The Safari Sportsman Kit

Introducing Russell Built’s newest offering to the Porsche 911 Off Road market the Safari Sportsman kit for Porsche 964 models. This purpose built package is based around our race proven NORRA Baja 500 class winning off road suspension that has been engineered new from the ground up to withstand the most brutal off road terrain all while reversing the negative geometry characteristics experienced when lifting a 911.  With 10” of wheel travel, 2” of lengthened wheelbase, raised ground clearance and a widened track width this kit was specifically designed to soak up heavy off road abuse while still retaining a plush, responsive and sporty feel expected from a daily driven Porsche 911. 

Take this one of a kind industry leading suspension package and dress it up with the hips and curves of the iconic wide body TURBO 964 and you have what we call our Safari Sportsman kit. 

Offered as a base package or with an “a-la-carte” inspired list of accessories and options gives the customer the opportunity to enter the Off-road Porsche world and slowly build up their vehicle as they see fit based on desire and or budget.

This Sportsman kit is completely bolt on requiring little to no fabrication and minimal trimming to the factory body leaving the option of returning the car back to stock form if ever desired.

Safari Damper Kit, Porsche 911

Description:

A joint effort between MCS dampers and Tarett Engineering, this Safari damper kit will allow for a 3" to 4" suspension lift on your Porsche 911.  The full suspension kit is recommended to properly accommodate the extended travel.

Each kit comes complete with:

• New billet machined spindles
• Longer length and stroke MCS one-way adjustable dampers
• Lowered spindles for correct geometry
• Welded on tie rod support brackets

Disco-era racing heritage can be yours, plus the cost of the 911 dakar, of course..

P orsche's rally-inspired 911 Dakar, an off-road-prepped sports car, is a rolling nostalgia bin. Way back when, the 911 was a force in rallying, its rear-engine layout giving it traction in the dirt and muck, while that same rear-engine layout helped, er, whip the tail around rally-style. But Porsche never transferred that rally heritage directly into its roadgoing sports cars, leaving adventurous owners to lift their suspensions, fit burlier tires, and festoon their rides with fun running lights and roof racks and such—leading to the so-called "Safari-style" 911. Well, with the 2023 911 Dakar , an ultra-limited-production, eye-wateringly expensive 911, Porsche is finally selling a factory Safari-style 911. And to really push the whole old-timey rally 911 vibe, it'll sell three heritage-inspired liveries (in the form of body wraps) to customers who want a less subtle Dakar in their garage. Here they are:

2023 Porsche 911 Dakar | Rallye 1971 Livery

Reaching way back in Porsche's rally racing vault to 1971's East Africa Safari in Kenya, this "Rallye 1971" wrap brings a delightfully retro flair to the Dakar's body. The No. 19 getup harkens back to the year's "most successful 911 in [that] rally," which was piloted by Polish drivers Marian Bien and Sobieslaw Zasada.

The 1971 East African Safari Rally racing 911s were the first ever factory-backed rally 911s.

The '71 rally car's simple graphics carry over to the $5,260 Rallye 1971 wrap option for the Dakar, with a large black block on the hood, a round No. 19 card on the doors, and even some cool Bilstein and Shell sponsor decals on the front and rear fenders.

2023 Porsche 911 Dakar | Rallye 1974 Livery

Wait, isn't this the same No. 19 car? Not exactly. Though the numeral is the same, this graphics kit harkens back to the 1974 East African Safari contender driven by Björn Waldegård and Hans Thorszelius.

That '74 car was a 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, and it actually led the 1,255-mile race right until the end, when suspension damage caused a 72-minute delay—enough to erase the team's 36-minute lead and then some, meaning Porsche ultimately finished second.

Just like that '74 model, the new 911 Dakar's Rallye 1974 wrap is applied to a plain ol' white body. The graphics are simple, with black and blue shoulder stripes, Bilstein and Shell sponsor decals, and the classic "PORSCHE" lettering and stripes on each door. It runs the same $5,260 as the Rallye 1971 wrap, and like that one, can be ordered via Porsche Tequipment at participating Porsche dealerships in addition to Porsche Manufaktur.

2023 Porsche 911 Dakar | Rallye 1978 Livery

This setup was previewed at the Dakar's launch late last year, and is clearly a nod to a certain Porsche racing livery that rhymes with "cartini." While the words "Martini Racing" are mentioned only once in Porsche's materials on this specific livery, there's no mistaking that iconic white, blue, and orange getup.

Also referred to as "the sponsor's decals" from Porsche's 1978 East African Safari effort, the Martini stripes look amazing here in combination with white-painted wheels.

For the "respectfully reinterpreted historic decals" you see here, get ready to pony up. The Rallye 1978/Martini livery will set you back $7,510 and can be ordered via Porsche's Exclusive Manufaktur program.
