Boeing Company to employ 400 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University research park

cruises in daytona beach florida

The Boeing Company and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announced Tuesday a partnership that will bring a research arm of the multinational aerospace manufacturing giant to Daytona Beach as soon as this fall.

By the end of 2026, Boeing officials say they intend to bring 400 high-paying jobs to the soon-to-open Cici and Hyatt Brown Center for Aerospace Technology at ERAU's booming research park along Clyde Morris Boulevard, just south of the university campus. The building's construction was set in motion by a $25 million gift from the Browns and a $25 million match in last year's state budget.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University officials hailed the Boeing news as a watershed moment for Daytona Beach and Volusia County.

Mori Hosseini, chairman of the Embry-Riddle Board of Trustees, said the announcement is the culmination of something the university has been working toward for many years: Diversifying the Volusia County workforce and complementing the space and defense businesses that help shape Cape Canaveral and Orlando.

"Embry-Riddle is at the tip of Florida’s Space Triangle, and Boeing selecting ERAU and Volusia County will redefine our university and our community," Hosseini said. "With 400 new, high-paying jobs right here in our backyard, the future has never been brighter in Central Florida and Volusia County."

Hosseini said Boeing's presence in Daytona Beach will drive economic development, attracting other companies, and serves as "a major milestone" for the research park, which first opened in 2017.

Who will Boeing be hiring in Daytona Beach?

Boeing Air Dominance Vice President and General Manager Steve Nordlund said the venture will primarily involve engineers working to improve and develop products under the Defense, Space & Security division. They may also include supply-chain managers, human-resources personnel and business analysts.

"Typically when we open up a facility, we're going to concentrate on, you know, what we need to deliver to our customers and that's usually around, you know, development of our products and support of our products going forward," Nordlund said.

The decision to expand into Daytona Beach was not triggered by anything, he said.

"We’re not divesting out of anywhere else. This is a growth opportunity for us," Nordlund said.

"We are very optimistic about what our future business is," he said, adding that President Joe Biden's budget includes funding for the E-7 Wedgetail, an airborne warning and control system aircraft.

"Broadly, you know, we we feel good about our business and the growth aspects across the entire portfolio," Nordlund said.

The company's air dominance section involves design, manufacture and sales of fighter jets, such as the F/A 18 Super Hornets (used by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels) the Air Force's F-15EX, large-scale MQ-25 autonomous drones and the T-7A, the next U.S. Air Force trainer.

Nordlund said the initial plan for Daytona Beach does not involve development of spacecraft.

“Not initially, but ... we will take our engineering resources and apply them to all kinds of hard problems," he said. "So if there's talent that's sitting here in Daytona Beach and we got a problem in the world that we've got to go solve and they're the right resources, we apply them to the problem."

Gov. Ron DeSantis speaks at event

Gov. Ron DeSantis, speaking at an announcement lunch in the ERAU student center Tuesday, thanked the Browns for their $25 million gift and said Hosseini and Embry-Riddle made a compelling case for the $25 million in the 2023-24 Florida budget by noting the impact the Boeing project will have on not just the university and Volusia County, but the Central Florida region.

Florida has state universities to fund, including the University of Florida, Florida State University and the University of Central Florida. DeSantis said a priority of his and the Republican-controlled Legislature in recent years has been to keep state spending “lean,” saying he vetoed more than $3 billion in the state budget of 2022.

“While I wish the private universities well, typically that’s just not our focus because we have a state university system. So to get us to support something private like this, at that level, we would only do that if clearly there’s benefits for the state of Florida and this was the best interests to use taxpayer dollars to do it.”

DeSantis also announced he will not veto another $26 million in this year’s budget that’s pegged for a different project ― related to hypersonics ― at the Embry-Riddle research park.

What this means for Embry-Riddle

Embry-Riddle President Barry Butler said his university recruits faculty and students, many of whom have dreamed of working in the aviation and aerospace industry since they were small children attending air shows or watching rocket launches.

