Red hot summer tour unveils 2024 lineup: jimmy barnes, birds of tokyo, the living end and more.

The ever-popular summer rock series has announced a crackin' lineup for 2024.

Following a massive run last summer with Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning and Missy Higgins, the Aussie-centered music festival has announced it will return this summer for eight events across the country.

This year, the show will feature the legendary Jimmy Barnes , as well as The Living End , Birds of Tokyo , Pete Murray , Kasey Chambers and Barnes’ daughter’s band Mahalia Barnes and the Soulmates .

Spanning the summer holiday season, the Red Hot Summer Tour brings a banging day of music to some of the most scenic and serene towns across the country. It’ll start out in WA’s Swan Valley in late 2023 before heading over east in the new year and finishing up in Tasmania.

Affectionately known by all as Barnesy, Jimmy Barnes is the heart and soul of Australian rock and roll. He has more #1 albums under his belt than The Beatles and has sold more records in Australia than any other rock and roll artist. For over 40 years, he has delivered some of our most intense and iconic live performances. He is truly in a league of his own.

The Living End are considered Australian rock legends, and for good reason. Their blistering live performances have seen them perform far and wide and their reputation precedes them – they rock from the first note to the last. They have been nominated for an incredible 27 ARIA Awards.

Birds of Tokyo are considered the soundtrack of contemporary Australia. With three chart-topping albums jam-packed with Top 10 hits such as Good Lord, Plans, Unbreakable, and Lanterns, they have grown from their independent roots to become one of our most popular bands.

Pete Murray is one of the only few Australian artists with more than 1.2 million album sales. A multi-platinum-selling performer, he has received 17 ARIA nominations and has released seven albums and two EPs. His first three albums were all #1s on the Australian music charts and his debut album Feeler not only reached #1 but remained in the Top 100 for two and a half years.

Kasey Chambers is one of Australia’s most revered singer-songwriters. Her 1999 album The Captain is still considered one of the most extraordinary and lauded debuts from any artist, and she hasn’t stopped since. Her follow-up – Barricades & Brickwalls – saw her become the first Australian country artist to have a simultaneously #1 single and album.

Born into Australian rock royalty and influenced by the music her father, Jimmy Barnes, recorded and played, Mahalia Barnes naturally began singing at a very young age. As an artist, she’s drawn to guitar-driven gusty soul, rock and blues, and inspired by acts like Tina Turner and legendary Queen of soul Aretha Franklin.

The RED HOT SUMMER TOUR is gearing up for a massive 2024, kicking it all off with a huge Series One announcement headlined by Jimmy Barnes, with The Living End, Birds of Tokyo, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers & Mahalia Barnes and the Soulmates. The Series launches in Western Australia at the end of 2023, and rolls into 2024 with shows in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.

For tour promoter Duane McDonald, the announcement of Series One is the start of what will be one of the biggest years for the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR yet. “We are so excited to start off the 2024 RED HOT SUMMER TOUR with Jimmy Barnes and friends,” he says. “Thank you to everyone who continues to support live music at the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR year after year. We look forward to seeing you again this summer!”

Never one to slow down, Jimmy also has penned two books – a children’s book, Rosie the Rhinoceros , and a cookbook with his wife Jane, Where the River Bends.

Jimmy Barnes says he is looking forward to the Series One shows. “I’m very happy to be hitting the road with the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR,” he says. “After my surgery, I am happy to announce that not only am I back on my feet, I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve been in years. When The Living End first smashed onto the scene in 1997 with their double-A single Prisoner of Society and Second Solution , they embraced a new Australian sound and fans and critics sat up and listened. Since then, they have released seven studio albums, two of which have debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart – four of those are Platinum and two are Gold. They have been nominated for an incredible 27 ARIA Awards.

Birds of Tokyo are considered the soundtrack of contemporary Australia. With three chart topping albums, jam-packed with Top 10 hits such as Good Lord, Plans, Unbreakable, and Lanterns , they have grown from independent roots to become one of our most popular bands. They’ve performed at the AFL Grand Final twice, the NRL State of Origin and performed with the likes of Bon Jovi, Muse and Midnight Oil. Presale tickets for Series One of the 2024 RED HOT SUMMER TOUR go on sale at 10am local time on Tuesday 23 rd May until 11.59pm local time on Wednesday 24 th May through Ticketmaster.

