Even if you answer yes to the question, I have a suggestion on how to sleep better.

Did you know that you can purchase the same bed you’ll find at a Disney resort ? It’s true!

Here’s how to buy the Disney bed of your dreams.

The Magic Name Is Beautyrest

Like many manufacturers, Beautyrest has broadened its horizons during the 21 st century. The company now sells some unique items.

You may not realize that Beautyrest has been the supplier for Disney beds for a long time now.

When you visit a Disney resort, odds are good that you’ll sleep on a Beautyrest mattress.

For that matter, Disney Cruise Line bedding generally comes from Beautyrest as well.

So, if you’ve ever thought, “Wow, I wish my bed at home were this comfortable,” I have fantastic news!

You can purchase one of these beds for your master bedroom as the centerpiece of a more comfortable lifestyle!

Where to Find a Disney Bed

If you go to the official Beautyrest website, you won’t find these beds…unless you know where to look!

The home page for the site sells the most prominent products, their mattress lines that you’ll find in any store. That’s not what you want, though!

You’re here for the Disney stuff, and that’s available at a different website, BeautyrestGuestPurchase.com . Here, you can shop for hotel mattresses.

I want to stress that these aren’t used mattresses, though. That would be gross.

The company offers you the chance to purchase the same products that its business clients buy.

Also, Beautyrest brags that 18 out of the top 20 hotel brands in the world use their products.

Since a comfortable bed is arguably the most crucial part of a hotel stay, you know that Beautyrest mattresses are comfortable.

If not, they wouldn’t dominate the industry to this degree. The explanation involves the mattress design.

How to Buy a Disney Bed

Beautyrest offers four different Disney mattresses. Here are their names and prices:

• Disney Value Plush — $699
• Disney Moderate Plush — $799

Three of these mattresses strive for a balance between firm and soft. Fans of more forgiving bedding will prefer the Disney Moderate Plush. It’s very soft.

Obviously, these prices seem extremely reasonable. I bought a non-Disney bed recently, and it cost more than the Disney Moderate Plush.

So, you have a remarkable opportunity the next time you are mattress shopping.

You can buy the same bed you use at Disney for your own home! And there’s not even an upcharge! The beds come with affordable pricing!

Disney Cruise Line Bed- Mattress, Sheets, and Pillows

I can confidently say that the best sleep I’ve ever had in my adult life was on a Disney Cruise. It could be the boat gently rocking. It could be the knowledge that I can wake up whenever I want.

It could be that if my 7-year-old wakes me up at 4AM trying to crawl under my bed because she has to go to the bathroom for the 37th time, I can put her in the Oceaneer’s Club in the morning and go back to sleep. And let’s not forget the lack of responsibility, the disconnect from technology, and pixie dust.

But it could also be the bed. For most Disney Cruise Line guests, the beds are extremely comfortable. Some people even claim in forums that chronic hip, neck, and shoulder pain magically disappears on a Disney cruise ship. And a lot of the guests return home to find that their own bed just doesn’t cut it anymore.

So below I’ll let you know where you can reassemble the perfect night’s sleep when you return to land. If you’ve just returned from the Disney Wish, the Disney Fantasy, or one of the other boats, here’s how you can sleep again.

Disney Cruise Mattress- Biscayne Bedding Calmness Euro Top

Disney Cruise Line mattresses come from Biscayne Bedding International, a Miami, Florida based company. The model is called Calmness Euro Top on the Biscayne website, but it’s also known as the Bimini Euro Top, and the Diamond Euro Top.

It features an “individually Wrapped Coil, the True 6-sided Foam Encased for additional Edge Support, the Gel Infused Memory Foam, the 5-Zoned Convoluted Foam and the High Density Foam for comfort and durability” according to Orlando Furniture Expo (see link below).

I don’t know what all of that means, but Gel-infused memory foam made me feel more relaxed just reading it, and I can confirm that the edge support is great. I didn’t fall off when my wife kneed me in the back in her sleep. And I wasn’t even mad because the bed is that comfortable.

I emailed Biscayne to ask about it, and they told me that the name of the mattress was the Diamond Euro Top (which is odd, because that’s not a product on their website). In the email communication, they recommended the Beds Best Bargain website for a retailer that would ship out of the state of Florida.

Here’s where you can buy it. I listed several links to different mattress stores because none list the price. It will give you options. And remember, if you’re not local to Florida, choose the 3rd option. (None of these are affiliate links)

I should note that in the forums, a few (not a majority) of people complained that their new mattress was not as soft as the cruise line mattress. Customer service told them to give it several months to break in.

Disney Cruise Pillows- Harbor Linen New Generation

But maybe my amazing slumber came from the pillows. The pillows are most commonly called Harbor Linen New Generation, and they come in medium and firm. But here’s the bad news, I can only find the medium ones for sale to the general public. If you liked the medium ones, where your head sinks down a little bit, you can recreate your Disney cruise experience.

