4. Barahakshetra

One of the greatest Hindu pilgrimages in Nepal, Barahakshetra is the place where Lord Bishnu’s pig – shaped incarnation; Barah battled with an evil spirit called Hiranakshya and killed him. The pictures of Barah and the hog are spread all through the sanctuary and is located at the confluence of Saptakoshi and Koka Rivers.

Arnas are buffalos but jungle buffalo. In 1970, this place was founded and it’s a location on saptakoshi.

Mostly tourist visits here to see arna and enjoy the rare species of species. This place is also picnic sport. This place is popular for dolphins, golden jackals, blue bulls, marsh muggers etc… in this place the number of people will be surprised with the number of birds, animal, and beauty of natural beauty that can be observed.

3. HAAT BAZAAR

HAAT BAAZAR means an open market where local people can get fresh vegetables. It’s a location in the Eastern Region of the city. It is found at the roadside field. This place is quite well known for all local people. Agriculture is found at the land of Biratpur and we can find a number of fresh fruits and vegetable there.

4. BIRATNAGAR JUTE MILLS

The jute mill was established in 1936, with the ordered of Minister of JuddhaShamsher. It is the popular jute mill in Nepal. The Biratnagar jute mill is the oldest mill and widely well-known mall. Its location is in Biratpur. It is the first registered mill of Nepal. It is famous as a very old company in Nepal.

5. BARAHA CHHETRA

It is one of the Hindu places of Nepal. Bahara is the place where Vishnu-avatar; Bahara means a boar in camel and fought with the demon calledHiranaksya and killed him. The image of Baraha is seen beautifully throughout the temple.

The highlights are its beautiful surrounding temples. They will give energy to people. The interesting fact is the bridge connecting the temple to the mountain.

The location of the temple at Sunkoshi and Kosi River is seen as interesting. It is time to worship morning and evening. It has no charge to entry in the temple. It is easy and helpful to poor people.

The most beautiful thing here is that all 7 Koshi rivers meet together to form the holiest saptakoshi river. Most people go in summer, winter season. In the rainy season, the road is rainy due to water. There is a risk to go nowadays, there are many facilities for tourists.

6. KALI MANDIR

It is one of the famous temples of Hindus. It is just located a few kilometers ahead from sharpening. A blood-soaked temple of Dakshinkali. The temple is known as kali mandir. This place which was damaged in the 2015 earthquake is set at the confluence of two sacred streams in the region.

The temple is dedicated to goddess Kali and an incrimination or power of Parvati; the wife of Shiva. Mostly the Hindus temple is vegetarian but Kali temple has a lot of blood and sacrificed a number of animals for the goddess. It was believed that the goddess Kali is a blood-lust.

Therefore, the pilgrimage brings anything from ducks to goats, pigs to sheep, and even buffalo as a gift for the goddess. These are cut into meat by a priest who is quite a technical butcher. The temple is a religious bazaar.

There is no entry fee to go to the temple. It’s good timing to go to the temple in the early morning because we fresh in the morning. People believe in Durga goddess but Durga is vegetarian. Kali god is non-vegetarian that’s why most of the goats are cut in the mandir. Dashain is the main festival of people.

Innavaratri scarified of many goats in kali mandir. Most of the people had bhacal to cut the goats. Most of my wishes are fulfilling. Priest has got power while cutting goats at kali mandir.

7. BASANTPUR

Basantpur is one of the village development committees in Koshi zones sunsari district, Basantpur has recently become an important travel destination. One of the major reasons why this region is so popular because that is the base village for some major treks including the ones to ensure milk and jaljale forest treks.

The routine which is taken from basantapur is likely to bring you closer to the natural beauty of Nepal.

One of the major highlights of this place is doubtful. The natural beauty is here. This place is well known for its views of the Everest Kanchenjunga and Makalu which are some of the largest mountains in the world. The Buddhists said that if you met somebody and your heartbeats, your hands shake, your knees go weak and it’s beyoumeet your soul ‘you will full calm, no anxiety, no agitation.

Farmers believe the more manageable plats of landholders could produce food for their own consumption as well as grow cash crops for a niche market. Farmer’s care every time of the day and most of the flowers are planted at petal nursery.

