In 2013, BTS (aka the Bangtan Boys) stepped onto the K-pop scene thanks to record label Big Hit Entertainment. Members Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (Suga), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung (V), and Jeon Jungkook.

All seven members hail from layered backgrounds like hip-hop and professional dance, proving their expertise in the entertainment industry. Originally a hip-hop group, BTS quickly became a force in South Korea – and around the world – thanks to the constant growth of its music, lyrics, and on-stage charisma.

BTS released its first single, “No More Dream,” from its debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool in 2013. The album’s hip-hop elements set the tone for BTS’s early career. The group showed off its talent with various multi-language album releases in Korean and Japanese. Dark & Wild, Wake Up, and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 1 & 2 offered glimpses into BTS’s potential in K-pop.

In 2016, BTS’s second Korean LP Wings sold one million copies in South Korea, solidifying its spot as a rising group in music. Singles like “Blood Sweat & Tears” helped the album skyrocket. An official part two release of Wings titled You Never Walk Alone continued where the previous album’s left in 2017. A resounding message of hope remained a recurring theme throughout the lineup of must-have records.

As BTS’s success continued to grow, so did its worldwide status. The septet’s 2017 singles “DNA” and “Mic Drop” kick-started its rise on the U.S. charts. It was no surprise the initial EP release Love Yourself: Her was also highly successful.

By a new all-time high in South Korea and number seven in the U.S., the nine-track album secured another win for one of K-pop’s best. Love Yourself: Her experimented with a variety of genres, including electro-pop and hip-hop. Not only did BTS stick to its roots, but it also delivered a sneak peek into its creative versatility.

Following a string of U.S. TV appearances, BTS set out to take the world by storm. Like the band’s previous albums, Love Yourself: Her was the beginning of a unique three-album series. First, BTS released the Japanese-language LP Face Yourself. Later, the follow-up Love Yourself: Tear marked the band’s first U.S. number one hit.

A collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the single “Idol” helped the next LP, Love Yourself: Answer, gain more traction. Not only did BTS sell over one million copies of the third installment of the Love Yourself series in South Korea, the album also topped charts in the U.S.

BTS’s status as a worldwide pop phenom took a significant turn with its Map of the Soul: Persona era. Additional collabs with famous American artists like Halsey on “Boy with Luv” helped the group obtain a third number one LP in the U.S. Soon enough, BTS became one of the most in-demand musicians in the pop industry. It continued to break records with Map of the Soul: 7 and Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey in 2020.

More recent singles like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance” were radio hits. BTS’s signature high-energy sound and lyrics captivated fans and casual listeners alike. In the meantime, concert documentary films, mobile games, award show performances, and collaborations featuring artists like Snoop Dogg, Coldplay, Zara Larrson, and Charli XCX allowed BTS to break down barriers as a South Korean artist.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on sold-out world tours. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the boy band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase.

Individual style sets BTS apart from the typical boy band. Perhaps that’s why the septet’s status as a music phenom is an undeniable feat.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on several sold-out world tours throughout its career. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase. The same went for TV appearances on late-night talk shows, award ceremonies, and more.

Despite BTS’s recent hiatus announcement, its popularity continues to grow, especially with a long list of music awards under its belt. Some of them include nine AMAs, 10 MTV VMAs, and 12 BMAs. Not to mention two well-deserved Grammy nominations from the Recording Academy.

Live reviews

Going into this, I didn’t know what to expect. I have known bts for a very long time and all army’s know that you should expect the unexpected from bts because they’re all amazing!!! I was extremely excited when I had gotten the tickets, but I had no clue what I was in for till I arrived in Hamilton and stood in front of the First Ontario Centre! Once I stood there everything became so real and couldn’t believe that I would get to see bts in just moments. My sisters and I went to see the merchandise. There were many army’s dancing and singing to all of bts’s amazing songs, it made me smile. Sadly we didn’t get any merchandise, but we took some amazing pictures and the true prize was being able to spend the whole evening with bts. Once we entered the stadium and found our seats, my heart stopped! There were lights everywhere and their old music videos were playing on the big screen. Many army’s were singing along to the songs while we waited for the moment of truth! Finally it was 5 minutes till the beginning of the concert and my heart was racing!!! This was finally it. I was going to see bts for real!! And then it happened! Bts appeared from the stage and I began to cry. I myself am still confused as to why I was crying. Maybe it was because of shock, maybe because I was seeing my idols for the first time, but I like to think it was because these are the most amazing people on earth, they show their love to thousands and work tirelessly every single day and it’s all so they can spread their message. Their message of hope, love, ending violence, trashing stereotypes, and loving yourself. I think we need more people like bts in this world. Despite me crying through the opening song I managed to sing along to all of their songs and screamed till my heart was content. The visual effects and lighting were out of this world. The whole time I thought I was dreaming, but it was all true. Time seemed to fly by the fastest when they were on stage, but I enjoyed every moment of it! This concert was definitely the most breath taking and inspiring concert I have ever seen (it’s also my very first concert!). The music was so loud and everyone single person was enjoying it. I felt nothing but pure joy. My day before the concert was a difficult one and I am a student who has to work hard in school, so I had many worries before the concert. But as soon as the first song started and they appeared, every problem seemed to disappear. I felt extremely enlightened and happy that I had the opportunity to see these one of a kind people. If someone asked me if I would go to another bts concert, my answer would be an immediate yes!! Bts are very inspiring people and I can’t even begin to imagine what they went through to get where they are today, but I’ll take the time to thank bts now for becoming the amazing boys we all know and love. I know that they will make even bigger accomplishments in the future. Soon enough everyone will know bts as those boys who changed their lives. I hope millions of people can give them a chance and see what they have to offer because I cannot imagine going through life without knowing who bts is. If I could request bts of anything it would be for them to stay happy. I won’t even try to imagine how hard it must be for them at times and I don’t think many people understand what you all go through from day to day. But if my message can lighten your worries even a bit, I would be satisfied! I want you all to stay happy and enjoy all the moments that come your way. Whether it’s good or bad. BTS, army’s love you always!!!! We purple you always!! And will always stand by your side!!!

Hello to whoever is reading this! If you are planning or debating to go to a concert, or simply just here to read the review on their concert, the experience was absolutely amazing! Meeting armys, to waiting in line, to actually seeing BTS perform their songs LIVE, every single thing about it was ecstatic.

I have read a lot that ARMY’S are all very sweet and it is indeed true. While I was waiting in line for merch, there was a particular moment that I will not forget for a while. I already had a reserved seat and I was waiting at 4 am (on the concert day) in the GA Line. GA (General Admission), the pit, where people stand in front of the stage. It was useless for me to wait in the line because I had a reserved seat. These ladies behind me asked me if this was the GA line and I told them I was unsure. They went to the front of the line and asked and apparently, it was indeed the GA line. I had no absolute idea, and they were kind enough to actually go all the way to the back to let me know I wasn’t waiting in the correct line.