Most people in reviews across the internet loved the pillow and felt the same magical experience of Mickey tucking them in, but several complained that it was not as firm as they were expecting. Or, maybe our heads just weigh more when we’re not floating on the ocean.

According to our baby, just putting your hands on the pillows can make you sleep like a baby.

The pillow is a non-allergenic, down imitation pillow. This also explains the need to fluff it up occasionally. The company also produces a more expensive pillow made of actual duck feathers. Somewhere a plucked Donald Duck is seething.

Also, if you don’t use my links and decide to Google it yourself, you’ll find it hard to find Harbor Linen. That’s because T-Y Group, Harbor Linen, and Riegel Linen merged to become a super-group for hotel and cruise bedding called 1 Concier. Therefore, you’ll know you have the right pillow if it says 1 Concier on it.

Here’s a link to the pillow if you want it. (This one is an affiliate link, so I may earn and use the commission to sleep better). It’s a third party link because 1 Concier apparently doesn’t sell retail. You can, however, request a sample. I assume this is for hotel managers, but who knows?

Final note about pillows, concierge guests have a pillow menu that allows you try out other pillows besides the Harbor Linen one. I searched for a while, but I could not find the manufacturer details on those. If you happen to know the info about a different choice of pillow, I would greatly appreciate you dropping it in the comment section.

Disney Cruise Linens- Frette Cruise Sheets

But maybe it wasn’t the mattress or the pillow, maybe it was the sheets that allowed me to have a problem-free philosophy while on the Disney Cruise. The sheets are made by Frette and are called, appropriately, cruise sheets.

They are 300 thread count sateen cotton. The sheet sets will run you the cost of another cruise. Here’s a link (not affiliate).

If you, like me, had an amazing time sleeping on your last cruise, here’s how to best create the experience and have a good night's sleep at home. Ever since I sailed on the Disney Wonder for my family's first Disney Cruise, I get excited about the sleep as much as anything.

However, these products do not come with the Oceaneer’s Club, The Small World Nursery , turndown service, stateroom host, towel animals, chocolate on your pillow, or a gently rocking boat. All of those things sold separately (or together on a Disney Cruise).

Want the Disney World mattress and pillows at home?

I spend 20% of my life in Disney hotel rooms and love the mattress and pillows so much that I tracked them down to have at home. 

Here’s where to find them…

Disney World hotel mattress

The mattress in many Disney World hotel rooms (and Disney Cruise Line beds) is from the Sealy Sayer collection which was discontinued in March 2021.

The new and improved version is the Dunmore collection. The mattress I have is called Sealy Posturepedic Dunmore Soft from ShopHBD.com . 

Not sure what current shipping times are but it took a couple of months to get in spring 2021. 

Disney World hotel pillows

This one was actually trickier and took a lot of trial and error. After seeing the name on the hotel pillows and ordering that style on Amazon, I got lots of pillows that weren’t the right one. 

The winner was the Hotel Sobella Soft Pillow from SobelaatHome.com . They only come in queen so I got 2 for each side of my king bed. 

They often show out of stock but are replenished often. I kept the tab open on my phone browser and just refreshed occasionally until it showed in stock. 

Sobela also has Disney resort-themed bedding coming out so be on the look out for that.

We recently purchased 2 twin xl Disney moderate plush mattresses through the Beautyrest guest products website. We’re extremely disappointed with what we received. One of the mattresses is absolutely perfect and what I expected. The other is hard as a rock and has zero give to it. I’d prefer to sleep on the floor. For a product that you can’t return I have to say buyer beware. We have confirmed that both mattresses are indeed the same product with the same labels but they are extremely inconsistent. Extremely disappointed after spending what we did.

Hi Everyone! Have stayed at the Disney's Old Key West Resort many times including this October. and feel in love with the mattress. I have neck issues and I was actually able to get many a good nights rest. I too looked at the mattress. I wrote down the information for the Sealy mattress. Started researching contacted Sealy and was given a 'Special Division number' For Sealy Contract Division Orders. In return they sent an Order form for step one . On top of the form it says 2019-2020 Disney Guest Purchase Form. The representative told me it takes 5 to 6 weeks due to the mattress and bx springs being a custom order. Seeing the mattress and box springs is made exclusively for Disney and Disney guest wanting to purchase. After 2 weeks I would receive a phone call from a Sealy representive to get a method of payment. I followed instructions and sent the order form in on the 29th of September 2023 completed. Then received a delivery form to complete and send. The confirmation e-mail form Sealy came, that they had received the order form. Followed by an e-mail saying form incomplete. Since then I have spoke to many Sealy Hospitality representatives, sent in several completed forms in 2 formats, and told many different thing. Mysteriously my information is never in the system and I question what is being told. Finally got a hold of a representative sending a SOS e-mail to the division requesting that they send an order number. Still nothing. Except the run around and silent treatment. Could y'all please help me find the right contact information to make my Disney mattress dreams come true also? Any suggestions and information would be greatly welcome.

