The surprise songs left fans more than rewarded, too, with two of the nights experiencing a mash-up of some of Swift’s best songs during her acoustic guitar performance.

What surprise songs will Taylor Swift play in Australia?

Each night of the Eras tour features two surprise songs pulled from throughout Swift’s discography — including bonus tracks from deluxe albums and “From the Vault” tracks from Taylor’s Versions .

After opening the tour with a 53-show run across North America in 2023 — and covering over 100 surprise songs in that time — during the tour’s second leg in Latin America towards the end of the year, Swift announced that she was putting all songs back up for grabs in her 2024 concerts. “I feel like for one year we’ve really gotten through a lot of songs, so I’m just going to make all of the songs fair game,” the singer announced during a São Paulo concert.

So what does that mean? Nearly any Swift song could be performed as a surprise track for future concerts. With 243 songs to her name in total, subtracting the 44 songs on the permanent Eras setlist, that leaves another 199 songs on the agenda. We can perhaps assume that the surprise songs she performed most recently in Japan will be off the list, however — those being “Dear Reader,” “Holy Ground,” “Eyes Open,” “Electric Touch,” “Superman,” “The Outside,” “Come In With The Rain,” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid”.

Some fans have theorised that there’s a chance Folklore and Evermore collaborator Aaron Dessner could make an appearance on stage with Swift, given he’ll be in town in early March to tour with his band, The National — and therefore Swift’s Australian surprise songs might hail from those two albums which Dessner co-wrote and co-produced.

Fans also theorised that G Flip might be invited on stage by Swift in Melbourne, after the Australian singer’s cover of “Cruel Summer” went viral in January. Unfortunately, despite a petition being launched (and signed by over 18,800 people) for them to open one of the Melbourne dates, that didn’t eventuate — however, the singer did head to one of the concerts to watch Swift among her other fans, as an Instagram Story revealed.

What songs are left for Eras Tour surprise songs?

There are less than 40 songs remaining that Swift hasn’t performed at all throughout the Eras tour to date, with one or more songs yet to be played from each of her 10 albums.

Taylor Swift : “Mary’s Song (Oh My My),” “A Perfectly Good Heart”

Fearless : “The Way I Loved You,” “Change,” “Superstar,” “We Were Happy,” “That’s When,” “Don’t You,” “Bye Bye Baby”

Speak Now : “Foolish One”

Red : “Girl At Home,” “Ronan,” “Babe,” “Forever Winter,” “Run”

1989 : “Sweeter Than Fiction”

Reputation : “I Did Something Bad”

Lover : “London Boy,” “Soon You’ll Get Better,” “It’s Nice To Have A Friend”

Folklore : “Epiphany,” “Peace,” “Hoax”

Evermore : “Happiness,” “Long Story Short,” “Closure”

Midnights : “Paris,” “Glitch,” “Dear Reader”

What songs is Taylor Swift singing on tour in 2024?

The Eras concert is split up into 10 sections inspired by each of Swift’s albums to date (it’s unclear just yet whether The Tortured Poets Department will worm its way into the lineup after it’s released in April).

Midnights , Lover , and sister albums Folklore and Evermore get the most love throughout the setlist, with the majority of songs drawn from those works. Speak Now has the smallest permanent spot in the concert, with just two songs from the 2010 album featuring, while the debut Taylor Swift album has no permanent place — only appearing every once in a while as one of the two surprise songs Swift treats each audience to throughout the tour. Read on for the full setlist in order.

How Taylor Swift completely shook up her Eras Tour surprise songs tradition in Australia

By Chantelle Bozicevic | 3 months ago

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour kicked off in March of 2023 in North America, and since then, Swifities haven't had a day of peace.

We've stayed up late to watch grainy live streams, and spent our lunch breaks at work frantically searching TikTok to find out of Blondie has done anything crazy at today's show.

Ahead of each show, there's one thought that anxiously looms over every Swiftie's head – what surprise songs she'll play during the acoustic section.

Though the Eras Tour shows have a set list that remains the same, Swift also played two 'surprise songs' each night, drawn from her extensive back catalogue.

When the tour kicked off in 2023, Swift told fans she'd set a "rule" to not repeat any of the surprise tracks – adding to the stress for fans seeing their wishlist songs "lost" at different shows around the world.

While in Australia, however, the Lover singer threw a huge spanner in the works by announcing a huge change to the tradition while performing in Melbourne.

The international pop sensation scrapped the 'no repeats' rule, explaining her reasoning to her third consecutive crowd of 96,000 people at the MCG.

"Basically, when I started the tour in the US, I made up this rule where I was like, I'm not allowed to ever play a song twice on the tour," she said.

"That was to challenge me to, like, really get to all of the ones that I just don't naturally gravitate towards and I feel really proud about having done that but this is sort of like a public service announcement to everyone.

"I've been thinking like, I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward and I don't want to limit anything and I don't want to just say like "oh I played a song before, I can't play it again'.

"So from now on... I want to be able to play songs more than once if I feel like it, and I want to be able to make changes to songs and be creative. Does that sound OK? Because it sounds more fun to me, so I'm glad you're on board."

Swift has certainly been having fun with her new rule.

Not only has she been repeating tracks she played in other locations last year, but she's been performing surprise song mashups during her Aussie shows.

Read on to find out more about Swift's surprise song tradition.

What are Taylor Swift's surprise songs?

Basically, Swift's concert is broken up into 10 sections. Nine are dedicated to her currently released albums (all except her debut album, Taylor Swift ), and the other is dedicated to causing a wave of simultaneous panic and excitement to rush over every person inside the stadium.

This section is known as the surprise songs.

After Swift performs her first eight sections of the show, she comes to the end of the catwalk on the stage, where she performs two acoustic songs - but only she knows what they are going to be.

These songs can be anything from her entire discography, which is large, to say the least.

Up until her huge announcement in Melbourne, Swift would only ever play a surprise song once, and obviously any of the other 43 songs on her setlist are automatically disqualified from selection.

Taylor Swift

She used to have two exceptions to her 'no repeats' rule, one was that if she messed it up she could play it again, and the second was that if it was from the album Midnights she could play it as many times as she wanted.

The singer was also known to create her own rules as she goes, bringing out one of her opening acts in Cincinnati, Gracie Abrams, to perform Abrams' song I Miss You, I'm Sorry together.

And now, she's changed her own rules again, explaining that she can play any surprise song as many times as she would like.

For some, that announcement is a huge sigh of relief.

taylor swift australia tour song list

Some Swifties have decided that the scrapping of the 'no repeats rule' is exciting, we now have hundreds of songs we may potentially see live and we'll never know what's going to happen.

She could play the same song two nights in a row, she could even play three songs in one (see Melbourne night 2 where she mashed up Getaway Car with the August bridge and the Other Side of the Door outro.)

For others, like myself, who like the maximum amount of control in all situations, we're now terrified – we now have hundreds of songs we may potentially see live and anything could happen.

Whichever way your emotional compass has gone, it is what it is, us Aussies need to be prepared for anything in the surprise song section.

Taylor Swift is in Sydney right now performing a total of four concerts at Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.

