For a couple in their early 30's who have never been on/driven a jet ski before this tour was a lot of fun! Our tour guide, Niko was very friendly and did a very good job making us feel comfortable throughout the tour. We stopped several times to view the different hotspots as Niko talked about their history. I'm very happy we chose to do this tour. The views of the clear turquoise waters and taking a short dip at the sandbar were my favorite part.

We had booked an All-day adventure but weather in the AM did not cooperate so we did the sunset snorkel dolphin and it was AMAZING! Small group due to iffy weather but sun came out (and down for a gorgeous sunset!). Saw dolphin family after only a short while and they came very close to boat. Water a bit choppy for snorkel but great location and saw a huge sea turtle, stingray, and tropical fish. Crew was attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend to families or adults flying solo!

The Sunset Dinner Cruise is everything you can ask for. We went to celebrate my Brother-in-Laws birthday and it was amazing. Captain Clay was fun and made sure everyone was comfy. Po was super helpful with bringing us drinks and making sure the Bday cake came out at the perfect time. The bar was great and the two bartenders Alex and Steve were on a mission to make sure everyone got there fill. They kept the drink rolling and they are FAST!!!! Make sure you upgrade for the full bar its $20 but its beyond worth it! Thank you to the crew for making this bday one to remember.

Had an amazing time! The crew did a wonderful job! Was recommended the sunset tour over the earlier one and definitely enjoyed it. Saw lots of dolphins and crew found us a great location to snorkel. Thought we would not have enough time for snorkeling but had over an hour in the water. Beautiful relaxing sunset trip back to the dock with good drinks. JC the bartender was a tremendous joy after a day of sun and snorkeling!

We had an excellent time on the dolphin watch and snorkel! The crew (CJ and Jade) were very accommodating and Captain Nick was able to find a few different pods of dolphins! We were able to snorkel at Sambo key, since the weather was calm and we saw a lot of different fish!! It was nice to be in a boat that wasn’t overly crowded and more personable.

About Honest Eco Tours

Started by a biologist in 2014.

I started Honest Eco out of optimism for the positive impact eco tours could have, but also out of a sense of disappointment with the existing boat tours in Key West, Florida.

Having worked on the water for years, most Key West Eco Tours (not all!) were operated without a purpose and were booze cruises in disguise.

Believing that eco tours are a great opportunity to share conservation ideals, I set out with my young family to build something of our own that can hopefully leave the planet just a tiny bit better than we found it and make my family proud!

"The message of Honest Eco was clearly conveyed through Captain Libby and Deckhand Brady (sorry if I'm miss-remembering that!). They were super knowledgeable and informative! Wet suits were provided on the day we went (water was about 69 degrees, air was about 75). Saw quite a few fish, but the highlight for me was the boat ride, sunbathing on the deck, and learning so much about Key West. Excellent fruit, veggies, and hummus to hold us over until returning to shore (staff had great recommendations on how to spend the rest of the day!). I would absolutely use this company again. This definitely took the guilt out of invasive and pollution-driving tourism for me!"

"My family did the dolphin and snorkel tour and it was the highlight of our trip. We were lucky and saw so many dolphins all around us and one even swam up to the boat and put on a little show for us. That dolphin was just as curious about us, as we were about him. One of the main things that really stood out was that right after we saw the dolphins we were headed to a snorkeling spot when we got caught in a storm. Due to the storm, the captain had canceled the snorkeling part of the trip since it wasn’t safe for us to be in the water but after getting us safely out of the storm's reach the captain was able to find us some safe water to snorkel. It was amazing! We saw sponges, fish, crabs, and lobsters. This company is very conscious about the beautiful environment and highly knowledgeable about it as well. Another thing that my family loved was that the tour size was small which allowed for a very personalized experience. If my family and I go back to key west this will be the company we use 100%. We strive to make your booking experience as flexible and accommodating as possible. Understanding that plans can change, we offer a generous cancellation policy and optional trip insurance for when flexibility is paramount.

Cancellation Policy:

Free Cancellation up to 6 Days: You can cancel or reschedule your trip at no charge up to 6 days (144 hours) prior to the departure time.

Within 6 Days: We cannot allow cancellations or rescheduling within 6 days of your trip. This policy applies regardless of when the booking was made.

Optional Trip Insurance:

Added Flexibility: For added peace of mind, we offer optional cancellation insurance that can be added to your booking during purchase. This insurance allows you to cancel or reschedule your trip for any reason, right up to the moment of departure.

Rescheduling: If you choose to reschedule, this will be subject to availability, ensuring we can accommodate your new preferred time without impacting other guests.

We recommend considering our cancellation insurance to cover unexpected changes such as illness or other unforeseen events. This option provides you with flexibility and ensures that you can enjoy your experience with us without worry.

While our tours are designed to be inclusive, accommodating guests of all ages, the specific activities featured, such as snorkeling or kayaking, may vary in accessibility and physical demands.

Please note that entering the kayaks, or ocean for snorkeling require a degree of mobility to manage entry and exit.

Pets Policy

While we are dog lovers and understand the joy pets bring to families, we must prioritize the comfort and safety of all our guests as well as the preservation of our boats. Therefore, pets are not allowed on our regular eco tours due to the potential for increased wear and tear and because not all guests may be comfortable around animals.

Private Charters: For those who wish to bring their family pet on an adventure, we offer the option on private charters. You can include your pet for an additional fee of $75, ensuring that everyone in the family gets to enjoy the experience together.

Thank you for understanding our need to balance the interests of all our guests and the maintenance of our vessels.

BYOB Alcohol Guidelines:

Beer and Wine Welcome: Guests are welcome to bring beer or wine aboard for consumption after the tours activities. For safety and compliance with Coast Guard regulations, please present your beverages to the crew during boarding. Our crew will serve you to ensure both passenger safety and compliance with federal laws.

Glass and Hard Liquor: For the safety of all on board, we ask that you avoid bringing glass beer bottles. We also recommend avoiding hard liquor, as it can be challenging to monitor effects, especially in combination with heat and physical activity.

Consumption Monitoring: The crew reserves the right to restrict alcohol consumption to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment.

Smoking Policy:

No Smoking or Vaping: To ensure the health and comfort of all our passengers, smoking cigarettes, cigars, or vaping is not permitted during the tour.

Federal Regulations on Marijuana: Please note that despite state laws, as a federally regulated vessel, we must adhere to federal laws that prohibit the use of marijuana in any form aboard.

Punctuality

To ensure timely departures and respect for all our guests, please arrive at the boat and be ready to board 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Regrettably, we cannot delay departure for guests who arrive late and are unable to offer refunds or reschedule missed trips unless trip insurance was purchased.

Parking availability varies significantly depending on the time of year and time of day. During peak periods, such as holidays, finding parking can be particularly challenging. To avoid stress and ensure a relaxed start to your adventure, we recommend allowing ample time to park. The area around the dock is scenic and worth exploring, so arriving early offers the added bonus of potentially spotting fish or manatees!

Information on Parking

Traffic in town is generally manageable, but if you’re traveling from Miami, be aware that delays are possible, especially if there’s an accident on US1. To mitigate potential delays, we highly recommend considering our optional trip insurance, which allows for last-minute changes to your plans without penalty, please review trip insurance, reschedules are based on availability.

Eligibility: This guarantee applies only if you have participated in the entire tour. Please understand that we cannot extend this guarantee to guests who miss the boat.
