PRESTIGE TOUR

The Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour is the STPGA’s most elite and competitive level of junior golf.  While some of our better players exclusively play this Tour due to its year-round nature, exemptions, and rankings, it is also designed to give our Junior Tour players an opportunity to experience a higher level of play and compete in multi-day events. Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour tournaments are contested over the course of 2-3 days with juniors playing 18-holes a day for a total of 36- or 54-holes. This Tour is open to players ages 13-18*, and while it is often viewed as a resource to prepare for state and national events as well as college golf, it is important to note that not all players who compete on this Tour plan to continue their journey with college golf.

The Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour started in 2012 with a handful of events over the course of the year and has grown to a boisterous schedule of over 37 events! Players who compete on this Tour have the opportunity to earn exemptions into a multitude of state and national events conducted by various organizations, earn AJGA Performance Stars, Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings, and Global Junior Golf Rankings!

  • *Some tournaments, typically conducted in the summer months, will be open to players ages 11-12. These tournaments will be noted on the schedule.

About the Tour

Do I qualify to play on the Prestige Tour?

  • In order to participate on the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, STPGA Junior Golfers must have recorded two scores of 85 or better in a STPGA Junior Tour tournament.  If this requirement has not been satisfied, as an additional option, players may provide the STPGA with documentation of three recorded rounds of 85 or better in outside tournaments.  As a final option, a player may send a Letter of Recommendation from their PGA Professional to Matthew Coughlin at  [email protected] .  Please note that based on field size and registrations, players who have satisfied the requirement of recording two scores of 85 or lower in a Junior Tour event may receive precedence over the other options and the STPGA has the right to approve or decline players that we feel is in the best interest of the event.

Maybe the Prestige Tour isn’t the right tour for you, yet?

Division Breakdown

This Tour is designed for the top players in our Section with the goal of preparing them for the next steps in their junior golf journey. With this tenant in mind, our divisions and yardages will fall within the following ranges:

5,700 - 6,100 yards

6,600 - 6,900 yards

Girls 11-12

5,300 - 5,600 yards

Girls 13-18

Results Format

To recognize the achievements of as many of our juniors as possible, the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour will feature three* unique divisions per gender, 13-14, 15-18, and 13-18. The 13-14 and 15-18 age divisions will feature competition for trophy and achievement purposes. With the goal of awarding exemptions and player of the year honors to our juniors, we want to ensure that the best players are receiving these accolades regardless of age, and therefore these will be based on the results from the 13-18 division.

Specific information regarding AJGA Performance Stars, Junior Golf Scoreboard and Global Junior Golf Rankings, and exemptions will be available on each Tournament Information Page.

Insperity Invitational Points List Challenge

The Southern Texas PGA Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour has a year-round points challenge. Points acquired throughout the year will accumulate towards the Boys and Girls 13-14, Boys and Girls 15-18, and Boys and Girls 13-18 division Points Lists. After the final Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour of the year, the Southern Texas PGA will award the top two players on the Boys and Girls 13-18 Points List with an exemption into the Insperity Invitational Junior Pro-Am the following year.

In addition to competing at a top-tier event on the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, our participants are also competing for additional playing opportunities at the state and national levels! We have formed several relationships with allied organizations in order to achieve this goal, and greatly value watching our juniors represent the Southern Texas PGA and themselves at these events! While you will still be required to register and pay for these events, by earning an exemption via the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour you have punched your ticket to participate in these events that are highly sought after and not open to public registration otherwise!

It is important to note that all items listed below are different and unique. Please read through each item to understand how it works and relates to the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour.

PGA

Due to the success of the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, we have strengthened our relationship with the AJGA so that Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour players can earn PBE stars.  AJGA PBE stands for American Junior Golf Association Performance Based Entry and was introduced in 2003 by the AJGA as the means to determine AJGA Tournament Fields. This enables AJGA members to earn their way into AJGA tournaments based on their performance at the national, regional, and state levels. The STPGA is proud and excited about being able to award PBE stars at our Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour tournaments.

Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour Performance Policy

In order to protect the integrity of the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, the STPGA implemented the Performance Policy (effective January 1, 2021). If you have trouble competing on the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, we do not want this to detract from your junior golf journey or the journey of others, and we want to encourage you to continue to improve your game at the STPGA Junior Tour level.

Any player that scores three consecutive rounds of 94 or higher in Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour tournaments will not be permitted to participate again until they regain eligibility. A player may regain eligibility into Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour tournaments by posting scores of 85 or better in two STPGA Junior Tour tournaments.

Note #1: Players will be allowed to complete a tournament, should the third round of 94 or higher happen during Round 1 of an event.

Note #2: The STPGA reserves the right to waive the performance policy at its discretion (i.e. inclement weather).

Note #3: If a player fails to meet the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour Performance Policy outlined above and is already registered for future Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour tournaments, the player will be moved to the Pending Eligibility List.

PGA

The Southern Texas PGA is a proud co-owner of the Legends Junior Tour with the Northern Texas PGA and Texas Golf Association. This ownership allows us to award exemptions into Legends Junior Tour events across the state of Texas. The Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour is designed to provide high-level competition within our Section, while the Legends Junior Tour creates competition between the best juniors across the state of Texas!

Not only can players earn exemptions into Legends Junior Tour events by playing on the Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour, but players also have an opportunity to receive a “Battlefield Promotion”. The Battlefield Promotion was created in 2019 to provide Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour and NTPGA All American Tour players direct access to the Legends Junior Tour. It states, should a player win three times in a calendar year on these Tours, such player will earn a Battlefield Promotion to the Legends Junior Tour and would become fully exempt for the remainder of that calendar year and the following year.

Note: Due to the structure of the alliance, the three wins can be combined between the STPGA Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour and the NTPGA All-American Tour.

At Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour events, players can also earn Priority Status into Legends Junior Tour events. Players who have distinguished themselves in previous Tier 1 and 2 competitions will be given priority over other players. For more information about Legends Junior Tour Priority Status, Click Here .

PGA

The Ben Hogan Junior Cup Matches is an annual competition between the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Junior Tours’ top six boys and top six girls ages 13-18 played at Shady Oaks Country Club. The Matches that take place in late summer is a way for top juniors to compete against our rival section to the north. The team is determined based on exemptions earned at Prestige Tour events.

PGA

The Boys and Girls Champion of each qualifier will have the opportunity to join 156 of the nation’s top junior golfers in the PGA of America’s premium junior event, the 46th Junior PGA Championship.

LPGA Senior Championship, Epson Tour double-header at Copper Rock concludes with historic victories

the legends junior tour

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT —  The 2024 LPGA Senior Championship, held last weekend at Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane, concluded thrilling back-to-back weeks of professional women’s golf anchored by a pair of historic victories. Marking a monumental effort of planning and execution, the double-header was unlike anything else Southern Utah has ever seen.

the legends junior tour

“ Copper Rock took on a huge endeavor that was challenging, to say the very least,” said Penny James-Garcia, volunteer and event coordinator for both tournaments. “The entire event could not have gone better from start to finish.”

On Saturday afternoon, Angela Stanford sunk her final putt to make history as the only golfer to ever successfully defend the LPGA Senior Championship title. Stanford won last year’s event at Sultan’s Run Golf Course in Jasper, Indiana, an environment far removed from the dry and blustery high desert conditions of Southern Utah.

The Texas native led her nearest competitor by two shots going into the final round and finished the 54-hole event at 10 under par, three strokes better than fellow American Cristie Kerr and eight below Sweden’s Maria McBride. Her victory at Copper Rock marks her third win since joining the Legends of the LPGA, as well as the first time she has ever successfully defended a professional title.

“She spent an hour (after her win) talking with us just as though we’d been dear friends for a lifetime. She shared her experience of the championship round and the thoughts that went through her head, and frankly, it was just an experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life,” James-Garcia said. “She’s not only a great golfer, but she is truly an incredible champion.”

