Brilliant clinic

Brilliant clinic, very clean, lovely staff who are incredibly knowledgeable and won’t try and sell you lots of unnecessary jabs for the sake of it! Great service.

Date of experience : 19 July 2023

I found dealing with this clinic very…frustrating

I found dealing with this clinic very frustrating. Complications with my elderly mums' vaccines lead to two weeks of phone calls, promises broken to call back. Calls not returned. Totally unprofessional Refusal to give yellow fever vaccine due to her age totally accepted but then refused to issue an exemption note, didn't even tell me this for two weeks! As professional you can't give half a service and expect happy customers!

Reply from hopetravelclinic.co.uk

Dear Tracey, we are very sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with the service. As advised from the onset, we had mentioned that a medical exemption was inappropriate due to the potential risk to the patient should they contract yellow fever during their travel. Based on the information provided at the time, we thought it was safer to signpost or decline the issue of an exemption certificate .

Brilliant accommodating attitude

Received my travel vaccinations here on an extremely tight schedule. I had lost hope before calling Hope Travel Clinic. Ireta went outside of her usual opening hours to ensure my schedule could be adhered too. Elite customer service. I’m so happy I found Hope Travel Clinic, cannot recommend highly enough.

Micro Suction

Went for micro auction for blocked ears and had a brilliant experience. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly! I was given more advice and help than the GP and Med Occ combined and it was clear that they genuinely wanted to help me. I had to go for a second session and this was free of charge and ear drops were also provided. Could not recommend more.

I will continue to remember this…

I will continue to remember my experience with them. I travel frequently from Dover to Calais by boat and I did not know, I still needed a test to go on board. I had an appointment in Belgium in the afternoon at a hospital but they send me back in Dover. In my car, I searched on the internet and found this service in Folkestone. I had a fantastic communication from the beginning on and I could come directly to them. Someone already stood on the door and helped me to pay and book it immediately. I drove back to the harbour and together with my arrival, my result came already in. I managed to take the next boot and I was only 5 minutes too late at my appointment in the hospital in Belgium ! That was incredible for me. So thanks to this travelclinic, I made it. And thanks to the very good communication and service, a really stressful situation turned out to a positive feeling. They still exist, the organizations who are doing a really good job and who care to help you. Thank you.

Thank you Annique for a lovely feedback and we are glad we were able to help!

Went to this clinic for the first time today, for my travel vaccinations and to see if I was upto date. They were very thorough went through all my records which I took with me. Didn't need as many as I thought. Very friendly staff, would definitely recommend

I just wanted to say what an amazing…

I just wanted to say what an amazing experience we had today at the hope clinic with josh. We had a pcr at bluewater yesterday and normally get quick results but sadly not this time Dubai have changed the turn around to 48 hrs which made that difficult with a night flight. We called hope clinic who said we could book when we arrived incase we get the other results. We turned up and Vodafone wasn't working there so josh very kindly let us use his phone to book our appointments. We booked and had the tests 10 minutes early. No waiting. Got the results within 3 hours but in my panic i put the wrong date of birth on my form. More stress! I called the office and Josh calmed me down, re did the forms which I received in 10 minutes. Stress over. He was amazing and a real credit to the company. Will definitely use again thank you Josh!!

Thank you Sienna, we appreciate your feedback

Cancellation policy is not as it seems!!!