"They aspire to work for places, particularly Boeing, and quite a few of them end up going there," Butler said. "So to have a (Boeing) facility right here on campus is really what an institution like ours is all about," Butler said. "We bring students, we attract them who have an interest in the field, we educate them, we give them internship experiences, and at the end of the day, when they leave, they're ready to work for the best aerospace companies in the world and having one sitting 100 yards from where you took your classes is a pretty, pretty nice opportunity for them."

Butler said he also hopes to tap into Boeing's talent for guest lectures and other ways to engage students.

Long dance between Boeing, ERAU

Embry-Riddle trustees and presidents have long cultivated relationships with industry partners such as Boeing.

"It's it's not like it happened overnight, and things evolved with time," he said.

Butler pointed to the appointment of Nordlund to Embry-Riddle's board in 2019 as one example of the ties between the university and company.

Nordlund, a 1990 ERAU graduate, worked at the university as chief information officer until 1998, and has been with Boeing since 2009. He delivered a commencement address to graduates last month.

"From my lens, the relationship has really accelerated for I'd say the past seven or eight years," Nordlund said.

"We started, you know, really increasing our focus on hiring and this is one of the elite schools within the Boeing portfolio that we target full-time employees, as well as make sure that we carve out a significant number of internships every year," Nordlund said.

Boeing also endowed a two-year scholarship worth up to $15,000 for students with diverse backgrounds.

Watershed moment for growing research park

Hosseini said Boeing had not yet committed to expanding to Daytona Beach when the university announced the $25 million donation by the Browns two years ago. At some point later, the company asked Embry-Riddle about what space might be available to lease at the research park and the Brown Center had already gone under construction, fulfilling Daytona Beach insurance magnate Hyatt Brown's vision as he expressed it in 2022.

“Our focused mission, now and in the future, is economic enhancement of entities in VolusiaCounty that positively affect the quality of life for all our citizens,” Hyatt Brown said then. “Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and other fine academic institutions are economic growth engines that augment and embellish local median family incomes and prepare citizens for productive, sustainable and visionary careers for generations to come.”

Rodney Cruise, ERAU's senior vice president and chief operating officer, said the research park will soon have, in seven years, grown from a single 50,000 square foot facility to 250,000 square feet of business activity, giving rise to the need to expand the park to the east.

"As Research Park East is developed, that's an additional 700,000 or 800,000 square feet of flex lease space. And we see Boeing coming into the research park as an inflection point in the growth of that," Cruise said. "So you're taking something that's moving along quickly in the great big scheme of things to five times the size ... and then you get the rock stars of the the aviation aerospace industry to come and set up shop here. We think it's going to spur the growth of the research park really differently."

10 Best Beach Towns in Florida for Families

W hether your family is sporty, nerdy, lazy, foodie, or all of the above, you are sure to love one of our picks for best beach towns in Florida. After all, the state has over 1,000 miles of sandy beach. The difficult part can be narrowing down your choices!

What makes a great family beach town? Let’s assume easy access to a sandy beach is a given. Add in some kid-friendly restaurants, a few entertainment options, and a variety of places to stay and you’ve got some real contenders. Each beach town in this guide checks all of these boxes and throws in some unique, local character for good measure.

Best Beach Towns in Florida

1. pass-a-grille.

Pass-a-Grille is a small community on the southern end of the more well known St. Pete Beach . It’s best for straight up beach bums!

Read about fun things to do in neighboring St. Pete Beach .

You’ll know you’ve passed into the chill, historic district of Pass-a-Grille when you go south of the Don CeSar Hotel . There are no high rises here, making the area feel especially quaint and walkable. Pass-a-Grille has the best beach in the area because it’s wider than the beaches just to the north.

Take the Shell Key Shuttle for a dolphin cruise or fish off the Merry Pier if you need a day off the sand. Gulf Way is the main drag and home to several family-friendly restaurants. Some, including the Paradise Grill , have excellent views of the water. Sea Critters Café is the place for the freshest catch.

