I'm so into the idea of seeing Ariana Grande do an Eternal Sunshine tour this year, I can barely breathe...but is it happening?

Last time Ariana Grande released an album, it was the pandemic and she told Zach Sang that she had no interest in touring Positions until it was safe to do so. She said that she didn't want to put her fans in any danger. Ariana also teased that she liked touring Sweetener and Thank U, Next together and likely wouldn't do another tour until she had another album out.

Fast forward to 2024 and the Eternal Sunshine era is officially in full swing. Is Ariana Grande going on tour this year though? If she is, what are the tour dates, locations, ticket prices and presale codes? Here's what Ariana has said about it so far.

When is Ariana Grande going on tour?

Will there be an Eternal Sunshine tour?

Talking to Zach Sang about a potential Eternal Sunshine tour in February 2024, Ariana said: "I would love to do shows. I love being on stage. I miss being on stage. I miss my fans so much. That's the honest to god truth."

However, Ariana then admitted that she struggled with touring in 2019. She said: "I had a really hard time emotionally on my last tour but I think that's because of where I was at. Just like with music, I'm really excited to redefine my relationship to shows when I'm ready and to see what that looks like."

As for if there's time in 2024, Ariana added: "I do have a very busy year with this [album] and with Wicked , and then next year I also have Wicked Part Two . I'm interested to see what that would look like. It would obviously be shorter if it were anything it would be a littler something."

Ariana ended by saying: "I definitely do have the itch. But then again, I’m not ready to announce any sort of thing, or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint."

With this in mind, it appears that no tour is currently set in stone. However, Ariana may still do a small run of shows so bookmark this page for updates.

Ariana Grande tour presale codes: How to find a presale code for your country

As it stands, Ariana has said nothing official about a tour so far. A couple of fan tweets have gone viral suggesting that there is a tour presale access code in her website coding but these all appear to be fake with fans simply using it as a way to encourage people to preorder Ariana's album. Nevertheless, if a tour happens, there will likely be a presale.

If Ariana follows in the footsteps of artists like Beyoncé , Taylor Swift and Harry Styles , she will probably have a Citi Verified Fan Presale in the US and an O2 Priority Presale in the UK. There may also be separate Live Nation and fan presales.

If Ariana does announce a tour, it would be wise to sign up to her mailing list to get any presale information as soon as it becomes available.

Ariana Grande tour ticket prices: How much will the tickets be?

Prices for an Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour will likely depend on what kind of venues she performs in. Tickets for her last arena tour cost between $35 and $225. Based on her telling Zach Sang, she'd like to do something smaller, there's a chance that venues will be smaller and tickets will be more expensive.

Eternal Sunshine Tour dates: When is Ariana Grande going on tour in 2024?

Again, there's no news yet on whether Ariana is touring this year so no dates are currently available. If she does tour in any capacity it will have to take place before official promotion for Wicked starts. Wicked comes out in cinemas worldwide on November 27th. Taking this into consideration, any tour would likely wrap before November.

Ariana Grande tour locations: What cities will Ariana Grande play in?

While I think we would all like an Eternal Sunshine world tour, Ariana's Zach comments suggest that whatever she does for Eternal Sunshine will be on a much smaller scale than Sweetener.

With this in mind, it's unlikely that there will be shows outside of the US but she could have a livestream or filmed show planned.

Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Without any tour announcements, there's no knowing what songs Ariana Grande would perform on an Eternal Sunshine tour at the moment. Nevertheless, Ariana tends to heavily feature her recent projects in live shows, so expect lots of songs from Eternal Sunshine and Positions to feature alongside her biggest hits.

If Ariana does one-off Eternal Sunshine shows, it's also possible that she will opt to perform the album in full instead of a more traditional setlist.

Could Beyonce and Ariana Grande really be gearing up for a collaboration? Both artists have certainly had their hands full lately. Ariana has been very busy with her return to acting. The pop star is currently filming her part in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Wicked . She has not released any of her own new music for several years, but fans were treated to a collab with The Weeknd back in February. The singer hopped onto Abel's hit song "Die For You." While Ariana may not be planning to drop her own new album anytime soon, it looks like another collab is in the making.

Beyonce has been quite busy herself. She recently embarked on her "Renaissance" Tour, and she's been making headlines practically every day since. On opening night, fans went absolutely wild. One of them even got arrested for trying to sneak into a VIP area. If there is one fanbase you can count on to be over the top, it's the Beyhive. The fans' antics aren't the only thing the tour is making headlines for, however. Almost every single tour date thus far has been a veritable who's who of celebrities. In a video posted by a fan, the pop star can be seen at one of the London stops for the "Renaissance" Tour. Of course, this only lends more credence to the rumors of a collaboration.