The Era tour’s inescapable media presence has picked apart just about everything Tay-Tay has been doing whilst in the Harbour City, including dining at Surry Hills favourite Pellegrino 2000 and visiting the zoo with partner Travis Kelce.

And while every facet of Taylor’s visit down under will inevitably churn through the media circus over the next week (or year, who knows), what fans really care about is what songs the 34-year-old singer is performing. Namely, what “surprise songs” she has planned for each night as a special nod to her core fanbase.

As our reviewer, Dylan Marshall, noted in his recount of Sydney Night One, Swift’s generous 45-song performance will satisfy “no matter how high your expectations.”

On the first night, the surprise songs were “How You Get The Girl” and “White Horse,” the latter performed with support act Sabrina Carpenter.

The second was even better for fans, digging deep for “Should’ve Said No” and fan-favourite “New Year’s Day.”

For those curious, here is the full set list for Taylor Swift in Sydney Night Two.

Taylor Swift at the MCG: Eras Tour timings, set list and everything you need to know

Today's the day blondie enters the building! Here are the key facts

Ashleigh Hastings

We’ve counted days, we’ve counted miles, and now many months later, Taylor Swift is playing her first show in Melbourne today. The Eras Tour is such a big deal that transport authorities have even extended the free tram zone , just to help fans get to the stadium.

Ms Swift flew into Melbourne at 1am on Thursday morning and the final touches are being made to the  MCG  setup as we speak, so it’s time for those of us lucky enough to have nabbed tickets to plan the details of our long night out at the stadium.

When is Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Melbourne?

Tay Tay will take to the stage at the MCG for her first Eras Tour concert tonight. She will also perform on February 17 and 18 before heading to Sydney for four shows at Accor Stadium.

What time will Taylor Swift come on stage?

All gates to the MCG will open at 4.30pm, in case you’re reaaaaally keen to get in early to secure some merch. However, every single seat at the Melbourne nights of the Eras Tour is assigned, which means there’s no point rocking up super early to get a spot in the non-existent mosh. Besides, there are several ways to  buy Eras Tour merch before the shows .

The music will kick off at 6.20pm with pop princess Sabrina Carpenter as the opening act. We can’t be 100 per cent sure exactly what time Taylor will come on stage, but all signs point to around 7.30pm or 8pm at the latest.

What can I bring to Taylor Swift Melbourne?

There are specific rules for what you can and can’t bring to the Eras Tour in Melbourne. Here are the main things to remember this weekend:

You can bring:

  • One bag with a maximum of two compartments, smaller than A4 size. It doesn’t need to be clear.
  • Friendship bracelets, but put them in your bag or on your arms.
  • A rain poncho.
  • A portable charger smaller than the size of your phone.
  • Sunscreen, but not the aerosol kind.
  • A sealed, clear, soft plastic water bottle no larger than 600ml.

You can’t bring:

  • Outside food.
  • D-rings or carabiners for friendship bracelets.
  • Signs bigger than 28 x 45cm.
  • Studded jewellery (sorry Rep girlies).
  • Metal or hard plastic containers.

Are there any tickets left?

This won’t come as a shock to anyone, but demand for Taylor Swift tickets has been through the roof (and into the stratosphere, at this point). A  limited number of new Taylor Swift tickets went on sale at 2pm on Tuesday, February 13. Aside from the new tickets, re-sale through Ticketek Marketplace is your best bet – be wary of scams on other platforms!

What’s the full setlist for the Eras Tour?

The Eras Tour has a setlist like no other, spanning a staggering three hours and 44 songs. Since the tour has already been travelling around the world, we mostly know what to expect, save for some nightly ‘surprise songs’. Here’s the Eras Tour setlist for Australia:

Who will be supporting Taylor in Melbourne? What was the deal with extra tickets?

Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter will be supporting Taylor on the Aussie leg of the Eras Tour. She's best known for hit songs 'Nonsense', 'Feather' and 'On My Way'. On Tuesday, February 13, a new batch of tickets dropped for the Melbourne shows – as expected, they were snapped up quickly and sold out within hours. The tickets on sale were for seats with partially obscured views.

As the tour’s name implies, the setlist covers all but one of Swift’s ten album eras, glossing over her eponymous 2006 debut but addressing everything from Fearless (2008) to Midnights (2022).

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

Each era notably takes up its own chunk of the set, but the order isn’t run chronologically. Instead, Swift kicks things off with a six-song showcase of her 2019 album Lover , before moving on to a short highlight reel of Fearless hits.

2020’s Evermore is up next in the spotlight, followed by 2017’s Reputation , 2010’s Speak Now and 2012’s Red . Only after that do we hear songs from Evermore’s prequel album Folklore (also released in 2020), before Swift turns back the clock to 1989 (which came out in 2014) and wraps it all up with a celebration of Midnights .

It’s worth pointing out that Swift just announced her upcoming 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department , which releases shortly after the Eras tour ends on April 19. It was announced before the Japanese leg of the ongoing tour, but given she’s had a few more days to prepare, there’s an ever-so-slight chance that Australia might see the live debut of material from the record.

Nevertheless, the Eras tour setlist has only seen one major shake-up since its debut, being track ten. The initial run saw Swift perform No Body, No Crime with the assistance of HAIM , however since the latter band only toured with Swift in the States, they haven’t been around for the epic duet elsewhere. Swift opted not to sing it without them, instead swapping it out for ’Tis The Damn Season .

Tracks 37 and 38 are also switched up at every show, as part of a designated “surprise songs” section that Swift performs acoustically (the first on guitar and the second on piano). Our prediction: if there’s anywhere in the set we can expect to hear songs from The Tortured Poets Department , it’s here.

Last October, Swift released a recording of the Eras tour as a concert film – plainly titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – which has gone on to break two monumental world records : not only is it the highest-grossing concert film of all time, but it’s also the highest-grossing documentary ever released.

The Australian leg of the Eras tour starts this Friday (February 16) with three back-to-back shows at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, followed by four shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. Additional tickets for the run will go on sale later today – head here for more info.

Also today, it was announced that Melbourne’s free tram zone would be expanded for the duration of Swift’s visit.

Head here for all the info you need to know about the tour as a whole.

What songs has Taylor Swift added to the new Eras Tour setlist? Here's the full official new Eras Tour setlist and all the changes she's made so far.

Listen to this article

It's safe to say that Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour has well and truly surpassed every single expectation we had. The Eras Tour officially opened its doors in Glendale, Arizona on March 17th where Taylor performed songs from all 10 of her albums.

Since then, Taylor has released her eleventh album, ' The Tortured Poets Department ', and has now added seven of those songs to the setlist too. But what songs have been cut to make room for the new tracks?

On May 9th in Paris, France, Taylor changed the entire Eras Tour setlist as fans know it. Popular songs have now been removed and the eras section order has been moved around.

Here's all the songs in Taylor's Eras Tour setlist, including every song featured in the show, how many songs she plays, every single surprise song and all the 'The Tortured Poets Department' tracks that have been added to the setlist.

Plus, all the updates to the setlist and what to expect for the upcoming European Eras Tour dates.

How many songs does Taylor Swift play on the Eras Tour setlist?