I also met more ARMY’s in the merch line! They told me all about their experiences and their bias and many more. ARMY’s are all really sweet and they are amazing people who share the same passion as you! I also met some people from behind my mom and I. My mom befriended them first, then she introduced them to me! We then went back to the GA line to look for people giving out free things. The girl behind me also had to use the restroom, so we all walked across the street to a paint store and while I was in the restroom, turns out someone almost spilt blue paint on her homeade jacket!!! The experience with ARMY was absolutely amazing and I will never forget how kind and welcoming they were.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as a soundcheck winner as well, so I was able to see BTS perform without any makeup on and with their normal clothes. While waiting, I also met ANOTHER fellow ARMY, of course haha. She was so kind to me and while we were waiting in the arena for BTS to come out, she actually gave me Shooky sign that she had purchased from the LINE store, unfortunately, I left it behind on accident after the concert.. She was also so kind to me and was extremely nervous to finally see BTS. When BTS came out, I was on the verge of crying. Before, I wasn’t that nervous and I was ready to see them. It was so amazing to see them in person when you’ve seen them on a tiny screen on your phone. They are real. Seeing them so up close and in person was a different feeling. They look the same in person as they do in videos and pictures, except they are way more beautiful. They’re features are really sharp and they really glisten. The feeling is unexplainable and it is very hard to understand until you actual experience it yourself. They performed 3 songs: I Need U, DNA, and Anpanman. This lasted for about 15-20 minutes.

The concert itself was so hype. They all sound amazing live. However, you can hear how tired they were, from all the difficult choreographies and traveling so much. It was evident they hasn’t had enough sleep. They had one day to rest because after their FOUR day concert (straight) they flew to Oakland already. It is a differnet feeling when you hear the song in such a way. You are just absolutely jamming out and having the best time of your life. If you could go to one concert, I would reccomend a BTS concert.

I think that if i have to describe it in just one word i will say: PERFECT.

It was the best experience of my live, also it was my firt concert ever.

Everithing went perfect, im from Barcelona, Spain, so i had to take a two hours flight to go to Paris, i woke up at 3 am because the flight departure was at 6:30 am, I arrived there (the hotel) at 11 am on the 18, after that, i went to eat breakfast/lunch and while i was eating i went to look around the concert area. When i went there i saw a lot of people camping out to be one of the firt so i decided to do the same. My friend and i went to get water, food and a jacket to go with the others to camp out there. We stayed from 1 pm to 10 pm camping until they gave us a number so that people could leave the place to rest a bit, we decided to do so because we couldn't sleep the previous day because the flight that we had and also it was only 6 degrees and we were only wearing a short t-shirt and a jacket.

We woke up at 4 am to go to our place, after waiting four hours more we went to get merchandising so we had to wait 3 hours until we got the army bomb ver. 3. After that we waited until 5 pm when they let us enter the concert hall, in there we waited 3 hours more until the happiest moment in my live where the 7 most handsome mens appeared surroundered by the screams of the fans, the lights, and the fireworks. Their voices are incredible in real life, they are a hundred more times handsome in real life than in pictures and videos, they were respectful and thankful with all their fans and even tried to talk in french, Jungkook danced for the fans even if he was injured, Taehyung was sick and his voice wasn't at full, but i couldn't realise it until he said so. Seokjin was a bit sick, but he didn't show any sight of so. The others were fantastic too, the blue-haired Jimin, the president Namjoon, the handsome Hoseok (in my opinion he is the one that changes the most from pictures to reality, he is really, really hot, and he is so energetic and happy), and Yoongi, who killed my with his voice, his dance, his appearance, his rap, in one word: seesaw.

Also my bias was Taehyung and i can say that getting to see him was extremely awesome, he is so perfect, he is indeed the most handsome man of the world, and even if he was sad because he couldn't give his best, his performance was absolutely perfect, i couldn't be able to ask for more.

All in all, the best experience in my live, i hope maybe next year they come to Spain so that the people that couldn't go can see them.

The BTS concert was the most shocking experience that I ever had.

Queuing all day was not a problem, I met a lot of ARMYS from all over the world with the same motivation to see our boys. We were all day singing, sharing experiences and exploring the venue. Nevertheless, the O2 regulations were very specific about camping and how prohibited was it and even so they honoured the queue started by campers sooner than expected by the rules. That fact was heartbreaking because a lot of armys synchronized their flights to get there in time as well as others had to spend money on a hotel (me included) to stay during the night to respect the regulations.

Once inside was kind of a war, mostly if you are standing. People pushed from every corner of the space (which is comprehensible) to get a better view and that conditioned the experience a lot. In my case I was on the right side of the stage (relatively close) but I was so stucked into the crowd that I couldn't even refer to my friends who were behind me. Anyways this was not anyone fault, I'm just relating my experience without blaming.

As soon as the boys were on stage I got paralyzed. I just couldn't believe that something that I'd been following for so much time through media was suddenly in front of me (and looking damn good). Song after song the only phrase on my mind was: this cannot be real.

Going to a BTS concert is like the last level and thing that an army can do/achieve to feel closer to her/his idols. I just wish that there could be a way to express my love to them that didn't involve money. Dreaming is free right?

In conclusion, we had no problems with the tickets, in the venue the staff treated us very kindly (they offered us water during the show) and it was totally worth it, money cannot tell how valuable was the experience. I've just wished that that same morning the O2 had communicated about the queue news because I found out thanks to anonymous Twitter users.

BTS said that they would definitely comeback to the UK which makes me very happy. This announcement motivated me to be a better person for the next time I see them because as I said, I really felt like I didn't deserve it, I didn't deserve so much love and dedication from this wonderful people. They've helped me and other people in such a way, that I just want all the love, best and heaven for them.

It was surreal. I've never thought i would ever get to see BTS in real life nor to join one of their concerts. They came to Amsterdam, ziggodome. I was in line for GA since 8 am, it was a chill line untill we all had to move around 3 pm. People started cutting in line, pushing etc. We had to stand real close in the sun for another two hours. It went rather unfair, people who arrived at 11 or 12 am were standing in front of me in the concert. And we still had to wait another three hours untill the show actually began. I didn't move a muscle once I was in the concert venue and yet I managed to get further back once it was almost time for the show and my friends were even further behind me. But it was worth all the hassle. I didn't get to look at the boys well even though I was decently close to the side of the stage (probably 5 or 6 rows before me) and that was puerly because people in front of us decided it was needed to film the whole concert so we were looking at beautiful phones almost the whole 3 hours.

Even though it felt like I was never there and it never happened. Even though it went unfair and my view was mostly blocked because of others. It was still worth it. Maybe not worth the price we had to pay for the tickets. Next time maybe make sections in GA as well. It seems unfair for people who pay equal amount and ended up in the back.

The music was amazing, the boys and their speeches were adorable.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. All the time. The screen? No I want to look at them in flesh, but the boys are spreaded all over the stage nor I couldn't see because of the phones blocking my view. It was hard to decide and I think this is also why it feels like I missed out on so much.

Next year I'll go for VIP or seating. The stress and lining up hours before, pushing etc in GA was just not it for me and for only 50 euros more you'd have a guaranteed good spot AND soundcheck. It just seems a bit unfair.