Beyonce fans know at this point that they should expect the unexpected. Since the artist released her latest album last year, fans have been eagerly anticipating visual content. Visuals have always played a significant role in any album released by the legendary artist. It's no wonder that the primary question on fans' minds has been, "Where are the visuals?" Interestingly, Beyoncé provided a clever response to this question during a segment of her performance. In the introduction to "Formation," a narrator's voice-over is accompanied by the words displayed on large screens. The disembodied voice humorously states, "I know you hear me. You've asked for the visuals. You've called for the queen, but a queen moves at her own pace, b*tch."

However, it appears that Beyonce still has some surprises in store for her fans after all. Recently, she unexpectedly released a remix of "America Has A Problem ," offering an exciting addition to her repertoire. The remix featured Kendrick Lamar , who previously collaborated with Beyonce on her Lemonade album. Given the release, it's no surprise that people are speculating on further remix releases. Then, on December 17, Grande teased the album once again, posting a video with no audio of her singing in the studio.

All of the rumors turned out to be true when, on Jan. 7, 2024, Grande announced her single “yes, and?” The song dropped a few days later on January 12 and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 .

Grande also released a music video for “yes, and?” that same day. She was inspired by Paula Abdul—specifically her 1988 music video for “Cold Hearted.”

One week later, Grande officially announced her upcoming seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. This is her first album since Positions in 2020, so fans have been anxiously awaiting new music from the Wicked star.

With the album’s release finally here, ahead is everything you need to know about Eternal Sunshine.

When does Eternal Sunshine come out?

On January 17, Grande officially announced the title and release date of her newest album: Eternal Sunshine comes out on March 8, 2024.

“I think this one may be your favorite. It is mine,” Grande posted to her Instagram Story on February 1.

Grande is keeping the songs from this album under wraps until its official release.

On February 5, she posted to her Instagram story, “my loves ♡ we are a little over a month away from Eternal Sunshine and I don’t think it’s possible to articulate how grateful I am for your love, support and excitement! I wanted to say... as hard as it is to resist the urge to share another song or single with you all asap, I would really love for you to experience the album in full this time. There will of course be more singles off of this project once it is out (and we may have a little surprise or two up our sleeves to hold you over until then so don't you worry) but waiting a little longer for you to be able to listen fully through first really is my ideal way for you all to experience this body of work.”

“Thank you for your trust in my vision and plan! You ave waited so long for new music from me and I am so grateful for your patience! I look forward to savoring every second of this new era with you all and I sincerely cannot wait for it to be yours! It’s going to be (and already is) so special. I am so excited for all that is to come. More than ever. Love you so so so,” she finished.

Has the Eternal Sunshine album cover come out yet?

When announcing the album’s release date, Grande also unveiled its cover, which is the same one she used for “yes, and?” It features a blurry close-up of Grande with red lipstick on.

However, Grande also revealed that there would be seven different cover variations.

“Album cover 5 of 7 tomorrow ♡,” she posted on her Instagram Story on January 26.

On February 7, Grande released the sixth album cover, which is now available for preorder.

How many songs are on Eternal Sunshine?

There will be 13 songs on Grande’s seventh studio album. According to her website , track 1 is titled “intro (end of the world),” track 5 is “eternal sunshine,” and track 9 is “yes, and?”

On February 7, Grande revealed some more song titles on her Instagram. Track 2 is called “bye,” track 6 is “supernatural,” and track 10 is “we can’t be friends (wait for your love).”

On February 17, she revealed three more: track 3, called “don’t want to break up again,” track 7, “true story,” and track 11, “i wish i hated you.”

There were also more covers, which she announced in the caption were all available to preorder.

And finally on February 27, Grande shared the titles of the last four songs: track 4 is called “Saturn Returns Interlude,” track 8 is “the boy is mine,” track 12 is “imperfect for you,” and track 13 is “ordinary things (feat. nonna).”

She also appeared to hide some song lyrics in the post. They include: “I’ll hold your hurt in a box here beside me,” “If the sun refused to shine, baby, would I still be your lover,” “How I just can’t go where you don’t go,” “Deep breaths, tight chest, life, death, rewind,” and “How could we know we’d make the bad stuff delightful?”

What can we expect from Eternal Sunshine?

