Jack Johnson Announces 2022 Summer Tour [Video]

Jack Johnson has announced a lengthy 2022 summer tour that will see him perform at amphitheaters across the United States beginning in June. The tour will feature several special guests throughout, including Durand Jones & The Indications ,  Ziggy Marley ,  Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals ,  Lake Street Dive , and more.

Kicking things off on June 21st at Gilford, NH’s  Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion , Johnson will then head through New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, and Illinois with Durand Jones & The Indications in tow. Following a light July schedule that includes just three performances in Michigan, Indiana, and Toronto, Canada, Jack Johnson will cruise into August with much of the 30-date tour left on the calendar.

Two Florida shows in West Palm Beach (8/18) and Tampa (8/19) will lead to stops in Alpharetta, GA (8/20); Raleigh, NC (8/21); Charlotte, NC (8/23); and Nashville, TN (8/24). A three-night run in Texas, including Woodlands (8/26), Del Valle (8/27), and Dallas (8/28), will set up a show at Englewood, CO’s  Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre  on August 31st.

Johnson will roll into Salt Lake City, UT (9/2) to jump-start his September run of shows, followed by Stateline, NV (9/4); George, WA (9/24); Bend, OR (9/25); Troutdale, OR (9/26); and Berkeley, CA (9/28). Jack Johnson will then close out his 2022 summer tour with shows at Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Bowl  (10/1); a two-night run at  Santa Barbara Bowl  (10/4–10/5); and Chula Vista, CA’s  North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre  (10/7).

Tickets for all tour dates go on sale Friday, December 10th, at 10 a.m. local time. A presale for Citi cardmembers will begin Tuesday, December 7th at 10 a.m. local and run through December 9th at 10 p.m. A fan presale will begin on Wednesday, December 8th, at 10 a.m. local.

All net proceeds earned through Platinum and Premium ticketing programs will be donated to the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support All At Once non-profit partners in communities near each concert. In addition, two dollars from every ticket will support the environment, with half directed to carbon offset projects and the other half to support the All At Once non-profit partners and their environmental projects, plastic-free initiatives, and food security efforts.

Jack Johnson Announces North American Summer Tour

Jack Johnson has announced he’ll be touring across North America this summer. The 30-date event will kick off on June 21 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, N.H. with stops at arenas and amphitheaters in Chicago, Alpharetta, Ga., Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and many more. The tour will come to a close on Oct. 7 at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif.

“It’s been a while since the band, and I have gotten together to play music. We can’t wait to see all our friends on the road next summer and looking forward to a great tour,” Johnson wrote in a press release, “Hope to see you at a show! Aloha.”

Johnson will be joined at various stops along the tour by Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Lake Street Dive, Ziggy Marley, Durand Jones & The Indications, and Ron Artis II & Thunderstorm Artis.

It’s going to be a super chilled out day, perfect for laying back on the lawn and watching the clouds roll by as Jack sings to you in his famously melodic voice, you really can't get more chilled than this all summer.

In 2019 Jack Johnson released the single "New Axe" which was featured on the holiday-classics compilation album, This Warm December Vol. 3, from Jack Johnson and friends. During the lockdowns Jack did a "Together at Home" Instagram Live stream concert in March 2020, which was the third most watched stream on the Global Citizen YouTube, he also performed at the One World: Together at Home concert, and a live version of his song "Better Together" was featured on the album. Later in September 2020 once lockdowns eased he performed the opening set at Farm Aid: On the Road.

Jack’s latest single is titled "The Captain Is Drunk," and it came out in December 2020, with 177,000 Spotify streams after one day, and amassed a huge 573,000 streams in its first week. In April 2021 Jack and Paula Fuga released the song “If Ever” with collaboration from Ben Harper, charting at number 24 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart.

Jack and the band will be hitting the road for Jack Johnson’s Summer Tour 2022 at USANA Amphitheater on Friday, September 2nd, 2022. Live Review: Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley- Meet the Moonlight Tour -Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre on August 19, 2022

Jack Johnson and his Meet the Moonlight Tour, which included Ziggy Marley, landed at Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre on August 19 th .  The sky was dark and ominous as one of Florida’s typical summer rains moved east across the state. It was just dry enough (yet a humid sauna) for the sold-out concert which reeked of peace, summer, and love.

There were a lot of dreadlocks and the odor of ganja in the air by the time Ziggy Marley arrived on stage. Backed by a full band Marley performed Bob Marley & the Wailers’ hits such as “One Love” and “Get Up, Stand Up”.  Even though the floor was jam packed with bodies, the crowd moved and swayed with the reggae beat. There truly was a feeling of peace and harmony in the air.