People go in morning for refreshment. The nursery is visiting and studying place also. Most of the student goes to study botanical flower in the nursery. Student finds petal, sepal, androecium, gynoecium, and family of the flower. The student did practically. It is free to go for the student.

The newly released film is in the city cinema. It is located at Biratnagar. The arrangement of seats is done so well, it was so good and comfortable that I love each and everything. The best place to go on Saturdays for a person who doesn’t get time to go out of Biratnagar for weekend refreshment. It’s time is 9:30, 12:30, 3:30, 5:00, 7:00 to see film. Most of the film is a comedian for laughing.

It is the dance studio it is; located at dance gudri bazaar Buddha road Biratnagar. people go to enjoy dancing. Dance is good for our health. Most of the people go to refresh their mind and for enjoyment. People mostly go on Saturday.

It is a fast food restaurant at Biratnagar. The lunch is fresh. It is especially for lunch.it is also famous for fast lunch factory.

It is located at devkotachowk at Biratnagar. It is fast food and continental restaurant. Rango’smomo has tasty, yummy to eat momo burger. Different kinds of momo are found here. One usual fact is that every people like Momo to eat. People enjoy eating.

It is situated at main road Biratnagar. It is a fast food restaurant and people go on Saturday to drink coffee. Coffee is good for our body. Coffee makes a smile on our face. This Jute Mill is one of the famous historical places in Nepal. It is the oldest as well as the biggest jute mill in Biratnagar, Eastern Nepal. It was established by Juddha Shamsher Rana in 1936 A.D. 

3. Biratnagar Bus Park

This bus park is one of the busiest bus parks in Nepal. It offers good transportation service. You can find short as well as long-distance running buses here.

There is a well-managed parking space for vehicles. Many hotels and lodges are also available around the bus park.

4. Eco Child-Friendly Park

It is a small but beautiful children’s park in Biratnagar. Gardens and fountains make the park more attractive. For sure it is the best place to hang out with kids.  

5. Kali Mandir

Kali Mandir is located at the heart of the city. It is one of the most visited religious sites in Biratnagar. This temple is made up of blocks, cement, and wood. It is a pagoda-style temple and it has three beautiful rooftops. 

Kali temple is devoted to the Hindu Goddess Kali. It gets large numbers of devotees, especially during the Dashain festival. 

6. Ram Janaki Mandir 

It is another famous Hindu temple in Biratnagar (Province no.1 of Nepal). This temple is dedicated to Lord Ram. It offers a clean and peaceful environment.

Marriage ceremonies and other programs are also used to held here. 

7. Lakshmi Narayan Mandir 

It is one of the religious places in Panchali. This temple is a popular destination for local devotees. 

8. Saraswati Mandir

Saraswati Mandir is the oldest temple in Biratnagar. Large numbers of local devotees come here to worship the goddess Saraswati. 

Other temples to visit in this city are Durga Mandir, Ram Janki Mandir, Astachiranjiwi Mandir, Banaskhandi Mahadev Mandir, Sani Mandir, Durga Mandir, Satya Narayan Mandir, Shiva Mandir, Ganesh Temple, Hanuman Mandir.

You can also visit Mango Garden near bus park. It provides fresh and cool air in a hot climate.

About Biratnagar

Biratnagar , which literally means “huge city” in Nepali, is the fourth largest city of Nepal. Being the industrial capital of Nepal the place is becoming a huge tourist hub. Biratnagar derived its name from king Birat who once used to rule the city. The old name of city was Gograha Bazar. The city is believed to be a part of the kingdom of Virata, which is also mentioned in the Mahabharata. Cool, right?

Biratnagar is basically located in the Morang district of eastern Nepal which lies in the Kosi Zone. This place is a heaven for bird and wildlife enthusiasts since Koshi tappu wildlife reserve is only 90 kilometers from the city, which is home to endangered wild buffaloes “Anga”. The famous tea gardens of Ilam are a must visit for the people coming to this place. Other tourist attractions near Biratnagar are Dhankuta which is famous for its oranges and the forests of Tinjure, Milke and Jaljale.