On February 1, Grande posted an Instagram Reel from when she first played some of the songs from the album for her family and team.

“I wanted to share with you this, it’s kinda a concept album because it’s all different heightened pieces of the same story, of the same experience,” she said in the video.

“Some are really vulnerable. Some of them are, like, playing the part that people kind of expect me to be sometimes and having fun with that,” she continued. “And the rest of it is also just kinda really vulnerable.”

Will Grande be putting out any music videos for Eternal Sunshine?

On January 12, the same day as the single’s release, Grande put out a music video for “yes, and?”

Then, on Friday, March 1, exactly one week before Eternal Sunshine, Grande posted an Instagram Reel announcing what appears to be a music video for her upcoming song “we can’t be friends (wait for your love).”

It is inspired by the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, which we can assume the album as a whole takes inspiration from. The movie is about a couple, Joel and Clementine, who break up and decide to undergo medical treatments to permanently erase each other from their memories.

In the clip, Grande is sitting in a waiting room reading a consent form that says, “You have given extensive thought behind your decision and give ‘Brighter Days Inc.’ the exclusive permission to remove this person completely from your memory.” She looks unsure, and her pen lingers over the “No” check box for a moment before she changes her mind and checks “Yes,” signing the name “Peaches” with a heart on the signature line.

A nurse then calls her in for her appointment, and the video ends with, “‘we can’t be friends anymore’ (coming soon).”

“⋆｡˚⋆ฺ we can’t be friends ⋆｡˚⋆ฺ ☼,” Grande wrote in the caption. “one week til eternal sunshine .”

Grande already previously revealed that she wouldn’t be releasing any more songs from her new album after “yes, and?,” so sadly we’ll have still have to wait until March 8 to hear “we can’t be friends.” However, it is unclear if Grande will be dropping the music video the same day, or if that’ll come at a later date.

Will Grande be going on tour?

According to some genius TikTok sleuths , the coding on Grande’s website was updated to eventually include a “tour dates” section, so we can hopefully expect to see her perform Eternal Sunshine live soon.

But, we don’t suggest getting your hopes up just yet. Grande made a very rare podcast appearance on the Zach Sang Show on February 26, her first interview in quite a while, where she admitted that she’s unsure if she’ll go on tour.

Ariana Grande has been busy. The pop star’s new album, Eternal Sunshine , is set to drop in March, and the first installment of the musical Wicked , in which Grande plays Glinda, hits theaters in November.

But in a new interview with Zach Sang that dropped on YouTube on Monday evening, the pop star also seemingly alluded to the gossip that’s tracked her amidst both her divorce from ex-husband Dalton Gomez, which was first revealed last September , and new romance with Wicked costar Ethan Slater, which has come with a firestorm of controversy .

“I feel like you’re talking to people who feel like they know you, but don’t,” Sang told Grande. “There is a sense of misunderstanding. People have crafted their own narratives.”

“The thing is that like, we know this about the tabloids and the media,” Grande said. “Like, am I crazy? Don’t we know this?”

“Yeah but nobody cares, for the sake of a good story,” Sang said.

“Right, but that’s what I’m saying,” Grande replied. “We selectively remember that this is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person. We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance.”

“But again, I don’t say this for them,” Grande said. “I’m saying this for my fans, for myself.”

Last summer, shortly after the news first broke that Grande had split (but not yet divorced) from Gomez, reports came that she was dating Slater, who himself had reportedly separated from his wife. Slater also has a young son with his ex, who at the time was less than a year old.

Lilly Jay, Slater’s ex, told Page Six contemporaneously that Grande, who reportedly spent time with Jay and Slater when they were together, is “not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage... the story is her and Dalton.”

“I am focused on rebuilding a life for our son and rebuilding a life for him,” Jay also told The Daily Mail . “This is what I am trying to do and this is my only focus.”

“Is there anything you wish people knew?” Sang asked Grande this week. “About what?” Grande replied. “Any of it, all of it, you,” Sang said.

“Plenty,” Grande said, setting down the glass she’d just sipped from and joking that there wasn’t “enough time” to get into everything. “Of course, there is an insatiable frustration, inexplicable, hellish feeling in watching people misunderstand the people you love—and you,” she added.

Ariana Grande in 'So Much Pain' and 'Very Sick' as She Gives Update on Her Health Amid Tour

"I just really don't know what's happening with my body right now and need to figure it out," Ariana Grande shared

Ariana Grande is opening up about her health struggles during her time on tour.

