New Edition performs together onstage.

New Edition is getting back into the New Jack Swing of things.

Following a massive 2022 tour, the famed R&B group decided to do it all over again next year and will take their “Legacy Tour” to arenas all over North America from March 9 through April 30.

And no, you don’t have to worry the whole group— Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny— will be there.

To sweeten the deal, they’re bringing along fellow icons Keith Sweat, the recently reunited Guy and Tank along for the ride as well.

On the 30-concert trek, New Edition and their impressive roster of opening acts will drop into the NY/NJ area three times— first up, they’ll hit Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on March 18, then Newark’s Prudential Center on March 19 and finally, Elmont’s UBS Arena on April 20.

So, if you count yourself among the many #NE4Lifers and can’t wait to hear “Candy Girl,” live, here’s everything you need to know about the 2023 “Legacy Tour.”

New Edition 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar featuring all upcoming tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

New Edition opening acts

The lineup for the “Legacy Tour” is truly stacked. In the off chance you’re not acquainted with the tour’s special guests, we’ve got a quick refresher ready to go for you.

Keith Sweat has five Top 10 Billboard hits and 14 huge albums under his belt, making him a bona fide headliner in his own right. In fact, he’s got a few arena gigs of his own lined up for next year. If you’re looking to fall in love with his music all over again, give “Twisted,” one of the all-time great slow jams, a spin.

Guy , currently made up of Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall and Damion Hall, broke up in 1991 and has reunited multiple times since the initial split. Most recently, the New Jack Swing pioneers played a handful of gigs in 2018-19 where they busted out their classic hits “Let’s Chill” and “Groove Me.”

Tank is a bit newer to the scene, getting his start in 2001. Over the past two decades, he’s steadily released music— including smash singles “Maybe I Deserve,” “Please Don’t Go” and “When We”— and developed a nice acting career as well. You very may well recognize him from his work in “The Real Husbands of Hollywood,” “Grown Folks” and, of course, “The New Edition Story.”

Huge R&B tours in 2023

Our musical forecast for next year: Expect lots of slow dances and party-starting anthems.

That’s because many of the biggest names in R&B have lined up tours in the coming months.

Rather than overwhelm you, here are just five of our favorite can’t miss acts you have to catch when they come to a city near you this winter, spring and summer.

•  Janet Jackson

•  The Temptations and Four Tops

•  Lizzo

•  SZA

•  Usher

New Edition Invites Keith Sweat, Guy & Tank On The 'Legacy Tour'

Butta

New Edition is back outside in 2023! After going on The Culture Tour earlier this year with Charlie Wilson and Jodeci , NE is hitting the road once again in the new year. This time around, they're taking off on the Legacy Tour and bringing fellow '80s and '90s R&B veterans Keith Sweat and Guy and special guest Tank along for the musical joyride.

The legendary group is teaming back up with the Black Promoters Collective , the producers of The Culture Tour, to present their Legacy Tour. All six members of New Edition – Ronnie DeVoe , Bobby Brown , Ricky Bell , Michael Bivins , Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill – are going to take over stages across the United States beginning in March with their classic sing-along songs and slick choreography.

The Legacy Tour kicks off on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Columbia, South Carolina before traveling to a total of 31 cities as winter ends and spring begins. Tour stops include Memphis, D.C., Hampton, Newark, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Oakland, Cleveland, Nashville, Baltimore and Miami. New Edition and friends will wrap things up on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in Tampa.

Make plans to attend the Legacy Tour now and prepare to have a time. New Edition is guaranteed to put on a consistently stellar show night after night, and that's on N.E. Heartbreak . Keith Sweat will be quite entertaining (especially if he has some Ciroc in him). Guy members Teddy Riley , Aaron Hall and Damion Hall will show and prove that they've still got the juice and the jams. And though he's allegedly and supposedly retired from R&B, we've got our money (see what we did there?) on Tank giving fans the best that he's got as the opening, opening, opening act.

Legacy Tour tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 16th at 10 a.m. local time and may be purchased via the Black Promoters Collective website . American Express cardholders can access and purchase presale tickets now through Thursday, December 15th at 11:59 p.m. local time. If the Legacy Tour is anything like The Culture Tour, tickets will sell fast and may very well sell out, so get yours early.