The average Taylor Swift concert used to be around 2 hours long but The Eras Tour is a whole different beast... The concert is a whopping 3 hours and 15 minutes long, and Taylor performs a huge 45 tracks within that timeframe.

Not all the tracks are performed in full – some are shortened versions. There's also a couple of additional little interludes that pop up throughout the show.

For context, on the Rep tour, Taylor performed 19 tracks in total, including several mashups that featured some of her older songs. For The 1989 World Tour, she performed 18 songs, while 17 songs were performed on The Red Tour and the Speak Now World Tour.

Taylor has 'reset' the surprise song list, which means anyone attending a show in 2024 can anticipate hearing a song she's already performed. She previously stated that she will only play each surprise song once during the tour, unless she messes one up.

There's also no rules for Taylor repeating songs from Midnights as surprise songs, which means fans may get to hear the likes of 'You're On Your Own Kid' and 'Snow on the Beach' again at some point in the future.

We'll update this article with every Surprise Acoustic Song – and every surprise song that she will play again – after every show.

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist to include The Tortured Poets Department?

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist?

As of March 9th 2024, the Eras Tour setlist has remained the same as the U.S. leg. However, during the first Paris show in May 2024, Taylor changed the order of the setlist, removed six songs and added seven new ones.

Fans attending the European shows might end up hearing Taylor perform ' Castles Crumbling ' with Hayley Williams as an additional song during the 'Speak Now' section, as Paramore will be supporting her throughout those tour dates. (Both Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM joined Taylor on stage to perform 'Nothing New' and 'No Body, No Crime' respectively on the nights they were support acts.)

Taylor will finish her European leg in London in August 2024, before returning to North America in November 2024. It's possible that she may make more changes to the final leg of the show.

What are Taylor's most performed songs on tour?

Before she embarked on The Eras Tour, Taylor’s top 3 most performed songs are ‘Love Story’ (491 times), ‘Our Song’ (404 times) and ‘You Belong With Me’ (381 times).

Of course, almost all of Taylor’s most performed songs are from her first two albums. As the list goes on, the 'Speak Now' bops, 'Red' bangers and '1989' hits start to weave their way in.

If you’re wondering what Taylor’s most played songs from her first five albums are, here’s a break down:

  • Taylor Swift : ‘Our Song’, ‘Tim McGraw’ and ‘Picture To Burn’
  • Fearless: ‘Love Story’, ‘You Belong With Me’ and ‘Fifteen’
  • Speak Now : ‘Sparks Fly’, ‘Mean’ and ‘Mine’
  • Red : ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Red’
  • 1989 : ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Out of the Woods’

Taylor has only had the chance to perform songs from Reputation on the Reputation Stadium Tour so far, but ‘Ready For It?’, ‘Delicate’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ take the top spots when it comes to live performances of the Rep tracks.

Due to the cancellation of Lover Fest, Taylor hasn’t been able to perform Lover on a tour setting. Folklore, Evermore and Midnights will also be making their tour debut on the Eras Tour.

NOT A DRILL: Taylor Swift Has Just Added Two Extra Dates To Her Australian Eras Tour

taylor swiftt eras tour

Laura Masia

Alexandra Koster

Michael Di Iorio

Soaliha Iqbal

Sweeney Preston

Tiketek made an announcement for the new tickets on Thursday November 9.

“Due to the demand, additional tickets including partially-obstructed side view tickets will be released with prices starting from $79.90,” it read.

“Limited tickets across all the Australian concert dates will be available from Friday 10 November at 10am for Sydney and 4pm for Melbourne until allocations are exhausted.” HUGE!!!!!!!!!

Previously, the demand for the shows prompted Miss Swift to add TWO more Eras Tour Australia dates to her time Down Under.

The queen giveth, the queen provideth.

Miss Swift added an extra show in Melbourne on February 18, and another in Sydney on February 26.

This makes Taylor the first artist since Madonna in 1993 to perform three shows at the MCG. That’s fkn huge.

Tickets for the extra shows went sale along with the original tickets back in June. While it wasn’t great news for our interstate hotties and pals in Aotearoa, it did give a little more hope to the hoards of people who missed out on pre-sale tickets.

If you missed out on tickets (sad), you can check out what resale sites are (and aren’t) recommended to buy tickets from . According to a Ticketek spokesperson, over four million people across Sydney and Melbourne were trying to snag tickets to see our glittery queen last time.

Now that there are more tickets up for grabs, we wish you good luck, godspeed, and may the odds be ever in your favour.

Ahead, we’ve compiled everything (and we mean everything ) you need to know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia.

When is Taylor Swift coming to Australia?

Taylor Swift will be performing two Eras Tour gigs in Melbourne and three gigs in Sydney in February 2024.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Dates:

  • Friday 16 – Melbourne, MCG
  • Saturday 17 – Melbourne, MCG
  • Sunday 18 – Melbounre, MCG
  • Friday 23 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Saturday 24 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Sunday 25 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
  • Monday 26 – Sydney, Accor Stadium

When do Taylor Swift Eras Tour Australian tickets go on sale?

For those who were determined to be the first to get their grimy hands on Eras Tour tix in Australia, there were two pre-sale options. One was the American Express VIP package Pre-Sale which happened on June 26 and only sold VIP two packages — not general admission tickets.

After that, regular pre-sale and VIP tickets were available via Frontier Touring on Wednesday, June 28.

Unsurprisingly, the Frontier Member’s pre-sale was an absolute shit fight with many of us missing out.

General tickets went on sale Friday, June 30.

The new additional tickets will go on sale Friday, November 10. Sydney tickets will become available at 10am while the Melbourne allocation will be available at 4pm. What a time to be alive, my friends! Good luck to all!

What are the Taylor Swift ticket prices for Australia’s Eras Tour?

I hope you’re ready to drain your bank account and sell your firstborn because these bad boys are NOT cheap.

If you’re ready to go all out with A Reserve tickets, you’ll pay $379.90 a pop. But if you’re happy to just vibe along and don’t care where you sit, you could cop G Reserve tickets for $79.90.

Here’s how much tickets cost for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia:

How can I get Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets?

Where’s the best place to sit for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

Good question. We’ve compiled an entire guide on the best (and worst) places to sit for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour based on some clever Swifties on TikTok who are really doing god’s work.

What is the Taylor Swift Eras Tour setlist?

The  official set list  includes 44 songs (!!) and the Eras Tour is doing exactly what it promised — taking Swifties on a journey through all the musical eras of Taylor Swift.

The Eras Tour is the first tour for the pop star in five years, and she’s performing hit after hit for the duration of the show.

Warning: spoilers ahead.

Eras Tour Setlist:

  • Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince”
  • “Cruel Summer”

OG fans will be thrilled to see bops like “Enchanted” and “Fearless” both making the cut for the setlist.

There are tracks off of her fourth studio album Red , including “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the 10-minute (yes,  10-minute ) version of “All Too Well”, so excuse me while I curl up into a ball and sob for the remainder of the day.

“Cruel Summer” also makes an appearance. I’ve never wanted to see someone dancing around on stage in a bedazzled leotard more in my life.

“Lavender Haze”, “Mirrorball” and “Style” are all confirmed for Eras and seriously, Taylor Swift knows what we want and she  gives it to us .