But the concert itself was amazing and I would go through all of that all over again. I made friends and had a great moment I'll think about the rest of my life.

Honestly the concert was great and BTS is way hotter in person it was hard to believe they were real. The problem I had was how TGM made us wait outside in the cold, rainy weather. I happened to be standing outside 5 hours and I was seated in the last row. I have read other reviews saying things like the security guards pushed them. Thankfully that didn't happen to us but we were still screamed at and we didn't get to hold their hands we just walked down the line and slightly high five them. Another thing I had a problem which is that the local artist played more songs than BTS themselves. The local artist played 5 and BTS played 4 or 5. Even if both BTS and the local artist both played 5 songs the local artist shouldn't have the same amount of songs as BTS because that's why most people were there. To see BTS. I happen to be black so standing in the rain for 5 hours made my hair get really big and I happened to look like i had a bad hair day. It also messed up my makeup. If you want to know what I looked like just imagine Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz gone goth. I happened to be wearing a black t-shirt and a choker and my hair was down but from standing in the rain my hair got really big and puffy so I tried restyling it. The only way that it didn't look too bad was when I put my hair in braids BAM goth dorthy. I honestly don't think I will ever go to another TGM event unless I make sure to buy VIP. VIP's were lucky enough to enter before us, see BTS before us, and stay to take a group with BTS after we left. Another thing that was a problem was that my friend who was supposed to meet me inside the venue wasn't allowed in as they said there were no more seats. There were plenty of seats left for her, her mom, and her sister. The only problem is that they wouldn't be together. There were many spots were 2 seats were open but they still weren't let in. The good thing is that they got a full refund, a hitouch, and a group photo since they weren't able to see the concert.

A memorable night at the O2 as BTS kicked off their first European tour in London. The boys pulled off a very enjoyable and impressive night, even with Jungkook not being in best condition and with the late start to the concert (which I assume was done because plans changed since rehearsals).

Before the show fans qued up outside just to take photos with the giant billboard showcasing the tour poster.

I was with my dad who had no clue what to expect really, so this was maybe not such a good start.

I was not trying to scare him off, believe me.

Unfortunately, all merchandise except light sticks had been sold out by the time we entered the arena, although, I wasn’t really suprised considering the circumstances. I regret not buying a lightstick in the end because in a BTS concert WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS?! I do not have a phone to hold. When I tried clapping or dancing the girl next to me started to slowly back away. At one point, I swear to god she was so far away that she was in the isle (fire hazard, or what?).

The show started with a few of their new songs (like IDOL and I’m fine). Everybody cheered when they introduced themselves and I will admit that I lost my voice within 10 minutes of the concert.

In between segments short videos would play or the members would talk to the audience. They were very sweet overall and it made me happy to see them still able to express themselves so well in such a new environment where they cannot speak the language with a lot of confidence.

I had to leave during the truth untold because I had to catch a train but what I did see has made me even more eager to come back and watch a full concert with my best friend who could not come this time.

As for my unwilling a dad, he said that he was suprised that he liked it and that it was one of the best performances he has been to. For next time though, he said introductions could be shorter.

I can not wait until next time!!! ♥️

I was so happy I was going to a BTS concert but unfortunately I got up late because I wanted to be the first one there (new that would happen) but I got dressed and did my hair but a mixed girl to do my hair needs about 30 minutes to get ready and after that i went there and so many people were in line

( new that would happen too) when I had got in line a girl stepped on another girls foot and told me to leave I could not believe my eyes what army would hurt another army (like we are on your team) but me being the angel I am (not really) i went up and told the girl to stop and she got mad at me (bad choice) she was yelling at me so I tried to walk off and she grabbed my hair by this point I was mad and I slapped her she let go and started to cry a guy who was buff came up and then said that i would have to leave but the girl who got her foot stepped on stood up for me her name was akana and she and i did not end up leaving but akana and me talked and we were friends once we reached the beginning of the line it was my turn and akana was waiting inside so they said that My ticket was invalid honestly I could not believe it after all this I looked like crap but just at that moment I found a vip pass on the ground I picked it up even though I did not pay for it I felt bad but finally after a while I was seated and when the concert started I screamed at the top of my lungs when it ended I found akana we got to stay after the concert and took pictures with BTS

(what pure luck) I wanted to die but today still me and akana are still huge fans of BTS and best friends now even if i know that akana is dying from cancer she will fight through and make sure to see another BTS concert with me and to become a KPOP singer she will pull through support her pray for her please.

Ummm the concert was good I ended up getting bronchitis from the cold and due to the fact my asthma kicked in but it was hilarious because when I called my little sister she thought I was a man I never laughed so hard in my life and I don’t like to smile or laugh so I was kinda glad I got sick but then it hurt to even talk or drink water so that was bad but the concert was wild. I ended making a friend and she is older than me...(I always end up being the youngest but I look older than what I am) and she gave me a talk about how high school is going to be like. The only reason why I was able to go was because of my cousin and I am happy she was able to take me. I studied too much the day before no not even EVERYDAY before the concert because trying to go to high school...so I was numb with knowledge and forgot what excitement was but when we walked into the stadium I had anxiety but I ended up getting pass it after I realized that I sang before on a stage and people actually like it and it was a huge stage so I felt better and then blah blah blah lost my voice blah blah blah almost fell...lies I did fall like multiple times but that was because I am the biggest klutz blah blah blah nervous but SOOOO HAPPY blah blah blah screamed out high notes (that was were I made my mistake) blah blah blah then was being a goofball on my way out of the stadium with my cousin when we went to the car and met up with my uncle...so basically I enjoyed it and wow did I write a lot...probably should shorten this but I have bracelets to make and sell and they aren’t going to do it themselves so GREAT JOB BTS and to the amazing staff and yeah EVERYBODY THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE YOU GUYS AND GALS ARE AMAZING AND YOU GUYS AND GALS SHOULD KNOW THAT!

2023 update | Everything You Need To Know About BTS So Far...

Updated: Aug 9, 2023

BTS has taken the world by storm, in just a few years, the seven-member boy band is considered by named Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential people on the internet! How about that, huh?

In short, it’s difficult not to like their beautiful songs and adorable personalities. Here's everything you need to know about the K-pop group so far…

bts band tour 2023

BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단 ; RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan), a.k.a s the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band that began formation in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.

All about the concert film and BTS

BTS is a boy band and is made up of seven members – RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The group formed in 2010, with their first album Dark & Wild coming out in 2014. Before that, the very first song the band released was “2 Cool 4 Skool.” Their music focuses on themes like mental health, coming of age, and self-love.

BTS: Yet to Come took place at the at the Asiad Main Stadium in Busan, South Korea when the group performed in October 2022 for Busan’s World Expo 2030 bid. The concert film includes 19 of their hits that many of you diehard fans will recognize including Dynamite,” “Butter,” “RUN,” “MIC Drop,” “Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” and more.

In the summer of 2022, BTS had to go on a temporary hiatus as the five men have to take part in the South Korean mandatory military service. The plan is for them to be back sometime in 2025. So while we anxiously await their return, the great news is that we have the concert film to look forward to watching. That’s definitely what I’ll be doing for the foreseeable future until the boys can get back together!

