Ordering or Making Copies at the Nixon Library

There are two ways to obtain reproductions of the textual and audiovisual materials in our holdings – make your own copies or order copies.

A self-service, black-and-white photocopier is available in our Research Room.  The reproduction fee for self-service copies is set by the National Archives and Records Administration. Currently, the cost is $0.25 per page.

For more information about the National Archives Reproduction fee schedule, click HERE.

  • Identify the Materials you want to order.
  • Fill out a Reproduction Request Form.

Reproduction Request Forms  – the forms and the method for ordering vary according to the requested media.

  • All publicly released Nixon White House Tapes are available for reproduction. If you are interested in having copies made, please contact us by emailing  [email protected]  or calling 714-983-9320.
  • All publicly released materials are available for reproduction. If you are interested in having copies made for you, please download and fill out the  AV Reproduction Packet , or contact us by emailing  [email protected]  or calling 714-983-9320.

The archives staff is available to provide reproductions of specified materials at the reproduction fee set by the National Archives and Records Administration. Currently, the cost for reproductions is $0.80 per page with a minimum order of $20.00.

A fifty percent (50%) deposit may be required for large orders of 100 or more pages. Payment for orders is made through Pay.gov, the federal government's online payment system.

All reproductions are provided as scanned digital image files. Hard copies can be provided upon request and shipping arrangements (UPS) can be made at the researcher’s expense.

The Nixon Library archive staff cannot undertake extensive searches or make subjective judgments of the materials. The entire content of a folder will be copied.

  • Identify which folder(s) you want to order.
  • Contact the archive staff to place an order by emailing  [email protected]  or calling 714-983-9320.

Find out how to copy, order and view the documents held by The National Archives and how to access popular records online.

Every document held by The National Archives has a unique reference code made up of department, series and piece, and sometimes item. The documents themselves may be a single sheet, a large file, a box containing a bundle of papers or letters, a roll of parchment, or even an online record. Once you have found the reference code for the document you want to look at in the catalogue, you can request the document. There are several ways to view documents. You can view or copy original documents yourself in our reading rooms at The National Archives. However, many popular documents have been scanned, digitised and indexed. These are available for viewing, printing and downloading through our website, or in conjunction with commercial partners. There is usually for a fee for these. If the document you want is not digitised, you can request a copy of the document to be sent to you and make all the arrangements through our website.

About Presidential Libraries

visit the national archives order reproductions page

The Presidential Library system is composed of fifteen Presidential Libraries. These facilities are overseen by the Office of Presidential Libraries. Presidential Libraries are archives and museums, bringing together the documents and artifacts of a President and his administration and presenting them to the public for study and discussion without regard for political considerations or affiliations.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that the National Archives' website and collection contain the names, images and voices of people who have died.

Some records include terms and views that are not appropriate today. They reflect the period in which they were created and are not the views of the National Archives.
