5 stars -- highly recommend Borneo Adventure

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

What an experience! Booked a 5D tour of Mulu with Borneo Adventure. Spent close to a month planning the trip with our guide Disney Jaboh in Kuching. Disney was a rock star - super patient, incredibly warm and very kind. He addressed all our million questions and helped us craft the perfect tour itinerary to our exact specifications. In time, talking with him was just like speaking with an old friend! We even met him for dinner in Kuching to say hi and say thanks for the memories. During the tour, we were assigned to Nelson, a super experienced guide. Again, 5/5 stars here -- he was the perfect guide and we were so so thankful to have him with us. In 20+ years of travelling to 20+ countries, Borneo Adventure is hands down in the top 3 of private tour companies I've ever engaged. They are not the cheapest, but you pay for what you get.

Could not recommend them highly enough.... we'll definitely be back for a future tour with Borneo Adventure!

An unforgettable experience, breathtaking nature, wonderfully taken cared of by the whole team

We spent unforgettable 4 days in the Batang Ai area, with its breathtakingly beautiful rivers and jungle. We were impressed by the organisation of Borneo Adventure, the huge knowledge of our guide Bayang, and the skilled Iban longboat drivers. We learned so much about the flora and fauna, about the culture and life of the Iban people, even how they cook food in bamboo sticks. The lodge and the camp are both wonderful, the meals really delicious, and all the staff very friendly, relaxed and eager to help. We can highly recommend Borneo Adventure, last and not least because they involve and work together with the Iban people in a sustainable manner.

Great Tours with Great Guides

We did two trips with Borneo Adventure while we were away, both were amazing (Mulu Showcaves 2D1N and Tanjung Datu 3D2N) and highly recommended. The caves and wildlife at Mulu were amazing and our guide Nelson was really great and really knowledgeable. Tanjung Datu is just a special place. Again our guide Lemon was amazing who our made the trip with his cooking, knowledge and conversation. We would use them again 100%.

Learn more about Borneo

Best time to visit borneo.

Borneo's climate is typical for a tropical region - generally hot and humid all year-round.

Temperatures are usually in the low 70F ° s for most of the year, dropping back to the high 60F ° s at night.

Rainfall tends to be in short, heavy bursts followed by sunshine. The 'wet season' runs from November through to February but it does rain throughout the year, although our itineraries are rarely affected.

The state of Sabah is known as the 'land below the wind' as it's below the monsoon belt.

Culture and customs

The cultures across Borneo can vary depending on what border you’re closest to – divided into Malaysian, Indonesia and Brunei regions.

Borneo’s population is largely made up of Malay with the predominant religion being Muslim. The remainder of Borneo’s population is Chinese, Indian or belong to indigenous populations.

You may hear the word ‘Dayak’ used by locals as a general term referring to the riverine and hill-dwelling ethnic subgroups in Borneo.

Historically, most indigenous communities in regional areas lived in longhouses, though many have moved for employment in urban areas. That being said, there is still a substantial number of Dayak tribes that maintain a strong spiritual tie to the rainforest and have retained their customs and speak local dialects.

Food and drink

Rice (nasi) and noodles (mee) are dietary staples across the island and accompany most meals. You’ll find varieties of white, red and brown rice grown throughout Borneo – prepared by steaming, frying, boiling into a breakfast porridge, or cooking with coconut milk in a hollowed bamboo stick to make lemang.

Must-try foods in Borneo

1. Sarawak laksa

This Malaysian-influenced staple is a spicy broth filled with vermicelli noodles, bean sprouts, chicken slices, shrimp and coriander.

Skewers of meat (usually beef or chicken) are grilled to perfection over charcoal.

3. Roti canai

Fried roti bread that is crispy, fluffy and soft all at the same time. It might be served with savory or sweet fillings (from eggs and sardines to coconut jam and bananas), dipped into curry and lentil sauces, or enjoyed on its own.