The 26-year-old artist, who is currently performing on her Sweetener World Tour, shared several candid posts on her Instagram Stories Saturday, letting her viewers know that she has been feeling sick for “over three weeks at this point” and may possibly have to cancel upcoming shows.

“Hi my loves so I’m still very sick. I’ve been sick since the last London show. I don’t know how it’s possible but my throat and head are still in so much pain. I sound okay I’m just in a lot of pain and it’s difficult to breathe during the show,” she wrote in a lengthy message. “I just really don’t know what’s happening with my body right now and need to figure it out.”

Grande also shared multiple videos of herself explaining her current condition.

“Hi everyone so I have a quick health update, I just finished my show in Charlottesville and I’ve been sick since the last show in London,” she began. “I’ve been coughing and had this like crazy sinus infection thing that has not gone away for a really long time. I haven’t been able to really get better and tonight during the show tonight my head was really splitting and heavy and my glands really hurt and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on.”

The “7 rings” singer said she will be visiting a doctor to try and learn more about her current condition.

“I’m scared that I might have to cancel some things, so this is kind just a heads up of like I don’t know what’s happening with my body, and I’m really disappointed and freaked out of why I can’t get better because it’s been over three weeks at this point,” Grande added.

The artist went on in another clip that all “bulls—t health stuff aside,” she wanted to share how “grateful [she is] from these shows and how special this has been and how much [she’s] looking forward to the rest of it.”

“I’m going to cherish these memories with you guys because they’re really beautiful and that’s why I’m really mad I can’t get better because I really don’t want to cancel anything because I’m really cherishing all these last moments together,” she said, before ending the video with ” I love you.”

Grande’s next show is scheduled for Sunday in Lexington, Kentucky.

Ariana Grande hits back at cheating rumours in new song

Amidst all the great new telly gracing our screens less than two weeks into the New Year, we've also got a whole load of music from all our favourite artists to soundtrack our 2024.

One of the latest releases, which is set to drop in the UK later today (12 January), is Ariana Grande's new house-inspired track which will excitingly mark her first solo musical release since her album 'Positions', back in 2020.

In the new song, however, the 30-year-old hit-maker hit back at cheating rumours following her split from ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, and her rumoured new relationship with Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater.

In the three years since Ariana's taken a momentary step back from music, she's has been working on bringing a film adaptation of the musical Wicked , in which she plays a witch named Glinda, to life.

However, the wait is finally over and fans can, at long-last, hear the 'Bang Bang' singer's incredible vocals once again.

Now, there's been quite the speculation online about Ariana's personal life , namely over the fact that news over her and Ethan's new coupling came of light just days after the news of her divorce, sparking ideas that there may have been some overlap between her two partners.

Such rumours surrounding their romance prompted one of her close family friends to tell People: "People have tried to question the timeline."

The source also claimed: "Ariana and Ethan didn’t begin seeing each other until after both parties were separated, respectfully."

Ariana seems to be well aware of the rumour mill as, in the lyrics to her new track 'Yes, And?' she doesn't seem in the slightest bit fazed.

"I’m so done with caring, what you think," she sings on the song's second verse, before adding: "No I won’t hide underneath your own projections or change my most authentic life."

Elsewhere in the track, which will be released as a single today ahead of an upcoming album, Ariana gets a little more specific.

She says: "Don’t comment on my body, do not reply. Your business is yours and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose d*ck I ride?"

Ariana previously revealed 2023 was 'one of the most transformative, most challenging, and yet happiest and most special' of her life.

The Instagram message continued: "I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life. I have learned how much more important one of those things is than the other."

The music video for 'Yes, And?' will be released later today (12 January) at 3pm.

Update on Ariana Grande's Relationship With Ethan Slater

Ariana Grande is reportedly "genuinely so happy" with 'Wicked' co-star Ethan Slater.

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater's relationship is staying strong. The two Wicked co-stars were rumored to be dating last summer following Grande's divorce from Dalton Gomez . They caused some controversy, as Slater had filed for divorce from his estranged wife , Lilly Jay, not long after rumors swirled. In January, it was reported that Grande was "very serious" about Slater , and now there's a new update that further proves that sentiment.

A source told ET , "Ariana is genuinely so happy with Ethan. She feels very comfortable with him and is in love. Their relationship is serious, and their bond is organic. Ethan treats Ariana super well and knows her so well. It's not about external stuff with them. They just have a great time together and appreciate their time with each other."

