Hope Community Church believes in local & global outreach. We take life-changing, short-term missions trips with our partner organizations all over the world.  We also provide opportunities to serve our local community, giving a place for everyone to be involved.

Jesus left us with a final command to go into all the world and make disciples. At Hope Community Church, our mission is to introduce members of our local faith community to how we are involved in furthering the Gospel, both foreign and stateside, and to support our partner missionaries in the field.

Available Trips

Jesus did not come to be served but to serve, and that is the heart of Hope Community Church.  We have local outreach teams that serve our community partners on a regular basis, and we also have one-time serve opportunities throughout the year.

Multiply Through Missions

At Hope Community Church, we believe that our call to make disciples extends from our immediate community all the way to the ends of the earth.  In fact, Christ has commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations.  The necessity of believing in the message of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection for salvation transcends all languages, cultures, and ethnicities.  In order to fulfill our call to reach the nations, we must be willing to carry the gospel message to where Christ is not known.  Every person at our church can play a vital role in international missions through praying, giving, and going.

One way we work to accomplish taking the gospel to the whole world is through supporting long-term missionaries on the field.  While we support a variety of mission efforts around the world, we desire to focus our funds on long-term missionaries who strive to make disciples through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.  Each year, we designate 10% of our total budget to further these causes.  If you would like to pray for specific strategies or financially support one of our long-term missionaries, please stop by Starting Point to find out more information.

Another way we work to carry the gospel message to all nations is through short-term mission trips.  Our short-term mission trips at HCC will always seek to serve two main purposes: to help further a long-term missionary’s strategy and to empower foreign nationals to reach their own people with the gospel message.  We offer a number of short-term mission trips each year so that you can engage in effective international missions work.  If you are interested in more information about these trips, please contact our Lead Pastor, Matt Carsner, at [email protected] .

Hope Community Church

Until All Have Heard

As a church, we are called to be a part of the Great Commission: to make disciples of all nations.

Missions: as a common buzzword today, can be hard to define. If you polled 10 people right now on how they define missions, you’ll likely get 11 different responses! Is it evangelism, feeding the poor, business as mission, or translating the Bible? Does it happen across the ocean? Does it happen across the street? Is it applicable for only those who are sent out to do cross-cultural missions in different nations, or is it the call of every Christian? Some advocate for the extremes, “missions is all or nothing!”

At Hope Community Church, we think that all believers are sent and should be “on mission”; however, for clarity of terms, we use the word “missions” to describe those who are pursuing being “on mission” in a cross-cultural manner.

Hope Community Church defines missions as the advancement of the kingdom of God by starting cross-cultural, God-glorifying, cross-centered, gospel-focused, biblically-sound, culturally-relevant, impactful, reproducing churches (assemblies) to help as many people as possible become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Going to the nations.

Many believers are burdened for the peoples whom have never heard the name of our savior Jesus Christ. God is drawing his people to bring the revelation of his saving grace to the unreached. Goers are those that desire to step into cross-cultural missions as church-planters, business-as-mission entrepreneurs, and more.

Sending Workers

Senders leverage their resources, skills, and time to support the work of those engaged in ministry. They provide moral support, logistics support, financial support, prayer support, communication support, and re-entry support for those serving at home and abroad.

Welcoming Internationals

Students from all over the world travel to study at universities, technical institutions, and community colleges. Welcomers see the strategic opportunity they have to share the Gospel with internationals right here at home. The world is at your door. Open up your life and welcome them in.

Mission Mobilization

The laborers are plentiful, but the workers are few. the body of Christ has work to do of epic proportions. However, many believers never ask how they can live more strategically for the Kingdom. With our finite time on this planet, we cannot afford to let years slip by without a God-sized vision directing how and where we are going to spend the majority of our time, talent, energy, and resources. Mobilizers inspire, mentor, and connect individuals to strategic opportunities to live and work within God’s global purpose.

Praying for the Nations

Prayer warriors are those that are on their knees for the nations, missionaries, and the advancement of God’s Kingdom in those places that currently have no access to the Gospel. Those who are suffering under tyranny, poverty, oppression, corruption, and lack of Jesus’ presence need God’s people to humble themselves and pray. Praying for the nations will change your life and change the world.

Get Involved

Hope community church global.

The Hope Community Church Global team prayerfully and strategically aims to glorify God by exposing, educating, and equipping the people of Hope Community Church to move across cultural divides and help bring the gospel to the world and make disciples of all people through global church-planting. The key question we ask for each of those roles is as follows:

Expose — How can we help move people from unaware to aware?

Educate — How can we help move people from aware to concerned?

Equip  — How can we help move people from concerned to engaged?