Jack Johnson came out on stage with an acoustic guitar and performed a catalog of favorites from the last 20 years. The crowd was singing along to every song and really enjoying the easy going vibe. Jack Johnson’s music is definitely “feel good”. Considering all the charitable work he has done for the environment and the arts it is no wonder his energy is positive. Many concert goers were wearing environmental and climate change slogans on their t-shirts.

Johnson paid his respect to Marley explaining the first concert he attended at age 16 was Ziggy Marley’s band.

Overall, it was an evening of good vibes and a sense of community.

**Rock At Night photographed the bands and stayed for the customary first three songs of each band. Hence, the review was written from what was observed at that time. We heard Johnson and Marley shared the stage for a song later in the evening.

Not even a two-hour weather delay could sour the mood at Thursday night’s performance by Jack Johnson and special guest Ziggy Marley. The crowd filed in after being told to wait in their vehicles until the booming storm clouds passed and those who had been huddled under the canopy of the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre picked up their folding chairs and moved out to the sold-out lawn seats. The “ooh”s and “ah”s at the crackling sky soon gave way to an ecstatic roar when Ziggy Marley at last made his way to the stage.

The crowd had waited long enough, so without further ado Marley jumped right into “Tomorrow People” from his 1988 Grammy-winning album, Conscious Party . Multi-colored light poles scattered across the stage rhythmically flashed green, red and yellow as the melody maker of reggae royalty grooved through his set list, which included a cover of his father’s “Get Up Stand Up” (to which the crowd obliged) and the soulful reggae-pop ballad “Beach in Hawaii,” which had the whole audience singing along. The true standouts of the performance, though, might just have been Marley’s background singers, whose rousing rap verses electrified muscles atrophied by the long wait time. After playing his new single “The Lucky One” (dedicated to his wife, Orly), Marley closed out his roughly 35-minute set joined by two of his children who added some endearing kiddie dance moves to a spirited performance of “Look Who’s Dancin’.”

Marley’s performance had zapped any languor from the crowd by the time Jack Johnson took the stage at 10:30. He took a brief moment to apologize for the inclement weather before playing “If I Had Eyes” to kick off a truly mesmerizing set with stand-out instrumentals from the band, hits both classic and new, and a few amusing anecdotes peppered between and within songs.

Johnson’s stop in West Palm Beach was the 14th on the American leg of his 2022 Meet the Moonlight tour promoting the eponymous album that dropped in June of this year. While much of the performance comprised classic tracks (including a heartfelt rendition of “High Tide or Low Tide,” for which he brought Ziggy Marley onstage to perform), a few songs from his latest release were played early on, including “One Step Ahead”.

The stage effects for most of the show were a pleasant complement to the music, with a giant half-circle displaying a rotating cast of shots featuring pattering raindrops, drifting clouds and green isles afloat a shimmering sea, but at times the stage lights glowed so bright that many in the crowd had to briefly shield their eyes. But the overstimulation was quickly forgiven by the crowd that was singing along, clapping and slow-dancing through some of the favorites from Johnson’s 20-year-plus catalog.

If there’s a single aspect of Johnson’s performance that deserves a particular shout-out, it has to be keyboardist Zach Gill. For most of the set, Gill was standing at the keyboard hammering the keys like a man possessed and adding a soulful jive swing to classic hits like “Sitting Waiting Wishing.” In addition to his unforgettable keyboard prowess, Gill also stood out with solos on both the accordion and melodica, the latter of which he performed during a medley of “Bubble Toes” and the eternally singalong-friendly “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band.

Jack Johnson’s music is appealing for anyone who’s enjoyed sitting with friends around a campfire. His acoustic rhythms, simple yet endearing lyrics and joyful delivery make any gathering feel just a bit more intimate and enjoyable. This feeling permeated the entire set, from “Never Know” about accepting life’s uncertainty to “Breakdown” about seeing your way through hardship. The crowd’s enthusiasm seemed to build ever-higher with each song, and so did Johnson’s. For a musician who’s been performing for nearly 30 years, he plays with the passion of someone who just picked up a guitar for the first time. His love for his craft couldn’t be more evident than when he took to the stage for the show’s encore.

The audience didn’t have to wait long after Johnson left the stage before he returned, accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. With no other instruments, Johnson reminded the audience of the small, personal scale that first made his music so lovable. Starting the encore with a beautiful performance of “Do You Remember” about meeting his wife of 29 years, he also played the Jimmy Buffett favorite “A Pirate Looks at 40,” and told the story of when Jimmy Buffett came to his house and Johnson’s babysitter, expecting the plumber, directed the Margaritaville King to the bathroom to fix a clogged toilet. To cap off the night, Johnson closed with “Better Together,” and the whole audience joined in singing along.