Even “You Belong With Me” got some air time. 12-year-old me is screaming .

Tracks from every single album appear to be making the cut. Why doesn’t every artist structure their live performances like this ?

And while many Aussies have been miffed over not having tour dates until 2024, there is a slight silver lining in that we might be able to see more songs from Speak Now (the best album, IMHO) on the setlist thanks to its re-release in July.

Why has there been so much drama over the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour shows?

Ooooh boy, there’s been a lot of whispers about the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour for months now.

It all kicked off from a Tweet posted in March when the oracular gossip site Deuxmoi hinted that Taylor Swift had already booked the country’s biggest stadium, the MCG, for her tour.

“Dates have been booked for Taylor at the MCG in Melbourne, Aus. So she’s definitely coming to Australia!” the Tweet read.

Shortly after this, an anonymous individual claiming to work for the MCG sent the Shameless podcast a DM claiming TayTay is defs on her way.

“Hush Hush but I work for the MCG and dates have been booked in for Taylor,” they wrote.

Per the anon tea spiller, the “You Need To Calm Down” singer will be playing not one but TWO shows at the MCG.

Thankfully, they were right! Yahoo!

Is there any footage of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

For the last few months, Australians have been forced to watch footage from the Eras Tour unfold on TikTok, including vids featuring the likes of Hayley Williams ,  Gigi Hadid ,  and  Emma Stone straight-vibing. TBH, it’s had Aussie Swifties begging for a Taylor Swift Australia tour.

The Eras Tour kicked off on March 17 in the US, and based on the footage, it’s everything we wanted and more.

A ‘yuge thank you to all the overseas Swifties for the glorious footage from the Taylor Swift Eras Tour!

This tour is cracking up to be everything I could ever want in a T Swift tour, the song choices, the wardrobe changes, the set . Phenomenal, truly.

Every Surprise Song Taylor Swift Performed On ‘The Eras Tour’

Profile picture of Cassandra Green

When Taylor Swift released the 44-song set list for her Eras Tour, fans were always going to be disappointed if their favourite song wasn’t on it.

So, she devised a plot to bring her more than 180 song discography to her captivated audience though ‘surprise songs’ performed throughout the tour, two each night.

However, Swifties will know that the idea of a ‘surprise song’ or deviation from the usual set list is nothing new to a Swift concert.

She did surprise songs as far back as her Red Tour, singing a series of her older songs in place of ‘I Almost Do’. In her Speak Now Tour Swift performed a series of surprise covers, including Train’s ‘Drops of Jupiter’.

Taylor sang surprise songs (but they were covers) as far back as ‘Speak Now’.

But, with Swift amassing multiple albums since her last tour (Lover, Folklore , Reputation and Midnights) it made even more sense to bring back the surprise songs. Not to mention the re-recorded Vault tracks we’ve been blessed with and the announcement of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department .

Fans that attended the first Glendale concert had the rules of the surprise songs on the Eras Tour explained to them.

Taylor said she intends to only play each secret song one time, unless she makes an error or it’s on Midnights . Of course, since then many fans have suspected that Swift has purposely started a song in the wrong key or mis-pronounced a lyric, in order to be able to play it again.

However, on her final night of the Latin American leg in São Paulo, one year into the tour, Swift announced that she would refresh the list of songs she’s played, meaning that all of them are now once again up for grabs.

“In 2024, when we go back out on tour, I’m just going to open back up all of the songs for surprise songs,” she said. “I feel like, for one year we’ve really gotten through a lot of songs so I’m just going to make all the songs fair game.”

The announcement was met with major enthusiasm from fans yet to see the tour, who had feared that they may not get the chance to hear their favourite songs if they’d already been played.

She further elaborated when she was in Melbourne.

“I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward and I don’t want to limit anything or say, ‘Oh, if I played this song, I can’t play it again,’” she explained. “So, from now on, I don’t want to take any paint colours out of the paintbox [or] tools out of the toolbox.

“I want to be able to play songs more than once if I feel like it and I want to be able to make changes to songs. Does that sound OK?” she asked to her biggest crowd of 96,000 Australians.

Swift went on to perform a series of mash ups, starting a new trend that many Swifties hope will continue.

Here’s all the surprise songs has she already performed on the Eras tour, and the ones she is yet to bring out during her live performances.

We will update this again at the end of her Asia Pacific leg.

Which Songs Did Taylor ‘Mess Up’ That She’ll Play Again?

Taylor has made a few mistakes across the surprise songs on her Eras Tour, so, per her original rule, she had to play them again. We are still waiting for the second replays of the following songs with ‘errors’ or on Midnights .

However, with Swift opening back up her discography for the 2024 dates, we’re unsure whether we’ll get repeat plays of these iconic tunes.

Death By A Thousand Cuts

The Great War

Snow On The Beach (Played twice on March 24, August 25)

Of course, her 180 song discography is now even bigger with the [addition of six vault tracks in Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and five more Vault tracks from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

Will Taylor Swift’s Surprise Songs Refresh For The International Tour Dates?

Good news Australian Swifties! Taylor Swift has announced that she will be refreshing the slate of her surprise songs for 2024, opening out her huge discography once more to be played at the Eras Tour.

That means if your favourite song has already been played it is now up for grabs again. With just four international dates before she gets to Melbourne and seven before Sydney, it’s likely only 8 (Melbourne) and 14 (Sydney) songs will have been played again by the time she gets here.

The announcement has been a long time coming for international fans, who have been anxiously running the numbers and realising that Swift has more dates than she does songs (which is saying something about how long this tour will run for).

Taylor Swift Aussiefies the Eras Tour Set List

Portrait of Alejandra Gularte

Taylor Swift is having a ball in Australia. She’s hanging out at the Sydney Zoo with her boyfriend Travis Kelce, she’s creating her own mash-ups during the surprise set , and now her concert is fully embracing the power of an accent. “I have a very specific word that is my favorite word that you say in an Australian accent, and it’s the word ‘No,’” Swift teased during the acoustic set before singing a song that features it prominently. “The choice is yours; you can sing it American like me if you want, or you can just be yourselves, and you can say ‘ Should’ve Said Naur. ’” However, that wasn’t the only time the concert went down under. Opener and professional heels wearer Sabrina Carpenter added a “so saurrry for your loss” during “Feather,” a few nights after dancer Kameron Saunders let out a “naur” during “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” How much more Australian can the concert yet? At the next show, she’ll be throwing Vegemite during “Tolerate It” off the table.

Taylor Swift changed The Eras Tour set list to include 'The Tortured Poets Department.' Here are all 46 songs she performs now.

  • Taylor Swift's blockbuster Eras Tour resumed Thursday in Nanterre, France.
  • Swift altered the set list to include songs from her new album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
  • The current Eras Tour set list, which includes 46 various hits and deep cuts, is cataloged below.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift is back on the road for her record-breaking , economy-altering Eras Tour.

The stadium series kicked off last year in Glendale, Arizona, and quickly became a sensation . After making stops across the US, Mexico, South America , Japan, Australia, and Singapore , Swift will continue to perform throughout 2024 in Europe , plus a second North American leg scheduled for later this year.