Jimmy Barnes, Birds of Tokyo, The Living End and more lead the ever-popular summer rock series' crackin' lineup for 2024.

Following a massive run last summer with Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning and Missy Higgins, the Aussie-centered music festival Red Hot Summer Tour has announced it will return this summer for eight events across the country as part of its Series One instalment.

This year, the show will feature the legendary Jimmy Barnes, as well as The Living End, Birds of Tokyo, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers and Barnes’ daughter’s band Mahalia Barnes and the Soulmates, bringing along the same lineup as the recently announced By The C in Torquay.

Spanning the summer holiday season, the Red Hot Summer Tour brings a banging day of music to some of the most scenic and serene towns across the country. It’ll start out in WA’s Swan Valley in late 2023 before heading over east in the new year and finishing up in Tasmania, with more dates to be announced soon.

For tour promoter Duane McDonald, the announcement of Series One is the start of what will be one of the biggest years for the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR yet.

Affectionately known by all as Barnesy, Jimmy Barnes is the heart and soul of Australian rock and roll. He has more #1 albums under his belt than The Beatles and has sold more records in Australia than any other rock and roll artist. For over 40 years, he has delivered some of our most intense and iconic live performances. He is truly in a league of his own.

The Living End are considered Australian rock legends, and for good reason. Their blistering live performances have seen them perform far and wide and their reputation precedes them – they rock from the first note to the last. They have been nominated for an incredible 27 ARIA Awards.

Birds of Tokyo are considered the soundtrack of contemporary Australia. With three chart-topping albums jam-packed with Top 10 hits such as Good Lord, Plans, Unbreakable, and Lanterns, they have grown from their independent roots to become one of our most popular bands.

Pete Murray is one of the only few Australian artists with more than 1.2 million album sales. A multi-platinum-selling performer, he has received 17 ARIA nominations and has released seven albums and two EPs. Kasey Chambers is one of Australia’s most revered singer-songwriters. Her follow-up – Barricades & Brickwalls – saw her become the first Australian country artist to have a simultaneously #1 single and album.

Born into Australian rock royalty and influenced by the music her father, Jimmy Barnes, recorded and played, Mahalia Barnes naturally began singing at a very young age. Organisers of the Red Hot Summer Tour have announced its first series of concerts for 2024, which will begin with one date this November this year, before further shows in January and February next year.

Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes will headline the shows. At each of the eight dates, Barnesy will be joined by The Living End , Birds of Tokyo , Pete Murray and Kasey Chambers . Barnes’ daughter Mahalia Barnes will open each of the shows with her band, the Soulmates.

Red Hot Summer Tour’s first series of 2024 will begin with a show at Sandalford Wines in Swan Valley, Western Australia. Throughout the first two months of next year, it will travel to Kiama, Batemans Bay and the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Mornington and Bendigo in Victoria, Mannum in South Australia and Launceston in Tasmania. See dates and venues below – tickets go on sale this Thursday, 25th May at 10am local time.

“I’m very happy to be hitting the road with the Red Hot Summer Tour,” said Barnes, adding that he is not only “back on my feet” but “fitter and stronger than I’ve been in years” after undergoing back and hip surgery late last year.

The singer cancelled a slew of planned tour dates to recover from the procedure, but in February said he had been given the “all clear” by his doctor to head to Thailand for physio treatment. “It’s a great line-up and it will be a killer tour,” Barnes added of his forthcoming Red Hot Summer dates. “I look forward to seeing you all there.”

This week, Barnes will release the debut self-titled album from his Barnestormers project, a supergroup that also includes The Living End’s  Chris Cheney , UK pianist  Jools Holland , Stray Cats drummer  Slim Jim Phantom , and producer  Kevin ‘Caveman’ Shirley .

