While in Paris you will have the choice between two activities. First, you can choose to visit the awe-inspiring Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the second highest point of the city after the Eiffel Tower, and enjoy free time to explore the area. Or, you can choose to Learn about the neighborhood’s famous artists and writers at the Musée de Montmartre, a historic 17th century house that gives you a glimpse into the artistic side of town
Prolong your stay in the French capital with a 2-night hosted post extension. Step back in time during a locally guided walking tour centered on the French Revolution, enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Paris as you please, indulge in the local cuisine during an included dinner at a local Brasserie and slide into the backseat of a vintage retro car to cruise along chic boulevards peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.
- Paris - Extension Begins
- This morning, step back in time during a walking tour centered on the French Revolution. Your expert guide evokes the shadows of Marie Antoinette and Robespierre as you journey back to the tumultuous years of 1789-1799. Visit landmarks such as Place de la Bastille (where the infamous prison once stood) and Place de la Concorde where the revolutionary government erected a guillotine in the square (and where King Louis XVI was executed on 21 January 1793). The afternoon is yours to explore more of the French capital independently. Perhaps you’ll stroll through the Beaubourg neighborhood and take in the whimsical moving fountain of the Centre Pompidou for Contemporary Art. Dedicated to the former French President Georges Pompidou, this building represents the first major example of 'inside-out' architecture with its structural, mechanical and circulation systems exposed on the exterior of the building. Today this eclectic building synthetizes the blend of tradition and innovation that distinguishes Paris.
- The day is yours to explore more of the French capital on your own. Perhaps you’ll wander over to the Left Bank of the Seine River and plunge into the bohemian atmosphere of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood and the Latin Quarter. Or visit one of the city’s iconic museums, such as the highly acclaimed Musée D’Orsay. The former railroad station now houses some of the world’s best impressionist art. This evening, celebrate the end of your extended stay in Paris with dinner in a local brasserie* before sliding into the backseat of a vintage retro car, cruising through the chic boulevards and peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.
- Paris - Depart for Home
- Wish France adieu as you return home.
Live the Parisian life in style as you join your Tour Manager on a captivating excursion to the Opera District. Take advantage of an immersive experience with Parisian luxury and peruse famous name brand stores to embrace the glam of haute couture fashion. Pass by the stunning opera house of Palais Garnier before getting a glimpse into the history of perfume making at Fragonard Museum. Indulge your senses and scan the ancient artisan bottles, learning about the art of creating the perfect scent. A specialist will help you choose your own cologne, providing an irreplaceable souvenir from your Parisian getaway. Continue on to the famous Galeries Lafayette – a well-known French department store that features a mesmerizing stained glass dome. You might even be able to get a closer look at the dome on the glass skywalk, which reaches out directly below the center of the dome. Cap off the adventure with a trip to the rooftop to admire the city from above. With a drink in hand, marvel at the breathtaking views of the Opera House & Eiffel tower. Enjoy free time to explore the neighborhood and shop before heading back to the hotel by metro.
Join us for a spectacular evening in one of Paris’s most beloved institutions, the famous Paradis Latin. Situated in a building associated with Napoleon and rebuilt by Gustav Eiffel himself, the Paradis has been running here since 1889. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner with wine, then bring on the champagne and let the show commence!
Take a walk down to the Ile de la Cité to snap a picture of the façade of the awe-inspiring Notre Dame.

Everything about this tour was excellent. The planned trips, the optional trips, the airport transfers, the guides were all top notch. We packed a lot into a week yet, had enough free time. The specialist guides for certain excursions were topnotch. Bruno coordinated all the guides, driver, and venue hosts with efficiency. It was a trip of my dreams for my granddaughter and myself!

Montmartre, Sacre-Cœur and the Latin Quarter
Home of the Moulin Rouge, Montmartre is Paris' famous art district. Your guide will show you the best of the neighborhood this morning, and you'll learn the best spots to return to if you're planning a big night out in the city. In addition to the nightlife of the neighborhood, Montmartre was also the epicenter of the Belle Époque.
Once home to Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Modigliani, the neighborhood produced countless famous pieces of art between the 1870s and 1920s. You will pass the café where Van Gogh painted one his most scandalous works—he dared to paint a woman reading!