Tank R&B Money album cover

Tank’s appearance on tour will support his final album,  R&B Money , which dropped in August and was included on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2022 list.

R&B Money  includes Tank’s radio hits “ Can’t Let It Show ,” “ I Deserve ” and the most recent “ Slow ” featuring J. Valentine. The two performed the bedroom banger at the 2022 Soul Train Awards .

Tank described his final album as “a labor of love to my fans and to the genre of R&B.” He added, “I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for artists like Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Keith Sweat, Al Green, as well as my fans who inspire me every day to make music. I wanted this album to pay homage to my influences and my evolution as an artist, and I think that’s what this final album represents.”

New Edition Announces ‘Legacy’ Tour With Guy, Keith Sweat, And Tank

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

In 1983, New Edition released its debut album, Candy Girl . Within the last 40 years, the group—comprised of Bobby Brown , Ralph Tresvant , Michael Bivins , Ricky Bell , Johnny Gill , and Ronnie DeVoe — has evolved , and now the men are set to embark on their biggest celebration to date.

After their successful run with The Culture Tour , the sextet will hit the road yet again for another musical excursion in 2023: the Legacy Tour. The 30-city tour includes a New Jack Swing reunion with all of the original members of Guy —Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, and Damion Hall—alongside Keith Sweat and Tank . New Edition are a band hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, United States who formed in 1978. Since their debut, they have released seven studio albums and are generally considered to be one of the world's first true boy-bands.

The group was formed by a group of five friends who all lived in the Orchard Park housing projects in Boston, Massachusetts. Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Travis Pettus and Corey Rackley all came together in 1978 and soon after their formation they were performing at local talent shows and anywhere else that would have them. Soon after their first live show they met Brooke Payne, a choreographer who was branching out into management. He saw something in the band so he had them audition for him a couple of days after first meeting them, and was so impressed with what he saw that he became their manager. He also named them New Edition as he saw them as an updated version of The Jackson 5, but it still wasn't enough for Rackley or Pettus.

They left the group shortly after it was named, but were shortly replaced by Ralph Tresvant and Ronnie DeVoe, respectively. Over the next couple of years, the band continued to perform live and make demos until their big break in 1982, where they were seen live by the singer/producer Maurice Starr. Starr was so impressed with the band that he took them into his personal recording studio and cut their debut album “Candy Girl” right there and then. The album was released in 1983, and it's title track was a big hit, topping the Billboard R&B Chart and the U.K singles chart (the first ever number one single in the U.K to contain rapping as well!).

While the band did get a big break thanks to Starr, it also turned out that Starr was meddling with their finances. Meaning that after a hugely successful nation-wide tour, the band each received a pay-check worth the princely sum of $1.87 for their efforts. The band parted ways with Starr and signed a record deal with MCA Records, leading to their commercial peak with their self-titled second album and its singles “Cool It Now” and “Mr. Telephone Man”. Ever since then, the band have remained a huge influence on modern R&B, as their hip-hop inflected chart pop paved the way for New Jack Swing acts like Boyz 2 Men. They're a band whose influence can be felt on the pop charts to this very day, and they remain an unmissable live act to boot. For that, they come highly recommended.

Live reviews

NEW EDITION (Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny) performed like they were in their 20's (AMAZING!). I was dancing the whole time and did not sit down once. It was the best concert I have been too in a very long time. I was singing along to every song (singles from Bobby, Ralph, Johnny, BBD and New Edition). You have to go see them -- I would go again... it's worth every penny! I love them because..."EVERY LITTLE STEP" I took made me realized that, I am "STILL IN LOVE" with them because they are "DOPE!" and they know how to "RUB YOU THE RIGHT WAY"; they are not "STONE COLD GENTLEMAN"! AWESOME CONCERT!

New Edition knows how to put on a show! No matter which one is your favorite, they each have their time to shine. They interact with the crowd and make you feel like you are the only one in attendance. Once you'be experienced a New Edition concert you will be hooked and want to see them again & again & again! Their shows are definitely worth every penny. They NEVER disappoint!

