Scorpio N vs Safari: Exterior, interior & driving experience compared

car

The black & brown cabin is a more practical option as compared to the beige or white upholstery in the Safari or XUV700.

BHPian NitSat recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Tata Safari owner’s observations about Scorpio N

Hello friends

I accompanied my brother-in-law and fellow BHPian Cool-Shine to check out the newly launched ScorpioN. He is seriously considering Scorpio N.

I own Tata Safari 2021, and these are my observations about the new Scorpio N, purely in comparison with Safari 2021.

We went to NBS showroom at Malad Link road. There were a couple of potential customers ahead of us. But within 10 -15 minutes, a demo car was made available to us. That was a top-end diesel automatic TWD.

The front is humongous. The bonnet is imposing even in comparison with the Safari. M&M, for a change, has not gone overboard with the design elements and that gives a mature look to the car. Somewhat similar to the Fortuner. They had demo cars in white and black shades. I particularly liked the white shade, which has shiny elements, giving a more premium feel to it.

The side profile is similar to the classic Scorpio.

The rear however looks abrupt and plain. The front two third looks much better than the last one third (which looks like a work in progress). I mean Safari looks elegant and proportionate, from whichever angle you look at it. But looks are purely a subjective parameter.

The black and brown cabin is a more practical option as compared to beige or white upholstery in Safari or XUV. Maintenance should be relatively easy. The cabin height is good.

However, I felt the driver bay was a bit cramped as compared to my Safari. A heavily built person may find it inadequate, especially the seat width. However, the knee room is good in front (unlike the Safari where the left knee constantly touches the central console). The dead pedal is adequate. A lot of soft-touch material on the dashboard.

The infotainment system is definitely a lot sleeker, as compared to the archaic one in Safari. Even though we could not check out all the functions in our ten-minute test drive, but the touch response was very good.

Middle-row seats are equally comfortable in both Safari and Scorpio N. Three average size adults can be easily accommodated in the middle row and leg room is more than adequate.

The third row of Scorpio N was universally panned by everyone, but I found that for short journeys, average size adults can definitely travel. However, absolutely no under-thigh support and minimal leg room will make it the least desired place in Scorpio N. The Safari scores over Scorpio N here, because of the sliding second row, making it more user-friendly.

The sliding second row and separate AC Blower make the third row of Safari a way better proposition than Scorpio N. Also beige interiors, panoramic sunroof make the cabin look more airy and refreshing in Safari.

Driving experience

The driving position is commanding. It offers a complete view of the bonnet. Push the Start button, slot it in D mode and wow. The car just blows you out. The instant power delivery brings a smile to your face.

Compared to the hydraulic steering of Safari, the electronic steering feels so easy to drive, especially at low speeds. It makes manoeuvering and turning a lot easier than Safari.

In a strictly ten minutes, 1.5 km test drive, I could not assess some critical details like highway manners, high-speed stability or brake adequacy. I felt the steering was too light in terms of feedback and sincerely hope that it weighs up proportionately at high speeds. The body roll is well contained in a BOF behemoth of this size, at least at lower speeds.

Scorpio N comes with Micro hybrid technology. So when you brake, the engine comes to a standstill and it restarts as soon as you touch the accelerator.

This feature is similar to the Auto hold function in Safari. But the only difference is, in Safari the auto hold puts the car in the idle position, rather than a complete standstill. But in bumper-to-bumper city traffic, repeated start-stop in Scorpio N will put more burden on the engine and will also reduce the FE considerably I feel.

We all know it’s negligible in both Safari and Scorpio N. However, the bench seat of Scorpio N doesn’t have a 50-50 split. Also when folded, it goes vertical, thereby reducing the boot space a bit more. The boot floor becomes uneven leaving a small trough in the floor, after the bench seat is folded. So loading and unloading the heavy bags will be a bit of a task here. In Safari, the third row folds completely flat (well almost). The side opening tailgate is definitely a lot easier as compared to Safari where the tailgate is heavy and the opening button is not easily accessible.

The build quality, the fit and finish of materials and finesse (or rather lack of it) are equally comparable in both cars.

The Scorpio N is the taller car of the two. The higher GC is evident while getting in and out of the car.