I booked a PCR for my 13yr old son to have on the 29th December before our pending travel to the Canary Islands on 31st December but due to the recent changes made by the Spanish government, we are no longer able to travel. On the hope clinic website, it states that all cancellations made at least 48hrs prior to appointment will be refunded within 7 working days so I cancelled the PCR on 26th November and I emailed the company to advise them. One week on and I haven't received an acknowledgement so I tried to contact them via the number they provided on their website but no answer and after a few rings, an EE message kicks in stating that the mailbox is full. I found their Rochester clinic Number so I called them and explained the situation. I was told that someone would call me back later that day but nobody did. I left it for a couple of days and called the Rochester site back, I explained everything and again I was told that someone would call me back. I refused to be palmed this time so eventually, the young lady I was speaking to passed me over to her colleague "Josh" He explained that it can take up to 10 days for a refund to be issued but apparently, the refund isn't automatically triggered until you call them and tell them that you have cancelled online. I explained that this is not stated on the website and that I had sent 2 emails to confirm our cancellation but didn't receive any acknowledgement. I told him it's been impossible to get an answer from the site it was booked and that I shouldn't have to trawl the internet to find an alternative number to call. He apologised but It's been almost two weeks since I cancelled the PCR test online and now I have to wait a further 10 days for my refund. People will just cancel and assume they will automatically be refunded. This is a government-approved company. Worrying or maybe it's just a sign of the times!!! I wouldn't recommend this company.

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Yellow Fever
  • Meningococcal

Visitors to Hawaii Hawaii is a paradise known for the sun, the sea, and all things natural. To make sure your stay goes well, be respectful of the power of these natural forces to avoid injury and illness.

Helpful Tips:

  • In Hawaii, ocean safety is very important. If advised not to swim — don't. Heed the international signage at local beaches alerting you to rough sea conditions, rip currents, jellyfish and high surf.
  • When hiking the wilderness, be sure to check in with park rangers first. It's not uncommon to get lost in an unfamiliar environment. And make sure to wear appropriate footwear at all times.
  • A word of caution about the sunshine: it is much stronger than many visitors are accustomed to on the mainland. Use sunscreen and reapply liberally all day long. Protect children with sunblock containing zinc oxide or the latest in "sun suits" that block harmful rays. Hats and sunglasses are also a must.

Hawaii Residents Planning to Travel Overseas Planning a trip overseas? Travelers need to be aware of the health risks unique to their destination. Some countries have problems maintaining a sanitary water supply. Other countries have diseases that Americans may not normally be exposed to. You should plan ahead before international travel to prevent health problems before they occur, so you can have a fun and safe trip.

Here are some steps you can take to prepare for your trip:

  • Educate yourself about the health risks in the country you are visiting. What are common diseases? How can you protect yourself from insect bites? Your travel medicine doctor will have educational material that will prepare you for your trip and your destination.
  • Immunize yourself to those diseases found in that country. Your travel medicine doctor will have access to all the current diseases and outbreaks in various areas of the world and will advise you accordingly. Plan to seek advice four to six weeks before you depart on your trip to allow adequate time for immunization. This immunization process may take a few weeks, so it is important to allow your body time to adjust before you travel.
  • Have fun while visiting your destination, but be cautious. Unlike the U.S., many foreign governments do not regulate the safety of boats, equipment and vehicles. In addition, travelers are advised to check with their Personal Care Physician (PCP) if they have health problems prior to traveling. It is recommended that travelers carry a note stating any significant medical condition, list of medications currently being taken, any allergies, and the name and phone number of an emergency contact person and their treating physician. Also, carry sufficient quantities of your prescription medication and a first aid kit. The first aid kit should include over-the-counter medication such as Aspirin or Tylenol, sun block, antihistamine, antibiotic ointment, Band-Aids, anti-diarrhea and calamine lotion.

Public health agencies, such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), have set up guidelines and health information for the international traveler and can provide general health information about your destination.

Travel medicine

When you’re traveling abroad, you want every aspect of your trip to go well. Unfortunately, each year as many as 25 percent of Americans who travel abroad experience some type of illness during their trip. On a typical two-week trip, travelers can lose an average of three days because of illness.

The Edward-Elmhurst Health travel medicine specialists can help you take proactive steps to stay healthy and make most of your experience. Contact our travel medicine specialists at least six weeks before your departure , and we’ll customize a plan that prepares you for every place on your itinerary.