A Jimmy Barnes ‘Supergroup’ Will Fill In For Him At First 2024 Gigs

The ultimate Barnesy tribute will be led by some of his closest friends and family, including daughter Mahalia and fellow Cold Chisel icon Ian Moss.

As he continues to recover from his recent open-heart surgery – with the latest update being that he’ll be out of the hospital in time for Christmas – it makes sense that Jimmy Barnes won’t be able to perform at the first few shows of the next Red Hot Summer tour. But as he’s now revealed, his place on the bill will be filled by the next best thing: a supergroup of Barnesy’s closest friends and family.

The group will comprise Barnes’ full live band, fronted by daughter Mahalia , with a jaw-dropping cast of special guests joining them for the occasion. The roster includes Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens – who will also play a set of his own at the shows, delivering both Noiseworks and INXS material – as well as The Living End leader Chris Cheney , and Barnesy’s own Cold Chisel bandmate (and icon in his own right) Ian Moss .

Moss will be performing “a very special set of songs” from the Cold Chisel catalogue and Barnes’ discography, which has been curated specially for these shows by Barnes.

The shows affected by the lineup change are those set to go down in Kiama (slated for Saturday January 6 at the Kiama Showground), Mornington (on Saturday January 13 at the Mornington Racecourse) and Mannum (Saturday January 20 at the Mary Ann Reserve). That lattermost show will also feature Barnes’ son David Campbell in the aforementioned supergroup.

The next three shows on the tour have also been rescheduled so that Barnes will be able to perform at them: the Hunter Valley show will now be held at the Roche Estate on Saturday April 6, while Launceston’s show at the Country Club Lawns will happen on Saturday April 13, and the Bendigo Racecourse show will happen on Saturday April 27. Another show, initially slated for Saturday January 27 in Batemans Bay, has been cancelled altogether due to the lack of a suitable date for it to be rescheduled on.

In a new statement shared on social media, Barnes said of the lineup changes: “It’s been an eventful few weeks to say the least but one thing that’s put a big smile on my face are the mates I have around me who have my back. Thank you so much to my dear friends Mossy, Jon and Chris who will be joining my wonderful, powerhouse of a daughter to perform special, unique shows for you in January with my live band.

“In my home state of South Australia, my son David Campbell will also join them on stage to round out this amazing supergroup of family and friends. I’m a lucky guy. I’m going to be working hard to get back to full strength over the next few months so I can get back on stage for you in April and join my friends from The Living End and Birds Of Tokyo as well as Pete, Kasey and Mahalia And The Soul Mates on stage in the Hunter Valley, Launceston and Bendigo.”

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Tuesday, Red River Cultural District released the new music artist venue lineup for  Hot Summer Nights 2024 .

“Founded in 2017, Hot Summer Nights was originally created in an effort to provide additional revenue to district members, as well as paid opportunities for musicians and artists in the traditionally slower summer months,” organizers said.

More than 125 acts were invited to perform at 14 music venues July 18-20. The festival is free and will take place at venues near Red River Street.

Organizers said the venues included the debut of Red River venues Waterloo Park and Liberty Lunch, as well as returning locations like Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, Mohawk, Cheer Up Charlies, The 13th Floor and more.

The festival will have new daytime programming, food specials and special parties, according to organizers.

Free music? Yes, please. Here's a first look at Austin's Hot Summer Nights lineup

The Red River Cultural District is bringing 14 downtown music venues together for a packed three-night festival.

Hot Summer Nights will take place July 18-20 with music beginning around 7 to 8 p.m each night. The concert series is free, and participating venues include Cheer Up Charlies, Elysium, Mohawk, Stubb's Bar-B-Q, Valhalla and more.

Special events happening this year include a karaoke party, night market in partnership with Future Front Texas, a Sunday gospel brunch at Stubb's and daytime fitness and lifestyle programming at Waterloo Park.

"New restaurants and cocktail spots are participating, and we've added some new venues to the lineup," Nicole Klepadlo, Red River Cultural District interim executive director, said in a statement. "This growth is a true testament to the cultural richness of our community and the significant cultural and economic impact it has on drawing in visitors while creating opportunities for local businesses, musicians and creatives."
