Paris 2024 offers runners from around the globe the chance to live this Olympic experience firsthand.

Held on the penultimate day of the Olympics, 10 August, the Marathon Pour Tous (Marathon for All) offers 20,024 amateur runners a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to follow in the fresh footsteps of their Olympic heroes on the same course where the world's top athletes will have competed just hours before.

Starting in Paris and looping through Versailles, the 42.195-kilometer loop passes through some of the city's most iconic landmarks at every turn, providing a spectacle for runners and fans alike.

Aurélie Merle , the executive director of sport competitions for Paris 2024, says the marathon route will be an "absolutely exceptional experience."

"If running a marathon was already an experience, running on the same course as the Olympic athletes, on the same day and in a magnificent setting and at night, promises to be a great adventure, " she said in April .

The Marathon Pour Tous is not just another race; it’s a symbol of Paris 2024’s commitment to bringing the Olympics closer to everyone. Just as the opening ceremony spread across the city, inviting all citizens to partake in the festivities, this marathon invites everyday runners to share in the magic of the Olympics, running on the same streets where history was made.

Who, what, where, and when?

The organizers offer two courses, the full marathon distance, as well as a 10k option for those who prefer a shorter distance.

Starting and finishing in Central Paris, the 10k race is open to runners as young as 16. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or a casual runner, you’ll be part of the Olympic dream, crossing the same finish line at Les Invalides.

The marathon:

• 42,195km loop linking Paris and Versailles
• Starting at the Hôtel de Ville in Paris at 9pm
• Finishing at Les Invalides
• Passing through 9 districts: Paris - Boulogne-Billancourt, Sèvres, Ville d’Avray, Versailles, Viroflay, Chaville, Meudon, Issy-les-Moulineaux
• 20,024 participants
• 10k at the heart of Paris and its iconic monuments
• Starting at Paris’ City Hall at 11:30pm
• All in Central Paris

This marathon is as forward-thinking as it is historic, as Paris 2024 has designed the Marathon Pour Tous to be as inclusive and environmentally conscious as the Olympic Games. The race is accessible to all and features sustainable innovations like reusable water stations and sports equipment recycling initiatives.

Participants get ready: "I feel a little bit like a kid in a dream"

Participants from all over the world are making the pilgrimage to take place in the historic event.

Vic, 39, from Ibiza, comes to Paris as a pacer for the marathon."For me, the focus is less on the performance this time and more on the communion between the runners and the city. The course goes through such beautiful places, with a meaning, going to Versailles and back, it will be emotional. It feels like a great way to involve everyone and make the sport bigger and better, " he said.

"Running in the streets of Paris, where I have lived, in my country, during this special time, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I feel a little bit like a kid in a dream,” Vic shared.

This unique event brings together the competitive spirit of running with the camaraderie and joy of participating in the world’s biggest sporting event. “As runners, we all have a competitive side, but we also do this for the love of running, of sharing, of experiencing these amazing hard times alongside other runners, making friendships along the way,” shared the pacer, excited to help others achieve their marathon goals.

Kitdapawn E, a 65-year-old runner from Ottowa is excited to share the bragging rights with her grandchildren. "I'm just going to soak in every minute," she told CBC . "My grandchildren are still young, but someday they'll be able to say, 'My grandmother was a lottery Olympian.' "

We are expanding globally with Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT), who have 43 years as the leader in the destination marathon travel industry for runners and their supporters. With this expansion, our  running portfolio will be rebranded as Marathon Tours & Travel and is now set to offer more than 35 additional new and exciting races to their calendar, including the Antarctica Marathon® and the Patagonia Running Festival Marathon. As part of this development, the combined group offices operating in Manchester, Australia, and Boston will see an expected 50% increase in staff headcount to manage the new portfolio.

Sur le circuit italien de Misano, et sous une chaleur écrasante, « Martinator » (le surnom de Martin) a signé un départ en boulet de canon depuis la 4e place, prenant les rênes la course dès le premier virage. « Je ne m’attendais pas à un tel départ », a savouré le vainqueur du jour. « J’étais en mode qualifications ». Un temps sous la menace de Bagnaia, parti en pole position, l’Espagnol s’est finalement imposé avec 1 seconde 5/10e sur son dauphin au championnat, « absolument pas content » de sa prestation samedi.

« Le départ, a été un désastre », a-t-il regretté à l’arrivée. « C’était super compliqué ». « Mais être deuxième après ce qui s’est passé la semaine dernière, c’est ok », a-t-il aussi dit. Lors du GP d’Aragon dimanche dernier, le pilote Ducati était lourdement tombé après son accrochage avec l’Espagnol Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) et avait reconnu jeudi ne pas « encore être à 100 % » de sa forme à cause de cette chute.

Première place confortée

L’Italien Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-Pramac) a complété le Top 3 de cette course de 13 tours seulement (contre 27 pour le GP dimanche), qui décerne, lui, davantage de points au championnat. Au général, Martin conforte sa position de leader et compte désormais 26 points d’avance sur Bagnaia. Le sextuple champion du monde Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), troisième du championnat, a terminé 6e. Seulement 9e sur la grille de départ, l’Espagnol a raté ses qualifications samedi matin en chutant à moins de quatre minutes de la fin de la séance, anéantissant ainsi ses chances de se battre pour la pole position.

Sur les bords de l’Adriatique, le Français Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) a fini 9e et récupère un point au championnat. L’autre Français engagé en MotoGP, Johann Zarco, a franchi la ligne d’arrivée 14e place mais a toutefois gagné une position grâce à une pénalité infligée à l’Espagnol Augusto Fernandez (GasGas-Tech3), initialement 13e.

La grille de départ du Grand Prix étant la même que celle du sprint, « Pecco » Bagnaia partira de nouveau en tête dimanche à 14h00 après avoir signé le meilleur temps des qualifications. Sur le tracé italien qu’il connaît si bien – puisque Ducati y réalise régulièrement des essais – le champion en titre a signé samedi matin sa deuxième pole positon de l’année – la 20e de sa carrière en MotoGP –, récupérant au passage le record du tour du circuit de Misano.

Il s’élancera de nouveau devant deux de ses compatriotes - Franco Morbidelli et Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati-VR46), qui a, lui, chuté lors du sprint. Fabio Quartararo, s’élancera 10e tandis que Johann Zarco, partira encore d’une lointaine 16e place au guidon de sa modeste Honda-LCR.

Race highlights

26 february, arrival day.

You will need to leave the UK on Tuesday 25th February 2025 to land Wednesday 26th February 2025 (start of our 5 night package). If flying from anywhere outside of the UK, please check flights schedules to determine your required departure date.

Arrive into Tokyo by your chosen airline (flights not included) and make your way to your hotel. Check in is not until 4pm at most hotels, therefore if you arrive prior to this time, the hotel concierge will be able to store your bags. If time permits, you may wish to head straight to the marathon expo to collect your race pack.

27 February

Pre-race briefing and expo.

This morning our team will hold a pre-race briefing at the New Otani Hotel. They will run over what to expect over the weekend and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions ahead of race day.

Coach transfers will then take you to and from the expo.

TOKYO MARATHON Expo 2025:  Is the largest Running trade show in Japan with an average of 60,000 visitors annually. In order to register for the TOKYO MARATHON 2025 it is vital that you attend the expo before the race in order to pick up your race number. Race numbers will NOT be available on the day of the race. When picking up your number make sure to bring a valid photo ID and the confirmation of your entry, you cannot arrange for another person to pick up your number for you.

