Staterooms – Frequently Asked Questions
What are the different types of verandahs?
You can choose from 3 types of stateroom verandahs on a Disney Cruise Line ship:
- The standard verandah features an open-air balcony skirted by an acrylic wall, allowing for a full view of the horizon even while seated.
- The whitewall verandah offers open-air lounging with a solid wall from the deck to the railing. Most of these staterooms are located in the aft portion of the ship.
- The navigator’s verandah is enclosed for greater privacy while still affording a stunning view and sea breezes through a large, open-air porthole above the railing.
Please note: Verandahs differ by size and style depending on the ship and stateroom type, and the view on some verandahs may be obstructed. You can preview images of your stateroom’s verandah style during the booking process. And you may upgrade your room category to enjoy a more spacious verandah or an unobstructed view after booking your cruise.
On connecting verandah staterooms, the partitions can be opened to create an even more spacious balcony.

Disney Dream cabin question (obstructed view?)

My wife and I are booked in November for cabin 7502 (bow cabin oceanview, starboard side, one cabin in from the corner cabin). I just noticed on the reservation it says "obstructed view". I'm confused as to what is obstructing it. I do notice in the construction pics they show round portholes, but the finished ship has long rows of square windows; is there a secondary bulkhead obscuring the views? (That would make little sense, as what would be the "oceanview" point of it?)

I don't know about the Dream but on the Magic Clas ships, an obstructed view has a liferaft canister, structure or something else partially blocking the view. Before you think that you're not getting your money's worth, these rooms are down-classified from identical staterooms with unobstructed views. The Secret Porthole rooms for example.
Click on the link below. It's to an earlier post with pics. From what I've read about these rooms, I think the only obstruction is the bow itself. It's a more limited view of the ocean than you would get from a higher floor.

The front bow cabins have a porthole that slants upwards instead of a straight up and down. The walls in that area also have a slanted "attic" type feel to them. Bonus of this however is that the room is laid out differently and feels (is) larger then similar class 9 staterooms. :)
