tailor the trip to your liking.

If you're after a private tour, this half-day trip in a classic London black cab is just the ticket.

You can choose to align your visit to Buckingham Palace with a Changing the Guard ceremony, and you'll get expert commentary from your personal taxi driver, who's also a registered tour guide. Alongside the palace, you'll pass must-see points including the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, St James's Palace, the Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, Shakespeare's Globe, Borough Market and Covent Garden , with options to stop along the way.

Recent travelers loved the tour and said guides were able to tailor the trip, stopping at spots both on and off the tourist trail and offering plenty of historical insight.

Your driver-guide can pick you up and drop you off at your hotel; or a central London location.

Local tip: Make a stop at Borough Market to try some of the best food in the city, with more than 100 stalls offering everything from Persian to Italian, alongside plenty of fresh produce.

Alerts in effect, how to explore denali national park and preserve, child restraint information.

Alaska State Law requires children to be in a car or booster seat as follows:

  • Children younger than 12 months of age or less than 20 pounds (9 kilograms) must be in a rear facing infant seat.
  • Children older than 12 months and younger than 4 years, and at least 20 pounds (9 kilograms), must be in a child restraint.
  • Children aged 4 through 7 years who are less than 57 inches (1.4 meters) tall or less than 65 pounds (30 kilograms) must be in a booster seat. Booster seats are no longer required for children of this age once they reach 57 inches (1.4 meters) tall or weigh 65+ pounds (30 kilograms).
  • Parents are responsible for providing the appropriate car seat.

Day hiking or backpacking may require extra logistical planning if your children require a car seat.

Beyond the Savage River Check Station at mile 15 of the Park Road, you'll need to be on a bus, bicycle, or on foot. Prior to the 1972 completion of the George Parks Highway (Alaska Route 3), which is the main travel artery into interior Alaska, visitation to Denali National Park and Preserve was fairly low. Anticipation of major increases in traffic resulting from a direct route to the park prompted park officials to implement a mass transit system beyond Mile 15 on the Denali Park Road. To provide for visitor access and enjoyment of the world class resources, our concessioner, Doyon/ARAMARK Joint Venture , offers several types of bus services along the park road.

Extending 92 miles from the park entrance to its terminus in the old mining community of Kantishna, this mostly-gravel road traverses boreal forests and sub-arctic tundra. The eastern half of the road (from Mile 0–43) crosses rolling mountainsides and scenic river valleys as it meanders through spectacular vistas and prime wildlife viewing areas. By riding a bus, you help to reduce traffic congestion and to protect the natural resources of the park. Even more information on how the park road is managed, as it relates to vehicle traffic, can be found in the Denali Park Road Vehicle Management Plan .

Beyond Buses: Recommended Itineraries

Planning a trip to Denali can be a big undertaking! Just getting to the park can take quite a while, and it is distinctly different from many national parks, so even seasoned park travelers can be unsure how to plan their trip.

Use the table below to start thinking about what might work well for you, given the amount of time you'll be here. There are plenty of other things to do than what is listed below - this is just a starting point.

Auburn freshman Jackson Koivun makes cut at the Memorial in PGA Tour debut

  • Published: Jun. 07, 2024, 5:16 p.m.

the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday - Round One

DUBLIN, OHIO - JUNE 06: Jackson Koivun of Auburn makes his PGA TOUR debut during the first round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village Golf Club on June 6, 2024 in Dublin, Ohio. (Photo by Tracy Wilcox/PGA TOUR via Getty Images) PGA TOUR

Albeit with no room to spare, Auburn freshman Jackson Koivun did just enough Friday to make the cut at the Memorial Tournament in his debut appearance on the PGA Tour.

He is the first amateur to make the cut at the Memorial since 2009. Koivun made the cut while former major champions including Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark, Lucas Glover and Justin Rose did not.

Koivun is playing as an amateur, meaning he cannot collect a check at the end of the weekend he is now set to play. He made the field by virtue of winning the Jack Nicklaus Award, another major award to add to his sweep of national honors highlighted by the Fred Haskins Award. Auburn assistant coach Chris Williams is serving as Koivun’s caddie.

Nicklaus, the famous 18-time major champion, hosts the event annually at his own designed Muirfield Village golf course in Dublin, Ohio.