Most likely, a rental house within walking distance of the water and restaurants is your best bet. Coconut Inn and Havana Inn both have fully equipped kitchens and multi-bedroom units . Try a cottage at Inn on the Beach for something in between.

The nearest large resort is the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort and Spa in St. Pete Beach.

Love charming small towns and want something closer to Orlando? Check out Mount Dora !

2. Daytona Beach

Maybe your family wants to jump into the middle of it all rather than get away from it all? If so, head to Daytona Beach! A trip to Daytona is for families that want to see a ton of action . It’s revered as the “world’s most famous beach” and NASCAR headquarters.

From the International Speedway and the Daytona Beach Boardwalk , to the Daytona Lagoon Waterpark , there is a lot to do in Daytona. At the very least, don’t miss your opportunity to climb Florida’s tallest lighthouse, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse .

If you’ve got a large family, or it just looks like you do because of all the gear you lug everywhere, Daytona is the answer to all of your beach dreams. There are sixteen miles of beach open to automobiles. Park on the sand and spare yourself the back ache. Or, rent an electric bike and explore the beachfront on two wheels.

The Shores Resort and Spa is a beachfront resort that blends luxury and all the comforts of home into the perfect retreat. Another family favorite is the Sun Viking Lodge . Some rooms have kitchens and all guests will love the waterslide and fun, family programming at the oceanfront pool.

3. Amelia Island

Amelia Island is the northern-most barrier island on Florida’s east coast. Due to its location, it’s one of the most unique coastal areas in Florida .

History buffs will be especially delighted with all there is to learn about the “Isle of 8 Flags” in historic downtown Fernandina . The giant oaks that cover the island are enough to make any amateur nature photographer swoon. But really, whether you are looking for history, nature, outdoor adventures, or beautiful beaches, Amelia Island will not disappoint.

Have a kid who loves to skateboard? A unique way to tour Amelia Island is on a kid-friendly skateboard tour . They even take photos of your family on the boards so you can have a great keepsake of this fun experience.

Can you imagine anything more idyllic than a horseback ride along the seashore at sunset? Book a ride with Amelia Island Horseback Riding . If you’d rather enjoy horses from afar, take a cruise with Amelia River Cruises to see the wild horses of Cumberland Island, along with dolphins and manatees in the river.

If you would rather get active while exploring the water, check out this highly-rated, family-friendly guided kayak tour .

The island maintains 30+ miles of bike trails . With designated “casual” and “advanced” trails, your family can get on those casual trails and not feel like you are in the way of serious bike riders.

Both the Ritz Carlton and the Omni Amelia Island Resort have large, luxury resorts on the island. At the other end of the spectrum, families can camp at Fort Clinch State Park. For something right down the middle, the Hampton Inn & Suites Amelia Island-Historic Harbor Front overlooks the Fernandina Beach Marina and is a few blocks from the historic district.

Craving some alone time? Check out these romantic getaways in Florida.

Seaside is the ultimate small beach town experience . Its a planned community along the stretch of Florida panhandle between Destin and Panama City Beach known simply as “30A.”

Heading to Destin? Check out our favorite things to do in Destin with kids .

The town’s mission since the early 1980s has been to promote walkability and nourish an instantly recognizable architectural identity. That mission is still largely intact today. The Victorian-meets-Key-West style houses, the white picket fences, the pedestrian alleys, and the adorable gazebos make for some truly alluring neighborhood strolls.

For the most part, vacationing families park their car for the week and walk to the beach and town center. Parents lounge on the front porches of their pastel beach cottage for hours. Kids wander down to the town green to find friends to play with any time they please. Seaside has a very strong feeling of community, even if that “community” is just visiting families living their best life for a week.

There are several restaurants in the town center as well as food trucks on the green. Don’t miss breakfast at the Great Southern Café and watch at least one sunset from the Bud ‘N Alley’s deck . Other than maybe a movie on the green, don’t expect much as far as entertainment goes in these parts.