Man this show was great! Them boys from Boston and one from D.C. had us older folks groovin' and the balcony rocking....literally! It was like a NE mixtape. They came out together, then split off into singles and group, the back together again. It was a journey thru time as they started with 5, went to 4, then back to 5, and finally to all 6!!! #NE4Life #all6

The new edition concert was excellent . It had been 25 years since I saw them first, this show was stunning . Their presentation was for the fans. The men are in great shape with exception of BB, but he kept up. I will see them again when they are in the city. The venue was great, the DJ during intermission was kicking. Love, love.

The New Edition 30-City “Legacy Tour” Brings Back A New Jack Swing Extravaganza With Keith Sweat, Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall And Damion Hall - The Original Members Of Guy - And Tank To Little Caesars Arena Saturday, March 25

(DETROIT – December 12, 2022) – Iconic Grammy®-nominated, multi-platinum-selling R&B supergroup New Edition closed out 2022 with the highly successful “The Culture Tour,” nominated as one of the Top R&B Tours in the country by Pollstar. Selling out arenas across the country, the icons and The Black Promoters Collective (BPC) are happy to announce the 30-city “Legacy Tour” with a must-see lineup that includes a New Jack Swing reunion with Keith Sweat and the original members of Guy (Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, and Damion Hall) and Tank will visit Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday, December 16 at 10 a.m. at 313Presents.com , blackpromoterscollective.com and Ticketmaster.com . Before offering to the general public, “Legacy Tour” tickets go on presale to American Express® Card Members beginning Wednesday, December 14 at 10 am local time through Thursday, December 15 at 11:59 pm local time.

“Few recording artists can attest to a superior 40-year career that stands the test of time, but New Edition can. When we partnered with NE for “The Culture Tour,” although I knew it would be stellar, their show exceeded my expectations; the guys were nothing short of miraculous. We are excited about partnering with New Edition to further the legacy of the foundation they have already laid,” states BPC CEO Gary Guidry.

New Edition hit the scene in 1983 with their iconic #1 debut album Candy Girl disrupting the music industry 40 years ago. That same year, the album’s title cut knocked Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” out of the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. The group has gone on to win many awards, including BET’s “Lifetime Achievement” awards, and has one of the most highly watched biopics in music history, the 3-part BET series: The New Edition Story, which attracted more than 29 million viewers. Comprised of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill, New Edition has remained one of the most influential R&B groups in the world for close to four decades. With a vast catalog, New Edition is ready to perform a host of new hits that weren’t performed in 2022’s “The Culture Tour,” giving their fans a whole new experience to tuck in their memory book.

Keith Sweat entered the charts with his 3X platinum debut solo album, Make It Last Forever, in 1987, giving the world its first New Jack Swing Billboard Hot 100 hit, “I Want Her.” The song, produced by Teddy Riley and Sweat, became the most successful R&B song in 1988 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart. In 1997, Sweat formed the group LSG (Levert, Sweat, and Gill – Johnny Gill of New Edition), whose debut album, Levert.Sweat.Gill sold double platinum and produced the hit song “My Body,” which became a platinum single, spending seven weeks at #1 on the charts. In addition to touring and making new music, Sweat currently has the #1 nationally syndicated R&B evening radio show called The Sweat Hotel with Keith Sweat, reaching more than 50 markets across the country.

Teddy Riley ushered in a new musical genre called New Jack Swing, which included the formation of his group Guy with Aaron Hall and Damion Hall in 1987. The group’s first album, the self-titled masterpiece, quickly spawned the Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Like,” which, along with four other hit singles such as “Groove Me” and “Teddy’s Jam,” helped to propel the debut album to double platinum status. The group disbanded after their second album, The Future, citing the stresses of the tragic loss of their former manager. However, Teddy Riley went on to produce for the likes of Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. In addition, he was instrumental in the rise of Bobby Brown’s solo career, creating the megahit “My Prerogative,” which Complex magazine says is the #1 New Jack Swing song of all time. The “Legacy Tour” will be the first time the group has come together to tour in more than 15 years.

New edition’s ‘legacy tour’ and the assorted look of longevity.

It's quite impossible to age out of R&B and New Edition explains why.

Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, and Ricky Bell of New Edition perform during Legacy Tour

The words “legacy” and “legend” get tossed around often in R&B. What defines a legend? How soon can someone be qualified as such? What does a legacy truly consist of? “ King of R&B ” debate aside—a title Usher has rightfully claimed —icons such as Bobby Brown , Teddy Riley , and Babyface all helped to lay the foundation for the “Superstar” crooner and his peers to thrive.

Pharrell Builds His Life Story With Legos In 'Piece By Piece' Trailer

During the tour’s Los Angeles stop, the audience was filled with the originators of the term, “grown folks’ business.” But the “younger cats” they birthed and raised were also scattered throughout the arena, creating a welcomed balance of the old and new school. Collectively, it was audibly and visibly made known that they were ready to gyrate down memory lane to the soundtrack of the good ol’ days—and did.

Within the four-hour show (which also broke the stigma of starting perpetually late), the maturation of legacy was personified. Though each act ranged in age from their late 40s, to mid-late 50s, and early 60s, don’t think that slowed down or stopped the show.

Tank, 47, still wholly embraces his mold as a sex symbol. “Y’all some nasty mothaf**kers,” he joked in-between the roars of screaming fans during “F**ckin’ Wit Me” and “ Slow .” By the time he rounded out his set with “Please Don’t Go” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” he was shirtless in a pair of black slacks, pleading in falsetto.

Aaron Hall, 58, was shirtless underneath his white leather jacket. His brother, Damion, who is four years his junior, didn’t take off his shirt until later in the set. It felt as though the pioneers of New Jack Swing wanted to relive their glory days , but not in a corny way.

Though Gen Z may scoff at these middle-aged men performing half-naked, those who grew up ahead of and alongside the trio basked in fond memories of all-nighters, house parties, and first loves. Coincidentally, Guy has TikTok to thank for its help in connecting them with the younger generation; there was a resurgence of their 1988 hit, “I Like,” on the social media platform.

On the more sensual side of that era, Keith Sweat’s hour-long set was an ode to the mystique of R&B . As the speakers blared, “I step on stage/girls scream like I’m Keith,” from Craig Mack’s “Flava In Ya Ear (Remix),” he emerged in a floor-length leather trench coat. Ridding himself of the overbearing layer, Sweat, 61, revealed a fitted black oxford shirt and matching slacks. He was the epitome of a man who has aged like fine wine and isn’t afraid to show he still “got it.”

The Harlem native took his moment to pay homage to his peers and address some misconceptions. “I ain’t doing no lip syncing. I don’t do that s**t,” he said at one point. Later adding, “I don’t do that opening act s**t for nobody […] but if I was gonna open up for anybody, it would be New Edition.” He, then, invited some special guests back to the stage.

Sweat’s closing assortment consisted of some R&B’s sexiest tunes: ”Make It Last Forever,” “Nobody,” and “Get Up On It.” This was arguably the highlight of his set, simply because of how he bridged the generational gap. Riley’s goddaughter, Maya Milan , sang the parts reserved for Jacci McGhee, Athena Cage, and Kut Klose as Sweat’s sole female supporting vocalist.

Moments later, the unexpected happened. Arsenio Hall gave New Edition the greatest introduction of all time. “They were on my show every motherf**king night,” the comedian, 67, began. In the voice of Reverend Brown, one of his Coming To America characters, Hall joked, “And if loving them is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.”

The former late night talk show host continued, “When we first heard ‘ Can You Stand The Rain ,’ what people didn’t know was rain can be spelled another way: r-e-i-g-n, which is to reign over. These gentlemen have reigned over the music business for 40 years. This is their anniversary here with you […] They are simply the best. If I forget somebody, y’all pull my coattail—Ronnie, Ricky, Mike, Bobby, Ralph, Johnny. Ladies and gentlemen, this is New Edition.”

A video montage of their four-decade career appeared on the main jumbotron featuring performance highlights, award wins, and snippets from their critically-acclaimed biopic . Then it was time for the main event. Despite an indirect refusal to perform their 2005 hit, “Hot 2 Nite,” the men kept their promise to fans and “injected some NE classics that [they] did not previously perform on The Culture Tour.”

