Korn & Evanescence at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

This spring, Korn and Evanescence announced that they are joining forces for a massive tour targeting 18-cities across America. Korn frontman Jonathan Davis expressed his excitement about touring the U.S. with their fellow Grammy Awardee. “We’re looking forward to going on tour this summer and bringing our friends, Evanescence, out,” Davis said. “Whenever Amy comes to one of our shows, I always love seeing her on the side of the stage, watching the whole set and rocking out. We’re gonna have a great time on this tour, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

This tour is not the first time Korn has been seen performing with Evanescence. In 2006, Evanescence singer Amy Lee joined Korn in performing the track “Freak on a Leash” for the band’s MTV unplugged taping. Moreover, Evanescence has performed renditions of Korn’s hit “Thoughtless” on stage. “I fell hard into Korn’s music in high school. It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we’ve had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen,” Lee said. “It’s an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since ‘07. We’re all really looking forward to this.”

Get your tickets now and see these monumental acts fire up the stage at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Saturday, 20th August 2022!

Local News | Korn x Evanescence tour reunites rockers for tour stopping in Tinley Park

Author

The Korn x Evanescence summer tour comes to what is now Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Aug. 20 with opening acts Jeris Johnson and Helmet.

“It feels like old and new at the same time in a cool way,” said Amy Lee, Evanescence’s co-founder, lead singer-songwriter and pianist.

“You have nostalgia now mixed with the feeling of going out on tour with Korn. Our last full tour with them was in 2007 so it’s been a while but we have good memories of that time. It’s always a pleasure to watch Korn play live. They’re one of the best live heavy bands out there still.”

Known for songs such as “Got the Life” from the 1998 album “Follow the Leader” and “Falling Away From Me” from 1999’s “Issues,” Korn received Grammy Awards for best short form music video for “Freak on a Leash” and best metal performance for “Here to Stay” from 2002’s “Untouchables.”

Korn, which has sold 40 million albums worldwide since releasing its 1994 self-titled debut, is touring in support of its 14th album, “Requiem,” which was released in February and features “Start the Healing” and “Worst Is on Its Way.”

“We’re looking forward to going on tour this summer and bringing our friends Evanescence out,” Korn lead vocalist Jonathan Davis said in a news release.

“Whenever Amy comes to one of our shows, I always love seeing her on the side of the stage watching the whole set and rocking out. We’re gonna have a great time on this tour, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

Evanescence is touring in support of its fifth album, 2021’s “The Bitter Truth,” which band members primarily wrote and recorded separately from one another in 2020 during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“My natural process has some isolation — me in a cave creating stuff by myself in a studio. Everything shutting down forced me into that space,” said Lee, who was 11 years old when her family moved to Rockford for a year and a half while her father, John Lee, was a disc jockey at 96.7 FM.

“We already had a few songs recorded but there was a lot more to do. We had been planning on going on tour for a little bit and coming back and writing. Suddenly the world was on fire and there was so much that needed to come out. It was a hard time in so many ways.”

“The Bitter Truth” features “Wasted on You,” “The Game Is Over,” “Use My Voice” and “Better Without You.”

“The recording process was different. We really had to think. It was impossible to plan on anything for more than a few weeks out. You just didn’t know what would happen,” said Lee of Nashville, Tennessee.

“It wasn’t like the beginning days. It was like, ‘We need to do what we can when we can and pull it from our hearts.’ It felt like it wasn’t about following the rules or processes we were used to. If we really want this, the only way that’s going to happen is it’s going to take fighting for it.

“I think that sentiment is in the lyrics, the feel and the spirit of the music. There’s a reason for this music, not just for us but there’s a reason to make this music for the world in that time.”

Several of those songs are planned for Evanescence’s set list in the Southland.

“We’re definitely playing a lot of our new album, ‘The Bitter Truth,” Amy Lee said.

“It was 10 years between full albums for us so finally getting to this place and getting really deep and making this album, we are so proud of it and it still feels fresh. It feels good to have so much new music after a long time.”

She cited “The End of the Dream,” which originally appeared on Evanescence’s self-titled 2011 album, as one of her favorites to perform.

“There’s this really cool moment in our show where we created a hybrid of the ‘Synthesis’ version of the song and then go into a rock version of the song. It’s this big epic centerpiece of the show,” Lee said.

Evanescence, which released the albums “Synthesis” in 2017 and “The Open Door” in 2006, received Grammys for best new artist and best hard rock performance for “Bring Me to Life” after releasing its debut album, “Fallen,” in 2003.

“That was such a crazy time. I was 21 so it was all just big. I was only a couple years out of high school so everything was happening really fast but it was very surreal. It was wonderful. There were hard parts of it too, being a very young woman in a hard rock environment and having to fight for my place,” she said.

“‘Bring Me to Life’ was this amazing bright spot in so many ways because we did it. We broke through. Our song was doing what back then qualified as a hit. It was on the radio and on TV and in other countries.

