England in australia: the ashes, 2025-26.

It’s the big one. England visit Australia seeking to regain the urn. And, after an eight-year wait (thanks, Covid!) England fans can be there.

After a 2-2 series draw in England in 2023, Australia have now had their hands on the Ashes since 2018, and Ben Stokes’s cavalier side face a tremendous test if they are to buck the recent trend.

The Ashes offers two months of headline sporting drama, set across five characterful Australian cities: Brisbane , Adelaide , Perth , Melbourne and Sydney .

While the precise dates for the games are yet to be released, the venues are well known.

  • The Gabba in Brisbane, a fortress that has witnessed countless epic battles.
  • Adelaide Oval, known for its picturesque setting and electric atmosphere.
  • Perth Stadium, a modern marvel, though we’ll miss the charm of the WACA.
  • Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the coliseum of cricket, steeped in history.
  • Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), where many a tale of Ashes heroics has been scripted.

International Cricket Tours offer a meticulously crafted itinerary to ensure you soak in everything that makes Australia Australian. From sun-kissed beaches to rugged outback, bustling cities to serene vineyards, we’ve got it all covered. And if you’re keen on extending your stay or making a pitstop en-route, just give us a nod. We’re here to tailor-make your dream Ashes experience.

With our cricket touring experts at the helm, you’re not just signing up for matches; you’re enrolling for an experience. From the first ball bowled to the last sightseeing expedition, we promise a journey that’s as exhilarating off the field as on it.

Register your interest in our exclusive Ashes package today, and be a part of cricketing history.

This will be the first Ashes tour open to visiting fans for eight years, and we have no doubt it will be in high demand. Plan early to avoid disappointment.

Full Ashes fixtures with Aussie start times as ‘enormous’ quest for 22-year first nears

There’s nothing quite like the Ashes.

Shane Warne’s Ball of the Century, Mitchell Johnson’s Adelaide demolition, Ben Stokes’ Headingley miracle — we remember the modern greats primarily for what they achieved while fighting for the urn.

Australia returns to England this winter for the 73rd instalment of the Ashes, four years after their previous visit ended as a 2-2 stalemate. Tim Paine’s side retained the urn, but couldn’t secure Australia’s first Test triumph on English soil since 2001.

Cameron Green was a two-year-old when Australia last won an Ashes series in England, a feat no member of the current touring party has achieved.

Winning in the United Kingdom is not easy — England has only lost one Test series at home in the last nine years, while Ben Stokes’ side has been rejuvenated since Brendon McCullum was appointed as head coach last year.

“Every time post-Ashes it writes a new story within the cricketing landscape,” Australian coach Andrew McDonald told SEN on Wednesday.

“It’s etched in everything we do as Australians. Everyone looks forward to this clash.

“It brings out the best in the two countries, and no matter where the teams are positioned or how they’re travelling, it’s always a contest.

“The enormity of the task is real. They’re tough to beat over there, no matter what team they put out.

“We’re going to be really challenged, and we look forward to that challenge.”

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the 2023 series.

Australia v England 2022, ODI Schedule: Full Fixtures List For AUS vs ENG

Australia will host England for a three-match ODI series in November 2022, following the conclusion of the 2022 T20 World Cup – here is the schedule and match timings for all three matches in the series.

Following their disappointing T20 World Cup title defence on home-soil, Australia will be looking to regroup for the upcoming ODI series under new captain, Pat Cummins. Aaron Finch stepped down as Australia’s captain in the format to give a new leader time to establish their side ahead of next year’s World Cup. The now multi-format captain edged out Alex Carey and David Warner to take the role.

For his first series in charge, Australia have named a full-strength squad. Travis Head has been included to fill the batting gap Finch’s retirement created, along with usual suspects Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Marcus Stoinis. Their other two premier quick bowlers, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have also been included.

England have retained Jason Roy for the tour, despite his omission from their T20 World Cup campaign, and James Vince makes a return to the squad in the absence of the injured Jonny Bairstow. Those who will be playing in England’s Test match tour of Pakistan in December have not been selected, including Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Joe Root.

The two sides last played each other in September 2020 in a three match series played entirely at Old Trafford, which Australia won 2-1. England are currently at the top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings with Australia sitting in fifth.