A famous attraction of this place is the colourful haat bazaars which is the weekly baazar held each week in different parts of the town. Biratnagar is known for its high spirited festival celebrations like the festival of Dashain, which is Nepal’s biggest festival and Tihar, festival of lights. The most widely celebrated festival is Krishna Ashtami, the birth day of Lord Krishna where a rath yatra is organised. Visit Biratnagar not only for its beauty, heritage, and adventure but also for its environment, world class accommodation and the lovely people.

In Nepali “birat” means huge and “nagar” means city. In the past, the region had a king whose name was Birat and the ruins of whose palace can be seen. The name “Biratnagar” for the city comes from the name of King Birat. Biratnagar is situated within one of the most ethnically diverse regions of Nepal, and the rural hinterland is home to a diverse cross section of Tarai communities.Geographical location of Biratnagar is 26°28’60″N 87°16’60″E.

Krishna Janma Asthami Krishna Janma Asthami or the birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated actively and together by both Nepalese and Indian communities. People tend to open small stalls everywhere where they keep a statue of lord krishna. Anyone visiting the stall gets little bit of prashad(some fruits). Also there is a culture of Jagram(staying awake all night) on Janma Asthami night. On the day there is also a tradition of Rath Yatra(Chariot pulling). Its basically like a parade, where a chariot is pulled by people and basically whole of Biratnagar turns up to witness the event. The next day is a bit gloomy as all the statues of Lord Krishna are taken to the River nearby called Singya and given away to the river. The process is called “Murti Selaune”.

Dashain Dashain is celebrated mainly by the Nepalese communities. Generally there are ceremonies in the Kali Temple on the main street. The event lasts for 15 days.

Tihar Festival In Tihar festival of lights the residents line their homes with diyo (an earthen oil lamp), candles and decorative electrical lamps during the two days of celebration and there is decoration in main road which includes use of Banana tree and Bamboo in all shops. Crackers are band in Nepal.

The second largest city in Nepal, Biratnagar is primarily known as the industrial center of the country. A number of colourful haat bazaars (weekly markets) are held each week in different parts of the town, where farmers from the rural surroundings set up stalls to trade agricultural produce, spices and handicrafts.Biratnagar is ideal as a hub for travel plans in Eastern Nepal.

Biratnagar Haat Bazaar – Biratnagar Haat Bazaar is a weekly open-air market mainly for selling and buying of vegetables, meat and other essentials, take place every Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday in different parts of Biratnagar.

Koshi Barrage – The Koshi Barrage on the Koshi river (two-hour drive) is a remarkable sight. Biratnagar is the hub of air routes in eastern Nepal.The largest rhododendron forests of Tinjure, Milke and Jaljale can be reached in about 3-4 hours. Scenic treks with views of Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjunga can be started from the small towns of Basantapur or Tumlingtar.

Dharan – Dharan is about 50 km from north of Biratnagar. Dharan is famous for Dantakali temple, Pindeshwar temple, Budha Subbha temple and Panch Kanya and is surrounded with hills and Bhedetar is famous view point.

Jogbani Jogbani is a city which serves as a border between Nepal and India. It is a main shopping destination for people of Biratnagar as well as nearby cities like Dharan and Dhankuta.

Baraha Kshetra It is an important Hindu pilgrimage site which is located at the convergence of Koka and Sapta Koshi rivers. According to Hindu legend, Lord Vishnu as His fourth avatar Lord Nrsimhadeva came down to earth and destroyed Hiranyakashipu, an evil demon at this very spot.

Birateswar Birateswar is an endangered heritage of Nepal. King Birat ruled over this region in historic period and even there we can find the palace of king Birat.

How To Reach Biratnagar By Rail It is also easy to travel to and from India by trains from Jogbani railway station, just across the border in India. There are direct trains to Kolkata and the Indian capital New Delhi from Jogbani. The border crossing from Jogbani has a customs checkpoint. A survey for an extension of the railway track from Jogbani to Biratnagar has been done.

By Road Biratnagar is well connected to other parts of the country through buses. Road transport is the most significant mode of transport to the city Biratnagar .

Intercity The best way of getting around the city is by using cycle rickshaws and taxi. There are also auto rickshaws running short distances but they don’t operate in the main market area. For easy roundabout of the city there are tempos and rickshaws.