The mattress tag does not specify a name of mattress. Only What the mattress is made of Reg. No. and finished size, PC#DT of MFG : 3301 01-31-18 W2 Pillow top and Euro style all for a King size.

@Bella, try googling and just buying it from one of the hotel distribution sites like Hotel Beds Direct. I found a few that sell the Dunmore, and the higher models up from that.

All other info I’ve seen online says that the mattresses are from the Beautyrest Guest Purchase website. Look for the Disney Pillow top for the ones in most deluxe resorts. It will have disney in the name of the mattress.

@KJ, it is a mix of mattresses being used. I just called (11/23) and they said they did not supply Riviera, but she did list off 17 other hotels this bed is used in. Disney online says Riviera is the Sealy.

Hi there! Thank you for doing all of this research. I had actually reached out on my own to Disney resorts and found out that the wonderful mattress we had while staying at Coronado Springs in Orlando was most probably the Sealy Sayor Proluxe. When I went to look at the Dunmore, which is the new version, I saw there are a couple of options. Do you have any idea what kind of foundation they use at Disney for the beds? Also, it is available as either a Soft Tight Top or Soft Euro Pillow Top comfort layer option. Which is most probably what they are using at Coronado Springs.? The Disney castmember who was helping me did not have the answer to these questions! Wondering how I could find out? I just want it to be exactly the same because we slept so well there, even after doing multiple days of 21,000 steps!

The Disney Dream primarily offers Bahamian cruises departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida .

However, the summer of 2024 holds something very unique in store for passengers on the Dream, as the ship is destined for Europe following a Transatlantic voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona ! Sailings over the summer include Mediterranean (including the Greek Isles), British Isles, Western Europe, and Norwegian Fjords (with one sailing including Iceland) cruises.

Unique Disney Cruise Line entertainment kicks things off RIGHT AWAY as your cruise starts with a Sailing Away Deck Party!

When I say “unique” that’s because the pals joining you in the entertainment throughout the voyage are none other than Disney characters!

Select sailings also present Disney Cruise Line’s famous Pirate Night (complete with FIREWORKS at sea!). And don’t forget: your CREW is invited to don all the Pirate-y garb you can pack in yer suitcase, matey!

When it comes to entertainment options, Disney Cruise Line is best known for its Broadway-style productions — presented in the Walt Disney Theatre — that tie in characters, beloved stories, and treasured music from the Disney films.

The three shows that guests can enjoy on the Disney Dream are Beauty and the Beast , The Golden Mickeys, and Disney’s Believe.

Currently exclusive to the Disney Dream, Beauty and the Beast brings the “Tale As Old As Time” to you live on stage!

In addition to seeing the characters and hearing the songs you already know and love from the animated film, this production also includes two new pieces written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice from the live-action film.

Disney Dream Water Features

Passengers of all ages can make a BIG SPLASH on Deck 11 (and even a bit higher…) of the Disney Dream! Let’s start with that part that’s “a bit higher…”

We’re talking about the Aqua Duck , the water coaster that made its debut on the Dream!

To ride, guests enter on Deck 12. From here? As the Disney Cruise Line website shares, you’ll take a 2-person raft on “a wet and wild journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—on a daredevil 4-deck drop.”

Be aware, though, that there is a height requirement of 42 inches or taller to ride (and single riders must be at least 54 inches).

Water areas for all ages include Donald’s Pool on Deck 11, as well as a wading pool on Deck 12.

Specifically for the kiddos is Mickey’s Pool , and Nemo’s Reef in particular is a splash area for those 8 and under.

Mickeys Slide , however, can be enjoyed by passengers ages 4 to 14.

The Quiet Cove Pool is reserved for guests over 18 years of age only, as is the Satellite Falls wading pool, complete with a cooling rain curtain. In the same area, adult guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Currents pool bar (the Waves bar is another option), or step inside the Cove Café for a specialty coffee.

Disney Dream Staterooms

The Disney Dream offers four categories of staterooms: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. Many of the rooms feature Disney’s innovative split bathroom which allows more guests in a cabin the chance to get ready at one time.

While each category boasts amenities such as premium mattresses and linens, a 22″ LCD flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and a surprising amount of storage space, there are many more details to explore among the varying categories, so we’ve dedicated a page to those options here .

As with all the other ships in the fleet, the Disney Dream presents a wide array of options, starting with a Disney Cruise Line signature: Rotational Dining!

Rotational Dining means that guests have the chance to enjoy dinner at ALL THREE of the ships main dining rooms, each with their own theme and specialty menus on select nights. The best part is that, as you move to a different restaurant each evening, so do your servers! They “rotate” right along with you so they can get to know your group’s dining preferences.