“It gave us this incredible opportunity to go all over the world for the first time and me to get my first passport. I’m not sick of it. That is a highlight on stage as well because the song has grown since then in the way that it sounds when we play it now with this band at this point in our lives and what it means.”

Emma Anzai joined Evanescence as bassist and backing vocalist in May, when former bassist Tim McCord moved to guitar, joining fellow longtime bandmates guitarist Troy McLawhorn and drummer Will Hunt.

“Being in a band for my job is the coolest thing in the world,” Lee said.

“I’m proud of the way that our music has brought hope to people.”

KORN changed the world with the release of its self-titled debut album. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, while the band's enduring success points to a larger cultural moment. The Fader notes: "There was an unexpected opening in the pop landscape and KORN articulated a generational coming-of-angst for a claustrophobic, self-surveilled consciousness. KORN became the soundtrack for a generation's arrival as a snarling, thrashing, systemically-restrained freak show."

Since forming, KORN has sold 40 million albums worldwide, collected two Grammys , toured the world countless times, and set many records in the process that will likely never be surpassed. KORN has continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans and generations of artists around the globe.

The level of KORN 's reach transcends accolades and platinum certifications. They are "a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now," attests The Ringer . They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.

The band's latest release, "Requiem" , was born out of very different circumstances than the majority of the band's catalog; with their busy touring schedule halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band found themselves energized by a new creative process free of time constraints. This allowed them to do things with "Requiem" that the past two decades haven't always afforded them, such as taking additional time to experiment together or diligently recording to analog tape — processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music. The record has been praised by fans and critics alike and also saw its lead single, "Start The Healing" , reach No. 1 on the Modern Rock Radio chart.

Two-time Grammy Award -winning EVANESCENCE has made an impact on people around the world. The group's 2003 landmark debut album "Fallen" laid the foundation, spending 43 weeks on the Billboard Top 10 and selling more than 17 million copies worldwide. Debut single and global hit "Bring Me To Life" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and marked their first U.K. No. 1 hit single. The equally popular "My Immortal" peaked at No. 7 in the U.S. and U.K.

Following multiple worldwide tours, "The Open Door" came next, which went on to sell more than five million copies followed by the self-titled EVANESCENCE which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. EVANESCENCE lead singer-songwriter and pianist Amy Lee , bassist Tim McCord , drummer Will Hunt , lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn and guitarist and backing vocalist Jen Majura went down both very new and familiar paths for their symphonic/electronic fourth release, "Synthesis" , in 2017 via BMG . The album scored four Billboard No. 1s debuting atop the Independent, Alternative, Rock, and Classical Album Charts.

EVANESCENCE launched their worldwide "Synthesis Live" tour in October 2017 combining their intense live performances and timeless songwriting with a powerful live orchestra. In March of 2021, EVANESCENCE released their newest studio album, "The Bitter Truth" , featuring the songs "Wasted On You" and "Use My Voice" , both of which were nominated for MTV Video Awards , as well as "Better Without You" , a Top-10 charting song at U.S. rock radio, having spent an incredible 27 weeks on the chart.

Korn changed the world with the release of their self-titled debut album. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, while the band’s enduring success points to a larger cultural moment. The FADER notes, “ There was an unexpected opening in the pop landscape and Korn articulated a generational coming-of-angst for a claustrophobic, self-surveilled consciousness. Korn became the soundtrack for a generation’s arrival as a snarling, thrashing, systemically-restrained freak show .”

Since forming, Korn has sold 40 million albums worldwide, collected two Grammys, toured the world countless times, and set many records in the process that will likely never be surpassed. Korn has continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans and generations of artists around the globe.

The level of Korn’s reach transcends accolades and platinum certifications. They are “ a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now, ” attests The Ringer. They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.

The band’s latest release,  Requiem , was born out of very different circumstances than the majority of the band’s catalog; with their busy touring schedule halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band found themselves energized by a new creative process free of time constraints. This allowed them to do things with  Requiem   that the past two decades haven’t always afforded them, such as taking additional time to experiment together or diligently recording to analog tape – processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music. The record has been praised by fans and critics alike and also saw its lead single, “Start The Healing,” reach #1 on the Modern Rock Radio chart.

Two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Evanescence has made an impact on people around the world. The group’s 2003 landmark debut album Fallen laid the foundation, spending 43 weeks on the Billboard Top 10 and selling more than 17 million copies worldwide. Debut single and global hit “Bring Me to Life” reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and marked their first U.K. #1 hit single. The equally popular “My Immortal” peaked at #7 in the U.S. and U.K.

Evanescence lead singer-songwriter and pianist Amy Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn, and guitarist and backing vocalist Jen Majura went down both very new and familiar paths for their symphonic/electronic 4th release, Synthesis, in 2017 via BMG.  The album scored four Billboard #1s debuting atop the Independent, Alternative, Rock, and Classical Album Charts.

