LOS ANGELES (October 15, 2021) - Today, Premier Productions announces multi-platinum selling, multi-award-winning artists Chris Tomlin and UNITED will co-headline their long-awaited 2022 “Tomlin UNITED” Tour , set to kick off at the Greensboro Coliseum on February 9th, 2022.  Anticipated to be the biggest Christian music concert of the year, the Tomlin UNITED Tour will welcome thousands of fans each night to worship together and experience songs that have shaped modern faith today. Sponsored by illumiNations, the live worship experience includes 33 dates across the U.S., making stops in major markets including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington D.C, San Francisco,  Miami and two shows in the New York area before ending in Duluth, GA on April 13. “ We really believe this tour is going to be something unforgettable,” said Chris Tomlin and Joel Houston (UNITED) . “We’ve been trying to do something like this for a long time and we have a real sense of trust in the fact that this is the right time. This is the moment for what God has been planning and in that, we think the timing has everything to do with the people joining us each night.”

After an 18-month delay, the “Tomlin UNITED” Tour aims to not only bring the church back together but also bring faith back to the center of our conversations. Expected to be an experience unlike any other, the tour offers friends, family, and strangers the opportunity to worship together again after what has been a long season of isolation. 

On their collective desire for the tour, Tomlin and Houston said , “At the heart of it, we want people to leave with the understanding that there is a greater hope in this world. This is a critical moment in time for people to be reminded that there is a true and living hope, and that’s obviously Jesus. That is what we proclaim with these nights.”

After a long season of isolation, award-winning Christian music artist Chris Tomlin and the popular worship band UNITED are hoping to bring joy and unity to thousands across the country through their long-awaited 2022 " Tomlin UNITED Tour ."

"I can't think of a more critical moment in time for us to come back together and worship ... unified and as one voice," Tomlin told The Christian Post.

"For me, what is so important to remember is that music is God's idea. ... Isn't that beautiful? God gave us not only a way to worship Him but also to connect and communicate with Him through music. Worship is different from any other concert. It's your soul connecting to God. It's eternal and an opportunity to join in everlasting praise."

Kicking off at the Greensboro Coliseum on Feb. 9, the live worship experience includes 33 dates across the U.S. They will make stops in major markets, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Miami and two shows in the New York area before ending in Duluth, Georgia, on April 13. 

Tickets for the Tomlin UNITED Tour will go on sale to the public beginning Oct. 22.

"We really believe this tour is going to be an experience unlike any other," Jonathon Douglass of UNITED told CP. "We've wanted to do this for a long time and we have a real sense of trust in the fact that this is the right time. We want these nights to be about hope, the living hope, and for people to leave with a little more of it than they came in with. Music has the power to touch people in this way, and I'm excited for that."

The tour marks the first reunion the artists have had since the COVID-19 pandemic prevented large groups from gathering in 2020.

 A Grammy Award-winning artist, Tomlin is behind some of the most well-known worship songs today, including "How Great is Our God" and "Good Good Father." UNITED, the band born from a youth ministry out of Hillsong Church in Australia, has similarly dominated airwaves with hits including "Oceans" and "Lead Me to the Cross."

Tomlin told CP that how the tour came together is "evidence of God's timing."

"UNITED and I have toured around the country and around the world with our own teams, but to finally be able to come together after what has been a really challenging season of isolation with the pandemic, I know these nights are going to be powerful," he said. 

"When we gather together, we remember the bigger story that we are part of. … We remember that we are part of God's Kingdom. … And when we gather together, we encounter the presence of God and that changes our lives."

Douglass agreed that the artists have a "real sense of trust that this is the right time" to resume in-person concerts. 

"It means a lot to be able to bring our songs to audiences across the country," he said. "Our ministry is first to the Lord and then to people. So no pandemic can ever stop that fact. If anything, it amplifies the urgency. We have so much hope for this coming tour and are looking forward to seeing people face-to-face and gather[ing] together again across the globe to magnify the name of Jesus."

Reflecting on his passion for worship music, Douglass said the genre highlights the biblical truth that "God is the same yesterday, today and forever" at a time when people are desperately seeking for hope, encouragement and stability. Worship songs, he said, are "evidence and testimony that God is moving, right now."

"As we pray again, lament again, rejoice again, declare again, love mercy again, praise again, we do so in absolute faith that we will see God's goodness again, experience His presence again and see Him keep His promises again," the artist emphasized. "So, when I think about people coming together in one accord, singing songs of worship and having moments where they encounter the presence of God and the saving grace of Jesus, it fills me with so much hope."