Top Concerts, Online Shows, Festivals of 2023: Bandwagon Picks – BTS' SUGA, Tilly Birds, SixTONES, Laufey, NCT DOJAEJUNG, Wanderland, Maho Rasop, Fuji Rock Festival, and more

Top Concerts, Online Shows, Festivals of 2023: Bandwagon Picks – BTS' SUGA, Tilly Birds, SixTONES, Laufey, NCT DOJAEJUNG, Wanderland, Maho Rasop, Fuji Rock Festival, and more

We won't blame you if your head is still stuck at that 2023 concert that changed your life forever, because honestly, some of us are still there with you.

2023 was a good year for shows across the region and beyond, with the likes of  BTS' SUGA , 88rising,  and Harry Styles drawing in crowds all over Singapore, Arctic Monkeys ,  Laufey , and Tilly Birds making noise in Manila, and Maho Rasop Festival  and The Strokes delivering unforgettable moments to music fans in Bangkok.

Here are the top gigs and festivals of 2023, according to the Bandwagon team.

SUGA | AGUST D TOUR 'D-DAY' (SG)

Being the first solo world tour by a BTS member, SUGA ’s SUGA | AGUST D TOUR 'D-DAY' was something that ARMYs had looked forward to with eager anticipation from the moment it was announced. And in true SUGA fashion, the ‘Haegeum’ act surpassed even the highest of expectations when he stopped over in Singapore for a three-night residency last June.

BANDWAGON TV

In my concert review, I called SUGA’s second Singapore show an “inspirational story of courage, hope, and self-love”. While ARMYs would have appreciated this story the most, what was remarkable about it was that it was powerful enough to move newcomers to the world of SUGA (AKA Agust D ), such as this writer. In a two-hour spectacle, that resembled a big-budget stage production at times, we learnt about the man behind tracks such as ‘Daecwhita’ , ‘Snooze’ , and ‘People’ , saw the bravery of an individual who had overcome his demons to become a better version of himself, and found healing and solace in his music. We witnessed a SUGA who was at the very top of his game showcase his prowess as a rapper and songwriter and command the attention of all attendees with his magnetic stage presence.

Nearly seven months later, I still cannot stop thinking about what I saw and heard at the Singapore leg of the SUGA | AGUST D TOUR 'D-DAY' . Having gained a better understanding of who SUGA is, I find myself able to appreciate his music on a level that I was not able to before catching him in concert. - Brandon Raeburn, Staff Writer

TILLY BIRDS: LIVE IN MANILA (PH)

bts band tour 2023

It was my first time watching Tilly Birds live in concert myself, and I found myself thinking how it almost felt like watching a coming-of-age film unfold. It had everything: angst, heartbreak, unrequited love, pining, sorrow, even a vivid and frantic rager, bursts of shiny confetti, a "sea of stars," and an eventual goodbye – perfectly soundtracked by Tilly Birds’ discography.

Their recordings don’t do enough justice to their live performances. The band’s powerful and almost cinematic renditions of each song on the setlist take you to another memory, regardless of whether you can understand the Thai lyrics, or as in my case,  just let the music take you to a moment in time. Every note, every beat, every beam of light - they trigger memories and stir up emotions you probably didn’t know you had at that time.

As with any story, all things must come to an end. After a 22-song setlist which also included jamming out and a three-track encore, the band gave us closure by saying goodbye with a group photo to capture their precious first Manila memories. “See you next year!” Tilly Birds promised Filipino fans as the lights dimmed down leaving us with the blanket of stars, eagerly waiting for next year - or, for some lucky ticket holders, photo time. Another opportunity to make more memories. - Camille Castillo, Editorial Director

Maho Rasop Festival 2023

Maho Rasop continued to prove itself as the destination for indie music lovers in Thailand with a two-day event that boasted an excellent curation of diverse international, regional and local artists and an immersive festival experience that felt like a homecoming for its well-fostered community.

Pretty much all of the things we said about the festival in 2019 still rang true on this second visit. I’ve been to plenty of indie gigs back home and here in Thailand, and being in Maho Rasop appeared to be culmination of sorts of what makes the scene such a source of excitement and comfort for many people. It’s not about explosive headliners, but more about a combination of seeing both long-time and fresh favourites in the flesh and the promise of discovering new acts to love. It’s not just about watching performances on the various stages but getting to soak and chill in the presence of so many like-minded individuals. I also managed to catch up with friends from the Philippines who were attending for the first time, and their observations mirrored much of my own experience with the festival. The venue and lineup may change, but the spirit of this collective celebration of indie music will surely endure. - Ginny Palma, Contributing Editor

Harry Styles: Love On Tour 2023 (SG)

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by @harrystyles

17 March 2023 soon became one to remember as Harry Styles held his biggest show in Singapore to date at the National Stadium  at  8 PM . The evening was nothing short of impressive performances from Harry and his spectacular live band, heartwarming fan encounters, and iconically enough, fruits — in various forms — fitting of a concert from the fruit man himself.

For an event as large of a scale as this was, Harry was perfectly capable of holding his own stage. Backed by an incredible live band, the gifted artist stunned audiences with his confident, euphonious, and easily distinguishable vocals and achieved the impressive feat of commandeering an immense 32,000-strong crowd — all signs that pointed to how he was simply born to be a performer.

Dedicated fans were also quick to discern and adore the little quirks that Harry possesses as a performer — the same mannerisms, such as his animated dance steps that are just bursting with vivacious energy, that show how he’s fully immersing himself into the music as all great musicians and performers do.

Wanderland Music and Arts Festival 2023 (PH)

After three challenging years,  Karpos Multimedia ’s highly anticipated annual music and arts festival is back in the game. Returning to their homecourt at the  Filinvest City Event Grounds  in Alabang, the weekend was a playground of exciting moshpits, delicious treats, dream-come-trues, and life-changing performances.

Wanderland 2023: The Comeback  features a slew of artists that will touch on different types of music fans. Whatever your music preferences or generation grew up in, there's something for you.  Dashboard Confessional  pulled in millennials who grew up listening to emo, while headliner  Carly Rae Jepsen ’s cult following for her distinct pop voice gathered her strong fanbase for Day 1. What really highlights the 10th anniversary of Wanderland is Day 2 headliner  Phoenix  who was one of the first artists  Karpos Multimedia  brought to Manila back in 2014– truly a full circle moment, and what a comeback indeed.

The Strokes Asia Tour 2023

bts band tour 2023

Over 5,000 fans filled the Thunder Dome for the  VIJI Corp -helmed concert on  18 July 2023 , all eager to relive their youth and nostalgic musical memories. Seeing The Strokes logo light up the stage felt like going back in time, to when we first discovered the band that would later inspire us to start bands ourselves or shape our musical tastes and preferences.