After visiting the Basilica of the Sacre-Coeur, you'll follow your guide to the Latin Quarter. Montmartre is the center of art, but the Latin Quarter is the center of literature. You will see the café and bookstore where Hemingway and Joyce spent their ex-pat lives in Paris. Then, you can take photos of the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral from the outside—sadly, the cathedral suffered a terrible fire in 2019 and is still being reconstructed.
Louvre Museum Tour
Skip past the famously long lines at the Louvre and see the museum's most influential works on a 90-minute tour of the Louvre. These works include the two of the most important Greek statues still standing: the Venus of Milo and The Winged Victory of Samothrace . These two famous statues are full of mystery and history, and you guide will bring them to life with stories of their meanings and origins.
You'll also see Eugene Delacroix's Liberty Leading the People. A symbol of French independence, strength and culture, it is the most politically important work at the Louvre. The painting is the most famous artistic depiction of the French Revolution and is often compared to the Washington Crossing the Delaware piece found in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Mystery Behind the Mona Lisa
Why is the Mona Lisa so famous? For starters, Mona Lisa’s expression has been often debated since its creation in the 16th century. Is she happy or sad or playful? Another intriguing thing about Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is that it's the highest insured work of art at a whopping $800 million.
Leonardo Da Vinci's masterpiece (called La Gioconda in Italian), portrays the wife of a Tuscan aristocrat named Francesco del Giacondo. Though she has been in the Louvre for over 200 years, the portrait became famous when it was stolen in 1911 in a global scandal. Now she is protected with bulletproof glass and personal body guards.
Finally, led by your professional guide, you'll head to the pièce de résistance of this Paris in a Day Tour. The guide will regale you with tales of the tower's construction, its significance to the City of Light, and the initial public reactions to this daring design. After saying goodbye to your guide, with your tickets in hand, you will have the opportunity to savor the magic of the Eiffel Tower.
Paris by Boat
With your tickets in hand, sit back and relax with beautiful views along the Seine. Paris river cruises are a great way to take in the ambiance of the city and get a taste of the luxury that Paris is known for. Cruise around the city and get a new perspective on the iconic landmarks, including the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame, and of course, the Eiffel Tower in all its glory.

Add These 15 Places in Paris to Your Olympics Itinerary
Nope, we didn’t even include the Eiffel Tower.
Sokol’s partner, the Parisian artist and poet Azzedine Saleck , points to what he describes as a “policed freedom” uniquely found in the French capital that’s “less messy” than London, he says, but “more chic” than Madrid. “The Parisian sense of ego makes you believe that you are never too loud or too rowdy,” he says. Here, in no particular order, are 15 places to see in Paris that should be on the top, middle, and bottom of your list. It is by no means exhaustive—but it’s more than enough to get you started.
Louvre Museum
Not exactly the deepest cut on the list, but this museum should be your first stop in Paris. Make sure to have a filling breakfast and get there early to help avoid lines. You enter through the I.M. Pei–designed pyramid and choose your own adventure from there. Don’t loiter in front of artworks too long if you want to avoid a drive-by pumpkin soup-ing by environmental activists. When you’re done ogling Mona, Venus, and the Astronomer, and if you somehow have energy for more, the Jeu de Paume and L'Orangerie museums are a straight shot across the Tuileries Garden.
Wait! That’s not a picture of the Eiffel Tower shot from the esplanade of the Palais de Chaillot! No, but you’ve seen that a million times, so instead, we recommend a detour on the way to taking your version of the most frequently photographed view in Paris. Pass by the nearby 25 Rue Franklin, a masterpiece of early 20th century modernism built in 1903 and designed by the master architect Auguste Perret when he was only 29. For the budding archi-curious traveler, it’s one of the earliest apartment buildings to be made from—and flaunt the aesthetic of—reinforced concrete. This innovation was hugely influential on later Modernists including his former draftsman Le Corbusier.
Mémorial de la Shoah
Of the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust, 76,000 were deported from France (approximately 2,500 survived). This memorial in Le Marais designed by Georges-Henri Pingusson in 2005 is a poignant tribute to all the victims. Through exhibits, personal testimonies, and archival documents, you can gain a deeper understanding of the atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II. The memorial also serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against discrimination and hatred.