Case in point: he performed “My Prerogative,” but sat out on “If It Isn’t Love.” The Don’t Be Cruel star later returned for a solid run with “Mr. Telephone Man,” “Cool It Now,” “I’m Still In Love With You,” “Is This The End?,” and “Candy Girl.” The way the rest of New Edition supported Brown stood out tremendously. The former “ Bad Boy of R&B ” didn’t have to fall in line with every two-step. At one point, DeVoe and Bivins even helped him with an onstage costume adjustment in-between “Every Little Step” and “Poison.” Plus, Brown’s mic was on the entire night, as were the others, and he delivered vocally.

So what defines a legend or a legacy?

First things first, take retirement , individually and collectively, off the table. When they said “for life,” New Edition meant it. When it comes to longevity, they credit theirs to an “unbreakable bond,” saying it was “born from a mutual love for music and each other.” In spite of the good, bad, and otherwise over these past 40 years, the group explained, “All of our personal and professional ups and downs have only served to make us stronger as men. Therefore, we are even stronger together.”

As far as defining legacy and being legends at this stage in their career, New Edition simply praised their fans. “[It’s been] 40 years of blood, sweat, and sacrifice culminating in a love-affair with our fans,” said the group. “With every synchronized, sharp, and choreographed dance routine, we celebrate our faithful NE4Lifers. For we are nothing without you.” The feeling is mutual.

NEW EDITION hit the scene in 1983 with their iconic #1 debut album Candy Girl disrupting the music industry forty years ago. That same year, the album's title cut knocked Michael Jackson's "Beat It" out of the #1 spot on the Billboard "Hot Black Singles" chart.

KEITH SWEAT entered the charts with his 3X platinum debut solo album, Make It Last Forever , in 1987, giving the world its first New Jack Swing Billboard "Hot 100" hit, "I Want Her. " The song, produced by Teddy Riley and Sweat, became the most successful R&B song in 1988 on the Billboard "Hot R&B Songs" chart. In 1997, Sweat formed the group LSG (Levert, Sweat, and Gill - Johnny Gill of New Edition), whose debut album, Levert.Sweat.Gill sold double platinum and produced the hit song " My Body ," which became a platinum single, spending seven weeks at #1 on the charts. In addition to touring and making new music, Sweat currently has the #1 nationally syndicated R&B evening radio show called "The Sweat Hotel with Keith Sweat," reaching more than fifty markets across the country.

Teddy Riley ushered in a new musical genre called New Jack Swing , which included the formation of his group GUY with Aaron Hall and Damion Hall in 1987. The group's first album, the self-titled masterpiece, quickly spawned the Billboard "Hot 100" hit " I Like, " which, along with four other hit singles such as " Groove Me " and " Teddy's Jam ," helped to propel the debut album to double platinum status. The group disbanded after their second album, The Future , citing the stresses of the tragic loss of their former manager. However, Teddy Riley went on to produce for the likes of Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. In addition, he was instrumental in the rise of Bobby Brown's solo career, creating the megahit " My Prerogative ," which Complex magazine says is the #1 New Jack Swing song of all time. The “ Legacy Tour ” will be the first time the group has come together to tour in more than fifteen years.

Six reasons Edmonton Oilers fans can hope for victory in the Stanley Cup Final

May 27, 2024; Edmonton, Alberta, CAN; The Edmonton Oilers celebrate a goal scored by forward Connor McDavid (97) during the first period against the Dallas Stars in game three of the Western Conference Final of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Rogers Place. The Athletic has live coverage of the Stanley Cup Final Game 1 matchup of Panthers vs. Oilers

It was a tough week for Edmonton Oilers fans. After waiting 18 years for a return to the Stanley Cup Final, the wait between games was excruciating.

As well, based on media predictions, the Florida Panthers are the overwhelming choice to win it all.

There’s a reason they play the games even after the media announces their assumed winner.

Here are six things for Oilers fans that should offer hope for this series.

Connor McDavid

In the spring of 1970, just before the final against the Boston Bruins , St. Louis Blues coach Scotty Bowman told the media the team was spending plenty of time on the ice finding ways to contain Bobby Orr. The only problem, according to Bowman, was no one could duplicate Orr’s brilliance in practice.

