Friendly Animals & Certified Teachers

Our year-round traveling Petting Zoo & Pony parties and events are run by certified teachers who have experience creating fun and excitement for children and adults.  Our animals are sweet, friendly, healthy, and loved, and we are committed to making your event an unforgettable experience!  We specialize in schools, camps, assisted living facilities, and private birthday events that prefer a hands-on, interactive experience. We also offer a multi-week "Animals Teach" character education program for schools!

Fun, Exciting & Interactive

We pride ourselves on being a step above other pony & petting zoo events by creating a magical, fun, educational and interactive experience for your guests.  Our set up is clean and professional and we actually run the event to ensure that guests are enjoying their time with us!  We will also work with you to customize the party or event to your theme and ensure that it runs smoothly, safely and with the utmost level of professionalism. We also offer Unicorn themed pony parties!

Safety First & Fully Insured

As experienced professionals, we will ensure that all of your guests are safe and having fun!  We are fully insured and our animals are vetted and handled with safety as our main priority at all times.  We also ensure that your indoor or outdoor location is left in pristine condition. During these times of social distancing, we are limiting the number of in-person events and following all COVID safety protocols..

Pony rides / horse rides.

We offer pony rental services and bring our pony to your location, whether it be your home, school, park, street fair, assisted living facility, or specialized location. One experienced handler will lead the pony, while a second person will assist and hold the rider. Our pony is fully decked out in your choice of color, complete with ribbons, and a matching saddle pad, halter, lead! And yes, we do offer a Unicorn Pony! For larger events, we can sometimes provide a second pony or a horse.

Petting Zoo

The Friendly Farmyard petting zoo consists of chickens, two bunnies, ducks, and twin goats. Our friendly menagerie is handled by us directly and guests are allowed to both pet and feed our animals. Our goats even walk on leashes! This is an interactive session that is fun and exciting and we welcome questions and comments from all! Do you have a favorite animal? Just ask us and we might be able to bring it to you!

Pony & Petting Zoo Options

You may choose the pony plus petting zoo option for two hours, or either the pony rides only or petting zoo only for an hour and a half. We do not typically offer one hour events. We are flexible to your needs should you need to adjust the length of the event to add more time. Just ask! We have customized many events, depending on the number of attendees, their ages, time constraints, and interests.

We are a fun addition to a variety of events including: Children's/Adult's Birthday Parties, School Events, Carnivals, Weddings, Street Fairs, Camps, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Graduations, Business Openings, Corporate Events, Easter, Christmas Live Nativities, and much more! Our animals are also very therapeutic and are available to visit assisted living facilities, hospitals, and hospice locations. WE DO NOT HAVE A LOCATION THAT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, however, we work with several event facility locations.

"Animals Teach" Program for Schools!

We offer a 6-12 week educational program for schools! Taught by certified teachers, we bring in different animals each week and incorporate the lessons into your curriculum. We also offer a character education program. This program is customized based on the age of the students and number of classes and covers subjects including anti-bulllying, empathy/compassion, responsibility, respect, perseverance, conflict resolution, inclusion, being yourself, and much more! Photography Sessions

Our animals are available for photography sessions, whether you have your own photographer, or would like us to bring ours. Our pony has been a part of children's photo shoots including unicorn sessions! We are also available for Easter and seasonal sessions. We are happy to work with photographers who are interested in offering their clients animal photography sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do i need a lot of space for a party.

No! We can set up in a 12x12 area on either grass or cement.  We will set up under either one or two 10x10 tents.  The pony can be walked on grass or cement anywhere nearby.  We just need a place to park and access to a water source for the animals!

What happens if the weather isn't good on that day?

We try our best to come even in inclement weather so as not to disappoint our guests.  Many clients put up tarps or tents to protect that area from the weather.  We bring two 10x10 tents for the petting zoo animals.  We can also set up in an indoor area such as a garage.  We will do our best to adjust the start time of your event around weather conditions if possible.  In the event that the weather is dangerous, we can reschedule for another mutually agreeable date.

Are you insured?

