BIRDSVILLE TO OORAMINNA (FINKE DESERT RACE TOUR)

Ofi Honda Crf450l

Day 1: Birdsville to Erabena Track

After a big Birdsville breakfast, we head out west to meet the Unimog for morning tea.

We continue our adventure on the QAA Line. With some challenging tracks and dunes, we will stop for lunch at Poeppel Corner, the corner of state boundaries in Australia, where Queensland meets South Australia and the Northern Territory.

We continue along some great tracks passing Approdinna Attora Knolls. The rare gypsum outcrops were once the highest dune crests in the area and are of great Aboriginal and scientific importance. Turning onto the WAA line heading west then finally making our way down the Erabena Track for camp.

Day 2: Erabena Track to Mokari Airstrip

It’s an early start as the Unimog continues along the Rig Road for the abandoned Mokari Airstrip. We explore more of the Erabena Track and the Erabena 1 abandoned oil well. We then head west along the French Line finally reuniting with the Unimog at camp for dinner.

Day 3: Mokari Airstrip to Mount Dare Hotel

Today we leave behind the 1100 sand dunes and enjoy an easy ride to Purnie Bore for morning tea.

We then continue to the famous Dalhousie Hot Springs, a collection of over 60 natural artesian springs, for a dip and some lunch before setting off to Mount Dare riding along the old Ghan Railway.

Day 4: Mount Dare to Ooraminna Station… Then into scrutineering that night

Leaving Mount Dare, we ride along the Finke Track back to Alice Springs. It’s a challenging track and the whoops are relentless. You have the option of riding on the main gravel road if the track proves too difficult.

Arriving in Alice Springs we stop by our motel, The Diplomat and head straight down to the scrutineering area to check out all the competitors in the 2014 Finke Desert Race. It’s a great evening!

Day 5: Ooraminna to Prolouge

Today we jump back on our CRF450L’s and head out to watch the competitors fight for the best starting position in the race, so they’re out of the dust.

Mid-afternoon sees as heading back down the track towards Finke for camp, meeting up with other spectators and fans at the first stop.

Day 6: Camp at Ooraminna ride to track every day

Starting the day with a big breakfast we are back on the bikes. Today we follow the race and in certain areas will watch from the side of the track as the competitors make the blast down to Finke for the overnight camp.

We get permission to cross the track further south between the buggies and bikes as we make our own way south watching the competitors. Along the way we come across teams and crews doing maintenance who have the most fascinating tales to tell. Even the odd retired race winner is floating around.

Day 7: Camp Ooraminna with big farewell dinner at the homestead

We are once again blown away as we see the commitment and determination from the top level competitors across the whoops which just never seem to let up. Today we move around again from our camp watching buggies and bikes from flat in top gear sections to the big sandy dunes.

It’s a great few day’s moving around from our base at Ooraminna watching the racing. Finally we arrive back our camp and enjoy a Ooraminna Homestead meal and reminisce about the trip. Plenty of belly laughs and tall stories are on the menu.

The iconic Finke Desert Race is an off-road, multi terrain two day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community. The race is held each year on the King’s Birthday long weekend in June.

The race is the main feature in the off road racing calendar and the King of the Desert Trophy is arguably the most sought after prize, although...just getting there and back is a victory.

The premier racing event attracts entrants from all over Australia and the world, including world-class Australian off-road and enduro motorcycle racer, Toby Price (first Australian to win the Dakar Rally) and who won the race six times.

This unique outback event is said to be one of the most difficult off-road races in the world through remote terrain of red dirt, sand and spinifex. For 3 days, 650 bikes & quads and 165 buggies & trophy trucks compete annually at this one of a kind race.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is Australia's ultimate desert race.

Tour Director

Cruise on Sydney Harbour

Take a cruise on the Sydney Harbour for a first-row encounter with two of Australia's most iconic landmarks. Float under the majestic Harbour Bridge and marvel at the dynamic architecture of the Opera House. The best of the city swooped up in a gentle sail.