Though it’s not as awesome as the Pantheon in Rome, this Paris icon of the same name still has a lot going for it. Located in the 5th arrondissement, the 18th-century Jacques-Germain Soufflot–designed is a lightning bolt of domed neoclassical grandeur.
Père Lachaise Cemetery
As far as cemeteries go, Père Lachaise sure is pretty. It is by far the most famous in the world, both for its picturesque beauty and historical significance. Dating back to 1804, it is the final resting place of Oscar Wilde, Honoré de Balzac, Colette, and Edith Piaf. The grave of Jim Morrison, the singer of the Doors, is a pilgrimage destination for the rock-n-roll reverent as well as leather-pants enthusiasts. The protective barrier around it makes pouring one out on his tombstone impossible, but for those who can’t break on through to the other side, don’t despair: There’s a nearby tree covered in chewed gum in his honor. Feel free to leave an offering.
Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection
Come for the minimalist architectural intervention of an 18th-century building originally constructed as a grain exchange, stay for the private art collection of a French billionaire. François Pinault, the CEO of Kering, hired the Japanese Pritzker-Prize-winning architect and former professional boxer Tadao Ando to transform the historic space into a private museum to house contemporary pieces by the likes of Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, and Damien Hirst. Of note is the central concrete cylinder Ando created to contrast with the classical decor.
Four Seasons Hôtel George V
Arguably the best hotel in Paris, the George V in the 8th opened in 1928, at the height of the Art Deco movement, and was the brainchild of Joel Hillman, the American businessman. Now a part of the Four Seasons collection, the hotel has always been a magnet for celebrities from Greta Garbo to Elizabeth Taylor and was while staying there that the Beatles wrote their hit song “I Feel Fine.” Many rooms have unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower, the spa is immaculate, and the restaurants downstairs all have Michelin stars. Book a table at L'Orangerie if you can.
Arc de Triomphe
French national pride and military triumphs (save the jokes, please!) are what this massive structure celebrates. So if you like a soupçon of jingoism with your joue de boeuf, this arch at the western end of the Champs-Elysées, with its intricate reliefs and sculptures, is an obvious box to check.
Grand Mosque
This beautiful Muslim house of worship is located in the 5th arrondissement features intricate tilework, ornate calligraphy, and lush gardens—a design-lover’s delight. So much is to be said of the Grand Mosque and the people whose lives it has affected since it opened its doors in 1926. It was originally built as a gesture of gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of Muslim soldiers—many of whom emigrated from Algeria—who fought for France during the First World War. Decades later, the mosque played a crucial role in protecting Jews by providing them with forged Muslim identification documents, which helped them avoid Nazi persecution. The mosque's rector, Si Kaddour Benghabrit, also hid Jewish families inside and facilitated their escape to safer areas.
L’As du Fallafel
If you find yourself famished while flaneur -ing around Le Marais, pay a visit to the "Ace" in the Jewish Quarter for its world-renowned falafel sandwich served through the service window on Rue des Rosiers. It might be the best meal you have during your stay in Paris.
Villa Savoye
Before he obsessed over raw concrete and the Modulor, Le Corbusier co-founded the Purism movement, and the Villa Savoye is the mission statement in its, well, purest form. The idea of clean lines and zero ornamentation as a concept in 1931 France was about as avant-garde as it gets. This house, situated in the middle of a field in Poissy, in the western suburbs of Paris, is a paragon of Le Corbusier’s five rules of architecture in that it features pilotis, a roof garden, an open floor plan, ribbon windows, and an open facade. With his church in Ronchamps and Unité d'Habitation apartment building in Marseille, this is his most famous and important building.
Sacré-Coeur
The Catholic basilica atop Montmartre blends elements of Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, which contrasts sharply with the surrounding neighborhood. The views of the city are worth the schlep. Oh, and John Wick “died” here. Enough said.
Place Vendôme
There’s so much to say about this square. Planted at its center, there’s the Vendôme Column, in its oxidized bronze glory, commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorate the Battle of Austerlitz. Then there’s the Ritz , which opened here in 1898 and has been the gold standard for luxury hotel service and amenities ever since. For you history buffs, it was, among many other things, where Princess Diana was staying the night she died. Coco Chanel had her atelier on Rue Cambon, directly behind the Ritz. The square is also a retail Mecca with boutique representation of brands including Alexander Reza, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Charvet.