What to expect at the travel medicine clinic

When you visit our travel medicine clinic, you’ll consult with one of our specialists about your trip. The discussion will cover:

  • All the places you’re visiting, the purpose and timing of your travels, and how long you plan to stay
  • Activities you’re planning on your trip, such as mountain climbing or mission work
  • Your vaccination and medical history, including allergies
  • Your current medications

Travel medicine tailored to your needs

Based on your consultation, we will recommend the appropriate vaccines and prescriptions for your trip. Recommendations will be customized to your unique needs. For example, you may need medication to limit altitude sickness during a climbing expedition. You’ll also learn how to plan for water and food safety, protect yourself from disease-carrying mosquitoes, and deal with traveler’s diarrhea and other common ailments.

We carefully consider the risks and benefits of vaccines and medicines and, in some cases, provide an explanatory waiver rather than a vaccination. This document explains the decision not to give a vaccine, typically due to a person's age, medical condition or current medications.

Vaccines and immunizations

The Edward-Elmhurst travel medicine clinic offers the following vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A and B
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Yellow Fever*

*CDC Certified Yellow Fever Immunization site.

Certain vaccinations may require more than one dose and/or a follow-up consultation.

Make an appointment six weeks in advance

Travel medicine consultations must be scheduled in advance. A 4-6 week lead time is strongly recommended for most vaccinations, as there may be a waiting period before the vaccine becomes effective. Payment is due at the time of service. Most insurance companies do not reimburse for this service.

Services offered at:

Edward Hospital Campus 100 Spalding, Suite 212 Naperville, IL 60540

When planning an international trip, your mind may immediately wander to all the leisure activities you’re looking forward to. But it’s also important to plan for your health and safety.

At Advocate Health Care, we provide travel vaccinations, medications and other services to protect you and your family. With multiple convenient locations throughout the Chicago metro area, we make it easy to get the travel medicine services you need. Our international travel clinic specialists help you stay healthy so you can get the most out of your trip.

What are travel vaccinations?

Travel vaccinations are the immunizations you need to stay safe when traveling abroad. Specific vaccines are required for travel to certain countries. Others protect you from illnesses that are more common in other countries than in the U.S.

Getting the proper vaccinations can help you avoid getting sick during your trip. It also helps lower the risk of bringing a disease back home or spreading it to others.

Who needs travel vaccines?

Most people should get travel vaccines before visiting another country, even if you’re traveling for pleasure or to visit loved ones. These people may also need to get travel vaccines:

  • Business or government travelers
  • Employees of a nongovernmental organizations (NGO)
  • Humanitarian aid workers
  • Parents planning to adopt a child from another country
  • Students in a study-abroad program or on spring break

Required vaccinations for travel

Before you travel, you should make sure you’re up to date on all your routine vaccinations, such as:

  • Chickenpox (varicella) vaccine
  • COVID vaccine
  • Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine
  • Meningococcal vaccine
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • Polio vaccine
  • Shingles vaccine
  • Tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine

Depending on your history and the country you’re visiting, you may need additional travel vaccines:

  • Dengue fever vaccine
  • Hepatitis A and B vaccines
  • Japanese encephalitis vaccine
  • Meningitis vaccine
  • Rabies vaccine
  • Typhoid vaccine
  • Yellow fever vaccine

When should I get travel vaccines?

Experts recommend visiting a travel clinic at least four to six weeks before your trip. It takes several days or weeks for your body to build up adequate immunity after receiving a vaccine. Many vaccinations also require more than one dose. Seeing a health care provider at least four weeks before your trip helps ensure you have enough time to get the right care.

How long before travel should I get the hepatitis A vaccination?

You should get the hepatitis A vaccination several months before traveling to a country where the disease is common. Hepatitis A is a two-dose vaccine series given six months apart. Getting the two-dose series will provide the most protection against hepatitis A. However, if you don’t have enough time to get both doses before your trip, receiving just the first dose will still provide some protection.

Where to get vaccinations for international travel

Your primary care provider may offer the routine vaccinations you need before travel. However, most primary care providers don’t carry the vaccines required for international travel. When visiting another country, the best place to go is a travel clinic .