The three Rotational Dining restaurants on the Disney Dream are Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden , and Royal Palace.

Animator’s Palate is an innovative restaurant where the show is drawings coming to life on screens all around you. Undersea Magic immerses diners in the world of  Finding Nemo .

Dinner at the Royal Palace features French and continental cuisine in the opulence of the classic Disney fairytales Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

At Enchanted Garden, guests enjoy their meal as the restaurant changes as flowers bloom and the “sky” fades from day to night.

Be aware that Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden may also serve breakfast and lunch during a sailing, offering guests a full service option if they prefer not to dine buffet or quick service style.

A number of options are available throughout the day, as well. Cabanas hosts a massive buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Help yourself!

Also on Deck 11, several Quick Service options serve classics like burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries, pizza, and healthier fare like salads and sandwiches. These are all available at Flo’s Cafe , which is divided into three different stations: Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow up any and all of that with some soft-serve ice cream at Eye Scream Treats!

Additional treats — including scoops from a Gelato Bar —  are available for extra purchase at Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , a charming spot themed to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph .

And did you know that ROOM SERVICE is available for breakfast or snacks 24 HOURS A DAY??  The vast majority of items are INCLUDED in the cruise price!

Disney Dream Adult Spaces

In addition to the Quiet Cove mentioned earlier, the Disney Dream offers more areas reserved just for grown-ups. These include the fine dining restaurant, Palo , which may be booked for dinner for an additional charge per adult.

Additionally, the famous Palo Brunch is available for booking during sea days! This option is incredibly popular, so advance booking through your Disney Cruise Line account is recommended.

Be aware, as well, that Palo does have a dress code. The Disney Cruise Line website states: “Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. The Senses Spa & Salon offers a wide array of services and treatments. (And the Rainforest Room provides an especially relaxing oasis!) And the Fitness Center offers workout machines and classes.

And though this is not limited to adults, keep in mind that if you’d like to get a jog or two in, Deck 4 hosts a walking track!

Disney Dream Kids Clubs and Experiences

But what about the kids? Oh, don’t you worry… there are specific areas on the ship dedicated to children, offering experiences tailored for ages from infants to teens!

The It’s a Small World Nursery is available for ages 6 months to 3 years old (save for the Transatlantic cruise, during which the nursery welcomes ages 1 to 3 years old).

Be aware that the Disney Cruise Line website states that “Reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house on Embarkation Day or anytime throughout your cruise. Childcare at “it’s a small world” nursery! is available at an additional fee.” Disney also emphasizes that space is limited.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Oceaneer Club AND Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are available for children ages 3 to 10. The Oceaneer Lab specializes in learning while having FUN!

The Oceaneer Club features activities such as character experiences, storytime, and play areas. (There are also specific guided activities for the littlest ones, ages 3 and 4.)

On the Dream, the Oceaneer Club features the following playful spaces: Andy’s Room (that’s Andy from Toy Story ), the Disney Infinity Game Room, Pixie Hollow , and Star Wars : Millennium Falcon.

Keep in mind that Youth Activities counselors are present at all times in these spaces. Parents will want to know that spaces for your child can be pre-registered via your Disney Cruise Line account, and registration may also take place onboard the ship.

Tweens (ages 11 to 14) can gather at the Edge to hang out, watch movies, play games and make friends during group activities with fun Disney counselors and more. And you want to know something really cool? Edge is located in the ship’s Forward Funnel on Deck 13!

Vibe offers cruisers ages 14 to 17 similar activities geared to their age group, or simply a place to chill. It even boasts its own sun deck on the Dream.

We’ve got one more thing to mention, though it’s not a club, per se. For an extra fee, your little Prince or Princess age 3 to 12 can get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique .

Disney Princess, knight, and sea captain-themed packages are available… and there’s an exclusive makeover for Pirate Party Nights!

But we’re STILL not done… because children ages 3-12 can partake in a special tea party with Disney characters. Children get gifts including a jewelry box, tiara, bracelet, necklace, a Cinderella doll, and autograph book. Alternatively they can opt for a package including a cinch bag, sword, shield, pins, Duffy plush, and autograph book. The Disney Cruise Line site will have pricing information available when you book via your Disney Cruise Line account in advance.

Disney Dream Activities

Still want MORE to do 😉 ? That’s good, because the Disney Dream has GOT MORE! D Lounge, for example, is the place to be for family fun with events like game shows and trivia, dance parties,  and more.

Catch a movie on the big screen at the Buena Vista Theatre ! You might choose to watch a Disney animated classic, or maybe a Star Wars or Marvel flick. You never know… your sailing just might feature a first-run Disney feature film at sea! “Funnel Vision” on the pool deck shows movies on the big screen, too.

You can find basketball courts and ping-pong tables on Goofy’s Sports Deck. (My personal favorite option here? It’s 9-hole MINI GOLF!)