4. Bamboo chicken

Chicken marinated in chilies, lemongrass, garlic and ginger is stuffed into a bamboo stick with rice, sealed with turmeric leaves and cooked over an open flame until all the flavors merge together.

Geography and environment

The South-East Asian island of Borneo sits just south of the South China Sea, with the Sulu Sea, Celebes Sea, Makassar Strait, Java Sea and Karimata Strait also surrounding the island.

Split up between three countries (Brunei, Indonesia , Malaysia ), the regions most visited by tourists (Sabah and Sarawak) belong to Malaysia.

Home to the oldest rainforest in the world, large cave and river systems and mountains, Borneo has an incredible range of biodiversity with hundreds of species of birds, bats, plants, flowers and insects living in this ecologically precious part of the world.

Sitting 4,095 m above sea level, Sabah's Mount Kinabalu is the third highest mountain in South-East Asia and a popular trekking spot for active travelers looking for a challenge.

History and government

Early history.

Early on, Borneo was used as a port for trade, with the Chinese and Indians stopping in on the coast as a part of their trade route from 500 to 1300 AD. The Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and British were soon to follow. Because of this, Borneo now has a rich diversity of international influences to draw upon from these years of trade and interaction with other cultures.

With most of coastal Borneo falling under the rule of the Javanese Majapahit kingdom in the 14th century, the Sultanate of Brunei extended its rule in the north from the 15th to 17th century. By the 19th century, both the British and the Dutch had colonial interests in the area, with a dynasty led by James Brooke ruling Sarawak for many years. Brooke's interest in the area stemmed from his attempts at trade in the Far East and connections to the Sultanate of Brunei. Brooke's rule was fraught with controversy and battles with the Sea Dayak people, who interrupted trade and were labeled as pirates. James Brook was succeeded by his nephew, Charles, and then his son, Vyner, in this rule known as the 'White Rajahs' of Sarawak.

Recent history

Japan took control of Borneo during World War II, resulting in a high number of deaths for the local population. During the war, many British and Australian prisoners of war were sent to Borneo, with the most notorious spots being Sandakan where thousands of Allied soldiers perished due to disease, malnutrition and exhaustion.

By the conclusion of the war in 1945, Borneo was freed from the Japanese yet only two decades later, Borneo was the site of more conflict, this time between Indonesia and Malaysia. This conflict arose from the union of Sabah and Sarawak with Malaya in the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. More recently, the Sultanate of Brunei became an independent nation (in 1984).

Palm oil plantations have spread rapidly throughout Borneo in the last ten years, mainly due to the decline in the rubber industry. While these plantations have provided jobs and helped the economy in the short term, their proliferation has led to wide-scale deforestation, which surmounts to devastating habitat loss for many of Borneo's endangered species and displacement of indigenous people who rely on the forests and jungles to sustain their hunter-gatherer lifestyles.

Top 10 nature spots of Borneo

1. mount kinabalu.

Seeing sunrise from the top of Mount Kinabalu is a fine payoff for making it to the top. The climb, while strenuous, is filled with beautiful flora, interesting animals and beautiful vistas - making this majestic mountain a true natural highlight of Borneo.

2. Poring Hot Springs

Located within the Kinabalu National Park, these steaming hot pools of water provide a relaxing place to unwind after trekking Mount Kinabalu. Sliding into the open air baths is a therapeutic way to soothe your muscles - a nice outdoor reward for completing such a climb!

3. Bako National Park

The oldest national park in Sarawak may be small, but with isolated beaches, jungles, waterfalls, rock formations and walking trails, visitors will be delighted in the perfect panoramas to photograph and range of wildlife viewing opportunities on offer.

4. Turtle Island

Lying just north of Sandakan, Turtle Island Park is a haven for endangered green and hawksbill turtles. Witnessing turtles landing onshore at dusk, or baby turtles hatching, is one of life's most unforgettable moments.