At these clinics, travel medicine specialists discuss your itinerary with you and provide personalized guidance to help you stay safe. They recommend vaccines and give you any necessary immunizations onsite.

What to expect during your visit to the travel clinic

Before your travel clinic appointment, please print and fill out the traveler history form (PDF) . This form provides us with the necessary information to make the appropriate recommendations about your health and safety. You may need to gather information from multiple sources, so please allow plenty of time to complete the form before your visit.

You’ll need to bring your completed traveler history form to your appointment along with your:

  • Health insurance card
  • Photo identification to verify your insurance, such as a passport, driver’s license or government ID
  • Travel itinerary
  • Vaccination records

You’ll meet with one of our travel medicine specialists to review your itinerary and medical needs. This provider:

  • Answers your questions
  • Evaluates your current health and medical history
  • Prescribes medications as needed
  • Provides vaccinations as needed

Plan for your appointment to last around 90 minutes. We recommend you receive all your travel vaccinations at one location for a more accurate health record.

Travel clinic services

Our travel clinics provide exams, vaccines and medical treatment before you visit another country. We also offer:

  • Contact information for local doctors and emergency facilities in the countries you plan to visit
  • Corporate accounts if you have employees who need our services
  • International Certificate of Vaccinations or Prophylaxis (ICVP)
  • Medical examinations for immigration
  • Medications for travel conditions such as traveler’s diarrhea, altitude sickness and malaria
  • Personalized advice, information about potential risks at your destination, and appropriate precautions based on your age, health history and itinerary
  • Recommendations for travel first aid kits

Amidst Violence, Haiti Takes A New Approach On Mental Health Services For Traumatized Youth

Project HOPE mobilizes medical units through mobile clinics to guarantee access to essential primary healthcare and mental health services.

Dominique Jackson • May 21, 2024

hope travel clinic

In the wake of relentless challenges , Haiti stands resilient. Project HOPE mobilizes medical units to guarantee access to essential primary healthcare and mental health services. As the nation grapples with a worsening humanitarian crisis , the provision of essential healthcare becomes increasingly vital. Amidst this backdrop, mobile medical units emerge as a beacon of hope. Each is bridging the gap to care for communities in dire need.

“Chronic poverty prevents the vast majority of the population from accessing quality health care,” says Dr. Didinu Tamakloe, Project HOPE’s Country Director for Haiti. “Entire families are unable to go to their closest hospital or health center because of the cost of health care and transport.”

Addressing Urgent Healthcare Needs

The rugged terrain and inadequate infrastructure in Haiti often pose insurmountable barriers to accessing healthcare services. For many, the nearest hospital or clinic is a distant journey fraught with obstacles. However, Project HOPE’s mobile medical units transcend these challenges, bringing healthcare directly to the doorstep of underserved communities. With essential medical supplies and dedicated healthcare professionals , these clinics offer a lifeline to those in need, delivering comprehensive care.

Community Engagement and Empowerment

Central to the success of Project HOPE’s mobile clinics is community engagement and empowerment. Recognizing the unique needs and challenges of each community, these clinics prioritize local partnerships and collaboration. Community members actively participate in the planning and implementation of healthcare initiatives. This ensures that services meet their specific needs.

Mobile clinics also serve as hubs for health education and empowerment. Through meaningful engagement, Project HOPE fosters a sense of ownership and agency within communities, catalyzing sustainable change from within.

Building Resilience for the Future

As Haiti navigates the complexities of recovery and rebuilding, the importance of resilience cannot be overstated. Project HOPE’s mobile clinics provide immediate relief and lay the foundation for long-term resilience. By strengthening healthcare systems and fostering community empowerment, these clinics equip Haiti with the tools to weather future storms. Prioritizing the most vulnerable and marginalized populations also addresses systemic inequities for a more inclusive and resilient future. In the face of uncertainty, Project HOPE’s mobile clinics offer hope, compassion, and solidarity.