View spectacular outback sunsets at Uluru

With immense cultural significance and astonishing natural beauty, the sandstone monolith of Uluru is a highlight of any Australia vacation. Climb onto the back of a camel and navigate a portion of the rock's 10-kilometer circumference, before toasting the striking sunset with a glass of bubbles.

Discover Melbourne's eclectic street art

Australia's culture capital is a maze of narrow wine bars, Asian food markets and boutique-lined alleyways. Amidst it all, uncover colorful murals, brazen political statements and the work of acclaimed international artists. From AC/DC Lane to Centre Place, Melbourne will gift you a banquet of street art to appreciate.

Discover the secrets of ancient Aboriginal culture

Hear the Dreamtime stories of Australia's original landowners and begin to understand their 50,000-year connection with the land down under. Known as the world's oldest living civilization, the culture of the Aboriginal people whispers secrets of a time most can scarcely comprehend. Discover their rich heritage in the northern city of Darwin.

Travel to the Penguin Parade on the Phillip Island

It's no secret that Australians love to surf, but when a flapping penguin waddles out of the ocean, even locals squeal with joy. Venture to the southern coastline of Victoria to watch this nightly spectacle, as the beloved birds return from a busy day of fishing.

Our top 5 things to do in Australia

Take a trip to Australia with Trafalgar and we'll reveal the best these sunburnt lands have to offer. From the sparkling Sydney Harbour to the toddling penguin parade of Victoria, these are just some of the remarkable moments that re waiting for you.

Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney

Dive into a world of Maritime archaeology, migration and marine creatures at Sydney's Australian National Maritime Museum. With a 3D cinema, a prime location of Darling Harbour and numerous rotating exhibitions, this museum is one of the most interesting marine-themed things to do in Australia.

ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), Melbourne

The moving image unfurls in its many forms at Melbourne's ACMI museum. Peel back layers of digital culture with a highlight reel featuring the country's infatuation with film, TV and videogames. Spend an entire day on Flinders Street to uncover many of the city's best museums.

Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney

Take a journey into Australia's artistic culture from English settlement to the present day in the gallery often proclaimed the most important in the country. Found in a grand gothic building featuring eight sunlit halls, a day at the Art Gallery of New South Wales will connect you deeply to this part of the world.

Best museums in Australia

With a population of just 25 million and a formed history dating back just 120-years, it's easy to be surprised by the depth of culture found in Australia. With Trafalgar, you'll peel back the layers of this country by visiting these museums and many more.

A yeast-based spread that makes many travelers squirm, trying Vegemite is a must when you visit Australia. Though locals like to experiment with the ways they use this vitamin-rich spread, consume it on a piece of toasted bread atop plenty of butter for the most typical Vegemite experience.

An irresistible chocolate biscuit that is part of Australia's cultural fabric; eat one Tim Tam and you are likely to finish the entire packet. Available at any convenience store or supermarket around the country, pick up many trays to take home and share with friends.

Australian sporting events are scarcely complete until you consume a meat pie. A baked pastry dish available in countless modern variations, the traditional meat pie is filled with minced gravy and slathered in tomato sauce.

Best food in Australia

Though Australian food is typically recipes adopted from the rest of the globe, there are a few iconic staples not to miss. From the art of spreading Vegemite to the traditions of the meat pie, our Australia trips will guide you through the very best this country has to offer.

What to pack for Australia

People packing for a tour

An empty suitcase

Tim Tams aren't easy to locate beyond the skirts of Australia. Pack an empty suitcase so you can return home with supplies and sweet souvenirs for family and friends.

Australian currency

There's no leniency in Australia when it comes to paying in foreign currencies. Pack Australian dollars in cash to avoid the fees of teller machines and currency convertors.

Australia is known for giant spiders and snapping crocodiles. But it's more likely to be tiny flying insects that get in your way. Pack bug spray to keep mosquitos at arm's length.

Goggles and a snorkel

Home to the world's most highly regarded reef, packing goggles and a snorkel will mean you can explore Australia's underwater world until your heart is content.