5. Kinabatangan

This district of Sabah is know for its incredible array of wildlife and diversity of habitat, with limestone caves, swamps, rivers, lakes, forests and mountains all contributing to the ecological diversity of the area. Home to such rare species as the Asian elephant, the proboscis monkey and the Sumatran rhinoceros, a visit to the jungle here will guarantee some wildlife viewing thrills.

Meeting the gentle orangutans of Sepilok is a must-do for visitors to Borneo. These orange-tinged creatures are captivating, entertaining and cheeky - and watching them play, eat and interact in the jungle of Sepilok is a privilege not to be missed.

7. Headhunters' Trail

Walking in the footsteps of one of the world's most mysterious, feared and intriguing people may not be for everyone, but walking along the famed Headhunter's Trail reveals a little bit of local history as well as many wondrous natural sights.

8. Mulu National Park

Visitors should overlook Mulu National Park at their own peril. Not visiting this World Heritage-listed area would mean missing out on canopy walks and treks that reveal exotic creatures, spectacular caves and stunning limestone karst formations.

9. Danum Valley

This area of pristine lowland rainforest is arguably one of Borneo's premier wildlife hot spots. Walk the trails and spot exotic birdlife, interesting plants, flying squirrels, vocal frogs and active gibbons.

10. Gaya Island

Get away from it all and revel in the seclusion of Gaya Island, located just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. See tropical fish swimming through colorful reefs, learn to scuba dive, laze on the uncrowded beaches or grab a kayak and go exploring this slice of tropical beauty.

While Borneo's wild landscapes and beautiful beaches are definitely the true highlight of any visit, there are still treasures to found in Borneo's markets.

It's a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country. Australia and New Zealand generally have strict quarantine laws.

Things to buy in Borneo

1. Ikat weaving

This traditional weaving process results in colored, patterned textiles that can be used as clothing, wall hangings and home furnishings.

2. Wood carvings

Sarawak boasts a population of talented wood carvers -wooden bowls, charms, masks and figurines are all wonderful souvenir choices.

3. Ceramics

Sarawak also has a wide range of good-quality ceramics and pottery thanks to the local populations of Chinese and Iban tribal potters, each group possessing their own distinctive style.

Festival and events

Rainforest world music festival.

The diversity of world music is celebrated over three days each July in the heart of the Borneo jungle. Hoards of eager festival-goers flock to Kuching, Sarawak (in Malaysian Borneo) for daytime music workshops, cultural and craft displays and evening concerts by indigenous performers from all over the globe. And like every good festival, there are always plenty of food stalls serving up yummy Malaysian and Asian foods.

Borneo International Kite Festival

Each September, the seaside town of Bintulu shows us how cool kites can be. Kites of all shapes, colors and sizes fill the sky for stunning displays and kite flying competitions. Come and watch the others show off their skills, participate in a kite-making workshop or take in the cultural performances.

Gawai Dayak (Harvest Festival)

More than just a celebration of the rice harvest, Gawai Dayak is an important symbol of unity for the Dayak and is celebrated with gusto in cities and rural villages across Sarawak. Many longhouses open their doors to visitors, where they are treated to traditional costumes, ritual music and lots of locally brewed rice wine (tuak) and Dayak foods. Head to the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching for the liveliest celebrations, where parades and other festivities begin a week before the main event on May 31.

Borneo Cultural Festival

Hear, see and taste the best of Malay, Chinese and Dayak culture at this annual July festival. Lively music, traditional dances and other cultural performances take place on multiple stages over 10 days in the city of Sibu in Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo). Expect Dayak drums, Malay songs, Chinese dragon dances and lots of mouth-watering cultural eats.

Public holidays that may impact travel include:

Chinese New Year

Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Adha

Islamic New Year

Prophet Muhammad's Birthday

Christmas Day

Since Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei all have claim to Borneo, different parts of the island celebrate different public holidays. The ones listed here are celebrated in all three nations. There are more public holidays in  Indonesia,   Malaysia  and  Brunei.