Overall Scorpio N is a very promising vehicle. It’s the best option under thirty big ones, for someone looking for a 4WD, comfortable five-seater with luggage or a seven-seater for short family drives.

Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.

Story

  • Tata Safari has recently been updated with fresh design and new features
  • A new generation of the Mahindra Scorpio was launched in 2022
  • Scorpio-N also comes with Petrol and 4-wheel drive variants

Two absolute icons of the Indian Automotive Industry, who have had successful stints for more than 2 decades now. The Mahindra Scorpio now called the Scorpio-N and the Tata Safari , which has recently got a significant update have been there and done that. While the latter is front-wheel drive running on a monocoque architecture, the former is a rear-wheel drive body-on-frame machine. Which one of these 3-row SUVs should you go for? We try to look for the answer.

In their new generations both the SUVs have changed and how. They have become more premium, feature-rich, and even more desirable. And even though there’s a lot that sets them apart, many things also unite these two giants which have made India proud for decades.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 3

Scorpio-N gets a wheelbase of 2,750 mm while on the Safari it is 2,741 mm.

Let’s begin with dimensions because in a segment like this, size does matter. The Safari is slightly longer and wider when compared to the Scorpio-N but importantly the Scorpio-N is taller and has a longer wheelbase so evens out nicely between the two.

Across the range, it is the Safari that gets 17-inch to 19-inch wheel sizes, while the Scorpio-N gets 17-inch wheels on all trims barring the top Z8L which gets 18-inch wheels. The clear difference though is in design because the Safari is a car that looks like it belongs to 2024. The connecting headlamps and tail lamps look quite nice and the use of body colour inserts on the grille ensures a premium look.

Side opening door or electric tailgate, which one do you like?

Sequential turn indicators along with welcome and goodbye animation add their charm to the Safari in the top Accomplished trim. When it comes to the profile the Scorpio-N looks the sportier of the two but from the rear, it is Safari once again that looks and feels sophisticated, but the Scorpio-N has its fans too with its silver-finished skid plates. The SUV was launched in 2022, and you can see the difference time has made to the design of these two vehicles. The Safari is more appealing when it comes to the looks, especially on the face.

Tech & Interior

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 29

The Safari facelift has upped the game when it comes to tech & features.

With the facelift that came late last year, the Tata Safari has become more premium and feature-rich. It gets a big 12-inch touchscreen system, full digital cluster, a new flat-bottomed steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and the nice hidden until-lit touch panel which gets lots of controls.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 18

A panoramic sunroof is available only on the Safari.

On the top Accomplished+ trim you exclusively get iRA 2.0 connected car tech, Alexa voice commands, and JBL Audio modes while on the lower Accomplished, there’s the premium looking Oyster white theme, voice-assisted dual-zone climate control and panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming iRVM and electric front seats. Other notable features are an electric parking brake, air purifier, and a 45 W C-type charger while the captain seats version gets the useful boss mode as well as head restraints on the second row.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 14

A dark brown theme in the Scorpio-N gives a premium feel.

On the Scorpio-N the rich coffee black upholstered seats add a touch of luxury and here also you have dual-zone climate control. Wireless charging along with wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto compatibility is on offer here too while the Adrenox system with its more than 70 connected car features feels one up on the Tata. So does the 12-speaker Sony Audio system but it is the Safari that races ahead with just the sheer number of features it offers. For access to the third row, one-touch tumble-down seats work better on the Scorpio, but the captain seat version is available only without 4x4.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 26

Ergonomically, the last row on the Safari feels slightly better.

On both these SUVs the third row is not the most ideal place for adults to spend a long time, but what you get on the Safari is that you can slide forward the second-row seats to create more space, which is not possible on the Scorpio-N. Ergonomically also the last row on the Safari feels slightly better with AC controls, cup holders, and a 50:50 split. With the facelift it also gets an electric tailgate with hands-free functioning and with the third row folded you get a boot space of 420 litres. The Scorpio-N with its side opening door offers a higher 450 litres in the same scenario.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 7

Engine remains the same on the Safari facelift when compared to earlier.