Cheers echoed across the arena as our teenage heroes  Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond, Jr., Nick Valensi, Nikolai Fraiture , and  Fab Moretti  went onstage to take their places and launched into  ‘The Modern Age.’  With minimal fanfare (and lighting haha), the band went straight into playing  ‘Bad Decisions,’  one of the two “newer” songs on the setlist, and powered through the rest of the evening.

While we stood in a venue full of thousands of people, it felt as if we were watching a show with all of our friends. It was familiar and comforting, almost like experiencing a rite of passage together.

The Strokes concert proved to be more than just a show. It was a tick off the concert bucket list, a dream come true for our teenage selves. It became a reunion of sorts for old friends and a place to make new ones – whether intentional or not. I found myself standing right next to an old classmate from university (one I hadn’t seen in almost a decade), and running into band friends we met just the night before.

The Strokes weren’t there to entertain, or to put on a spectacle. The band “thundered onstage” with their “effortless energy,” and in all its simplicity and straightforwardness, “it was glorious”. The band still sounded great. With minimal small talk between the members, The Strokes played the songs that accompanied us while we were growing up, took us on a nostalgic trip, and reminded us why live music will forever be one of the best collective experiences one can ever have. - Camille Castillo, Editorial Director

bts band tour 2023

For years, I’ve been keeping up with The Strokes ’ live performances on YouTube, hoping for a chance to watch them in the flesh. So when the American rock band broke the news that they will be heading to Singapore’s Sands Expo® and Convention Centre on 2 and 3 August 2023 for solo shows, I was absolutely astounded.

A fever dream come true, I watched the signature no-frills, no-theatrics performances unfold to become a core memory. Dubbed as “one of the most influential bands of the early 21st century”, the arrival of the band in the Lion City called upon a reunion of sorts between fans of various generations, proof of the timeless appeal of their music.

Sticking by their authentic garage revival sound that we’ve come to know and love since their debut in 2001, they served classic tracks such as ‘ Last Nite ’, ‘ Someday ’, ‘ Under Control ’, and ‘ Juicebox ’, and newer releases like ‘ Bad Decisions ’ and ‘ The Adults Are Talking ’ off their sixth studio album The New Abnormal . Just by listening to the pure soundtrips of Julian Casablancas (vocals), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar), Nick Valensi (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass), and Fabrizio Moretti (drums), a wave of nostalgia crashed into Singapore shores. What made both nights even more memorable, would be the band’s improvisation in between the set, Julian’s casual conversation with Nikolai, and Fab tossing away his drumsticks to fans.

The shows were not merely a performance, but it was a testament to the lasting legacy of The Strokes. While it may be a while before these indie rock veterans return to Singapore (or even churn out new material), I’ll be basking in the post-concert depression that’s still residing in me.  - Adlina Adam, Writer

NEO KAWAII FESTIVAL (JP)

bts band tour 2023

Attending mid-sized gigs is my favourite way to party, and Japanese pop band CHAI ’s NEO KAWAII FESTIVAL 2023 had encapsulated so much of what I love about them.

Held at Zepp Shinjuku, which has a capacity of 1,500 people, the show was just the right size to let guests get close enough to enjoy the performances on stage and dance their hearts out on the floor. According to CHAI, “neo kawaii” is not just about being cute but also cool, and it’s something that applies to anyone who wants to express themselves in a way only they can without shame. And that’s exactly what everyone at the event did.

The girls themselves curated the line-up, which featured Japanese producer STUTS and Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit , who brought each brought their unique sounds, vibrant energy, and own brand of cool cuteness. At some point, Phum joined STUTS for a bit during his set and I could hear the girls behind me going, “ KAWAIIIIIII!!! ”. They were absolutely right to say it! Of course, CHAI, the stars of the show, brought an extra special super mega dose of energy during their turn to rock the stage. Towards the end, they invited their guest artists up again with them, and it felt like the whole of Zepp Shinjuku that time truly burst with the neo kawaii spirit. - Ginny Palma, Contributing Editor

Good Vibes Festival 2023

bts band tour 2023

Good Vibes   Festival  welcomed its 10th anniversary with a rocky start, one we’ve heard and talked about. But, the Malaysian music festival has always been a destination for celebration and fun, and even for its short-lived run this year, it lived up to just that.

What was supposed to be three days’ worth of festivities were  abruptly halted  due to  The 1975 ’s  behaviour on stage  during their headlining set on Day 1. While it made countless headlines all over the globe, there were a handful of performances and festivities that went on that day undeserving of being overshadowed.

Regardless of personal opinions and values on the incident, what had ultimately happened was that Good Vibes  did not get the 10th anniversary it deserved, local musicians did not get the spotlight they worked hard to prepare for, and music fans who made their way from all parts of the world did not get the weekend they had long waited for.

With a new location and a larger community of excited music fans,  Good Vibes Festival 2023  showed promise. It’s just too bad that it all had to come to an end before it even got a chance to fulfil it.

Arctic Monkeys Asia Tour 2023

bts band tour 2023

After years of waiting, Arctic Monkeys finally made their way to Singapore. A celebration of nostalgia and pure rock extravaganza, the one-night only show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium is easily an achievement of the year to the 10,000-strong crowd that successfully fought for tickets.

Within the 21-track setlist, it was enough for band members Alex Turner (vocals), Matt Helders (drums), Jamie Cook (guitars), and Nick O’Malley (bass) to satisfy our long-held craving of hearing their music live, as they flawlessly delivered their quintessential signature indie rock sound. Known for the evolution in their sound across the discography – from the punchy and electrifying garage rock soundtrips of Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not to the velvety and melancholic ballads of The Car – it’s safe to say that we were able to witness the full spectrum of their sonic journey.

Despite the minimal theatrics and words spoken to the crowd, the band could command the attention of the entire stadium through the sheer force of their music. Through it all, what seemed like a far-fetched dream at the start, is finally a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be remembered. - Adlina Adam, Writer

In Arctic Monkeys’ first Manila concert, all things come to those who wait – gig report

For as long as I can remember, for as long as I’ve been frequenting concerts – way before I started covering them – there had been such a clamour for Arctic Monkeys to come to Manila. Fans would practically beg for someone to book them every summer festival season. Imagine the relief (and the sudden scramble afterwards) when it was announced that they would finally stage a show here – from Karpos Multimedia, the makers of Wanderland themselves, one of the favourite targets for such appeals (note: it was the early 2010s’s music festival boom).

In the interlude, a lot has happened though. The cultural landscape has immensely shifted. We’ve gone way past the peak of indie sleaze, cooler-than-thou hipsterism, tastemaking sans algorithms from Pitchfork and Stereogum, and new music discovery by way of Tumblr and... IYKYK. Also, just 4 years ago, a major catastrophe befell the globe in the form of a hyper-transmissible virus. Yet, Arctic Monkeys was and still is an enduring icon of those years, and even now, they continue to reassert their impact and influence – just look at their recent masterpiece, The Car (2022).