Squat toilets are common in Borneo, though some hotels and tourist areas have Western-style, flushable toilets. Carrying your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a good idea, as these are not always provided.

Can I drink the tap water in Borneo?

While homosexuality is not illegal in Indonesia, few people are openly out. Regardless of which part of Borneo you are visiting, discretion is strongly suggested.

Keep your eyes peeled for proboscis monkeys, abundant bird species, monitor lizards, crocodiles and other wildlife. We’ll return to the jetty for a traditional Malay buffet dinner. Where is Malaysian Borneo? Sitting in South East Asia and part of the Indonesian archipelago, Borneo is surrounded by the South China Sea, the Java Sea and the Celebes Sea. It’s the world’s third largest island and the only one that’s shared by three countries: Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. The island’s Malaysian states are Sabah and Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur is under three hours away by air.

Kota Kinabalu Known locally as KK, Kota Kinabalu is the coastal capital of Sabah and gateway to your inland wildlife adventures. Much of it was destroyed in the 1940s Japanese invasion and although there are a few colonial buildings left, it’s here you'll find glinting shopping malls and a sizzling street food and night market scene. Hip restaurants, cool coffee houses and sunset views from the beach make this a vibrant capital and a great place from which to boat hop across to the islands that make up Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Gaya Island Located within Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a 20 minute speedboat transfer from Kota Kinabalu, Gaya Island balances natural beauty and marine conservation with luxury touches and plenty of watersports. It’s a feet-in-the-sands escape fringed by crystal clear waters and thriving coral reef that are a paradise for snorkellers and divers. Stay at eco-friendly Gaya Island Resort and you can snorkel with resident marine biologists, follow naturalists out on the proboscis monkey jungle trail and dine with Mount Kinabalu views.

Kinabalu Park Shadowed by the revered Mount Kinabalu, one of South East Asia’s highest mountains, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinabalu Park boasts an incredible bio-diversity. Here naturalists can attempt to spot thousands of varieties of flora and half of all Malaysia’s bird, mammal and amphibian species – it may take a while though. Adventure seekers descend on the park to climb Kinabalu, bathe in the Poring Hot Springs, explore the tropical rainforest, trek to the Langanan and Kipungit waterfalls and visit the nearby butterfly farm to witness just some of the 850 varieties that flutter throughout the forest.

Danum Valley Danum Valley is one of southern Sabah’s most spectacular attractions and comes with a spine-tingling diversity and abundance of wildlife. Its dense and steamy 130-million-year-old virgin rainforest is one of the best places to spot Bornean orangutans and the elusive clouded leopard. You’ll likely see red leaf monkeys, Asian paradise flycatchers and flying squirrels on morning treks and treetop canopy walks, keeping in mind this is their natural habitat and you never know when they’ll be making an appearance.

Wildlife The highly intelligent orangutan is Borneo’s most eminent species and, either on trek into the jungle or a visit to Borneo’s various sanctuaries and rehabilitation centres, you are sure to come eye to doleful eye with one of these endearing yet endangered creatures. In the past 50 years the number of orang-utans in the wild has declined alarmingly due to the loss of habitat caused by illegal logging and the conversion of land to agricultural use, hunting, and human conflict.

Reviews of Small Group tours to Borneo

If you are looking for a nature holiday, I would most defiantely recommend Borneo. Saw all the wildlife I had hoped for and more. Our CEO with G Adventures, Ricky, was fantastic. Helpful, kind, knowledgable and very calm. Always happy to help and answer any questions regarding the wildlife or history of Borneo. The group was also fantastic, full of laid back, like minded, wildlife lovers, from all over the world. Thank you!!
Really enjoyed everything about the Borneo trip, the guide, Gobert was fun, helpful and pleasant. I would recommend this tour.
We started with a disappointment because the weather prevented us from going to Bako N.P. But by ghe end of the trip we had a very ling list of wildlife sightings & experiences. Our guide was wonderful!