Want to explore all sorts of areas on the ship while SOLVING A MYSTERY, to boot? Then get ready to play Midship Detective Agency.  You and your fellow detectives will interact with “enchanted art” in locations all over the ship to gather clues and crack a case wide open! In fact, there are 3 cases to solve (including, but not limited to a MUPPETS-themed caper), so you can play several times — on your own or with your crew — if you like!

And let’s not forget that throughout your cruise, you can meet, hug, get autographs from and pose for pictures with your favorite DISNEY PALS!

Disney Cruise Line Bedding

If you have ever been on a Disney Cruise, more than likely you have experienced one of the best night's sleep you have ever had. Between the darkness of the room, the ship lightly rocking you to sleep and the amazing bedding it is hard to not sleep like a baby.

On our last cruise I decided that while I cannot duplicate the ship rocking me to sleep at home, I could find the bedding.

On this particular cruise we were sailing on the Disney Wish and in a concierge level room. What that means for the bedding is the sheets should be the same across the ship in all level rooms, however in concierge the rooms have plush feather duvets and a pillow menu. Never heard of a pillow menu? Your stateroom hostess will offer a variety of pillows for side sleepers, memory form, snoring, and even silk pillow cases.

A little back story, my husband has been on a quest for the perfect pillow for years, while I prefer soft, "squishy" pillows, but I can sleep on anything, anywhere. (P.S. This trait of mine irritates him, but I think he's just jealous). When he was given the side sleeper pillow, he was in love and had found his holy grail pillow. I inquired if the bedding or pillows were available for sale and was told that they are not. However, we would simply see charges added to our room for any linens or pillows if we chose to take them. Glad I did some checking online, because that is not an inexpensive option!

The sheet sets and duvet cover are made by the company Frette and are 1000 count Egyptian cotton. (I will let you click the link and pass out from sticker shock). The pillows have different manufactures, but the side sleeper is the Honeywell Scrumptious Side Sleeper Pillow . The regular pillows that are in all rooms are, Harbor Linen New Generation . The mattresses are provided by Biscayne Bedding International and is the Diamond Eurotop model. You cannot purchase directly from Biscayne Bedding, but they will send a list of resellers, some will even ship.

I am still looking into purchasing the mattress, but the sheets were out of the question. I discovered the pillows on Amazon and started a search for similar sheets and a duvet. After searching and reading reviews I settled on a sheet set and duvet cover that were 1000 count Egyptian Cotton. I also added a light warmth duvet to my cart. All of the bedding, pillows included, were much more affordable than the original.

Once the order arrived I started the task of washing everything per the instructions and made our bed. Personally, I cannot tell the difference in the sheets on the ship vs my Amazon finds and I am now one happy sleeper!

H by Frette is the new hotel bedding sheet set offered by Frette and they confirmed this is what is on the Disney Wish beds. I bought them and after 5-6 washings, I’m obsessed. The sateen sheets are what you want and remember to wash several times to soften them up. Hbyfrette.com

About 10,000 workers at the agriculture equipment maker Deere & Company will go back to work after the approval of a contract on Wednesday, bringing to an end a five-week strike that affected 14 facilities primarily in Iowa and Illinois.

The six-year contract was ratified, 61 percent to 39 percent , after workers voted down two earlier agreements between the United Automobile Workers and the company, which is known for its distinctive green-and-yellow John Deere products. The new contract raises wages and includes language that makes the companys performance pay more generous.

Our members courageous willingness to strike in order to attain a better standard of living and a more secure retirement resulted in a groundbreaking contract and sets a new standard for workers not only within the U.A.W. but throughout the country, Chuck Browning, the director of the unions agricultural equipment department, said in a statement.

John C. May, Deeres chairman and chief executive, said in a statement: Im pleased our highly skilled employees are back to work building and supporting the industry-leading products which make our customers more profitable and sustainable.

Under the agreement, workers can earn 20 percent beyond their base pay when they hit productivity targets, rather than 15 percent, according to a union spokesman.

Disney Cruise Line Fleet

While it may be a household name, Disney Cruise Line is actually a very small line. It currently has just four ships actively in the fleet, compared to 26 over at Royal Caribbean .

Out of the four, there are two smaller ships and two larger ones.

The largest two ships in Disneys fleet are the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, at 1,115 feet in length and 14 decks high. These two ships have a passenger capacity of 4,000 people spread out across 1,250 staterooms. The overwhelming majority of cabins on these ships have an ocean view or verandah with only 12% being interior staterooms .

The Dream is a workhorse of short three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral , Florida, to the Bahamas, home to Disneys private island, Castaway Cay. The Fantasy also normally calls Port Canaveral home but does various longer Caribbean sailings.