Sun protection

Trips to Australia typically involve a lot of time in the sunshine. Pack a wide brim hat and sunscreen to stay protected from the country's notoriously harsh rays.

Fin Greenall is an enthusiast. Rather more so than you might expect, in fact, from someone with more than ten albums under their belt.

This is someone who's lived a life-and-a-half of hard graft and hard gigging in electronic, acoustic and even pop music already - that enthusiasm bubbles like someone half his age discovering the buzz of musical and cultural engagement for the first time.

Starting his musical life as an electronic producer and DJ, Fink’s first album Fresh Produce emerged in 2000 on the Ninja Tune label. After switching to guitar and mastering the craft of songwriting, including an early collaboration with fledgling singer Amy Winehouse, Fink became a band in 2006 with the addition of Tim Thornton on drums and Guy Whittaker on bass.

Greenall recorded, engineered and produced the trio’s first album Biscuits for Breakfast in his Brighton loft. Distance and Time followed in 2007, produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb, U2), leading to numerous film and advertisement placements as well as extensive worldwide tours. Perfect Darkness (2011), produced by Billy Bush (Beck, Garbage), led to Fink’s invitation to perform with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. This concert was released as a live album in 2013, and the version of "Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us" from the record was used by Ava DuVernay in her Oscar nominated film Selma. In the same year, Justin Vernon & Colin Stetson teamed up to remix “Warm Shadow,” which was prominently featured in AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The studio album Hard Believer released in 2014, courtesy of Fink’s Ninja Tune sub-label R’COUP’D, included the hit "Looking Too Closely" which has over 30 licenses to TV and film, and over 105 million plays on Spotify. 2017 marked the beginning of Fink’s collaboration with Flood (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Warpaint, U2) as a producer and mentor, culminating in the release of both the blues side project Fink’s Sunday Night Blues Club, Vol.1, and the full-band albums Resurgam (2017) and Bloom Innocent (2019). Fink was now a stalwart of the indie scene, with a worldwide fanbase whose loyalty is unparalleled.

Returning in 2024 with the single “What Would You Call Yourself”, Greenall, together with his longtime collaborators, will release Beauty In Your Wake on 5 July, an album very much seen as a creative rebirth. It is the first record to be co-produced and recorded by Sam Okell at his new Zennor Sounds studio (Sam won a Grammy for his role in remastering the entire Beatles catalogue at Abbey Rd). After a smattering of festivals, Fink’s full European tour begins in August 2024.

Live reviews

Great concert of Fink in Madrid on November the 5th, 2017. The Barcelo theater completed its capacity. There was a very good atmosphere, with a very varied audience in age and style. The concert took a while to begin, with an introductory video about the music recording history that lasted too long. There were some whistles from the public, impatient to hear Fink and his band. Finally, Fink trio accompanied with two more musicians came on stage between ovations. A good staging with an excellent game of lighting and smoke on the stage that provided the right intimate atmosphere for Fink's hypnotic music. The five musicians played two batteries, 12 guitars and a keyboard throughout the concert to review the classic themes of Fink in addition to presenting their latest songs. The personal voice of Fin Greenall is framed and highlighted by these excellent musicians. The band's drummer Tim Thornton is especially notable for its versatility and musical abilities, and bass Guy Whittaker displays lots of mastery and sympathy. All have a great stage presence and personality. The audience was enthusiastic, chanting and accompanying songs with slaps. The band looked very comfortable on stage, really enjoying the good atmosphere of the concert. There were two encores and the audience was very satisfied. In one of his interventions, all in English, Fink promised to return to Madrid.

Being part of a Fink’ gig is not simply watching some guys playing music. It’s an experience far beyond that.

With just a Spanish guitar and his terrific voice, Fin Greenall will take you on a musical journey that goes from dim bluesy atmospheres to heart-warming acoustic tunes; this with the enthralling company of a talented drummer (Guy Whittaker) and bassist (Tim Thornton).