Yes! We are fully insured and follow strict safety procedures.  For corporate events and schools, we can provide a Certificate of Insurance as well as additional insured certificates. 

Do you work with special needs children and/or adults?

Absolutely! We are certified teachers and have experience working with individuals with special needs.  We are happy to customize an event to suit the needs of your guests.  We understand the requirement for patience and dedication to all of our attendees.

Will you customize an event for us?

Just ask!  We will try our best to accommodate your wishes for an event relative to themes, location, hours, and audience.  It is our commitment to make your event special and memorable!

We are also animal lovers with a history in animal rescue, so our animals are given the best of care and lots of love.  We also have a background in event management, so we know what it takes to make an event successful and unforgettable!  We approach your event as if it was our own personal event and take pride in the smiling faces of our guests! Meet our very loved friendly farmyard animals, sparkle the pony, cocoa & marshmallow.

Always the star of the show, our beautiful and impeccably dressed girl is super sweet and ready to ride! Word on the street is that she sometimes is a magical unicorn for that very special birthday child! She loves her treats and poses patiently for photos!

Our twin boy and girl goats can't be more adorable or loving than these two, who love pets, treats and exploring their surroundings! They bring a smile everywhere they go, especially when they walk on leashes!

Freckles & Speckles

These two sisters sadly have crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge so we are not bringing sheep at this time.

Dunkin & Donut

The dixie chicks.

Dunkin and Donut are quite a couple and love their peas, their baths, and basking in the sunshine!  They are happy to accept treats out of your hand and Donut especially loves to be held!

We have four chickens that are very friendly and sweet so we named them after candy! Tootsie and Buttercup will often lay eggs right in front of you!  They will also fall asleep in your arms if you have the right touch. Cinnamon and Sugar were hatched from eggs and love attention!

Buddy & Oliver

Buddy, our Harlequin bunny, and Oliver, our lop bunny are ready to meet you and eat a carrot or two! Buddy likes to hide in the hay piles and lounge in the sun.  Oliver is a stuffed animal come to life and loves to be held and scratched on the head!

Munchkin the Duck

Our beautiful Appleyard duck can be seen spending time with Dunkin' & Donut will do almost anything for peas! He is very sweet and curious and will gently rest his head on your open hand. His striking green head and colorful feathers are amazing to see up close!

Poppy & Lily

There's quite a story behind these two, as Poppy got loose from a garden center and was running on her own for two weeks! We brought her sister Lily and were able to catch her.  In an ironic twist of fate, Lily turned out to be very sick and in need of of immediate vet care, so Poppy's rescue actually saved Lily's life! These two are not

Mocha the Duck

Our sweet Mocha was hatched by us in 2020 and is a Rouen duck.  All she knows is love and kindness and is happy to eat peas or worms right from your hand!  Her pastimes are splashing in muddy puddles and sunbathing.

Animal Encounters at the Cape May County Zoo While the Cape May County Zoo doesn’t have a petting zoo, per se, you can pay for an experience with an animal. Book a Giraffe Encounter to feed a giraffe or a 30-minute Camel Encounter and get up close and personal with a Bactrian and Dromedary camel. Petting zoos are enjoyable for kids as they connect with the animals. We love bringing out our goats, lambs, and ponies. We offer larger farm animal petting zoos in which kids can feed them the grain they eat every day. The goats and lambs are a perfect complement to our ponies.     

Our petting zoos are kid-friendly. Our two goats' names are Peaches and Cream. The names of our lambs are Peanut Butter and Jelly. They are ready to party!

Our Services

Petting Zoo Rental

A large pen filled with our adorable petting zoo pets. All of our animals were raised on our farm since birth. They’re all well mannered and enjoy being loved, hugged and handled by kids of all ages. Petting Zoo parties consists of baby goat, lambs, chicks or hens, baby bunnies, and a small miniature potbellied piglet (upon request wears a tutu!). Additional animals can be added for an additional fee.