When I got to the festival grounds on that cold breezy evening in March, I really was expecting to join just a few thousand indie “kids” my age witness the rock band of our generation play a monumental 21-song set (‘Brianstorm’! ‘Teddy Picker’! I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor’!) to satisfy our nostalgia and tick another item on our bucket lists. I looked around, bewildered to see folks that are probably the age of Your Favourite Worst Nightmare (the doing of ‘505’ on TikTok, I theorised) . I’m not gatekeeping at all – I promise – but that was the moment I realised how the things I loved in my formative years are now cultural touchstones.

Alex Turner didn’t talk much at that show – apart from the obligatory “thank you” and “what a night” – but as I said back then , there was gravity in his brevity. For me, the wait took more than a decade, and when the house lights turned on, it dawned on me that the show of a lifetime had ended.

Just like their song goes: “Sad to see you go.” But I keep my hopes up for another round of singing along to ‘Cornerstone’. - Paolo Abad, Contributing Writer

Scented Symphony: Perfume Fancon in Manila (PH)

NCT DOJAEJUNG (NCT DJJ) is the most recent iteration from the limitless group, NCT. The members Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo have been in the Philippines in the past, but this event marked not just their very first fancon in Manila, but their first ever in their career as a unit as well.

The air was thick with anticipation as the first lights beamed upon the crowd for the trio’s first song, 'Kiss.' The rest of the program was filled with exciting games, unexpected fan interactions, and performances that thrilled the entire arena. The event revealed itself to be a treat for Pinoy NCTzens and international fans who flew as NCT DJJ performed all the songs from their 6-song mini album, Perfume . Despite the simple set-up, the trio filled the stage with their sleek choreography and alchemy of unique charms.

Despite the rocky lead-up to the concert in terms of ticketing, information dissemination, and the several points for improvements in the areas of lighting design and stage logistics; what made it notable is the producer’s foresight in putting together this fancon in the first place. As of writing, no other NCT DOJAEJUNG fancon or concert has been announced and it doesn't seem like there will be one at all anymore, or at least in the foreseeable future, which makes “Scented Symphony” truly a once-in-a-lifetime event for all NCTzens. Looking back, the trio left a lasting scent that fans will always long for in the many years to come. - Isa Almazan, Contributing Writer

Kansei no Housoku in DOME (JP)

bts band tour 2023

SixTONES ’ first Tokyo Dome concert as a debuted group was a milestone moment not only for them but for their fans as well. It was my first time seeing them in person after getting to know them a little over a year and it made for an experience of a lifetime.

Even from the stands, I could feel their energy positively pulsating through the crowds – these guys know how to bring a party to over 50,000 people. From explosive visuals that enhanced their commanding presence on stage to a setlist that effectively displayed their versatility as artists, SixTONES was able to claim Tokyo Dome as their own, and further proved they have what it takes to become world-class superstars. - Ginny Palma, Contributing Editor

Karpos Live Presents Laufey (PH)

bts band tour 2023

Presented by  Karpos Live , Laufey opened her first-ever Asia tour in June 2023 with a sold-out show in Manila’s The Filinvest Tent . The moment you walked through the doors, it felt comforting and familiar even in the moments before the  ‘Magnolia’  singer emerged on stage.

As everyone warmed up with a pre-show playlist full of jazz hits and pop favourites (which, of course, we all sang too) and as Laufey fuels herself up with  Filipino snacks we gifted her during our interview , you couldn’t help but notice the diverse crowd that filled all corners of the venue, from parents who went to join their kids to teenagers excitedly buzzing with their friends. Laufey has always made it her mission to introduce jazz to young audiences and this crowd was a testament she was doing a great job.

“I’m not going to lie, this is the biggest concert I’ve ever played and I’m so honoured to have this special moment in the Philippines. This is so mind-blowing,” she expressed to the crowd with bright eyes, thanking the over 2,000-strong crowd for being there.

In here, it’s okay to cry-laugh over failed dates, mourn broken hearts, yearn for love while also being scared of it, and give into a romance you never thought you deserved. Her songs are an invitation to feel your feelings, even the most complicated and uncomfortable ones, and as she performs them live, she engulfs everyone in a safe space where you can simply be.

SEVENTEEN in CARAT Land 2023: SVT 7th Fan Meeting (KR)

CARAT Land, SEVENTEEN’s annual fan meeting, is a core part of the CARAT experience, the diamond life. While it doesn’t exactly count as a concert – those famous, spectacular ones that finish with ‘아주 Nice’ on loop for minutes on end – but it’s a grand, joyous affair nonetheless. To borrow the words of SNL’s Stefon , CARAT Land has everything: madcap antics, canon events for the fandom (Wonwoo’s and Woozi’s takes on NewJeans songs; Joshua with Agust D's ‘대취타’; showing pre-debut TWS ‘파이팅 해야지’, among others), and emotional roller coaster rides. The 13 members’s quirks and charms take the spotlight here; there’s good reason why they’re considered comedy and performance kings – perhaps even outside the community of avid fans. It’s all about the fan service, obviously, but if you ever get to experience it – as a longtime CARAT or a new one; on the ground or online – you’ll see what makes the group so one-of-a-kind – and once-in-a-lifetime.

The 2023 edition came at an uncanny juncture in their career. This all happened shortly before FML was released. Later becoming the bestselling K-Pop album of all time , that mini-album cemented their stature as industry titans. This CARAT Land saw them taking stock of the dreams they’ve accomplished thus far, making memories with their cherished fans to power them through such a momentous year.

“I’ve achieved many dreams: debut, first place, Daesang, Dome Tour ,” Hoshi told the crowd at Seoul’s KSPO dome and online, adding: “Now, my dream is to show you CARATs a performance you’ll be proud of. That will be my dream and drive me to work harder than ever before.”

“We’ll always do our best for 20, even 200 years! We’ll be working together for a long time, so I hope you know that, okay?”, promised DK. (항상 저희가 더 최선 다해서 20년, 200년! 앞으로 오래오래 함께 일할 거니까 그렇게 [아셨으면 좋겠어요~] 알았죠?). - Paolo Abad, Contributing Writer

Snow Man Special Live ~ New Year’s Eve Fun with Everyone! ~ (JP)

Multiple-record-breaking J-pop group Snow Man did not let 2023 end without making another bang with their special New Year’s Eve concert. Streamed live for free on YouTube, it gathered over one million viewers from the start and peaked at 1.33 million simultaneous views during the broadcast, the highest in Japan since 2020; this might seem modest for international viewers, but it’s quite a feat considering they were competing with several live digital and terrestrial TV countdown events – including the prestigious NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen .

It was the main event I tuned into that evening, having become a fan of the group in the past couple of years and also because of the sheer ease of only needing to pop open YouTube to watch it, and it really did not disappoint. The special concert did more than give a glimpse but really showcased everything that makes the group such spectacular entertainers – from their energetic and high-spec dance and vocal performances, to the variety appeal and exhilarating sense of humour they displayed during their parodies of each other’s sub-unit songs that were filled with the most unexpected twists, it was truly a testament to why Snow Man is beloved by so many.