Notre-Dame Cathedral
In April 2019, the world watched in horror as the greatest Gothic cathedral (according to most architecture historians as well as Hertz rental car service) was engulfed in flames after a hellish structural fire broke out under the eaves of the roof. Five years later, after major restoration including a new spire made from 1,000 oak trees from France’s Loire region, Notre-Dame will open its doors to the public this December.
Place de la Concorde
Place de la Concorde is the other of Paris’s most postcard-famous public squares whose nucleus is a phallic monument. The 75-foot Luxor obelisk, made in ancient Egypt of pink granite and inscribed with hieroglyphics, was a gift from Egypt to France in the 19th century. And just like Place Vendôme, this one also has a historic hospitality establishment in the Hotel de Crillon . Before you could book a room there, the 1758 building designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel was where King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette spent their final two years before being guillotined outside in the square.

A Guide to Paris's 4th Arrondissement
T he 4th arrondissement of Paris is full of character, charm and history. It is home to historical sites, art galleries, interesting shops and is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in Paris.
As the founder of En Route to Rêverie I have helped hundreds of people plan a trip to Paris via Rêverie in Paris so I am there often and know the 4th arrondissement well.
This post will give you a taste of what the 4th arrondissement has to offer.
A Guide To Paris’s 4th Arrondissement
Where is the 4th arrondissement in paris.
The 4th arrondissement of Paris (often seen written as the IVe arrondissement) is one of the twenty arrondissements of the capital city. It neighbors the 3rd arrondissement and the two together are referred to as Le Marais.
The 4th arrondissement is known for its little winding streets, plentiful cafés and shops but it is also often regarded by Parisians as expensive and overly crowded following an explosion in its popularity in the past fifteen years.
Things To Do In 4th Arrondissement Paris
Centre pompidou.
Named after Georges Pompidou you can’t miss the wildly modern, seemingly out of place museum that is the Pompidou Center. It is Paris’s modern art museum and features a variety of permanent and special exhibits, a special section for kids and a rooftop restaurant. The museums offers wonderful views over Paris.
This museum is set to be closed for several years to be renovated starting in 2025.
Place des Vosges
This historic square is one of my very favorite places in all of Paris.
Notre-Dame de Paris
The eastern part of the Île de la Cité which is home to Notre Dame Cathedral is included in the 4th arrondissement. The church remains closed following the 2019 fire that devastated much of the roof and other parts of the iconic building. It is expected to open near the end of 2024.
Hôtel de Ville
This Renaissance-era building services as Paris City Hall and was rebuilt between 1874 and 1882. During the holidays it features a Christmas market of sorts.
Île Saint-Louis
This charming island is a must-see when you visit Paris. Find out what not to miss in my guide of What to See on Île de la Cité and Île Saint Louis .
Taste Berthillon Ice Cream
No visit to Île Saint-Louis is complete without tasting famed and legendary Berthillon ice cream. Many places on the island serve it but going to the original storefront is the best in my opinion. I’ve been eating Berthillon since I was a little girl!
There’s an abundance of places to dine in the 4th arrondissement. I save all my very favorite restaurant recommendations in Paris for my En Route to Rêverie Rêverie in Paris clients but further below are a few reliable spots to consider.
Take a food tour
If you want to try a variety of the best bites that this neighborhood has to offer, consider a food tour. We have a variety of vendors we love sending our En Route to Rêverie Rêverie in Paris clients to. I am also able to arrange private wine tastings and other experiences in this neighborhood.
Visit Art Galleries
This neighborhood has loads of art galleries to explore if this is something you enjoy!
Get off at Metro stop Saint Paul and you’ll be right in the midst of plenty of shopping to explore. You’ll find high street stores like Sandro and Maje but also a variety of epiceries and vintage stores, too.
Tour the Jewish Quarter
Since the end of the 19th century, the Marais has been populated by a significant Jewish population with the Rue des Rosiers being at the heart of its community. There are a handful of kosher restaurants and Jewish institutions and you can also find walking tours of the area to learn more about the history.