The update comes after the two were seen at the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals in Florida and the two were all smiles with each other earlier this month. As if that wasn't enough, the singer's brother, Frankie Grande, praised Slater while speaking with TooFab , giving him his seal of approval. "I love him, he's a very sweet guy," Frankie said. "I've been a fan of him ever since seeing him in SpongeBob [the musical. And I got to interview him when I was doing the SpongeBob SquarePants podcast. And the Broadway community is a tight-knit family."

It's been speculated that some songs on Ariana Grande 's newest album, eternal sunshine , are about her relationship with Ethan Slater. Some songs are about her breakup with Dalton Gomez, but she seems to have wasted no time in finding someone else that clearly makes her happy and is her muse. Even with all of the negativity surrounding their relationship , they are not listening and are showing off their genuine love.

Assuming Grande and Slater are still together by the end of the year when Wicked comes out, it should be interesting to see how they are during the press tour. They have mostly kept their relationship out of the public eye aside from occasional public outings. Ariana Grande Claims The 'Home-wrecking' Rumors About Her Are All A Misunderstanding

She didn't seem to confirm or deny the rumors..

In July 2023, news of Ariana Grande and “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater’s relationship surfaced, quickly following her separation from Dalton Gomez . That same month, Slater filed for divorce from his wife and high school sweetheart, Lilly Jay.

The media did not take the news well, instantly pointing fingers at Grande for being a homewrecker .

In a recent interview, Grande addressed the ‘home-wrecking’ rumors, claiming they are frustrating and ‘hellish.’ 

Grande sat down with Zach Sang  to discuss the upcoming release of her new album, “Eternal Sunshine,” and her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the musical film, “Wicked,” set to come out in November 2024. Inevitably, the topic of her relationship with Slater came up.

Grande didn’t want to get into specifics of the rumors and discussed the problem with the media twisting the truth to form a narrative for the public’s entertainment instead. “Of course, there's, like, an insatiable frustration, inexplicable hellish feeling, with watching people misunderstand the people you love, and you, and anything,” Grande said.

She claimed tabloids are to blame for creating such a negative image of her, and that she's just been misunderstood.

“This is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person. We selectively remember that. We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance… for their friends and their family," Grande added.

Fans have taken to TikTok to discuss the interview, agreeing that the media has damaged Grande's image despite all of her positive attributes.

"She's reintroducing nuance to the conversation and I feel like I was the only one willing to give her some nuance," Patty Pop Culture stated on TikTok.

On the other hand, others have continued to dissect Grande's defense of her actions, when they don't appear to align with her words.

" The narcissism is off the charts. .. Your ego is the size of Texas," a TikToker who goes by loveverne  stated about Grande. "You made this about your existence, your human importance, you also victimized yourself after betraying another woman, and then made it about women — see we're not going to do that. You betrayed the sisterhood."

While the specifics of the rumors are unclear, based on everything we do know, people aren't exactly supportive of Grande and Slater's relationship.

Grande and Slater met in December 2022 onset for "Wicked." Slater plays the character, Boq, who has a crush on Grande's character, Glinda (oh, the irony). 

The two appeared to become very close during filming , despite both being married, and Grande even hung out with Slater and his ex in the weeks leading up to news of their controversial relationship.

Jay briefly  addressed her split from Slater  to Page Six, expressing how her family was in “collateral damage” and claiming Grande is “ not a girl’s girl .”

Jay has every right to be upset, having lost her husband and the father to their 1-year-old baby to the pop star, whose notorious behavior seemed to be foreshadowed by her controversial choice of song lyrics. 

Despite anonymous sources revealing that Grande and Slater were both single when they began dating, due to the timeline of their relationship following their previous marriages, it seems there was a spark of romance early on.

This is not the first time Grande has been accused of breaking girl code. According to Oh Torch , Rikki Valentina reported a similar situation with Grande showing interest in a taken man back in 2009, and she allegedly showed no remorse for the flawed series of events.

While Grande is not solely responsible for this alleged affair with Slater, and Slater is equally, if not more, responsible for his unfaithful actions, Grande is surely aware that she could take any man away from their partner in a heartbeat. This repetitive behavior implies she is not a victim after all.

Rather than taking accountability or denying the rumors, Grande explained her discomfort with the media’s distasteful coverage of topics designed to stir controversy and public discourse.

Grande seemed to be very cautious with her choice of words during the interview, avoiding any argumentative terms, and instead painting herself as the victim of poor media coverage.

Despite Grande’s frustration surrounding the tabloids and their false narratives, it’s no surprise that the media is slamming her image when she is notoriously known for singing about home-wrecking, and people are not convinced she is innocent due to the way her song lyrics seem to address to the ongoing gossip.

