what does the lim button on cruise control ring do

Hi can anyone help. I don't have driver assistance but on the cruise control buttons the middle one is lim. Just cannot work out what it does ex temporarily disable the cruise control ?
It prevents you from accelerating above a certain speed. If you set a speed push lim and you find you cannot go past the speed when you attempt to accelerate. It stops you from accidentally speeding, if you take your foot off the accelerator you slow down, in cruise however you continue at a constant speed.
Speed Limiter??

this is mine. have you tried using the button in the middle - i wonder if it's coded for the limiter and they've used an old switch by mistake?

Does it depend if it is an auto or not I noticed the photo of the lim button was a auto
I believe the LIM button is not available in the US.
My car does not have it. But then my car is devoid of all the fancy electronic option$.
Check another for "Stuff the UK has and the US does not" Can confirm no US cars have this.
Mine doesn't have it. US. It's the standard US spec of "set" in the middle. Basically does the same thing though. I set my cruise all the time when I am in speed zones. Would be nice to have control of the throttle though, and be able to slow down and just not go over a particular speed. Question, though. How do you set the regular cruise control?

Just push the pedal to the floor and the car WILL accelerate above the set speed!
But if you floor it it's the same it overrides the limiter. Try it.
Don't want to sound rude here but Lim and Cruise are very different. I'm not sure but most Lim versions if not all are on Automatic Transmission only. How to use:- Drive at say 34 mph press Lim button. The car will show a GREEN speed limit (34 mph)at the lower right hand corner of the drivers display. Press the up button and the speed limit will raise to 35mph press again and it will jump to 40mph then 45mph as so on. Press the down button at 34mph and it will drop to 30mph and again from then on drop in 5mph increments. The only way to override the limiter is to turn it off by pushing Lim again. You can hit the floor with the throttle (kick down) but this only temp overrides it until your speed drops back to 34mph then it will go back to limited speed. The speed in the drivers display will flash to warn you of your exuberance. The reason this is better than cruise in a built up environment is as you pull up to traffic lights, stop, then pull away again you have to do nothing the speed limiter just prevents you from going past your desired speed and if you did the same with cruise you'd be forever resetting it and your driving style would be somewhat desired.
Yes it overrides it .got to get past the limiter though,be firm,bit like kick down.
Can confirm it does kickdown (on the auto) and continue to accelerate with the LIM indicator flashing
Have mine set a 120mph🤣only kidding set at 30mph saving tickets

Mini F56 Cruise Control & Multi Function Button Retrofit (544)
This option is applicable for all F-Series Mini’s. This upgrade adds the limiter function in addition to cruise control.
If your vehicle is not factory fitted with multi function steering wheel buttons, this upgrade will also add this in addition (free of charge). As you can see, BMW blanks off the button space on some vehicles where you would expect to find the cruise & multi function buttons.
Just to make things clear, this does not track the vehicle in front to maintain a distance. The braking side of this system maintains your set cruise speed when going down a hill.
The original switch pack is removed and upgraded with a brand new Genuine Mini part and steering wheel wiring, the car is then coded to accept the newly installed option.
We only use new genuine Mini parts for the conversion so this should not have any affect your vehicle’s warranty.
This can be removed and returned to standard at the end of a lease if you desire, leaving no trace of the upgrade.
We are based in Reading, Berkshire. This is not a service that we offer remotely. We can however complete this conversion within a working day.
The cost of the complete upgrade is £460 inc VAT.

Retro Fit MFSW - Cruise Control - CHEAPLY!

Depends upon the year, pre LCI cars may or may not have the correct steering column switch (part with indicators/angle sensor) and if not, needs changing because the connector is there in them all but the part in those cars most likely does not have the internal connections for MFSW. (ask me how I know -lol). The coding can be done using NCS Expert but it is a PITA, probably worth an hour charge at dealership.
I have a 2011 r55 I wish to retro fit this to. I have now got the 3 spoke steering wheel and the column switches (with auto h light function) . Once I get the airbag am I right in thinking once fitted to the car all I need to get it to work is the re program from main dealer??? Mtia Regards Jon

realoem.com will give you the most recent part number and as it says in that catalogue, all SZL units are now prepared for MFSW connection. I bought mine from somewhere in Holland online, new old stock I believe. Prices vary vastly.
I have this szl scudder 6131-3451887 -03 but am unable to find it on the parts list. Is this a good one to use or a duff re cruise . Thank you kindly in advance Jon

This is from Realoem.com but may not be exactly your vehicle as not enough info (ie normally aspirated or S, US or Euro, etc). Go in yourself and this part is under 'Vehicle Electrical System'. Due to COVID, I ordered it online and before the 2021 model configuration was open. Amongst other options, I selected the Comfort Plus pack, stupidly assuming Cruise Control was still part of the Pack.

Kombi Module -look for the line = TEMPOMAT_SET2_ANZ_DAUER set to 'wert_02'. Kombi again look for line ACC_AUSSTATTUNG change to 'wert_01'.

Hi Members, I have a 2018 JCW F56 and this has appeared on my dash "Auto PDC failure". Check Control also reads "Auto PDC failure". Details "Activate PDC manually. The sensor in your windshield is the rain sensor for the automatic wipers. It is located toward the top of the outer glass. The cruise control to the left of the steering wheel is the standard cruise control. I don't think 2015's even had the Driver Assistance Package available yet. If they did, it was very rare at the time due to the price.
