March 31, 2022 - Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the experienced provider of luxury and expedition travel, publishes the main catalog for the 2023/2024 season of the new expedition class and opens the booking channels.

The program for the three ships HANSEATIC nature, HANSEATIC inspiration and HANSEATIC spirit includes more than 70 voyages worldwide - including the half circumnavigation of Antarctica, the Inside Passage in Alaska and the legendary Northwest Passage. The versatile routes also include expedition trips in Europe without long flights and winter adventures to and from Hamburg.

Near and far, icy and tropical. The three small, manoeuvrable ships of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' new expedition class, equipped with the highest ice class for passenger ships (PC6), the most modern technology and the latest environmental standards such as shore power and SCR catalytic converters, will be on more than 2023 voyages in the 2024/70 season to sail the world's seas. Expedition adventures with nature experiences, experienced scientists and experts on board as well as the well-known comfort and service of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises await the guests.

Thrilling peak in the ice

The southern and northern polar regions are once again a focal point in the new main catalogue. In addition to impressive animal observations, guests can look forward to a wondrous world of glaciers, lonely expanses and bizarre ice formations. Nine expedition voyages lead to Antarctica between November 2023 and March 2024. In addition to the large expedition route with the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Shetland Islands, the Antarctic Peninsula and the Antarctic Circle, the HANSEATIC spirit, on which only adults aged 2023 and over will travel from the 2024/16 season, will be used during the semi-circumnavigation Antarctica in 35 days from Ushuaia (Argentina) via the Antarctic mainland and the islands of the New Zealand sub-Antarctic to Christchurch (New Zealand).

There will be an icy premiere in the summer of 2024 with the HANSEATIC inspiration. During the Franz-Josef-Land and Northeast Spitsbergen expedition, two of the most remote island groups in the Arctic are combined on one route for the first time in 17 days far away from civilization. Also in the summer of 2024, the HANSEATIC inspiration explores Svalbard four times, while the HANSEATIC nature discovers the volcanic wonderland in the Arctic Circle on two expedition trips around Iceland. In September 2024, those interested can look forward to the contrast of ice and lush green forests when the HANSEATIC inspiration travels to Greenland, Newfoundland and the St. Lawrence River on the expedition. The HANSEATIC spirit will navigate one of the most famous sea routes in the world, the Northwest Passage, in September 2024. It will then take the route from Seward (Alaska) to Kangerlussuaq (Greenland).

Premiere trips in North and South America

The HANSEATIC inspiration will take guests to the North American Great Lakes four times during the Indian Summer in autumn 2023 and 2024. Thanks to the retractable bridge wing, the ship is predestined for the locks and canals of the lake landscape. Overwhelming natural spectacles are also on the program in South and Central America. In November 2023, the HANSEATIC inspiration will embark on a tour from Colon to Valparaíso and pass through the legendary Panama Canal. At the same time, the HANSEATIC spirit is completing a premiere voyage: the expedition “Around South America” takes 21 days from Montevideo (Uruguay) via Cape Horn to Puerto Montt (Chile), thus uniting the regions of Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean fjords.

Natural and cultural treasures of Europe and Asia

At the request of many guests, the HANSEATIC nature will increasingly travel in European waters and thus offer expeditions without long flights. For example, the Azores, Andalusia and Catalonia, nature experiences around Ireland, winter polar light trips to Norway and the winter adventure in Lapland are on the program. The HANSEATIC spirit will initially go to New Zealand and the South Seas in early 2024, as well as island hopping to Papua New Guinea and Palau. Along with the 23 cruises featured in the previous cruise catalogue, 23 additional, new cruises to exciting expedition destinations have been revealed, including the icy regions of the Arctic and Antarctic, South America, South Africa and the Atlantic islands, northern and Western Europe, Scotland, Greenland, the Canadian Arctic, the South Seas, New Zealand, Japan, the Russian Far East and Alaska. The HANSEATIC inspiration will also sail the Great Lakes of North America, where its retractable bridge wing will allow it to negotiate the narrow locks. The catalogue is available to order from 24 February 2020 via the website. All cruises can be booked now through the website www.hl-cruises.com and partner travel agencies.

With 144 pages, the new catalogue for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ international expedition vessel, the HANSEATIC inspiration, presents a total of 46 true expedition routes from November 2020 through to September 2022. The 230-guest HANSEATIC inspiration is one of three ships in the new expedition class from Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The trio will be completed in May 2021 when the HANSEATIC spirit joins the HANSEATIC nature and HANSEATIC inspiration. ms Europa deck plan review at CruiseMapper provides newest cruise deck plans (2024-2025-2026 valid floor layouts of the vessel) extracted from the officially issued by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises deckplan pdf (printable version).

Each of the ms Europa cruise ship deck plans are conveniently combined with a legend (showing cabin codes) and detailed review of all the deck's venues and passenger-accessible indoor and outdoor areas. A separate link provides an extensive information on ms Europa staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.

MS Europa 1 (1999-built, last refurbished in 2020 May) is Hapag-Lloyd's first newbuild cruise ship - followed by ms Europa 2 (2013). The vessel was constructed in Helsinki Finland . This is a top-luxury boutique ship operated with all-inclusive deals.

MS Europa cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 204 cabins (for 408 passengers) served by 285 staff-crew. The boat has 11 decks, of which 8 are passenger-accessible and 5 with cabins. MS Europa deckplan changes 2017 refurbishment review

The ship's 2017 drydock refurbishment (September 27-October 13, done by Blohm+Voss in Hamburg Germany ) resulted in the following changes:

• The entire wellness area (spa and gym aft on deck 7) was redesigned, renovated. The fitness equipment was upgraded. The spa amenities were upgraded.
• The ship's 36 suites without balconies were upgraded with new en-suite bathrooms.
• One of the ship's propulsion units (Azipod motor computer) was replaced.

During drydock 2022 (2-week project by Blohm+Voss, supervised by Trimline) were completely renovated 56 passenger staterooms, including flooring/new carpets, fixed furniture, soft furnishings, light fixtures and fittings.

The previous drydocking was in May 2020, for scheduled maintenance and classification works.

TUI Group: Cruise Delivers Record Q2 Result

TUI Group has reported its first half and second quarter 2024 financial results, noting that its cruise business delivered a record result marked by higher occupancies and improved rates within a strong trading environment.

The company operates three cruise brands: TUI Cruises, Marella Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

The company expects to grow capacity by six percent in the second half of the year with the Mein Schiff 7 set to enter service in June. It said occupancy is up seven percent and ticket prices are ahead for the second half by three (TUI), five (Marella) and two (Hapag-Lloyd) percent.

Occupancy was reported at 100 percent for TUI Cruises, 77 percent for Hapag-Lloyd and 99 percent for Marella.

Daily rates were 169 euro for TUI, up from 136euro  a year prior; 197 euro for Marella, up from 181 euro a year prior; and 772 euro for Hapag-Lloyd, down from 780 euro.