When Grande released the song “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” in 2019, the media was charged by the controversial choice of topics to sing about. Nonetheless, if Grande knows how to do one thing, it’s feed the media with a narrative they want to believe. And despite the controversy, the song was successful, hitting Billboard's top 10 music chart the same year.

Grande also alluded to all of the gossip surrounding her life in her recently released song, “Yes, and?” specifically with the line, “Your business is yours and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose — I ride?”

And as she leaked the tracklist of her "Eternal Sunshine" album in a recent Instagram post , many have taken notice of one song in particular, "The Boy Is Mine," which seemed to touch on the drama surrounding her relationship with Slater.

There is no proof that Grande was a homewrecker, but not everyone is convinced she is innocent.

A seemingly fabricated post on X claiming Page Six has backtracked the rumors has been spreading online, although there is no confirmation that Page Six actually changed their stance on the matter other than a post made by an Ariana Grande fan account.  

The post on X, which was made by Ariana World HQ , claimed Page Six stated there is no hard evidence of Grande being a homewrecker in Slater and Jay’s relationship.

While this is true, the timing of her relationship is still a bit off, and it doesn't seem to matter to Grande that she easily stole the heart of a taken man and recent father.

An insider told People  that Grande and Slater are still dating, having reportedly moved in together in October 2023, claiming their relationship is much more different than what the media has led the public to believe. 

Despite the drama surrounding these rumors, Grande has handled it all with grace and seems to be taking advantage of the headlines to promote the release of her album, which will likely add details and perspective to the situation.

Sadly, the home-wrecker narrative has overshadowed Grande's positive contributions to society.

Outside the controversial rumors, that have followed Grande throughout her career, she has advocated for feminism and spread love through other songs, like "No Tears Left To Cry." She also continues to donate and advocate for charitable organizations focused on animal rights, mental health, and the LGBTQ+ community.

While Grande never outwardly addressed the relationship drama, she did drive the point home that regardless of who she's dating and how they got together, it's really nobody's business to pass judgment.

Suffice it to say, no matter how the public continues to react, Grande's talent is undeniable and her music is wildly successful. And maybe feeding into and profiting off of the gossip through her music and movies is the best way to combat the critics.

Ariana Grande has a plan for her estranged husband, Dalton Gomez's birthday. Gomez turned 28 today (August 7) and a source revealed to US Weekly that the “7 Rings” singer will be reaching out.

“Ariana plans on reaching out to Dalton to wish him a happy birthday, but she has no plans on celebrating with him,” the insider said.

“Ariana has no hard feelings about their split, but she’s trying to focus on moving forward and doesn’t want to bring up old feelings. She wishes him nothing but the best and hopes he has a wonderful birthday,” the insider added.

It was announced last month that Grande and Gomez have split after two years of marriage .

“Ariana and Dalton have been having some issues for months now,” a source explained to the outlet last month. “They were having issues before she left for Wicked filming [in London] that they couldn’t resolve, and the distance did not help. They haven’t been speaking and are separated, and a divorce is likely.”

According to PEOPLE, distance reportedly played a role in the end of their relationship while Ariana Grande was filming Wicked in the U.K.

“She was happy in Los Angeles for a couple of years. She wanted to make a life there with Dalton,” the source tells PEOPLE exclusively on Monday.

“They’ve been really good friends throughout the entire process, and their friends and families have been trying to protect them,” the source added.

Ariana Grande is now dating her “Wicked” costar Ethan Slater who just filed for divorce from his wife Lily Jay. Slater and Jay were high school sweethearts and got married in 2018. They welcomed their son in August 2022.

From the infamous East Coast/West Coast war–led by rap legends Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.–to 50 Cent and Ja Rule’s long-running rivalry, artist conflict grew highly popularized in the twentieth century. In 1994, a charming, 15-year-old “girl next door” named Brandy Norwood released her self-titled debut album. With chart-topping singles like “I Wanna Be Down,” “Baby,” and “Best Friend,” Brandy quickly solidified her spot at the top of the music industry. A year later, in 1995, a soul-sounding, sassy-mouthed Monica hit the scene with her debut project, Miss Thang . The full-length flaunted her classics “Don’t Take It Personal,” “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” and “Why I Love You So Much,” which majorly catapulted Monica’s career as well.