TOKYO MARATHON International Friendship Run

Team Sports Tours will also be hosting their own 5KM shakeout run this morning. The team will be leading a gentle 5KM from your hotel.

If you are not taking part on the TOKYO MARATHON International Friendship Run 2025, you have a free day to sightsee, or head to the marathon expo to collect your race pack if you have not done so already.

The 2025 TOKYO MARATHON

This is the day of the TOKYO MARATHON 2025. An early breakfast will be available at your hotel this morning with the time TBC within your travel itinerary. There will be a coach to transfer you to the start and will drop you off next to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building . If you wish to make your own way at an earlier or later time, please feel free to do so.

Marathon Times: 09.05 – Wheelchair Start 09.10 – Marathon Start 16.10 – Finish

You can hand in a personal bag at the start of the race and pick it up at the end from the Tokyo Hibiya Area at the end of the race. At the end of the marathon, you will be transferred back to your booked hotel by official buses (a coach pass/sticker or wristband will be given to you by our staff at the hotel). The rest of the day you are free to rest and celebrate.

TOKYO MARATHON After Run Party

There is a Tokyo Marathon Celebration After Run Party held this evening at the New Otani Hotel. Join runners and companions to enjoy Japanese food, Sake, live music and entertainment. Runners and spectators are welcome. A special night to remember from your trip to Tokyo. It is in our opinion by far the best post-marathon party of any marathon in the world.

Tokyo has two airports, Narita International Airport and more centrally located Haneda Airport. Narita Airport is located about 60 kilometres outside of Tokyo. Haneda Airport is located 29.8km outside of Tokyo.

It is recommended to take a bus/coach or train into central Tokyo from both airports as taxis can be expensive due to distance and traffic.

There are a variety of trains (Narita) and also Monorail (Haneda) to get into central Tokyo. The journey times and prices vary.

The TOKYO MARATHON begins in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building and from there takes you on a tour past various landmarks and Tokyo Station before finishing at the Imperial Palace. The marathon Start Time is 9.10 am on Sunday 2nd March 2025. Time limit is 7 hours, based on gun time, not chip time.

If airport transfers are included in your package, we will transfer you and your Luggage to the hotel. If you are on a cycling holiday, we will also transfer your bike.

Children are welcome on our trips with the exception of some Hospitality packages.

Any dietary requirements e.g., Vegetarian or Vegan etc needs to be advised to us at booking stage. We will then request the meals with the relevant hotel.

Stays can be extended beyond our standard packages subject to availability at the relevant hotel.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These are the terms and conditions under which Destination Marathons, LLC. (hereinafter “DM”) offers and operates its running trips/tours. By registering and paying your deposit for a trip, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree to these Terms & Conditions, which you acknowledge constitute a legally binding obligation. Accordingly, please read these terms carefully before making a deposit or payment for a trip.

Participants acknowledge they must be in good health and able to endure the physical demands commensurate the activity they are registering for. Please consult your physician if there is any question of physical fitness. It is your responsibility to assess the risks and requirements of each aspect of the trip based on your own circumstances, limitations, fitness level and medical requirements.

If you participate in activities during your itinerary, including road racing and pre and post runs, certain risks and dangers may arise, including, but not limited to, personal injury and death. BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU hereby expressly assume all of these risks and dangers, and you hereby expressly agree to forever release, discharge and hold DM and our agents, employees, officers and directors, harmless against any and all liability, actions, causes of actions, suits, claims and demands of any and every kind and nature whatsoever which you now have or which may hereafter arise out of or in connection with your booking or participation in any activities in which you participate.

You consent and grant full permission and royalty-free license to DM to use your likeness in all media including photographs, pictures, recordings, or other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.

You consent and grant full permission for DM to email you with specific information relating to this trip package. You will also be enrolled in communications regarding other DM packages and releases, and have the option to opt out of those specific messages by contacting DM directly.

While we will endeavor to operate all trips as advertised or quoted, reasonable changes in your itinerary may be made by DM where it is deemed necessary or advisable by us. If DM is prevented (directly or indirectly) from performing any of its obligations under this agreement by reason of force majeure (which shall include, an Act of God, weather conditions, natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, trade disputes, fire, breakdowns, weather conditions, acts of omissions of a third party, or any other cause whatsoever outside DM’s reasonable control), then DM may, in its sole and absolute discretion, cancel all or part of any trip. In any situation of force majeure, DM shall not be deemed to be in breach of their duties or otherwise liable to you, whether for reason of delay in performance or non-performance. I understand that if a case of force majeure arises that no refund of my travel expenses, including, but not limited to non-refundable airfare, or entry fees will be reimbursed. Based on the above, DM strongly recommends trip cancellation, baggage, health and accident insurance for all participants. Residents from outside the U.S. must check within your country for insurance coverage.

The price of the DM package does not include personal travel insurance. DM highly advises you to consider obtaining travel insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate insurance coverage for the entire duration of the trip, including incidents such as illness, injury, death, loss of baggage and personal belongings, trip cancellation or interruption, and any activities you plan to participate in. If you have any inquiries regarding travel insurance and its coverage, please contact a travel insurance company directly. You bear full responsibility for any financial losses related to your travel arrangements. DM is not accountable for any travel expenses or other costs incurred by you or any other individuals associated with your travel.

DM contracts with a network of companies and individuals to assist in the running of our trips, including, but not limited to hotel and transportation services. Because DM does not maintain any control over the personnel, equipment, or operations of these suppliers, we assume no responsibility for and cannot be held liable for any personal injury, death, property damage, or other loss, accident, delay, inconvenience, or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of (1) any wrongful, negligent, willful, or unauthorized acts or omissions on the part of any of the tour suppliers, or other employees or agents, (2) any defect in or failure of any vehicle, equipment, instrument owned, operated or otherwise by any of these suppliers, or (3) any wrongful, willful, or negligent act or omissions on any part of any other party not under the supervision or control of DM. 

Airfare is not included in any DM travel packages. It is your responsibility to book your own transit to the destination city. Transit to the hotel is not included in any DM travel packages, unless otherwise specified in the package description.

DM accepts credit card transactions including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. For some packages, DM will also accept ACH electronic transfer, or money order, made payable to Destination Marathons, LLC. If you select to pay for your package in full, you will receive an invoice with a zero ($0) balance and invoice number reference. Please keep this invoice number for reference as we may require you to confirm your booking details, login to obtain your race bib, or other details relating to your trip. If you select to pay a deposit for your package only, you will receive an invoice with information to make additional payments on your reservation. It is your responsibility to manage your manual payments before payment deadlines, or enroll in auto-payments when available, to ensure you complete payments before a payment deadline. Package payments not completed by the deadline are subject to cancellation.

DM contracts with hotels for a block of rooms including types of rooms (single beds such as king or queen; and double beds, such as two twins or two queens). We make note of your requested room type during your reservation booking. However, room availability is based on hotel inventory at time of check in. DM may need to adjust your room type to accommodate rooms available. If we must change your room type, we will provide a complimentary change, or refund the difference for a reduced room type.

All guests traveling with DM are registered with our hotel room block. If a registered DM guest attempts to accommodate an unregistered individual in their hotel room or extend an invitation for them to partake in any DM organized events, the registered DM guest shall relinquish their tour package privileges, and both parties may be refused entry to subsequent tours.

DM package pricing is offered at current rates, taxes, tariffs, and conditions by our contracts and other service providers. All pricing is subject to currency exchange fluctuations. DM may change package pricing at any time until packages are sold out. All pricing is quoted and transacted in United States dollars.