The smaller two ships in the Disney Cruise Line lineup are the Disney Wonder and the original ship in the fleet, the Disney Magic. These two ships are 984 feet long and 11 decks high, and each has the capacity for 2,713 passengers across 875 staterooms. On these two smaller ships, 70% of passenger cabins have ocean views or verandahs.

Disneys Wonder and Magic usually get around a bit more than the larger two ships. Depending on the time of year, you might find the Wonder sailing out of places such as Galveston, Texas New Orleans California or Alaska . The Magic can often be found in Miami, New York, Canada and Europe.

Transportation And Parking At The Cruise Ports

Disneys bus transfers to and from the port are convenient, but also pretty expensive, especially for a family:

Disneys transfers must be booked a minimum of 3 days before the start of the trip through your travel agent . At the airports, a Disney rep will be at the baggage claim area to help direct guests to the bus. Your luggage will go directly to your stateroom you just need take your day bag with you to the cruise terminal.

It’s offered on most cruise itineraries but there is a catch: while tickets are free, they are required to attend. “Complimentary tickets to the Royal Gathering are available to be booked online or through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app or Disneycruise.com 30 days before your sail date,” Hwang adds. “Take this experience to the next level for your little one by reserving a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover an hour or two before the Royal Gathering begins.” 

And know that the most memorable character experiences won’t be at meet-and-greets.

The lines to meet Mickey and Minnie are (amazingly!) short on Disney Cruise Line, but favorites like Daisy Duck are known to freely wander the pool and jogging track decks, playfully surprising guests and often sharing elevator rides for a once-in-a-lifetime interaction. Don't miss the character dance parties either, which allow kids and adults to line dance with Goofy and shake it off with Donald Duck for an experience that goes beyond a hug and photograph.

Order whatever you’d like to eat — and as much as you’d like. 

Disney Cruise Line’s dinnertime meal service operates on a rotating restaurant schedule, so you'll get to enjoy each restaurant the ship offers — and some more than once on longer sailings. These highly themed restaurants, like Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish , offer pre-fixe dinner menus. Torn between two entrees? Order them both. These upgraded dining experiences are known to book up well in advance, but there is occasionally a waitlist available for canceled and missed reservations. “If you can't snag a reservation before the cruise, inquire in person on the day you embark,” Hwang adds. “Look for the activity listed as ‘Dining Reservation Changes’ to speak with a crew member about reservation availability.” 

Request the best seat in the house at dinner. 

Always dreamed of sitting by the stage at Tiana's Place on the Disney Wonder or enjoying dinner in those gorgeous Enchanted Garden booths on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ? Well, it's not entirely luck of the draw. Nothing is guaranteed, but requests for a certain table can always be added to your Disney Cruise Line reservation, and they are worth the extra phone call. Concierge guests can make seating requests to their Concierge Service Specialist before boarding as well. You never know when Disney will sprinkle a little extra magic onto your vacation.

And don’t miss the best dinner entertainment.

The dinner show at Animator's Palate is a highlight if you’re sailing on the Magic, Wonder, Dream, or Fantasy, but it's the second visit to that dining room that can't be skipped. It's called Animation Magic, and guests get to draw their own characters and see them come to life on the screens mid-meal. The incredible display is only offered on longer sailings on the Disney Magic and Disney Fantasy, so make sure you don’t skip it. Even better? Request that your rotation allows two visits to Animator's Palate that don't overlap with Pirate Night to ensure you enjoy the show.

Soda is included during sit-down meals, but if you’re craving a thirst quencher outside of those times, go to the free-flowing beverage stations near the pools on each Disney ship.

There are plenty of themed watering holes in the adults-only areas of the ships, but on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , Meridian is the place to be. The upscale bar and lounge is located next door to Palo and Remy, but it is open to all adults adhering to its business casual dress code. Though known for its martinis, Meridian also offers a cigar bar, custom craft cocktails, and a gin and tonic cart, as well as a private deck hosting a picture-perfect view of nightly sunsets.

It’s a multi-sensory experience in this immersive, interactive venue, and you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled in case anyone orders the $5,000 Kaiburr Crystal cocktail.  

Save on drinks during happy hour at sea. 

Be sure to check the Navigator app for daily happy hours at different bars and lounges. The exact offers vary, but they can include deals like half-off draft beer and discounts on specialty cocktails. And if you’re looking to take your cocktail knowledge to the next level, cruises also offer add-on mixology classes and tasting experiences.

Once a bottle of wine is opened, Disney must serve it (in its entirety) that day. Its liquor selection is extensive and surprising with rare and vintage pours.

It may be tempting to disembark and explore Jamaica or relax on Castaway Cay, but if you stay behind, you can enjoy fewer crowds at the pools. This could be your prime chance to experience the AquaMouse water coaster, the cruise line’s first attraction at sea on the Disney Wish , with little to no line.