The tried and tested 2.0-litre motor on the Safari makes 168 hp and 250 Nm and does its duty on multiple cars across various brands. Your options are a 6-speed manual or torque convertor and we drove the latter. However, there’s still no 4x4 or Petrol option here both of which are available on the Scorpio-N. The setup works well and there’s hardly any lag because peak torque is available early at around 1,750 rpm. Plus, to make your drive a little more enjoyable and in your control, you also get paddle shifts on the Safari which are missing on the Scorpio-N.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 6

The dynamics of Tata Safari are praiseworthy despite big dimensions.

The highlight of the Safari is its Land Rover-derived OMEGARC architecture and the fact that the SUV is built on a monocoque construction resulting in a machine that handles well despite its big dimensions. It gives you good stability on fast roads, straight roads or while turning at high speeds. You get a confident drive, and the occupants remain stable and firm in one place. The ride quality also plays its part here and spending your time in the Safari is a comfortable experience. The steering wheel is nice and light and is easy to maneuver this big car even through narrower spaces.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 28

Safari comes with different terrain and drive modes.

Fuel efficiency is always a critical thing on cars no matter what segment they are in and that is why the Safari like a lot of other vehicles from the brand gets various drive modes. So, you can choose between City, Sport, and Eco depending on the kind of drivability and the kind of fuel efficiency you want.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 4

The Scorpio-N remains as imposing as ever on the roads.

On the Scorpio-N you sit a little higher on the driver’s seat which works better and also ensures a clearer view of the road. The pillars as they’re thinner here when compared to the Safari, so the view is nicer from the driver’s seat. Although an auto-dimming internal rear-view mirror is missing here what worked for me as a driver were the big side-view mirrors which offer great views.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 5

A rear-wheel drive provides good balance to the Scorpio-N.

At 172 bhp, the power on the Scorpio-N Diesel is only slightly higher when compared to the Safari but importantly there’s a big difference when it comes to the peak torque (370 Nm), especially on the Automatic (400 Nm) it’s even higher contributes to a much more enjoyable drive which is more free-flowing and the car is quicker as well. Here too the choice is between a 6-speed Manual and Automatic and the peak torque kicks in earlier which contributes to a more enthusiastic experience.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 1

Scorpio-N gets various terrain modes apart from 4x4 variants.

When compared to the previous generation, the new Scorpio-N is vastly improved when it comes to dynamics, there is a clear improvement in handling or even ride quality. A rear-wheel drive ensures a more balanced approach on the SUV though it's still a challenge to match the dynamics of a monocoque construction. Of course, if you want a proper 4x4 option it is only the Scorpio-N that will give you that, so take it out on the bad roads, or no roads, it will promise you surety.  There are terrain modes as well – namely Normal, Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand but only on the 4x4 variants. 4X4 though misses out on Zip, Zap, Zoom drive modes.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N 2

There is still some scope for improvement in NVH levels in the Safari.

The Safari may not come with a proper 4x4 system, but you still have various off-road modes. Using a conveniently located dial right next to the gear lever, you can switch between normal, wet road or rough road modes to get more traction out of your vehicle if you’re stuck in tricky situations. However, what you may still not like about this car when compared to the Scorpio-N are its NVH levels. You get a slightly silent cabin inside the latter, on the Safari the sound of the engine creeps in a bit more, more so while accelerating hard.

Tata Safari Global NCAP 1

Safari is the highest rated made-in-India car in Global NCAP crash tests.

One critical feature you only get on the Safari is the presence of Level 2 ADAS functions. They add value to the car, make it safer and it doesn’t matter if you’re driving out on the highway or in the city multiple features make your drive easier and safer. While the Safari comes with a 360-view camera the Scorpio-N only gets front and rear parking cameras. The latter takes pride in ventilated disc brakes while TPMS, ESC, Hill hold and hill descent control are present in both SUVs. The Safari though gets advanced ESP with a driver doze-off alert.

Mahindra Scorpio N ANCAP

The Scorpio-N has also proven itself as a safe set of wheels.

Be it Global NCAP or even Bharat NCAP now, the Safari is right up there when it comes to safety ratings. So, 5-stars and even with 5-stars it is the highest-rated car that is made in India, so you’re guaranteed a safe set of wheels. Not that the Scorpio is much far behind so you’re getting two safe cars today in this battle. But what you get on Safari is one extra airbag which is a knee airbag for the driver, that is a nice addition to this car. Also, 6 airbags are standard on the SUV unlike the Scorpio-N.