Through the "Tomlin UNITED Tour," the artists hope to bring encouragement and unity to the Church and bring faith back to the center of our conversations. 

"We want people to leave with the understanding that there is a greater hope in this world. This is a critical moment in time for people to be reminded that there is a true and living hope, and that's obviously Jesus," Douglass said. "That is what we proclaim with these nights."

"Every night on the tour, we will sing and worship together in the presence of God," he added. "We know that music touches so many different streams of people, especially in the faith, and we hope that our live show has that impact."

Tomlin echoed Douglass' sentiment, stressing that his hope and prayer for the tour is that "God touches them in ways they could have never expected."

“Something powerful happens when we come together, all the streams of the church, to worship in Unity and One voice… it’s more than a concert, it’s an opportunity for us to join in the eternal praise,” shared Chris. “My prayer and belief for these nights with United is that everyone in the building, myself, the attendees, the musicians, the crew, each person working at the venue - everyone - is met by God right where they are in life and has an encounter that reminds us of the hope we all have in Him.”

“In light of what our world has collectively been through in the last couple of years and the journey we have personally been through, being able to gather and worship together has been something that has brought much joy and encouragement,” shared Jonathon Douglass of UNITED. “That’s why we are so looking forward to continuing the journey of this tour to share and experience who God is and how he is present with each and every one of us right now! We look forward with great expectation to these nights with a great faith that God is going to move in our lives and bring joy and encouragement personally to everyone who joins with us!”

The fall leg will visit a dozen major cities across the U.S. including St. Louis, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Charlotte and more. Music critics claimed the  “Tomlin UNITED Tour”  was ‘more than a concert- it was a worship experience for the performers and audience’ and ‘many were so overcome by the music they were brought to tears. The outpouring of emotion was awesome to witness.’

With a combined hope that this tour will help reunite the church, Tomlin and UNITED remained focused on launching the tour throughout an 18-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Premier Productions is the national tour promoter and World Vision will serve as the tour sponsor. 

On September 9, Chris will release his next full-length project,  Always.  The title track was released to Christian radio this spring and made its live debut on the  “Tomlin UNITED Tour”  earlier this year. The official live video for “Always” was filmed live from Chris’ annual “Good Friday Nashville” concert event and premiered exclusively with Facebook.

Tomlin follows other nationally touring entertainers who have performed at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in recent months, including country music artists Cole Swindell and most recently, Brantley Gilbert. Comedian Jeff Dunham performed at the venue this past Saturday before a sold-out crowd.

The 51-year-old singer-songwriter has scored No. 1 songs in the Christian music genre while selling more than 12 million albums and amassing 6.8 billion global streams. Hit song 'Holy Forever' tallies more than 140 million streams

The Grammy-nominated " Holy Forever " topped Billboard's streaming, airplay and sales-based Hot Christian Songs charts while tallying more than 140 million streams.

“I never could have imagined how quickly the song would connect with the church around the world," Tomlin says on his website.

Tomlin also has garnered millions of YouTube views for the songs "Nobody Loves Me Like You" and " Is He Worthy ?"

“Tomlin’s name has become synonymous with modern worship music, as the Texas native has issued songs that have evolved into music standards sung by church congregations around the world," Billboard said.

Tomlin is among only a handful of musical artists to receive the SoundExchange Digital Radio Award for more than 1 billion digital radio streams, joining Justin Timberlake, Pitbull and Garth Brooks, the news release said.

He's also the first Christian artist to reach a billion streams on the music streaming platform Pandora.

Canton Civic Center is only Ohio tour stop

The Grammy winner's tour includes stops in Nashville, Boston, St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle and Anaheim, as well as Germany, England, Hungary and Ireland. Tomlin will be performing at arenas seating more than 10,000 people and up to nearly 20,000. The Canton Memorial Civic Center is among the the smaller venues on the tour, seating around 5,000.

The Canton concert will be on the second leg of Tomlin's tour, which includes shows in Phoenix, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Houston, Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore and Indianapolis. Opening acts on some stops will be CAIN and Tauren Wells .

Canton is Tomlin's only Ohio show on the tour.

Tickets start at $20 plus fees

Earlier this month, Tomlin released the album, "Live From Good Friday." In 2022, he released the studio album, "Always," which features "Holy Forever," as well as "Always," "I See You" and "O Lord, You're Beautiful."

Tomlin also recently released the book , "How Great is Our God: Living a Worship-Led Life in a Me-Driven World."

Tickets for Tomlin's Canton concert go on sale to the general public starting at 11 a.m. Thursday. Tickets range from $20 to $95 plus fees for the 7 p.m. event and also can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the box office at the Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave. N.