Furthermore, the special live offered something fresh and unique from their in-person live concerts, incorporating advanced VFX technology with practical stage set ups to create seamless connections between song numbers and segments. Like many, I was amazed that such a high-cost concert production was being shown online and worldwide in real-time for free (it was also recently announced that revenue from the stream would entirely be donated to the recent Noto Peninsula Earthquake relief efforts ). It seriously felt like having a super-mega-enhanced Snow Man live experience, and made me even more excited to see what new things the group will bring in 2024 and the years to come. - Ginny Palma, Contributing Editor

Woodz World Tour [Oo-Li] in Manila (PH)

bts band tour 2023

Making his first debut with K-pop group UNIQ nearly a decade ago, Woodz’ journey towards one of the most creative individuals in K-pop has been storied. He brings all that experience and range in this concert, exhibiting his expansive ability to write music that spans across genres, and bringing it to life once he steps on stage.

The night aptly opened with 'Busted', mirroring WOODZ’s high-frequency performances. This was followed by his song 'Dirt On My Leather' with a message that beckons on dusting the dirt off yourself when you proverbially fall down. Lighter pop songs such as 'On My Own,' 'Sour Candy,' and 'Bump bump' also made appearances in the setlist, which was a nice break from the heavier parts of the night.

One of the evening’s highlights is his performance of “Trigger.” When the song culminates in him chanting “teobeokteobeok georeooneun'' the entire theatre erupts in impassioned singing alongside him,  the thumping percussion seemingly like the heartbeat of the evening.

As a soloist, Woodz is a master of winning over any crowd. It’s no feat carrying a show from start to finish but this triumph stands on the back of his supporting team, as well. His backup dancers and his band, who all gave commendable performances, matched and complemented the energy of the Woodz's showmanship and songs.

The concert brought fans to many places; highs and lows, deep and buoyant. Wherever you may be in the New Frontier Theater , Woodz' pure cool and earnestness was clear as day and his true self filled the entire venue. - Isa Almazan, Contributing Writer

Fuji Rock Festival 2023 (JP)

2023 was the year I confirmed it myself— that Fuji Rock is the mecca of music festivals in the world. It’s the ultimate testament to the beauty of live music— people (even families and kids!) from all over gather to celebrate, have clean fun, and let loose for a weekend all in such a breathtaking backdrop. I’d say it’s probably one of the most beautiful concert stages in the world with lush green landscapes and endless blue skies. It’s an experience that I hope every music fan gets to have at least once. It’s no wonder why people go every year regardless of the lineup. - Iya Forbes, Contributing Photographer

88rising Presents at the 2023 Formula One Singapore Grand Prix (SG)

After hearing of the Los Angeles, Pasadena, New York, Jakarta, and Manila editions of 88rising ’s popular Head In The Clouds festival, one must have wondered if the event would ever land on Singapore’s shores. In September 2023, fans of 88rising in the Lion City finally got what they had been hoping for (sort of).

Although it took on a different name — 88rising Presents — the American media company’s showcase at the Padang on the first day of the 2023 Formula One Singapore Grand Prix had everything that you would look forward to at a Head In The Clouds event. With a good mix of familiar faces, such as Jackson Wang , Rich Brian , and NIKI , and fast-rising stars, including MILLI and XG , the showcase was you could gather to both sing and dance along to your favourite tunes and make exciting new musical discoveries. Whether it was a cinematic display from Jackson Wang, a joyous dance party hosted by XG, or a mass karaoke session led by NIKI, each performance brought a unique flavour to 88rising Presents . And if solo performances were not already enough, the showcase ended on a high with a medley that included collaborative performances of hits such as ‘The Weekend’ , ‘California’ , and more.

And if the strong reception that 88rising Presents received from the Singapore crowd proved anything, it is that it would definitely be worthwhile to (officially) bring the Head In The Clouds festival to the Southeast Asian country sometime in the future. Fingers crossed. - Brandon Raeburn, Staff Writer

bts band tour 2023

The Bangtan Boys (or BTS) are a seven-member South Korean boy band founded by Big Hit Entertainment.

The band’s 2013 debut album, 2 Cool 4 Skool, quickly won them numerous New Artist of the Year awards and a massive fan base worldwide.

Forbes named the Korean boy band BTS the most retweeted artist of 2016; their total retweets surpassed those of both then-US President Donald Trump and Justin Bieber.

They have so far put out nine studio albums between Korean and Japanese, been nominated for a Grammy and a Brit Award, and been honored with several other awards. The 2020 offerings “Be” and “Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey” were their most current.

In this article

Name of the BTS members

Jungkook, V, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, and Rap Monster make up the rest of BTS’s seven-member lineup. Kim Nam-Joon (RM), Kim Seok-jin (Jin), Min Yoon-gi (Suga), Jung Ho-Seok (J-Hope), Park Ji-min (Jimin), Kim Tae-Hyung (V), and Jeon Jung-kook (V) are all stage names; their given names are Kim, Nam, Seok, and Jin, respectively (Jungkook).

Touring Career of BTS

Past BTS concert tours are summarized here.

· 2022 – PTD (Las Vegas only)

· 2021 – PTD (Los Angeles only)

· 2020 – Map of the Soul Tour

· 2018 – Love Yourself World Tour

· 2017 – The Wings Tour

· 2015 – The Red Bullet Tour

In 2023, will BTS finally take the road?

In 2023, BTS will embark on a world tour. However, the tour dates have yet to be finalized.

Who knows BTS’s setlist?

While BTS’s setlist may change slightly depending on the location, it will likely feature the following songs:

· I’m Fine

· Magic Shop

· Trivia 起: Just Dance

· Serendipity

· Trivia 承: Love

· 21st Century Girl

· Blood Sweat & Tears

· Boy In Luv

· Airplane Pt.2

· Singularity

· FAKE LOVE

· Trivia 轉: Seesaw

· The Truth Untold

· Outro: Tear

· Answer: Love Myself

What is the average length of a BTS concert?

Depending on the headliner, the support acts, the encore, etc., a concert might take anywhere from two to three hours. Usually, a BTS concert will run for around 2.5 hours.

How much are the tickets?

Prices for BTS tickets on the secondary market are pretty variable. The cheapest BTS tickets are available for $818, with the average price being $3,500.

Final Thoughts

With the release of Love Yourself: Tear in 2018, BTS became the first and only Korean act to achieve No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. Both Love Yourself: Answer and Map of the Soul: Persona, the band’s subsequent albums, debuted at No. 1 in the United States. As a result, BTS became the first band since The Beatles to release three consecutive No. 1 albums in a year. The band collaborated with UNICEF on a Love Myself anti-violence campaign beyond the song. The delegation also made statements to the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations. In spreading the Korean language and culture via their music, the band members have effectively become cultural ambassadors for Korea. The youngest winners of the Order of Cultural Merit were members of BTS, who received it from South Korea’s president.

How to Stream Live Concerts

The best channels and services for watching live musical performances, documentaries, and historical footage

Easton Smith

Ideally, we’d all be able to pick up our lives and take a trip to see our favorite band in concert. But even the most avid music fans can’t make it to every show and festival. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to get your music fix without leaving the couch.

Here we’ll go over all of the best ways to enjoy musical performances at home, including services for watching live concerts, music documentaries, and historical footage of your favorite acts.