With Brandy and Monica’s solo runs equally making noise globally, it wasn’t long before the two powerhouses joined forces for their uber-successful bop “The Boy Is Mine,” a timeless tune that ultimately went down in melodic history. However, the release of the head-to-head anthem sparked a wave of media-infused friction, resulting in the then-young women buying into the fan-fueled competition.

Brandy and super producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins had already written and mixed “The Boy Is Mine” before they tapped Monica for the collaboration.

During a 2019 interview with drag icon RuPaul, Monica stated that she and Brandy had never met when recording the best-selling track. However, a rare clip of Monica presenting Brandy with the ‘Lady of Soul Award’ at the 1995 Soul Train Award contradicts that. Well, unless the song was recorded way before its release in 1998.

In another 2019 interview, Dallas Austin, Monica’s producer/discoverer, said she was reluctant about working with Brandy due to their vastly different personalities. Austin alleged that Monica felt Brandy was “too proper” for her liking.

“[There was] a heavyweight beef. They got into a fight. [laughs]” Austin told VladTV. “Monica never liked Brandy, and Brandy never [liked Monica]. Monica is very ghetto. [laughs] When it came down to it, she was like, ‘[Brandy’s] too proper… and she’s too this.’ And I think Brandy might’ve looked at her a certain way a couple of times.”

“The Boy Is Mine” emulates two women arguing over a man they’re in a love triangle with. According to Brandy’s engineer, Jerkins, with the song’s breakout and contentious storyline came strife behind the scenes.

In that same 2020 interview with VladTV, Jerkins also said he originally recorded Monica’s vocals but that she felt that they were “too clean” and opted for Austin to then re-do them from Atlanta instead.

Apparently, tension arose during “The Boy Is Mine” video filming, too. Monica once told VIBE Magazine that Brandy put her finger in Monica’s face while acting out one of the scenes, which she found disrespectful.

“There was a part of the video where we were saying, ‘Not yours… but mine.’ [Brandy] was ad-libbing around the situation and at one point, she put her hand to my face… playing,” she recalled to the publication. “It upset me. That’s the kind of stuff that becomes personal with me–not because it was Brandy. That goes for anybody.”

When speaking with VladTV in 2019, Monica’s mentor, Austin, confirmed that they didn’t have much to say to each other on set when the camera wasn’t rolling.

Later That Year – Monica Reportedly Punches Brandy

There had been rumors that Monica punched Brandy before their performance at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards. In 2012, the singers confirmed that things had gotten physical but Monica later apologized. Austin co-signed it in his sit-down with Vlad .

“Before they could even get to the stage, Monica decked [Brandy] in the face. [laughs] [She] popped her in the face… backstage. And I’m like, ‘Oh, my God!’ he recounted. “This was even before the performance. So, everybody was trying to [figure out], ‘How we’re going to have a performance that looks like they’re not, you know, at war with each other?’ But it worked out ’cause [in] the song, you’re supposed to be at war with each other, so nobody could really tell that she had punched her in the face before the performance.”

The Ladies Celebrate Their Grammy Win

In 1999, Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” won a Grammy for ‘Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.’

MTV News spoke to them about their sentiments surrounding the accomplishment. Brandy told the host, “[Monica] and I were next to each other. We came together. I got up and ran on the stage. Like… I couldn’t believe it! I mean, that is the way to accept a Grammy because the Grammy is the most important award to me!”

Monica added, “I really feel respected now, though… as far as music is concerned. This is only our sophomore project, so it is a really big deal for us to be here… and not only be nominated but to win.”

Brandy and Monica Reunite for New Song

In 2012, the duo came back together for the acclaimed “It All Belongs to Me,” an emotionally-driven ballad far different from their “The Boy Is Mine” days. When promoting their reunion, they touched on turning over a new leaf.

According to Brandy, “As teenagers, we were very competitive. You know? And we didn’t remember what it was like to be together… or we didn’t even know what it was like to be together.” She added, “Being together now, in this day and time–and us being older and wiser and better communicators–it’s just a different thing now. And it feels better.”

The ladies were supposedly gearing up to go on tour, but it never happened due to scheduling.

2015 – 2016

Things take a shady turn.

In a 2015 write-up on Entertainment Tonight, Brandy admitted that she and Monica weren’t speaking when asked if she agreed with Monica stating that their alleged beef during “The Boy Is Mine” was “brilliant marketing.” The following year, in an interview with MadameNoire, Monica assured that she didn’t have any ill feelings toward Brandy.