Ashes 2023: Fixtures, dates and venues confirmed for England v Australia series

Ben Stokes during play for England vs South Africa

The fixtures have been announced for the England men and women’s home Ashes series in 2023.

Both the men’s and women’s series will take place at the same time, promising a blockbuster summer for England cricket fans.

England men’s team have been in imperious form under their new captain and coach double act, with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum deploying a new brand of cricket which has seen the team win all but one of their matches since they took charge.

The team will be looking to avenge the Ashes humiliation they suffered at the hands of the old enemy last winter, where England endured one collapse after another to lose 4-0 Down Under.

The only warm-up match ahead of the series with Australia will be against Ireland at Lord’s between June 1-4.

The Ashes then get underway on June 16 at Edgbaston, before the two teams head south for the traditional second Test at Lord’s.

The third and fourth Tests will be held at Headingley and Old Trafford respectively, with the series wrapping up with the fifth and final Test at The Oval on July 27.

This will be the first home men’s Ashes series in England not to feature a Test match in August, going back to the first ever series in 1884.

This is because the ECB wants to keep The Hundred in the August slot.

England men's Ashes fixtures 2023

First Test: England vs Australia (June 16-20, Edgbaston)

Second Test: England vs Australia (June 28-July 2, Lord’s)

Third Test: England vs Australia (July 6-10, Headingley)

Fourth Test: England vs Australia (July 19-23, Old Trafford)

Fifth test: England vs Australia (July 27-31, The Oval)

(Odds courtesy of Betway )

Meanwhile, the women’s multi-format Ashes will feature one Test match at Trent Bridge between June 22-26, followed by three T20s and three ODIs in July.

In the women’s series, a victory in the Test is worth four points, while the three ODIs and three T20s are worth two points for the winner in each.

The Test will be England women’s first trip to Trent Bridge since 2000, and Edgbaston, Lord’s and the Oval will all host their first T20 matches in women’s Ashes history.

Australian women made it an Aussie Ashes double in 2022, beating Heather Knight’s team 12-4 overall.

T20 World Cup 2024: fixtures, schedule, groups, results and more – a complete guide

T he 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup – formerly, simply the World T20 – is the ninth edition of the tournament in only 17 years and the biggest ever with 20 teams taking part. It is taking place jointly in the Caribbean, for the second time, and the United States which is hosting its first matches in either limited-overs World Cups.

England are defending champions and seeking a third title which would push them ahead of West Indies as the most successful side in T20 World Cup history. England won their first global tournament the last time it was staged in the Caribbean.

Having beaten Pakistan in the final at the MCG two years ago to make themselves double reigning World Cup holders, England’s woeful campaign in the 50-over tournament held in India last autumn has left them merely as solo world champions and engaged in a revamp of their white-ball side under the head coach, Matthew Mott, and captain, Jos Buttler.

They have, however, just thumped Pakistan twice in a warm-up series. In the Telegraph Sport report of Thursday’s match at The Oval , Tim Wigmore suggested that Buttler’s team have their swagger back. Liam Livingstone, who is recovering from a knee injury, certainly thinks so.

When is the T20 World Cup?

The tournament began on June 2, 2024 and ends with its 55th and last match 28 days later on June 29, 2024.

Where does it take place?

The tournament is shared for the second time (after UAE and Oman stepped in to co-host it during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021), this time by the Caribbean and the US after Cricket West Indies and USA Cricket were successful with a joint bid. The ICC has long identified the US as a prime growth area for the game and was delighted the two boards worked in partnership to secure the hosting rights.

Indeed Paraag Marathe, chair of USA Cricket and Leeds United, said in 2021 when they were named joint-hosts: “The ICC has identified the USA as a strategic market for growth that will benefit cricket around the world. A major event in 2024 will be the critical catalyst to improve facilities, develop a professional league, grow the fanbase and inspire public and corporate support … leaving a legacy of facilities and public enthusiasm for the sport across America ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.”

How to watch the T20 World Cup on TV

Like all ICC tournaments during the current rights cycle, in the UK and Ireland the 2024 T20 World Cup will be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports. Should England reach the final, as they did in 2022 and the 2019 World Cup, Sky may be persuaded to allow that match to be broadcast live on Channel 4.

The BBC has won the auction for radio rights for ICC tournaments for the next four years, announcing their victory over TalkSport on May 9. Test Match Special, therefore, will broadcast the tournament with their usual ball-by-ball coverage of the fixtures.