Evanescence launched their worldwide “Synthesis Live” tour in October 2017 combining their intense live performances and timeless songwriting with a powerful live orchestra. Korn and Evanescence Announce 2022 Summer Tour

Korn and Evanescence  were each voted by Revolver readers as two of the top five live bands of 2021, and now they're merging their powers for a tour together in 2022. The bands have announced an 18-date trek across the U.S. that begins in August and wraps up in September, with special guest openers who will be announced at a later date.

The run begins August 16th in Denver and snakes throughout the Midwest, out East, down South and eventually wraps up with a three-day stint in Washington that ends in Ridgefield on September 16th. Korn will of course be showcasing material from their 2022 opus, Requiem , while Evanescence will be playing in support of their 2021 comeback album, The Bitter Truth .

"We're looking forward to going on tour this summer and bringing our friends, Evanescence, out," said Korn's Jonathan Davis. "Whenever Amy [Lee] comes to one of our shows, I always love seeing her on the side of the stage watching the whole set and rocking out. We're gonna have a great time on this tour, and we can't wait to see you there."

"I fell hard into Korn's music in high school," Lee added. "It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we've had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I've ever seen. It's an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since '07. We're all really looking forward to this."

Tickets for the whole run go on sale this Friday April 8th at 10 a.m. local time via LiveNation.com. See the full list of dates below.

Korn + Evanescence Announce Summer 2022 Tour

After sharing the same cryptic video clip on Monday (April 5), Korn and Evanescence have announced a co-headlining North American tour set for this summer.

The union is also quite remarkable because the two bands haven't linked up for a tour together since the Family Values run back in 2007 where and Korn put out their untitled album that summer and Evanescence were out in support of their sophomore record, 2006's  The Open Door .

“We’re looking forward to going on tour this summer and bringing our friends, Evanescence, out,” said Jonathan Davis of Korn. “Whenever Amy comes to one of our shows, I always love seeing her on the side of the stage watching the whole set and rocking out. We’re gonna have a great time on this tour, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

“I fell hard into Korn’s music in high school. It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we’ve had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen,” said Amy Lee . “It’s an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since ‘07. We’re all really looking forward to this.”

Now, Korn have a brand new LP —  Requiem — to tour behind, boasting new hits such as " Start the Healing ," " Forgotten " and " Lost in the Grandeur ." Meanwhile, Evanescence will continue to tout last year's long-awaited  The Bitter Truth , which spawned new standouts in " Wasted on You ," " The Game Is Over ," " Use My Voice " and " Better Without You ."

See the complete list of tour dates below and look for tickets to go on sale on April 8 at 10AM local time.

Debut single and global hit “Bring Me to Life” reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and marked their first U.K. #1 hit single. The equally popular “My Immortal” peaked at #7 in the U.S. and U.K.

Following multiple worldwide tours, The Open Door came next, which went on to sell more than five million copies followed by the self-titled Evanescence which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. Evanescence lead singer-songwriter and pianist Amy Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn, and guitarist and backing vocalist Jen Majura went down both very new and familiar paths for their symphonic/electronic fourth release, Synthesis, in 2017 via BMG. The album scored four Billboard #1s debuting atop the Independent, Alternative, Rock, and Classical Album Charts.

Evanescence launched their worldwide “Synthesis Live” tour in October 2017 combining their intense live performances and timeless songwriting with a powerful live orchestra. In March of 2021, Evanescence released their newest studio album, The Bitter Truth, featuring the songs, “Wasted On You” & “Use My Voice,” both of which were nominated for MTV Video Awards, as well as “Better Without You,” a Top-10 charting song at US Rock Radio, having spent an incredible 27 weeks on the chart.

On the heels of their Spring tour, Korn announces a summer tour with fellow rock culture icons Evanescence, produced by Live Nation. Accompanied by special guests varying across select dates, the 18-city tour kicks off on August 16th at Ball Arena in Denver, CO making stops across the U.S. in Boston, Chicago, Houston and more before wrapping up in Ridgefield, WA on September 16th.

They remain one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen,” said Amy Lee of Evanescence. “It’s an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since ‘07. We’re all really looking forward to this.”

About Korn Korn changed the world with the release of their self-titled debut album. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, while the band’s enduring success points to a larger cultural moment. The FADER notes, “There was an unexpected opening in the pop landscape and Korn articulated a generational coming-of-angst for a claustrophobic, self-surveilled consciousness. Korn became the soundtrack for a generation’s arrival as a snarling, thrashing, systemically-restrained freak show.”

They are “a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now,” attests The Ringer. They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.

The band’s latest release, Requiem, was born out of very different circumstances than the majority of the band's catalog; with their busy touring schedule halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band found themselves energized by a new creative process free of time constraints. This allowed them to do things with Requiem that the past two decades haven't always afforded them, such as taking additional time to experiment together or diligently recording to analog tape – processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music. The record has been praised by fans and critics alike and also saw its lead single, "Start The Healing," reach #1 on the Modern Rock Radio chart.