The Diesel range of the Scorpio-N starts at Rs.13.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 24.54 lakh, ex-showroom for the top Z8L 4WD. The top 6-seater is priced at Rs. 22.47 lakh. The Safari on the other hand is priced between Rs. 16.19 and Rs. 27.34 lakh ex-showroom for the top Accomplished+ Automatic Dark.

So, to answer the big question finally, should you be spending those extra close to Rs. 3 lakh and buy the Safari? Well, absolutely because it’s not every day that you end up buying a car worth Rs. 30 lakhs on the road. With all its features and ergonomics, the Safari comes across as a much better package that caters to the needs of the entire family, and it does make sense to spend those extra bucks on buying a car like this. However, if you’re somebody who purely loves to drive and spend long hours in the driver's seat or go out off-roading, there then the Scorpio-N comes across as a slightly better bet.

Tata Safari facelift vs Mahindra Scorpio N

Tata Motors launched the Safari facelift in India earlier this month with a host of updates. The updated iteration of the premium SUV, which is Tata Motors' flagship car as well, comes with a wide range of design changes, fresh features and an upgraded engine as well. With this facelifted iteration, the homegrown automaker has re-energised its competition with the rival brands in the segment.

Tata Safari facelift comes revising its appeal in the premium SUV segment, which has been witnessing an increasing number of models over the last few years. Mahindra being one of the major players in the Indian SUV market has updated its Scorpio range with two different models a few months back: Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N. With the arrival of the updated Tata Safari, the competition between the two homegrown automakers has been re-energised.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs Tata Safari: Specs Comparison

Photo of author

We pit the Mahindra Scorpio-N against the Tata Safari on grounds of specifications

Mahindra has launched the new Scorpio-N at super-aggressive prices. 2022 Scorpio, as a package is, absolutely compelling and would surely put up a massive fight in the D SUV segment. Going by its prices and the Indian roots, one of the strongest rivals to the Scorpio N could be the Tata Safari. Let’s compare these in terms of specifications. But before we do so, please take note that the new Safari is underpinned by a monocoque chassis while the Scorpio-N is based on a ladder-frame platform, and thus the A-B comparison would have its own limitations and Grey areas.

Mahindra Scorpio-N vs Tata Safari: Dimensions And Design

Both the Scorpio N and Safari are good-looking SUVs. They have tall, butch, and imposing stances. The Scorpio N gets a design that’s way too loud about it being a ‘Scorpio’. It looks like an unmistakable evolution of the OG Mahindra Scorpio design. The key design highlights include LED headlamps, bold grille design, C-shaped DRLs integrated into the front bumper, stylish vertical tail lamps, functional roof rails, and stylish alloy wheels.

The Safari, on the other hand, looks sleeker and gets a design that bears an uncanny resemblance to that of the Harrier, on which it is based on. The vertical split headlamp, stylish tail lamp, and catchy side profile designs are to be loved on this SUV. The roof rails here, however, are show-pieces and incapable of any serious load-bearing. Diving into the dimensions…

2021 Tata Safari Review

As the figures suggest, the new Scorpio is significantly wider and taller than the Safari. It thus looks more rugged and brawny than the Tata. The overall length, however, remains identical for the two. The ScorpioN also has an advantage in the wheelbase. How this would reflect in the overall dynamics and body balance, is something we would have to find out in our first-drive, which is yet to happen!

Mahindra Scorpio-N vs Tata Safari: Features And Cabin Experience

Not much can be commented on this until we get the Scorpio N for a detailed road test. But, going by our first impressions of the cabin experiences in these vehicles, it is definitely the Scorpio N that scores for kit levels and the ‘touch and feel’ qualities. Though a rather personal thing, I find the new Scorpio’s cabin to have better aesthetics. It looks good and feels premium and considerably more up-to-date than that of the Safari. In terms of features, the Scorpio 2022 seems to offer more than what the Tata does.

