We just visited Scotland with Greg of Guided Tours of Scotland as our driver and guide. Greg's knowledge of and passion for Scotland added an amazing level of depth to the trip. Not needing to drive on unfamiliar roads made for a trip in which we could immerse ourselves in the experience itself instead of the stress of navigating roadways we did not know. Guided Tours of Scotland is a fabulous way to see and experience a beautiful country.
Greg Kain at Guided Tours of Scotland was fabulous. He far exceeded our expectations with his graciousness, flexibility, knowledge, and overall wonderful disposition. He was patient with three temperamental teenagers and even more so with our 5 year old. He felt like a family member after 48hrs together. I've been to Scotland many times, but I learned and appreciated the country on a new level thanks to Greg and his wealth of knowledge. He always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. If we threw him a curveball (My wife really wanted to see some Highland steers) he handled it with ease. Not only do I highly recommend him, I insist you use Guided Tours of Scotland. Whenever we are back, which I hope is soon, we certainly will again.
Greg Kain from GST in the cap. The rest of us bidding him farewell at the end of the trip.

Hi Joshua, Thank you very much for your kind words, it was an absolute pleasure to be driver and guide for your lovely family, they were all absolute stars! I enjoyed our conversations about music very much and the visit to Girnigoe Castle was very special. I hope that you will make it back to Scotland in the not too distant future, and if so, then please do not hesitate to contact me. Warm regards Greg.
We spent 2 days with Greg and enjoyed every minute. Greg was patient, knowledgeable, and flexible. We gave him some ideas of places to visit and he did the rest. We enjoyed his commentary and got a glimpse of the political and social issues in this beautiful country. We are already planning our next trip and Greg will definitely be part of our plan!

Golf, whiskey and sightseeing: Guided Tours of Scotland with Greg Kain
We were 8 golfers and whiskey enthusiasts from Brasil. We travelled to Aberdeen,St Andrews and Troon in August 2023 to play golf and visit some distilleries. Absolutely fantastic service from our driver and guide Greg Kain of Guided Tours of Scotland: lots of historical information and a very comfortable vehicle for our transport between the various cities with excellent choices for our lunch stops. Many thanks for the outstanding service. Highly recommended.
This is a hidden treasure for anyone who is interested in the history of how law is interpreted. Ph dear, what I just said sounds tedious. This place is not! A history exhibit is on the lower floor and courtrooms are open. Lovely clean Cafe is on the lower floor with light fare and a quiet spot to rest after being at the Abbey.
We joined the British Museum Guided tour on Aug 20, 2032. We definitely made a right decision. Especially for people who doesn't have many idea where to start in a museum. Guide was very knowledge and friendly. Also took care how we feel and always asked what we would be more interested. He made us feel like having a private tour, but didn't pay as much. Totally recommend this tour if you only certain time to enjoy the museum.
My wife booked this as a birthday present. As an approved mental health professional I work with mental health law on a daily basis. This is where all the big cases are heard in the UK and to some degree, the commonwealth! Still new in reality but steeped in history around the law. A real geeks paradise!!!
We had a 24 hour pass so took the tour on consecutive days. Day one..no guide…It was horrid. The tour audio didnt work and it would start explaining something then stop part way through and went on the the next sight. So it would say “ and the most interesting thing about this pub is…..on your left is St Marys Church where many famous people are buried including….the statue on your left is from 1866 and was created by…..” it made the trip awful. Day Two…Live guide Dominic…he was funny, entertaining and gave us loads of information on all the sights as well as buildings we passed. He answered questions easily and gave great commentary on the tour and life in general in London. We loved it. So…if you dont get a live tour, DO NOT GO ON THIS HOP ON HOP OFF. If you do, you will love it.
This turned out to be a Walking Tour that we honestly could have done for free! Though the Guide was friendly he did not provide significant information. The reservation said it could be canceled or a different Tour would be offered if not enough people purchased & this is exactly what should have happened