On Thursday, Swift resumed The Eras Tour in France after a multi-week hiatus.

During that break, Swift released her 11th studio album, " The Tortured Poets Department " — so she adjusted the original 44-song set list to include brand new tracks, though other fan favorites (including " The Archer ," " The 1 ," and " Tolerate It ") were cut for time.

The updated show stretches for over three hours and includes 46 songs. The complete set list is cataloged below, in order of Swift's performance.

"Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The Eras Tour is Swift's first live tour since 2018. The show opener includes the lyric, "It's been a long time coming, but / It's you and me, that's my whole world."

"Cruel Summer"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Cruel Summer" was released as the second track on 2019's "Lover" and never promoted as a single.

However, once The Eras Tour was underway, the song experienced a delayed surge in popularity and became Swift's milestone 10th chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 .

"The Man"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"The Man" was promoted as the fourth single from "Lover," alongside an Easter egg-filled music video .

"You Need to Calm Down"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"You Need to Calm Down" is an ode to LGBTQ+ rights . The music video, which features a huge cast of queer celebrities , ends with a call to sign the Equality Act .

"Lover"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Lover" is the solo-written title track from Swift's seventh studio album. Before she performs the song during The Eras Tour, she tells fans that she hopes it'll hold a special meaning for each individual who hears it.

"These are songs that I have written about my life or things I felt at one point in time," she says in the concert movie. "But after tonight, when you hear these songs out and about in the world, my dream is that you're gonna think about tonight, and the memories we made here together."

"Fearless"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Fearless" is the title track for Swift's 2008 sophomore album, which is still known as the most-awarded country album of all time .

"You Belong With Me"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift won best female video for "You Belong With Me" at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards .

"Love Story"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Love Story" was the first rerecorded song that Swift ever released from her "Taylor's Version" series.

"22"

taylor swift australia tour song list

When Swift performs "22" during The Eras Tour, she always gives her bowler hat to one lucky concertgoer .

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was released as the lead single from "Red" in 2012. It became Swift's first-ever No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 .

"I Knew You Were Trouble"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The third single from "Red," coproduced by Max Martin and Shellback, peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100.

"All Too Well (10 Minute Version)"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The extended version of "All Too Well" was released as the final track on " Red (Taylor's Version) " after years of fan anticipation.

It debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becoming the longest song ever to hold the chart's top position.

"Enchanted"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Enchanted" is the only song from Swift's third album, "Speak Now," that she currently performs during The Eras Tour.

For a brief time, following the release of " Speak Now (Taylor's Version) ," Swift added the fan-favorite deep cut "Long Live" to the set list. It has since been removed.

"…Ready for It?"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"…Ready for It?" was originally teased during ABC's "Saturday Night Football" broadcast in 2017. It was later used by ESPN in college football commercials.

"Delicate"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift's performance of "Delicate" during The Eras Tour features a stage animation that cracks beneath her feet .

"Don't Blame Me"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Don't Blame Me" is the sole non-single that Swift performs during the tour's "Reputation" segment. The fan-favorite track is often cited as a highlight of the show .

"Look What You Made Me Do"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Look What You Made Me Do," which interpolates Right Said Fred's '90s hit "I'm Too Sexy," was released as the lead single from "Reputation" and debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

"Cardigan"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The No. 1 single "Cardigan" was released alongside Swift's beloved album " Folklore ." The song references Peter Pan and introduces the album's "teenage love triangle."

"Betty"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Betty" is told from the perspective of a high schooler named James , who broke the heart of the titular heroine.

"Champagne Problems"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The heart-wrenching piano ballad "Champagne Problems" often inspires a minutes-long standing ovation during The Eras Tour.

"August"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift's debut performance of "August" took place at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Later that night, she won album of the year for "Folklore," her record-tying third trophy in that category.

"Illicit Affairs"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Illicit Affairs" is widely interpreted as a song about marital infidelity, though its descriptions of forbidden love and "clandestine meetings" adopt new meanings through a queer lens .

"My Tears Ricochet"

taylor swift australia tour song list

In Swift's own words , "My Tears Ricochet" was inspired by the image of an "embittered tormentor showing up at the funeral of his fallen object of obsession."

"Marjorie"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Marjorie" is named after Swift's late grandmother, Marjorie Finlay , an opera singer who died in 2003. Finlay is credited with background vocals in the song.

"Willow"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Willow" was promoted as the lead single from " Evermore ." Like "Cardigan," it was released simultaneously with its parent album and debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

"Style"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift briefly dated Harry Styles before releasing her fifth studio album, "1989."

When Rolling Stone asked about the inspiration behind the album's third track, "Style," she replied, "We should have just called it 'I'm Not Even Sorry.'"

"Blank Space"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Blank Space" is a widely celebrated satire about Swift's reputation as a "serial dater."

"'She only writes songs to get emotional revenge on guys. She's a man-hater. Don't let her near your boyfriend,'" Swift explained at the time. "It was just kind of excessive and, you know, at first it was hurtful and then I kind of found a little comedy in it."

The song dethroned "Shake It Off" at No. 1 on the Hot 100, making Swift the first and only woman in history to replace herself in the chart's top spot. (She has since done it twice.)

"Shake It Off"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Shake It Off" was released as the lead single from "1989," Swift's official pivot from country to pop music .

The song became her first to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and remained there for four weeks. It also inspired a sketch on "Saturday Night Live"  about adults realizing they love Swift's music.

"Wildest Dreams"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Wildest Dreams" was released as the first rerecorded song from "1989 (Taylor's Version)."

"Bad Blood"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Bad Blood" was famously inspired by Swift's then-feud with Katy Perry , whom Swift accused of trying to "sabotage" her "Red" tour. (The two pop stars have long since buried the hatchet .)

The remix includes a feature from Kendrick Lamar , who returned to rerecord his verse for "1989 (Taylor's Version)."

"But Daddy I Love Him"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Following the release of her massive double album , "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," Swift added seven brand-new songs to The Eras Tour setlist.

The first is "But Daddy I Love Him," a sharp rebuke of Swift's own fans , many of whom criticized her dating life last year.

"So High School"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"So High School" is widely presumed to be about Swift's current boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce . The song's lyrics seem to reference their different professions: "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle."

"Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift is the only songwriter credited for "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

The song title is likely inspired by "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" — a celebrated play written by Edward Albee that tackles themes of truth versus illusion, fate versus choice, and feeling trapped.

"Down Bad"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Down Bad" is a heartsick serenade that compares falling in love to being abducted by aliens.

"Fortnight"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Fortnight" was promoted as the lead single from "The Tortured Poets Department," alongside a music video that costars Post Malone and references "Dead Poets Society."

"The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" is a scathing breakup song that may have been inspired by Matty Healy , whom Swift dated while writing "The Tortured Poets Department." According to reports, their relationship lasted about one month .

"I Can Do It With a Broken Heart"

taylor swift australia tour song list

In a meta twist, "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" was apparently inspired by The Eras Tour itself. The lyrics seem to reference a string of concerts last year, when Swift felt "miserable" but continued to perform as usual ("They said, 'Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it,' and I did").