The entertainment package consists of an 8.8-inch touchscreen and 9-speaker JBL audio on the Safari and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 12-speaker Sony 3D immersive sound system on the Scorpio N. Both the cars get motorized driver seats too. Two notable differences between the two would be the sunroof and parking brake. The Safari gets a full panoramic sunroof while the ScorpioN settles down for a fair-sized regular sunroof. Also, the Mahindra gets a conventional parking brake (which could be much more fun than an electronic unit!) while the Safari features an electric park brake.

The Safari currently holds the title of having the most comfortable third row. The new Scorpio seems to have slightly lesser space on its last row. However, we can give you an authentic opinion on this only after getting to drive one in detail.

Mahindra Scorpio-N vs Tata Safari: Specifications

As mentioned earlier in the article, the Scorpio is a ladder-on-frame SUV while the Safari is underpinned by a monocoque chassis. This would be evident in the overall dynamics of these SUVs. Talking of powertrains, the Scorpio-N offers the choice of a 2.0 mStallion turbocharged petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel. The Safari, on the other hand, is available with a 2.0L diesel alone. Several reports suggest that Tata Motors is prepping a petrol version of this SUV. Anyway, comparing the equivalent diesels for now…

The Scorpio-N seems to be torquier than the Safari, and going by the general traits of the mHawk engine, the new Scorpio should be slightly better than the Tata in overall performance. Also, the Safari is a front-wheel-driven vehicle. The Scorpio-N on the other hand gets 4WD on top-spec variants (an advanced 4XPLOR terrain management system is on offer too) while the lower trims get RWD. (RWD could offer more fun on an SUV than FWD!) The Scorpio-N could simply take more abuse, scale more terrains, and be pushed to extreme conditions, than the Safari.

Mahindra Scorpio-N vs Tata Safari: Price Comparison

Mahindra has revealed the prices of the manual variants of Scorpio N . Priced in the 12.49-19.49 lakh bracket, the Scorpio N has a massive pricing upper hand. The Safari is currently priced between 18.12 lakh and 26.14 lakh, ex-showroom. In this scenario, the Scorpio variants could make much more sense than the Tatas.

mahindra scorpio-n

The Scorpio N automatic prices and the 4WD prices are yet to be out. But going by how aggressively Mahindra has recently been pricing their products, we expect wonders with these as well. The automatics ending below 24 lakh, ex-showroom could mean epic VFM proportions. The Safari automatics are retailing in the 21.31-27.65 lakh price range (The Safari XZA Plus 6 seater AT Dark Edition is much pricier, at Rs 29.30 lakh, ex-sh).

The Mahindra Scorpio-N and new-generation Tata Safari are two SUVs which have a rich legacy behind them, spanning more than two decades of successful runs. These two SUVs are taking forward the legacy of their respective predecessors in whole new modernized forms, with all new-generation design languages with contemporary features, new powertrains and driving dynamics. However, it is tough to find the better among the two SUVs, and which one more suits the varying requirements and preferences of different people. A YouTube video from ‘Team Car Delight’ compares various aspects of both these SUVs to help you find out the basics of the comparison between the two SUVs.

Starting with the design first, the two SUVs look extremely bold and unique in their ways. However, it is the Mahindra Scorpio-N which looks more evolved form of its predecessor, as the Safari has an all-new design language which is a huge departure from the previous-generation Safari Storme. Also, while the Scorpio-N has a sideways-opening back door like its predecessor, the boot lid of the Safari opens upwards.

The Scorpio-N retains the bold appearance of the previous generation Scorpio with its tall and boxy stance. However, it gets new-age elements like LED projector headlamps, C-shaped daytime running LEDs, diamond-cut alloy wheels and vertically-aligned LED tail lamps. In contrast, the Tata Safari is nothing like its predecessor and gets a Harrier-derived styling with a stretched rear profile to make it a seven-seater SUV. The split headlamps, horizontally-stretched LED tail lamps and layered roof panels make it look unique.

All-new Mahindra Scorpio-N and Tata Safari compared on video

On the inside, the all-new interior of the Mahindra Scorpio-N looks more refreshing than that of the Tata Safari, which is now almost a three-year-old design. While the Scorpio-N has a more upright stance, it offers a higher seating posture compared to the Tata Safari. In the Scorpio-N, the driver has a clearer and more commanding view of the road ahead. However, it is the Tata Safari which offers easier ingress, egress and comfort levels on the inside. The Safari also gets AC vents for the third row of seats, which the Scorpio-N misses.