“ “ The trip consists of 2 boat rides into the pristine Temburong jungle. Option to stay over night in the Sumbiling ecovillage. We had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed this almost untouched part of the world. The people taking care of us were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We had a great day and will definitely come back! ” Fearless252954 - 2019

I really enjoyed visiting the Eco village and learning about traditional medicine and how to cook various dishes using local plants. Highly recommend Borneo Guide for tours in Brunei! ” Worldismyoyster1070 - 2019 Bangkok, Thailand
“ “ I was only in Brunei for 2 days and I decided to this trip. The family who run the company are all lovely and very involved in the day to day running. Our local guide Seha was very friendly and so were the rest of the people at sumbling eco village. The first day we were picked up and taken to the jetty where we got a boat and then a bus to the village. We went by boat to the canopy walkway and then onto the waterfall. Then back for lunch and a free afternoon to chill. I helped to make supper, bamboo chicken, which was delicious! Unfortunately the rain stopped us from our night walk and sunrise walk but that was ok. The next morning we walked in the rainforest with 5 local guides and learnt lots about some of the plants. Really enjoyed this trip although it is rather pricey! ” Hammy - 2018 North West England, United Kingdom
“ “ I had a limted one of weekend in the capital and stayed at the Raddison. I did the capital tour in the evening Full day tour and water village the Saturday Canopy walk on the Sunday There was a bit of overlap on the two city tours but both were fantastic Picked up and dropped off at the hotel as promised Tour guides Brian and Eric were top notch - Brian esp entertaining The Canopy tour was physically demanding but well worth it , fantastic A highly recommended tour company - faultless ” Greg B. - 2018 Derby, England, United Kingdom
“ “ If you have only one day in Brunei, this is your best bet - a great mix of history and heritage, urban life and nature, all rolled into a fun, convenient and enlightening experience with a very friendly Brunei-born guide! ” SeanYoong - 2019 Sri Kembangan, Malaysia
“ “ Brunei is a different Place: Ruled by a Sovereign sultan, the richest man in the world with a private Collection of more than 7000 cars (incl 450 Ferraris!). And the Sultan reminds everyone of who is in charge through lots of imposing and impressive sights: A mega-large mosque that cost $4 billion With a golden dome, Palaces for everyone to see for himself and his Family, museums of Crown regalia, royal horse stables, monuments to celebrate the Sultan's rule, etc, etc. What is Worth to see in Brunei is the Water Village where real People live, the river, and the tropical jungle along the river. As Brunei has lots of oil Revenues, they have kept the Rainforest and jungle much more intact than Indonesia and Malaysia that to a large extent have replaced rain forest With palm oil plantations. You easily see all sights of Brunei in a day - no reason to stay longer unless you want to admire more of the Sultan's achievements. ” Wilhelmm - 2018 Oslo, Norway
“ “ I didn't really know what to expect of my short visit to Brunei. I signed up for the 5 hour tour with borneoguide.com, and my guide for the day (Faisal), was excellent. He provided me with loads of information, his English was great, and he was very open to answering questions. I obviously have no experience with the other companies, but would highly recommend this guide. He was early showing up the hotel, great at spotting wildlife during the mangrove tour, and genuinely friendly and wanted to ensure I enjoyed. He also seemed to know everyone in Brunei, and would stop and chat and say hello. Great experience. I was on my own, so had to book a solo tour, and it was expensive however. ” Flapster - 2018 Hong Kong, China

Sample Itinerary

Billionth barrel monument / bandar seri begawan / jame' asr hassanil mosque / royal regalia museum / omar ali saifuddien mosque / malay technology museum / kampung ayer / eco-corridor / istana nurul iman.

We will pick you up from the Miri hotel at 07:00hrs and head for a 2.5-hour land journey towards Brunei’s capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Your first stop is the Billionth Barrel Monument in Kuala Belait. Built in 1991, this monument is a markstone in Brunei's oil production legacy, commemorating the production of the billionth barrel of oil in the Seria onshore oil field.