For guests traveling internationally with DM, it is mandatory to possess a valid passport. Some countries require that the passport remains valid for a minimum of six (6) months beyond the date of return to the United States. Additionally, certain destinations may impose visa requirements that must be fulfilled before traveling. We advise you to consult the website of the U.S. Department of State to stay updated on the most recent passport and visa regulations. It is your responsibility to ensure that all essential travel documents are up-to-date and valid, and to arrange any necessary documentation for entry into your travel destination(s). This includes acquiring any required vaccinations, travel visas, or fulfilling any other prerequisites.

DM reserves the right to decline a guest reservation request for any reason. Should your reservation request be declined, the full registration fee (including the non-refundable initial deposit) will be refunded to you. 

DM, and the service providers it contracts with, reserve the right to refuse service to guests at their sole discretion including, and without limitation, if the guest: (i) lacks proper documentation for the country or destination, (ii) has a contagious disease, (iii) is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or narcotics, and/or (iv) manifests disruptive and/or unruly behavior. DM assumes no liability for the acts of the service providers in refusing service to guests. DM reserves the right to refuse service to guests and/or cease continuation of services to guests for the remainder of the trip without providing any refund.

By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that you will not engage in any attempts to evade, avoid, or bypass any refund restrictions associated with your purchased travel booking. This includes refraining from contacting our company directly in an effort to obtain a refund, or seeking a “chargeback” from your credit card company. Once initial travel is booked, we will refrain from altering payment methods or generating different invoices, as doing so could potentially modify the information required by travel insurance companies.

The right is reserved to cancel the tour for any reason anytime. If we cancel a tour, our liability is limited to a full refund of your payments to us and we will not be liable for any other costs, damages or refunds of any kind for any loss, delay, inconvenience, incidental, consequential, disappointment or expense whatsoever in such circumstances.

If the event is cancelled by race officials, runners can*:

• Request a full refund of the amount paid in writing to [email protected]
• Transfer payments made to a future Destination Marathons race package, including the non-refundable deposit. The new package must be reserved within 12 months and traveled within 24 months of cancellation date.

If the event is postponed by race officials to a later date, runners can*:

• Transfer your reservation (at the same package rate) to the new race date

If the event is turned into a virtual event by race officials, our package will be considered null and void.  Runners can*:

Jordan Bardella a marqué les esprits lors de son entrée à la foire de Châlons-en-Champagne, accueilli par une foule enthousiaste. Comme l'année passée, le président du RN a été acclamé par de nombreux jeunes. Il mise sur cet élan populaire pour entamer une année chargée de défis politiques.

Les Jeux olympiques sont terminés, mais ce samedi 7 septembre, à Châlons-en-Champagne, dans la Marne, l’ambiance survoltée pourrait faire croire que la ville vient tout juste d’accueillir une épreuve olympique. En réalité, c’est un tout autre marathon qui commence. Jordan Bardella fait sa rentrée politique, et pour démarrer sur les chapeaux de roues, quoi de mieux qu’un sprint symbolique : les quelques mètres qui séparent l’entrée de la foire de Châlons-en-Champagne de son premier stand. Une manière de lancer la course pour la nouvelle saison.

Cette fois, aucun risque pour le record du monde d'Usain Bolt : il faudra bien plus de 45 minutes pour couvrir cette courte distance. La raison ? Une nuée de journalistes, venus capter chaque mot du leader politique, mais surtout une multitude de selfies avec les habitants locaux. « Bonjour Sarah, on te souhaite un très joyeux anniversaire depuis la Marne ! » s'exclame, tout sourire, le président du RN, répondant à un jeune homme qui lui tend son téléphone pour une dédicace en vidéo.

Cette rentrée politique était marquée par la forte présence de jeunes, séduits par la personnalité de Jordan Bardella. « Il nous ressemble, il n’est pas issu d’une grande école et il est connecté à la réalité » , explique Garance, 21 ans, étudiante. Melvyne, 22 ans, commercial, abonde dans ce sens : « Sa proximité est sincère, loin des postures de communication d’Emmanuel Macron. » Mais les jeunes ne sont pas les seuls à immortaliser l'instant. Des visages plus mûrs, marqués par la dure réalité de la vie ouvrière, étaient également là. Maryline, 55 ans, enchaînant les petits boulots, voit en lui « l’espoir d’un nouveau destin ».

Dans ce territoire traditionnellement ancré à droite, le RN a connu une progression inédite lors des dernières élections législatives , bien que sans obtenir de siège supplémentaire parmi les 126 qu'il compte à l’Assemblée nationale. Au premier tour, quatre candidats du parti ont largement devancé leurs adversaires, et dans la quatrième circonscription de la Marne, le RN a enregistré une progression de 15 points entre 2022 et 2024. Pour José, 77 ans, habitant d’un village voisin, ce succès s’explique par un besoin de « retrouver une fierté d’être français ». La vie «  du quotidien  » et les discours des politiques traditionnels «  qui ne passent plus  » viennent renforcer ces résultats historiques, explique-t-il.

Cependant, dans cette commune de plus de 40 000 âmes, le parti ne fait pas l’unanimité. Amaury, 40 ans, éducateur spécialisé, exprime ses réticences : « Le national-populisme ne me concerne pas. » Il pointe du doigt le manque de constance de Bardella et les candidatures controversées des législatives de 2024, illustrant selon lui que « le RN n’a pas changé ». Même un cadre du parti concède des « problèmes de filtrage », assurant que des mesures seront prises pour mieux encadrer le processus de sélection des candidats.

À Châlons-en-Champagne, Bardella est encore loin de l’Hôtel de Matignon, bien qu’il ait caressé l’espoir d’y poser ses valises au début de l’été. Néanmoins, il ne perd pas de vue le nouveau Premier ministre. « Je souhaite que Michel Barnier et le futur gouvernement puissent non seulement se mettre au travail, mais aussi être attentifs aux exigences qui sont désormais les nôtres », a déclaré Bardella, évoquant un Premier ministre placé « sous surveillance ».

Loin des caméras, dans les allées de la foire, un proche du président du RN rappelle que mathématiquement, « aucune loi ne pourra passer sans nous, pas plus qu’une motion de censure ». Le parti, ferme sur ses priorités – pouvoir d’achat, immigration et sécurité – met en garde : si ces thèmes sont attaqués, « la censure s’imposera ». Des préoccupations qui résonnaient fortement dans les travées de la foire pour ce premier test de la saison politique 2024-2025.

Le recordman du monde en catégorie T54 a fait la course en tête de bout en bout dimanche matin avant de triompher sur l'Esplanade des Invalides.

Seul Helvète en lice dans ce marathon masculin en fauteuil roulant, le Thurgovien s'est retrouvé seul juste avant la mi-course, lâchant alors le seul homme ayant cherché à suivre son rythme, Jin Hua. Il s'est imposé en 1h27'39, avec une marge de 3'40 sur son dauphin chinois et de 3'44 sur le Japonais Tomoki Suzuki (3e).

La Suisse pour une première

Deux ans après un succès 2-1 à Saragosse, la Suisse défie à nouveau l’Espagne. Ce dimanche à Genève, elle rêve de battre la Roja pour la troisième fois de son histoire, la première sur son sol.

Battue 1-0 par le Danemark jeudi lors de son entame dans cette Ligue des Nations dont... l’Espagne est la tenante du titre, la Suisse est condamnée à l'exploit.

Sans son capitaine Granit Xhaka suspendu et avec des joueurs qui accusent un réel déficit sur le plan du rythme, Murat Yakin n'aborde pas vraiment cette rencontre avec les meilleures cartes dans les mains. Et en face il y a une Espagne qui a été sacrée cet été Championne d'Europe en Allemagne et Championne olympique à Paris, et qui possède avec Lamine Yamal un prodige de 17 ans capable de forcer la décision à tout instant.