Surprise Song No. 1

taylor swift australia tour song list

During each show on The Eras Tour, Swift performs a two-song acoustic set that changes every night . The first song is always played on acoustic guitar.

The first-ever surprise song Swift played in Arizona was "Mirrorball." For the first stop on the European leg, she chose the "Midnights" bonus cut "Paris."

Surprise Song No. 2

taylor swift australia tour song list

The second surprise song of the evening is always played on the piano.

In Arizona, Swift's first-ever surprise song on piano was "Tim McGraw," the lead single from her 2006 debut album. For night one in France, Swift played the "Tortured Poets" heartbreaker "Loml."

"Lavender Haze"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Lavender Haze" is the opening track on Swift's 10th studio album " Midnights ."

"Anti-Hero"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Anti-Hero" was promoted as the lead single from "Midnights." It debuted at No. 1 and became Swift's biggest hit to date, reigning atop the chart for eight weeks.

The same week that "Anti-Hero" arrived in the top spot, Swift became the first and only artist in history to  occupy the entire top 10 on the Hot 100 .

"Midnight Rain"

taylor swift australia tour song list

"Midnight Rain" doubles as a breakup song and an ode to Swift's own ambitions: "He wanted it comfortable, I wanted that pain / He wanted a bride, I was making my own name," she sings, calling back to the rejection of '50s gender roles in "Lavender Haze."

"Vigilante Shit"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Put simply, "Vigilante Shit" is about getting revenge. Many fans believe the song was inspired by Scooter Braun , who purchased Swift's back catalog in 2019. Less than two years later, he sold Swift's master recordings to a private equity company .

"Bejeweled"

taylor swift australia tour song list

The music video for "Bejeweled"  includes a variety of celebrity cameos, including Laura Dern, the Haim sisters, and Dita Von Teese.

"Mastermind"

taylor swift australia tour song list

In the chorus of "Mastermind," Swift seems to serenade her longtime fans: "What if I told you I'm a mastermind? / And now you're mine."

The song also references Swift's penchant for Easter eggs and her keen business acumen, which has allowed her to build a billion-dollar empire .

"I'm sick of women not being able to say that they have strategic business minds — because male artists are allowed to," Swift told Rolling Stone in 2019. "And so I'm sick and tired of having to pretend like I don't mastermind my own business."

"Karma"

taylor swift australia tour song list

Swift closes the elaborate show with "Karma," a song that mocks her enemies and salutes her own longevity: "Ask me what I learned from all those years / Ask me what I earned from all those tears / Ask me why so many fade, but I'm still here."

Taylor Swift announces Australian tour dates with top tickets going for more than $1,200

Blond woman in sparkly top points at camera against purple backdrop

Swifties waiting with bated breath have had their prayers answered, with Taylor Swift finally revealing the Australian dates on her Eras world concert tour.

The pop star will be journeying down under for five dates in February 2024.

However, Swift fans on a budget might be in store for a Cruel Summer as the top VIP packages are being sold for $1,249.99 .

For reference, the most recent ATO data from 2020-2021 puts the median Australian taxable income at  $980 per week .

The top VIP package, officially known as the It's Been A Long Time Coming package secures fans "One Unforgettable A Reserve Floor Ticket", four prints of the artist, a tote bag, a pin, a tour lanyard and a sticker and postcard set.

The other five VIP packages contain identical extras but gradually worsening seats from B Reserve to E Reserve and cost from $349.99 and $899.90 .

An A Reserve ticket by itself is $379.90 – a difference of $870 from the VIP package with the same ticket tier.

More wallet-conscious Swift fans can pay between $309.90 for B Reserve tickets down to $79.90 for a spot in the G reserve seats in the nosebleeds.

Last time Swift took a tour of Australia in 2018, the top VIP packages set fans back about $820 and included a personal message from Swift, a hardcover book and a CD.

Taylor Swift told her 112 million Instagram followers that she was voting for the Democrats.

Which Australian cities are on Taylor Swift's Eras tour?

In terms of how many cities she's visiting, the tour is pretty small.

Swift won't even complete a full east coast tour for her Australian Eras leg, stopping only at Sydney for three nights and Melbourne for two nights .

This is the first time Swift has skipped Brisbane in five tour cycles.

She played in Brisbane and Perth when she came to Australia last time, which was her Reputation tour back in 2018.

How many tickets will go on sale?

We don't have exact figures.

The capacity for the MCG, where Swift is performing two Melbourne shows, is more than 100,000 people .

Sydney's Accor stadium, where she will be playing three shows, has a capacity of 83,500 .

Which means there could be some 450,000 tickets up for sale.

Having a truncated Australian tour means Swift won't come near the record of most tickets sold for an Australian tour after Ed Sheeran shifted over 1 million tickets to his 2018 divide tour.

Sheeran performed 18 stadium shows across the country to achieve the feat.

How do you get tickets to Taylor Swift's Australian Eras tour?

Judging by the reaction to tickets for the US, it might be a tricky feat getting your hands on one.

In November last year, Ticketmaster cancelled the public sale of Swift's US tour "due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand".

Ticketmaster pinned it on its "verified fans" system , aimed at eliminating bots and scalpers, which couldn't keep up with the demand as a reported 3.5 million people tried to get tickets.

Swift's Australian Eras tour doesn't rely on the verified fans system but if you're forking out hundreds for the VIP packages you will be able to access tickets sooner.

The first tickets go on pre-sale on June 26 , but there are a few catches.

To access these tickets you have to hold an American Express card and fork out for one of the top two VIP packages — so, the most expensive tickets.

The Frontier Member pre-sale , which has a much lower bar of entry, begins on June 28 and finally, the general public will be able to buy tickets from 2pm local time on June 30 .

However, If you manage to get your hands on tickets next week, you're not going to receive anything until a week before your show.

This is called ticket suppression and it aims to dissuade scalpers from buying up tickets and reselling them.

There's also a purchase limit of four tickets per transaction.

Swift has been friends with Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim for so long that she’s often called the fourth Haim sister, and she proves her loyalty by including one of their earliest singles, “My Song 5,” on the playlist.

Griff - “Shade of Yellow”

Swift has shown support to Griff in the past by sending flowers and including her on Apple Music playlists, so it only makes sense that she also puts “Shade of Yellow” on her pre-show playlist.

niceboy ed - “life you lead”

This song started a slew of Swiftie conspiracy theories after Swift used it in a 2022 TikTok video, and fans discovered that niceboy ed’s identity is completely unknown. The mysterious artist has only released two more singles since then, and their inclusion on the Eras Tour playlist only raises more questions about who they are.

Suki Waterhouse - “Moves”

While it’s not one of her most public friendships, Swift has been friends with Suki Waterhouse for quite some time, even singing her praises to SSENSE in August. “She is the wildest person I know who I would also trust to keep any secret,” she said of Waterhouse.

boygenius - “True Blue”

Phoebe Bridgers, one of the boygenius members, collaborated with Swift on “Nothing New” and opened for her on the May 2023 dates of the Eras Tour, so it’s only natural that her band with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus make an appearance on the pre-show playlist.