Next, you will visit one of Brunei's most famous Islamic architecture, the Jame' Asr Hassanil Mosque. Completed in 1994 to mark Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's 25 years of reign, this masterpiece showcases 29 golden domes and interiors adorned with luxurious materials like Philippine hardwood, Italian marble, Persian carpets, and real gold.

Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, embark on a captivating visit to the Royal Regalia Museum, which houses the treasures of the Bruneian Sultanate. Here, you can also see exhibitions of the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Witness the architectural splendour of the magnificent Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, which was regarded as one of Asia Pacific's most beautiful mosques.

Step back in time to the Malay Technology Museum, highlighting the traditional technology used in crafts and livelihood by Kampong Ayer residents years ago.

The next stop is Kampung Ayer, also known as the Venice of the East. Explore the water village as you walk along wooden paths and bridges before visiting a local house to savour traditional Malay kueh and tea.

(Optional) After exploring the village, hop on a boat and venture into the mangroves to encounter diverse wildlife, including proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, and monitor lizards.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the riverfront park of Eco Corridor, also known as Golden Jubilee Crown Park, near Sungai Brunei. Here, you can see the breathtaking views of Kampung Ayer from the mainland.

Your last stop is the Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his family, housing both the seat of government and Brunei's senior government offices. Nestled on the banks of the Brunei River, this massive white palace adorned with golden domes and minarets is a true symbol of regal splendour.

After a fun day in Brunei, we will head back to your Miri hotel.

Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour stop in London is officially in full swing, and the celebrity Swifties are showing up and out!

On Saturday, June 22, the 34-year-old "London Boy" crooner, yet again, drew a bevy of celebrities for Night 2 of her three-night stop, with Mete and Paramore were the opening acts, at Wembley Stadium. She had already welcomed an estimated 80,000 concertgoers from across the world for Night 1, including some royals and other notable figures and fans of the 14-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist. Given Swift's connection to the U.K. capital -- she lived in London on and off with Joe Alwyn , her ex-boyfriend of six years -- it's no surprise just how many friends turned out.

While she may have said "So Long, London" in one song off her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department , she is back and better than ever. For the Saturday show, the likes of Tom Cruise, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Liam Hemsworth showed up to support Swift.

Ditto for Travis, Jason and Kylie Kelce, all of whom returned after having a blast in the VIP tent Friday night, alongside Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Those who miss out on the first London leg (featuring  chicken tenders with seemingly ranch ) will have a chance to catch the Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in August, when Swift returns for five more shows before she officially heads back to the U.S. for tour dates in New Orleans, Miami and Indianapolis.

Until then, check out the full list of celebs below who made it to Swift's first Eras Tour stop in London.

William and the royal kiddos -- Prince George and 10, Princess Charlotte -- made an appearance at the show. The concert fell on William's 42nd birthday, who celebrated by dancing to Swift's hit "Shake It Off." As a special treat, Swift and her boyfriend,  Travis Kelce , who also attended the show, had a private meet and greet with the royals backstage.

Swift later went back to that same IG post and tagged Kelce, the first time she's done that.

He's back and ready for another singalong.

Swift is no stranger to big names in the crowd. In August, during her Eras Tour stop in Los Angeles , her VIP tent saw friend after friend enter, including Selena Gomez, Mindy Kaling, Charlize Theron, Emma Stone, Channing Tatum and Kevin Costner, among many others. Since then, her No. 1 VIP has been No. 87 on the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce , who Swift  began dating in late (not so cruel) summer  of last year.

In May, Kelce  attended Swift's 87th Eras Tour show , which just so happened to occur in the City of Love -- Paris, France. Coincidence or is she a mastermind ? Regardless, Kelce was accompanied by her close friends, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper , while her mom,  Andrea Swift , and  Lenny Kravitz  were also in attendance.