Mais avec l'appui du public dans un Stade de Genève à guichets fermés, la Suisse se croit capable de renverser la Roja. Un succès lui permettrait de gommer la défaite de Copenhague. Seulement, les Espagnols, tenus en échec par la Serbie jeudi à Belgrade (0-0), ont perdu l'habitude d'enchaîner deux rencontres sans la moindre victoire...

Fritz, un pas de géant pour décrocher la lune face à Sinner

Le no 1 mondial Jannik Sinner, seul cador à avoir tenu son rang, sera favori de sa première finale de l'US Open dimanche.

Mais Taylor Fritz aura le soutien inconditionnel du bouillonnant Stade Arthur Ashe qui attend depuis 2003 un successeur à Andy Roddick, dernier Américain à avoir inscrit son nom au palmarès d'un Majeur.

"Cela ne fait aucun doute, le public sera plutôt de son côté, mais c'est normal, prédit Sinner. Alors je vais l'accepter, sachant que j'ai derrière moi mon équipe et des gens qui me sont proches. Et je garde à l'esprit qu'il y a beaucoup de monde qui me regarde à la télévision en Italie et qui me soutient", ajoute-t-il.

L'Italien de 23 ans et l'Américain de 26 ans, 12e mondial qui gravite autour de la 10e place depuis plus de deux ans avec une pointe au 5e rang en février 2023, ne se sont affrontés qu'à deux reprises, à Indian Wells.

Ils en sont à une victoire chacun. Mais la dernière fois qu'ils ont croisé le fer remonte à quasiment un an et demi, en 2023. Jannik Sinner s'était alors difficilement imposé en quart de finale.

Mais ça, c'était avant. Car depuis, l'Italien a changé de planète: il a remporté son premier titre du Grand Chelem en janvier à l'Open d'Australie, est devenu no 1 mondial et prétendant au titre de tous les tournois auxquels il participe.

Ce qui n'est pas le cas de Fritz dont le palmarès est aussi sobre que le joueur: huit titres au total depuis 2019, dont deux cette année. Son trophée le plus prestigieux est celui du Masters 1000 d'Indian Wells remporté en 2022.

Cette année à Flushing Meadows, Sinner n'a pas eu à affronter, dans une demie qui s'annonçait épique, son principal adversaire générationnel du circuit Carlos Alcaraz, qui a perdu dès le 2e tour. Mais il s'est défait avec assurance en quart d'un autre prétendant, le Russe Daniil Medvedev, vainqueur du tournoi en 2021.

Et l'Italien, sans jouer son meilleur tennis, a fait preuve d'une grande maîtrise en demie face à Jack Draper qu'il a écarté en trois sets. Le seul moment tendu du match est intervenu dans le deuxième set lorsque Sinner est tombé sur son poignet gauche.

"Après l'intervention du physio, qui m'a immédiatement fait du bien, la douleur est partie en jouant. On verra comment ce sera demain (samedi) à froid, mais je suis relativement confiant parce que si ça avait été grave, je l'aurais senti sur le coup", a raconté le droitier qui pourrait être handicapé pour son revers à deux mains.

Fritz n'a pas encore soulevé de trophée du Grand Chelem, mais il a joué au total 14 finales sur le circuit ATP. Comme pour commencer son travail de sape psychologique, Sinner prévient: "en Grand Chelem, les finales sont un peu différentes. On ressent énormément de tension".

Lui, il est à 100% de réussite en finale de Grand Chelem: une jouée et gagnée. Et il souhaite terminer la saison des Majeurs comme il l'a commencée, avec un titre, synonyme de partage des titres du Grand Chelem avec Alcaraz, vainqueur à Roland-Garros et Wimbledon.

La nervosité, Fritz l'a déjà longuement combattue en demie pour battre son compatriote Frances Tiafoe en cinq sets. "Nous étions tous les deux nerveux en arrivant sur le court, mais il s'est détendu plus vite que moi. J'ai eu du mal à avaler la perte du premier set parce que je menais avec un break d'avance et je le lui ai donné à cause de fautes liées à ma nervosité", souligne-t-il.

Fritz a fini par reprendre le contrôle de ses nerfs avant d'écraser quelques larmes sous l'ovation du public. "Quand je suis très heureux, je pleure. C'est comme ça", explique l'Américain.

"Le public m'acclamait, j'ai réalisé que je venais de me qualifier pour la finale de l'US Open... C'est le rêve d'une vie qui se réalise. J'ai travaillé toute ma vie pour arriver là", développe-t-il, persuadé que "le niveau affiché" lui permettra de remporter le titre.

Il n'est plus qu'à une marche. Une marche de géant pour lui et pour toute l'Amérique.

Un 3e titre majeur pour Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka (no 2) a décroché samedi son troisième titre du Grand Chelem, le premier à New York.

La Bélarusse a dominé l'Américaine Jessica Pegula (no 6) 7-5 7-5 en 1h53' en finale de l'US Open.

Double tenante du titre à l'Open d'Australie, Aryna Sabalenka ajoute donc un troisième trophée majeur sur dur à son palmarès. Ceci un an après avoir subi la loi d'une autre Américaine, Coco Gauff, pour sa première finale à Flushing Meadows (2-6 6-2 6-3).

La Bélarusse de 26 ans a d'ailleurs bel et bien retenu les leçons de la finale 2023, dans laquelle elle n'avait su maîtriser ni ses nerfs ni ses émotions après que le public du Stade Arthur Ashe avait mis le feu pour pousser Coco Gauff. La première manche aurait pourtant pu tourner au cauchemar pour elle, la deuxième plus encore.

Aryna Sabelenka menait en effet tranquillement 5-2 dans le premier set, avant de perdre le fil de son tennis. A 5-5, elle a même dû écarter une balle de break qui aurait pu tout changer. Mais elle a tenu son service, avant de s'adjuger la première manche sur sa cinquième balle de set grâce à un revers slicé parfaitement touché.

La joueuse de Minsk a également su garder son calme dans une seconde manche au scenario encore plus déroutant. Elle s'est ainsi retrouvée menée 3-5, après avoir manqué une balle de 4-0 qui avait le poids d'une balle de match. Mais elle a su élever son niveau de jeu dans le "money time" pour effacer le traumatisme vécu un an plus tôt.

Aryna Sabalenka est ainsi la première joueuse à gagner les deux Majeurs disputés sur dur durant une même saison depuis la jeune retraitée Angelique Kerber en 2016. Avec trois sacres au total, elle grimpe par ailleurs au 4e rang parmi les joueuses en activité comptant le plus de titres du Grand Chelem, derrière Venus Williams (7), le no 1 mondial Iga Swiatek (5) et Naomi Osaka (4).

L'Allemagne surclasse la Hongrie 5-0

L'Allemagne a entamé sa Ligue des nations en dominant la Hongrie 5-0 samedi à Düsseldorf. La "Mannschaft" jouera aux Pays-Bas mercredi lors de la 2e journée.

Niclas Füllkrug a inscrit le premier but, de près, à la conclusion d'une superbe action collective (27e), puis Jamal Musiala, au terme d'une rapide contre-attaque (58e) a aggravé le score. Florian Wirtz (66e) a corsé l'addition, alourdie par Aleksandar Pavlovic (77e) puis Kai Havertz sur penalty (81e).

Les Pays-Bas ont également entamé de manière idéale cette Ligue des nations 2024/25. Les Oranje ont dominé la Bosnie-Herzégovine 5-2 samedi soir.