As for me, Fink’s concert was a rollercoaster of emotions: I woke up joyful with Biscuits for breakfast, perceived an ancestral strength through Fear Is Like Fire, discovered something new about myself with Make It Good, felt funky with the fresh Hard Believer, and suddenly it was over with the melancholic notes of Warm Shadow. Nevertheless, there is no need to worry because Nothing Is Ever Finished. As Greenall’s musical career that began when his unique voice and the technical ability of his friends Guy and Tim convinced the electronic-oriented Ninja Tune label to start the Indie-Rock project that started it all.

Fink is now a re-newed band that just released their 6th Album, Hard Believer and they are ready to present it to the world with a full summer schedule, so don’t miss this opportunity to see them live.

Cornish singer/songwriter Fin Greenall better known by his stage name Fink can boast to having tried a huge array of genres before settling on his preferred style. Over his career that now spans over fifteen years Fink has dabbled in blues, dub, electro, folk and indie. His 2006 album 'Biscuits For Breakfast' saw him pitch a flag in the ground of the indie territory and since then has allowed Fink to refer to the collective touring trio of himself along with Tim Thornton and Guy Whittaker.

The group has a cult like following for their sound and the albums have taken them around the world many times. The stage show still remains purposefully stripped back, featuring the three musicians jamming to the indie/folk stylings of 'Yesterday Was Hard on All of Us'. The lyrical content appears to have resonated with the audience who sing back choruses in force much to the surprise and bemusement of Fin himself. The moderately successful 'This Is The Thing' receives a small amount of whoops from the crowd yet it is the closer of 'Berlin Sunrise' that really blows the crowd away and receives a round of applause that could lift the roof straight off.

It was the first time that I listened and watched Fink live on stage.

On purpose I went to Amsterdam and watched them live. It was an incredible experience.

Acoustically, the venue was superb as well. Obviously the sound engineer knew what he was doing. The sound was perfect.

The gates opened at 6:30 p.m. and it was a good idea waiting at the door so that we could get the front seats. At 8:00 p.m. Sophie Hunger (Swiss singer songwriter living in Berlin) was on stage because she was the support musician for Fink. Sophie Hunger and her drum player friend was just fantastic on their 40 minutes performance. Her guitar playing technique, lyrics, her voice, the overall sound was stunning. I wish this performance lasted longer.

I haven't seen the electric guitar, violin and keyboard player (just one guy playing all) before playing with Fink. He was a real Swiss Knife. He added a certain value to the band. Great musician...

Stage lighting design, acoustics and sound were all spotless.

Congratulations to all Fink members, AFAS Live as the venue, and all the staff for creating such a beauty.

This is my first review on this website despite having been to many shows recently. I feel the need to write this because seeing Fink left such an incredible impression on me that I just have to share this with others.

I was expecting Fink to be good as I enjoyed listening Fin's music, especially the acoustic guitar pieces. But this live show was just... incredible. It went above and beyond all of my expectations. To me, there are certain musicians who can create such an immersive experience with their live shows that they can simply transport you to a different dimension. They create an almost otherwordly atmosphere in which you can lose yourself in if you really allow yourself to.

I know the above sounds really trippy but this is the only way I can begin to describe this experience. Other artists who have created a similar atmosphere for me have been Eddie Vedder, Glen Hansard, Mark Lanegan, U2 and Rodrigo & Gabriela.

I basically can't recommend going to a live Fink show enough. This was my first one and I will now try to see him every chance I get. This was pure magic.

Incredible! Simply incredible! I saw both California shows this weekend, both were stellar. I've been closely following this band for a few years I had yet to see them until now. If you're familiar with fink you will know how clean and crisp they are, live is even more so. These guys are razor sharp! The selfish part of me wants them to keep playing the smaller venues, but these guys deserve to be heard by way more folks than can fit in any of these.

The bottom line is if you enjoy live music you need to do yourself a favor and check these guys out. If you need a preview check out the live studio series 2 Meter Sessies or the current album cuts in the KCRW studios in LA. Both series can be found on Youtube.