Sending & Support

For some of you, God has laid it on your heart to go. We’re so encouraged by that! If you’re seeking to be sent by Hope, here is where to start. All prospective missionaries seeking Hope affiliation will self-select one of the three following categories:

These levels of support are provided to aid prospective missionaries in understanding Hope’s priorities in mission, funding, accountability, and review.

Common questions.

You could join another team that is already going on the mission trip. You could also pull together your own team of at least 12 from your campus, church, organization, family, or friends. Other options include things like corporate team-building/retreats, trips just for women, fathers and sons, high school groups, college groups, etc.

Well…how fast can you pack?!? Seriously though – choose dates that work for you and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule.

Most participants say, “Not long enough!” Typical trips last one week – one travel day to the location, four days of filter distribution and ministry, one day of recreation and cultural experiences, and one travel day back home. Can’t go for a week? No problem! Ask us about a mid-week or long weekend trip.

We currently have ministry bases in 11 countries – Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti*, Honduras, Mexico and Panama. *We’re unable to send to our base in Haiti due to the current unrest there.

Our model is wonderfully unique:

  • Our local church partners prepare the neighborhoods and families your team will visit.
  • Trip participants are divided into small groups and paired with a translator and a representative from the church to visit homes.
  • You’ll provide families with a water filter , and an opportunity to hear how much God loves them. We also provide Spanish New Testaments for your team to give each family.
  • Our local church partners follow up with the families that your team visits, and disciple those who pray to receive Christ. So your team can have confidence that the ministry they are involved in during their trip is sustainable and continues long after they leave through the work of the local church.

Your mornings and afternoons are spent connecting with families in the communities of our church partners; getting to know them; providing them with a water filter; and sharing the gospel. Evenings are spent connecting with your team about your experiences and how the Lord is working. There are always a few special surprises we try to throw in that allow your team to see and experience the local culture.

We provide accommodations designed to allow you to rest and refuel:

  • All housing is clean and secure in safe neighborhoods.
  • Most bedrooms have air conditioning, unless lodging is at higher altitudes with cooler temps.
  • The food is totally safe, incredibly delicious, and dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
  • We supply plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated and use when brushing teeth.

We pride ourselves in providing safe, fun, and life-changing 7-day mission trips at pricing anyone can afford:

  • All-inclusive in-country cost: $800
  • 5 Filter of Hope water filters: $200
  • Team Fun Day: $50
  • Airfare: Pricing varies by location

We even provide you with tools and tips to help you raise money for your trip.

You will absolutely have all the help you need to make this trip a success! We handle all the details.

  • Your team will be assigned a Filter of Hope trip planner who will walk you through each step of the process, including an FOH Staff member in-country on the trip.
  • Our goal is to handle as many of the details and logistics for you as possible.
  • Hundreds of people will have clean drinking water right in their own home – for the next 10 years!
  • Many will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
  • Your team will grow close by serving together, and carry a new excitement for ministry back home with them.
  • Your team will definitely grow confident in sharing their faith .
  • You can build leaders in your church, campus ministry, or organization. Oh, and you can bet your life will change, too!

WHAT WILL I DO ON MY MISSION TRIP?

At Mission of Hope, we partner with local pastors and leaders and ask, “What does your community need to be transformed?” Your trip will be spent serving alongside these incredible people to meet the needs of their communities. There are a variety of ministry opportunities, including youth programs, community evangelism, small construction projects, and mobile medical clinics. By working alongside these indigenous leaders, your impact will last long after you return home. Two core components of our mission trips are strategic ministry time and church advancement projects .

HOPEGO: MORE THAN A MISSION TRIP

For the past 20 years, Mission of Hope has had the opportunity to lead and facilitate mission trips.

We’ve seen two main things as a result of trips: 1) the advancement of the local church and 2) lives transformed of those serving on trips.

HopeGo facilitates meaningful ministry experiences by serving alongside the local church to reach every man, woman, and child with the Gospel.

Terre Haute church hosts 10th youth fundraiser dinner

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A local church held a fundraiser Sunday evening to support youth in the community.

Maryland Community Church’s 10th annual student missions fundraiser looks to raise money that will go towards allowing families access to mission trips and other programs.

Sunday’s event included a meal, as well as a number of auctions for the dozens on hand. Student pastor Vince Chan said this is an important night for the organization each year.

“We come and raise funds to our students, to provide scholarships and go to camps as well as our local missions project,” Chan said. “That has served the city and Hope Week so that if there’s ever a student who says their financial unable to go, we say, ‘no worries, we go ahead and take care of it.'”

In 2023, the event raised over $38,000 and the hope was to raise even more in 2024.