The Blues lost in four straight.

Much of the talk leading up to the final involves the Panthers’ ability to shut down Connor McDavid.

Easier said than done.

Panthers brilliant two-way centre Aleksander Barkov is considered the best two-way pivot in the game and many believe he will suppress offence against Edmonton’s big line. The two men faced each other just once during the regular season, McDavid’s line enjoying a 1-0 goal advantage and a 54 percent expected goal share.

Keeping McDavid off the scoresheet in a long series is a hockey Everest.

The goaltending matchup

The Panthers have a famous stopper in Sergei Bobrovsky . He’s a veteran with several deep playoff runs over the years.

Young Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner ’s resume pales in comparison, despite the fact he has gained plenty of postseason experience over the last two seasons.

Most give a heavy edge to Florida, as Bobrovsky’s save percentage this spring in all game states (.908) is substantially better than Skinner’s (.897) through three rounds.

The case for Skinner surrounds his improvement during these playoffs. When facing the Los Angeles Kings , his save percentage (.897) was a major story. During the series against the Vancouver Canucks , he had real wobble (.833 save percentage) and didn’t start two games.

Against the Dallas Stars in the conference final, his save percentage was .922 in all strengths.

Skinner is playing his best right now. A hot goaltender can carry a team; we saw it last year with Adin Hill of the Vegas Golden Knights .

Five-on-five outscoring

Much has been made about the Panthers’ impressive five-on-five outscoring, but the numbers show the Oilers are equally effective.

During the regular season, Florida posted a 57 percent goal share and a 54 percent expected goal share. Not only were the Panthers good, but a little lucky too, exceeding what would have been an expected goals-for percentage.

The Oilers enjoyed a 56 percent goal share and a 57 percent expected goal share.

No team can claim superiority, although the issue was framed as being in Florida’s favour leading up to the start of the series.

Physicality

One of the items mentioned this week surrounding the final involved Florida’s physical play.

The Panthers have two tough forwards who play prime minutes in Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett . Both men averaged more than a penalty minute per game during the regular season, that’s a rare item in the modern NHL .

Toughness can be measured in all manner of ways; expecting this edition of the Oilers to be intimidated by the Panthers would be a mistake.

McDavid and fellow impact centre Leon Draisaitl can dish it out and take it. This is a non-issue for both teams.

Knoblauch’s vision

One of the interesting things about Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch is his philosophy about matchups.

He eschews hard matches most of the time, preferring to manage his bench with optimal deployment.

Knoblauch uses his roster (10 forwards over 10 minutes per game at five-on-five during the playoffs) and isn’t afraid to sit feature players.

Among the men who have been rested this spring are Skinner, defenceman Vincent Desharnais and forwards Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod .

Competition is part of this team’s roster makeup, and that has led to a larger-than-expected playing roster, and a fresher group late into the playoff spring.

Panthers won’t be denied

A popular discussion point this week suggests that Florida has the edge due to losing in the final one year ago.

If that was true, the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers would have dominated the expansion era.

The circumstances that led to the Stanley Cup in 2023 were unique, as is the case this season. For example, Laurent Brossoit ’s injury that led to Hill’s brilliance was a major event in the Golden Knights’ run to a championship.

If Brossoit doesn’t get hurt, chances are it’s the Oilers who move on. That didn’t happen, and any thought that Florida has the edge because of last year’s final is ridiculous.

There’s no momentum minute to minute, let alone year over year.

Bottom line

This is going to be a close, hard-fought series.

You will remember it for a lifetime. Best to ignore those who create myths out of the blue.

The expected goal share from the regular season suggests the difference between these two teams is minute.

McDavid and Draisaitl are easily the best 1-2 combination in the NHL. That could be the difference.

As fans and observers, we need to make sense of what is before us and that’s a difficult thing to do. Math gives us the framework for Oilers-Panthers, but math is boring.

Best to create a storyline that involves the inevitably of another team from the American Southeast winning it all.

It’s surprising that so many experts have Florida winning the series based on how close these teams appear to be.

No one knows, beyond that it’s close.

Hold on. Enjoy the ride, and be thankful there are no rats allowed in Alberta.