You won’t find any bowling alleys or go-kart tracks for miles around. There is, however, an 18 mile bike path connecting all of the 30A towns, so bike rentals are a must!

A rental house is the only way to go if you want to stay in Seaside proper. If you find those prices prohibitive, houses in Seagrove are more reasonably priced and the camping at Grayton Beach State Park is phenomenal. Both are just a bike ride away. In fact, if you want a little more privacy, you might actually prefer the state park.

5. Delray Beach

Delray Beach is a small town known for big fun just north of Boca Raton on Florida’s east coast. It’s one of Coastal Living’s “Happiest Seaside Towns.” The mile of Atlantic Avenue stretching inland from the ocean is pedestrian friendly and bustling with local cafes and boutiques.

When you’ve had enough sand in your shoes, stroll through the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens or the Wakodahatchee Wetlands . Must-dos for the whole family include a round of mini-golf through botanical gardens at Putt ‘N Around and catching a shark feeding at the Sandoway Discovery Center .

Delray Beach is known for its eclectic art scene as well. Tour th e Pineapple Arts District just off Atlantic during a First Friday Art Walk to get a taste for the local talent.

Either the Opal Grand Oceanfront Resort or Dover House Resort will put you oceanside near Atlantic Avenue for the ultimate in walkability. If you are looking for easy access to a quieter part of the beach, Berkshire on the Ocean offers one bedroom units with kitchens close to Atlantic Dunes Park.

Naples, far south on the gulf coast of Florida, has long been adored by our country’s snowbirds. It’s more of a well-kept secret though that Naples has a ton to offer families as well.

The cherry on top is that it’s far enough south that families can find a little bit of summer even in January. Naples is perfect for families that need the warmth, and they need it year round.

The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club has the ocean out the front door and the golf course out the back. Talk about making everyone happy! This hotel takes its ocean views seriously. You can keep your eyes on the water from the pool, beach bar, and signature restaurant.

Naples is very close to the Everglades , and it was the wildlife to prove it! Between lemurs at Naples Zoo , bald eagles at Rookery Bay , alligators at Cork Screw Swamp Sanctuary , and the manatees on an eco-tour , your family can be up to your eyeballs in critters for a whole week. And that’s just the beginning! Check out our complete list of 10 Fun Things to Do in Naples, Florida with Kids to get the full picture.

7. Cocoa Beach

There are two distinct reasons Cocoa Beach may be your family’s ideal beach town in Florida. One, it’s only an hour from Orlando. So if you wanted to unwind at the beach after a few high octane days at Disney World, this is the easiest place to do that. And if you are planning on spending time in Orlando or Disney World , we have comprehensive guides for both.

Two, it’s right next to Cape Canaveral. So if seeing a space shuttle launch is on your bucket list, set up camp here for a week during launch dates. There’s plenty of beach to explore while you are waiting for blastoff.

And if you want to explore the waters around Cocoa Beach you definitely won’t want to miss taking the Mangrove Tunnel Manatee and Dolphin kayak tour .

Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort is right next to the pier and has a splash ground, lazy river, and pool. The villas and suites are great for larger families. The Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront has a large, oceanfront pool and bikes and beach toys for rent, as well as on-site surfing lessons.

8. Sanibel Island

Known for its shell-strewn beaches and abundant wildlife , Sanibel Island is a charming Florida beach town on Florida’s southern Gulf Coast, near Fort Meyers. A 3-mile causeway connects Sanibel to the mainland.

Sanibel Island is famous for its abundance of seashells, making it a paradise for shelling enthusiasts of all ages. It is easy to spend hours wandering the sand in search of unique shells and other treasures (like coonuts!) washed ashore by the Gulf of Mexico. Favorite spots include Bowman’s Beach, Turner Beach, and Blind Pass Beach. The best time to go shelling in Sanibel is after a storm or during the morning low tide.

Want more shell-related fun? Check out the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum , which features interactive exhibits, and a diverse collection of shells from around the world.

J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is filled with variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles in their natural habitat. Cruise Wildlife Drive or go for a hike. Be sure to make time for the visitor center which often has educational programs to join.