Pony Parties Rental

We provide professional hand guided pony rides. Pony parties are with one pony, additional ponies can be added for an extra fee. Our ponies have weight restrictions. Large ponies can hold riders 170 lbs or less. Small ponies can hold riders 80 lbs or less. Our miniature horse can hold up to 40 lbs. Some restrictions apply: children that ride a pony under the age of four must be held by a parent or guardian while having a pony ride.

We offer different packages for your party needs. Our pricing is based on location and is charged by the hour. Party dates and times are on a first come, first serve basis. Due to high demand, we book up fast! Please call us to check availability at 732-358-7555.

We have been receiving an overwhelming amount of phone calls, messages & e-mails regarding our animals (this is AMAZING, thank you all so much). Our Traveling Animal Assisted Activities are goal oriented and can consist of visits from KuneKune pigs, goats, chickens and bunnies all of which could help people to slow down, feel relaxed, and experience a sense of connection and joy. 

Owner, Stefani is a licensed social worker in the state of NJ and has experience working as therapist for many years in schools, outpatient and medical settings. Stefani always knew she wanted to incorporate her love for animals into her practice and started Animal Assisted Activities for recreational therapy and events.

We reserve your spot especially for you and request that you prepare for unfavorable weather. 

You will not be charged a cancelation fee for cancelation or reschedule due to dangerous weather conditions. However, the event will still go on during light & unfavorable weather. Thank you for understanding.

We can bring our whole farm crew, or just a few, it's up to you!

Day of Event

We arrive 30 minutes before your desired  start time (depending on our animal's moods) to set up fencing, hand sanitizing station, decor & activities. We also use this time to get our animals acclimated to the environment. 

Take time to connect with an animal, talk to our lovely staff members, and learn about our animals. Our staff members take time to educate others about each unique animal and how to care for and interact with them.

Stef is a local mom to two humans and a lot of animals. Stef earned her Bachelors of Science in Social Work in 2014 and a Master of Social Work degree in 2016 from Stockton University. She earned her Social Work License (LSW) and has over six years of therapy experience with children, teens, families and older adults. In 2022, Stef resigned from her position as a Mental Health Therapist to focus on her family, animals & backyard farm. Now she spends her days creating programs for animal assisted activities & education to share her animals with others!

Bree is a local mom of 2, USMC Veteran and animal lover. She earned her Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Bachelors of Science (BS,ARDMS). Bree served in the Marine Corps for 4 years and has worked in the healthcare field for over 15 years. Bree noticed how her love for animals (especially goats) helped alleviate mental health symptoms and now she is dedicated to sharing her animals to help others!

Our animals dress according to your event theme! Halloween, Christmas, Princess or Superhero! Lets us know your theme & we will dress accordingly. Choose from different add ons for your event!

Farmer Jack and his 2 assistants were fantastic! We had his traveling petting zoo come to my daughter's college graduation party. Young and old were delighted with the many animals that were there and the interactions, including putting a chicken on their heads! The staff was friendly and informative. I highly recommend Jack's Petting Zoo!

Farmer Jack was amazing!!! He was on early and his set up and cleanup were seamless. The kids absolutely loved the animals and Jack and his staff were kind and friendly. Would 110% recommend!

My most wonderful husband hired Jack's Petting Zoo to come to our house for my birthday recently. Um, yes, for MY birthday, hehe. I get that most women my age would have wanted a tennis bracelet, but animals are my bliss. Jack brought goats, sheep, alpaca, and a baby cow. I had opted out of the baby bunnies, chicks and ducks. He had done an event prior to coming to our house, so he had a few chickens with him - one of which he put on my head for a hilarious photo op! The chickens - which answer to their names and come when called! - wandered around our property afterwards. All of Jack's animals are well cared for, have names that they recognize, and seem happy and healthy. Jack can tell you the history of each of his animals, and will point out that his goats are five generations - and which one is the momma of which and so on. We had seen Jack's menagerie at a few events in the past, and he is local to us, so contacting him for my party of one was a breeze. Jack and his assistant showed up on time, set up the corral and got the animals situated in no time. He let me brush the animals, showed me how to approach the alpaca without spooking them, and gave me feed to bribe them all into being my pals, hehe. I was in my absolute glory for the entire time they were here. If you are looking for a unique experience for your child's next birthday (or your OWN birthday, hehe), please contact Jack. He also has ponies available for parties...which would just put the experience over the top for ANY child!! I cannot stop thanking my husband for this experience...and I cannot wait til spring to go see Jack's Petting Zoo at their next event!!

