Dalla vista laterale notiamo come prima cosa i cerchi disponibili in lega con misure che vanno a seconda della versione dai 16 ai 18 pollici con gomme che a richiesta possono essere in grado di affrontare tutti i terreni. Tutto all’esterno della Ford Excursion ci fa capire che ha delle grandi capacità fuoristradistiche, pertanto riportiamo anche l’altezza di guado che arriva fino ai 70 centimetri, l’altezza da terra supera i 20 centimetri e gli angoli di attacco e di uscita sono però simili ad un SUV compatto e non fuoristradistico, attorno ai 20 gradi. La Ford Excursion fa sfoggio delle sue misure generose, in tipico stile Americano e viene proposto nella versione normale senza mai esagerare e non avendo una versione Lusso come spesso accade per i suoi sfidanti di GMC.

Interni Ford Excursion

L’abitacolo della Ford Excursion risulta essere votato alla semplicità ed alla ricercatezza, ma al tempo stesso deve essere pratico e resistente, riuscendo anche ad integrare allo stesso tempo contenuti che migliorano il comfort e adottando le più recenti tecnologie al servizio della sicurezza e dell’infotainment. Praticamente è come accomodarsi nel proprio salotto di casa date le dimensioni, con al centro della plancia trova la sua posizione il sistema della vettura che prevede un’autaoradio ad 1 din di serie che può essere sostituita con una a schermo LCD, Dietro al volante spicca un cruscotto analogico semplice e ben distribuito con alloggiati i due indicatori di giri del cruscotto ed i vari livelli e valori del motore. Sul Ford Excursion risulta essere sempre disponibile la leva del cambio dietro al volante al fine di avere maggior spazio per gli occupanti. Per il resto la plancia risulta semplice e tutti i tasti sono ben visibili ed immersi nella radica. Al posto della consueta leva del cambio risulta essere posizionato un porta telefono ed alcuni portaoggetti. Chi siede sui sedili trova facilmente il proprio spazio come se fosse un monolocale, tutti e otto i passeggeri viaggiano veramente comodi. Una chicca del Chevrolet Traverse è la possibilità di alzare lo schermo dell’infotainment dietro il quale si cela un vano portaoggetti perfetto per riporre un portafoglio o tutto ciò che uno non vuole far vedere.

Il capitolo Adas vede protagonisti nell’equipaggiamento dell’Excursion sono ABS ed ESP che per l’età del mezzo risultano essere rare, cui si aggiungono i sensori di parcheggio e la videocamera di retromarcia.

Motori Ford Excursion

Il Ford Excursion, fin dalla prima serie, monta motori V8 con configurazioni tipicamente americane, stiamo parlando di oltre 5.0 litri. Il primo modello a benzina portava il SOHC V8 a 5.4 litri e circa 260 cavalli o un diesel che addirittura arrivava a 7.3 litri V8 Turbo da 300 cavalli. Con l’ultima versione i motori sono molto differenti. L’ultima serie di Ford Excursion viene offerta con motorizzazioni benzina e diesel che hanno sempre taglio nettamente Made in USA, ma risultano più potenti e parche nei consumi. Da punto di vista del benzina troviamo un 6.8 litri V10 da 310 CV e 576 Nm di coppia, un motore che vede alzare l’asticella dei motori benzina, invece sul fronte diesel troviamo un 6.0 litri V8 da 325 cavalli e 560 Nm di coppia e rappresenta sempre una valida alternativa, con la sua coppia è costantemente in grado di regalare emozioni anche su una vettura di oltre 5 metri. Tutti i propulsori vedono abbinato un cambio automatico a 4 velocità per i benzina e 5 per i Diesel, in opzione questi motori vengono forniti con la possibilità di installare un impianto GPL.

Ricordiamo che tutti i Ford Excursion non sono in vendita in Europa, ma solo d’importazione, pertanto tutti i motori si possono scegliere con il GPL dall’importatore. Come ci si può aspettare da un mezzo del genere il cambio è rigorosamente automatico a 4 o 5 rapporti e la trazione integrale permanente. I consumi ben, non è dato sapersi, ma di sicuro non sono molto lusinghieri, dato appunto il forte consiglio di montare l’impianto GPL sul benzina. Però si può affermare che per entrambi i motori la velocità massima è di 190 chilometri orari e per lo scatto da 0 a 100 si parla di 9 secondi per il benzina più potente, dato che è necessario spostare una mole così grande sono numeri pazzeschi.

Prezzi Ford Excursion

Il listino prezzi del Ford Excursion, contando tutta l’americanità che nasconde sottopelle, non può che essere alto, anche considerando il fatto che questi modelli non hanno mai riscosso molto successo per l’Italia in quanto il grosso SUV in quanto non venne mai venduto. La versione base del Ford Excursion è la versione Base con prezzi che oscillavano intorno ai 20.000 euro più iva presso un importatore locale, ma che non è escluso possano lievitare ulteriormente. La versione più costosa però arriva a costare poco meno di 40.000 euro spese d’importazione e iva escluse.

Nella versione di base del Ford Excursion ha per l’allestimento base molte caratteristiche tra cui sono disponibili: interni in tessuto, volante in pelle, passaruota in tinta, cerchi da 16, Abs Esp, sensori parcheggio , Condizionamento aria manuale, Attacchi ISOFIX, sedili posteriori, serrature di sicurezza per bambini nelle porte posteriori, mentre sono mantenuti su tutti il controllo elettronico della stabilità, assistenza alla frenata di emergenza, differenziale posteriore standard. Insomma rimane una grande attenzione alla sicurezza anche se scarno. L’allestimento più bello, il Luxury, risulta essere già più accessoriato e si distingue per i cerchi in lega da 17” lo navigatore ed un passo maggiore.

Il Ford Excursion a oggi è disponibile solo con versioni dal tipico piglio fortemente americano. Queste versioni sono tutte dotate di motori benzina V10, motore che andò molto anche nel Bel Paese e qualche diesel V8, il primo propulsore oggi risulta essere dotato d’impianto GPL. Mediamente i prezzi delle versioni precedenti variano da 13.000 a 20.000 euro, ma non si esclude che in futuro i prezzi andranno ulteriormente ad aumentarne sia per la rarità del mezzo sia per il suo essere Americano.

Il Ford Excursion si classifica tutti gli effetti nel cuore del segmento dei SUV di lusso di tutto il mondo data la sua notorietà e la sua presenza, che però, a causa di una legislazione strana e dallo scarso interesse nel nostro paese, per via delle dimensioni e dell’importazione non vanno per la maggiore, questo Ford offre il meglio delle doti di lusso esaltandone le linee e la voglia di andare ovunque. Sono comunque presenti alcuni concorrenti minori come il Nissan Murano , il Fiat Freemont e suo fratello il Dodge Journey , il Mercedes Classe ML, il Ford F-150, il Renault Kadjar ed il Volkswagen Touareg o Audi Q8 . Per tutti la parola d’ordine è lusso e spazio a volontà.

Il Ford Excursion è nato per il SUV economico e lo fa nel migliore dei modi. Ovviamente il SUV offre spazio a volontà per otto occupanti. Inoltre sono presenti molte possibilità di personalizzazione e c’è n’è davvero per tutte le tasche, che però di base devono non essere molto vuote.