What an Awesome show! Fin played a really good mix of old-new material and all by himself on an acoustic and I can’t believe how close to him we were in the City Winery Venue and the Sound quality is just amazing in that room! Even the bathrooms sound really good!

I have to say I would want to see anyone of interest in this place just an amazing venue and Fink at the helm it was just an amazing night!

And then Fin came out and met everyone who stayed, signed autographs and took the time to talk with everyone what great musician ,hope he does it again soon!

The Jazz Cafe (Camden) was the perfect venue to see this band; an intimate small space with a great view. As to the performance, Fink were spectacular on all levels. Blues with an edge, Finn did say what was a white man from Cornwall doing singing the blues? Well, he pulled it off in his own unique stlye. The band were faultless, great rythmn and musicianship, jamming through a few songs and above all looking as though they were enjoying every moment. What a treat!

jill-griffin’s profile image

Their show in Vienna was simply great! However I didn't quite get the 'support' act - a video showing you through music history, I suppose. To be fair, I didn't really pay attention, as I was talking to my friends. As soon as the actual show started though, all eyes were on the band. The lead singer's voice accompanied by intense guitar tunes and base drums filled the whole room. One song better than the last they really just delivered!

Fink, keep going!

Brilliant concert.

A cd can never capture the feeling of being there, being in the moment.

Excellent musicians, all of them, especially the drummer and the bass player.

"Fink himself" is a great singer and performer, with tenderness and roughness in his voice and guitarplaying.

I'm happy to have been there!

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting P!NK Summer Carnival 2024

Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

P!NK will be bringing her SUMMER CARNIVAL tour to Australia in February 2024. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show To Perform Huntington Concert

H UNTINGTON, NY — The Australian Pink Floyd Show is set to return to Huntington in June, and its bringing along Pink Floyd's greatest hits.

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. June 27 at The Paramount. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here .

The Australian Pink Floyd Show has been based out of the United Kingdom since 1993 and features members from various countries.

Lead singer Chris Barnes said the show this year is Pink Floyd's greatest hits after the band covered "The Dark Side of the Moon" last year . Songs from 1967 through 1994 will be played, including lots of numbers from the band's big four albums: "Animals," "The Dark Side of the Moon," "The Wall," and "Wish You Were Here."

Barnes said he hopes Long Islanders had a good time at last year's Huntington show , but this year is a different set list.

"Obviously we have songs we have to play every year," Barnes told Patch. "Come out and have another great night with us ... We’re actually playing a song on this tour that the band has never played in its entire existence, which has been going down really, really well. When people realize what the song is when the introduction starts, it gets a really good reaction. It’s nice to throw that in, as well, for us and the crowd."

Barnes said not every Pink Floyd fan got to see the band live when they were touring.

"Come out and experience what is essentially what Pink Floyd would have given you," Barnes told younger fans. "The circle screen, the videos, there’s a big light show, there are lasers, inflatables. It’s a full-on multi-sensory experience, really."

Barnes said it's nice to see different generations come to The Australian Pink Floyd Show concerts.

"There are people who saw Floyd back in the day," he said. "Maybe their kids will come. And also grandkids. We have people from 8 through 80; we literally do. It’s a very mixed crowd, which is great to see so many young people come to see the band."

Barnes said the band members are Pink Floyd fans who want to honor the music. The singer recalls last year's Huntington show being a "really good crowd and a really good gig."

"It’s great that people come to see it, as Pink Floyd’s music will live on forever," he said. "It’s great to be playing this music to people who love to hear it. I hope you come to the show, and we’ll have a great night, like last time."

The Australian Pink Floyd Show formed in 1988. The band strives to stay true to the vision and sound of the band it was inspired by.

In 2025, the band's show will cover "Wish You Were Here" in recognition of the album's 50th anniversary.

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour once asked The Australian Pink Floyd Show to perform at his 50th birthday party. Various members of Pink Floyd have joined the tribute band onstage.