Stanford earned LPGA membership in 2001 and has seven titles, including one major, to her name. Over the course of her illustrious career, she has helped the United States win six Solheim Cups and earned more than $12 million in total prize money. Additionally, she continues to compete on the LPGA Tour.

the legends junior tour

The first major golf event of any tour to be played in Utah, this year’s LPGA Senior Championship featured an international field of more than 70 players. Nine former major champions took to the links of Copper Rock, including World Golf Hall of Fame members Juli Inkster, Laura Davies and Hollis Stacy.

The tournament’s only hole-in-one was scored by American Sherri Steinhauer on Saturday at the 17th hole. It was also the 17th ace of her career.

After Stanford’s name is engraved on the base, the LPGA Senior Championship trophy will remain at Copper Rock’s clubhouse until next year’s event. Local golf fans are welcome to visit and experience this piece of history, James-Garcia said.

The LPGA Senior Championship is one of two major tournaments organized annually by Legends of the LPGA, the leading senior tour in women’s professional golf.

This year’s event was organized as an unprecedented double-header along with the fourth annual Copper Rock Championship, a stop on the Epson Tour. And while the LPGA Senior Championship showcased the enduring talents of legends of the game, the Copper Rock Championship highlighted ambitious young golfers chasing their dream of earning LPGA membership.

Copper Rock’s player-friendly layout and a competitive field stacked with talent resulted in a record-setting event over the weekend of May 16-18. Epson Tour rookie Fiona Xu of New Zealand captured the first title of her career with a dominant performance that saw her finish seven strokes ahead of her nearest competitor, South Africa’s Kaleigh Telfer.

By the time Xu reached the 18th tee during the final round, a standing-room-only crowd had gathered in the hospitality tent surrounding the green to witness history in the making. Ultimately, her 22-under-par finish broke the all-time 54-hole scoring record for the Epson Tour as well as the tournament’s previous low score record.

the legends junior tour

This year’s Copper Rock Championship was a swinging success overall, James-Garcia said. Spectator attendance more than doubled over last year, while the free junior golf clinic saw roughly four times as many participants.

Nearly 900 volunteers lent their time and talents over the course of both tournaments to help keep everything running smoothly. In fact, 54% of volunteers worked both events.

“There is no secret sauce,” she said. “It’s hard work and people with a passion who care so much about supporting women’s golf that they were willing to do whatever it took.”

Copper Rock has committed to continue hosting the Epson Tour through 2028, which includes a pledge to increase the annual purse by $10,000. The event is run by an all-female leadership team, providing career-changing opportunities on and off the golf course. Learn more at copperrockchampionship.com .

B ATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Country music artist, Timothy Wayne , 21, of Franklin, Tenn., is going to be a junior this fall at Louisiana State University. Until then, he will join his uncle, country superstar Tim McGraw, and Carly Pearce on the Standing Room Only Tour 2024 .

He recently signed with Universal Music Group Nashville and released his first song, “ God Made A Country Boy .”

Wayne said he has been playing music for the last several years. He sings, writes songs and plays guitar and has many musical influences.

How Real Madrid use stadium to remain elite: Taylor Swift tour, shrewd Florentino Perez, Kylian Mbappe

There's no bigger club in the world than real madrid, and nobody has been doing business better than florentino perez and company at the santiago bernabeu.

rm-24.jpg

If events proceed as expected at Wembley on Saturday, then Real Madrid will be champions of Europe for the 15th time, a second Champions League title lifted in three years. The promise of more to come is apparent in Carlo Ancelotti's vibrant young team.

And yet for many in the Spanish capital this week is all about the eras of Red, Speak Now and Evermore rather than Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior. An estimated 120,000 fans will flock the Santiago Bernabeu this week to see Taylor Swift, the biggest football club in the world playing host to the most lucrative concert tour in history. It is the sort of union that Madrid hope will never go out of style.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the cash registers of the newly refurbished ground will ring out over a three-and-a-half-hour show as Swifties stock up on merch, drinks and snacks. Analysis by Barclays said that a quarter of fans would be travelling to a different city to see the world's biggest pop star, one in five traveling across country. The average concertgoer on the U.S. leg of the Eras Tour was said to have spent over $1,300 on a night from their wildest dreams. When fans do the same in Madrid, experts estimate that around $4 million could be earned by the hosts, although in this particular case, not all that money would go to the club.