Florence + the Machine - “King”

Swift’s inclusion of Florence + the Machine’s “King” was seen as a nod to her constant collaborator Jack Antonoff, who produced the song, but it also turned out to be a Swiftian Easter egg for her track with Florence, “Florida!!!” on The Tortured Poets Department .

HAIM - “3 AM”

Swift also included HAIM’s 2020 track “3 AM,” from their Grammy Album of the Year-nominated Women in Music Pt III .

Lil Nas X - “THAT’S WHAT I WANT”

In an adorable full-circle moment, Lil Nas X attended one of Swift’s Chicago shows in June and danced to his own hit while waiting for her to take the stage.

MUNA - “Number One Fan”

MUNA was among the many Eras Tour openers in the U.S., so it’s natural that their anthem, “Number One Fan,” gets a shoutout on the playlist.

Lenny Kravitz - “American Woman”

Swift used Lenny Kravitz’s “American Woman” as her entrance song on the Red Tour, playing it right before she took the stage. Its inclusion on the Eras Tour playlist is a nice throwback nod.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Pre-Show Playlist Includes Easter Eggs

Ethel Cain - “American Teenager”

Swift cleverly contrasts “American Woman” with Ethel Cain’s “American Teenager,” giving two different perspectives on girlhood.

Taylor Swift - “False God”

It’s not known why Swift chose Lover deep-cut “False God” to be the lone representative of her catalog on her pre-show playlist, but it is one of the album’s best songs, so I’m not mad about it.

Hamilton Leithauser - “A 1000 Times”

Singer-songwriter Hamilton Leithauser is friendly with Lucy Dacus, who’s mentioned on Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department , which proves there should be a Six Degrees of Taylor Swift function à la Kevin Bacon .

Kenny Chesney - “Big Star”

Swift was supposed to open for Kenny Chesney on one of his tours but had to drop out because Bud Light was a sponsor, and she was underage at the time. However, the country singer gave her a bonus that jumpstarted her career, so her inclusion of “Big Star” nods to his act of kindness.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Pre-Show Playlist Includes Easter Eggs

Steve Lacy - “Bad Habit”

Swift was clearly feeling Steve Lacy’s performance of “Bad Habit” at the 2022 Grammys, which carried over to the Eras Tour.

Bakar - “Hell N Back”

Bakar released “Hell N Back” in 2019, but it only started going viral in the past year, when it also seemingly caught Swift’s attention.

Saweetie - “Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat)”

Given that Swift has many best friends, some of which are featured on the Eras Tour, it’s no surprise that she added Saweetie’s ode to friendship to her playlist.

Doja Cat - “Boss Bitch”

Doja Cat may also have something to do with Swift putting “Best Friend” on her playlist, as she also included the rapper’s viral track “Boss Bitch.”

King Princess - “For My Friends”

Swift has been a fan of King Princess since she rose to fame, even mentioning the singer during her Billboard Woman of the Decade speech in 2019.

Florence + the Machine - “Free”

If “King” wasn’t enough of an Easter egg, Swift's addition of a second Florence song, “Free,” to her pre-show playlist should have been a surefire sign of what was to come.

BLACKPINK - “Pink Venom”

Swift was spotted dancing when BLACKPINK performed “Pink Venom” at the 2022 Video Music Awards. Clearly, she’s a Blink.

Janet Jackson - “All For You”

Swift and Del Rey nodded to Janet Jackson’s 2000 hit “All For You” on “Snow on the Beach,” making it a fitting song to play before the Eras Tour.

Paramore - “Misery Business”

Not only is Swift longtime friends with Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams, but she also collaborated with her on Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) . Plus, the band opened for the first two shows of the Eras Tour and rejoined Swift in Europe, where she specifically requested that they add “Misery Business” to their setlist. Basically, all roads led to this song going on the playlist.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Pre-Show Playlist Includes Easter Eggs

boygenius - “$20”

Swift was inspired to add another boygenius song, perhaps after Baker and Dacus joined Bridgers during her first Eras Tour set.

Fall Out Boy - “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark”

Swift added Fall Out Boy’s long-winded 2013 hit a few shows into the tour, likely as an Easter egg for their collaboration “Electric Touch” on Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Raye & 070 Shake - “Escapism.”

Raye is a known fan of Swift , praising her for re-recording her first six albums.

Faith Hill - “This Kiss”

Faith Hill and her husband, Tim McGraw, have been friends and mentors of Swift since the start of her career (with the latter being the namesake of her debut single), so it’s no surprise that one of Hill’s biggest hits gets a nod during the Eras Tour.

Sabrina Carpenter - “Nonsense”

Swift's inclusion of Sabrina Carpenter’s viral hit “Nonsense” turned out to be an Easter egg hinting at her being the opening act for Eras Tour dates in Latin America, Australia, and Singapore.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Pre-Show Playlist Includes Easter Eggs

Ice Spice - “In Ha Mood”

If you hear Ice Spice’s voice blaring through the speakers, it’s time to head to your seat. Swift including the rapper’s breakout single “In Ha Mood” ended up being an Easter egg for the duo’s “Karma” remix.

Lady Gaga - “Applause”

Swift is a noted Little Monster, having praised Lady Gaga’s single “Applause” back in 2013. As the penultimate song to play before the Eras Tour, it plays as if Swift is demanding applause and hyping up the crowd for her arrival.

Lesley Gore - “You Don’t Own Me”

As the two-minute-and-13-second countdown begins, Lesley Gore’s 1963 classic “You Don’t Own Me” plays over the speakers and usually causes an empowering sing-along in the crowd. It’s an apt choice for Swift’s pre-entrance song amid her re-recording process, sending a clear message that her music is hers and hers alone.

New Songs Added To 2024 Eras Tour Playlist

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Pre-Show Playlist Includes Easter Eggs

Holly Humberstone - “Down Swinging”

Australian artist Holly Humberstone seems to be a newer discovery for Swift, given how the two singers have yet to speak about each other.

Maisie Peters - “History of Man”

Maisie Peters’ new single was produced by Swift’s good friend and collaborator Ed Sheeran, making its inclusion a subtle nod to both artists.

Camila Cabello - “I LUV IT (feat. Playboi Carti)”

Camila Cabello previously opened for Swift on 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour, and given how Swift added her new single “I LUV IT” to her playlist, they have seemingly stayed close since then.

Doja Cat - “Agora Hills”

Swift adding a third Doja Cat song, the 2023 single “Agora Hills,” to the playlist shows how big of a stan she is.

Gracie Abrams - “Risk”

At first, Swift's addition of Abrams’ new single “Risk” to the playlist seemed like a nod to her frequent Eras Tour opener, who will rejoin the tour in October. However, it ended up also being another Easter egg about their collaboration “Us” on Abrams’ upcoming album, Secret of Us .

Rudimental - “Waiting All Night (feat. Ella Eyre)”

There’s no known connection between Swift and Rudimental, which just means that she must be a fan of the song .

Every surprise song Taylor Swift has performed on the ‘Eras Tour’ so far

During every “Eras Tour” concert, there comes a time that audiences are always waiting for: surprise-song o’clock.

This is when Taylor Swift sits down with just a guitar and a piano to play acoustic versions of two songs — sometimes mashups, sometimes not — that change between each show. And fans don’t know what songs she’s chosen that night until the surprise-song set starts.