There are also lots of activities to take advantage of on board. “I must say I'm a huge fan of staying on board even on port days to explore the array of classes, Broadway-caliber shows, and, of course, the games,” adds Peggs. “If you're looking for family-friendly options, a couple of my favorites are Bingo, which they have every day during your sailing, napkin and towel folding, bar trivia, and so much more!”

Don’t miss the musicals.

While it may be tempting to take advantage of quieter swim times in the evening, you won’t want to miss your ship’s musical offerings. Broadway-quality productions including “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” (exact offerings depend on the ship) are a must-see. “These are beautifully done and are wonderful for the entire family,” Peggs adds. “Plus, if you purchase a popcorn bucket at the beginning of the cruise, you will be able to enjoy $1.50 refills for the remainder of your cruise!”

There’s an under-the-radar design tour.

Adults 18 and up can enjoy one of the cruise line’s best walking tours. “The Art of The Theme Show Tour gives adults an insightful look into the detailed and thoughtful design of several spaces throughout the ship,” adds Hwang. “It's usually offered in the mornings and provides some fun trivia to share with anyone in your party.” 

Unwind at the spa.

You’re on vacation — it’s time to pamper yourself in the state-of-the-art spa. “If you are interested in booking a spa treatment, attend the open house before the ship sets sail,” Peggs shares. “You might get lucky and win a voucher for 10% off or possibly a facial or massage during the raffle. Speaking of savings, the more spa services you get while on board, the better the price will be. If you want to secure a spa day/week pass, be sure to book them sooner rather than later as they sell out pretty quickly!”

There’s a totally free fan-favorite activity.

If your itinerary takes you to Disney’s Castaway Cay, then you can partake in one of Disney Cruise Line’s most beloved activities, the Castaway Cay 5k — and it’s completely free to all guests. Suitable for runners and walkers alike, this on-your-own race invites you to discover Disney’s private island from a different vantage point as you travel through its stunning tropical paths. All participants receive an exclusive medal when they finish.

There’s nothing worse than feeling sick on vacation. But have no fear, the mouse is here to help. Each ship is equipped with on-site medical help, and if you experience seasickness, complimentary medicine is available.

Grab every photo before the clock runs out.

Even if you skipped every character meet-and-greet, you'll still be able to cram in a week's worth of photos at "Til' We Meet Again," the goodbye show on the final night of each sailing. After a short heartwarming performance, loads of Disney characters, princesses, and theater performers will disperse throughout the crowd, posing for photos on a first-come, first-served basis. The onboard photographers will have already shut down, so you can snap as many iPhone pictures as you'd like, making for a full album in one fell swoop. This experience only lasts for around 20 minutes; you can find the exact time in the Navigator app.

Are you wondering what your stateroom will be like on your Disney cruise ?  What does it have, what does it not have?  I am here to help!  Here’s 10 things you may want to know.

3. Bathrooms – Maybe even more important than beds! And I have more good news. The bathrooms are great! They’re small (small rooms remember), but they’re great. On all ships, with the exception of accessible staterooms and category 8A’s on the Dream and Fantasy, everything in categories 4- 10 have split bathrooms. Split bathrooms are genius! A split bathroom means there essentially two bathrooms which is so helpful with multiple people getting ready. One has a sink and toilet, and the other has a sink and tub/shower. You heard me bath loving people, Disney has a tub in their bathrooms. On most other lines, you’ll have to get to the suites before a tub is an option. In categories 8D, 8C, 8B, 4 and V on the Dream and Fantasy, there are actually round tubs! With rainfall shower heads! The V on the Magic and Wonder, and R, S and T on all ships have a whole ‘nother level of bathrooms and tubs. The tub in the 1-bedroom suites on the Dream and Fantasy is more like a small pool.

5. Storage – For a small room, it’s surprising how much storage there is! As I mentioned above, there is a lot of space under the bed for suitcases. Then there are two closets with some built in shelves, and a set of drawers and a shelf next to the closet. There are small end table type shelves with small drawers next to the bed. There’s also some space under the desk, as well as steamer trunks in some rooms on the Wonder (though these seem to be disappearing) and a nice dresser where steamer trunks used to be in some rooms. The Dream and Fantasy also have coffee tables that open up for even more storage! And finally there’s a desk with drawers and some cabinets over that. As with some of the other items, concierge rooms have even more storage space than normal rooms.

7. Desk – You’d probably like to know what is in your desk too! There are actually some handy things. There are hair dryers in the drawers so you don’t have to bring your own! For anyone that hates the vacuum cleaner type hairdryers in the bathrooms on the Magic and Wonder, they now also have hairdryers in the desk. In one of the drawers you’ll also find stationary, postcards, a pen, and room service menus. The room service menu is hidden rather well inside the large Disney Cruise Line book. The room service menu for breakfast foods is also in the drawer, but it’s printed on some paper door hangers. If you would like room service breakfast any night but the last night, you use this order form and hang it outside your door the night before. On top of the desk you will also find your Wave Phones if you use them. Underneath one side of the desk you will also find a small refrigerator.