Both the SUVs here come with dual-tone leather upholsteries – black and brown in the Scorpio-N and black and ivory white in the Safari. While the dashboard layout of the Safari feels more premium and wide due to the use of soft-touch leather trims, the quality of switches feels better in the Scorpio-N due to the piano black finish for them. While the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is smaller than the 8.8-inch unit of the Safari, the former feels more intuitive to use and packs in more features such as in-built navigation. The 12-speaker 3D sound system from Sony in the Scorpio-N also feels more advanced than the 9-speaker sound system from JBL in the Safari. However, it is the Safari, which offers more comfort and convenience features, including a panoramic sunroof, telescopic steering wheel, air purifier and ventilated seats.

Engine options

Coming to the powertrain options, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is available with both petrol and diesel engines, while the Tata Safari is available as a diesel-only SUV. The Tata Safari has a power output of 170 PS and a torque output of 350 Nm from its 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is available with both the options of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options.

On the other hand, the 2.2-litre diesel engine of the Scorpio-N is available in multiple states of tune across variants for 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, with maximum power and torque outputs rated at 175 PS and 400 Nm respectively. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 203 PS of power, while the torque output produced is 370 Nm with the 6-speed manual and 380 Nm with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Scorpio-N has an additional upper hand, as it also gets the option of a four-wheel-drive system for diesel-powered variants.

So, there you have it. If you want a proper, traditional, ladder-on-frame SUV which feels at home on off-road terrains as well, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is the one to go with. However, the Tata Safari feels more premium SUV in the urban environment, with more features, space and a comfort-oriented cabin.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs. Tata Safari – Price & Specification Comparison

scorpio vs tata safari 2022

Mahindra has just launched the all-new next-generation 2022 Scorpio-N in India. The brand is touting it as the “Big Daddy of SUVs” and aiming to take on the D-segment and C-segment SUVs. Helping with this is Scorpio-N’s wide range of variants, powertrains and drivetrains. Mahindra has added an ‘N’ suffix and also brought the Scorpio nameplate back into focus.

Another company to bring an old nameplate into focus is Tata. The company launched the Harrier and then revived the Safari nameplate for its three-row version. The old Tata Safari was one of the biggest competitors of the Scorpio in the past. And now, with both in all-new avatars, they go head to head again. In this price and specification comparison, we pin and compare the two so that you can make an informed buying decision.

Lastly, the Gold Edition comes in two colour options – Gold White and Gold Black. It features various gold accents and black alloy wheels.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs. Tata Safari – Powertrain

Mahindra will offer the Scorpio-N with both petrol and diesel engine options. As for the petrol engine, it uses the same unit as the Thar and XUV700. The 2.0-litre TGDi mStallion engine uses a turbocharger and produces 200 PS of power and up to 380 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the diesel engine is Mahindra’s 2.2-litre mHawk engine that makes up to 175 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Both engines will come with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, higher diesel variants will also be available with a 4WD drivetrain.

On the other hand, the Tata Safari comes only with one engine option. It gets a 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine which delivers 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Like the Scorpio-N, it is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. However, unlike the Scorpio-N, it does not get an option of a 4WD drivetrain. And since it uses a monocoque chassis, it comes with a front-wheel-drive setup.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs. Tata Safari – Suspension, Brakes

Mahindra claims the Scorpio-N will have the best-in-class front and first-in-category rear suspension setup. At the front, the Scorpio-N uses a Double-Wishbone suspension with Coil over shocks. While at the back, it gets a Pentalink suspension with WATT’s Linkage. Both the front and rear also feature first-in-category Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) and Multi-tuned Valve Central Land (MTV-CL).

On the other hand, Tata’s Safari uses an independent, lower wishbone and McPherson Strut with Coil Spring and an anti-roll bar at the front. At the same, the rear uses a semi-independent twist blade with Panhard Rod and Coil Spring.

As for the brakes, both the SUVs use disc brakes at both ends.