After a two-month break from the end of February to early May, Swift resumed her record-breaking world tour in Nanterre, France, and has visited Sweden, Portugal and Scotland in the weeks since, making each show with unique surprise songs -- including the recently debuted " murder mashup " and " diss track mashup. "

Sadly, Swift recently used her 100th show to announce that the Eras Tour will officially conclude  in December as she finishes out the two-year spanning undertaking in Vancouver, Canada -- the hometown of her good friend, Ryan Reynolds , who we predict will absolutely be present.

Kapit councillors conclude five-day study visit to Johor Bahru

Lating (left) presents a memento to Mohd Noorazam during a courtesy call on the mayor.

KAPIT (June 22): Twenty-two Kapit District Council (KDC) councillors yesterday concluded a study visit to Johor Bahru which began June 17.

Led by KDC chairman Lating Minggang and secretary Kelimbik Sibat, the tour saw the group visit Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) to gain insights on urban development planning and solid waste management, among others.

“The visit aims to help KDC further improve our quality of service to the public in terms of providing suitable facilities in line with the socioeconomic progress of Kapit Division,” said Lating.

He added that the group was especially interested in the facilities of the public library at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre, as well as MBJB’s sustainable education programme at SJKC Foon Yew No. 2 and operations at the MBJB night market.

Lating also thanked Johor Bahru mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman for hosting the visitors and sharing ideas and information with the KDC councillors.

Taylor Swift posts selfie with Prince William, kids and goes IG official with Travis Kelce

"So Long, London." Hey, Prince William!

On Friday, The Prince of Wales celebrated his 42nd birthday at night one of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour concert performances at Wembley Stadium in London — and the popstar posted a picture early Saturday morning to prove it.

"Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝 @princeandprincessofwales ," Swift wrote on Instagram in a selfie featuring Prince William and his two eldest children, Prince George, 10 and Princess Charlotte, 9. The snap also included her first post with Travis Kelce , the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and three-time Super Bowl champion.

Prince William jumps for joy in birthday photo shot by Princess Kate

Swift's selfie also marks the first Instagram photo she has posted with Kelce since the pair were first linked in August of last year. The pair started dating after the NFL star called Swift out on his podcast New Heights after he made an unsuccessful attempt at giving Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at the second Kansas City show of  Swift's Eras Tour .

Prince William and Princess Kate's official Instagram account @princeandprincessofwales also posted a photo featuring a behind the scenes of the "London Boy" singer's selfie, captioning the post "Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour ." That photo featured a quartet of Swift and the three Royal Family members sans Kelce.

In a suite to the right side of the stage, Swifties appeared to capture the Prince of Wales shimmying fervently to the chorus of “Shake It Off" in videos shared by multiple fan accounts.

Earlier in the day to celebrate the future king's birthday, the Buckingham Palace military band performed "Shake It Off," titling it "Changing of the Guard (Taylor's Version)". The Royal Family tweeted out a two-minute video of the band performing the chart-topping tune.

Princess Kate, who was not at the concert, is currently battling cancer but recently returned to public life riding in a carriage with her three children, for  Trooping the Colour on June 8 to celebrate her father-in-law King Charles III's birthday. The appearance came five months after she stepped away from public life amid her cancer diagnosis.

Princess Kate posted a birthday shoutout featuring the pair's three kids

That's not the only photo where Prince William received a royal birthday shoutout. The Princess of Wales posted a photo to the pair's official social media accounts featuring Prince William jumping for joy with their three children — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — midair while on a sandy beach.

The cheerful moment was captured by  Princess Kate  in Norfolk, England, in May, Kensington Palace confirmed to USA TODAY Friday.

Taylor Swift draws backlash for 'all the racists' lyrics on new 'Tortured Poets' album

"Happy birthday Papa, we all love you so much! Cx," the royal account captioned the photo.