Best Restaurants In 4th Arrondissement Paris
I save all my very favorite restaurant recommendations in Paris for my En Route to Rêverie Rêverie in Paris clients but below are a few reliable spots to consider.
L’As du Fallafel
Simple yet famed Middle Eastern eatery for fast falafels, shawarma & kebabs. There’s indoor dining but most people take it away. Go early if you’d like to avoid a line. I love the Falafel Special sandwich and if you like spicy food get their hot sauce added! This is a great affordable lunch option with most sandwiches being under 10 Euros. Note they are closed on Sundays.
Season Paris
Healthy yet delicious light fare and juices. Salads, granola and grain bowls abound in this bright and airy space in the Marais. An En Route to Rêverie favorite for many years. Open every day.
Georges Rooftop at the Centre Pompidou
This is a striking restaurant in an equally striking museum. Upscale dining surrounded by floor to ceiling windows that offer gorgeous views of Paris on a clear day. Not the most amazing food you’ll ever have, but worth it if you’re looking for a restaurant with a view. Has a great terrace for sunny days as well and on the ascent to the top of the museum you can take in Paris from above. Book before sunset if you want to watch the sun go down behind the Eiffel Tower. Closed Tuesdays.
La Brasserie de l’Isle Saint-Louis
This spot has friendly service and is situated on an iconic and photogenic corner on Île Saint Louis. The tables outside offer ideal people watching views.
Best Hotels In 4th Arrondissement Paris
There are hundreds of hotels in the 4eme and I have stayed at a variety and we book En Route to Rêverie Rêverie in Paris clients here all the time. But all hotels are not created equal and the 4th is also not an arrondissement we’d recommend everyone stay in for a variety of reasons.

Joana Hanna’s Insider’s Guide to Paris: A love story
Joana Hanna, Multisport Creative, On Partner and Parisienne, moves through the city sharing her pick of the best places to feel the ‘anything is possible’ energy.
Words by Joana Hanna. Photography by Jean-Marc Jaleel.
Romance, revolution and reaching new goals: From fashion weeks to sporting seasons, the world’s doers, makers and dreamers are coming together this summer to celebrate their love for the French capital. On speaks to multisport creative and Parisienne local, Joana Hanna , to get an insider’s take on what the city of light – and the secrets it holds – means to her.
“Bienvenue to Paris, my home, my city.”
I was born in Courbevoie, a Parisian suburb, and grew up in the East of Paris. I spend a lot of time in Paris central and around Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement, also known as SoMa (South Marais). It’s full of independent stores, galleries and bars.
It’s also home to the Maison de Victor Hugo , now a museum dedicated to the famous French writer who once said, “Breathe Paris in. It nourishes the soul.” In the early-mid 19th Century, Hugo wrote a big part of Les Misérables at this Musée mansion – and it’s worth a visit to feel inspired by his creativity alone.
Mornings, when the sun rises, are when I’m at my most creative. But I’m not one of those people who has to have a strict routine. I travel a lot, but I consistently start the day with good coffee and a good walk. Espresso is the classic local coffee order, but I treat myself to an oat milk latte. It goes on ice when the sun’s out.
“Espresso is the classic local coffee order…”
I’m a naturally active person, and Paris is a joy if you love to move. Soccer and basketball were my favorite team sports at college. Today, I enjoy Vinyasa yoga classes at Kind Yoga , indoor soccer (futsal) sessions with my friends and family at Le Five on Sundays, or a good run “sur les quais” by the Seine. Running on the waterside is beautiful, and I run best without all the Parisian traffic lights, so I can relax and find my flow .
You can’t come to Paris without trying the ‘Choux à la crème’ from boulangerie, Mamiche . They’re not too sweet, super light and incredibly moreish. Or you can also try the ‘Babkas’ (for the cinnamon lovers) at French Bastards , perfect with a Jasmine tea – my favorite combination. My favorite coffee shops ( Partisan Café Artisanal , Café Kitsuné , and Noir ) of course serve delicious coffee, but also have an aesthetic that works well on Instagram – everything tastes better if you can share it with friends.