Jack's Petting Farm never disappoints. Jack always brings the most adorable and friendly animals, and it's touching how much the animals love him. You have to book pretty in advance but it is so worth it! I ALWAYS use Jack for birthday parties and events.

Jack is a sweetheart! We hired him at the library I work at and it was fantastic, the kids loved him. It was so much fun the kids were able to ride the pony's. Would definitely recommend him in the future!

Really enjoyed having Jack's at our sons first birthday party today! The animals were so cute and so friendly! It was a chilly day and some snow still left on the ground, but everyone had a great time! So happy! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

We had Jack's Petting Zoo come out for my son's 3rd Birthday party. They had baby bunnies, baby goats, a pony for pony rides, a llama and baby chicks. I have never seen so many toddlers in heaven. In addition to that they set up and broke down with no fuss. But the most wonderful thing about them was Jack and his crew. They remembered all the children's names after hearing them once. The young boy who gave the pony rides was so sweet with the little kids, distracting them if they got scared and managing to angle them for pictures without them noticing. It seemed like a family owned operation: just good people making children happy. And it cost the same as it would have to have a party at one of the local venues where all the other kids had their parties. After the party, several parents told me that it was the best birthday party of the year. One said that he didn't know how I would be able to top it next year. All I could think of was Cirque De Soleil on our jungle gym. I am not one to write these reviews, but I had to do this one. If you want a birthday for your little one that is completely special and original and that will provide beautiful memories, this is the way to go.

Our traveling petting zoo brings the zoo to you! Since 2003, Rizzo’s Wildlife World has been bringing our wildlife into homes, schools, workplaces and other venues throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania with our unique travel-out services. Our travel teams are fully equipped to bring a unique selection of safe-to-handle wildlife to your location of choice for a hands-on, interactive show at a variety of special events.

We’re known for providing the most outstanding wildlife shows in the region. Get ready for an up-close encounter with our  wildlife menagerie  in which your group can feed, touch and even hold select animals. Our animals are used to hanging out with people and being handled, but our educators will let you know which ones are safe to touch and how to properly pet them.

Reliable and Trustworthy "Animal Handlers"

Hello, my name is Brenda. I established Backyard Buddies in March of 2022. We are a small, family business with big dreams.  

-We believe in the positive energy between human and animal. We want everyone to be able to have a fun, hands on experience in a way that respects animals as living creatures. 

-All of our animals are our cherished pets. They enjoy attending events where they get plenty of pets and special treats.

  "Animal Handlers" are involved with my farm friends on a personal level and trusted to care for them and carry out the Backyard Buddies Experience. 

Each "Animal Handler" is educated to recognize animal behavior ques to make sure our pets are having the best experience while away from home. Our animals safety and wellbeing are always number one. We even travel side by side on our Buddy Bus!  

We've learned the importance of flexibility when working with animals, the weather, and children. We work with you and our farm friends to create an enjoyable experience for everyone.

What to expect.

It's a known fact animal care and vet bills are not on the cheap. With that said...

All proceeds and donations from Backyard Buddies events go towards the care of our animals and animals in need. 

We are currently working towards applying for 501 (3)C status as well as, becoming certified as Animal Assisted Intervention Specialists. This will help us spread the healing benefits of animal related activities. 

We work with our local animal control authorities to assist in animal fosters, bottle feeding orphaned animals, and provide care to those with unique needs.

• Two or more animal attendants depending on package size.
• Hand sanitizing station
• treats to feed our animals. (We do feeding sessions and not continuous feeding  for animal health and safety)
• We supply fencing that can be adjusted to accommodate various size areas. 
• Depending on package selected. We will arrive up to 1.5 hours early for set up.
• We require host of event to sign a safety waiver/hold harmless.     *No exceptions*
