If you were to quickly name the top five things Michael Jordan loved more than anything, what would make the list?

Basketball; winning; his mom; golf; gambling; cigars — any combination of those probably covers it.

But one thing that slips under the radar on MJ’s list of passions is motorsports.

This might not come as such a huge surprise in 2021, given His Airness now owns a NASCAR team with Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin at the wheel, but racing has always been one of Jordan’s interests.

According to the official Jordan Brand blog, MJ even agreed to stop riding motorcycles when he signed his first NBA contract , such was his love for the sport.

His NASCAR team isn’t his first foray into ownership: between 2004 and 2014, the iconic Jumpman logo was plastered on the racing bikes of riders on Team Jordan.

Automotive inspiration runs deep in the Jordan sneaker line, too. We all remember the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Motorsport’ release from 2017, but did you know the famed “Thunder and Lightning” pack from 2006 was also a tribute to Team Jordan racing?

The “Lightning” colorway — an Air Jordan 4 retro heavy on the yellow — is now considered a grail for many, given it hasn’t been seen since. Well, not until now anyway.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Tour Yellow,’ dropping on 8/28, brings back that long-awaited bright lightning-esque shade after a decade and a half of waiting.

Dressed in full-grain nubuck leather, the ‘Tour Yellow’ is the second release we’ve seen this month with a bright yellow look.

The 2021 cousin of the “Lightning” pair features black tooling, a white midsole and Dark Blue Grey accents to complete the picture.

Air Jordan 4 Retro “Lightning”

The colorway, which has been dormant since its 2006 release, but is coming back after 15 years in the vault. The return lines up with Jordan Brand’s commitment to bringing an entire slate of Air Jordan 4s starting with the “Fire Red” in 2020 all the way to 2021. While confirmation is still up in the air for the “Lightning” release, our hopes are high this time around.

After dropping earlier this past August, the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Lightning” is set to restock on the SNKRS app, sometime this week of November 21-November 27. Jordan Brand is reissuing a beloved Air Jordan 4 style this week.

The sportswear brand confirmed via the Nike SNKRS app that the highly anticipated Air Jordan 4 “Tour Yellow” will hit shelves this week in sizing for the entire family.

This iteration of Michael Jordan’s popular signature basketball shoe debuted in 2006 and is the first time the style is releasing since the initial drop. The shoe is often referred to as the “Lightning” colorway due to its similarities to its electrical counterpart. The upper features a bold yellow nubuck leather upper and is contrasted by gray and black eyelets. Adding to the look is a metallic silver Jumpman branding on the heel, a white midsole, and a gray outsole.

The Air Jordan 4 “Tour Yellow” will be released this Saturday on the SNKRS app at 10 a.m. ET and at select Jordan Brand retailers. The adults’ version of the shoe will retail for $220. In addition, the style will be available in big kids’ sizing ($150), little kids’ sizing ($80) and toddler sizing ($60).

Seen for the first time in 2006 , the legendary edition Lightning makes a comeback to the delight of fans of the Air Jordan 4 , already spoiled by the release of the Air Jordan 4 University Blue !

There Air Jordan 4 Retro Round Yellow (Lightning) displays a yellow leather base coupled with gray and black elements at the level of the net in TPE black and eyelets. There is a white midsole that is intertwined with the gray outsole. On the branding side, we find a Jumpman oversized On the tab and on the outsole.

The GS version of this silhouette is slightly different from the MEN version. We note in particular that the number of holes on the plastic eyelets is five on the GS against 9 on the men size.

The Air Jordan 4 LS “Tour Yellow” was a lifestyle retro that released back in May 20, 2006 for $125 USD.

Dressed in a White, Tour Yellow, Dark Blue Grey, and Black color scheme. This offering of the Air Jordan 4 features a White leather upper with Black wing flaps and Grey on the eyelets. Other details includes Tour Yellow contrasting accents on the speckled midsole and tongue labels with Dark Blue Grey dressing the inner tongue and portion of the outsole. Jumpman heel logos replaces the classic “Nike Air” branding to complete the design.