For the young nature lovers, another highlight of the island is  Sanibel Sea School  featuring year-round marine conservation classes for kids, tweens, and teens.

If you want to get active, rent a bike and cruise the island’s flat paths or rent kayaks to explore the island’s mangrove estuaries, backwater creeks, and coastal waterways. Guided tours are an awesome way for families to learn about the island’s ecosystems and wildlife.

Here is a guide filled with the best beaches and hotels on Sanibel and Captiva Islands . Sanibel Inn is a beachfront hotel along one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the island. The water sports center sets up beach loungers daily and rents out kayaks and SUP paddle boards for free. Every morning, you can also join a naturalist led beach combing walk which is so much for kids.

9. St. Augustine Beach

A family vacation at St. Augustine Beach offers a nice blend of history, outdoor adventure, and relaxing beach time. This small beach town is located on Anastasia Island, just across the bridge from St. Augustine, the oldest city in the country.

St. Augustine Beach is home to a pier, beachfront park with volleyball courts, playground, and a children’s splash zone. The area’s hard-packed sand make it ideal for bike riding. There is plenty of shopping and dining to enjoy on A1A Beach Blvd.

Surfing, boogie boarding, paddle boarding, and parasailing are fun adventures to have just offshore. You will also want to check out kayaking the waterways surrounding St. Augustine Beach , including Salt Run, Anastasia State Park, and the Matanzas River. Paddle through mangrove forests, marshes, and coastal habitats while spotting wildlife such as dolphins and manatees.

Make time to spend the day in St. Augustine which is filled with historic attractions like the Castillo de San Marcos, the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, and the Colonial Quarter. Make time to visit St. George Street, a pedestrian-only street lined with shops, restaurants, galleries, and historic buildings.

10. Key West

While Key West is certainly known for its nightlife, it also makes for a wonderful family-friendly getaway as well. Key West is home a wonderful coral reef and glass bottom tours and snorkeling excursions are very popular.

The largest of the beaches in Key West is Smathers Beach . It starts at mile marker zero and spans about a half mile. It is a great place to rent some beach chairs and enjoy the day.

When sunset nears, head to free nightlystreet carnival in  Mallory Square .  Street performers, food carts and artisans combine to create a lively atmosphere.  Expect to see a sword swallower, juggler, tightrope walker, and other interesting performers.

Some of Key West’s other highlights include the Hemingway House (home to the famed polydactyl cats), the Key West Shipwreck Museum , and the Key West Lighthouse .

Key West is also a gerat jumping off point for a day trip to Dry Tortugas National Park . This remote national park is accessed by a boat tour or seaplane. It is home to secluded beaches with sensational snorkeling as well as Fort Jefferson, which was once used as a prison during the Civil War.

Angie is amazing!!! I had a two week trip scheduled for Europe that was unexpectedly cancelled (due to a trip coordinator going bankrupt). I was so disappointed to learn this three weeks before we were supposed to leave. This caused money to be a major factor - and Angie came to the rescue. Angie in just a few days got me an amazing trip on my budget to Spain/Rome!!! This is my first time out of the country and she held my hand in with hotel reservations, transportation and insight on what we should do while we were there. Her advise and experience was so helpful. I strongly recommend her for any of your travel needs!!!! Pictures to follow when I return. Dawn Jones

Cindy C I am so sorry that I missed your email! I have searched through all my emails and junk mail and have not found it. I'm not sure why it was not there because I keep all my emails and don't delete them. My email leads are so important to me and I am sick that this happened! I hope you will try me again in the near future. My cell phone is 386 295 0787 and my business phone is 386 258 7600.

Barron Trump: College or gap year? Other class of 2024 celebrity grads, 'nepo babies'

Will barron trump go to the university of pennsylvania like his father donald trump, georgetown like his siblings or nyu.

cruises in daytona beach florida

High school, check. Next up? College.