Use a live-streaming service to catch live concerts

We can’t all be digital nomads who get to roam the country in a retrofitted van following our favorite bands. But with the explosion of live streaming TV services we can still catch a piece of the action (and have a warm shower to boot).

A lot of the focus of new live-streaming services is on sports, with companies like fuboTV . But several streamers have branched out to offer virtual music events that air totally live, so you feel like you’re just another member of the audience.

If you’re wondering how to stream live concerts, these services have the answer.

Hulu isn’t just home to great shows like Great Expectations , Not Dead Yet , and Schitt’s Creek . It’s also one of the best ways to watch live music, thanks to a deal that Disney (Hulu’s parent company) cut with some major music festivals.

Hulu is the official television streaming partner for Lollapalooza, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and Bonnaroo. That’s hundreds of major acts that you watch right there. Throw in Hulu’s big library of musical shows, documentaries, and performances and you should have plenty of content to get you through the summer festival season.

All Hulu subscribers can livestream all four days of the Lollapalooza 2023 music festival.

The festival begins at 12 noon (MT) on Thursday, August 3 and runs through 9 p.m. (MT) Sunday, August 6.

There will be two channels with completely separate lineups, so there will be tons of musical acts to choose from.

Here are some of the most exciting acts in the lineup:

  • Billie Eilish - Channel 1 at 7:45 p.m. (MT)
  • Diplo - Channel 1 at 9 p.m. (MT)
  • Portugal. The Man - Channel 2 at 5:45 p.m. (MT)
  • The 1975 - Channel 1 at 9 p.m. (MT)
  • Pusha T - Channel 1 at 7:45 p.m. (MT)

The full lineup can be found on Hulu's website .

YouTube is the undisputed GOAT when it comes to finding footage of your favorite musical acts. YouTube has it all, whether it’s obscure interviews with Kurt Cobain, early rap battles between Busta Rhymes and ODB, or a professionally recorded two-hour Taylor Swift concert.

But YouTube is also increasingly offering live video streams. If you subscribe to your favorite musical artists, you may be able to catch some spontaneous live performances.

Bandcamp Live

Bandcamp has long been a hub for indie musicians who want to grow their fan base. They can release their music on the site, share news, and even play live concerts with Bandcamp Live.

To stream live concerts on Bandcamp you’ll usually have to pay a small fee ($5 is typical for smaller acts), but you get a beautiful and intimate performance that feels like you're at your own local venue.

Twitch Music

Twitch isn’t just for 13-year-old kids who want to stream Fortnite and spew edge-lord memes in their parents' basement. In fact, Twitch has grown into a huge platform where you can watch interesting people doing cool stuff, like playing chess, painting, cooking, and yes, playing music.

Twitch can be an awesome way to connect with up-and-coming artists as well as established acts. Live streams aren’t just a good way to catch live performances. They can also let you peer into the creative process as people write songs, come up with hooks, and even record.

StageIt is a unique streaming service. The only thing it offers is live concert streams. The concerts that are streamed through StageIt are only available online and they are not cataloged anywhere. It’s kind of like real life: no rewind and no replays. You just have to relive the moments in your memory, like that Green Day concert you went to back in 1999.

In the past StageIt has teamed up with some huge names, including Bon Jovi, Tom Morello, Indigo Girls, Common, Joan Jett, and Korn. But most of the artists on the service seem to be smaller, up-and-coming acts.

SongKick is more of a clearing house for concert tickets than it is a site for live streaming concerts. But the service does have a notable list of links to artists’ pages, YouTube channels, and other sites where there are streaming concerts.

If you are dying to see Bruce Springsteen’s perform live in 2023, but his tour isn’t hitting your town, then your only bet is a service called Nugs.net. That’s because Nugs has the exclusive rights to stream Bruce’s concerts. It has cut similar deals to stream other big acts, like Metallica and Santana.

To get access to Nugs live concert streams you have to sign up for a monthly subscription. There are two tiers: Premium Streaming, which costs $12.99/month, and Hi-Fi Streaming, which doubles the cost at $24.99/month. You can start with a free 7-day trial if you’re curious.

Watch recorded concerts and documentaries on streaming services

If you’re willing to give up the “live” part of the concert watching experience, then there are lots of ways to catch your favorite artists performing. Check out the extensive collections of taped concerts available on these streaming services.

HBO does everything with just a little more class than the other TV streaming services. You can catch incredibly produced concerts from The Weeknd, Lizzo, Shakira, and more with the Max streaming app (formerly HBO Max) . You can also watch some entertaining and educational music documentaries, like David Byrne's American Utopia .

Netflix has a bit of everything, including live concerts. You can catch Dolly Parton’s Here I Am , Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen), Homecoming (Beyoncé), Taylor Swift’s Reputation and more on the streaming service.

Peacock may not be as well-known as Netflix or (HBO) Max, but the streaming service has a lot of great musical content, including recorded performances from over 50 popular artists, like Rihanna.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video ’s catalog is way too big to list out here. But it includes tons of concerts and biopic movies of your favorite musicians, like Tina Turner.

Qello is all about streaming classic concerts by incredibly popular acts. It’s the Woodstock of concert streaming apps. They’ve got Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, and many more. The music may be a bit older, but, as they say, “legends never die.”

You can sign up for a free 7-day trial membership. After that, Qello charges $11.99 a month.

Follow your favorite musicians on social media

There’s nothing like the energy of a big stadium concert. That said, there’s something magic about spontaneous performance. The saxophone player in the subway, the guitar player in the park, or catching your favorite musician warming up backstage.

Musicians are increasingly using social media apps to stream these sorts of spontaneous and intimate moments. Here are some apps to check out.

Instagram Live

Instagram has become one of the go-to sites not just for pretty filtered photos, but also live clips. Many artists will share “reels” or videos of themselves doing an impromptu session or even play a concert.

Facebook Live

Much like Instagram, musicians will often go “live” on Facebook to give their fans a look into their lives. Friend or follow your favorite musicians to make sure you’re not missing anything.

Who knows how much longer Americans will have access to TikTok. But for now, you can still follow your favorite artists. You can also catch clips of big shows from fans who are using TikTok to stream their concert going experience.

Frequently asked questions

A virtual concert may never be able to convey the same sounds, sights, and smells (stale beer?) that a real live concert gives you. That said, there are some ways in which a virtual concert is better than a real one.

First of all, you don’t have to leave your couch. Second of all, you can pause or rewind when you want to go use the bathroom or heat up a frozen pizza. Finally, virtual concerts are usually a lot cheaper than buying admission to a real concert at a big venue.

As we mentioned above, Facebook Live is a great service for following your favorite musicians. Sometimes artists will stream live music, but the site itself is not always the best for watching a full-length concert.

Yes. Peacock boasts over 50 performances from popular artists, like Rihanna and Adele.

The pricing for live concert streaming varies. On the low end, artists on services like Bandcamp usually charge around $5 for a live concert stream. On the higher end you have acts like BTS, who charged $45–$55 for a single day or $81–$91 for two days for a virtual concert experience in 2020.
