The Horn Section Announces First-Ever Tour With Zac Brown Band, Robert Randolph

The Horn Section , featuring former  Turkuaz members Josh Schwartz ,  Greg Sanderson , and  Chris Brouwers , will mount its first-ever tour this year playing alongside Zac Brown Band . The extensive schedule of 2022 dates will carry the respective baritone saxophonist, tenor saxophonist, and trumpeter from April through November.

Also lending a hand to opening act Robert Randolph Band , The Horn Section will join Zac Brown’s  Out In The Middle Tour  beginning on April 22nd in Greenville, SC. Together, the bands will travel North America playing marquee shows at  Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL (7/9);  Fenway Park  in Boston, MA (7/15);  Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center  (formerly known as Deer Creek) in Noblesville, IN (7/28);  Citi Field  in New York, NY (8/18);  Climate Pledge Arena  in Seattle, WA (10/20);  Hollywood Bowl  in Los Angeles, CA (11/4); and Chase Field  in Phoenix, AZ (11/19).

News of the extensive tour comes as the latest announcement from The Horn Section, which officially formed shortly after Schwartz, Brouwers, Sanderson, and four other members of Turkuaz announced their departure from the band late last year. Since making its debut as an artist-at-large at the inaugural  North Beach Music Festival   in December, the trio has also joined the lineup for  Summer Camp Music Festival . Additionally, The Horn Section will serve as a special guest for The Motet   during a co-headlining show with  Pigeons Playing Ping Pong  at  Red Rocks Amphitheatre  on May 27th. That Motet set will also see them perform alongside their former Turkuaz bandmates Shira Elias  and  Sammi Garrett , who are on board to provide vocal assistance.

Horne Section Hit Tour

The Horne Section Embark on Brand New Tour With The Horne Section’s Hit Show

Five outstanding musicians and one non-musical stand-up tune their instruments to hit the road as they embark on a brand-new tour with  The Horne Section’s Hit Show , bringing musical mayhem across the UK from Wednesday 6 th  March to Thursday 21 st  November.

Tickets go on general on sale on Friday 17 th  November, with a pre-sale via the band’s  mailing list  on Thursday 16 th  November­­­­­. Tickets can be found at  thehornesection.com .

Performing soon-to-be top hits, the six-headed musical comedy band bring their trademark unruly, ridiculous, and surprisingly satisfying stylings to an array of brand new songs. Expect plentiful enthusiastic dancing, party games, and a lot of mucking about, led by creator and co-host of BAFTA and National Comedy Award-winning hit TV show,  Taskmaster , Alex Horne.

Having starred in their debut sitcom  The Horne Section TV Show  on Channel 4 which was described as  “riotously fun… [and] an utter delight”  (The Guardian  ★★★★ ), and “a first-class comedy” (The Sunday Times Online). The sitcom is returning for a second series on Channel 4, while t heir previous TV credits include being featured on Channel 4’s  The Last Leg  including  Last Leg Christmas Special  and  Last Leg: The Last Leg of the Year,  and being the in-house band on BBC One’s  Peter Crouch’s Year Late Euros  and  Peter Crouch’s Save Our Summer , which Horne also co-hosted .  They have featured in Dictionary Corner on  8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown  (Channel 4),  The   Royal Variety Performance 2018  (ITV), as well as the 2 hour special  The Horne Section Television Programme  on UKTV’s Dave filmed at the London Palladium, while the band have hosted three series of  Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section  on BBC Radio 4.

The band’s iTunes chart topping podcast  The Horne Section Podcast  is Shortlists’ Best Comedy Podcast, while the band collaborated with Romesh Ranganathan’s  Hip Hop Saved My Life  podcast in an exclusive podcast mashup with Acast and Comic Relief. Separately, members of The Horne Section have performed with recording artists including Robbie Williams, Madness, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse, George Ezra, Basement Jaxx, Discolsure and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Taskmaster star Alex Horne is taking his band The Horne Section on tour

Established in 2010, the group's mixture of music and stand-up comedy has seen them become regulars at the Edinburgh Festival and on Radio 4. They've also appeared as the house band on shows from 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown to The Last Leg of the Year .

The regular Horne Section Podcast has seen them team up with Taskmaster stars including Jessica Knappett, Mike Wozniak and Katherine Ryan, to name just a few, as well as sports stars like Chris Hoy, and musicians from Robbie Williams to Aquaman composer Rupert Gregson-Williams.

Alex has recently been teasing that Taskmaster fans can expect changes to the opening titles for the upcoming Champion of Champions miniseries , among other format tweaks, as he wants the episodes to feel "special from the very first second".