However, when an online fan asked Brandy to join the popular #SoGoneChallenge for Monica’s 2003 hit, Brandy replied “Chile, bye.” Her response spawned various theories on where the two’s relationship stood. Monica addressed it on an episode of talk show The Real , where she said she “wasn’t bothered” and was basically in a new space.

Reportedly, things got even shadier when Brandy hinted on her Instagram that Monica copied her style when doing a tribute to Missy Elliott at the Hip Hop Honors . Another instance was when Monica claimed the late Whitney Houston as her ‘Fairy Godmother’ and Brandy took to Instagram to boast that “everyone wanted” the bond she shared with the legend. If you didn’t know, Houston was Brandy’s role model and longtime friend. The “I Will Always Love You” phenomenon even dated Brandy’s brother, Ray J, in the 2010s.

Brandy and Monica Link for Verzuz

Verzuz was a live web show presented by producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where artists would play song for song and let the audience decide which had the better hits.

Brandy and Monica’s episode was (of course) the most-watched, and due to the odd energy and previous antics, viewers formed their own narratives. Although the broadcast was one of Verzuz’s best, to date, fans still suspected that the singers weren’t exactly “friends.”

From the Verzuz came a plethora of memes , musings, and more. In a 2024 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show , Monica recalled being apprehensive about doing the face-off because she didn’t want to rehash the comparison topics.

All in all, the greats seemed in good spirits when exclusive footage surfaced after the showdown, leaving fans hopeful to see what was next.

Brandy and Monica’s Friendship Timeline Continues in 2024

Earlier this year, Ray J popped into Monica’s Instagram Live and mentioned the idea of her and his sister, Brandy, going on a tour that could (possibly) bring in $100 million. Not too long after, he visited The Breakfast Club  and further encouraged the potential occurrence.  He also suggested that Monica open up for Brandy.

Monica didn’t take too kindly to it and blasted him on her Instagram, seemingly accusing Ray of egging it on and giving fans false hope.

“I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour! [Ray J] I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking on me in public! A private conversation would be both necessary and respectful!” she wrote on her Story. “Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one of one with an extensive catalog that I deeply respect & a voice sent from heaven! The conversation being had without she & I is beginning to muddy the waters severely!”

They Finally Come Together Again, Thanks to Ariana Grande

This month, Ariana Grande grabbed Monica and Brandy for an official “The Boy Is Mine” remix.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight , Monica said her and Brandy’s second reunion was “divine timing” and owed it to Grande.

“We’e learned over the twenty-five years. We recognized that the key was to keep other people out of our relationship–both business and personal–and let it be between she and I. And that has changed everything. It’s changed the trajectory of it… in its totality,” she offered. “My son was in the hospital the other day, and she was who I speaking to while he was there. That is what Ariana has done, and she may not even realize. It gave [Brandy and I] the opportunity to talk as women.”

Ariana Grande releases 'the boy is mine' remix with Brandy and Monica

"the boy is mine" is from Grande's recent album, "eternal sunshine."

Ariana Grande's "the boy is mine" remix with Brandy and Monica has arrived.

The new remix , which was released Friday and is inspired by Brandy and Monica's original version, features the two R &B singers, whose 1998 Grammy Award-winning song of the same name centered on two women fighting over the love of a man.

In the remix, the trio sing the pre-chorus and chorus of Grande's upbeat song together, which includes the lyrics, "Something about him is made for somebody like me / Baby come over, come over / And god knows I'm trying / But there's just no use in denying / The boy is mine"

"I know / But listen what they say to me / 'If it ain't broke then it can't be broken,'" the lyrics continue. "Well, he better sort out his business, 'cause I'll never be nobody's mistress / But I can't ignore my heart, boy."

In an interview with ET , Monica shared how she once said that "the song should not be touched" and that she "felt that it did not need to be redone in the idea of, let's say, actually doing it the exact way that it was."

But after hearing Grande's version with producer Max Martin, Monica said, "I fell in love with it."

"The process of the new collaboration did a lot of closing the gaps," she added.

The remix comes more than 25 years after Brandy and Monica recorded their version of the hit song in 1997 and two weeks after Grande released the music video for her version featuring Brandy, Monica and actor Penn Badgley.

On Instagram, Brandy and Monica shared the remix and wrote about their joy in collaborating with Grande.

"Love you @arianagrande," Brandy wrote in an Instagram caption . "Thank you for embracing us with so much warmth and kindness. Overjoyed to celebrate this moment with you and @monicadenise."

"This was both a pleasure and an honor," Monica wrote in the caption of her post . "@arianagrande We love you deep!! @brandy divine timing ♥️ 25."