This had been Florentino Perez's vision all along when, in 2010, he announced plans to renovate Madrid's home of the past 63 years. Nine years later when work began he was promising  "a great avant-garde and universal icon." The Santiago Bernabeu would be "a modern stadium, with maximum comfort and safety, with state-of-the-art technology, where fans can experience unique sensations and also be a new and important source of income for the club."

That last line was critical. A ground that had packed in nearly 130,000 in the 1950s would clip its capacity down to 80,000 but there would be more room for VIP bars, restaurants and premium seats. A stadium used infrequently for football matches -- even when Madrid were making deep Champions League runs -- is now playing host to its first international concerts in a decade. Swift's two-night stand will be followed by eight more shows this summer, including Karol G's first four nights in Spain since her emergence as one of the biggest artists in the world. Next year, Spain's first regular season NFL game will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu, an even greater coup for Los Merengues given that they beat local rivals Atletico Madrid to the prize.

Not bad for a club that is already rated the most valuable brand in world football, whose 2023 revenue leaped by 16 percent, topping $900 million to make them the richest in the sport. All without feeling the full financial force of the new Bernabeu.

"We're not even seeing the full impact of the stadium on the balance sheet yet," said Chris Wood, assistant director in Deloitte's Sports Business Group. "These clubs are now looking at their stadia as assets they can use year-round, not just on those home matchdays: getting people in to drive F1 cars, see concerts, visit museums, all these things that turn your stadium into more than just a football ground, more of a year-round attraction."

The money generated by the Bernabeu will have to be shared. A $380 million deal with Sixth Street and Legends in 2022 gave the latter company the right to host events at the ground and saw the two parties gain 30 percent of new profits (excluding season ticket sales) at the ground for 20 years. If this has something of the look of the sort of levers Barcelona were pulling two summers ago, it is worth noting that a greater proportion of the cash injection that came Real Madrid's way was used for infrastructure. A 21st-century stadium is a far better long-term revenue driver than Robert Lewandowski.

Unlike their great rivals, Madrid came out of the COVID-19 woods relatively unscathed. They had gotten out of the Cristiano Ronaldo business at an opportune moment and for many years a squad of serial European champions only required investment on the fringes. Rebalancing a squad around Vinicius and Rodrygo, among other young talents, required significant fees but altogether lower wages. Even as more and more young talent has been snapped up, Perez has kept a close eye on the purse strings. According to analysis by Swiss Ramble, Madrid's 49 percent wages-to-turnover ratio is the best in La Liga. They ought to have no issue acing UEFA's squad cost regime.

For all the intriguing questions about where Kylian Mbappe might fit into Madrid on the pitch, the answer on the balance sheet is altogether more straightforward. Quite snuggly. Sources view it as unlikely that the club will feel compelled to make a big sale this summer to tidy up the books though the cases of Casemiro and Raphael Varane serve as a reminder that there is always a cold-eyed clarity at the Bernabeu. If someone wants to offer silly money for high-earning veterans then Madrid heads will rule over their hearts.

Their homegrown assets are dealt with in a similarly robust way. Only one player who might reasonably be termed homegrown has netted Barcelona over $30 million, Cesc Fabregas when he went to Chelsea in 2014, three years after his boyhood club had paid a similar fee to bring him home from Arsenal. Madrid, meanwhile, continue to drive big money either from academy graduates such as Achraf Hakimi, Marcos Llorente and Sergio Reguilon or for players they picked up in their formative years and moved on for big money: Martin Odegaard and Varane being two of the most notable.

Perez learned lessons from the profligacy of his first Galactico era when the super team that culminated with David Beckham's arrival in 2003 barely got to know each other before they passed into post-prime. When big money has been spent it has been on players whose prime years are ahead of them. Committing the best part of $150 million to Bellingham seems rather shrewd if year one of what might be a decade's reign at the summit of world football is anything to go by.