Swift resumed her "Eras Tour" May 9 in Paris , fresh on the heels of releasing her 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on April 29. While the setlist saw some significant changes — including the addition of a new era — Swift upheld her tradition of performing surprise songs.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Melbourne, Australia

Last year, Swift said she’d aim not to repeat surprise songs during the “Eras Tour,” leaving fans to track each night’s performances like detectives, watching their favorite songs get picked off in the lead up to their own concert date. But after Swift announced that she “reset” the eligibility of all songs for 2024 and introduced twists, it’s impossible to predict what she’ll do next.

Intrepid Swifties keeping record of all the songs Swift has performed have noted that, while there are several songs that have been played multiple times, there are some songs that the singer has not at all. Those include:

Taylor Swift catches a lot of heat over jet travel. Here's her actual impact

H ow did Taylor Swift become a lightning rod in the debate over carbon dioxide emissions, and just how much does her private jet contribute to global warming?

The Eras Tour superstar is known for boosting economies, being taught at universities like Harvard , rerecording her music and breaking records with new album releases including "The Tortured Poets Department." She has also gained attention for flying her private jet (she sold her second one) around the world for concert stops, to do business and meet with friends in New York, rehearse in Los Angeles, see her family in Nashville and visit her boyfriend Travis Kelce in Kansas City, Missouri.

Conversation began in 2022

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

In the summer of 2022, Kylie Jenner posted a photo (that's since been deleted) of her and Travis Scott's private planes with the caption, “You wanna take mine or yours?” The backlash led the Yard , a content and public relations firm, to publish a study of which celebrities produced the most private jet emissions that year. The publication put Miss Americana as the top of the list.

The Yard has added a disclaimer to the top of the study that reads in part: "Following the release of our data, Rolling Stone contacted each of the celebrities' representatives for comment. Taylor Swift's representative said the following: 'Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.'"

The jet tracking student

Amid the hype in 2022, a student studying information technology at University of Central Florida (UCF) started to track Swift's two jets. Jack Sweeney set up an automated system that posted updates when the billionaire's private planes departed and landed. His account took off during Swift's trips to NFL games as fans checked to see if she would attend to root on the Kansas City Chiefs .

The increased attention outraged Swifties who said Sweeney invaded the tortured poet's privacy and posed a security threat .

"It's all public record, you have this information at your fingertips," he says over Zoom. "There's an interest by fans, but others are upset. They think I'm stalking (Swift) when I'm just sharing public information."

His fascination with tracking planes began during the coronavirus pandemic in 2021. Sweeney looked into Elon Musk's planes and posted information about his jets. At one point, he says, Musk offered him $5,000 to shut down the X/Twitter account. The UCF student talked to a journalist instead, and the deal was off the table.

Musk, the owner of X/Twitter, banned Sweeney's accounts. With his Instagram account garnering close to 100,000 followers last winter, Meta also pulled the plug.

Swift's team sent Sweeney two cease-and-desist letters saying the tracking was endangering the singer and a "life-or-death matter." The student hired a lawyer and after releasing a public letter and doing some interviews , the back-and-forth grew cold.

When asked about security, the Sweeney says, "Other people have done a similar type of thing where they're posting about her planes. When she flew to Brazil, the news was livestreaming at the airport. If my tracking goes away, there's still going to be stuff like that, and she travels with a security team. The airport is one of the most secure places."

Swift sold one of her two private jets at the beginning of the year. An animation shows the 2023 trips of Swift's two jets that added up to 178,000 miles, emitting 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide. The majority of those flights were to Los Angles, New York, Nashville and concert stops for the 2023 Eras Tour .

If you search for lists of top carbon-emitting celebrities, there are conflicting reports. MyClimate ranked a list of celebrities in 2023 by their carbon emissions and didn't put the Eras Tour singer in the top 20 , giving Travis Scott, Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk the highest ratings.

Swift's impact on the environment

Payless Power did a conservative prediction of Swift's jet travel for 2024 including her 86 shows in 27 Asian, Australian, European and North American cities.

"The goal of the study was to look into renewable energy," says Adi Sachdeva, a project manager with Payless Power. "Her tour is one of the biggest tours that have ever existed."

Using data from the Myclimate Carbon Tracker, the Texas-based company created a report projecting the jet's carbon emissions, not including any detours the singer may make between stops.

They noted Swift will fly an estimated 43,688 kilometers and emit 511,154 kilograms of CO2 for the Eras Tour. To put this into perspective, it's the equivalent of driving 1,307,311 miles in a gasoline-powered passenger vehicle. It's also equivalent to the emissions made from 67 households in an entire year.

Although this may seem like a lot for the singer conducting a record-breaking tour across the world, the report states her 2024 travel still doesn't come close to the top celebrity emitters of 2023: Travis Scott (6.06 million kilograms of CO2), Kim Kardashian (5.86 million) and Elon Musk (4.56 million).

"We wanted to make comparisons to individuals, in general," Sachdeva says. "A lot of times you'll see these large numbers online of a private jet but without seeing what that means, people will go with the numbers that seem very large without knowing their own emissions."

An environmentalist weighs in

Nick Loris, the vice president of public policy for C3 Solutions , a conservative climate coalition looking to improve energy abundance and energy affordability, helps to put Swift's jet-setting impact into perspective.

"While aviation is important and private aviation is a pretty high contributor to the industry, it's still a relatively small percentage of overall global greenhouse gas emissions," he says. "Some of the top emissions are caused by the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat and transportation, so coal, oil and to a lesser extent natural gas. Buildings use a lot of energy, and we primarily use gasoline and diesel to get around. Industry and agriculture are other fairly big contributors.”

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, aircraft accounts for 9% of carbon-related emissions in the United States. Private jets produce at least 10 times more emissions than commercial flights per passenger.

Loris notes the reality is Swift can't fly commercial. It would lead to a surfeit of issues with logistics and security; consider the circle of security guards that surround her on red carpets.

So what are the solutions?

Loris says Swift's overall impact to emissions, in 2022, was about 0.000000225% after dividing her emissions, 8,300 metric tons, by global greenhouse gas emissions of 36.8 gigatons. Her percentage for 2023 and 2024 may be slightly higher with her tour travel.

Tree Paine, Swift's publicist, told Bloomberg News in 2023 the singer-songwriter purchased more than double the credits needed to offset all her travel .

"There are a few challenges with carbon credits," Loris says. "There are a lot of good activities that result from carbon offset projects, things like reforestation projects, different types of direct air capture technologies or investments in renewable power. The challenge is there are also a lot of junk carbon offsets where the project may have been built anyway and therefore there was no additional reduction in emissions. It's also important that carbon offset projects are measurable and durable. Let's say you purchased carbon offsets for a reforestation project in California, and then all of those burn up in a forest wildfire. That would release pollution and CO2 into the atmosphere and undo the carbon offset."

Loris says with all the increased attention, the singer could become a vocal advocate for jet-setting solutions and an investor in new and innovative technology such as sustainable aviation fuels or direct air capture (essentially a carbon-sucking vacuum).

Swift is on the European leg of the Eras Tour . She has shows in 15 more cities across the continent before heading to North America in the fall.