“We were walking back after we had just won the national championship, on the 17th green, and we were walking back to the award ceremony and Coach pulled me aside and told me I’m playing this week and I need to start getting everything in order,” Koivun said during a Tuesday press conference at the event. “It was kind of just hit me like a train, because all these emotions from the national championship and then I’m playing this event, which is such a great event and trying to figure out traveling and all that stuff with U.S. Open sectionals, there was an array of emotions, but all good things.”

Koivun is quickly on track to earn a PGA Tour card early through the PGA Tour’s accelerated program , having accrued more than half the required points by the end of his freshman year. Vanderbilt golfer and Mountain Brook native Gordon Sargent is the only player to have earned a Tour card in the newly created accelerated program.

Koivun now has 15 of 20 needed points after making the cut this week. He’ll get an additional point later this summer as an already-announced member of the Palmer Cup team.

  • 3 = D-I Nicklaus Award (2024)
  • 2 = D-I Outstanding Freshman Award (2024)
  • 3 = Haskins Award (2024)
  • 3 = Hogan Award (2024)
  • 3 = Best WAGR rank: 3rd
  • 1 = Made cut at PGA Tour event (2024)

Koivun could earn another point this weekend if he were to climb up into and finish in the top 10. Other point offerings this summer will come at the U.S. Amateur, where he will be among the favorites. The winner gets three points. He’s also a highly likely candidate to make next year’s U.S. Walker Cup team, which would be another two points.

There is an opportunity for Koivun to earn his Tour card before the end of his sophomore year.

Koivun just missed out on a playoff at the Alpharetta, Georgia, U.S. Open final qualifier on Monday before traveling to Ohio for the Memorial. Auburn teammate Brendan Valdes did make the playoff at the same site, but did not land one of the coveted final spots in next week’s U.S. Open.

Koivun played the first two days of the Memorial paired with Brandt Snedeker. Koivun shot an even-par 72 in round one which got him in the top 30 before posting a +4 score on Friday. The eventual cut line was +4.

In his second round, Koivun was five-over-par after 10 holes before making birdies on the 14th and 15th to get him in position to make the cut. Koivun later bogeyed the 18th hole putting his status for the weekend on the fringe.

Making his first PGA Tour appearance is the cap of a breakout freshman season for a player already ranked as a top 10 amateur in the world and the top player in his high school class. Koivun made the top 10 in 12 of 13 events he played.

Koivun won the SEC individual championship and was the top individual at the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, NCAA regional. At the NCAA championships, Koivun got an unlucky break as he hit the flag stick with his approach shot and had his ball roll off the green on the 18th hole in the final round. Had the ball gone in the hole, Koivun would have taken the outright individual lead and had he made a birdie, he would have been tied at the top. Instead, he lost the championship by one shot.

Koivun then went on to help Auburn, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, go on to win the team NCAA title . Auburn completed a sweep of the SEC team title, regional team title and NCAA team title.

NEW YORK (AP) — A man and woman who sold pro-Donald Trump merchandise out of a bus covered with pro-Trump flags and posters are homeless after the vehicle crashed into several street signs and utility poles in New York City.

The crash happened around noon on Sunday on Staten Island, the Fire Department said.

Donna Eiden, who had been living in the bus with her husband, Rocky Granata, and their cat, Missy, told the Staten Island Advance that she was sleeping inside the parked vehicle when when it began to roll along Hylan Boulevard, crashing into signs and poles in its path.

Photos of the crash’s aftermath show the side of the bus ripped to shreds and Trump signs scattered about.

“That’s our life, we live in it; we travel in it. I have my daughter’s ashes in it,” Eiden told the Advance. “It’s our business. It’s our life.”

Eiden had to be extracted from the wrecked vehicle, firefighters said. She did not require medical treatment.

The bus had been a frequent presence at Trump rallies around the country before it crashed.

No more bus tours for China's rich millennials — they're seeing the world on their own

  • Rich Chinese millennials are opting for solo travel, the latest status symbol.
  • It counters the organized group-tour travel of their parent's generation.
  • They're looking for more immersive, meaningful travel experiences that let them escape hustle culture.

Insider Today

Rich millennials in China are experiencing world travel in a very different way from their parents.

The older generation was the first group to benefit from the country opening up to world tourism, but the industry was still in its infancy. Therefore, organized tour groups were the go-to option for those with the money to spend on this new middle-class pursuit.