L'équipe Red Bull de Roglic touchée par une "vague de maladies"

L'équipe Red Bull du leader de la Vuelta, Primoz Roglic, a été touchée par une "vague de maladies".

Celle-ci a contraint plusieurs coureurs et membres de l'encadrement à se retirer à la veille de la dernière étape, a indiqué l'équipe samedi soir sur son site internet.

La formation Red Bull a perdu trois coureurs samedi. Mais Roglic a conservé la tête du classement général et dit se sentir "plutôt bien" avant d'aborder le contre-la-montre final de 24 km dimanche dans les rues de Madrid. Il possède un peu plus de deux minutes d'avance sur son dauphin, l'Australien Ben O'Connor.

"Nous avons été submergés la nuit dernière par des maladies en série", a confirmé le directeur sportif de l'équipe, Patxi Vila, dans un communiqué. "Nous enquêtons actuellement pour savoir si une intoxication alimentaire en est la cause. Plusieurs membres du staff sont affectés et ont dû se retirer de la course aujourd'hui (samedi)", a-t-il ajouté.

Le Colombien Daniel Felipe Martinez et l'Autrichien Patrick Gamper ont abandonné, l'Allemand Nico Denz a terminé hors délai tandis que le Russe Aleksandr Vlasov est arrivé avec plus d'une demi-heure de retard. "L'équipe n'était pas au mieux de sa forme", a reconnu Roglic après l'étape au micro des organisateurs.

Alex Formenton met fin à sa carrière

Alex Formenton met un terme à sa carrière à l'âge de 24 ans, selon différents médias nord-américains.

L'attaquant canadien, qui était encore sous contrat avec Ambri-Piotta en début d'année, est l'un des cinq anciens joueurs de l'équipe M20 du Canada accusés d'agression sexuelle.

Alex Formenton et quatre autres joueurs de l'équipe à la feuille d'érable sacrée au Mondial M20 de 2018 ont été inculpés pour avoir eu des relations sexuelles non consenties avec une femme après leur titre mondial. Formenton s'est rendu à la police en janvier, mais a toujours clamé son innocence.

Le désormais ex-attaquant travaille actuellement à plein temps dans le secteur de la construction. Il a choisi cette voie pour s'assurer un revenu régulier afin de pouvoir subvenir à ses besoins et payer les frais de justice, selon des documents judiciaires obtenus par la chaîne de télévision canadienne CBC.

En mai 2022, Hockey Canada avait été secoué par des révélations dans la presse l'accusant d'avoir voulu cacher cette affaire de viol collectif. Ses dirigeants avaient tenté d'étouffer l'affaire en concluant un accord confidentiel de plusieurs millions de dollars avec la victime.

Quelques mois plus tard, la police canadienne avait rouvert son enquête. Puis à l'automne, le président de la fédération avait dû démissionner et le financement public de l'institution sportive avait été suspendu dix mois par le gouvernement canadien.

L'Angleterre gagne en Irlande pour la première de Carsley

Le sélectionneur intérimaire Lee Carsley a fêté des débuts victorieux à la tête de l'Angleterre.

Les Three Lions ont battu l'Irlande 2-0 samedi à Dublin en Ligue des nations pour la première du successeur de Gareth Southgate, qui avait quitté son poste après la finale de l'Euro 2024 perdue contre l'Espagne.

Les vice-champions d'Europe, retombés en Ligue B (deuxième division) il y a deux ans, ont lancé victorieusement leur campagne 2024/25 grâce à des réussites signées Declan Rice (11e, 1-0) et Jack Grealish (26e, 2-0). Ironie de l'histoire, les deux buteurs avaient porté le maillot irlandais chez les juniors...

Le leader Matt Wallace résiste, Gugler désormais 5e

Matt Wallace reste solidement installé en tête de l'European Masters de Crans-Montana à l'issue du 3e tour.

L'Anglais a pourtant souffert samedi, rendant une carte de 73 (+3). Meilleur Helvète, Cedric Gugler occupe un superbe 5e rang.

Rares sont les joueurs à avoir terminé ce 3e tour en dessous du par, le vent ayant joué les trouble-fête sur le Haut-Plateau samedi. Matt Wallace, coupable de six bogeys, possède ainsi toujours quatre coups d'avance sur son plus proche poursuivant avant l'ultime journée de compétition.

L'Anglais a conclu en beauté sa journée avec un birdie sur le no 18. Avec une carte totale de -11, il devance de quatre coups l'Espagnol Alfredo Garcia-Heredia (+1 samedi), seul au 2e rang, alors que le Suédois Henrik Norlander (+3 samedi) et l'Anglais Andrew Johnston (+2 samedi) sont ex-aequo au 3e rang à cinq coups.

Dans le coup depuis son premier coup jeudi, Cedric Gugler est donc parvenu à se maintenir dans le top 10 samedi. Mieux encore: le Bâlois de 24 ans, 7e à l'issue de la première journée et 10e après deux tours, a gagné cinq places au classement dans des conditions pourtant difficiles.

Gugler (+1 samedi) a souffert dans le final, commettant un bogey sur le trou no 16 puis sur le 18. A égalité notamment avec l'Italien Edoardo Molinari, qui a rendu une carte de -1 au terme de ce 3e tour, il peut néanmoins toujours espérer finir parmi les trois premiers de ce tournoi.

Dunbar s'impose au Picon Blanco, Roglic assure

L'Irlandais Eddie Dunbar a remporté samedi la 20e et avant-dernière étape du Tour d'Espagne au sommet du Picon Blanco.

Le Slovène Primoz Roglic, 3e, a consolidé sa place de leader à la veille de l'arrivée à Madrid.

Au terme de 172 km d'une course exigeante avec pas moins de sept ascensions - et 5000 mètres de dénivelé positif - Dunbar (Jayco) s'est imposé pour sept secondes devant l'Espagnol Enric Mas. L'Irlandais avait attaqué à 2 km du but.

Dimanche, la dernière étape prendra la forme d'un contre-la-montre de 24 kilomètres dans les rues de Madrid. Sauf incident, Roglic, qui possède désormais deux minutes d'avance sur son dauphin Ben O'Connor, devrait remporter la Vuelta pour la quatrième fois.

Murat Yakin: "Le défi est magnifique"

"L'équipe a très vite basculé sur le match contre l'Espagne !" Murat Yakin l'assure: la funeste soirée de jeudi à Copenhague ne pèsera pas dans les têtes de ses joueurs à l'heure de défier la Roja.

"Nous jouerons contre le Champion d'Europe en titre dans un stade plein qui sera derrière nous. Le défi est magnifique, souligne un Murat Yakin dont le bonheur de disputer un tel match est vraiment perceptible. Nous ne devrons pas reculer. Jouer avec une très grande intensité. Faire les courses qu'il faudra faire. Gagner les duels qu'il faudra gagner. Nous ne sommes pas favoris devant une telle équipe, c'est vrai, mais nous ferons tout pour lui faire mal."

Le sélectionneur - et aussi Granit Xhaka qui est resté avec l'équipe après son carton rouge de Copenhague - trouveront certainement les mots justes pour insuffler cette détermination extrême qui a sans doute manqué à Copenhague. "Granit a tout de suite indiqué sa volonté de venir à Genève. Il s'est aussi excusé devant l'équipe pour son expulsion, précise Murat Yakin. Tout cela démontre une certaine grandeur de sa part."