Like thousands of children across the U.S., Barron Trump , the only child of former president Donald Trump and former first lady Melania  Trump, received his high school diploma and was branded part of the class of 2024. Barron Trump graduated May 17, 2024, from Oxbridge Academy near West Palm Beach, Florida, and both parents attended.

Will Barron Trump go to college ? Will the 6-foot-7 former first son take a gap year? The former first couple has not said much. One possibility could be New York University in Manhattan, where Barron Trump spent much of his childhood — and lived until his father was sworn in as the 45th president in early 2017.

As of Friday, June 14, it has not been announced where Barron Trump will attend college , but, like many other celebrity children or "nepo babies" − a shortened slang term (aka "nepotism baby") used to describe children or relatives of celebrities or famous people − people are curious about their future and whether they'll follow in their famous parents' footsteps.

Here's a look at other class of 2024 celebrity children and where they're headed to college in fall 2024. Keep scrolling for a roundup of class of 2024 celebrity children or celebrity college graduates, too. Some of the famous people listed have a Florida tie .

A towering figure. Wow! How tall is Barron Trump? Compare his height with other celebrities

Suri Cruise, daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Suri Cruise, the only child of Tom Cruise ("Mission Impossible" films, "Top Gun Maverick") and Katie Holmes ("Dawson's Creek," "Batman Begins"), graduated from LaGuardia High School in June 2024.

According to an E! Online story on June 7, 2024 , speculation on where Suri Cruise plans to go to college surfaced after a classmate posted a TikTok on May 20 with the caption "LaG commitment day," showing Suri and her friends celebrating their school picks and showing off their college sweaters. E! Online reports the video, which is private, was set to the Hannah Montana song "I'll Always Remember You" and featured the 18-year-old "sporting a red Carnegie Mellon University sweater while making silly faces for the camera and doing a cute dance with her friends."

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were married from 2006 to 2012. Cruise, who has two other adult children (Isabella Cruise and Connor Cruise) with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, has had a condo in Florida for many years.

Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany: As Barron Trump college choice looms, here's where his family graduated (and who didn't)

Ryder Fieri, son of Food Network star Guy Fieri

Ryder Fieri, the youngest son of Food Network star Guy Fieri ("Guy's Grocery Games," "Tournament of Champions") and his wife, Lori, graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, California, in June 2024.

Ryder Fieri played basketball and lacrosse for the Windsor Jaguars, according to maxpreps.com . His celebrity chef father, Guy Fieri, complimented his son on his sports achievements and GPA in an Instagram post − and some famous people responded to the news, including Sammy Hagar, Iron Chefs Alex Guarnaschelli and Michael Symon .

Since 2021, Food Network star Guy Fieri doubled down on South Florida , purchasing homes in Lake Worth Beach and on Singer Island near West Palm Beach. In September 2023, the Palm Beach Post reported Fieri, who signed an $80 million, three-year deal with the Food Network  in 2021, is a frequent visitor to Palm Beach County, but it was unclear whether he planned to make the area his full-time residence. He told the Bradenton Herald in 2021 that his family would stay in Northern California at least until his youngest son Ryder finished high school.

Guy Fieri has 2 homes in Florida. Get an inside look at the celebrity chef's waterfront homes here

Justin Pippen, son of Chicago Bulls star, NBA legend Scottie Pippen

Justin Pippen, the youngest son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen, graduated from Sierra Canyon High School in California in May 2024.

Scottie Pippen, a seven-time NBA All-Star (including six with the Chicago Bulls), posted on Instagram about his son Justin Pippen, who played guard for his high school basketball team, calling himself a "proud dad." In an April 2024 story on espn.com , Justin Pippen formally committed to Michigan and will become a Wolverine in the fall. Justin Pippen chose new coach Dusty May and the Wolverines over a final list that included Cal, the University of Florida Gators, Stanford and Texas A&M, ESPN reported.

Violet Affleck, daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Violet Affleck, the eldest child of Ben Affleck (DC's "Justice League," " Armageddon ") and Jennifer Garner (" 13 Going on 30 ," "Family Switch"), graduated from a Los Angeles-area high school on May 30, 2024.