Madrid exploit the lure they hold perhaps better than anyone else. This summer Bayern Munich will be over a barrel, a situation they know all too well from four years ago with David Alaba. Do they sell Alphonso Davies to the Spanish champions for whatever they can get or hold on for the final year of his contract, hoping to get an extension but running the risk of losing him to Madrid for nothing? Outside the Premier League, even clubs that once saw themselves as near equals to the 14-time European champions seem incapable of much resistance.

Swift and Madrid, then, might be a perfect match for each other. They have moved with the times more adeptly than many contemporaries who could not quite make success stick. Both exist at a level of renown and commercial muscle as to unmoor them from the industry that they are figureheads for. And given their sheer revenue-generating power only appears to be growing, it is hard to shake the sense that their imperial era has only just begun.

La Chinesca- A journey through Mexicali history

La Chinesca: Un recorrido mágico a través de la historia

La Chinesca, or the Mexican Chinatown, protects the origins of a city founded on Chinese traditions, and offers visitors the opportunity to experience a fusion of two cultures in one.

Towards the end of the 19th century, there was a significant migration of Chinese people traveling to America due to political and economic changes in their country. Many arrived in Mexicali with hopes of crossing into the United States but eventually stayed in the city.

This community gradually prospered with early generations starting as workers and later becoming established merchants. The first generations settled in the city's square, where they opened up bars, restaurants, shops, and what we now know as La Chinesca.

La Chinesca: Un recorrido mágico a través de la historia

Myths and legends exist surrounding Mexicali's Chinatown, which is connected via underground constructions and pathways. Many believe that these basements were built to help people escape the extreme climate of the region. Others point out that they were designed to separate this community from others and live undisturbed.

Underneath their shops, you find a network of tunnels leading to a hospital, smoking rooms, and even a jail. The arrival of the Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), however, led to the bankruptcy of the two Chinescas–both underground and above–leaving this neighborhood abandoned.

La Chinesca: Un recorrido mágico a través de la historia

The site recently opened its doors as a museum for tourists interested in learning about the ancestors and history of Mexicali. The renovation also includes murals representing historical Chinesca heroes.

Visitors visiting the Chinesca museum can descend into the basements and underground tunnels that take you on a trip back in time.

Make sure to make this a complete Mexicali itinerary by visiting one of the hundreds of famous Chinese food restaurants in the region.

The 16-year-old English amateur starred in Europe’s victory at last year’s Junior Ryder Cup in Italy and earlier this month made history as the youngest player to make the cut in a PGA TOUR event for 11 years when he made the weekend at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Tickets to see Kim, former host and Masters Champion Danny Willett and a host of DP World Tour stars in action are available to purchase here , with General Admission, Ticket+ and Premium Experiences selling out fast.

Kim, last year’s winner of the Boys’ Amateur title as well as the European Individual Championship and McGregor Trophy, is regarded as the outstanding teenage prospect in English men’s golf and showed his prowess in beating highly-rated American Miles Russell 5&4 in the Singles at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.

“I am so excited to play at The Belfry later this year and I am incredibly grateful to the DP World Tour for the opportunity,” he said.

“The British Masters is an event I have grown up watching and to have the chance to play is a dream come true. The event celebrates the best of British golf and having Sir Nick Faldo as the host is really cool. Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to spend some time with him and learn from his experience.

“I feel like I learned so much from playing on the PGA TOUR earlier this month and spending some time around the DP World Tour players will be priceless for my future, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

The Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo will be the DP World Tour’s 21st event held at The Belfry. The first tournament played at the Sutton Coldfield venue was the Lada English Golf Classic, won by the late, great Seve Ballesteros.

The Tour made a return to The Belfry after a 13-year absence in 2020, with the venue hosting a tournament each year since.

Fans are urged to secure their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, with tickets selling fast. General Admission tickets, as well as a limited number of Ticket+ and Premium Experiences options, can be purchased here .