Le capitaine, qui cédera dimanche son brassard à Manuel Akanji, sera remplacé par Denis Zakaria. Devant son public, le Genevois retrouvera la lumière après avoir dû soigner pendant pratiquement tout l'Euro une déchirure musculaire et après avoir entamé le match de jeudi sur le banc.

"Je ne veux pas parler d'un nouveau départ. Cela fait quand même un bon moment que je joue en équipe nationale", sourit le Genevois, dont la première sélection remonte au 28 mai 2016 lors de la rencontre amicale perdue 1-0 contre la Belgique à... Genève.

"Ce n'était pas facile d'accepter mon sort durant l'Euro avec cette blessure. J'ai travaillé énormément pour être en mesure de jouer la fin de la prolongation contre l'Angleterre, raconte Denis Zakaria. Maintenant, je suis Denis Zakaria et non Granit Xhaka. Je veux aider l'équipe. Nous avons la chance de nous appuyer sur un cadre élargi. A ceux qui ne jouent pas beaucoup de prendre leurs responsabilités."

Murat Yakin a, par ailleurs, officialisé la titularisation de Gregory Wüthrich en défense centrale pour remplacer Nico Elvedi, le premier expulsé de Copenhague. "Gregory a fait une bonne entrée jeudi. Il est en pleine confiance", précise le sélectionneur.

Par ailleurs, Gregor Kobel sera à nouveau titularisé dans la cage. "Il a besoin de jouer un tel match", précise Murat Yakin au sujet de son nouveau no 1. Pour le sélectionneur, l'exigence de résultats que commande cette Ligue des nations n'autorise pas vraiment à multiplier les essais. "Et c'est l'Espagne en face tout de même", glisse-t-il.

Martin remporte le sprint à Misano, devant Bagnaia

Le leader du championnat du monde de MotoGP Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) a remporté la course sprint du GP de Saint-Marin. Il a devancé le champion du monde en titre Francesco Bagnaia, 2e.

Sur le circuit italien de Misano et sous une chaleur écrasante, "Martinator" a signé un départ en boulet de canon depuis la 4e place, prenant la tête dès le premier virage. Un temps sous la menace de Bagnaia, parti en pole, l'Espagnol s'est finalement imposé avec 1''495 d'avance sur son dauphin au championnat.

Au classement général, Jorge Martin conforte sa position de leader et compte désormais 26 points d'avance sur Francesco Bagnaia. Le sextuple champion du monde Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), 3e du championnat, a terminé 6e après être parti 9e sur la grille.

Vollering s'impose à Vercorin, Kopecky en jaune

Demi Vollering a remporté la deuxième et avant-dernière étape du Tour de Romandie devant sa coéquipière Lotte Kopecky. Cette dernière endosse le maillot jaune de leader du général.

Inséparables Demi Vollering et Lotte Kopecky! Les deux coéquipières au sein de l'équipe SD Worx ne se sont fait aucun cadeau entre Chippis et Vercorin. La Néerlandaise et la Belge se sont disputé la victoire au terme d'un sprint extrêmement serré.

En partance à la fin de la saison, Demi Vollering ne s'est pas vue offrir le maillot jaune sur un plateau par sa coéquipière, désormais favorite à la victoire finale avant la dernière étape à Morges. Elle a dû batailler face à Kopecky pour l'emporter à la photo-finish.

Battue d'un rien, la championne du monde belge a bluffé son monde, tant on ne l'attendait pas à un tel niveau dans l'ascension vers la station du val d'Anniviers. Elle endosse le maillot jaune avec 2 secondes d'avance sur celle qui, sur le papier, aurait dû être sa leader pour jouer le général.

Comme attendu, cette deuxième étape - qui se courait sans oreillettes - s'est résumée à une course de côte. Après un long écrémage, l'Italienne Gaia Realini s'est retrouvée seule face à trois coureuses de SD-Worx à 2,5 kilomètres de l'arrivée: Vollering et Kopecky, mais aussi la Néo-Zélandaise Niamh Fisher-Black. Après plusieurs tentatives infructueuses de Realini, les deux meilleures se sont détachées à la flamme rouge pour se jouer la victoire.

Maillot jaune après la première étape, Elisa Balsamo a lâché prise dès les premiers contreforts. Quant aux Suissesses, elles n'ont pas été en mesure de peser sur la course dans la dernière ascension face aux meilleures coureuses du peloton. La meilleure d'entre elles, Noemi Rüegg, a pris la 20e place. Elle occupe le 19e rang du général, à 3'01 de Kopecky

Une 5e défaite pour Alinghi, dominé par Britannia

Alinghi Red Bull Racing n'est pas parvenu à enchaîner un troisième succès consécutif dans la Coupe Louis Vuitton.

Le défi suisse a subi la loi de Britannia samedi lors de l'avant-dernière journée du double Round Robin.

Vainqueur des Français d'Orient Express Racing Team et de NYYC American Magic lors de ses deux précédentes régates, Alinghi aurait probablement assuré sa place parmi les demi-finalistes en cas de victoire. Mais le suspense reste entier dans son duel à distance avec Orient Express.

Alinghi a été nettement dominé par Britannia et son légendaire barreur Ben Ainslie, qui ont su gêner leur adversaire avant même le départ pour prendre très vite l'avantage. Moins rapide que son adversaire par vent arrière, le défi helvétique a finalement été devancé de 53 secondes sur la ligne au large de Barcelone.

Dans le classement des Challengers, Alinghi (4e) conserve 1 point de plus qu'Orient Express (5e). Le bateau helvétique se frottera dimanche aux Italiens de Luna Rossa, qui dominent ce Round Robin, après que l'embarcation française aura disputé son ultime match face à Britannia.

Nouvelle médaille d'argent pour Celine Van Till

La Genevoise Celine Van Till a pris la deuxième place de la course sur route en tricycle. Dans la catégorie T1-2, elle a été battue au sprint par la Danoise Emma Lund. La Néerlandaise Marieke van Soest a décroché la médaille de bronze. Celine Van Till avait déjà décroché l'argent mercredi en contre-la-montre.

Après une journée sans titre la veille, les Français ont retrouvé le chemin de la médaille d'or, samedi 7 septembre, malgré quelques déceptions. D'abord à Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), dans le temple du paracyclisme, où l es Français Mathieu Bosredon, Florian Jouanny et Joseph Fritsch ont remporté la médaille d'or dans l'épreuve de relais mixte par équipes .  Un peu plus tard, ce sont les Bleus du cécifoot qui ont créé l'exploit dans une ambiance survoltée. 

Le grand soir des Bleus au cécifoot. Au pied de la tour Eiffel, l'équipe de France emmenée par le maestro Frédéric Villeroux a battu l'Argentine aux tirs au but en finale. Les Français, médaillés d'argent à Londres en 2012, ont réalisé l'exploit face aux tombeurs de l'ogre brésilien et champions du monde en titre, devant un public survolté et dans un décor féerique. Ils apportent la 74e médaille à la délégation tricolore, la 19e en or.

Trois nouvelles médailles, dont un titre, pour le cyclisme.  Le clan tricolore peut remercier ses paracyclistes (piste et route) qui ont rapporté 10 des 19 médailles d'or françaises et un total de 28 podiums. Le relais mixte, en or, Thomas Peyroton-Dartet, en argent, et Alexandre Léauté, en bronze, ont brillé samedi pour finaliser ce bilan magnifique.

Des podiums mais pas de Marseillaise au judo. Numéro 1 mondial, Helios Latchoumanaya a dû se contenter de l'argent chez les -90 kg ( catégorie J2, athlètes malvoyants ) avec une déception palpable pour le double champion du monde en titre. Cyril Jonard, lui, n'a obtenu que le bronze, mais l'a célébré comme de l'or et complète sa collection après le titre à Athènes en 2004 et l'argent à Pékin en 2008. Enfin, Jason Grandry a lui aussi décroché le bronze pour sa première participation aux Jeux paralympiques.