The class of 2024 student, whose siblings are Seraphina and Samuel, looks like she's headed to Yale, according to a public post on her school's Instagram, in which Violet Affleck is seen wearing the Ivy League college sweater.

Ben Affleck as an astronaut was believeable, but ... Your favorite space movies, like "Armageddon," debunked

Moses Martin, son of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Moses Martin, the youngest child of Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow ("Iron Man" and "Avengers" films) and Coldplay's Chris Martin, graduated from high school on May 30, 2024.

The class of 2024 graduate has an older sister, Apple Martin. According to thecut.com, Moses Martin is headed to Brown University.

Henry Samuel, son of Heidi Klum and Seal

Henry Samuel, the eldest son of actress and Victoria Secret supermodel Heidi Klum ("America's Got Talent," "Project Runway") and singer Seal, graduated from Pacifica Christian High School in Santa Monica, California, on June 7, 2024.

Klum posted videos on her Instagram congratulating the 18-year-old class of 2024 student, who has a half-sister Leni Klum, and siblings Johan Samuel and Lou Samuel. Klum's caption says, "College here we come," though she did not specify which university Henry Samuel had picked.

Shepherd Seinfeld, son of Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld

Shepherd Seinfeld, the youngest son of Jessica Seinfeld and comedian Jerry Seinfeld ("Seinfeld," "Unfrosted"), graduated from high school June 10, 2024.

The class of 2024 graduate has siblings Sascha Seinfeld and Julian Seinfeld. While she didn't mention college plans for her youngest son, Jessica Seinfeld did post on Instagram her retro graduation gift to Shepherd Seinfeld: a flip phone.

Class of 2024 celebrity children college graduates

Celebrities are just like us! Who says famous parents with children can’t be excited or get the “empty nester” feeling when their child graduates from college? Here’s a roundup of class of 2024 college graduates: celebrity children or “nepo baby” edition.

Nikko Gonzalez , son of journalist Lauren Sanchez (soon to be Mrs. Jeff Bezos , one of the richest men on the planet) and her ex, former NFL player Tony Gonzalez, graduated from college in May 2024. Sanchez, Bezos and Tony Gonzalez attended the commencement ceremony. Bezos and Sanchez moved to Florida, with multiple properties in Indian Creek Village , a private neighborhood known as " Billionaire Bunker ." In 2023, USA TODAY reported Bezos said he wanted to live in Miami to be closer to his parents and the Cape Canaveral operations of  Blue Origin , his space exploration company.

Karma Bridges , daughter of actor and rapper Ludacris, real name Chris Bridges, graduated from Spelman College in May 2024. Ludacris, who appeared in several of the “Fast and Furious” films over the years, posted on Instagram about his daughter’s college graduation, adding in the caption: “Make sure you add Summa Cum Laude”

Liv Freundlich , daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore (“Still Alice,” “The Kids are All Right”) and director Bart Freundlich, graduated from Northwestern University in May 2024.

Sophia Meloni , daughter of actor Christopher Meloni (“Law and Order: SVU” and “Runaway Bride”) and wife Sherman Williams, graduated from college in May 2024. According to People magazine, Christopher Meloni’s longtime “SVU” co-star Mariska Hargitay is the godmother of Sophia Meloni, and she also attended Sophia’s college graduation.

Bridgit Mendler , the “Good Luck, Charlie” and Disney Channel star graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020 with her master’s degree. Mendler, who recently established her startup Northwood Space, was pursuing her PhD doctorate at MIT before taking a pause, according to a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. In May 2024, however, Mendler graduated from Harvard Law School.

Massai Dorsey , son of actress Nia Long “(Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) and ex Massai Z. Dorsey, graduated from NYU in May 2024.

Ella Stiller , daughter of actress Christine Taylor (“Friends,” “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”) and Ben Stiller (“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Night at the Museum” films), graduated from the Juilliard School in New York in May 2024.