9. Television – There are nice televisions in all the rooms, on all the ships. Some of the concierge rooms have three! They are all similar, but they are different based on which ship you are on. On the Magic and Wonder there are several channels, a few of which have Disney movies and new(ish) releases playing all day long. There’s also a view from the bridge, and an information channel showing where you’ve been, where you’re going, what’s the weather, etc. You’ll also find some popular network channels like ESPN, CNN, the Disney Channel and ABC when they are available. On the Dream and Fantasy, the TV’s have more features added, like an excellent selection of On-Demand Movies. There’s a channel with just about every Disney or Pixar animated movie ever made, a channel with new releases (I may or may not have watched Jurassic World through about 6 times in October onboard the Dream) and a channel of classics. The beauty of On Demand is that you can start and stop the movies every time you’re in the room. I don’t think we’re doing it right if we don’t have a Disney movie (Jurassic World totally counted) playing at all times when we are in our room and awake. You can also view your bill on your TV on the Dream and Fantasy, although it’s glitchy at times.

Hi I’m taking my adult autistic daughter on a Disney Cruise soon and wondering what kind of room is the accessibility room

Accessible rooms are booked on the Disney Fantasy cruise we want to go on to celebrate a big 50th anniversary with grandchildren, etc. Are there any grab bars in the bathrooms? Especially the shower/ tubs? Do the tubs have a side on them big enough to sit then swivel into the tub? Is there a lip on the entrance to the bathroom someone could trip on? Thanks for the help.

That’s a wonderful celebration, congratulations! We did the same with my parents on the Fantasy. There are not any grab bars in the standard rooms. The side on the tub is fairly standard size, so not very big. The sides of the tubs in the staterooms with a round tub is a little wider! That would be easier to get in, but it’s not a huge side. There is a lip to get into the bathroom that you could trip on if you weren’t expecting it. One bedrooms have a huge tub with no lip to get into the bathroom if that was doable for you!

What are the dimensions of the shower/bath? We are a tall (6’4) family of 3 and my spouse has a very large shoulder width. This is our first cruise and we are thinking about a room with verandah for the extra square footage.

I don’t know the exact dimensions, but they are not huge. Having said that, they are bigger than any other standard shower on any other cruise line I’ve been on. The shower width would be big enough for most people!

A category 4D and up would give you a round tub. It’s not a huge tub, but it would give you much more shoulder room for the shower!

What is the length of the sofa bed (ie: how tall can someone be before hitting their head on the arm)?

They are fairly close to standard twin size mattress length! The couch arms would be at either end making it feel a little smaller.

Actually, my growing teenager stretched out, and slept on it without any problems…I’m thinking it may even be an extra long twin?

We are sailing on the Dream in June and have a Category 5a stateroom. No coffee maker in the stateroom, right? What is the best way to get my early morning caffeine?

That is correct, Julie, no coffee makers. Order it from room service! You could order it the night before (most people report it stays hot in the carafe they deliver it in), or have it delivered the next morning. Order it the night before with the breakfast cards in the drawer. You can pick a time (within 30 minutes) you would like it delivered. If you would like specialty coffees, you could also venture up on deck to the Cove Cafe, but that will cost a little bit.

Category 11 inside standard staterooms do NOT have a split bathroom.

I always find there are a lack of shelves. I bring a folding set of shoe shelves that I can hang in the closet. And a pop up laundry basket is really helpful for keeping your room tidy.

I heard that on some cruise lines you can request mattress toppers for the beds and different types of pillows, ie down/feather, memory foam etc. Does DCL do this?

They do not offer mattress toppers, even in Concierge. Here’s a link to the Concierge pillow menu. https://disneycruiselineblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/DCL-Fantasy-Pillow-Menu.pdf It seems you can sometimes request a special pillow in a regular stateroom, but I’ve never done it.  

It could end up curdled

Several years ago our stateroom host on the Wonder thought I looked tired (thanks?) and offered to bring me an egg-crate mattress topper. Maybe he thought the mattress was older than the other beds he took care of? Anyway, a mattress topper isn't totally outside the realm of possibility. That said, the DCL mattresses we had since then have been very comfortable.

2 years ago I had a memory foam pillow delivered to my stateroom after I asked if there were any firmer pillows. I don't normally have any problems with the pillows and on over 15 cruises have never asked but those ones were just uncomfortable that time.

Disney cruise Line has the most comfortable beds ever! Trust me, you won’t need a topper. The beds are part of the reason we stick with DCL. I’m super picky about beds, mattress stores hate me here in town. Lol The pillows are quite nice as well.

Thanks for all the information! I am terribly spoiled at home with a memory foam topper on my bed and down pillows. On our previous cruises, we've had a hard time sleeping because the mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable, but it's been several years, so maybe they are better now. It sounds like they've improved!