Running has always been a revered sport in Japan. Naoko Takahashi was the first woman to break the 2:20 barrier when she ran 2:19:46 in the 2001 Berlin Marathon. The country was known mostly for the Fukuoka Marathon and Osaka Ladies Marathon, which were created for elite athletes only. The TOKYO MARATHON has embraced all runners in an attempt to become one of the world’s most popular international events. In 2012, it was selected as the sixth Abbott World Marathon Majors, and since then we’ve been their international tour operator!

Arrive in Tokyo and transfer (at your own expense) to your hotel by the Airport Limousine Bus.  This evening we will have your Marathon Tours & Travel guides on hand at a welcome desk to answer your questions and distribute any necessary documents.

Thursday, February 27

Today we will have a bus transfer to the Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2025 to provide you with first choice of official race gear before items sellout and Packet Pick-up, including bibs. Also, if you are one of our many Abbott WMM Six Star Finisher hopefuls in Tokyo you will have time to check-in at the AbbottWMM desk to get final instructions for Race Day. The afternoon is free to enjoy on your own. This evening, we will host a welcome cocktail reception at the Hilton Tokyo. (Breakfast and welcome reception included)

Friday, February 28

Enjoy the camaraderie of old as well as new friends on a day tour of Tokyo’s top sites, including lunch and many locations on the marathon course. The evening is free to enjoy on your own. (Breakfast and lunch included)

Saturday, March 1

Today is free to explore Tokyo on your own. Some activities we recommend include: the Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run 2025, a sushi cooking class, bullet train day tours and/or a visit the Tokyo Tower to shop at Roppongi Hills. We are happy to provide suggestions. This evening we will gather for the pre-race pasta dinner and race briefing at the Hilton Tokyo. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Sunday, March 2

Race Day! The race starts at 9:10 AM at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, a short walking distance from your hotel. Enjoy some time to rest before we gather for a post-race celebration! (Breakfast and post-race celebration included)

Monday, March 3

Today concludes the TOKYO MARATHON 2025 package. Airport transfers are on your own. If you are extending your tour with additional days in Tokyo or with one of our two group extension options, enjoy one more night in Tokyo to relax and celebrate. (Breakfast included)

Post-Race Extension to Kyoto : Four Nights | March 3 – 7, 2025

Please note this tour ends in Kyoto, Japan. We do not transfer back to Tokyo after we conclude the Kyoto extension option. You can book your airfare into Tokyo and out of one of the Osaka Airports – Itami Osaka International Airport (ITM) (approx. 45 minutes from Kyoto) or Kansai International Airport (KIX) (approx. 90 minutes from Kyoto). If you choose to fly home from Tokyo Narita (NRT) or Tokyo Haneda (HND), do not book an early flight from Tokyo.  You will need to book an evening flight from Tokyo and consider the travel time back from Kyoto. You could fly from Itami Osaka International Airport (ITM) or Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND), or you could take the bullet train from Kyoto Station to Tokyo Station. From Tokyo Station, you will then need to transfer to the airport.

Post-Race Extension to Kyoto / 4 Nights / March 3 - 7, 2025

After breakfast, depart for the full-day Snow Monkey Tour in Nagano. The Snow Monkey Tour includes a round-trip on the Bullet Train from the Tokyo Station to Nagano, the Zenkoji Temple, lunch, and a transfer to Jigokuani Yaen-koen Snow Monkey Park by coach bus. (Breakfast and lunch included)

Tuesday, March 4

After breakfast, check-out of your Tokyo Hotel and transfer to the Tokyo Station (an English speaking guide will accompany you) for the Bullet Train to Kyoto Station.  Upon arrival you will be transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. Visits included: Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji) and Ryoanji Temple.  You will arrive at the Kyoto Century Hotel around 5:00 PM.   (Breakfast and lunch included)

Wednesday, March 5

Today will be sightseeing by a private coach bus and an English Speaking Guide. Visits include: Kiyomizudera Temple, Ninen-zaka, Sanen-zaka and the Nijo Castle.  Plan to return to the hotel around 5:00 PM.  (Breakfast and lunch included)

Thursday, March 6

Today is another day of sightseeing by a private coach bus and an English Speaking Guide.  Visits include: Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum and Japanese Sake Tasting, Fushimi-Inari-Taisha Todaiji Temple, Nara Park, and the Kasuga Shrine.  Plan to return to the hotel around 5:00 PM.  (Breakfast and lunch included)

Friday, March 7

Your departure day from Kyoto. Airport transfers will be on your own. An additional night in Kyoto is available upon request. (Breakfast included)

Tokyo Only Package :

You may book your flights into either of the main airports – Narita International Airport (NRT) (approx. 90 -120 minutes from Tokyo by shuttle) or into Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) (approx. 60-90 minutes from Tokyo by shuttle). Both airports will have the Airport Limousine Bus shuttle option for your transfer to the hotel. Transfers to and from the airport are at your own expense. The shuttle is the most convenient as it is door to door, but you may also take a train to Tokyo Station and then the subway or taxi from there.

Tokyo Package with the Kyoto Extension:

We do not transfer you back to Tokyo after we conclude the Kyoto extension option. You can book your airfare into Tokyo and out of one of the Osaka Airports – Itami Osaka International Airport (ITM) (approx. 45 minutes from Kyoto) or Kansai International Airport (KIX) (approx. 90 minutes from Kyoto). Tokyo Hyatt Regency is directly connected to Tochomae Subway Station and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. It is a pleasant 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Train Station. The hotel operates limousine buses which run directly between the hotel and the Narita and Haneda international airports. Guests can relax with a massage or beauty treatment at Joule Spa and Wellness. A fitness center is available for workouts. A 24-hour convenience store is located on the ground floor. Various menu Italian menu options are available at the cafè.

The Kyoto Century Hotel is located in a convenient place for both sightseeing and business at only a two-minute walk from JR and subway Kyoto Station. Race Date: March 2, 2025

Race Time : 9:10 AM

Minimum Pace / Cut-Off Time Policy: 7 hours; (i) The time limits are based on the gun time (not on the net time). (ii) The cut-off time will be enforced at each checkpoint due to limited duration of traffic control, security operation and event operation. The runners, who fail to pass through the checkpoint before the cut-off time will be disqualified from the race. Furthermore, runners who lag excessively behind the cut-off time pace may be asked to leave the course at any time.

Course:  The course starts at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. It drops about 100 feet in elevation during the beginning 5K. The course provides a tour of downtown Tokyo with the finish near Tokyo Station.

Entry Fee : The entry fee is  not included in your package price and is an additional cost. Marathon Tours & Travel will coordinate all race entries with the TOKYO MARATHON.

Eligibility:  Marathon Tours & Travel, an authorized tour operator, is required to offer travel arrangements in conjunction with guaranteed race entry. All runners must be residents of the USA, Canada, and/or a Seven Continents Club® (SCC) member; and must be 19 years or older on race day to be eligible for our guaranteed entries. The race is limited to 25,000 runners. For additional details, please visit the official TOKYO MARATHON website .

Time Limit: The course is open for seven hours. The time limit is based on the GUN TIME, not net time . A cut-off time is strictly enforced at each checkpoint due to limited duration of traffic control, security operation and even operation.  The runners who fail to pass through the checkpoint before the cut-off time will be pulled from the race and disqualified.