Taskmaster airs on Channel 4. Series 12 and the new Champion of Champions miniseries are expected to premiere later in 2021.

Channel 4 Announces Alex Horne’s Scripted Comedy Series ‘The Horne Section TV Show’

Channel 4 is today announcing the commission of The Horne Section TV Show. The new six-part scripted comedy series is written by and starring Alex Horne (creator of BAFTA and National Comedy Award Winning Taskmaster) and his band, The Horne Section.

The Horne Section TV Show piloted last year and has now been picked up for a series by Channel 4 following multiple appearances on Channel 4’s The Last Leg, and Dictionary Corner on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Away from the screen they host the iTunes chart topping podcast The Horne Section Podcast and three series of Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section on BBC Radio 4. Horne has been working with the band since 2010, when they first performed together at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Separately, members of The Horne Section have performed with recording artists including Robbie Williams, Madness, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse, George Ezra, Basement Jaxx, Disclosure and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Alex Horne said: "I've always thought the title of a show is indicative of the quality of the writing within a show, so "The Horne Section TV Show" looks set to be pretty special. I've known some of these musicians for over forty years and I can safely say that it's very weird that any of them are now going to be in a six-part scripted comedy series on Channel 4."

The Executive Producers are Alex Horne, James Taylor, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner for Avalon. The series is produced by Matt Stronge and directed by Barbara Wiltshire. About Alex Horne

Award-winning comedian Alex Horne is the creator and co-host of the BAFTA and National Comedy Award-winning hit TV show Taskmaster (Dave/Channel 4). The event, “The Uptown Horns Party”, ran for two years, and featured many special guest artists as they passed through Gotham (including Solomon Burke, Rufus Thomas, Mitch Ryder, Elvis Costello, Wayne Kramer, Dennis Coffey, David Johansen, Dr. John, Southside Johnny, Clarence Clemmons, Buster Brown, Iggy Pop, Dennis Coffey, and many others). Music industry luminaries like famed songwriter Doc Pomus and producer Jerry Wexler regularly stopped by to enjoy the party, which often lasted past 3am.

The Party Leads to Gigs and Recording Sessions

The Uptown Horns emerged from this period with their first significant gigs and sessions as a section, including an acclaimed live album with Solomon Burke (“Soul Alive”), and tours/recording with the ascendant J. Geils Band (“Freezeframe” tours, “Showtime” LP).

The Uptowns Horns went on to tour/record with a wide variety of top-tier artists, including The Rolling Stones (“Steel Wheels”), Peter Wolf (“Sleepless”, “Midnight Souvenirs”, “Fool’s Parade” LPs), James Brown (“Living in America”, “Gravity” LP), Joe Cocker (“Unchain My Heart”), Buster Poindexter (“Hot Hot Hot”, etc.), James Montgomery Band (“From Detroit To The Delta” LP), B-52s (“Love Shack”), Tom Waits (“Rain Dogs”), Bronski Beat (“Age of Consent” LP), Iggy Pop (“Party” LP), The Communards, Cameo (“Word Up”), Joan Jett (“I Hate Myself For Loving You”, etc.), Ohio Players (“Live” lp), Albert Collins (“Cold Snap”, “Iceman” LPs), Robert Plant & The Honeydrippers, Robert Palmer, and more. Today, The Uptown Horns abide, recording and performing live in 2022 with super groups like The Hollywood All-Stars and The American Vinyl All-Star Band (featuring Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter).

The Uptown Horns Revue Album

Steeped in the best American and British soul, R&B and pop music. the horn section wrote, arranged and produced an album. It is titled The Uptown Horns Revue and offers listeners special guests including Keith Richards, Peter Wolf, and the late great Albert Collins.

They have two series of their own Channel 4 TV show, an iTunes-chart-topping podcast and now they’re tuning up their instruments once more to tour the country: it’s the Horne Section’s Hit Show!

“Britain’s Funniest Band” (The Guardian) have made appearances on The Last Leg (Channel 4), Peter Crouch’s Year- Late Euros (BBC One), they are Dictionary Corner regulars on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and the only band to ever host Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Separately, members of The Horne Section have performed with recording artists including Robbie Williams, Madness, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse, George Ezra, Basement Jaxx, Disclosure and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Unruly, ridiculous, and surprisingly satisfying, the six-headed comedy band includes five outstanding musicians and one non-musical stand-up. There’ll be comedy, songs, enthusiastic dancing, and a lot of mucking about. A brand-new show from the hugely talented band and Alex Horne, the creator and co-host of the BAFTA and National Comedy Award winning Taskmaster.