Things to Know

  • Due to the threat of severe weather in the afternoon, Sunday’s final round will feature threesomes off tee Nos. 1 and 10 from 8:30-10:41 a.m.
  • Seeking a third win of the season on PGA TOUR Champions, Stephen Ames maintains a spot at the top of the leaderboard after a 3-under 69
  • Angling for a third consecutive DICK’S Open title and first as a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Padraig Harrington birdies his last three holes to sign for a bogey-free 7-under 65
  • On the strength of six birdies and two eagles, Ken Tanigawa matches Harrington’s second-round 7-under 65 and inches closer to a third straight top-10 finish on PGA TOUR Champions

Stephen Ames – 64-69 (-11)

  • On the heels of a bogey-free 8-under 64 to open his sixth DICK’S Open, followed with a 3-under 69 to maintain a spot at the top of the leaderboard headed into Sunday’s final round
  • When holding a 36-hole lead/co-lead in 54 holes events, is 6-for-9 converting for the win (NOTE: won this year’s Chubb Classic as the 36-hole leader when the final round was canceled due to severe weather)
  • It took 49 starts on PGA TOUR Champions to capture his first title (2017 Mitsubishi Electric Classic); has claimed his most recent six titles within his last 35 starts
  • In five previous starts in the DICK’S Open, a T12 in 2015 serves as his strongest finish
  • In 12 previous starts this season, has earned eight top-10 finishes, two of which were victories (Chubb Classic, Mitsubishi Electric Classic)
  • In most recent start before this week, earned T4 honors at the American Family Insurance Championship

Padraig Harrington – 68-65 (-11)

  • Looking to become the first player to win the same PGA TOUR Champions event three consecutive seasons since Bernhard Langer achieved the feat at the Kaulig Companies Championship (2014-16), the newly minted World Golf Hall of Fame Member completed his round of 7-under 65 with birdies on each of his last three holes
  • Is 3-for-3 when attempting to convert a 36-hole lead into victory in 54-hole events on PGA TOUR Champions: 2024 Hoag Classic, 2023 TimberTech Championship, 2022 Ascension Charity Classic
  • In six starts this season before this week, has finished no worse than T19 (Insperity Invitational)
  • Claimed his seventh and most recent PGA TOUR Champions title earlier this season at the Hoag Classic

Ken Tanigawa – 68-65 (-11)

  • Offset a bogey and double bogey at Nos. 14 and 15, respectively, with two eagles and six birdies to sign for a 7- under 65 and move to 11-under par
  • Is 1-for-4 when trying to convert a 54-hole lead/co-lead into victory in a 54-hole event on PGA TOUR Champions (2018 PURE Insurance Championship)
  • Lone top-10 finish in five previous DICK’S Open starts, a T6, came in 2022
  • With today’s 7-under 65, extends his perfect streak of sub-par scores at En-Joie GC to 17
  • Seeks a third career win on PGA TOUR Champions in his 152nd start and first since the 2019 Senior PGA Championship

Additional Notes

  • Highlighted by seven birdies and an eagle, Bob Estes made strides towards a first PGA TOUR Champions win with an 8-under 64 to reach 10-under 134 (T4); the 64 marks his lowest score since posting the same number in round two of the 2022 Rapsican Systems Classic; as a rookie on the PGA TOUR in 1989, his share of the purse for a playoff loss ($54,000) to Mike Hulbert at the B.C. Open on the PGA TOUR at En-Joie GC allowed him to retain his card for the 1990 season on TOUR
  • With just one bogey through 36 holes, Paul Stankowski opened with back-to-back 5-under 67s in his third start in the DICK’S Open and comes off a T18 in last year’s event; remains in search of his first win on PGA TOUR Champions in his 66th start
  • Following a 4-over 76 to start his week, Matt Gogel made seven birdies in the 9-hole stretch of 4-12, including five straight on Nos. 4-8; signed for a 6-under 66 to move up to T41 at 2-under 242