My favorite way to travel around Paris is to walk or run. We have more and more bike paths too, so that’s another great option to get a feel for the city. I think the Metro’s the most cost-effective way to get the furthest, the quickest – that’s the most popular mode of transport for Paris locals, for sure.
“Everything tastes better if you can share it with friends.”
There’s this tiny hidden coffee shop not far away from the Eiffel Tower in the 16th arrondissement that I kept to myself for a long time. It’s very small and in Maison de Balzac , where there’s also a tiny museum dedicated to Honoré de Balzac, the French writer well known for his comedy and short stories. It’s got a cute garden and view of the Tower – go on a sunny day if you can.
I’m proud to be a local and it’s fun to talk about what makes a person ‘Parisienne’ – whether that refers to food, wine, culture, style, the sports they choose or the attitude they have. That said, Paris also has an incredible global community, and celebrates bringing people together through those same, shared passions. Everyone is welcome. Great food, art, architecture, green spaces – and of course, romance – is for everyone.
Just as the history and legacy of a city like Paris informs its future, so you can make an analogy here with the discipline of running. All the training that goes before race day, will inform your performance, and perhaps, your destiny as a champion.
“Training will inform your performance, and perhaps, your destiny as a champion.”
My one piece of advice for anyone visiting Paris is, don’t fall in love too fast! Take your time to enjoy all the city has to offer.
Explore On’s running routes in Paris
The culture run
A 12.3km route with just 62m of elevation. Start in the spirit of revolution at the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), pass The Louvre and take in the glorious sights of the City of Light.
The energy run
A more challenging 17.6km route, with 106m of elevation. This route covers some of the distance elite marathoners will run this summer. Follow in their footsteps, without the obligatory ice bath and recovery time.
The coffee run
An easy, 9.5km route with just 44m of elevation. It connects Bonjour Jacob with some of the city's best refueling stations (Note: French Bastards bakes are a right of passage) and finishes up at fitness studio, La Montgolfière. Raise your warm-up game with an espresso, and let your legs do the rest.

Taylor Swift Wears Kansas City Chiefs Colors at Paris Eras Show With Travis Kelce in the Audience

Taylor Swift had the perfect outfit for her final Eras Tour show in Paris, considering who was in the audience. The pop star appeared in Kansas City Chiefs colors for the 1989 set of her performance Sunday (May 12), and tight end Travis Kelce adorably jammed out to his superstar girlfriend’s show from the crowd at La Defense Arena.

Following the 1989 set, Swift performed a series of songs from The Tortured Poets Department for just the fourth time so far. Fan videos captured Kelce smiling and dancing along to “So High School,” which many think the singer wrote about the athlete. During the number, she and her dancers swag surf as part of the choreography, a sweet tribute to Chiefs Kingdom.
Later, Swift sang another Tortured Poets track believed to be about Kelce as a surprise song — “The Alchemy” — which she mashed up with Red ‘s “Treacherous.” While she strummed on the guitar, the Ohio native swayed and held up a cute hand heart at the 14-time Grammy winner.

A survivor's guide to Taylor Swift floor tickets: Lessons from an Eras Tour veteran
STOCKHOLM — Thousands of fans line up each morning ahead of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows hoping to get one of the coveted spots on the open, first-come, first-served arena floor.
In America, fans buy designated seats. Abroad, the floor is like a Southwest flight. There are no assigned seats, and those with VIP tickets nab the best spots since they are let into the arena an hour early.
Unless fans have VIP tickets, they'll probably end up in the mid-to-back sections of the floor, no matter how early they line up. After getting two floor tickets to two shows — one in Paris and one in Sweden — here are my tips for navigating the magic and madness of the ground level.
Like we were in Paris
An hour before Swift's last show in Paris, I and a friend of mine made a last-minute decision to buy $150 floor tickets off StubHub. We went to the arena 10 minutes before the opening act, Paramore, took the stage. At intermission, we stood by the VIP tent. I was able to say hi to "Grey’s Anatomy" star Jessica Capshaw . Twenty feet away, singer Christina Milian sat in a director's chair.
Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
Up above fans noticed Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce , his best friend Ross Travis, actor Bradley Cooper, supermodel Gigi Hadid and rock star Lenny Kravitz in a suite. I could understand why Kelce was in a box. The chaos of fans zooming in on their phone cameras to get grainy shots of his every reaction and waving arm dance moves was nonstop. But I get it, I got one for Instagram when Swift punctuated her 87th — his jersey number — show with a mashup of love songs including one that he inspired: “The Alchemy,” “Treacherous,” “Begin Again” and “Paris.”
Walking along the back rim of the floor and following Swift as she performed from different parts of the massive catwalk, I felt carefree and untethered. It was liberating not to fear losing a spot. Several fans danced in the less congested area similar to the thousands who danced in theater aisles during the blockbuster release of the concert movie.
Predicting Kelce would come down near the stage during “Karma,” I walked over to the guardrail and waved during the “Midnights” song. He and Swift took a different exit than her dancers, singers and bandmates. My friend had been to the Eras Tour a few times before and said that was his favorite show.
It’s nice to have a friend
In Sweden, I bought a floor seat on the right side of the stage. Hoping to get a closer spot, I camped out. The long wait created a mini community that exchanged friendship bracelets and the latest clown theories while posting videos to Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. My favorite costumes in the Y entrance line were two Reputation clowns wearing scaly dresses and snaky blue boas paired with bright-red clown wigs that made everyone smile. (The joke is Swifties incessantly “clown” the singer will announce the rerelease of her sixth album and she has yet to.)
The shade from Friends Arena blocked the Swedish sun with temperatures in the 70s. The less-than-long merch lines allowed fans to save each other’s spaces to buy $75 hoodies and $45 T-shirts.
With no bags allowed in the arena , fans filled their pockets with only essentials like external battery chargers, wallets, passports and chapsticks.
Patient line waiters drank water early. Two Finnish fans by me said they stopped hydrating a couple hours before doors opened for fear of getting a good place and having to use the restroom.
Thousands of VIP fans entered an hour early, and any hope of getting a stage-side dominion was lost for general admission.
I staked a claim near the railing on the side of the stage base (by the corner of the back screen). Guitarist Paul Sidoti threw guitar picks to fans. Back-up vocalists Kamilah Marshall and Eliotte Woodford waved to admirers between running backstage for wardrobe changes and joining Swift center-stage. Pianist Karina DePiano stayed at the keys the whole concert but danced and sang to every tune. The other bandmates and vocalists were on the opposite, left corner.
Security guards who bordered the stage between the fan barricade and catwalk had stacks of cups and multiple, liter-sized water bottles. They frequently asked if anyone needed hydration. Around the “1989” set two-thirds of the way into the show, Swifties took the guards up on the offer.
At least four times on Swift's third night in Stockholm, fans were escorted by a guard along the stage to an area where they would get medical attention. One of the four was carried by a guard who asked his cohorts to get the girl water. Outside, the night chill hovered at 54 degrees and inside the arena’s temperature was tepid at best.
Several water stations on the floor included disposable cups with multiple faucets over a bathtub where fans could fill up.
At one point during the acoustic set, Swift paused to ask fans , “Someone in the front row, can you tell me yes or no to this question: When you guys are putting a bunch of flashlights up in a group, does that mean people need help?”

Best seat in the house?
There are advantages to each section of the floor. The diamond part of the stage is the premier spot for the most close interactions with Swift. It gets the rising platform, smoke shooters and bulk of the performances.
The two base corners by the back screen and the catwalk between the back screen and diamond allow fans to see “The Man” set, “Folklore” cottage and famous “Enchanted” look back as Swift exits the “Speak Now” era. It’s also the space where most entrances and exits happen.
The far end of the catwalk is where the “22" hat is given out, where “Love Story” culminates as flashing lights shoot across the entire arena and where Swift begins “The Tortured Poets Department” era with “But Daddy I Love Him.”
After being to multiple shows, I would vie for a seat looking directly at the stage, perpendicular to the back screen. You get the chance to give your legs and back a rest between eras. You have a designated spot, and you can see the entire show including animations.
The open floor offers two options. For the VIP ticket holder, you get a front row vantage of the record-breaking show along with the best photo and video opportunities. But if you’re not in VIP and on the floor, succumb to not getting the best media and dance in your best dress, fearless.