ICYMI: J.Lo's cancelled tour, Thom Yorke is coming to Australia and what really went down on The Apprentice

J.Lo points to the crowd as she sings with wind blowing her hair back from her face, wearing a bedazzled sheer outfit.

It's that time again!

Here's what you may have missed in entertainment news over the weekend.

  • J.Lo cancelled her entire tour to 'spend time with family'???
  • An ex-Apprentice producer did a tell-all on his time working with Trump
  • Thom Yorke is coming to Australia and this is the Eras Tour for Radiohead fans
  • Steve Miller is very happy Eminem interpolated Abracadabra in Houdini
  • Adele had a go at an audience member she thought yelled "Pride sucks"

J.Lo says This Is Me…Never, cancels US arena tour

Jennifer Lopez is having a nightmare of a year. First, she was forced to spend $US20 million ($30 million) of her own cash to make her quasi-autobiographical film that critics rushed to call " bonkers " and a " bizzaro trainwreck ", then everyone made fun of her suspiciously vague bodega order (ham and cheese on a roll, orange drink — IYKYK — and a small bag of chips), and now she's had to go and cancel her entire US arena tour!

The This Is Me…Live tour was slated for 30 dates, hitting massive arenas all around the US — but now they are no more.

The first signs of struggle appeared in April, when seven dates were quietly cancelled amid reports of struggling ticket sales. The tour was also rebranded from "This Is Me… Now" to "This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits" in an apparent attempt to broaden its appeal.

But despite the reports of lacklustre sales, team J.Lo told fans the cancellation was due to the star wanting to slow down a little.

"Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends," representatives told fans in an official newsletter.

The statement also included a short message from Lopez herself.

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…" she said.

But Jenny from the Block isn't the only established artist struggling to fill arenas. Indie stalwarts The Black Keys announced last week that they were cancelling their September US arena tour, promising to reschedule dates for a more "intimate experience for both fans and the band".

And fans of Wallows the pop-rock trio — fronted by 13 Reasons Why actor Dylan Minnette — are stressing out on social media that their faves will be doomed to the same fate, citing lots of cheap tickets still for sale.

Even the powerhouse team-up of Troye Sivan and Charli XCX doesn't seem to be enough to convince American audiences to head down to the arena.

Former Apprentice producer dishes on time with Trump as NDA expires

Donald Trump was already a household name when he ran for US president in 2016, and the reality TV show The Apprentice had a lot to do with that.

The show — which sees people compete for the chance to get a one-year starting contract to promote one of Trump's properties — ran for 15 seasons from 2004, with the man himself hosting 14 of them.

But a former producer on "the show that changed everything" has written a tell-all essay about what really went down behind the scenes of the show, now that his 20-year non-disclosure agreement has expired .

In the essay, Bill Pruitt writes that The Apprentice "elevated Donald J. Trump from sleazy New York tabloid hustler to respectable household name". While he was shown to demonstrate "impeccable business instincts and unparalleled wealth" on the program, in reality Pruitt says Trump had "barely survived multiple bankruptcies", his ramblings were carefully edited and he made comments that were "misogynistic as well as racist", most of which were caught on camera but not aired.

"By carefully misleading viewers about Trump — his wealth, his stature, his character, and his intent — the competition reality show set about an American fraud that would balloon beyond its creators' wildest imaginations," Pruitt writes.

Pruitt says when deciding between two finalists – Kwame Jackson and Bill Rancic – Trump said in a recorded conversation: "I mean, would America buy a n***** winning?" in reference to Jackson. Rancic won that season of the competition.

ABC News has contacted Trump's team for a response and is yet to hear back, but a spokesman for Trump's 2024 campaign issued this statement to Slate, which was published in the essay: "This is a completely fabricated and bullshit story that was already peddled in 2016."

In an MSNBC interview with the Reverend Al Sharpton, Jackson says the comments are "water off a duck's back" given Trump didn't make them to his face, which he says would have played out very differently.