Number Pickup:  You must pick up your race bib and packet at the TOKYO MARATHON EXPO prior to race day. Marathon Tours & Travel has scheduled roundtrip transportation to the TOKYO MARATHON EXPO on Thursday, February 27.

Temperature : Average temperatures on race day are between 35 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Difficulty : Moderate

Reservations and Payments : A completed tour application together with a deposit of $1000 per person must be received before confirming your reservations. Final payment must be received before November 1, 2024. Final payments received after November 1, 2024 will be charged a $50 late payment fee.

Eligibility:  Marathon Tours & Travel, an authorized tour operator, is required to offer travel arrangements in conjunction with guaranteed race entry. All runners must be residents of the USA, Canada, and/or a Seven Continents Club® (SCC) member; and must be 19 years or older on race day to be eligible for our guaranteed entries.

Cancellations : All payments, including your deposit, are non-refundable and non-transferrable.  Non-transferrable includes applying your balance to another person, another year or another trip. Should you cancel for any reason, you will forfeit your trip investment. Therefore, travel insurance for every trip is highly recommended. All cancellations must be received in writing.

Not included in price : All items not specifically listed under tour features. Entry fee and airport transfers are in addition to the package pricing. Land Prices may change due to currency fluctuations.

Insurance:  For your protection, trip cancellation, baggage, health and accident insurance is highly recommended for all participants. However, no representation or description of the insurance made by our staff constitutes a binding assurance or promise about the insurance.

Security Policy : Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.

Responsibility : These tours are operated by Marathon Tours, Inc. of Chelsea, MA who acts only as an agent for the passenger to the companies offering such services and assumes no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity caused by any reason whatsoever by any party offering such services. All terms and conditions offered are governed by the laws of Massachusetts. The right is reserved to cancel the tour prior to departure with a refund, less applicable credit card and processing fees, made as full settlement to the passenger. The right is reserved by Marathon Tours, Inc. to deny acceptance of a booking application by any person. Marathon Tours, Inc. may make any changes or alterations in the itinerary as it deems necessary for the proper handling of the tour. The sole responsibility of any airline used is limited to that set out in the passenger contract evidenced by the ticket. I so loved the Tokyo trip and marathon.  The Marathon Tours & Travel team thought of every detail before and after the race to make it a pleasant experience for all of us.  It was a wonderful day on the Tokyo city tour and you organized things very well.  The dinners and gatherings were fun to meet and talk with others.  It was so nice to visit with the entire MTT group–you all are professional and kind!

I think this trip delivered on countless levels. Please know all of your hard work didn’t go unnoticed; it was appreciated by all of us! The trip and all of its elements were delivered with precision and ease. Everything was laid out and communicated flawlessly. We know there was an army of us yet it all progressed seamlessly. Each day organically built upon one another without it feeling like a checklist. There’s A LOT to see in Tokyo and Kyoto and you managed to capture great elements in both cities. Maybe it’s the Japanese quality of life that made this trip especially fulfilling and memorable–a week-plus later, this trip has stayed with me and likely everyone else. Safe to say we’re all smitten with this amazing city and trip. BIG, BIG, BIG thanks again for another outstanding experience!!

As the non-runner of our group, I found the experience so amazing and memorable. Was a little nervous traveling somewhere that English is not the primary language. MT had everything covered so it was not an issue. Fellow travelers, staff made this a wonderful experience. Extension to Kyoto gave me a better feel of Japan than being in the big city (Tokyo). Well worth the extra time and money. And who doesn’t like a trip with Jacqui on it??!!

MT staff are helpful and made it such an easy trip. I appreciate the organization and that everything was taken care of. I think what I enjoyed the most was meeting other runners and making new friends that I hope to connect with on future trips and future races. The hotels were great with excellent locations too.

The volunteers on the race course were amazing. MTT staff were great too. I appreciated being with a group to take care of me, as I traveled by myself.

The extension to Kyoto was fabulous. The transfer to the train station and to Kyoto was very smoothly executed and I always felt like we were in good hands. Our guide – Harumi – was phenomenal – a true gem. She was so informational and really, really funny – she truly made the trip. I loved the itinerary and the various temples we saw.

I thought that Nicole and Jeff and the the entire Tokyo Marathon group did an excellent job in sending out an email and asking athletes for their questions on the trip and addressing it in the Conference call, and further following it up with an email so that everyone that missed the opportunity to participate that day and time still had the ability to benefit from it. I received my Six Star, so hard to beat the feeling of accomplishment. The comradery of the group, being so well taken care of/supported by the Marathon Tours staff and the Japanese people themselves… Are all tied for next best.

I love meeting fellow runners from the Marathon Tours group, great camaraderie, great stories, great fun! Insights on the course, start area, recognition of Seven Continents Club and AbbottWMM Six Star finishers, you truly feel like a community when you travel with Marathon Tours!

Every Marathon Tours trip is unique in its own way. The Park Hyatt was incredible as was having the chance to experience Tokyo in general. The post race gathering at the Park Hyatt was also outstanding. It was a wonderful experience.

Loved the tour activities: shrine & temples, tea ceremony, drumming ceremony, etc.

Meals were varied, interesting and so good!! Loved the bullet train. Thanks Nicole for getting us all there and on time! A stressful day, but well done. The shuttle to the airport at the conclusion of the tour was awesome, and so appreciated. Nicole told us to trust her… It will all work well, and it really did.

Communication with the Marathon Tours and Travel staff was excellent. Nicole was very responsive, and incredibly helpful. Her emails with trip details were thorough and easy to understand. I was nervous about traveling to a country that I didn’t speak the language, but felt much better with all of the detailed information that was provided.

One of the things I appreciate most is that Marathon Tours plans everything, all I have to do is show up. I love the people on this tour – staff and other travelers! How do you manage to put together such a nice group of people to travel with? I love how knowledgeable the staff is about the race and the destination.

Marathon de Paris 2023 : combien gagnent les meilleurs coureurs ?

Tous les  sportifs de haut niveau  repartent avec une   jolie prime   après une victoire dans leurs sports ! Comme au Tour de France ou à Roland-Garros , les meilleurs coureurs du Marathon de Pari s  vont repartir avec quelques deniers en poche, après leur arrivée sur l'avenue Foch. En fonction de leur classement, les athlètes professionnels seront récompensés à la hauteur de leur performance, toujours très impressionnante. Ils sont peu nombreux à y prétendre, au vu du nombre de courageux coureurs qui tentent l'épreuve, mais quinze d'entre eux ont le droit à un prix.

Le Marathon de Paris , qui a lieu ce dimanche 2 avril 2023 , est doté d'une enveloppe de 500 000 euros au total. Le vainqueur remporte 50 000 euros , et le marathonien arrivé 15e empoche quant à lui 500 euros . Le reste de la somme est divisée entre les coureurs, en fonction de leur classement. Si la somme maximale paraît importante, c'est normal, car les gagnants sont généralement des athlètes de haut niveau, dont c'est le métier . Les dotations des courses leur permettent donc de vivre de leur sport toute l'année. Concernant les femmes, seules 10 d'entre elles sont récompensées. 

Il faut donc penser à accélérer pour réaliser l'exploit de terminer dans les quinze premiers ! Par ailleurs, il est très rare qu'un coureur remporte plus de deux fois la course dans sa carrière, au vu de sa difficulté, le meilleur prix ne va donc presque jamais plusieurs fois à la même personne.

Marathon de Paris 2025 : ouverture des inscriptions de la célèbre course dans la capitale La 48ème édition du Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris se tiendra le dimanche 13 avril 2025.