These tours offered a safer and more accessible way to explore new destinations, Elisa Harca, CEO of consultancy firm Red Ant Asia, previously told Business Insider.

But younger generations — millennials and Gen Z — have grown up in a world that's much more open to them. For those who can afford the luxury, they spent their youth traveling with their parents and studying abroad.

And it's meant that now they want to travel alone or in smaller groups of friends, as it emerges as the latest luxury status symbol for younger people in China .

New technology has made solo travel much less daunting

"They're a lot more used to being tourists,'' Jack Porteous of China-focused consultancy firm Tong Global told Business Insider.

Many people have a more advanced level of English, and the availability of real-time translation apps means traveling further afield to places in Europe is much less daunting for this younger cohort.

The rise of social media platforms for travel has also spurred the accessibility of solo travel. Experts pointed to the Xiaohongshu , China's Instagram-like app, as one of the main resources for travel recommendations.

Luxury travelers, especially those in their 20s and 30s, are relying on Xiaohongshu to make decisions on booking hotels, flights, and restaurants when they travel, Sally Maier-Yip, founder of China-focused communications consultancy 11K Consulting, told BI.

In 2022, the app boasted an estimated 200 million monthly users, mainly young women, seeking product recommendations, lifestyle advice, and how-to videos .

Related stories

Porteous explained that the site is full of content about how to "live like a local" in different destinations worldwide.

This allows people to find more authentic travel recommendations for themselves rather than leaning on travel experts.

Traveling for deep personal fulfillment

It's not just about ticking off bucket-list destinations; well-traveled younger people are looking for deeper meaning in the experiences they're spending their money on.

"Immersive travel experiences spanning four to eight days are gaining traction," Maier-Yip, told BI. She said this indicates a growing appetite for trips centered on fulfillment and personal happiness.

"Travel has also taken on a new role as a form of self-exploration and definition," Porteous of Tong Global added.

Visiting unique, off-the-beaten-track locations is the next frontier for those looking for luxurious travel experiences.

Porteous points to the rise of glamping in China and holidays focussed on outdoor activities, such as horse riding in Inner Mongolia, as examples of these new immersive experiences.

China's grueling work culture means younger people are looking for a break

There's a growing trend of young people taking early-career gaps , loudly celebrating quitting their jobs to go traveling, he added.

Chinese employers are known for their notorious "996" work culture, which demands workers clock in from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week.

But younger generations are becoming more inclined to reject this.

Viral acts of rebellion such as wearing " gross clothes " to the office, or just giving up and " lying flat " have all been ways that they've been going against the status quo.

Taking time off work to travel solo is one example of how younger Chinese people have a different view of their life trajectory versus their parent's generation.

Flower bouquet sale

Open Hearts Art Center and Gemelli are partnering to sell handcrafted and painted paper flower bouquets at the Italian eatery at 70 Westgate Parkway in West Asheville.

Proceeds will support the differently abled artists who handmade the creations at the local nonprofit studio and gallery.

Open Hearts’ mission is to represent and empower adults with varied abilities to reach their full potential through the arts. Professional artists and seasoned caregivers encourage Open Hearts artists to draw inspiration from personal stories.

The Paper Flower project evolved from a Valentine’s Day to a year-round endeavor in which Open Heart artists and volunteers make the flower kits to sell at several locations in the city, including Gemelli.

“It is fitting that ‘flower power’ is a crucial way to ensure that creative empowerment is ever present in these artists' lives,” Courtney Hannen, Open Hearts staffer and former hostess at Gemelli’s sister restaurant Strada Italiano, said in a news release. Hannen manages The Paper Flower project.

At Gemelli, guests may purchase mini bouquets that include six stems for $18. Larger bouquets include nine stems and sold for $30. Payments are accepted via cash or Venmo with 100% of sales going to Open Hearts.

“Supporting the community, and especially nonprofits, is one of our core values,” Gemelli owner Anthony Cerrato said in a news release. “We love being able to give back wherever we can, and when Courtney approached us about the partnership, it was a no brainer. The flowers enhance the space and it’s a very worthy cause.”

Gemelli’s paper flower bouquets were designed specifically for the local restaurant where they are displayed on the dining tables.

Additional artworks are sold at Open Hearts’ gallery throughout the year with sales split between the artist and center to cover operational costs.