What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Scotland
4th tour with this company (but they have become family). Not a photo stop/on and off the bus tour. Macbackpackers let’s you explore Scotland and really soak it in. Whether it’s spending a few hours at Glencoe to see who can hike to the top, or having a drink at a gorgeous viewpoint, there is no feeling rushed or that you have missed out. If anything, you get the opportunity to get off the beaten track and see hidden gems that only the locals would know of and give a more authentic Scottish experience!
Me and my friend took the 3 day Isle of Skye tour and it exceeded all our expectations. We were lucky to have sunny weather and see the aurora lights but more than that we got really lucky with our tour guide Branka. She had such a positive energy, there was no problem she wouldn’t be able to solve and she had an interesting story to tell about all locations we went to ( plus the whole playlist of music we listen was carefully selected just for the trip). I wouldn’t usually go for a bus tour while on holiday but this one exceeded all my expectations. It’s a great way to see Scotland and learn about the history and culture. Thank you Branka, you’re the best :-) I’ll definitely join your tour again when I’m in Scotland.
The tour started fine; more time in Glasgow would have been better. All we had was a ten-minute bus tour through Glasgow without any information about what was there. At the end of the day, all we got from the tour guide was restaurant suggestions. The travel packet states that we stopped at Loch Ness, but we did not. The tour guide stopped off the road at a parking lot, and we had to walk up a road to look through some bushes and trees and see a partial castle, apparently on Loch Ness. If you were short, you wouldn’t get to see anything. That does not stop at Loch Ness, and the stop at Loch Ness is also listed as a tour highlight for the day, which didn’t happen. There were so many stops we could have made but didn’t. When we stopped at Glenfinnan, the tour guide only talked about the Harry Potter reference, no mention of the Jacobite monument. The tour was constantly filled with Harry Potter references, the guide’s political opinions, and insufficient historical references. No one cares what the tour guide’s political views are; just do your job. Also, at the same stop, it was the only stop with food available, and there was only a little café where several people did not get their orders after they paid, and the tour guide did not care. Some of the people on the tour also missed the monument because the tour guide did not mention it. The Aberdeen Altens Hotel was a complete disaster. The hotel was out in the middle of nowhere. If you didn’t go on the optional excursion, then you were stranded at the hotel with minimal options, such as a pool, where you had to make an appointment to use. It was not available, the hotel had an escape room in the basement which sounds like to beginning of a horror movie, but thankfully it was not open that day, or you could take a taxi where the closet place was a ten minute drive. Still, everything was closed that day, and the taxis don’t drive around the city, so you must remember to take down the number to get back to the hotel. Also, the dinner at this hotel was a disaster; it took over three hours to get through a substandard dinner. The chicken was dry, the potatoes were terrible, the fishcakes were overcooked, and even the dessert was awful. The tour guide didn’t even stay for dinner, and then the following day, she explained that Globus knew about the problem with the amount of time it takes to get dinner and that there was nothing they could do about it. Yes, there is; use a different hotel, location, etc. The fact that this is a known problem and Globus does nothing is despicable. This hotel and location are terrible choices by Globus. The tour of The Royal Yacht Britannia was a waste of time. It seems like it was just a time waster until dinner. Overall, this tour was below satisfactory and not worth the money.

"Such a great tour. Very active and on-the-go, so we were able to make the most of the time outdoors (instead of a bus). The tour itinerary has some flexibility and shuffling around which is great so you can dodge traffic, incidents. Travelling with young, like minded people. Shoutout to Branka for making this tour so fun, she knew all the best spots (avoiding people!), her enthusiasm and wealth of history knowledge. Highly recommend, 5 stars.

"Had to call Globus three times before trip to get the final travel packet. Each time I called ,was told that someone would take care of this. Bus driver Glenn and tour guide Clive were great. Mic on bus kept cutting out and the people in the back of the bus could not hear. Would have like to have spent a day in Belfast and seen the Titanic museum ,All that Belfast was just a bathroom break and all I saw of Belfast was the washroom inside City Hall. If we had spent a day in Belfast I, wouldn't been so tried by the time we got to Scotland. Also would have like to have another in York. When we returned to London, somewhere from the time the bus arrived at the hotel till they unloaded the bags and put them on the luggage cart and bought them to the room, the porter broke my bag and the wheel came off. When I reported this to the hotel was told " these things happen", too bad, so sad " have your insurance company buy you a new bag". I had to try to get back home with a big with three wheel.

Islands Distillery Tour. A Scotch Whisky Tour of the islands is the most logistically complicated to undertake owing to the geographical spread of the Hebrides Islands and Northern Isles. Jura is best combined with a trip to the distilleries of Islay and Arran can be combined with Campbeltown or Bladnoch distillery in Galloway.

I would highly recommend Greg Kain/ Guided Tours of Scotland. My wife and I and 2 friends recently had a half day tour of Glasgow including 4 addresses relating to my great grandparents in the 1880s prior to their emigration. Greg took us on a very interesting tour which included these addresses and other attractions of Glasgow, and then transferred us to our next destination in North Berwick.