In India the tournament will be streamed free on Hotstar.

What is the latest England news?

Liam Livingstone believes that an injection will help him play a leading role in England’s Twenty20 World Cup defence after the pain in his knee became “too much” over the past two years

Livingstone, the England allrounder, had an injection in his kneecap earlier this month, after returning from the Indian Premier League.

“I had an injection that has gone really well,” Livingstone said ahead of England’s first T20 World Cup game, against Scotland on Tuesday. “It’s not been the most enjoyable 18 months of trying to play with a niggle. It kind of drains your spirit, drains your enjoyment of cricket.

“I was in a pretty crap place, shall we say, at the end of the IPL. It was kind of getting too much. Thankfully, the injection seems to have worked and just being able to play cricket pain-free for the first time in two years is the exciting part for me.”

Livingstone is confident that England will mount a far better defence of their World Cup trophy than during last year’s ODI World Cup, when they won just three games out of nine.

“We’ve had better discussions,” Livingstone said. “We’ve played better cricket on the pitch leading into it, and I think that’s all you can ask for. You never know how a World Cup’s going to go. Knockout cricket’s very different to series cricket.

“I feel like we’re in a really good place. Anything can happen in World Cups, but I feel like we’re going there with a lot of confidence. I think a lot of boys have come off the back of a really good IPL, which has put people in a really good place. I think everybody else has fed off that.”

While Livingstone is used to batting high up the order in franchise cricket, he is inked in to bat at No 7 in England’s line-up. He faced just three deliveries in the series, scoring two not out at Edgbaston, but made a fine contribution with his array of off spin and leg spin, taking three for 26 from four overs across the two games. Livingstone admitted that he has to readjust to facing fewer deliveries when batting for England.

“I guess that’s one of my challenges, trying to find my rhythm away from game time,” the 31-year-old said. “It’s a different role for me. I’ve always batted No. 3, 4, 5, and even at the top of the order when I first came through. It’s different. But you’ve got to manage your expectations and realise that actually, when the time comes, I’m going to get an opportunity at some time, at some point, to win a game of cricket for England. Hopefully when that time comes, I’m ready to take it.”

When do England play next at T20 World Cup 2024? Fixtures, results and squad

England are aiming to defend their T20 World Cup title – when do they play next?

England begin their T20 World Cup title defence on Tuesday 4th June in what is expected to be a party atmosphere at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

England won the previous T20 World Cup in 2022, beating Pakistan by five wickets in Melbourne.

However, since then, they have experienced middling T20 results, winning just seven of the 14 matches they’ve played and taking home just one of the four series they’ve competed in.

What’s more, this is a group low on confidence after suffering a tortuous ODI Cricket World Cup at the back end of last year.

England were defending World Champions going into that competition as well, but ended up failing to qualify from the group stage after winning just three of their nine matches.

Thousands of England fans are expected to descend on the Caribbean for the competition for a blend of the beach, cricket and cocktails.

The first two of England’s matches in the World Cup take place in Barbados, where they play Scotland and then Australia, before their tournament moves on to Antigua & Barbuda, where they play Oman and Namibia to complete their group stage.

England should qualify for the Super 8s comfortably, but after their experience in India it’s impossible to rule anything out.

RadioTimes.com has rounded up everything you need to know about England's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign including next match, fixtures, results and squad.

When do England play next at T20 World Cup 2024?

England will play Scotland on Tuesday 4th June at 3:30pm UK time in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.

England remain strong contenders to go all the way in the Caribbean, boasting an exceptionally strong batting line-up consisting of Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook, as well as lightning-quick bowlers in Mark Wood and Jofra Archer.

To top it off, they can also count on the wrist-spin of Adil Rashid, who has been a world-class performer for close to a decade now.

The return of Archer is a particular boost, with the quick bowler having had severe injury problems over the past few years. His appearance against Pakistan in the week leading up to the World Cup was his first match of professional cricket in 385 days.

The opening game against Scotland will be an emotional affair for Archer, who grew up in Barbados and will have many of his friends and family at the ground cheering him on.

And he won’t be the only England player who will be performing with home comforts around him, with both Chris Jordan and Phil Salt having also grown up in the area.