Michael Whitaker Smith (born October 7th, 1957) is an American christian rock musician who has also achieved success in mainstream music charts.

Born in West Virginia, Smith developed his interest in music through his interaction with the church, learning piano and singing in the choir at an early age. After a 'spiritual experience' at the age of ten, he became a devout Christian, becoming heavily involved with bible study groups.

Developing his songwriting skills during his time at High School and College, Smith decided to move to Nashville in order to pursue a career in music, gaining support from his friend Shane Keister, who was an established session musician there.

In 1981, he signed to Meadowgreen Music, writing gospel hits and worship songs for various artists. After performing as the opening act for Amy Grant, he signed to Reunion Records to release his debut album, titled "The Michael W. Smith Project" in 1983. The album brought him huge success, including a Grammy nomination.

In 1990, Smith achieved a crossover success with the single, "Place in This World," from the album, "Go West Young Man," which peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1992, he went even further and managed a number one hit with "Change Your World." His success continued with his following releases, creating 22 albums by 2014.

Smith also created an entirely instrumental album, titled "Freedom," released in 2000, featuring a vary of instrumentalists to create its epic sound. Following this, he moved towards christian worship music with his two albums "Worship" and "Worship Again" in 2001 and 2002. Smith wrote a song inspired by the September 11, 2001 attacks, titled "There She Stands" at the request of then president George W. Bush. He has also released four Christmas albums, reinterpreting the traditional Christmas songbook with his own inimitable style.

Michael W. Smith is definitely one of the biggest names on the American Christian music scene and his success has been awarded with several awards throughout his career. He has achieved three Grammy Awards for Best Gospel Performance in 1984, Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 1995 and Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 2002. As well as the Grammys, he has won a whole host of awards from the Dove Awards and the American Music Awards.

Michael W. Smith, a contemporary Christian singer, has had some mainstream success. But his real roots are in spiritual, Christian music, and this reflects in concerts such as "A New Hallelujah". His songs are deeply spiritual, about God, Jesus, and Christian beliefs. You will feel the spirit wash over you as you attend his concerts and listen to his lyrics and music. God is in the music and he brings that to each and every concert and show he puts on.

Michael clearly has a blessing in his spirit for his music - not only does he have the spirit, but he has the musical talent to back it up. His band does a wonderful job with some pretty spectacularly written sounds. His voice, though, is the real stand out. It is silky, smooth, and makes you feel at peace. Attending a Michael W. Smith concert is like going to the most peaceful church service you will ever attend. You will leave feeling refreshed, at ease, full of spirit and alive in all ways. I cannot recommend attending a Michael W. Smith concert enough to everybody who is interested. It is all about God and the spirit, not about his ego or anything else, it is the perfect contemporary Christian concert.

With a career entering its fourth decade and record sales of over 18 million, there is no doubt Christian rock musician Michael W. Smith has no issues selling out large venues to his devoted following. Despite the musician fast approaching his 60th birthday, it appears performing has kept him young as he approaches the stage with visible excited energy.

Fans old and new attend this evening to see the well tuned musician play live as he hand selects his best work from a discography of 20 studio albums. He is an affable and ardent frontman who allows his love for music and christianity to really shine through both by his performance and his onstage chatter. The audience is onside from the beginning and sing intently to the choruses of early track 'Friends'. The whole stage setup is now large to reflect Smith's success and all the musicians, backing vocalists and extras come together for a dramatic, celebratory and proud rendition of 'Open the Eyes of My Heart' which rounds off a truly spiritual, joyous evening really well.

I enjoyed seeing Michael W. Smith perform last night. It was a pleasant surprise that he opened the show! He is always a joy to hear and very entertaining. The one thing I would have to say that could have improved his part in the show was the sound system. It was sort of muffled which overpowered the clarity of Michael's voice. Other than that, I loved seeing Michael W. Smith - this was my fourth or fifth time seeing him live. His piano skills are awesome!

It was wonderful very moving God convicted mr of a few things that he needs me to work on. The holy spirit was so strong in that arena that it almost dropped me to my knees. We have such amazing people that brought God into that place and I am grateful that I was there to experience that. Thank you so very much. The Carter's

I loved the show. Michael W Smith is so humble and down to earth. He allowed his back up singers there moments in the spotlight. His introduction to some of the songs was awesome and also gave a sense of intimacy to the show.

Loved every minute and was worth every cents.

Michael started his concert about 8:15 and did not stop singing until 10:20, two hours and five minutes of God filled anointed praise and worship.

Michael is a servant of the most high. I pray that I can see him again in the near future.