But Jackson goes on to say the comments would have potentially swung the election had they come out in 2016, and therefore Pruitt is "a day late and a dollar short".

He told Rev Sharpton: "Trump has made it OK to be racist in America."

Thom Yorke is coming to Australia for the first time in 12 years

A musician who needs little introduction, Thom Yorke is best known as the creative, angel-voiced force out front of Radiohead — one of the most culturally significant and critically acclaimed bands of their generation. But he's never done a solo tour to Australia before, until now.

Yorke has announced a solo Australian tour, playing two dates each at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt through October and November. Find dates and ticket details here.

"I will be alone on stage trying a new kind of solo show thing, playing versions of songs from my recent and not so recent past," Yorke said in a statement.

It's his first show on our shores of any kind since Radiohead toured back in 2012.

This is welcome, if surprising, news for fans, given they were anticipating a visit from The Smile – Yorke's new band alongside Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, and drummer Tom Skinner.

What's in store? Expect Yorke to re-imagine material from Radiohead and The Smile, as well as his various solo and soundtrack projects — ranging from 2006 album The Eraser through to Confidenza, the score to the 2024 Italian drama of the same name.

Here's a possible taster: Yorke performing Radiohead track Bloom, the opening track from 2011's The King of Limbs, in solo piano mode.

Eminem's 'new' era gets kudos from a classic rock icon

Eminem has a new song out called 'Houdini', and there are a couple of striking things about it.

First, it's an unapologetic throwback to the rapper's big, early hits. It sounds like an updated version of his 2002 smart-arse anthem 'Without Me', and the video – which features guest spots from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Pete Davidson and Shane Gillis – also directly references that hit.

Second, its chorus is an interpolation of the Steve Miller Band's 1982 classic rock anthem 'Abracadabra'. And that song's writer couldn't be happier.

In a letter posted to Facebook over the weekend , Steve Miller gushed about Eminem's artistry and respect for those who came before him.

"You are one of those timeless originators building something new on a long musical legacy of original artists," Miller wrote.

"There aren't many artists who take the time or make the effort to stand up for themselves and credit and respect their influencers at the same time. Marshall Mathers you are an exception and on my short list of people who respect the art. To be included in your process feels good while I'm still singing and playing the music I love."

Without being too cynical, we reckon the esteemed Mr Miller might also be very much looking forward to his next royalty cheque.

Adele claps back at heckler, Katy Perry takes on Butker's speech

Adele caused a bit of a social media stir over the weekend.

On Saturday night, the first night of Pride Month in the US, an audience member at an Adele show in Las Vegas reportedly decided they needed to tell the singer their feelings about the longstanding celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride. It didn't go well.

In a fan-posted Instagram clip, Adele is seen barking back at an audience member who apparently yelled out "Pride sucks" while the singer was addressing the crowd at a show as part of her Las Vegas residency.

"Did you come to my f***ing show and just say 'Pride sucks'?" the singer snarls. "Are you f****ing stupid? Don't be so f***ing ridiculous. If you've got nothing nice to say, shut up, all right?"

Social media has applauded Adele's ferocious rebuke, with countless comments praising her allyship.

However, other videos and accounts from the night suggest the heckler actually yelled out "Work sucks", which seems a lot more on brand for an Adele audience and makes sense considering what Adele was talking about.

At least it's good to know she's willing to fight back against homophobia, even if this was a misunderstanding. And seeing Adele swear her head off is always entertaining.

In related news, fellow pop star Katy Perry celebrated the start of Pride Month by posting a doctored version of NFL player Harrison Butker's infamous commencement speech from last month.

"Fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays," Perry wrote on Instagram. "You can do anything, congratulations and happy pride."

The edit of the video makes Butker's message pretty different to the divisive comments he offered around LGBTQIA+ movements and women in the workforce when addressing the Benedictine College graduating class.

"I would venture to guess the women here today are going to lead successful careers in the world," he now says.

"I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand: how much happier someone can be supporting women, and not saying that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."
